EVERY XTC STUDIO LP [BONUS] → 25 O'CLOCK (1985) & PSONIC PSUNSPOT (1987)
25 O'Clock and Psonic Psunspot are the two albums released by English band XTC under the pseudonym 'The Dukes of Stratosphear', released on April Fools Day in 1985 and August 1987 respectively. The albums are a homage to the psychedelic rock movement of the late 1960s that Andy Partridge and Dave Gregory shared a mutual enthusiasm for. With the band using vintage equipment and only permitting a maximum of two takes per song, the Dukes' material heavily draws upon the musical styles of the Beatles, early Pink Floyd, the Beach Boys, the Byrds and the Hollies. Initially conceived as a 'one-off' side project, 25 O'Clock ironically sold more than the combined sales of XTC's two previous albums at the time.
