Also I accept and will be very brave about people reccing authors/books I have issues with, including some DSP authors, if that happens. But internally, I am going to be Bob Belcher and complain the whole time lol

Tumblr media
Hi, I'm an author of gay romance stories. I had pretty severe writer's block for a while now, so the money is not coming in very fast right now. If at all. I would love to have help from tumblr to find some new readers for the stories I already have out. Some of my books are free, and a lot are available through your library (if they use Hoopla).
Amazon
Google Play
Hoopla
Payhip
ITunes
Barnes & Noble
Kobo
Scribd
My stories won't be to everyone's taste, of course, but perhaps if some people are willing to reblog or download a story, I will find some new readers, even though I haven't been super productive lately. I was doing all right when I could write a story a month, but that speed didn't prove sustainable for me.
I tend towards writing sweet and low heat, but not always, and towards shorter rather than longer stories (though not always). I've published with Dreamspinner Press in the past but now I'm exclusively indie (and planning to stay that way unless things improve in the publishing industry). I don't use Kindle Unlimited right now because the low pay wasn't worth giving them exclusivity.
Tumblr media
Thanks for looking, and take care!
Hollis

YOUR MOM'S NOVEL IS WHAT
HAHAH mom was huge into lotr cast rpf in the early naughts and wrote some really lovely viggo/orlando AUs, the two biggest of which were Breathing Room and Freedom. Freedom is the one she reworked into an original book and published with Dreamspinner Press years later. Check it out! (Lol I guess I have some newish followers lately so if you want to support independent authors you could always buy my moms book. She’d be thrilled!)

Hey I just wanted you to know I started watching your YouTube reviews and love the way you dissect the books. I'm always in for new long form videos and within days I'd binged your video reviews and I'm rewatching them as well. I'm also interested in looking into getting one or some of your books. Which one would you recommend the most as a starting point, and what's the best way to purchase it to get you max revenue?
Firstly thank you..... thank you! This is all still very wild.
The best place is to get my books Gumroad, ish. You can get the PDF and ePub versions of Good Angel and Bad End there, and it gives me the most direct money for it- especially as it's 5£ minimum, pay what you want. I have some free little poetry books there too.
However, print wise we only have that dreaded Amazon. Print on demand and all, best pricing. It does come in soft and hard cover, and the hard looks super nice.
Tumblr media
Amazon also has Angel Radio, my other novel. But.....
Angel Radio is from a small press- Harmony Ink/Dreamspinner! This means I don't have solo distribution rights and thus don't have it on Gumroad. But it does mean it's properly in from an ISBN and all, meaning you can buy it from most booksellers. So please do that. I think you should be able to even ask your local bookstores to order it in for you. I don't get much money from it either ways- as that's royalties, baby!
As for where to start, it depends. I think Good Angel is better than Angel Radio, but then, I did write it, y'know, later. Bad End is very much some of my fav stuff I've done and I really, really like it.
Good Angel/Bad End is a slice of life meeting impending dreadful apocalypse about friendship and weird angels and hope. It's silly and funky at times while still having some quite dark moments (it is Not for younger readers). It's also extremely, extremely LGBT+ and I especially wanted to do a lot with IDs you don't see often, so there's fun with gender and pronouns and angel cultural norms. GA/BE is a bit weird but I just wanted to write something FOR ME- if you are into angels/demons/theology, if you like Good Omens, if you want something with a unique structure, start there.
Angel Radio is something I need to reread. You know it's like eight years old? My memory is very bad so I honestly don't recall it too well and one day will reread it for my own book review blog! Angel Radio is more conventional than GA/BE: it's a YA book totally fine for ages like 13+, and mostly an excuse to have fun with freaky bodyhorror angels in the post apocalypse. It's a road trip story where one character pretends she isn't mentally rattled by being the sole survivor of the alien angel apocalypse, and walks up the highway through Vermont. It's still pretty weird- because y'know, I'm me- but shorter and snappier than GA/BE.
What you read is up to you. And hopefully one day I'll have even more books to talk too long about!

cleaning up my email accounts including the account I used to use for all my work stuff means finding a folder (from a previous cleanup attempt) called just DSP and in it are a bunch of the newsletters from Dreamspinner's "not paying/paying authors late/paying authors wrong and blaming it on weather/accounting apps/the pandemic/bad employees" era and I am really glad I saved those. oh my god.
I also have several emails from my day job at the time of the start of the pandemic of our DM (who works from home anyway) making fun of all the employees who didn't want to work with the public during a deadly pandemic for some reason. Weird.
Anyway, fuck DSP, but a special FUCK YOU, JAY to our DM.
(To clarify, this was March 2020. Italy was locked down. New Yorkers were dying. And California was seriously making plans "in case" a full shut down was needed--meaning the National Guard would be armed and enforcing lockdowns and curfews. So you can see a) why people wouldn't want to come into work for their low wage jobs and b) how I was a little stressed at the time.)
(Also it wasn't the pandemic, it was DSP's cultlike obsession with dominating m/m publishing causing them to take money from authors without consulting them and then lie about it. Badly.)

Seen the Mona Lisa in person; published a book (RIP Dreamspinner Press, you were the worst of us); met George Takei once; been to North America, Europe, and Asia
All the hyper specific polls remind me of the game Never Have I Ever. So guess what, that's what I'm doing. (Though I might include one that I have done so I can see the answers. Most being things that I would want to do.)

[Free eBook] The Mastermind by Amy Lane [LGBT+ Romantic Suspense]
The Mastermind by Amy Lane is the 1st novel in the Long Con Adventures series of m/m romantic suspense, free for a limited time courtesy of LGBT+ specialist publisher Dreamspinner Press.
This is offered to help promote the recent release of the latest novel, The Face Man, with an accompanying discount on the rest of the series (The Driver is discounted to 99 cents, and others at 25% off).
The series is contemporary romantic suspense centred around m/m eventual couples of which at least one member belongs to the Salinger Crew of upscale thieves, con artists, and assorted support staff, as they have adventures on the shady side of life and occasionally encounters with people outside their lifestyle.
This 1st novel is a second chance reunion romance between a former pickpocket and his old flame turned disgraced news network CEO, as they assemble a gang to pull a scheme to expose the accusers' plot.
Offered DRM-free worldwide through Monday, November 6th, directly from the publisher's website and other retailers.
Currently free @ the publisher's website (available worldwide until just before midnight Eastern Time) (DRM-free ePub/Mobi/PDF bundle; requires account signup with billing address but no payment info) and also with DRM at @ retailers Amazon (probably until midnight Pacific time for the main store, also available regionally at the UK, Canada, and other site variants), Barnes & Noble (US only) and @ Kobo, Google Play, iTunes (all probably available worldwide, but might be limited to some regional stores)
Description Once upon a time in Rome, Felix Salinger got caught picking his first pocket and Danny Mitchell saved his bacon. The two of them were inseparable… until they weren’t.
Twenty years after that first meeting, Danny returns to Chicago, the city he shared with Felix and their perfect, secret family, to save him again. Felix’s news network—the business that broke them apart—is under fire from an unscrupulous employee pointing the finger at Felix. An official investigation could topple their house of cards. The only way to prove Felix is innocent is to pull off their biggest con yet.
But though Felix still has the gift of grift, his reunion with Danny is bittersweet. Their ten-year separation left holes in their hearts that no amount of stolen property can fill. A green crew of young thieves looks to them for guidance as they negotiate old jewels and new threats to pull off the perfect heist—but the hardest job is proving that love is the only thing of value they’ve ever had.
