⠀ ⠀ ── . 🛹 𖦹 ⋆ ࣪. dream in college
happy reading. requested. library.
haechan. leather jackets. a different vape every day. smoking in the parking lot at night. he always carries a pair of headphones, wired ones. talks with everyone but lowkey lonely. attends to parties often, he's the guy you'd ask your friend to introduce you to. he's an open book, but at the same time he's full of secrets. if you take away all the jokes he makes, he's actually intelligent. relaxed. he'd probably do well in economics or administration. a first-class heartthrob, flirting comes out lightly and easily. or so they say, because when it comes to you, haechan is just a whole bunch of babbling and gaffes.
chenle. law or finance. he sees himself managing his family's company. no one beats him in class discussions, no one except you. you'd probably start a rivalry that grows and grows until you can't stand to see each other in the same place. expensive cars, elite parties, and a scandal in a hotel room. although his parents have mansions and luxurious apartments all over the world, he prefers the comfort of university dormitories. he doesn't attend parties much, his father cut off his credit card when he gave the whole party rounds of alcohol last time. he's pretty good at the dead stare when someone says something stupid. probably has the appearance of being petty, but in reality he's a moron with a lot of money. has a soft spot for smart girls, that's why he can't stand liking you.
mark. he misses most of the classes, but he's a brainiac. a bit popular but only because he's friends with popular people. doesn't know how he got the girl. architecture or robotics. he doesn't like parties very much but he attends because you're there. loud music on headphones. paper crafts . love letters. if you invite him home to study, you end up watching movies. and then when you fall asleep on his shoulder, he has no choice but fall asleep with you, head over yours. his hand somehow ends up intertwined with your fingers when you wake up. he's definitely not calm when it comes to you. he always shows how much he likes you. you simply don't read his misinterpreted signs well.
jeno. parent's sweetheart. multifaceted. bruises and sweat from the lacrosse team. he must maintain his sports scholarship by getting good grades, so he asks you for help. to you? a four-eyed one? what a horror! he breaks the prototype of a tough boy, he doesn't really know how big and strong he is. sometimes he gets tongue tied when he gets nervous... it happens a lot around you when you ask him big questions. he hasn't decided a career yet, so he takes some basic subjects. you make it look easy, he wishes he could have your brain, but he's satisfied with hearing you talk and talk and talk... he is also an easy sleeper. if he goes to parties it's because he's dragged you with him, but in the end his friends get all his attention and he leaves you at your mercy. his eyes, however, stay on you at all times, and his gaze becomes heavier when he sees you talking to a guy across the room.
jaemin. founder of the group of loners. a pair of girlfriends with one boy. he's always in big crowds but usually because he makes friends with outgoing people, so he ultimately attends to some parties. he's the guy you ask to take care of your drink when you go to the bathroom. physics and engineering. that he doesn't talk much attracts attention, he doesn't realize he's alluring because of that. you always see him waiting for someone on your way home, his gaze detaches from his phone the exact time you alert his presence. you're the last one out of the building. there's no reason for him to be waiting for someone, unless that person has left him standing. but you don't worry much and you continue on your way; perhaps, on another occasion, jaemin will be brave enough to confess that whenever you see him outside, it's him, waiting for you.
jisung. became popular without knowing how. college jackets, non-prescription glasses, karaoke nights. being shy makes him charming to cheerleaders. he's not very good at drinking, so he's always sprawled on a couch neglected by his friends at a party, always in your care out of obligation. quite lighthearted, sometimes you understand why people find him attractive. he'd go for whatever career his best friend chooses, he doesn't really care. he's gets talkative, and affectionate when drunk, telling you repeatedly how much he loves you and that he would choose you a thousand times over anyone. you only asked him if he wanted water.
renjun. painting or sculpture. quiet bus ride. childhood friends. shared headphones. in one way or another you distanced each other at college. now he has new friends, but keep waiting for you after class. don't go to parties much, he sometimes prefers to stay at home, he doesn't really like the idea of seeing you hook up with guys. he tucks you to bed when you knock on his apartment by mistake, and kisses you back even though you're drunk. or maybe you weren't. every time he has to paint or sculpture the model on top of the podium in the middle of the class, his gaze doesn't even pay attention to them, and he ends up drawing you.

Kid
Arsenal Women x Teen!Reader
Summary: You join Arsenal Women at age sixteen
Moving to England hadn't exactly been your plan when you started to play football.
To be honest, there hadn't been a plan at all, seeing as you were four when your parents first signed you up for your local academy in Sweden. It was just an excuse to keep you out of the house, so your parents didn't have to take time off work to look after you when school finished.
It helped that your school was partnered with the academy so a representative would come and walk all the academy students there and back.
Football may have been a convenience but it was clear to everyone that you were somewhat of a prodigy. Linköping Fc signed you as soon as they could, forcing you to make the move from your tiny town to the city.
Your parents were more than happy to finance the move - the kind of parents that happily parent from a distance but brag to all of their friends about how smart, how talented their daughter was.
You were happy to be rid of them.
You were even happier to get the callup for the National Team for the World Cup.
Your chest thudded in your throat when you received the call. You hadn't thought you would get the call-up, not when you were so young, so you had been at a café with some of your school friends when your phone rang.
You had picked it up absentmindedly and almost passed out from shock when Peter revealed he wanted you on the team.
The World Cup came and went and the bronze medal you won stayed with you. You had flat-out refused to give it over to your parents, who wanted to put it in the trophy cabinet in a house you no longer lived in.
The high of the World Cup bled into the high of getting a call to sign for Arsenal.
You hadn't even really thought about it.
You just accepted.
Which was how you had gotten here, rocking back and forth on the balls of your feet as you waited for Stina to lock her car and walk in with you.
●~●~●~●~
You couldn't help but look at your jersey in awe. Your number combined with your last name on the back of an Arsenal jersey felt like a dream come true.
"There she is," Amanda said when you finally wandered into the meeting room, free from media duty. She pushed out a chair that was clearly meant for you at the table she was sitting at.
You sat in the seat awkwardly, suddenly feeling shy and awkward.
"This is y/n," Amanda said to the others, presenting you to them like you were someone really exciting.
"Hi, y/n. I'm Jen."
You didn't tell her that you already knew who she was, who they all were. You just sat there and let everyone introduce themselves to you because that was the polite thing to do.
"Hi."
"You're young, aren't you?" Asked Kim, even though you knew that she probably already knew that.
You nodded though. "Yeah." Your voice was barely above a whisper. "I'm sixteen."
"But she's a superstar." It was nice of Amanda to butt in. It saved you from having to speak.
"I think we know that," McCabe said with an eye roll," I think we all saw that match-winning goal against Australia."
You winced slightly as you snuck a glance to McCabe's other side where Catley sat, the very defender that you megged before scoring your goal.
Your eyes widened in horror when she made eye contact. "Sorry." You looked down at your lap, hiding your shaking hands under the table.
"Don't sweat it, kid," Catley replied with an easy grin," No hard feelings. It was a good call." She smirked at you. "Though, the deer in headlights look you had after it went in was pretty funny."
Laughter rang out through the group and you relaxed marginally, groaning at the reminder. Everyone you knew had sent that picture to you and you knew for a fact that it was still circulating the internet as a meme.
●~●~●~●~
It was easy to settle into life at Arsenal.
You were still shy and awkward off the pitch but you fit in well with the other girls and Lina, Stina and Amanda were always ready to sweep you away when they noticed you getting too overwhelmed.
Somewhere along the way Catley became Steph and McCabe became Katie.
You weren't really sure when that happened but it was a welcome change from when you first joined.
"Come on, kid. You've been studying too much," Katie said as an arm dragged you away from your laptop to where the others were playing FIFA.
You were dumped between Less and Vic while Lina laughed.
"She's always studying."
You rolled your eyes. "Just because you don't have to go to school anymore, doesn't mean that I don't."
"Online school isn't really school," Cloe said before swearing when Gio scored another goal," It's like...school without the deadlines."
"Except the deadline is before Christmas," You replied with a huff," I have essays to write, Katie! Let me go!"
"Don't let her go, girls," Katie said from where she was curled up with Caitlin.
Alessia mockingly saluted as she bracketed you in her arms while Vic pinned down your legs.
"Less! Vic!" You squawked as you tried to wiggle away from them.
Their holds were unrelenting and made even worse when Kyra popped up out of nowhere, digging her fingers into your side and tickling you like you had personally offended her or something.
"Stop! Stop!" You laughed, tears running down your face as Kyra remained unrelenting. "Cait-Caitlin! Caitlin, help!"
Caitlin looked at you thoughtfully, humming to herself before giving you a faux look of sympathy. "Sorry, y/n, I can't. You see, I'm still holding a grudge against you for grabbing that bronze medal." She winked to let you know she was joking.
"Oh, come on!"
●~●~●~●~
It took you nearly two weeks of being in London to meet the ACL squad and it was only because Kathrine slid in for a tackle at the wrong time and hit your ankle.
You hadn't even been on the ground for that long but it was enough that Jonas sent Gio to take you to the physios to get it taped up with an extremely apologetic Kathrine following after you.
"I'm so sorry," She was saying when Gio shepherded you into the room," I'll make up for it. How does one of those big jelly baby packs sound?"
"I'm not allowed to eat them," You replied," Stina said that they'll rot my teeth."
"Fine, fine, I'll think of something. How about dinner? I'll buy you dinner for your cheat day. Just tell me when."
You rolled your eyes, having no intention of doing so but still nodded.
"What's up with all this commotion?"
You had to admit, seeing Leah Williamson in person made you feel a little starstruck and you immediately retreated into yourself.
Gio jerked her thumb at Kathrine. "Kuhl hurt the kid and seeing as we need the kid, Jonas wants her ankle taped."
"My ankle's fine," You said stubbornly but allowed a physio to usher you onto the bed between Goldie and Wienriother. You gave them both one of your trademark awkward smiles as you let the physio pull off your boot and socks.
You didn't want to look at your ankle, already knowing it was bruised by the way that you saw Goldie wince sympathetically at you while the physio moved away to grab some ice.
"That looks nasty," She said," Does it hurt?"
"Not too bad."
"I'm Teyah, by the way."
"y/n."
"I know." She smiled at you. "It's nice that there's someone younger than me and Naomi now."
You looked down bashfully. "Happy to be of service."
Next to you, Weinriother laughed. "Don't mind Teyah, she's just glad no one will call her kid anymore. I'm Laura, by the way."
"And I'm Beth!" She leaned over Laura to shake your hand before indicating to where her girlfriend was being worked on. "That's Viv, she's a little prickly sometimes but if you ever need some peace and quiet, I'm sure she wouldn't mind you sitting with her."
You nodded, still feeling a little awkward even though the tension had disappeared.
"You're living with Stina, right?" Leah asked," How's that going?"
"Good," You replied, focussed on the way that the physio was moving your ankle," She lets me play music on the speakers while I study."
Leah laughed. "I live right round the corner. If you ever need a break, feel free to pop in. I reckon I'm more fun than Stina anyway."
●~●~●~●~
You hated asking for help.
You hated it even more when you had to ask for help on schoolwork.
You were smart. You knew you were smart. If there were two things that a lack of parents in your life gave you, it was excellent football skills and the ability to solve your own problems.
But this maths section in your textbook was causing you more pain than a Katie tackle in training ever could.
You glanced around the room. The media room was almost always empty at this time of day - the two and a half hour window between morning training and the gym session.
Almost everyone lived close so headed back home to rest before coming back. Stina had asked if you wanted to head back home with her but you decided not to, needing to finish your maths homework.
Lina had asked if you wanted her to drop you off on her way to her own place as well but you didn't relent.
You hunkered down in the media room with your textbook and, after just over an hour, your eyes stung like you hadn't slept in three days.
You glanced around again and finally swallowed your pride.
"Frida?" You asked the least intimidating person in the room," Can you help me?"
She looked up from her phone. "What is it?" She dragged your textbook towards her. "Oh! I can help!"
Despite her optimism, within a few seconds, it became clear that Frida could absolutely not help you. The more she read through your problems, the deeper her frown got until she was holding a pencil between her fingers and mouthing the question to herself as if that would help her understand.
She looked positively ill when she looked up at you before she cleared her throat. "Lia? Do you know how to do fancy algebra?"
Lia, from across the room, sighed as she approached. "I used to be quite good at algebra," She boasted," What's the problem?"
"Algebra," You deadpanned, shoving the textbook and your notepad at her," Help."
To her credit, she got further than Frida did, jotting down her working out before falling at the last hurdle - just like you did. She frowned. "Give me a second."
She rewrote all of her work but still ended up stumped at the same place as before.
"Kim? Jen? How were you at maths in school?"
Kim and Jen tried to help as well but it was like the blind leading the blind. You were going around in circles.
"When are you going to need this in life?" Kim said, drawing a line through her most reason equation and sighing.
"Unless you want to be an engineer, never." Jen sighed and flipped the book shut. "You don't want to be an engineer, do you, kid?"
"I'm happy playing football."
●~●~●~●~
If you weren't doing schoolwork at every spare moment, it was safe to say that you napping.
Back at National Camp, it wasn't uncommon to find you curled up in bed or with your head in Frido's lap while everyone watched a movie.
It seemed that your need to nap every moment you weren't occupied had carried over to England.
It got a little embarrassing the first few times you had been caught napping in the communal space. It was even worse when you woke up to Viv staring down at you with an unreadable look on her face, taking in your form curled up under your travel blanket.
You had smiled nervously as she stood in front of you, unmoving.
When Beth appeared through the door a moment later, Viv shushed her sternly and tucked your blanket up over your shoulders again, taking a seat nearby with a book.
Beth, it seemed, hadn't been able to keep her mouth shut about it so your constant naps had just become an expected thing and, after Leah had accidentally woken you up and gotten yelled at by Viv for it, the team tended to just leave you alone.
You were slightly delirious and warm when you woke up from your nap, eyes fluttering open and then shut again.
The low murmur of chatter let you know that contrary to when you started your nap, you were now no longer alone.
You were still quite confused, brain still thick with sleep, but you could recognise Sabrina's Canadian-accented English so you gathered that the keepers had finished their morning practice and had found you asleep in the media room.
You also recognised that your head was now slightly elevated so one of them must have moved your head into their lap while you slept. That was nice. Sometimes you would wake up with a crook in your neck from sleeping on the beat-up sofa that Leah swore she was one bad back away from replacing herself.
Your eyes fluttered open again, blearily blinking.
Across from you, Naomi laughed. "The kid's awake."
"I'm not a kid," You said stubbornly even though you were," You're not that much older than me."
"Still older," Naomi replied.
Next to her, Sabrina laughed.
That meant that Manu was sitting with you, your head in her lap. She laughed as well, jolting you slightly as you clutched your travel blanket tighter around your body.
You yawned.
"How long until gym?"
"Hour and a bit," Came Manu's answer.
You hummed and yawned a second time.
"Don't tell me you're going back to sleep," Sabrina said.
"Fine. I won't tell you."
●~●~●~●~
You spent the first few matches stuck on the bench.
You were young and not as experienced as your teammates so it made sense that you would be stuck there for the time being. Besides, it made you feel a little bit better that Kyra was stuck on the bench as well so you had someone who acted younger than you to muck around with.
"Chin up," Laia said with a grin, an arm thrown over your shoulder as she walked onto the pitch with you for warmups," You're starting today. Aren't you excited?"
"You look more excited than me," You replied a little sourly," I...I feel a little sick if I'm honest."
"You'll do great."
"So long as you tie your boots correctly and don't trip," Noelle said in way of greeting.
Your cheeks lit up in flames instantly at the reminder of training a few days ago when Beth had snuck up behind you and made a stupid sound in your ear. You had jumped into the air in shock and your laces weren't tied correctly so you tripped over your own feet and went tumbling to the ground in a way that made you look clumsier than Alessia.
"Don't be mean," Lotte chastised as the four of you passed a ball around," y/n knows how to properly tie her laces." She sent you a teasing smile and a shrug. "Besides, I'm sure she'll have some of the older girls lining up to make sure they're done properly."
You huffed as you kicked the ball back to her. You spun on your heel. "You're all mean," You declared," I'm gonna warm up with Vic and Less."
●~●~●~●~
The ninety minutes of your debut match were gruelling.
The ball went back and forth between the teams. Every shot that went in was equalised quickly. Everyone was growing tired, especially when five minutes of extra time was awarded and Katie was one dirty tackle away from earning herself a yellow card.
You took a moment to catch your breath, pulling up your socks before breaking into a sprint.
The opposing team's defence was in shambles and you could see their goalkeeper getting antsy.
A long ball from Katie fell neatly into Alessia's feet and she began her run.
You followed after her quickly as the opposing defence broke their line. It was carnage for a moment as you both approached the box.
The goalkeeper came off her line ever so slightly as the defence mobbed Alessia, who passed quickly to you.
Your foot moved automatically as you chipped the ball over the goalkeeper's head and into the back of the net.
Your instincts got you the goal so when your brain finally caught up, you were sporting the same look on your face as the one you had when you won against Australia.
The final whistle rang out as you stood there in shock.
Half a moment later, the team crashed into you.
Less made it to you first, pulling you in for a tight hug before everyone else converged on you.
You felt a bit like a dog, with the amount of head pats you were receiving but the blinding smile on your face more than made up for it - especially when Viv meandered over and gave you a hug and congratulations.
"Come on, l/n!" Katie cheered as she dragged you through the victory lap. "Party tonight! I'll pay for the drinks!"
"She's sixteen," Lina reminded her.
"I didn't say we had to go out to a pub! It's legal for sixteen-year-olds to drink at home! What do you say, kid?"
You laughed. "Good luck getting Stina to agree."

Life hasn't been easy for you, not even now, exhaustion evident on your face, you just want to go home and have a good rest on weekends like you always do.
Working under one of the big 3 companies was not easy, and you know it, yet you still work there and even achieve being their head of finance.
After you reach home, all your exhaustion goes through the window when you see your daughter waiting patiently with her nanny at your doorstep.
She's greeting you with a sweet smile plastered on her face with a piece of paper that she held proudly on her chest.
“Seok kyung!” You open your arms towards her. She reciprocates by running to you and wraps her tiny hands on your back.
“Did you be a good girl today? you're not causing a problem, are you?” she giggles between your questions and shakes her head no.
“I'm not mommy! Miss Jiwoo also said I'm good today and she gives me 5 stars!” She gave you her paper full of stars, you gasped at her answer, then smiled widely.
“really? My baby is so smart!” You take her inside while Seok kyung's nanny helps you by taking your bag and you mouth a ‘thank you’ to her as she smiles at you.
Having Seok kyung was not on your plan, at least until you found out that you're pregnant 5 years ago with her, and your pregnancy is seven weeks old.
When you first tell your boyfriend– now ex, Jeonghan, that you’re pregnant and you want to keep it, arguments start to happen.
He’s arguing that he's not yet ready to be a father and he doesn't want you to keep it, whereas you argue back that even though you're both not as ready as anyone else to be a parents, you still wants to keep it, you can learn together how to be a good parents, they done nothing wrong, so if you aborted them, wouldn't it be cruel?
Arguments keep happening since then, and it took you 3 days to finally break up with him, if he doesn't want the baby so be it, you're willing to give up on your 6 years relationship for your baby.
And now here you are, a single mother on the peak of your 30s with a daughter and a stable job that can give you more than enough money to live with your daughter.
There's so much purchase that you buy for your future, like a car, a house, maids, and even a nanny to take care of your daughter while you're working.
When you're on a business trip, though, you bring her with you because it makes you not worry too much about her.
“Sweetheart, mommy's having a business trip tomorrow. Do you want to come with me, or do you want to stay here with Uncle Joshua?” You asked Seok kyung after bathing with her and putting on clothes for both of you.
She makes the ‘think’ gesture first and answers you with excitement in her voice, “I want to go with mommy! Will we go with a plane again?” You lightly chuckles and stroke her hair softly.
“Yes, we will, baby. Let's pack up first, yeah?” She nods her head and runs towards your walk-in closet to take a big suitcase.
[ఇ ◝‿◜ ఇ]
Now you're in the first class lounge, waiting for your airplane to open the gate for boarding.
Seok kyung playing games on her Ipad while you were reviewing the proposal your team has been working on for over a month.
After a couple minutes of waiting, your gate has finally opened for boarding, and you usher Seok kyung to get up from the couch and walk to the boarding gate.
On the other hand, Jeonghan thinks he might be dreaming when he sees you with a little girl on his plane boarding gate, smiles attached to your and her face while walking hand-in-hand.
It's been years since he last saw you, the last time was when he fucked up your relationship, feeding only his ego then at the end all of his mistake was the cause of your break up.
His first serious relationship that he cherished the most comes to an end, and it was not in a good way.
Jeonghan knew he was the wrong one, and the only one who can be blamed for your ruined relationship, you've done nothing wrong, but in his eyes that time, you've done more than the wrong things he imagined.
There’s a hard pang he feels in his heart when he sees you. He spent almost every hour in a day stalking your social media, and he always wanted to be the one who you'll always mention in your post.
He felt the hurt in his heart more when he saw your posting almost 5 years ago. It's a picture of one pair of tiny feet on your hand, but for him, it's not only a picture of a baby feets, it's a photo of his daughter, the one he left when you're only seven weeks pregnant.
When he got your notification, he almost immediately checked on his phone when he saw you updating your life with Seok kyung (he learned that was her name when one of your friends mentioned it in the comment section).
All of your updates have always been successful to bring a smile to his face.
Jeonghan always wondered what his life would be if he shortly apologised after the first argument, would Seok kyung love him? Will he be a good dad? Will you get married and live a happy life for the rest of your life just like you both had planned when your relationship entered 3 years?
The questions are always running on his mind 24/7, wanting no more than to run to you, holding both your hand and Seok kyung on his, kneeling in front of you and muttering apologise after apologise until you forgive him.
But that seems to be an impossible act. Before he knew it, he had already gotten on the plane and sat on his seat.
When he turns around, his body freezes upon seeing you and Seok kyung on your seats, playing like there's nobody else in the world.
After what feels like an eternity, the plane finally takes off, Jeonghan’s hoping that he won't be fast asleep because he wants to see you and your daughter– or rather, the daughter of his and yours.
A few hours have passed, and you are both fast asleep on your seat. Jeonghan called the air hostess to allow him to switch seats, luckily for him, it's not a full flight so there's a few seats left, he chooses the one who he can get closer to you, wanting to observe your little family a little bit more.
He can see the little detail on her face, he can see the manifestation of your and his love, she got your lips and eyes, meanwhile her nose and hair seems to be more likely to his.
Suddenly, tears started to brimming in his eyes. Why can't he accept his fate? Why can’t he do what a good fiancé will do when their fiancée says that she's pregnant? Why can't he seem to never be good enough to enroll in your life again?
Tears fell down from his eyes down his chin, then dropped to his lap.
oh, how he wished he could turn back time.
[ఇ ◝‿◜ ఇ]
“baby? baby, you need to get up. Today is still thursday, and you have to get ready to work” Jeonghan can't believe what he's hearing, your sweet voice filling both of his ears.
Realising that it was, indeed, your voice, he immediately sat up from his sleep figure and started to look at you with disbelief prominent on his face.
He still didn't believe his eyes, and he went as far as holding your cheeks with his hands, and you gave him a puzzled look.
“Uh, baby? what's wrong?” You asked him while raising one of your eyebrows, puzzled by his unusual behavior.
Jeonghan said nothing and just pulled you on his chest. If this is a dream, he’s hoping he will never wake up and have to live his life with the same nightmare everyday.
“Just for your information, ten minutes has passed and it's now seven past five and you can always hug me again when you get home” You said with muffled voice, and there Jeonghan let go of you, to have a better look of your face, and then smiles which you reciprocated with the same.
“Okay then, I have to go shower even though I still want to cuddle with you, am i?” You nod at his words and get off the bed.
Jeonghan finally comes to his senses and gets off from the bed, heading towards the bathroom, a wide smile still attached to his face.
After he got out of the shower, his ironed work attire already sat on his bed. It's the daily activity you would do, preparing his work attire when he showers.
Jeonghan still remembers how you two would act like a married couple, like a husband and wife, even long before your engagement.
When he goes downstairs, he searches for you, and when he does get to see you, you're in your kitchen, cooking breakfast and preparing lunch for him.
He never eats in the office canteen because the lunch you made has already made his stomach full, and he makes sure to tell you everytime he gets home from work.
Jeonghan checks the dates and months on his phone, and when he opens it.
January 16th, 2021
30 days before you announce that you're pregnant, he hopes that he can be here forever so he can fix everything for both of you.
“Love? Eat your breakfast first, and here's your lunch” back in the day, Jeonghan never appreciated your dish like he should, he only said ‘thanks’ before eating it half and then got up and went to the basement of your Maisonette apartment.
Jeonghan eagerly sat on the dining table and started to dig into the breakfast that you made, which is kimchi fried rice with seaweed on the side.
You look at him confused because Jeonghan is usually not this enthusiastic with your dish, but of course, you're happy to see Jeonghan eating your dish like this.
When he's done, Jeonghan goes to the sink and washes his plate and eateries.
“The food is so good sweetheart, can't wait to eat my lunch that you packed for me. Thank you, angel” He said, then kissed the top of your head with love, and that made you let out giggles.
“You're welcome. You better get go on though, there's a little traffic on the way to your office when i opened the maps earlier”
And does he already mention that you're always checking the maps before him?
After bidding you a goodbye, Jeonghan closed the front door and went straight to the basement, ready for probably a long day at work.
In the modern day, Jeonghan is already the vice president of the marketing department, so it shouldn't be that hard now.
He knows you're working remotely, so he doesn't need to worry about you getting late to your office.
In a matter of hours, lunch and working hours have passed, it is now five past six, and Jeonghan hurriedly tidying his office desk to go home.
Unluckily for him, the traffic is worse than the previous one in the morning where he got one, which makes him get home 15 minutes late.
Now it's 5:45, and he made it home before it got dark, wanting no more than to throw himself on your hugs.
“I'm home!” he announces as he kicks his shoes and places them on the shoe racks.
His ears perked up when he heard your hurried footsteps, coming down from the second floor.
“Long traffic? I've seen the route from your office to here. You should probably go shower. What do you want for dinner? I’ll make it” you said as you practically ran after you got off the stairs to him.
Jeonghan smiled. He really missed your attention for the past years he’s not with you.
So he answers you with the meals you and him like, Kimchi stew and after that he brings your lips to his for a chaste kiss that makes you blush and slap his chest lightly and whine his name.
Jeonghan just chuckles lightly, and he runs towards your shared bedroom to have a shower.
Once he gets out of the shower, he rushes out to your dining rooms, excited for the Kimchi stew you make.
Until now, Jeonghan only likes the Kimchi stew made by his mom and yours because he found comfort in them. He already tried to like Kimchi stew from the restaurants, but it never beat yours nor his mother's.
He misses these moments, where you and he will eat together in your shared maisonette, eating with happy giggles always left on both your lips, and the satisfied feelings when he's eating your dishes again with you sitting on the opposite of his seat.
“I love the meal, angel. you're such a good cook, i know you're going to be a good mom someday” He knows you're a good mom, Seok kyung always looks so happy when she's with you.
His words make you blush, and you try to hide it by burying your face on your hands, Jeonghan laugh and get up from his seat to hug you from your back, “I mean it, you're good at cooking and will be a good mom to our kids” then he kisses the top of your head before getting your and his bowl to wash it.
[ఇ ◝‿◜ ఇ]
February 15th, 2021
1 day before your announcement, everything goes more than well. He just has to stick with his plan, and he hopes he can change his future with you.
Jeonghan sometimes sees you when you're throwing up in your bathroom and always asks if you want him to go to the pharmacy nearby, but you always shake your heads no.
He tried to build a happy relationship with you. He wants to treat you with the treatments you deserve. He wants to love you like he should before the downfall.
He wants Seok kyung to have a life like the other kids, having a mother and father figure.
Jeonghan was living his old life, like usual, going to work 9 to 5, going out with you every weekend, and telling you how much he loves you everytime he could.
He just got off from work. When you suddenly started to put distance between you, he furrowed his eyebrows, creating creases on his forehead.
He vividly remembers that this was not in his memory.
Did he do something wrong? Why are you putting distance towards him? Does his plan not work? Do you want to get off of him? His thoughts are running hundreds of miles per hour, thinking of the worst scenario in his head.
The next day comes fast. Last night, Jeonghan had already emailed his boss that he’s taking 2 weeks off and requested to do work from home because his fiancée is pregnant. His boss doesn't waste another single time as she reads it. She accepts Jeonghan's request.
Jeonghan’s nervous. Could he really change the future?
“Jeonghan,” There is it, your voice calling his name, it means you will have a serious conversation with him.
You look so afraid that you couldn't see him in the eyes, your eyes attached to the ground beneath you, Jeonghan can see that you're trembling, so initiated to take you by your shoulders and told you to sit in front of him.
“What's wrong, honey?” Jeonghan asks, worried plastered on his face.
“I'm pregnant with your child. It's seven weeks old” you said hurriedly while giving him the test, the ultrasounds, and the doctor's examination letter.
In the past timeline, Jeonghan already cuts you off when you said you're pregnant with his child, never letting you finish your words.
“I want to keep the baby” you said again while fiddling with your hands on your lap.
Jeonghan couldn't be happier than he is now, Seok kyung will recognize him as her father, not a stranger.
“Okay, keep the baby. We both know that we have a minimal knowledge to be parents, but we will learn together” Jeonghan answered you, with his tear-filled eyes he held your chin up, so your eyes were at the same level as him.
You looked at him in disbelief. Jeonghan can see your tears already spilling from your eyes, so he wipes your tears from your cheeks with his thumbs.
The distance between you both grows smaller, Jeonghan wastes no time to crush your lips together and give you a long, chaste kiss.
He pulled out first, giving you and him a room for air, “Thank you, baby, thank you” He connects your foreheads, smiling as he looks at you.
That night was spent with you on the held of Jeonghan's hand, sleeping after watching a few videos of how to be a good parent and early pregnancy care.
Jeonghan doesn't want anything other than this, having his life with you in it.
[ఇ ◝‿◜ ఇ]
Jeonghan eyes shoot open when he hears the sound of a film beside him. He remembers that he was sitting alone, wait–
when he turns his head to the right, there's a window, ‘no no no no no’ he thought to himself.
If he's in the present time, that means everything he sees, he feels, is it only his dream? but he dared to turn his head to the other side, wanting to see who was sat beside him.
He can't buy what he's seeing right now, Seok kyung is sat beside him while you're sat beside her.
Seok kyung looked at her side when she felt something was moving, “Mommy! daddy's already wake up!” her eyes light up when she speaks with you.
“Got a nice dream, huh? you passed out for like, 10 hours of our flight, we're landing in 30 minutes” you say with a teasing smile on your face, Jeonghan's confused, trying to regain his mind.
Then it clicks, he was not dreaming, he really changed his future, Seok kyung known him as her father, not a stranger.
When he sees his right hand, there's a wedding ring, so this is the ending he gets. He really gets his happy ending, with Seok kyung, and most importantly, you.
“Love, you're okay?” You ask with cautiousness, Jeonghan seems unusual after his 10 hours sleep.
He then answers you hurriedly, “yes, i'm fine, i'm just zoning out” Jeonghan answers, and in a split seconds, he pulls you both for a long hug.
You and Seok kyung chuckles when Jeonghan doesn't want to let both of you go, and when he did, he leaned in to kiss you on the lips.
This is resulting in his daughter whines ‘i want to be kissed too!’ That, of course, Jeonghan accomplished, giving his beloved kisses on her cheeks, forehead, and lips.
Jeonghan can finally live his life with goods waiting for him. He starts to forget his life before this trip, how he wanted to pray every single day to thank god.
He lives a happy life with you and Seok kyung. He will never let you go again.
His little family consisted of Yoon Jeonghan, Yoon Seok kyung, and Yoon Y/n.

Bad Days - Bart Allen x Reader
Word Count: 1,637
Summary: If the universe could just give you a break that would be great – reasonable, even, after everything that had been going on in your life. As it currently stood, that was a far-off dream. Everything had accumulated to this one moment. Stood before you was some new villain of the week, unrecognizable, whom you had been lucky enough to stumble upon during his escape. You didn’t care to know who it was – just intent on getting out of the situation before ending up a hostage.
Notes: I need this to sort of vent. Unlike the reader in here though, at least my phone was found. Did I run across to grab it out of the road? Sure. Should I have? Mm, maybe not.
…★…
Of course.
Of course, this is how your life was going for the moment. It had been an interesting enough few days to say the least. Your car had determined that it was no longer going to work for you – instead deciding to idle while your foot was on the gas before shuddering and forcing you to pull off on the side of the road. You were thankful enough the breaks were still up to doing their job. It had been one attempted fix after the other and your finances were beginning to look bleaker than normal if the current trend continued. At least without another paycheck due soon and rent due even quicker. Then in the glorious process of setting your phone on the hood while you checked over the tires, you had failed to remember the device only to realize later, after the tow-truck had dropped you off, that it was likely slung onto the road or somewhere in the abyss beside it. Never for your eyes to see again.
After days of little else going your way, you were done. With only $5 left in your account, you couldn’t miss another shift at work. No matter how badly you wanted to call out. So that left one thing to do – pull on your uniform and walk the entire way there. Something you were less than keen to do in the humidity and sun, but your options remained far too limited.
It was slow going, admittedly, running across roads and weaving through people. Desperate for a little reprieve from the sweltering heat beating down on you, the choice to cut through the back alleys was easy enough. You knew this area like the back of your hand, and you knew you had plenty of time, if the old phone your roommate had let you use was anything to be trusted.
But maybe you should have paid more attention to your surroundings. Walking on autopilot, you paid no mind to the commotion ahead, writing it off as normal Central City excitement. An unfortunate misstep, you realize, when you feel yourself collide with a solid body.
The shock has you reeling for a moment, blinking up in surprise – making dead eye contact with a man dressed in a gaudy outfit who seems just as caught off-guard as you do.
It’s a moment longer: one, two, three. And then ‘click,’ you realize exactly what is about to happen. Standing before you is some new super villain. Not a Central City regular, at least not yet if so, because you don’t recognize the device at his side or his outfit. Much less him. And you feel the dread settle in your stomach as you watch the light behind his eyes come on; you, in all of your underpaid, sweaty, too-done-with-the-universe-right-now self has just volunteered as a hostage. In reality, you had the moment you took the backways.
You have to wonder in that moment if the pros outweigh the cons: Pros, the Flash family seem cool enough that one might even run you to work afterwards – and oh, now that you think about it, that is approximately one single pro; the cons, however, you’re not in any mood to be dealing with someone who just crawled out of “Food Weekly for Villains,” you’re not in any condition to be meeting a hero, and you don’t want to show up to work roughed up more than your commute is leaving you.
You try to make a break for it, gaze set past him before moving to enter into a dead-sprint. But the cogs in his brain seem to finally be turning, which you guess explains the smell of smoke, and he catches you – just barely. But it is enough to throw you off balance and pull you back flush against himself, one arm wrapped tight around your neck.
You don’t know who he is, you don’t know what he’s capable of. Plenty of dangerous villains look like they got their outfits at a knock-off Halloween store, but they still prove to be deadly foes. It isn’t worth it to risk angering him, as giddy as he seems now, you worry that his mood could change in an instant if you try to escape. Choosing then the better option, especially with limited airflow, to keep your mouth zipped and listen to the monologue he had begun.
“I left a note for those speedy rats – and now when they show up, I’ll have even more leverage because of you. Who knew Central City would be so easy! A step up from Gotham!” He hollered, causing you to flinch as he waved his weapon in the air, tightening his grip.
Of course, he had come from Gotham. Of course.
You had to restrain yourself from rolling your eyes, just in case your captor decided to look at you when you did so. That seemed like something that the world would set up right now.
But too busy thinking of how to tune out the shrill joy of the man holding you hostage, and trying to leverage how much damage you would cause yourself trying to bust his shin, you notice a moment later than he does when a gust of wind hits and the hand that held his weapon is suddenly empty. It’s when he stops to stare at his weaponless hand that you finally notice something is wrong, before realizing someone new is standing in front of you.
“Looking for this, Condiment King?”
Your mind blanks for a moment. Condiment King? You had heard of him. Most people had. Some C-list hack of a villain out in Gotham.
You got taken hostage by fucking Condiment King?
As though the last few days and the fact you were going to be late for work from stepping straight into a criminal plan hadn’t proven to be embarrassing enough, now you were finding out you were being held hostage by one of the worst villains to exist. In front of the most attractive speedster, you realize when you get a better look at the hero before you – Impulse.
Maybe this was a sign that you should move, you reason silently in your head.
The illusion was broken when Condiment King finally seemed to realize what was happening. “It doesn’t matter, I still have a hostage.” He seemed sure of himself, as smug and almost as giddy as he had been the moment that he had grabbed you.
He tightened his hold around your neck for a moment while he spoke; you grabbed at his arm, trying to pry it away from yourself enough to keep breathing. You had to give him credit though, he was stronger than he looked, and you weren’t in the best position already. A second later you could breathe, thinking he had loosened his hold on you until you realized that your surroundings had changed. Though your back was still flush against someone’s chest, you were no longer staring at Impulse, but at Condiment King, with an arm protectively swung around your shoulders.
You didn’t need to see the speedster to hear the amused and taunting tone in his voice when he next spoke. “What hostage?”
“That isn’t fair, you-”
Condiment King’s words were cut off in the next moment, and between blinks he was gone. A gust of wind and a trail of electricity left in his wake before Impulse stood before you once more, a satisfied grin on his face. “Are you okay?”
“Uh,” you paused, trying to wrap your head around what all had just happened. “Aside from being late to work, yeah.” As you spoke you began to pat down your pockets, ensuring the few items that had been on you still were – thankful to find that was the case.
“Need a lift?”
“If you’re not too busy then please,” you practically begged, shoulders slumping in defeat.
“Where to?”
You told him where your job was and began to regret your decision when you saw the sly smile on his lips. “Hold on.”
“Hold o-” You never got to finish your sentence, instead ending it with a squeak when he lifted you up, instinctively throwing your arms around his neck. “I don’t know what I was expecting, honestly.” You admitted in surprise. Not that you minded.
It wasn’t that it took long for him to get you to work, but it almost felt like it should have taken even less time, not that you had really paid attention when you shut your eyes the moment he started moving.
The other thing you probably should have considered was that he was going to drop you off directly in front of your job. Where all of your coworkers and the patrons could see you.
As you were being held. By Impulse. Who was waiting for you to stop tensing so he could let you down safely. You did so, mostly avoiding looking too awkward before thanking him.
“Not an issue,” he assured. “Sorry I couldn’t get you here faster, but I don’t think your manager will be too mad.”
“Maybe I should just start getting kidnapped more often then if it gets me a free ride from you.”
He seemed surprised by your comment before his same amused grin returned even brighter this time. “There’s easier ways to get my attention,” he promised before winking and taking off.
His words left you frozen for a moment before they finally set in. “Oh,” you said, though it was to nobody but the air. Taking a deep breath, you readied yourself for the assured onslaught of questions to be faced once you went inside – trying to decide if you should admit just who had taken you hostage to begin with. Though, you mused, maybe it was worth it today after all.

Warming To Your Resident Murderer: Part 2
More mafia au! Part one can be found here. Also, I lied, the whump won't be coming in this part 😅 but it will in part 3 and 4!! Enjoy the first appearance of Shaoyuan's deadpan internal monologue :DDD I hope you have as much fun reading it as I do writing it 😊
-
It was never quite accurate to accuse Shaoyuan of not thinking things through before doing something. He thought things through a lot. It was why he was so good at his job. Give him a task, and he'll make precise plans, execute down them to the letter, and get the job done.
However, there were only so many tasks to give. And when Shaoyuan ran out of tasks—like, say, Aristides' request for information on Gerald Franke's finances—he found new tasks for himself.
Like, say, breaking Franke's favourite stress ball out.
The break-out was easy. Pickpocket the key from the guard, unlock the cell's gates, grab the captive, and get out. Double back to kidnap the guard as a convenient patsy, then rummage through his pockets for his car keys.
It was only as Shaoyuan was peeling away from the house with a stolen car, stolen captive, and stolen (dead) guard, did it occur to him that this was maybe a bad idea.
"Don't get caught," Aristides had said. "Try to avoid drawing attention, but if you do, make sure it isn't to us. Though I'm sure that goes without saying."
Don't get caught: check. Avoid drawing attention: check—conditionally. Shaoyuan hadn't drawn any attention for the first part of the job. But the second? Well, once they found the guard and his charge missing, he had no control over how much attention they'd give the situation. A lot, he would guess.
Which led him to the parking garage.
Humanity was great at creating sins against god, but chief among them, in Shaoyuan's honest opinion, was the parking garage. They were uncomfortably stark during off-hours, which made it near impossible to find a decent hiding place in them. Also, they smelled like exhaust fumes and gasoline, which sucked when you had enhanced senses, and were perpetually a bit wet, which was just unpleasant.
The only thing parking garages had going for them was their limited sniper sightlines and points of egress. A bodyguard's wet dream, emphasis on wet. And for all Shaoyuan's work experience, he'd never had the pleasure of trying to assassinate someone in a parking garage. He imagined he'd probably be singing a different tune if he had.
Once he parked—"parked" being a rather strong word for what he did—he sat for a moment, thinking things through.
There were a few options open to him, at this point.
One: he could kill the captive, and wash his hands clean of this mess. After a certain amount of torment, death—a clean death, especially—was a mercy. And Shaoyuan had gotten the feeling that this captive had long passed that threshold.
Two: he could call for help.
As a rule, Shaoyuan didn't call for help. He didn't need to. If he was ever in a big enough debacle that he needed to call for help, then he was probably already off to say hi to god on his way down to hell. Decades of nanoengineering advances had served to turn him into a nigh unkillable horror. Dragging someone else down with him only meant exactly that: dragging someone else down with him.
However. Someone was already here with him. Someone he'd already decided to free.
Death was a freedom, but a rather final one. If the captive opened their mouth and asked for it, right now, Shaoyuan could give it to them. But, in the very least, it would be nice to give them another option.
So, he texted Celestinus.
He didn't interact with Celestinus regularly, but he knew of him. It was an open secret that he was Aristides' partner, and a quick and dirty background check told Shaoyuan that he was once a civilian doctor, pulled into the business through underground fighting rings. It wasn't exactly clear whether he was the one fighting, or the one patching up the fighters, but Shaoyuan hadn't cared enough to dig further. Especially after he'd realized that if he was doing his job right (read: not getting shot at), he wouldn't be working with the man all that closely.
Regardless, he still had his contact information, which came in handy now.
The read receipts appeared on his messages nearly immediately, which was a real surprise. Both the read receipts, and the rapid response. It was—he checked the clock—two in the morning, which Shaoyuan had been led to believe was normal sleeping hours for reasonable people.
Then again, Celestinus was in a gang. That sort of thing usually didn't involve reasonable people.
The minutes crawled by, with no reply. Either he'd been ignored, or Celestinus was on his way here. Both options necessitated pulling the captive out of the car, because no one ever liked doing surgery in the backseat of a Nissan Altima, and no one deserved to die in the backseat of a Nissan Altima, either.
And before anyone asked, technically, Shaoyuan had killed that guard before dumping him into the trunk of the car, so it didn't count.
By the time he finished moving the captive, he heard the distant rumbling of an approaching car. It took a bit of finagling to find a decent perch along the ceiling that would hold his weight—parking garages, humanity's sins against god, etcetera—but he got into place long before the sleek black vehicle drove into sight.
He frowned. It was one of Aristides' armored SUVs, which was an interesting choice on Celestinus' part for a situation where no one would be actively shooting at him.
At least it gave him a conveniently large landing area. He dropped down onto the roof soundlessly, then knocked on the roof—after hooking a hand and a foot around the bars along the roof. That was a lesson he'd learned the hard way.
Once the car jolted to a halt—thankfully, without flinging him off this time—he peered over the roof. He hid his amusement as Celestinus startled again, then knocked against the windshield.
"Yeah, yeah," Celestinus grumbled, muffled through the glass. "Where's the fire? You look distinctly not in need of a first aid kit."
"I don't need one," he replied. "Someone else does."
"This better not be a trap."
Ah. That explained the armored vehicle. "It's not."
"Right," Celestinus said sarcastically. "Because that's something someone who's setting a trap wouldn't say."
Fair point.
To the man's credit, despite his suspicions, he still got out of the car. Which didn't exactly speak highly for Celestinus' sense of self-preservation; Shaoyuan made a note to keep an eye on him. Just in case.
Shaoyuan waited for Celestinus to haul out a ridiculously large—he assumed—first aid kit, then led him to where he'd left the captive.
It was not Shaoyuan's first time performing impromptu surgery out in the field, but having it not be on himself was a bit of a novelty. And for all his grumbling, Celestinus worked quickly—he only barely caught the man from crushing the tracker in time.
"Wait," he said, the start of another plan taking shape in his mind. And the end of the plan, for that matter. It wasn't exactly a complicated plan. There was only one step: murder.
"What?" Celestinus asked. "It's a tracker."
"And it's still broadcasting," he pointed out.
"Exactly. It needs to go, before their people find us."
"Or we let them, and I kill them."
"Is your solution to everything murder?"
The plans he had been drawing up in his head for said murder burst like a soap bubble. He blinked at Celestinus, and felt as though he was missing a bit of context to explain why the man was suddenly looking at him with such disapproval.
"I haven't killed anyone while on Aristides' payroll yet," he said slowly.
"Yeah, yet," Celestinus replied. "I have heard about your history, you know."
Ah. That.
He'd always wondered how much Celestinus knew about his history. On the rare occasions he encountered the man, he'd always gotten the vague impression that Celestinus felt somewhat negatively towards him, but he'd chalked it up to the normal distrust people held towards newcomers—especially newcomers who'd inexplicably skyrocketed through the ranks to become something like Aristides' left hand.
Now, at least, he knew where they stood.
He schooled his expression. "Right," he said. "You disapprove."
"Wh–you killed your entire family!" Celestinus sputtered. "Of course I–what kind of question is that?"
Shaoyuan let go as Celestinus yanked his ankle free. "A stupid one, I guess," he replied.
He plucked the tracker off the ground and stood, pulling his bloodied gloves off. Not that it made much of a difference; his hands would always be bloody, one way or another. Celestinus was right to mistrust the monster in their midst.
But monsters were good at doing what needed to be done.
"Take them back to base and treat them there," he said. "I'm going with the Shaoyuan Nie solution for any followers."
It was what he did best, after all.

reflections of Adolescence.
you miss the simplicities of childhood. the lack of awareness or understanding for the things that adults seemed to hyper fixate on (and stress over, even if they tried to hide it). the curiosity that filled you; the joy of asking (and telling). how time seemed to wait for you.
you miss car rides after the day (which seemed to last a year) had finally come to an end, as the rumbles of the back seat soothe and rock you into an unexpecting slumber.
fighting tirelessly (and sometimes viciously) against the dreaded "bedtime", and when you finally were wrestled into sheets and sedated, you dreamed of being awoken again and the ventures that would await when the sun rose; as if it was christmas everyday, and your gift was tomorrow. no matter how mundane or void times seemed, you strived to find meaning in the inactivity; always adding spirit to the spiritless.
it really is easy to romanticize. today you visit childhood landmarks; old neighborhoods, parks, grocery stores and wonder; where has the magic gone? what once seemed big and complex and all-knowing now seems stoic, predictable, unremarkable. nothing specific has changed about any of these special places; (which you still regard as special) but there is something fundamentally different that you can never seem to put your finger on.
the routines and presumptions of adulthood don't come naturally to you, and you fear they never will. interactions become progressively unenthusiastic and inauthentic as you try your hardest to pretend to care. work and school and travel and relationships and health and finances and drugs and events and consumerism and expression and politics and discrimination. you have newly found passions and ideologies that you share with others; many nod and smile, but some listen and understand (and you love them for it).
you participate in systems that don't support your best interest, and sometimes you hurt other people (but you always try to make things right again).
but in all this confusion and uncertainty, you can't seem to move past your earliest years. you wonder when this glow that permeated the world disappeared from your eyes.
you decide the glow left you they day you saw your mother cry for the first time. the day you realized that even God is just a child after all.

MANAGING YOUR FINANCES
A Comprehensive Guide to Saving Money and Sticking to a Budget
Saving money and adhering to a budget can be challenging for many individuals. It demands significant discipline and commitment. Often, the most daunting aspect of saving is simply getting started. This guide provides a step-by-step approach to develop a straightforward and realistic strategy for saving towards both short-term and long-term goals, whether it’s purchasing a house, buying a car, or fulfilling a lifelong dream of traveling the world. By prioritizing essential expenses and cutting out non-essentials, you can achieve your financial objectives. Here are some effective tips to help you manage your finances. .... Get an affordable auto insurance cover clik here https://tmtrcks.com/238479/186
Tip 1: Track Your Expenses
The initial step in saving money is to understand your spending habits. Keep a detailed record of all expenses, including small purchases like coffee and household items, in addition to regular monthly bills. You can use methods that suit you best, such as a notebook, a spreadsheet, or an online spending tracker. After compiling your data, categorize your expenses—such as gas, groceries, and housing—and calculate thee
Tip 2: Include Savings in Your Budget
With a clear understanding of your monthly expenses, you can create a budget that reflects your income and expenditures. This budget should enable you to plan your spending and minimize overspending. Remember to include irregular expenses, such as car maintenance. Allocate a specific amount for savings, starting with an amount that feels manageable. Gradually aim to increase your savings to 15-20% of your income.
Tip 3: Cut Back on Spending
If you find it challenging to save as much as you’d like, it may be time to reassess your expenses. Identify non-essential items, such as entertainment and dining out, where you can cut back. Additionally, explore options to reduce fixed monthly costs, like car insurance or cell phone plans. Implementing small changes in your daily spending can lead to significant savings over time.
Tip 4: Set Savings Goals
Establishing clear savings goals can be a powerful motivator. Consider what you wish to save for in both the short term (one to three years) and the long term (four years or more). Estimate the amount needed and the timeframe to reach those goals. This clarity will help you stay focused and disciplined in your savings efforts.
Tip 5: Determine Your Financial Priorities
Your financial goals will significantly influence how you allocate your savings. For instance, if you anticipate needing a new car soon, it’s prudent to start saving for it now. However, don’t lose sight of long-term goals like retirement. Prioritizing your savings objectives will help you distribute your resources effectively and ensure that all important financial needs are addressed.
Tip 6: Choose the Right Tools
Various savings and investment accounts can help you achieve both short-term and long-term goals. You don’t have to limit yourself to a single option. Carefully evaluate account features such as balance minimums, fees, interest rates, and risk levels. This will enable you to select a combination of tools that best suits your savings objectives.
Short-term Goals
For immediate access to funds, consider FDIC-insured deposit accounts like:
-Savings Accounts .Easy access to your money.
- Certificates of Deposit (CDs) Typically offer higher interest rates in exchange for locking your funds for a set period.
Long-term Goals
For future needs, such as retirement or education, consider:
IRAs or 529 Plans Tax-efficient savings accounts.
Securities Stocks or mutual funds accessible through brokerage accounts.
Tip 7: Automate Your Savings
Most banks provide automated transfer options between checking and savings accounts. You can decide when and how much to transfer, or even set up your direct deposit to allocate a portion of your paycheck directly into savings. This automation reduces the temptation to spend and simplifies the saving process. Additionally, consider using credit card rewards or spare change programs that round up purchases and deposit the difference into a savings account.

Exclusive Guide to Finding the Best House for Sale in Melbourne

So you have decided to buy your dream house in the most liveable city on earth—Melbourne?
Did you know that it is often referred to as the “world’s sporting capital”?
Besides having graffiti laneways, cultural diversities, a bayside location, and mouth-watering coffee, this is a good place to live for many reasons.
It has multiple public transportation options, plenty of job opportunities, low crime rates, an immense arts and culture scene, and, in short, an easy lifestyle. Buying your dream house is a big decision, and it must be backed with solid research to get the best deal.
To help you out, we have come up with an extensive guide to finding the best house for sale in Melbourne. Now buckle up and start reading this article to get a vivid image of the buying process.
Tips to Find the Best House for Sale in Melbourne
There are numerous things to consider while checking homes for sale. To ensure you make the buying process a streamlined one, check out the following things.
Fix your budget
You visit a house for sale in Melbourne. It’s alluring, stands tall, and even beats all your expectations. You excitedly enquire about the price and get disappointed to learn it is way beyond your budget.
This hurts badly. To avoid such unpleasant things, first, fix your budget. Once you have a budget fixed, you can filter the market and visit the houses with the confidence that you can buy one if it meets your necessities.
This is why, when it comes to buying a house for sale, having enough funds is critical. From the down payment to closing costs, you must adhere to strict financial commitments. But it’s not always about the money; it’s about the security and freedom that come with owning your dream house, where you can dwell with your loved ones. First, decide on the budget and finances, and set realistic goals.
What are the must-haves in your dream house?
Now take a pen and paper, sit down with your family, and list the must-haves of the house in Melbourne. This might be a big list, but you need patience to curate it. Because acknowledging your needs helps narrow down your search and find the ideal place to live.
Buying your house starts with one simple decision: finding the ideal location to call home. You have already decided that it’s Melbourne.
But did you know that Melbourne is a diverse city with many suburbs to choose from?
The next thing you must fixate on is the size of the house, including the number of bedrooms and bathrooms, the style, outdoor space, safety, storage, energy efficiency, and parking.
On top of that, while checking out the Melbourne house for sale, don’t forget to consider the proximity to work, schools, and other amenities.
When tailoring your list, ensure it meets your needs and preferences because you are investing big, and it must be worthy and close to your heart.
Thoroughly investigate home loans
Skipping mortgage pre-approval is one of the biggest mistakes you can make.
If you have decided to get a loan, first learn how much your bank will offer. Remember, what the bank says you can afford is different from what you know you can afford.
On the other hand, what you think you can afford to buy a house in Melbourne is different from what the bank is willing to lend you. Your chances of getting a loan can be affected if you have poor credit or an unstable income.
So, ensure that you are pre-approved for a loan before placing an offer on a home or even before you start house-hunting.
Note: Even if you are pre-approved for a mortgage, your loan can be denied at the last minute if you alter your credit score by financing a car purchase, etc. So be extra careful of the things you plan to buy or lend using your card.
Inspect a property before purchasing it.
Usually, the houses for sale in Melbourne will be presented for inspection by potential buyers at different time slots. Some houses are available for private inspection and can be visited with the real estate agent’s help.
You get 30 to 45 minutes for open home inspections. To make the most of the inspection during this time, make a checklist of what to check.
Use the checklist while inspecting properties.
Take pictures and notes of the property, including the exterior features and if any damage or issues are present. You can make a note of your likes and dislikes for that property.
Ask questions to the concerned person, i.e., the real estate agent there.
If it is a new house, you can ask about
The warranty or guarantee and what it covers
Are upgrades or customizations available?
What are the energy-efficiency features the house has?
If it is an old house, you can enquire.
When was the house last renovated?
Why is the vendor selling it?
What’s included in the property?
How long have they lived there?
What were the past maintenance or repairs done?
Are there any known issues with the house?
By asking questions relevant to your situation, you can better understand the advantages and potential challenges of buying a new house versus an old house and make an informed decision.
This process can seem daunting, and you may lack the experience to deal with it. Get professional help from real estate agents to handle it. Professionals can spot hidden problems and ensure that it’s worth investing in the house.
Don’t ignore the neighborhood.
While checking out the houses for sale in Melbourne, you will naturally be more focused on the house and may overlook the neighborhood.
We understand that it’s not possible to predict the future of your selected neighborhood. But asking about its past can help you avoid unpleasant surprises down the road.
If there is any undeveloped land around, enquire about what is likely to get built there.
Is the home value in the neighborhood rising or declining?
What are the zoning laws in the area?
Check the crime rate and safety. Visit the local houses and neighbors to clear up these doubts.
If you are happy with the answers to these questions, you can show a green signal.
Check the property titles.
Check if the property titles are correct because they are the birth certificate of your property. Homebuyers hire a title company to perform title searches on their behalf.
Here, a real estate attorney can also help find out if any legal issues are present and if the property has been legally transferred to you. In addition, ensure the property boundaries are clearly defined and that there are no boundary disputes.
Check with the local council.
Before you seal the deal, check with the local council to enjoy a worry-free home-buying experience.
The local council is in charge of managing, planning, and developing the area, so they know the ins and outs of it.
So, we can safely call the local council the guardian angel because they can give you insider information that your seller or real estate agent might hide from you.
With their expert knowledge, you can know if the house for sale in Melbourne abides by zoning laws and building codes and is in full compliance with regulations.
Or any future development in the area could affect your property value or quality of life.
Money may not be able to buy happiness, but it sure can buy you a roof over your head!
Make an offer and close the deal.
Making an offer to the households is of huge importance. Before you make an offer, determine your budget and strictly stick to it. Also, consider the additional expenses, including the inspection fees and closing costs.
Next, research recent sales of similar houses in the same neighborhood to determine if the asking price is fair. Your real estate agent can aid you in negotiating and sealing the best deal.
Before sending the proposal, consider contingencies. The contingencies in your offer can save you from unfortunate circumstances such as the inability to secure financing, etc. But ensure you don’t mention too much of it, as it can create a bad impression.
Lastly, write a personal letter. Well, this unique idea can make you stand out from other buyers and create an impression. Be genuine and authentic, and explain why you want to buy the property.
Remember, making an offer is just the beginning of the negotiation process. The stronger the offer, the more chances you have of securing your dream home.
Final Words
And to conclude, an important point to remember is: Don’t overthink signing the deal. We understand that buying your dream house is huge. But again, you must have done ample research before throwing an anchor on one.
There are cases where buyers lose the best deal because someone else takes the swift decision and buys it. And importantly, negotiation is important, but overdoing it can ruin the deal. When the house for sale in Melbourne ticks most of the boxes on your checklist, go for it.
Buying your house can be thrilling, but it can also be overwhelming if you put everything in your head. So, hire a real estate agent to hold your hand in the right direction.
