EN102 had an assignment where you had to write a letter to an elected official or to a newspaper editor. So I did!
Dear Sir:
Bob Jones University -- The Opportunity Place -- provides nothing but the best opportunities to the student body. Artist Series programs, literary societies, student body activities, and, specifically, the Valentine's Day Banquet, give opportunities to broaden the student's social horizons. These opportunities are required and work to produce a cultured Christian. I realize and appreciate this goal.
However, the Valentine's Day Banquet, intended provide social opportunities and to boost morale, does just the opposite. I assume this banquet is designed not only to recognize a conventional holiday but also to raise the spirits of the student body.
It is, however, severely lacking in the latter purpose; for there are many students, male and female alike, who dread this particular social occasion. Emphasizing dating couples, Cupid, and so-called "love," Valentine's Day strikes terror into the hearts of many students who do not have "steady." The thought of spending the evening alone in a crowd of couples disheartens many students. It is in this way that the Valentine's Day Banquet actually lowers morale.
I propose that attendance at the Valentine's Day Banquet be optional. If attendance at the Valentine's Day Banquet were not required, then those students wishing to recognize this holiday may do so in style; and those wishing to ignore this holiday altogether may also do so without threat of embarrassment. Perhaps a Valentine's Day couple's outing would satisfy everyone concerned.
The employment of this proposition would create a happier and more productive student body and would, in turn, mitigate your workload.
Thank you for considering this proposition.
Sincerely,
Camille Kaminski
I got called in to Lynette Baker’s office for that. It got sent to Jim Berg and I was called in for a bad attitude or whatever. Baker said that Berg told her to tell me, “I sent my wife a Valentine. Is that okay?”
I just looked quizzically at her. Did you not even read it?

Posted tonight for your reading pleasure, we are
Starring: Satoru Gojo, Suguru Geto, Kento Nanami, and Ryomen Sukuna
Just a few fluffy little drabbles exploring what it's like taking care of our favorite JJK men when they're sick <3 Fair warning, this was made entirely for self indulgent purposes.
TW:Very slight yandere themes in Sukunas section and talk of vomit in Getos section. Reader discretion is advised.
Satoru Gojo
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/76f0031a4eeda6b27340dc33b3fc8fbe/d095e9239d137f78-84/s540x810/bda3a477d52f884b4c08173bf6cb4abae763fe1c.jpg)
Satoru Gojo was the strongest sorcerer to have ever lived. He could handle special grade curses with a flick of his wrist, had mastered the limitless technique, and had stood toe to toe with Ryomen Sukuna and lived. To say he was a formidable foe was an understatement.
Which is why it was always at least a little funny when a cold knocked him flat on his ass. The man that struck fear into the elders of Jujutsu Sorcery for the threat to tradition he posed simply could not handle the common cold. But, you had to admit; he looked kinda cute curled up in his blankets- as if hiding from the sick demons. You placed the Okayu you had made him onto the nightstand as you pulled the blankets away from him.
“Hey cutie, come on. You need to eat,” you spoke softly to him, gently rubbing his shoulders, “And I need to check your temperature again.” Satoru let out a particularly dejected groan as he reluctantly sat up.
“Please Y/n, just let me die in peace.” He rasped out, rubbing his heavy, stinging eyes.
“Nope, not an option.” You said, taking the thermometer from his nightstand. You took it out of the case and slipped it under his tongue. He grimaced.
“These aren’t accurate, you know.” He grumbled.
“Less so when you keep talking, so shush.” You reminded him, lightly pushing his shoulder.
“All I’m saying is there's no point,” he argued.
“Do you want me to find the rectal one instead?” you asked. He was suddenly very quiet. What felt like an hour, but was really only 3 minutes later, the thermometer started beeping. You sighed as you saw the number.
“I’m so cold.” Gojo muttered as you took the stick out of his mouth.
“Wrong,” You corrected, “You have a 102 degree fever.” You sighed. You handed him the Okayu, and despite the fact that eating was the last thing he wanted to do, he still smiled at you.
“Thank you.” He muttered, resting his head on your shoulder. Your hands almost instinctively found his hair. He hummed softly at the familiar and comforting feeling of you playing with the strands.
“For what?” You asked.
“Taking care of me.” He muttered softly, “I don’t know what I did to deserve you..”
“Oh please,” You chuckled softly, shaking his head, “You’ve done the same for me. I don’t mind taking care of you one bit, Satoru.” You couldn't tell if his red cheeks were from the fever or from blushing. Either way he smiled at you.
“I love you Y/n,” He whispered, going in to kiss you. You quickly put up a hand to stop him.
“Whoa there! I love you too, but no kissing.” You chuckled, “Not until you’re feeling better.” Gojo groaned and threw his head back in mock frustration.
“Being sick blows.”
Suguru Geto
You woke up to the unmistakable sound of someone vomiting. You sat up to see the light on in your en suite bathroom and your boyfriend nowhere in sight.
Oh no, Suguru, You thought to yourself as you quickly rushed to his side. You made it to him just in time to hold his hair back as another wave hit him. You gently rubbed his back as he closed the lid, flushed the toilet, and rested his head on the cool porcelain.
“I’m sorry.” He muttered softly.
“Why are you sorry, Love?” You asked, though you knew the answer already.
“I woke you up.” He said, standing up and going to immediately brush his teeth. You wanted to argue with him, remind him that it wasn’t good for his teeth to brush them immediately after vomiting. But you knew it was ultimately pointless. He couldn’t stand the taste. It reminded him too much of his technique. Too much of his curse.
“Think it was something you ate?” You asked as he finished up. He laughed, but there was no humor in it.
“Considering that I eat curses regularly, I doubt it. I like to think my stomach is a little stronger than that.” He grumbled, leaning against the bathroom counter.
“Oh no, you think it’s the flu?” If it was, it was inevitable you’d get it too.
“I’m sorry Darling.” That meant yes. You sighed and shook your head as you went to his side. You wrapped your arms around him and shook your head.
“No need to be sorry now. Come on, let's get you back to bed.” You sighed, leading him back to your shared bedroom. He did feel warmer than he normally did. Once you got him laid down again, you made sure a trashcan was within grabbing distance and went for the thermometer. His temperature only confirmed what you both already knew.
“Yep, 103.” You sighed, “You’re sick.” He merely groaned in response.
“I can’t stand being sick.” He grumbled. Suguru hated being sick more than the average individual. He had to deal with the taste of vomit almost every day, and he managed to hate it just a little bit more every fucking time he had to choke it down. Not to mention just how physically exhausting the whole ordeal was.
“I know you do Love.” You said, laying in bed next to him. You grabbed your phone and put one of the many playlists he had made for you. One of the more calming ones, hoping to put him at least a little bit at ease. It seemed to work, his body releasing at least some of the tension it had stored. You leaned over and kissed his cheek, only for him to jerk away.
“Y/n, no,” He argued, “You’re going to catch whatever I got if you keep that up.”
“Suguru Geto, please.” You scoffed, “We share a bed, if you’re sick it’s only a matter of time before I catch it anyway.” You shook your head.
“I know, I just…I hate that.” He finally admitted, “I don’t want to get you sick, being sick is terrible.”
“Trust me, I know.” You chuckled softly, laying next to him. You noticed despite his warm temperature he was shaking. You pulled a blanket over him. “But that’s just a part of living together. We love together, we get sick together.” You shrugged. “That’s just the nature of relationships and love.”
“I don’t think that’s quite right,” He laughed gently, shaking his head, “But, I don’t really have the energy to argue.” He admitted.
“Good, that means I win.” You smiled with a quick nod. “Now, I’ll be right back.” You said, sitting back up, “I’m going to go get you a cool rag and some water.”
“Thank you darling...” He muttered, sleep already feeling heavy in his eyes.
Kento Nanami
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/1564288ace38f5477233eb7124ef064d/d095e9239d137f78-2b/s500x750/a4d0d4dfdd2fc4499424eb7e9053fc5a0394173b.jpg)
“Kento Nanami, what the hell do you think you’re doing?” You snapped as you walked into the kitchen, crossing your arms over your chest in frustration.
“The dishes?” Nanami asked from behind his face mask, turning around to raise an eyebrow at you.
“Kento, you’re sick.” You reminded him, “Walking pneumonia is still pneumonia.”
“Y/n, I feel fine, rea-” He couldn’t even get through his sentence without a coughing fit.
“And yet you sound like you’ve been smoking 6 packs a day for 27 years.” You scoffed, going over and taking the sponge from him, “To the couch with you, now!” Nanami sighed and rolled his eyes in defeat, drying his hands off.
“Look, just because I’m sick doesn’t mean I can’t help out around the house-”
“That's exactly what it means, Kento.” You laughed, shaking your head. “Look, I love how willing you are to help, but I assure you I can handle the housework for a few days while you get better Dearest.”
“I just feel bad-”
“For no reason. It’s not like you asked to get sick.” You reminded him. He sighed, but relented. Even he had to admit he was feeling pretty shit. And the doctor did tell him to get plenty of rest in the next few days.
“You’re right, you’re right.” He grumbled as he returned to the couch in defeat. You smiled in satisfaction as you finished the dishes he started. A few minutes later you were joining him on the couch and-
“Kento, Please.” You groaned when you saw him on his laptop.
“What? It’s not physical work.” He argued. He was researching details surrounding a possible first grade curse that had been running around to send to Gojo.
“You know, for someone who hates work you sure do it a lot.” You pointed out to him, placing a hand on your hip. He froze, hating that you were right.
“I just don’t know what else to do.” He finally admitted, putting his computer on the coffee table. “I’m restless Y/n!”
“Well…here.” You grinned, going over and booting up his long untouched xbox. You smiled when you saw Tekken 7 was already in. “It’s been awhile since we got to play together.” You said, handing him the controller. His eyes lit up as he took it, it only now dawning on him that he actually had time to play video games again.
“I’m going to crush you.” He informed you of this as if it was an objective fact. As if he was telling you the sky was blue, or explaining how the stock market worked. It was just an objective truth.
“Yeah.” You nodded, knowing he was right. You still smiled as you played with him anyway, even as he continued to crush you with character after character. You only really got mad once.
“Hey, no fair! You one-shot me!” You argued, more in awe than truly angry.
“It’s perfectly fair, the wind up for that move with Miguel is long as hell, you had every opportunity to knock me out of it.” He shrugged. You giggled a bit.
“I was curious to see what you were doing.” You confessed.
“I guess curiosity killed the cat.” He said dryly, but you could see the smile in his eyes. That was undoubtedly a joke on the fact you were playing Lucky Chloe, and you‘d be lying if you said it didn't make you laugh. Your laugh brought a chuckle out of him, and he placed a loving hand on your knee.
“Thank you Darling,” He smiled, “I feel better already, genuinely this time.”
Ryomen Sukuna
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/add6313aa125ba1fbfba100278a743e4/d095e9239d137f78-05/s540x810/5b7924c50c62cf7659c81001b126ad4089a7bbc7.jpg)
It was quiet in the temple. Far too quiet. Normally your captor lover was very attached to you, taking any chance he could to soak up your attention. But you hadn’t seen him once that day, and as the sun started to set, you found yourself looking for him- despite your better judgment. He wasn’t haunting any of his usual locations: His throne room, his bedroom, the garden, your bedroom. He had all but vanished, leading you to look in rooms you had never even been in.
You opened a door that was only 3 down from your own. You wondered why you had never thought about what was behind it before. As the door swung open, you were meant with a completely pitch black room.
“My lord?” You asked softly, poking your head through the entryway. You heard something stir, then the soft glow of his second set of eyes found yours. You stepped into the room and quickly closed the door behind you. “Sukuna? Are you in here?” You whispered, a question you almost instantly recognized as being redundant at best.
“No.” His familiar voice rang out, making you jump a little. His voice was rougher than usual, as if he hadn’t used it all day. As he closed his eyes, yours started to adjust to the dark. You were in another bedroom, and resting in the center of a giant bed laid Ryomen Sukuna, using one of his huge arms to cover his eyes. Something was deeply uncomfortable about the sight. Something that made your stomach churn into knots and your blood run cold. And then it hit you.
Sukuna was trying to make himself seem small. He was curled into himself, as if trying to hide from the outside world. You realized he had to have been dying, there was no other explanation. You didn’t know what was more shocking: that Sukuna was at death's door, or the fact that you were genuinely saddened by the thought. Stockholm syndrome really was no joke. Your body took some initiative and started to move of its own accord.
“My lord, what's wrong?” you whispered softly as you neared the edge of the plush bed.
“Nothing wench, leave me.” he growled, but his voice lacked all of his normal vitriol. It was as if he simply didn’t have the energy to inject it into his words. You found yourself crawling onto the bed. You put a gentle hand on his chest, earning you a blood chilling side-eyed-glare from Sukuna. Your body tensed under the intense look, screaming at you to get the fuck out of there. But you ignored your basic survival instinct, as you always did. It got you this far at least.
“You’re cold Ryo…” You muttered softly, laying down next to him.
“I know. Be quiet, woman.” He growled. He stayed still for a moment, as if deciding if he should kill you for your disrespect or not. He must have decided against it, because when he reached out for you he pulled you closer to him as opposed to throwing you at the wall. He wrapped two of his four arms around you, holding you close the way a child would hold a teddy bear.
You wondered if he came in here often. You realized the likelihood of there being windows was minimal. It was light enough outside you would have seen some of the dusky light if there were any. You nestled into his side and listened to his labored breathing. Whatever was going on with him, he was in significant pain.
“It’s like someone is drilling into my skull.” He groaned softly, more to himself than to you. A migraine. You realized he was dealing with a migraine.
“Is there some way I can help?” You asked, trying to make your voice as soft as possible.
“Just...shut up and lay with me.” He muttered, rolling over to fully engulf you in his embrace. It wasn’t often Sukuna was gentle with you, and even more rare that he held you like this. You decided to just enjoy the quiet with him while it lasted.

What/who is the Hal 9000 looking thing on the moon?
Oh I think I only elaborated on who she is at a server on discord, apologies for that, but let me introduce you to another main-ish character in the story!
Let me introduce you to 231-ENE! (Pronounced as Selene)
She's HEL-102's assistant, and her name gives reference to the greek moon goddess Selene, sister of Helios.
Good to know she was giving HAL vibes because that's from who she's inspired from, she's a very large system integrated in HEL-102's palace and many other important buildings around the lunar city. She can control the facilities she's programed into and help HEL-102 keep everything in order. The reason of her creation was that HEL-102 being the lazy son of a b he is, wanted to have an assistant that would attend him 24/7 + she's technically a representation of his previous desire to be above his human sister. 231-ENE reminds me a lot of GLaDOS too but she's less rude although she does give HEL-102 her honest opinions about his plans. Both of them take important decisions for the robotic society, thus why they're included at the comic's cover. (Additional yapping below, just another dynamic I noticed).
I think I forgot to mention this too but BE has an interesting dynamic between HEL-102, 231-ENE and her. Let's remember that the lunar colony originally had a machine that was destined to protect humanity but was later broken apart: G-414. AM had three main components: ego, super ego and the Id. The ego represents AM's knowledge, and 231-ENE represents the ego in G-414. The superego represents AM's foresight and concerns itself in the future while also being the most serene, and BE (previously 34RTH-1) represents the superego in G-414. The Id represents AM's violent urges and desires, HEL-102 represents the Id of G-414.
It's not really important in the story (I think for now), but these three guys basically have the dynamic of the three wise monkeys: BE represents the "see no evil" (she was manipulated through the things she saw), 231-ENE represents the "speak no evil" (HEL-102 prohibits her from revealing any truths to the moon's citizens) and HEL-102 represents the "hear no evil" (he straight up doesn't take criticism from anyone besides 231-ENE, and he's ignorant).
Okay I think that's all :3, thanks for the ask!!

🚨 G7 WARNED OF IMMINENT IRANIAN ATTACK ON ISRAEL WITHIN 24 HOURS 🚨
‼️The G7 countries have informed that Iran could mount a full-scale attack on Israel within 24 hours.
‼️General Michael Kurilla, Commander of U.S. Central Command, is expected to arrive in Israel on Monday to review plans and coordinate forces in the Middle East.
‼️U.S. President Joe Biden will convene his national security team in the situation room on Monday at 2:15 PM ET (9:15 PM Israel time) to discuss developments in the region.
‼️In a special report by Army Radio, Efi Triger noted that the IDF has recently deployed several units from the Home Front Command and the Jordan Lions Battalion to reinforce the defense of the Seam Line communities in the Sharon area. This action follows an urgent warning after recent targeted killings, indicating plans to carry out infiltration attacks on these communities, orchestrated by Iran and Hamas.
The Shin Bet received intelligence that terrorists from the Tulkarm area intended to infiltrate settlements in the Sharon Seam Line area. Consequently, soldiers have been stationed within these settlements to provide an immediate response to any incidents, given the proximity to Palestinian territories.
These units are tasked with serving as the last line of defense within the settlements, should all other security measures fail, learning from the events of October 7th. It became evident on the night between Friday and Saturday that there were genuine threats, as a terrorist cell from Tulkarm, eliminated on Saturday morning, was planning an infiltration attack in Israel.
Security officials told Army Radio that Iran and Hamas are attempting to divert Israeli attention to Judea and Samaria to provoke an intifada, hoping this will prevent an Israeli attack in Lebanon. Judea and Samaria risk becoming the main theater of war once again.
🔅EMERGENCY PREP - THE BASICS
via ISRAEL REALTIME - Connecting the World to Israel in Realtime
Things are scary, “well what am I supposed to do?”
Basic preparation IN ISRAEL:
.. Drinking water. Buy some bottled water, 9 liters per adult (less for children).
.. Washing / flushing water. Have a few buckets or fill a bunch of used water bottles, to wash or flush with - fill buckets when emergency starts, BUT not if you have small children who can drown in an open bucket.
.. Medicine. If you take chronic medicine (every day), get the 3 month supply from your Kupah.
.. Money. Have cash on hand in case ATM’s and credit cards aren’t working.
.. Food. Canned, dry, etc, supplies on hand for a week per person. Baby food? Formula? Special nutrition? Pet food?
.. Light. Flash lights, candles.
.. Communications. Have a power-bank or two for your cell phone. And maybe a radio (buy at hardware stores).
.. Shelter. Make sure it is ready.

(Fotoğraf: Mustafa Kemal Paşa, İsmet Paşa ve Sovyet Büyükelçi Aralov Büyük Taarruz öncesi Ilgın Manevralarında. 1 Nisan 1922)
Her aşaması bugünlere derslerle dolu: Millete dayanma, millî ordunun önemi, doğru müttefiklerle dayanaklar oluşturarak güç toplamak…
1. Devrimci program:
Cihan Harbi’nin sonunda İstanbul’a geldiğinde Meclis’te bakan olmayı başaramayınca Samsun’a gitti ve Millî Mücadeleyi başlattı. Ankara’da bir Millî Hükûmet kurdu.
2. Millete dayanan strateji:

The Genius of Poetry
Artist: Benedetto Gennari (Italian, 1633–1715)
Date: c. 1680-1685
Medium: Oil on canvas
Collection: The Royal Collection, United Kingdom
Description
The Bolognese artist Benedetto Gennari trained in the studio of his uncle, Giovanni Francesco Barbieri, known as Guercino. In 1672 Gennari travelled to Paris to seek the patronage of Louis XIV. He was favourably received and during his 16 months there is recorded as having painted 15 pictures. One of these, Diana and Endymion, was intended for the Duc de Richelieu, but was never delivered, and Gennari subsequently presented it to Charles II as an introductory gift, after arriving at court in September 1674.
During his 16 years in England, Gennari worked for both Charles II and James II, receiving a yearly stipend of £500. He kept a chronological list of his prodigious output, including 102 paintings during the reign of Charles II, 35 during the reign of James II. He painted a further 30 works for James II following the Glorious Revolution, having joined the court in exile at Saint-Germain-en-Laye in 1689.
Poetry, a female figure seated at full-length, right, wearing classical robes of yellow and blue, her right breast exposed; holding a pen in her right hand, an inscribed scroll in her left; books on the table, right; a bass viol on the floor.

Iris Apfel was finally recognised as a great, original fashion stylist in her 80s, when the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum in New York had a sudden gap in its 2005 exhibition schedule. Many curators knew Apfel, who has died aged 102, as a collector stashing away clothes, especially costume jewellery, both couture-high and street-market-low, so the institute asked to borrow some of her thousands of pieces.
When Apfel wore them herself, dozens at a time in ensembles collaged fresh daily, they had zingy pzazz, so she was invited to set up the displays. There was no publicity budget, and her name was modestly known only in the interior decor trade, yet the show, Rara Avis: Selections from the Iris Apfel Collection, became a huge success after visitors promoted it online. It toured other American museums, changing exhibits en route because Apfel wanted her stuff back so she could wear it.
Apfel’s grandfather had been a master tailor in Russia; her father, Samuel Barrel, supplied mirrors to smart decorators; her chic mother, Sadye (nee Asofsky), had a fashion shop. They lived out in rural Astoria, in the Queens borough of New York, where Iris was born.
As a child, her treat was a weekly subway trip to Manhattan to explore its shops, her favourites the junk emporia of Greenwich Village. She was short, plain and, until her teen years, plump, but she had style; and the owner of a Brooklyn department store picked her out of a crowd to tell her so. During the Depression all her family could sew, drape, glue, paint and otherwise create the look of a room, or a person, on a budget of cents – the best of educations.
She studied art history at New York University, then qualified to teach and did so briefly in Wisconsin before fleeing back to New York to work on Women’s Wear Daily. Furniture and fabrics were in short supply during and after the second world war, and Iris began to earn by sourcing antiques and textiles; if she could not find it, she could make or fake it cheaply.
In 1948 she married Carl Apfel, and they became a decorating team: he had the head for business and she the eye. Unable to find cloth appropriate to a period decor, Iris adapted a design from an old piece and had it woven in a friend’s family mill; she and Carl then set up Old World Weavers in 1952, commissioning traditional makers around the globe.
Photographs and home-movie footage from the next four decades showed Apfel, adorned with elan, haggling for one-off items in souks, flea markets and bric-a-brac shops. She is the most decorative sight in each shot, her ensembles put together with complex cadenzas atop an underlying, tailored, structure– they are like jazz – not a statement, but a conversation.
Apfel was the last of those 20th-century fashion exotics who presented themselves as installations. Although she wore a priest’s warm tunic to the White House (President Richard Nixon underheated the place), plus armfuls of cheap African bracelets and thigh-high boots, she was not an exhibitionist like the Marchesa Casati, and, with her vaudevillian comic timing, was far funnier than the imperious Vogue editor Diana Vreeland.
Also, she never ever bought full-price: her many rails and under-the-bed suitcases of couture were sale-price samples, chosen for their cut, fabric, skilled craftwork and colour dazzle (“Colour can raise the dead”). She might wear them over thrift shop pyjamas, or under a Peking Opera costume, with hawsers of necklaces atop. Money could not buy personal style, she said, prettiness withered, beauty could corrode the soul. All that really mattered was “attitude, attitude, attitude”.
Old World Weavers discreetly refurbished the White House under nine presidents, as well as grand hotels and private houses, before the Apfels sold the company in 1992. They retired to a quiet life in their apartment on Park Avenue, New York, its decor an extension of Apfel’s outfits (bad garment choices were cut up for cushions), and in a Palm Beach holiday home where the Christmas decoration collection stayed up all year round, along with cuddly toys and museum-class folk art. Clothes shopping, and the improvisation of an outfit, became Apfel’s daily ritual, as cooking might be to a gourmet.
But after the Met show, and a book, Rare Bird of Fashion (2007), Apfel was back in as much full-time employment as she could manage in her 80s and 90s (she had a hip replacement because she fell after stepping on an Oscar de la Renta gown). She was cover girl of Dazed and Confused, among many other publications, window display artist at Bergdorf Goodman, designer and design consultant – superb on eye-glasses; she wore large, owl-like, frames to stylise her aged face into a witty, unchanging, cartoon.
She took seriously her responsibilities to fashion students on her course at the University of Texas, teaching them about imagination, craft and tangible pleasures in a world of images.
Her career lasted – nothing was ever too late: in 2018, Iris Apfel: Accidental Icon, a book of memoir and sound style advice; in 2019, a contract with the model agency IMG; and last year, a beauty campaign for makeup with Ciaté London. The documentarian Albert Maysles trailed her for Iris (2014), filming this “geriatric starlet” – her term – as she dealt drolly with new high-fashion friends, or laughed at an “Iris” Halloween costume (glasses, a ton of bangles).
She watched as a storage loft of her antique treasures was listed in lots for sale, and as white-gloved assistants from museums that had begged a bequest boxed up her garments; she still had, and wore, the shoes from her wedding. All things, she said, were only on loan in this world, even to collectors. The point was to enjoy them to the full before bidding them good-bye.
Carl died in 2015.
