"BE PREPARED FOR SOME PUNISHINGLY SLOW, BASS-HEAVY MUSIC, AIMED AT ALL OF YOU WHO WANT TO TRANCE OUT, MAN!"
PIC(S) INFO: Spotlight on throwback coverage for Dorset UK stoner/DOOM metal band ELECTRIC WIZARD, fresh off their "Come My Fanatics..." release the previous year, and playing a gig at Wimborne '98, the Tivoli Theatre, Wimborne, UK, on Friday May 1, 1998.
"Their approach may appear chaotic:
"Yeah we never rehearse" says Justin, "Our music is very spontaneous. I think it sounds fresher, more dangerous, aggresive and reflects how we are feeling at that given time."
ELECTRIC WIZARD are:
Jus Oborn (vocals, guitar)
Tim Bagshaw (fuzz bass, effects)
Mark Greening (violence & concussion)

Thank you for all the help so far! Yesterday I said farewell to my good ol' Camry. I bought it back in 2001 and it's a 1998 model. It still had a cassette player! It was a very dependable car and I'm lucky that when it broke down I wasn't on the highway. Something went crazy wrong with the engine, and it started overheating. I popped the hood and noticed that my coolant reservoir was empty (???) and since I was at Wal-Mart at the time, I bought some more coolant and poured it in. It managed to start and I drove it to Best One, but halfway there it started overheating again. The arrow on the temperature gauge went beyond the maximum (I didn't even know that was possible). A few days later the mechanic reported that the car was done for, so the following morning a guy who looked like John Goodman got my car all hitched up, and towed it to the scrapyard; where it was sold for a whopping 182$. The scrapyard was interesting because I met two very talkative, eccentric old guys whose long hair and white beards made me think of them as "Scrap Wizards". The younger of which was wearing a tie-dye T-shirt. They had very interesting things to say about politics, which they weren't shy to voice loudly in the lobby of the scrapyard's office. They were very adamant about how Texas will "revolt" when electric cars become mandatory. The older Scrap Wizard violently disliked Communism, and was convinced that Trump would turn the country Communist if he were elected President again (???). Why they decided to openly discuss this with me I'm not sure, but random strangers always have a tendency to come up and talk to me -- like that one time I was standing outside watering some plants and this old man on a bicycle rode up to me and gave me a "Letter from God" (which I still have) and then rode away. In any event, it was a pretty memorable day today!
Tumblr media
My car broke down Monday and after a few days of sitting at the mechanic, they told me that it's not fixable (at least not at a price I'm willing to pay). My car was made in 1998 (old enough that it actually has a cassette player ), so it definitely was due for a catastrophic malfunction. In any event, I'm gonna need to get me a new car! If you'd like to commission me or donate to my ko-fi, it would be very appreciated! Reblogs would be helpful too! Commission Info: Link Ko-Fi: Link

my wolfstar fic recc
29 of my favs, plus 2 comics :)
sorted from shortest to longest, series at the bottom
i like long fics, i like raising Harry AUs, i like Lay Low at Lupin’s fics, i like marauder era “we’re 70′s trash fics”, i like angst, but i also love “everybody lives”, kind of a mix of everything but seriously a lot of raising Harry AUs because it fills a need i guess
some super popular, some relative unknowns i think
all fics that characterize wolfstar for me :)
JKR has disappointed me supremely, but fan works will hold my love forever
part 2 because i forgot some
STANDALONES
1. A Day Like Any Other by dustmouth
(a comic, not really a fic, just hosted on AO3)
The one where Sirius keeps receiving unwanted mail, Remus drinks a lot of tea, Peter's out on a hot date, and James is offering unwanted make overs.
(Or the answer to the question of exactly how many cursed letters can you flush down the loo).
2. To Keep a Star by dustmouth
(a comic, not really a fic, just hosted on AO3)
Daily life in the Intergalactic Postal Service. Or the one where Sirius is a postal star and Remus lives on a spaceship.
3. in your bedroom, during the war by lupinely
There’s the bed, there’s the room, and there’s Remus. This, at least, Sirius knows for sure. (4Kish)
4. Home We’ll Go by appalachian_fireflies
"I can't, I don't know how," Remus stuttered as Molly dropped the infant into his arms, who immediately ceased crying and stared up at him with wide eyes.
"Nonsense," Molly said. "Be a dear and keep him from falling while I feed Ginny."
"Ba!" Ron giggled, and slapped Remus in the face.
Molly is the emergency contact for the Order when those listed can no longer be reached. Remus' life finds a different path. (10K)
5. A Store of Happiness by coyotesuspect
Harry spends the summer after his third year living with Sirius and Professor Lupin. (10K)
6. In The Bed by bigblackdog
Left to his own devices the summer after the prank, Sirius crafts an unusual gift to mend his relationship with Remus. (11K)
7. Vigil Strange I Kept by whitmans_kiss
Remus' lycanthropy has caused his body to seriously deteriorate over the years due to the constant stress of the transformations, and by his fifty-sixth birthday, it's certain that he won't live to finish out the year. However, a cure has recently been discovered - but what if the cure is just as bad as the disease? (11K)
8. Elucidation Practice by montparnasse
Christmas, 1978. Remus, wrestling with the mighty problems of gift-giving on a budget, contemplates life, love, London in winter, and falling off the edge of the world with Sirius Black. (21K)
9. On a Windswept Cliff by starfishstar
On the cliff top where the fearsome Lord Black once stalked, an outcast man meets a big black dog, and things are not as they seem.
Or: The Remus/Sirius gothic romance AU. (21K)
10. Lethe and Mnemosyne by montparnasse
Winter '79. Looking to get out from under the black-hole overhang of wartime, Sirius and Remus take off to play house on the Cornish moors. It goes downhill from there.  (26K)
11. Purity by FelisA
Sirius resurrection fic. (27K) 12. Common Woodbrown by imochan

13. Wilde and Whimsy by chasing bluefish, obsob
In a world where Dumbledore defeated Voldemort during the first war, the wizarding community is picking up the pieces and getting back to their lives. Remus Lupin becomes a person of interest in a murder at the bookshop where he works and Sirius Black and James Potter, aurors, are sent to investigate. As they navigate the crime itself, Remus and Sirius realize that there is something to their instant chemistry. But they need to keep their newfound attraction under wraps while trying to find the killer and stop them from claiming more victims. (36K)
14. Paper Wings by Krislaughs
(not hosted on ao3)
What if Sirius Black sent a final message from Azkaban? Enter the home of the last Marauder in the days following Voldemort’s downfall. Lost and alone, Remus asks a question of the void, a question whose answer will send him around the world. Meeting puppies, Kneazles, dementors, and nomads, Remus learns more about himself and his friends than he ever thought possible. Learn the secrets of the Marauder’s map and the world’s best chocolate, how various Death Eaters occupied themselves after the fall of their lord, and why you should never leave Remembralls lying around.
15. Uncreated Night by earlybloomingparentheses
Remus can drift through whole worlds in his own mind. Sirius lives in his body, electric, ablaze. In 1979 and 1996 and 1978 and 1981 and in many other years and many different places, they search for the bridges between them and the spaces they can share. Time after time, they fight their way back together, head and heart, mind and body.
And in 1998, Remus stands before the veil, wondering if he should finally stop thinking, and just act. (41.5K)
16. Lemon Chiffon Yellow by Spklvr
An unplanned night between Remus and Tonks ends up changing their lives forever. (42K)
17. The Weather Inside by earlybloomingparentheses
Sirius rides a flying motorbike, and snogs strangers in pubs, and strikes moody poses Remus finds irritatingly attractive. But for Remus, who drinks milky tea and wears flannel pyjamas, there's a chasm cracked right down the fault line between wanting and doing.
How he wants, though. How he wants. (43K)
18. the dogfather by hollimichele
“I’m not a reverse werewolf either,” says the man. “I’m your godfather.”  (47K)
19. Domestic Creatures by veeagainst
Growing up is hard to do -- but the journey is better if you take someone with you. (53K)
20. Leave the Children Behind by montparnasse
Bravery, sometimes, is the ending just as much as the beginning. Remus, Sirius, and a series of choices.
Or, a love story—backwards and forwards. (54K)
21. A Series of Sketches Done in Black Ink by  mustntgetmy
Non-magic AU. Sirius had always imagined the aftermath of falling in love would mean lightness, and an escape from all the horrors of his childhood. But the past never leaves, and even love can't stop bad memories from resurfacing.
An almost year in the life of Sirius and Remus's first year as a couple replete with art and tangled sheets, and containing the following: filled sketchbook pages from people lost and people found, terrible biscuits from an excellent therapist, mismatched music records, expensive hot chocolate, a lost brother, photographs (some invasive and some invoking terrible memories), a reckoning with the past, a promise of the future, and yet another ridiculously over the top Halloween party. (57K)
22. Alt Ed by NachoDiablo
“Remus? Who the bloody hell is Remus?” James is scrambling to straighten his chair as McGonagall glares at him from the head table.
Mary smiles innocently. “Oh, just a new friend that Lily met over the holidays. He’s homeschooled, just moved into her neighborhood it seems. She says he’s very clever. And I hear he’s quite fit, as well.”
AU where Remus and Lily become friends outside of Hogwarts, setting James and Sirius on a quest to learn more about this mysterious newcomer. (61K)
23. Indiana Lupin and the Search for the Conqueror by nekarose
Remus Lupin is an undercover archaeologist for the British Museum and is sent to Greenland to investigate a Roman shipwreck. In Greenland he meets Sirius Black, makes a real discovery and soon enough the two of them are racing through the world in search of the remains of the Library of Alexandria with Remus’ arch-enemy right at their heels. (66K)
24. Le Mot Vagabond by ironicallyinternational
(It all starts with Peter Pettigrew dying twice.
First, Peter kills Wormtail (discreetly), and then Sirius kills him (less discreetly).
Losing a friend is never easy, even amidst the ravages of war, but losing the last of your childhood alongside him is far worse.)
War is a complicated, messy thing. The Marauders have their fucked up shit to deal with, but they also have each other, and that counts for a lot. (151K)
SERIES:
25. The Hole in the Ground by sostrata
(5 works)  A series of fics about Sirius and Remus raising Harry in their home, The Hole in the Ground.  (18k)
26. Holding Out by bigblackbog
(works 2)
On Halloween, 1981 Sirius and Remus abscond with Harry despite their recently rocky relationship. (36K)
27. Maddest House by busaikko
(6 works)
old as hell. Another wolfstar raising Harry fic (55K)
28. Lycanthropic Studies by Eiiri
(3 works)
After the Battle of Hogwarts, Remus recognizes something familiar in Draco Malfoy and offers him sanctuary. With nowhere else to turn--his parents in prison, his home a crime scene--Draco reluctantly accepts and becomes a tolerated, if not welcome, member of his schoolyard rivals' and wartime adversaries' family of choice. As pages of the lunar calendar turn and the summer wears on,Draco and the others begin to see each other in a different light. (139K)
29. Stealing Harryverse by copperbadge
(works 12)
On a dark night long ago, Sirius Black took a wrong turn and never found Peter Pettigrew. Instead of Azkaban, Sirius settled down in Little Whinging to keep an eye on his godson, and hired Remus Lupin to run his bookshop for him. Then one day when Harry was eight, Sirius found out how the Dursleys treated him, and stole him away.
Stealing Harry is an alternate universe version of Harry Potter's life before his time at Hogwarts. It is the story of Harry's family: Sirius and Remus, Ted and Andromeda, Nymphadora, Neville Longbottom, and even Severus Snape, all banded together against a newly powerful Peter Pettigrew who is still searching for a way to resurrect Voldemort.
Laocoon's Children follows Harry through his time at Hogwarts as he develops a very different group of friends: Hufflepuff Draco Malfoy, Ravenclaw Padma Patil, and Gryffindor Neville Longbottom, strange companions for a Harry who was sorted into Slytherin -- the house of his beloved Professor Snape.
This universe ends in Harry's third year, and is partially incomplete. As it is not likely to be finished, the last story in the series is a group of notes I made on where the story would have gone and how it would have ended. (443.3K)
30. All the Young Dudes by MsKingBean89
(4 works)
LONG fic charting the marauders' time at Hogwarts (and beyond) from Remus' PoV - diversion from canon in that Remus's father died and he was raised in a children's home, and is a bit rough around the edges. Otherwise canon-compliant. 1971 - 1995 (557K)
31. Crow Rides A Pale Horse  by tb_ll57
(4 works)
The note pinned to his collar read 'Harry J Potter - please accept'. The Dursleys had left him with nothing else but a pillow sack with half a sleeve of McVities biscuits, a mealy apple, and ten pounds. (618K)

***
1st May, 1998 (continued)
The house flashes, lights ticking on and off in rapid succession. Harry thought it would be a good idea for me to practise some more while he and the rest of the troops train with standard spells. I had agreed, and while everyone else was too busy firing off hexes to notice me, I had slipped away into the basement kitchen. I’m now standing on the stone floor, alone, and toggling with the lighting. Sometimes I use the electric Muggle lights, sometimes I don’t. It’s more fun when I turn them off and use the tiny amount of natural light somehow making its way into the kitchen.
I do need to use the electric lights too though, so I drop my current spell and turn to face one of the ceiling lights. It immediately starts flickering, my power having grown so much that I barely have to think about it. It’s become so strong so quickly that a part of me is really concerned about it. Harry says not to worry and that it’s just the adrenaline and fear about the oncoming war. I’m still going to talk to Hermione about it after tomorrow is over though. If tomorrow sees an end. I might not make it long enough to ask. I push all of my frustration and worries into the magic, and it pulses from me in waves. It’s almost like I merely woke a dormant part of me when I Rose, instead of creating a totally new ability separate from the rest of magic. I’ll need to conduct some tests on it if I make it out the other side.
The lights spark and flash off, but I push it further. Not only are the lights no longer on, but they are actively absorbing any left over, naturally occuring light. It’s something I’ve discovered I can do within the last hour, but I think it could win the war. That—along with my ability to create reflections. Replicas of people and things. Mainly myself. Hermione took our research and has spent all day piecing it together into something that resembles some sort of report. She thinks that the replica is tied to my magical core somehow, so the sensations I feel when the duplicate is hit are just the connection to my magic supply triggering, and not that I’m actually being affected. I can only hope she’s right about that, because she hasn’t found an answer for what would happen if it dies.
I push harder, and the kitchen is now so dim that I’m struggling to see anything at all. Something sparks, and it illuminates the room so much compared to the darkness that I can see everything for half a second. Then it snaps. There’s bangs and clashes everywhere, and I fall to the ground covering my ears. That can not be a good sign. The bangs get closer, one after another they snap. It sounds like… it sounds like the electricity is slowly turning off all over Grimmauld Place. Have I broken the old house?
“Draco?! Are you okay?”
Harry’s voice echoes down the hall and into the kitchen, filling me with relief. He’s okay.
“I'm good,” I call out in response. “I think I might have broken the house though…”
I can hear Harry’s chuckle along with his footsteps. “You haven’t broken the house! Just the electricity circuit.”
“The what?”
Harry laughs again, and he comes into view with a bobbing lumos. “Electricity runs around the house in a circuit, so everything is connected. If one part of the circuit breaks, the whole thing won’t work.”
My face pales. “So I have broken the house!”
“No,” Harry shakes his head. “We just need to connect the circuit again.” He reaches into his pocket and draws out a second wand. I recognise it as Ron’s.
My eyebrows draw down but I don’t say anything as Harry lifts it above his head. He utters something that I can't hear and then slices the wood through the air. It sings, a lovely note filling the stone room. The house creaks and groans for a second. There’s another set of loud bangs and crashes, and then the lights come on again. My eyes are as wide as saucers.
“How the hell did you just do that?!” I ask.
Harry grins at me as he dims his own wand’s light. “Ron has a ton of spells stored in his wand in case he needs them, and when Hermione taught him about Muggle electricity he added a couple for this exact purpose. I just had to say the incantation and it would work.”
“And it did…”
I pause, lost in thought. Wands are so intriguing. There is so much to them that no one knows about. I never knew they could hold spells like Ron’s does, just waiting for the command to release them. I always thought wands acted on a person’s magic, but this knowledge changes things slightly. Maybe magic is merely a signal, not a source. Maybe that’s why the wand chooses the wizard, and not the other way around…
“Draco?”
I feel a hand cup my cheek and I look up. Harry’s emerald green eyes are right in front of me, and my heart stops for a second. I only speak when it kicks back into rhythm.
“Lost in thought, sorry.”
Harry smiles softly and pulls me in for a kiss. His hand tangles in my hair and I wrap my arms around him tightly. The world could end tomorrow. It’s the only thought rattling around in my mind as we keep kissing. I could go dizzy with this, lose my mind and everything else. Become solely Harry’s, because nothing else in the world is as important as he is. But I can’t. Not yet, not now.
I pull away abruptly, feeling a blush rise up and stain my cheeks. I curse my pale skin, angry at the fact that the pink will be on full display. Harry doesn’t say anything though, instead running his thumb over my lips.
“You’re so gorgeous,” he murmurs. He moves his hand back to my hair and presses our foreheads together. We stand there for a while, resting against each other and just looking.
***
“Who did you say was coming again?”
Ron and Hermione are sprawled out on top of each other, lying on the leather sofa. They look so comfortable and happy in each other’s embrace, and it makes me want to do the same with Harry. But I can’t, because even the thought of being so blatantly smitten makes me feel sick. I don’t like expressing my emotions publicly, no matter how much other people around me do.
“A lot,” Ron answers. “Most of our year group back at Hogwarts—so Seamus, Dean, Neville, Lavender, the Patil twins, and many more from other houses—the rest of my family, and all of the Order of the Phoenix. They have a large army that’s been training for months for the imminent end, and they are all preparing outside too.”
Hermione nods, her head bumping into Ron’s chest. “There’s quite a few from Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw as well, but Slytherin I’m not so sure…”
I nod. “That’s understandable. I mean, most of them would have family on the other side, or are in a similar position to what I was earlier this year. I’m sure some do want what’s right, but they probably can’t cope with being the one to kill their parents or cousins.”
Hermione hums in agreement and Ron slowly nods. “I hadn’t thought of it that way.”
“Most people wouldn’t.” It’s true, I think. The majority of people think that everyone in Slytherin is inherently evil, but I believe we were born into a mess that no one else understands. A mess that we can’t fix alone, so we just go ahead with it in order to survive. Almost everything we’ve done has been under duress, and I can only hope that one day, everyone will see that.
“It’s about time too,” Harry chimes in from the armchair opposite mine. “Not everyone in Slytherin is evil. Hell, not everyone evil is in Slytherin! Yet that’s the way people think.” Harry runs his hands through his already messy hair. “I’m sick of that attitude.”
I don’t say anything, letting his words wash over me and the others. Hermione looks thoughtful, swallowing what he’d just said. Ron’s blue eyes cloud over and he looks to be concentrating on something, trying to work something out.
“Is this change in mentality brought on by dating Draco?” He eventually directs at Harry.
He pauses, thinking about his answer. “I think so,” Harry agrees. “I never actually thought they deserved what was being given to them, but I suppose I hadn’t really thought about how deep everything ran.” He smiles at me. “Draco has definitely opened my eyes.”
I swallow and match his smile.
Ron coughs loudly, startling the rest of the room. He holds his hands up in front of him, mock surrendering. “Sorry ‘bout that. A bit of air got caught in my throat.”
Hermione chuckles and presses her lips to Ron’s in a swift kiss. Then she settles back onto his chest. “Try not to dislodge my head again,” she jokes. Ron rolls his eyes but threads his fingers through her hair and pulls her closer.
Harry stands and cracks his neck, stretching his arms above his head and arching his back. “I should probably go get ready.”
“What for? You’ve spent all day setting everything up.” I tilt my head to look at him, trying to see the answer as if it’s written on his skin.
“There’s going to be a meeting assembly thing soon, and I’m giving a speech.”
“Oh. This is the first I’m hearing of it,” I say.
Hermione flushes. “I only suggested it a couple of hours ago while you were training Draco. I honestly didn’t think Harry would actually agree to it.”
“No, I’m amazed I did myself.” Harry chuckles and reaches out a hand to pull me up. I allow him to, locking our hands together as he pulls. Once I’m on my feet I move to leave the drawing room. I will have to make a good impression on the people arriving. We can’t afford to lose fighters just because I’m involved.
***
Night has fallen and the training grounds have once again been readjusted. As well as all of the equipment we set up, there is now a covered stage on which the speech will be said. Hermione is calling everyone in to gather around the base of the platform, and bodies press in close to hear what will be said.
“Come on, this way!” Ron is yelling, gesturing to the stage and sheltered standing area.
People squish in even tighter, and I find myself standing between the old Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor—Lupin, I think his name was—and one of the many Weasley children. I’m not sure which one he is, but he’s built like an ox and is considerably more tanned than the rest of the family. He clearly works outside often.
The standing area is beautifully decorated, with off-white pavement and deep wooden beams. Soft lights run up the beams and hang over the stage, setting a scene of peace and tranquility. It’s almost jarring against the heavy war preparations. It still looks stunning, and when Harry walks up to the stage everything falls into place. The soft orange glow reflects in his black hair, glinting off his glasses. His eyes bounce the light around, igniting the green and making it appear deeper than normal. It sits on his tan skin, the orange drawing out the natural colours of the dark flesh. Smiling, I allow my eyes to rove over his body.
“Get to it!” Someone calls, pumping their fist in the air. It triggers a laugh, and people start jokingly chanting to begin. It’s nice to think about the fact that even with great danger looming over them, that people can still have fun.
Harry smiles out to them and casts a charm on his throat. I recognise it as a Sonorous the second he starts speaking, his voice unnaturally amplified.
“Thank you for gathering here today, and for preparing to fight tomorrow. We’re in challenging times right now, and I’m so grateful for every one of you. This is going to be the last battle—the final fight against Voldemort and all he stands for. We will fight bravely to the best of our abilities, and with the knowledge that what we are fighting for is equality and peace. I can’t sit still and pretend that the world is fine when everyone in it is being threatened, and clearly neither can you. Voldemort won’t ever stop his ruthless pushing; if he’s allowed to continue, there will be chaos.
“There will be casualties tomorrow, I’m not going to stand here and say otherwise. Some of you might not make it out the other end, might not see the world finally put to rights. If it is for this reason that you are no longer willing to fight, no one will judge you for standing down. We can not afford to judge others when our world is being threatened by someone who does just that. By someone who uses ignorance, and the human flaw of dividing people away from each other. For those of you gathered here who want to fight regardless of the consequences and possible outcomes, thank you. You have no idea how much this means to me. I am far from the only person who has been thrust into this situation, and I acknowledge the fact that many of you are giving up everything to be here. Thank you, and let’s get back to preparing for tomorrow!”
Everyone cheers at Harry as he steps down from the platform, trying to shake his hand or pull him into a hug. He politely shakes them all off, choosing instead to remove his Sonorous and make his way through the crowd towards me.
“How did I do?” He asks, his face pressing into my neck.
“Okay,” I murmur back. “Pretty brilliant for someone who hates speeches more than anything else.”
Harry laughs gently, his head moving against me. “Thanks Dray. For everything.”
“Thank you too. Without you, I’d still be in the Manor. I’d still be under my father’s rule and I’d be preparing to fight against you and everyone else here. Thank you so much for removing me from that situation.”
Harry pulls back and wraps his hands around my neck. “If anything, I drew you deeper into the war.” His eyes flash with guilt, clearly concerned about what my thoughts are about it.
“You didn’t,” I assure him. “I would be fighting either way. Better to be fighting with someone I love than someone I would prefer to see die.” The words are ripped from my mouth without a second thought, and I fall silent.
“Someone you love?” Harry asks. “Who could that be?” He teases.
“Shut up,” I scold. “Don’t make me say it again.” Heat rises to my cheeks once more, and I wait in agony for him to reply. For him to say anything about the words that fell from my mouth.
“If it makes you feel any better, I wouldn’t want to be fighting this war without the person I love either.”
Harry beams up at me, and I find myself grinning back. We both admitted it without saying the actual words. “I love you,” I say to him, quietly so only he can hear the confession.
“I love you too,” he murmurs back.
People cheer around us, and for the first time I realise we have a bit of a crowd. My blush returns even stronger, colouring my pale skin all the way down my neck and over my chest. I’m thankful for the darkness, the only thing protecting people from seeing it.
“About bloody time!” One of the Weasleys—the one I was standing next to earlier, I think—calls out. The cheer rises again, and people whoop happily. They’re all Harry’s friends, and they’re all just happy to see him so comfortable. It warms my heart to know that he is surrounded by all of these caring people.
“Shut it Bill!” Harry shouts in return to the Weasley, smile lighting up his face. People laugh again before flooding out of the stage area and going back to training.
After the mother Weasely, who Harry tells me is called Molly, finishes fussing over him and hugging him to her, we manage to get away from the crowd. Harry explains who everyone is to me, pointing out those I would probably recognise and talking about those I don’t. Names swim in my head, not particularly sticking. It doesn’t really matter. Their faces will commit themselves to my memory, and as long as I don’t hurt them tomorrow everything will be fine. Tomorrow. It’s a funny concept. People take for granted that they’ll make it that far. Take it for granted that they will experience the next day, and the one after that. Now that I know I might not, I find the idea… almost foolish. Of course, so is the fact that I’ve become certain I won’t survive. I might; it’s still a possibility.
Swallowing down the thought and bringing myself back to the moment, I squeeze Harry’s arm. He’s wrapped it around my waist in a possessive gesture, declaring to everyone who sees us the nature of our relationship. I expect some curled lips and scrunched up noses, but no one seems to mind a gay couple among their midst. I find my heart warming to them again. I decide it’s best to stop thinking and just to live in the moment, and I touch my lips to the top of Harry’s head. He smiles and returns it.
Grimmauld Place is lit up for the rest of the night as people prepare for war, the soft orange glow of the lights bouncing around the house and training grounds, illuminating the soldiers and the possibility of a better future.

I’m aware I’m being very liberal with the screamo classification, but I think it’s more important to highlight bands that were relevant to the scene(s) rather than not. If you’re a purist who thinks Billy Talent and Alexisonfire don’t have anything to do with screamo, then you’re probably not from here. If anything there are even more bands that I feel could be added that had an impact musically but never had anything close to screamed vocals such as 2 Line Filler (1991), Slow Loris (1993), Venus Cures All (c. 1995), Sinclaire (1997), The Fully Down (1999), The Fullblast (2000), Slow Parker (c. 2001), DD/MM/YYYY (2003) and Siberia (2007), though I guess this paragraph was a workaround!

After All This // Bill Weasley - Part Six
Tumblr media
Pairing: Bill Weasley x Moody!Reader
Summary: Alastor Moody wasn’t a man to back away when someone needed him, so it’s really no surprise that his daughter (Y/N) is like that too. So when both Bill and (Y/N) find a house-elf at their door one day, (Y/N) doesn’t think twice before apparating away with him.
You can find the series masterlist in my bio!
Warnings: angst, fighting, grief, torture and just overall a very heavy chapter.
Wordcount: 3.65k
A/N: This chapter is pretty intense and plot filled (like pretty much all chapters ahead!)
Tumblr media
March 16th, 1998
“Dad,” you said, giving your father a quizzical look. “What’s that?”
Alastor Moody looked down at his daughter from his place at the old mahogany table, his brand new magical glass in his hand. He had just popped it into its brown leather strap and was giving it a quick cautious inspection. You had been watching him the whole time, taking note of every action in the simple process.
“It’s my new eye,” Moody said, allowing his daughter to take a proper look at the thing for the first time. You leaned over his knee and peered down at the glass eye in his rough and tattered hand. It looked so small in his wide palm.
“So you can get rid of the eye patch?” you asked, your nose scrunching up at the leather patch covering his left eye. You had hated the thing since you had seen it on him for the first time and kept telling him that he looked like one of those muggle pirates. He gave a rare, slight chuckle at your words.
“Yes. Happy about that are you?” There was a smile on your face as Moody took the eye patch off, revealing the red, scarred skin around the hole where his eye used to be. He saw you flinch at the sight but keep on looking, disgusted intrigue on your face. Moody felt the need to turn away from your innocent eyes but stayed when you raised a hand to the scars running down the left side of his face.
“Did a bad man do that, Dad?” Moody picked up a sense of concern in your young features, bringing a smile to his lips. He lifted you up and placed you on his knee like he would always do when explaining something to you.
“Yes,” Moody said. “A very bad man. You know that Dad’s job is to put all the bad wizards and witches in jail. But sometimes I can get hurt, and this can happen.” He lifted a finger to point at his eye. “Or this.” He pointed to his wooden prosthetic leg and gave it a pat. He watched your eyes glance down from his facial scars and down to the wooden leg. You followed his action in patting it and smiled at the weird part of your father.
“That’s cool,” you said, giving it another pat. Moody chuckled and tucked a (h/c) strand of hair behind your ear, one that so resembled your late mother’s.
“That’s not the word I would use for it,” Moody said. “but I suppose it could be considered cool.”
“Was it the same man that got Mum?”
Moody paused, the question taking him by surprise. His heart sat still in his chest at the mention of your mother, and he was grasping for the right words to say. It had been a different death eater than the one that had taken Adeline, yet to him, they were much of the same muchness. Both were the same evil vermin that they had both been pledged to fight against.
“No,” he answered slowly. “No, it wasn’t the same man.”
“I miss her,” you said, suddenly looking up at his face from your gaze on his wooden leg. You were playing with one of the buttons on his dark grey shirt, your legs swaying around in the air between his leg and the floor.
“I miss her too,” Moody said, letting you wrap your arms around his neck. He held you tight as you nestled your face in his neck and against his light brown hair, his hand going up to cup the back of your head. “I miss her too.”
He placed a kiss to the side of your head, keeping your body close against him. Letting a silence come over the both of you, he kept a grip on the electric-blue eye in his hand. He’d give both eyes to have his wife back. But more importantly, he’d give his life to make sure you didn’t have to die along with her.
The sunlight streaming in through the window bounced back off the electric-blue glass ball and into your eye, only becoming aware of the painful glint as you awoke from the old memory. You could almost feel the kiss that you father had placed to the side of your head over twenty years ago, the remanents of its comforting nature still imprinted on your skin.
The sound of Bill’s footsteps coming down the stairs awoke you from your trance, your head turning to look at him. He flashed you the warm smile he always would whenever he saw you, no matter how long had passed since he had last been in your company. This time it had only been several minutes, yet he still made his way over to you and wrapped his arms snuggly around your waist, digging his nose deep into the strands of hair sitting around your ear.
He placed a kiss to your temple, feeling you lean back against the front of his body. It was one of the comfiest places in the world and you always found yourself coming back to its comfort.
“I was thinking we might go visit Tonks and Remus today?” Bill said, feeling you turn around to face him in his arms. “See how big her belly’s gotten and tease her about it.”
You let a laugh slip from your lips, a large smile on your face now beaming. “Pregnancy is a beautiful thing, Bill. Even if it does make you fat.”
Bill gave a hearty laugh, placing a kiss to your lips. You reached a hand up to ruffle his long, ginger hair, stepping out from his hold around your waist. “I’ll just go get a jacket for both of us and then we can head off.”
Before you could take a step up the stairs, a loud crack of someone apparating outside came rippling through the cottage. Your eyes immediately flickered over to Bills, ears pricked to pick up the slightest of noises. Within a second, your wand was outstretched in your hand and you stalked your way over to the window. You tugged the thin lace curtain back, peering outside to find the unexpected visitors.
Out near the edge of the windy cliffs stood three familiar figures. Dobby the house elf who you had met only a handful of times stood in the middle, both hands outstretched and holding the hands of Luna Lovegood and Garrick Ollivander. Both looked injured and weak, bloody cuts all over their bodies and bones protruding out of their undernourished flesh.
“It’s Dobby with Luna Lovegood and Ollivander,” You said, turning around to look at Bill. You saw a look of confusion come over his face and the wand in his hand drop to his side.
“The wandmaker?”
You simply nodded, making your way outside and over towards them. You heard Bill quickly make his way out behind you. Dobby was hurridly making his way over to you, tugging both of them along behind him.
“(Y/N) Moody!” called the house elf. “Dobby needs to help Harry Potter! Harry Potter told Dobby to bring Luna Lovegood and Mr Ollivander to Shell Cottage!”
“Where’s Harry?” You said, placing a hand to Luna’s face to check the scar that sat on her cheek. Luna’s silver eyes were still bright despite the physical wounds that littered her body.
“They’re at Malfoy Manor,” she said in her light voice. Her normally bubbly expression had turned to one of worry. “They’re in trouble.”
You had your mind made up within a second. You nodded at Luna before looking down at the Small house elf in front of you. “Can you take me there?”
“Of course,” he responded, his high-voice enthusiastic to get back to Harry’s aid.
“(Y/N),” Bill said, grabbing hold of your wrist and turning you to face him. “Don’t go leaping into battle. Think this through first.”
“There’s no time to think this through, Bill!” You said, your (e/c) eyes meeting his blue ones. “There in real trouble. The Malfoys are dark wizards, and as far as I’m concerned, my job is to hunt down dark wizards.”
Bill sighed, knowing that fighting with you would be no use. When you were set on something like this, there was no changing your mind. “I’m coming with you, then.”
“No, you can’t,” you said, “you need to look after Luna and Ollivander. I promise I’ll be careful, okay?”
You knew he was worried for you; he always was whenever you had to do something like this. Though normally, you would have your father or another auror with you. This time, however, you were heading into it alone. All he could do was place a rash kiss to your lips, a hopeful goodbye, and let you leave, hoping with everything he had that you would return all in one piece.
“You’re too much like your father,” he muttered against your lips before placing another kiss to your forehead. You leant into him one last time before turning away and grabbing Dobby’s hand.
“I love you,” Bill said, the breeze ruffling his red hair and sending a shiver down his skin. Bill’s face was already pale with worry but he held onto your gaze with apprehension.
“I love you too.” And with those final words, you watched as Bill, Luna and Garrick Ollivander vanished into a swirl of colour, the dark colours of the Malfoy’s dungeon quickly setting in. Looking around, your eyes met with Harry and Ron’s, a look of relief coming across their face as they took your presence in.
“(Y/N)?” You heard Harry say, rushing forward and wrapping his arms around your body. You embraced him in the cold and damp dungeon before wrapping your arms around Ron.
“Tell me what’s going on.” It was then that a blood-curdling scream erupted from outside, unmistakably a female’s. You winced at the sound, knowing full well who’s throat it had escaped from.
“Bellatrix has Hermione,” Ron said, rage clear in his voice as he said it. You knew it was taking everything he had not to barge up there and into the middle of a room full of Death Eaters.
“Why are you even here?” You said, looking between the two of them.
“Snatchers got us,” Harry responded. “We have the sword of Gryffindor, that’s why Bellatrix is torturing Hermione.” He stumbled on the word torturing, his eyes rising to the roof where another scream erupted.
“The sword is supposed to be in the Lestrange volt,” you said, your grip tightening on your wand in your hand. “Okay, look, we haven’t got time for stories. I’m going to sneak up there. You leave the duelling to me, okay? I have the most experience. You two get Hermione and the sword and make sure you’re ready to apparate back to Shell Cottage with Dobby.”
You crouched down until you were face-to-face with the house elf. Your authorative tone reminded you so much of the way your father would address the Aurors below him just before a mission would unfold. “Now you make sure you do whatever you can to get them to safety. If I get injured or die, you disappate out of here and get them to Bill. Do you understand me?”
“Yes, (Y/N) Moody,” Dobby said. “I’ll make sure Harry Potter and his friends are all safe.”
You nodded at them all, before making your way past them and up the stairs. Your eyes flickered to Peter Pettigrew’s dead body, no emotion arising in you as you looked at it. You stepped quietly on each step, growing closer and closer to Hermione’s screams as you trod. Years of Auror experience had made your footsteps near silent and your breaths almost invisible to detect. Your heartbeat was beating quickly in your chest but your hand never shook, your wand steady and ready to use in your still hand.
You rounded a corner, ears pricked to pick up any sound that the Malfoys or Bellatrix might make. You were so close now and could see the dark outline of a tall woman with dark, frizzy hair. On the floor just below her was Hermione, bloody and screaming, tears streaking her pale and distraught face. You swallowed in disgust at the way Bellatrix leaned over her, enjoyment in her eyes at seeing the muggleborn in so much pain.
You raised your wand silently and aimed it straight at Bellatrix’s chest. You were careful not to let it point in Hermione’s direction before shouting, “Expulso!”
Bellatrix flew back in the air as blue light hit her chest, a stunned expression on her face at the unexpected curse. You watched as all three of the Malfoy’s heads turned to you, their wands now in their hands.
Before another second had passed, you had disarmed Lucius Malfoy and were working on stunning Narcissa. Draco stood still, his wand pointed at you yet still unwilling to actually use it. You watched in the corner of your eye as Bellatrix stood back up, her curved, walnut wand in her hand.
Her frenzied eyes locked with yours and as she raised her wand, a wicked smile playing with her features. As furious as she was at the expulsion curse you had shot her way, she almost looked excited that you were there, hardly able to wait to play with the toy that had been delivered right into her hands.
“Oh, look,” she said in her high and toying voice. “A Moody has come to save the day.”
You weren’t one to wait for a death eater to finish toying and shot a stunning curse her way. It seemed to do its job in shutting her up before she deflected it with ease, a look of outrage on her face. Her features were glowing red as she looked at you with pure disgust in her eyes.
“You think you’re a brave one too, huh?” She gasped. “Well don’t you remember what we did to your father? Don’t you remember him falling off that broom that night?”
Her words sent a rush of loathing through your blood, your already tight grip on your wand tightening. You saw her raise her wand and you jumped out of the way, barely making it out of the red, torturous light in time. “Crucio!”
It struck the floor beside you, charring the wooden boards that it hit. You raised your mother’s old wand and yelled, “Incendio!”
Bright flames shot out of your wand and into her direction, licking her skin and singeing her hair. She staggered pack, a burning pain clear on her face and a look of hatred in her eyes. “Don’t you dare talk about my father like that!”
Bellatrix laughed despite the pain. “Do you know what happened to his body? Of course you wouldn’t, after all, we got to it first… or more like His Dark Lord’s snake did…”
Her own words must have stuck Bellatrix as hilarious because she let out a large and long cackle, it’s high-pitched sound echoing around the otherwise silent room. The Malfoys were just watching on now, completely engrossed in the teasing and curses being flown back and forth. You caught the figures of Harry and Ron coming around the corner and into the tense room, their eyes immediately settling on both you and Bellatrix staring back and forth before flickering down to Hermione behind you. Ron instantly made his way over to her and helped her to her feet, Ron taking most of the effort in walking her back over to Harry.
“You’re another dead Moody, you know that?” She finally said, set on finishing you rather than wasting another minute of her time toying. “There won’t be any more of your filthy half-blood family left to hunt us down.”
You deflected the stunning shell she shot your way and quickly followed it up with an expulsion charm. She stumbled back, more vicious intent coming into her features as her eyes narrowed on you. “I watched that snake eat him whole,” she screeched, “And I’ll watch it eat you too.”
“Shut up!” You couldn’t take the taunting about your father anymore, it was opening up to many painful doors you thought you had closed. But she kept going, firing another fiery spell your way as she did do.
“There was barely enough left of him before the snake got to him! The fall broke his body, oh…” She let a high, intake of breath part her words. “I wish you had been there to watch.”
You were almost set on dropping your wand and jumping on her, switching to the muggle way of solving fights. But Dobby’s high, anxious voice filled the room. “(Y/N) Moody, we must leave now!”
“Just a second, Dobby,” you said, taking a large intake of breath to clear your mind. “Just another second.”
You shot a red curse her way, watching her as she deflected it with a silver shield charm. There were flashes of different coloured lights, blue, red and green as curses were shot back and forth, some deflected and some just missing its target. Bellatrix’s cutting curse struck your arm, sending sharp pains throughout your arm as small but deep cuts sprang up all over your arm. There was blood everywhere, soaking your clothes and dripping to the floor, but you kept your wand pointed at her and fired a successful burning curse her way.
“Now, (Y/N) Moody!” You heard Dobby scream again, his hand interlocked with both Harry and Ron’s, Hermione struggling to stand up straight against the tall redhead. With a last look at Bellatrix Lestrange, you cast the most havoc-causing curse you could think of.
“Confringo!”
Fiery Orange light escaped your wand and hit the ground where Bellatrix stood. The ground erupted, sending her flying back and into the wall behind her. While she was out you hurried back and grabbed Harry’s hand, Dobby instantly moving to diapparate all five of you out of the now rubble filled house.
It was only as the room turned into a swirl of colour that you noticed the little knife that Bellatrix pulled from her side, and the malice look on her face as she threw into the disapparating form of the five of you. Blood trickled down her smiling lips as she realised it disapparated along with you, hoping with everything that she had that it would find it’s way into one of your flesh and bones.
Tumblr media
The crack of your apparating forms rippled through Shell Cottage, turning the heads of the three people that sat inside. Bill was immediately on his feet and running full pelt out the front door, frantic for his eyes to lay on you once again. He paused, feeling like his heart was beating in his throat, closing up his airways and leaving him struggling for breath. And then his eyes met yours, standing a few feet from Harry before he watched your knees hit the ground.
He hadn’t even noticed he had started running towards you before he was on the ground next to you, looking over your body for any indication of injury. Your arm was coated in blood, the scars left by a cutting curse littering the skin of your arm. There was a little cut on your chin, but otherwise, you were physically fine. But for whatever reason, you were shaking uncontrollably in Bill’s arms.
You couldn’t speak. You had finally let go of all the emotions that Bellatrix’s words had let loose. You knew you wouldn’t be able to fight if you had let them rip and claw at you there, but the holding in had done its own damage. Each breath that came out of your chest was sharp and jagged. You knew you should feel the pain of all the cuts on your arm but you were completely numb to any pain at all. All you could picture was the image of Nagini striking the broken corpse of your father over and over again.
You hadn’t noticed that you were gripping the inside edge of Bill’s green jacket, the skin on your hands turning white from the pressure it held it with. You barely noticed the screams and whimpers that were coming out of your mouth or the tears that had blurred your vision of the panicked man crouched in front of you.
“(Y/N)…” he said, but you couldn’t hear him. You scarcely noticed his lips moving. “What happened?”
All you could do was lean into him, feeling his arms immediately moving to wrap around your neck and chest and bring you deeper into him. The wind whipped both of your hair into each other’s faces, your cries rippling through your body and into his.
You were only able to mutter one word over and over until it was the only thing your lips seemed to be able to mumble. And that was what kept Bill’s heart thumping a hundred miles per hour in his chest. Your voice was strained and weak with every cry of ‘dad’ that escaped your lips.
It was like that night all over again. All Bill could do was hold you against him on the damp floor of Shell Cottage while everything else but you and your cries faded out of existence in his mind. You held onto him like he was the only thing keeping you alive at that moment, the sound of Bellatrix’s cackling laugh echoing in your head as she stood over your Father’s broken and battered body. And then the Snake would close in on it, amusement seeping deeper and deeper into Bellatrix’s features.
And Bill was the only way to hold onto reality. Without him holding you, the snake would engulf you whole along with your father’s damaged and dead body.

I was on edge while writing this part. There were so many times where I was so close to crying because of the intensity of it. What did you guys think? Let me know!

Hi! I haven't read wolfstar in the last few monthsand I miss it, so I was wondering if you could rec me some of your favourite fics? Gracias! 💛
Oh absolutely and welcome back to the Wolfstar love!  I am happy to give some recs and if you search my “fic recs” tag or even my bookmarks on my Ao3 you’ll find a ton of fics I love.  Here’s a list of a few I’ve read recently I’ve really enjoyed:
Solntse by @lumosinlove: Sirius, a young Russian billionaire hires Remus, who is working part time as a call boy to make ends meet. Things happen, feelings occur.
Crash Into Me by Shadow_Prince: “Yeah, sure, steal my bird and then insult my clothing. Why not?” He waves a hand flippantly but Sirius stands up shocked.
“Wait, what?”“Which part are you confused by?” the man seethes, eyes narrowed dangerously. “
The part where I know you’re sleeping with my girl, or the part where you insulted my clothes two seconds ago.”
“The first - I’m very aware about the cardigan joke.”
“There’s no point in playing dumb, I fucking know.” The other sighs, all of the wind gone from his sails, shoulders slumping as he rakes a hand through disheveled curls, damp from the spitting mist outside. “Reversed the number on her phone found the billing address.”
“I didn’t steal your girl, mate. I mean, I’m fucking sorry because that’s horrible, but it wasn’t me.” A snarl pulls up the others lip, he glares with disdain, but Sirius holds his hands up before he can continue. “I’m gay, for fucks sake. Like, really, really, gay. You’ve got the wrong bloke.”
Deepwood Wreathing Series by @chromat1cs: A baron in Victorian London, Sirius Black is very near his breaking point of simply absconding into the obscurity of the forest. That is, until a rent boy going by the name of Remus arrives to turn his reality on its head in one fell swoop.
Uncreated Night by Earlybloomingparantheses: Remus can drift through whole worlds in his own mind.
Maybe I Waited Too Long - A Marauders Medical AU by youblitheringidiot ( @blitheringmcgonagall) : Dr. James Potter and Dr. Sirius Black had gotten their lives and careers back on track after the nightmare that followed the collapse of Slytherin Pharmaceuticals, and moved abroad to work in Dublin to get away from painful memories. But they find themselves confronted by their past, their lost loves and arch enemies.
Waves of Magic by @moonllotus: When Regulus requests Sirius come home for the holiday, Sirius accepts. Never mind the fact that he hadn’t seen his mother in nearly six years, or that the rest of his family could be difficult to swallow. To Sirius’ relief Remus volunteers to join him. “I go where you go.” They’re not a couple, despite what the Black family seems to insinuate. But how Sirius wants.
Walking in a Wizard Wonderland by @yumenouveau: It’s minutes till Christmas and Sirius has just finished bar-tending for the a Victorian-style wedding. He’d been watching the cute photographer all night, but little did he know the other man was looking back at him too. With how hard it’s started to snow, Sirius wonders whether the other man will be able to get home or if he’ll be staying over for Christmas
Sing Along Forever by JBankai89: Quiet, studious English Lit student Remus Lupin is dragged to a Punk Tribute show by one of his close friends. He had no idea what to expect, least of all catching the eye of a handsome singer by the name of Sirius Black.
My Milkshake Brings All the Boys to the Yard by tinyarmedtrex: Remus gets stood up on a date and a tall, dark stranger helps him out.
