Door Bell
I stand outside her doorstep a single rose within my hand and I'm terrified to put my finger on the bell or to put my fist upon her door The sun is still up, and all black makes for a sweat But I'm sweating bullets for different reasons this timeline
Somewhere a dog barks in the distance signaling the arrival or departure or a car out into the capillary highways The blood cells here are cap cars and ambulances and taxis claim the role of plasma and white blood cells Knights to battle infectious smiles
The sidewalk refuses to be empty as people walk up and down some with leashes in their hands and others with hands in hands My stomach is alive and so angry my heart is pumping so fast as I stare at the wood of her door
And as I press my finger to her bell I feel my heart jump into my throat and I want to vomit in the bushes next to her door

Daily Comic Journal: June 28, 2022: "Dear Diary: I Turned In My Diaries Today."
I did my best to fill in my daily expenses as well as I could. As a single, never married 61 year old man who goes to the movies a lot, I don’t have a lot of expenses, so I’m not sure how my numbers will do for the census, when compared to others in my age bracket. I was just glad that I was able to help out.
