Hm. On impulse, got a moderately nice face cream. Thought "eh, you know, it's probably not worth it. It'll work about as well as the CeraVe does, I'm sure." Put it on. It does not make my dry spots burn the way the CeraVe does. What the fuck. I thought all moisturizers would do that. What the fuck.
#like 'oh yeah the cerave is for sensitive skin it's unscented it's rated by dermatologists and the eczema people for being skin friendly#it probably just burns a little because my skin is so dry and i suspect i bave eczema in those areas haha yeah it's the dryness!'#and imagine my fucking surprise#when i smear on this lightly sweet smelling laneige cream and nOTHING BURNS???#nothing hurts??? it's actually?? soothing??????#I'm gonna be staring at the labels on both products to try and figure out why the cerave hurts for a moment but the laneige doesn't

i'm almost 4 weeks post-op from my own reduction!! the zips and zaps from the nerves regenning have subsided for me pretty much, so hopefully you won't have to feel it for too much longer. I'm now in a new, equally evil stage of healing, though: itchy scars. i rly recommend getting some nice dry skin cream, it's the only thing saving me rn
CONGRATS ON YOUR REDUCTION first of all! second of all, god the itching is the part I'm Really not looking forward to. That said, my incisions are literally never going to be unsauced for the coming weeks LMAO-- they gave me a couple of creams and a regimen along with the 1000 vitamins and medications they already had for moi. So right now, I've got a sort of protective, moisture barrier guarding, heal-y cream, and I'm supposed to apply it to the incisions twice a day. On week 5, I'm allowed to start ✨Scar Therapy✨, and then I'll be switching to some type of fancy scar cream that they also gave me.
#so my skin will be anything but dry! literally just covered in various creams and goos#sergle answers

what's your thoughts on skincare?
in most cases, a lot of it is unnecessary. a lot of skincare (especially the stuff marketed toward women) is just scams and a waste of money that’s promoted using misogynistic anti aging shit. anything more than a simple cleanser + moisturizer + sunscreen unless you need some sort of medicinal thing for your skin is silly
#typically i use cleanser + oil + moisturizer + a cream + moisturizing sunscreen#but that’s bc my skin is extremely dry and i also have a skin condition#and even then none of this is NECESSARY#you can just not do skincare and be fine

Which Cream is Best for Dry Skin?
People of all ages are susceptible to the frequent issue of dry skin. It can lead to discomfort, flakiness, and even irritation if not addressed properly. The key to managing dry skin lies in choosing the best cream for dry skin that provides the necessary hydration and nourishment. This blog will discuss the top dry skin creams, such as face, hand, and all-purpose creams, and provide advice on how to keep your skin feeling smooth and healthy.
Understanding Dry Skin and Its Causes
Dry skin occurs when the skin’s natural moisture barrier is compromised, leading to a lack of hydration. Some common causes include:
Environmental Factors: Cold weather, low humidity, and harsh winds strip the skin of moisture.
Lifestyle Habits: Frequent use of hot water, harsh soaps, and skipping moisturizer can exacerbate dryness.
Skin Conditions: Chronic issues such as eczema or psoriasis make the skin more prone to dryness.
Recognizing the signs — tightness, roughness, flakiness, or itchiness — is the first step in addressing this issue effectively.
Types of Creams for Dry Skin
1. Face Cream for Dry Skin
The skin on your face is delicate and requires special care. Among the top face creams for dry skin are:
Hyaluronic Acid: A potent humectant that draws moisture to the epidermis.
Ceramides: Help restore the skin’s natural barrier and lock in hydration.
Glycerin: Retains moisture and soothes irritation.
2. Hand Cream for Dry Skin
Hands are exposed to water, soap, and environmental factors more than any other part of the body. A good hand cream for dry skin should:
Contain nourishing ingredients like shea butter, almond oil, or urea.
Absorb quickly without leaving a greasy residue.
3. Skin Cream for Dry Skin (All-Purpose)
For overall body care, all-purpose creams are ideal. Look for products enriched with:
Shea Butter: Provides deep nourishment.
Aloe Vera: Soothes irritation and promotes healing.
Vitamin E: Protects the skin from environmental damage while moisturizing.
What to Look for in the Best Cream for Dry Skin
When choosing a cream for dry skin, focus on the following features:
Hydrating Ingredients: Look for humectants, emollients, and occlusives like hyaluronic acid, ceramides, and natural oils.
Gentle Formulation: Avoid alcohol, artificial fragrances, and harsh chemicals that may irritate the skin.
Texture: Opt for richer, creamier formulations for intense hydration or lightweight options for daily use.

Moisturizer: Use a lightweight but effective face cream for dry skin.
Sunscreen: Always finish with a broad-spectrum SPF.

Weekly Additions
Exfoliate: To get rid of dead skin cells, do this once or twice every week.

Additional Tips for Managing Dry Skin
While creams play a vital role, here are other ways to manage dry skin:
Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water daily.
Use a Humidifier: This is especially important in cold or dry locations.
Avoid Long Hot Showers: Use lukewarm water to prevent stripping your skin’s natural oils.
Protect Your Skin: Wear gloves in harsh weather or when working with water and cleaning products.
Conclusion
Finding the best cream for dry skin is an essential step in maintaining smooth, hydrated, and healthy skin. Whether you need a face cream, hand cream, or an all-purpose solution, focus on products with hydrating and nourishing ingredients like hyaluronic acid, ceramides, and natural oils.

how am I supposed to stop scratching my rash (the literal only thing that actually makes it go away) when I have ADHD and no impulse control and do not realize I am scratching until it's too fucking late at least a dozen times per day
also how am I supposed to focus on literally anything else when I am literally constantly itchy. it feels like the majority of my brain is spent trying to ignore how itchy I am. the irony is that when I do finally focus on something else, that's when I start scratching, because I'm no longer focused on Do Not Scratch
I'm going to LOSE MY MIND
(do not tell me to see a doctor or put on lotion or wtf-ever)
#eczema#still like 80% sure it's not actually eczema but dunno what else it could be#do not tell me to go to the doctor#i have done so multiple times#they just shrug and give me steroid creams#which usually don't help#'use unscented detergent' dude i switched years ago#'use lotion or aquaphor daily' my skin isn't dry tho?????
