hate how I've shifted from 'gortash sounds like a tory boy who needs his face smashed in; come here karlach we're going to wreck you shitty boss' to 'what if my durge and gortash were childhood friends' -- but not in a cute way, much more, 'my parents were so loveless and cruel that I began running scams with the murderous thieving urchin who threatens to cut my throat and felt something close to love for the first time, that I then meet years later, when I'm a cult leader, and they're a cult leader, and I feel both a sense of relief to see them, a sense of rage they did not keep their promise to stay friends forever even though I was literally sold to the hells, and then, deep down, a sense of discomfort and loss, that our affection for each other as adults is always going to be filtered out by our sense of duty to our Lords and Masters' sort of way, with an added element of 'I killed this guy because my memories were erased and all he was, was an asshole in our way, but I wish, I so dearly wish, that I didnt have to kill him, he was a piece of me I'll never get back'

There are so many GREAT dynamics in Durge x Romance option (Amnesiac lovers DurgeHeart! Violence to tenderness DurgeZel! Monster hunter and monster DurgeWyll! Unknown victims of the same monster DurgeLach! Nature's Protector and Nature's Abomination OakDurge! I think I might have a type GaleDurge! Whatever you want to call Durgestarion!)

And there's so many great moments within all of those (the three chosen/champions of their Gods shrugging off the mantles to embrace freedom together, the "good" aligned characters convincing Durge that it doesn't matter who they were, only who they want to be, the unbearable tenderness and hope of living for oneself for the first time)

But for the tragedy enjoyers...

There's something about Durgethara that drives me so wild in that unlike the others, where there is the possibility of something healthy I think across the board, there's no way of Minthara and Durge falling in love that isn't her wholesale replacing her devotion to the Gods to devotion to you instead. You become her battle cry. If you're a Dark Urge, she encourages you to take every morsel of power you can take even at cost to yourself and your freedoms! Even when she finds out you were behind the whole absolute cult, she doesn't stop to be emotional about it - you were the architect, therefor you will guide them to victory. She doesn't see it, and it can be easy to buy into her just being pragmatic, but she is just as worshipful of you as she is of any of the Gods (or of Orin!)
