Don't think about them developing separation anxiety long before the main events of sbg.

Don't think about the enjoyment Tyler previously felt from baseball being sucked out of him yet continuing it as a way to get into college. Don't think about Tyler eliminating his social life to get more time to care for his family. Don't think about him trying to shield Taylor from going down the same route. Don't think about him having to fill the void his father left.

Don't think about the twins' mother being right there, yet still feeling so far away from them due to how much their fathers death changed her.

Don't think about Taylor watching everything her brother and mother are going through and seeing how horrible their situation is. Don't think about her realising Tyler is trying to shield her from the worst of it. Don't think about her hiding her true emotions because she can see how much everyone else is going through. Don't think about her not wanting to burden everyone else with her problems.

Don't think about Tyler looking up hair tutorials so he can cut his sister and mothers hair so they don't have to spend money on hairdressers. Don't think about Taylor trying (and sadly failing) to get her brother out of the house more. Don't think about both twins becoming incredibly emotionally aware and mature for their age due to the trauma and neglect they have faced from an early age.

Don't think about Taylor watching her brother, her other half, fall out that jeep and plummet to his death. Don't think about her realising that if he doesn't make it out alive, she and her mother will have to grieve another loss, except this time they won't have him to hold them together. Don't think about her begging Ashlyn to turn back, even though deep down she knew the chance of him surviving that fall were horribly low.

Don't think about Tyler not wanting to leave his sister and mother just like his father did, and not wanting any of his friends or family to go through any sort of grief because he knows what it can do to a person. Don't think about the fact his primary focus while falling to his death was of his family. Don't think about the fact that to him his primary focus will always be his family (whether it be blood or found).

Tyler Hernández- Character Analysis

Disclaimer- This post focuses on some of the things I feel are undernoticed regarding Tyler. Sorry in advance for any mistakes. I have never done a proper character analysis before. Tyler won second place in that poll and i know Ashlyn won first place however i need to think about her more so heres Tylers instead. The layout may be a bit... weird tbh this one is a bit of a test run if anyone has any better ideas on how to lay these out lemme know. I could only think of two sections to split this up into; relationships (im not doing ships because im not really a shipper, so theyre all going to be platonic friendships and familial) and my thoughts (basically my general thoughts on him and some analysis). Relationships

Taylor and Tyler

Red has confirmed that Tyler and Taylor have separation anxiety which will be an interesting thing to explore next season considering they're now seperated. The origins of it are unknown as of right now but I think its something to do with their fathers death and was present long before the PD stuff. Even before the PD they are very close, and i think their matching outfits reflect that.

One thing I've noticed is Tyler presents as angry quite often, but will let his soft and kind side shine through too help and comfort Taylor (eg the hug in the hospital, and them cuddling side by side before a shift). Meanwhile, Taylor presents as soft and kind, but will let her angry side shine through if anything bad happens to Tyler (eg when she yells at Jessica for not believing them regarding Tylers actual cause of death).

I also think that Tyler (unintentionally) underestimates Taylor as a part of how overprotective he is.

Marianna and Tyler

After the death of his father, Tyler became the main person doing housework, fixing things around the house etc. He had to fill the void his mother left (due to her bad mental state I doubt she provided much for them)

Ethan and Tyler

Like with his mother, when his father died, Tyler, again, had to fill the void he left. We don't know much about them, however we can infer they were close before he died. We also see he thinks, while falling from the jeep, that he doesn't want to leave his mother and sister like their father did. This could be very literal, and it could mean (this is just a theory) that like Tyler did in the PD, Ethan died via some kind of car accident.

Aiden and Tyler

This may be far fetched but... I think Tyler sees Taylor in Aiden. I can imagine, after their fathers death, Taylor pretended to be "okay" because she didn't want to burden anyone. I can see Tyler leaning to see through her fake smile, which is why he's one of the first to see through Aidens, and the first (that we know off) to actually ask him about his mental state. Furthermore, for a chunk of his childhood, he was one of his mothers primary caregivers (at least that's what has been implied). His mother is mentally ill, meaning Tyler has experience helping people suffering. He's way more emotionally in tune with others than he seems, and I think in season 3 we will see more of that.

Red has stated that Tyler and Aidens bickering became more playful, which I think represents them becoming more brotherly and their friendship improving. As we know, Aiden has never really had friends while Tylers social life went dark for a while because he was dealing with so much after his father's death. These two definitely seem good for eachother, and in a way they balance eachother out. Aidens energetic, playful and way more laid back (which is what I think Tyler needs after so many years of taking care of his mother) while Tyler is serious and cautious (he levels out Aidens reckless behaviour).

Ashlyn and Tyler

At the start, Tyler tries to force himself into the leadership role of the group however is quickly put in his place by Ashlyn. Eventually I think he has come to accept that Ashlyn slots into that role way more naturally than he does however I also think Ashlyn lacks what he has, making them the ideal team.

He sees she feels guilty after his death and comforts her, reassuring her it's not her fault and that he doesn't blame her, again, this shows how emotionally aware he is.

Ben and Tyler

I headcanon that Ethan taught him how to play guitar, which makes the art of him teaching Ben how to play 'happy birthday' just that bit more meaningful.

Ben canonically has anger issues, as Tyler seems to be a naturally angry person. After finding out about Ben's past, I can see Tyler presenting as less angry towards the group, not because he fears Ben but because he doesn't want to trigger him. I can see Tyler respecting Ben alot for opening up about his past because he knows deep down how hard it can be to keep something like that bottled up (due to his home life and father's death)

Logan and Tyler

Honestly I havent got much to say about them however the fact that Logan is the first one Tyler actively tries to protect when he's bullied by Barron speaks numbers about his character.

My thoughts

- In the SBG bracelet his designated bead is the same colour as his sisters (a yellow/orange) which symbolises how simular they are, how close they are, how they balance eachother out etc.

- Tyler has an obvious fear of death which I think originates from having been exposed to it and the affects it has on others from a young age (through his father's death) it would also explain how his nightmare clone self that's trying to kill him is his dead self. It could be a representation of him internally fighting that fear.

- I could see him having separation anxiety surrounding his mother.

- He's more emotionally aware than we give him credit for due to his past.

A/N- Aswell as focusing on my OCs (mainly Vera but also her family) ill be focusing on the gangs platonic relationships with one another and elaborating on certain things I wish Red had explored more in the Webtoon. The timeline in this will be different to the one in canon, alongside some of the events.

SBG THEORY???

So you remember these pictures, right?

I'm waiting for Red to use these as a foreshadow to how every character dies in the story. People have already said that they are pointing to their weaknesses, Ashlyn's being her ears, Aiden's his mental health (focusing on that forces smile), the twins being each other's weakness, Logan being blind as hell, and Ben's being his voice/throat.

But I have a feeling that Red could just take it more literally by them pointing to why they die. It kind of already happened with Tyler and Aiden 💀.

Here's my takes

Aiden died by a head injury and is pointing to his head. More specifically, the sides of his face, and I'm pretty sure that he had a big ass gash there.

Tyler died by being impaled through his abdomen. He is literally pointing at trees in his picture. Man is saying, "Hey, you see those over there. Yeah? Those are the fucks that did it"

Ben is going to die/get severely injured by a throat or jaw injury. It'll either get slashed to hell and back, or, the more gruesome option that I thought of, getting his jaw taken off (most likely not happening)

Logan is getting his ass blinded somehow. I mean, come on. You have a sharp shooter with already poor eyesight and even poorer self-esteem. He is going to lose his sight and have a crisis of not being able to do anything.

Because I love siblings who mirror each other, Taylor is also getting impaled, but this time through her chest. Even better if she was protecting Tyler, so she didn't have to see him die again.

Ashlyn has me for a loss because I don't think she's going to die. Instead, I think she's going to lose her mind or go some sort of crazy. She's already started.

It is an absolute wonder of what I can come up with when eating pizza rolls and watching a five hour video about Home Safety Hotline.

(Honestly may I add that Mike Banner upgraded his car so he could fit all his daughters friends in it, he's the best father, and at this point, he's a father of 6 ngl the others are like his adopted kids)

May I add she also had to watch her brother abandon everything he loved to make time to help out at home? He started to only use baseball as a way to get into college, probably lost his social life and so much more

... AND she probably had to do the same herself? 😭

one of my least favourite things about some of the SBG fandom is that when talking about the Hernandez family they'll talk about Tyler but not Taylor? As if she also didn't have a father who passed away at a young age and had a mother who became unable to take care of them? When talking about characters who put on a façade It's all about Aiden, again, what about Taylor? In all flashbacks she looks so empty but now she's bubbly and the nice, of course I do think she is genuinely nice but I also think she puts a front for her family so that things looks fine at home.

Personally I think that whilst Tyler was balancing taking care of the house and baseball, Taylor was the one taking care of her mom and in turn saw a lot of what losing Ethan did to her. You can see her try to change the topic at Lily's birthday when Mariana brought up Ethan into the conversation. Dealing with a mentally unwell parent and trying to care for them can do immense damage to a young child already grieving. She probably thought she wasn't doing enough for her family when in fact Taylor nor Tyler should've dealt with the responsibility of taking care of the family

Her trauma is probably the MOST overlooked out of all of the main six and it's honestly sad.

- I would have Ben's past mentioned way more than it was in canon. I feel like it was explained in early season 1 and then mostly ignored.

- More badass side character content 🗣for example when Red released that image of Taylor with the baseball bat, I was really expecting a badass moment with her attacking someone with a baseball bat or something but we never got it 😭 would love to see Ben being more spacially aware than the others more often (eg when he noticed the Waffle House employees had left, you know, little things like that) and would've loved them to learn ASL earlier, not only to communicate with Ben but to use it to communicate silently when sneaking around in the Phantom Dimension.

- The timeline would make more sense, as would the Phantom Realm logic. I love what Reds doing however by now I would've liked more info...

- Ashlyns parents wouldve actually have told Ash about the circumstances of her birth after finding out about the Phantom Realm.

- The parents reaction to the Phantom Realm stuff and how affects their relationship with the kids would've been elaborated on more.

These are only some of the things I would change that I could think off of the top of my head, this webtoon has so much potential. Don't get me wrong though, Red is doing an amazing job.

My personal opinion is that people aren't taking advantage of the non ship content Red has given us often enough, which is why I choose to have my fanfics focus on the platonic bonds between our favourite gang.

I have no issue with shipping and see why people do it, I just really wanna see people talk about the platonic stuff, which is why I have chosen to focus my fanfics (all on my page) around them.

I also invite you to come yap about whatever you like in this fandom! Yes that can even be a ship if you so desire, or more talk on the horror/plot aspects (which tbh I need to do at some point) literally ANYTHING you wanna draw attention to.

My point is, talk about the stuff you wanna talk about. Wanna make something mentioned more in the sbg fandom? Then mention it! (Obviously NO PRESSURE take breaks when needed and all)

Whether that be as simple as liking and boosting this post to spread the message, or making a post about something in this fandom you wanna see talked about more yourselves (and if you do tag me I'd love to see it) contribute to making the content you wanna see more prominent.

Hmmmmm, all right.

People tend to get annoyed that so much of this fandom is shipping. But one of the most common jokes in fandom is that happy, cutesy media tends to get the darker fan content and darker media tends to get the cutesified content. As someone who enjoys shipping (not the culture around it), I tend to hyperfixate more on the shipping fan content. I can understand if it may be annoying to people who don't like shipping, but the only thing I can say to that is MAKE that content rather than complain about it lacking. You can keep complaining about how it doesn't exist but, excuse my crass language, you can shit in one hand and wish in the other, see which one fills up faster. You have to be the one creating it rather than just wishing.

Make that dark fanfic, make that horror fan art, make those theories. Don't complain that others have interests in different parts, otherwise you come off as a lazy complainer.

The more I look into it the more I realise the SBG timeline both doesnt make much sense and is super depressing to think about. I cba to get into the former right now so let's focus on the latter.

Imagine seeing two of your friends DIE two days in a fucking row. That's what Ben, Ashlyn, Taylor and Logan went through. Imagine seeing one of your friends die and then dying the night after (or the other way round). That's what Tyler and Aiden went through. Two days guys. It happened over TWO DAYS. Not to mention, Ash had a close call like a week beforehand on the rooftop AND literally not even 24 hours after Aidens death they were taken by the facility.

Aiden fell asleep after DYING and then woke up in some random ass room with ZERO context.

Everything escalated so fast. Oh yeah, from what I have gathered, they only had like... I don't know... 3/4 MONTHS in the Phantom Dimension to get used to it all before the facility took them.

They trauma bonded SO FAST... AND now they're all SEPERATED! After only a couple days max of freedom from the facility Taylor and Logan have likely been taken back there! I have no clue how long they spend in the facility before escaping but it had to be a month. Pretty sure it also toon a few weeks for them to reunite in the Phantom Dimension.

Tyler had to deal with BLEEDING OUT ALONE for several days straight, and Aiden had to likely deal with some bleeding aswell... not to mention THOSE DREAMS! The others had zero contact with them aswell, which must've stressed them out. And when they did make contact, it was only for a couple of weeks since now they're split up again.

Also their days have now extended by 7 hours each day.

So yeah. This is hella sad.
