OCD can show up as intrusive thoughts images, sensations and urges.
OCD can show up as physical symptoms racing heart, upset stomach, chills and headaches.
OCD can show up as trying to convince you that you could act on things you would never want to do and that you're a monster.
OCD can cause you to not trust the thoughts in your head. OCD can cause you to not trust or feel safe in your body. It can feel like who you are and who you want to be cannot connect because of intrusive thoughts and images, urges and sensations being the opposite of who you are, playing in your head on repeat.
OCD is a debilitating disorder but recovery is possible. ERP therapy is the gold standard treatment for OCD and can help you get your life and yourself back from OCD.

OCD Treatment
OCD, or obsessive-compulsive disorder, is a mental health condition characterized by intrusive thoughts, urges, and repetitive behaviors. People with OCD may experience significant anxiety associated with these obsessions and compulsions. Treatment options for OCD include pharmacological approaches such as medication or cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help individuals learn how to manage their symptoms.
People with OCD may experience a wide range of obsessions and compulsions, both mild and severe. Common obsessions include concerns about germs or contamination, worries about losing items or forgetting things, aggressive thoughts toward others, forbidden sexual thoughts or urges, intrusive blasphemous thoughts or religious images and doubt that things have been done correctly or that things will turn out well.
Types of OCD
Contamination OCD-  People with contamination OCD experience obsessions and compulsions related to contamination or dirt. This may include concerns about hands being dirty, touching objects others have touched, germs spreading illness, and not watching hands while they are being washed.
Hoarding OCD- People with hoarding OCD have persistent thoughts that prevent them from discarding items such as junk mail, newspapers, or old clothing. They may also experience an urge to save these items in a cluttered space or unorganized manner.
Checking OCD- People with checking OCD have intrusive thoughts that cause them to repeatedly check things such as their door locks, stove knobs and car's tire pressure. This can disrupt daily activities and place a significant burden on relationships.
Harm OCD- People with harm OCD have obsessions that cause them to fear harming themselves or others, a fear of doing something accidentally and the need to keep thoughts or urges under control. This can lead to severe anxiety and avoidance of situations that present risk.
Washing OCD- People with washing OCD have obsessions that lead to repetitive cleaning and hand-washing behaviors. They may have an intense fear of germs or contamination, worry about illnesses such as Ebola or HIV and spend large amounts of time washing or sanitizing their hands.
OCD Treatment
There are a variety of OCD treatment options available for people who suffer from this mental health condition. Treatment approaches include pharmacological treatments such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) and other medications, CBT, and self-help strategies to help manage symptoms.
OCD medication is often prescribed in the form of SSRIs. These medications are used to help regulate the brain's use of serotonin, a chemical present in the brain that helps control mood, sleep, and appetite. SSRIs can also be used in conjunction with CBT to improve symptoms of OCD.
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is another popular treatment option for OCD. This form of therapy can help individuals learn how to manage their obsessions and compulsions more effectively. CBT works by teaching patients how to recognize and change patterns of thinking that lead to these symptoms, as well as providing education on factors such as the nature of OCD, its triggers, and successful coping techniques.
