re: right wing shift, the popular vote numbers are currently showing that trump 2024 lost to trump 2020. this looks to be less about a shift in the population's overall tendencies and more that the population was largely disengaged from this cycle.

Take this as a sign.
No matter who won, you were always going to have to make up for the faults of the regime with personal responsibility and community support. With the Dem backsliding further and further right to try and pick up a moderate vote that straight up doesn't exist, your livelihoods and existence have always been on the chopping block to a group of self-serving, idiotic, rich assholes who will do whatever they can to appeal to Super-PACs FIRST before common decency.
Talk to your friends, your family, people online. Get involved in any activism you can, help the people in your life that you know need it, even if it becomes illegal, because that has always been the line.
The people in charge aren't your friends. And when we get to four years from now, when there's another election, and the Dems start to put MORE of us up as consolation to the Right, start sacrificing EVEN MORE of their voter base to appeal to the white moderate.
Remember today.
Remember that you woke up to a secure Trump victory because BOTH sides see us as expendable. And the people voted.
We are who we are because we have to fight socially, financially, and politically just to be seen as human. That hasn't changed, and with the current choices, that won't change for a long time.
And maybe I'm wrong, hopefully I'm wrong. Maybe the final count comes through and somehow Kamala swings a state she needs, maybe this loss is finally the wake up call the Dems need, who knows? But for now, the reality is that you have to fight, because choosing to lay down and die because the boots are red instead of blue is helping nothing.
The world wouldn't have been right even if Harris had won, so fight like hell anyways.

i think we should be honest & realistic & acknowledge that 'palestine sunk harris' is pure cope. i understand that it is comforting to imagine that passionate support for genocide is unpopular with the usamerican electorate but the actual facts don't beat that out. what sunk harris was a shit campaign run by the same morons who tried to keep biden in as the candidate

i need everyone to know that community is what will save us all in every single way imaginable. you forming a bond with your neighbour or coworker might help them move house or feel less alone or have the courage to leave an unhealthy living environment. you helping a stranger might provide them with hope. in turn, being able to lean on your community in times of need will save you. your broader bonds with your community are the revolution we need. our society seeks to divide and separate us in so many ways but we are all so much more united in our struggles and joys than you are made to believe. we need to hold onto each other very tightly.

Gonna see a lot of finger pointing, and now would be a really great time to not do that. The fact of the matter is that the dems screwed up again. We’re probably going to see record numbers, and the dems lost. Trump got Latino men by 35 points despite being the wall guy.
Things are about to get worse in a lot of ways, and it’s not because enough people on this website nobody uses didn’t fall in line to show up to support yet another unpopular candidate. If you want to channel your anger, channel it in the right direction. Your peers are not your enemy.

the most depressing part is that it's not even kamala's stance on genocide that is costing her the elections. i wish it were. it's people genuinely shifting for trump. but it's the pro-palestine movement that's going to get the blame for it.

YES I do this all the time too. I get a loaf of bread, grapes, salami, some nice cheese, and I pretend I'm a French peasant picnicking on a rooftop overseeing Place de la Concorde and the Seine during the Reign of Terror.
I used AC: Unity for ambiance once, it was peak.
completely obsessed with this. partially inspired my slavic breakfasts. i’m planning a vampire dinner where everything i cook is going to be red.
