i'm not in a really good mood today

this morning at around a quarter to seven, the bus i normally take from my place to some superstop never showed up and so i had to wait another hour for it to show up, calling in late for work

and then when my first finally reached the superstop so i can catch another bus to go to work, that bus drove off and i waited another 30 minutes for THAT bus to show up, which eventually i arrived to work an hour late

i was so angry

and then i like someone at work (someone i wanted to actually get to know and hang out afterwards) and i gave him my number and he said that he doesn't like talking to people on the phone, but he will consider it, and being that it was so busy today it was hard for me to approach him sometimes, but something to me felt off and i don't like things that are off

like the tone and the vibes of the whole thing wasn't too pleasant and i guess i caught him in one of his moods (which i actually hate in a man, but every now and then i'll tolerate) and it had gotten so bad that he left early before i came back from break, so there was a bad feeling in my brain and i won't see him again until thursday, so i guess we'll see

but in my personal life, it's really hard to find love and even harder to find just a friend to chat with without some ulterior motives, like why can't things just happen naturally? it's happened to me before

but the last few times i tried looking for love, it didn't go my way and i wasn't finding what i was looking for, and so i stopped completely and focused on my job and my living situation

it's been three years without a boyfriend and almost two without seeing someone and i would like something to happen especially when i have a birthday coming up in a couple of months

but if i'm getting icky vibes from the next few people i'm just gonna continue to focus on my job so i can finally move to NYC

Trying to refine a simpler 'cuter' style for quick ideas like this.

One really nice thing about HB characters is the animators go out of their way to give them particular styles of character acting, specific ways of holding and moving themselves that are characteristic to them (Stolas having lots of hand movement, Octavia being very tight and contained, Millie swinging around things, etc.) so I wanted to do something lighthearted with the Stolitz fam exploring how enjoying music would translate to their physicality! Blitz likes to thrash about, of course, and Octavia is similar but more subdued; Stolas being refined but can't resist expressing himself with some dramatic gestures, and Loona stays relaxed but can't hold back more instinctual movements in her tail.

I love how downright creepy Sauron is.

He's your neighbourhood psychopathic genius, a skilled sorcerer whose allegiance was realigned once (to his true alignment imo) and then never since waivered.

Unlike Morgoth, who was more straightforward in his execution, Sauron's style is insidious, and in a sense more horrific for how slow and personal his tactics can be. His temper is such that he can play the long game, even play at being weak in order to earn trust or make his enemies complacent, and then next thing you know he has an old friend's corpse up as a war banner, or he has sunk a once great island down the Sea.

He bred the Orcs. Tolkien played with different version of the origin of Orcs, but what I like best is the version where they were corrupted Men, maybe even Elves, and although they were Melkor's idea, it was Sauron who had the ability, patience and tenacity to make the idea come to fruition.

He built cults. Do you know what cults are like? How they draw people in, what they make people believe, what they get people to do? From an outsider looking in it must have looked truly bizarre, but Sauron was able to turn a powerful nation against the Valar and painted Morgoth as the true god. Eru Ilúvatar was denied as a false god, and the Valar made to be liars. There were blood sacrifices, human sacrifices—all for a religion Sauron invented, but was so successful that, once Númenor was gone, Sauron brought the cult with him to Middle-earth.

He was called The Necromancer. What made him garner the title? Who gave it to him, and what had they seen? Surely the Nazgûl were not the first of their kind, not when the Nine were already so well-made. What manner of experimentation had Sauron done in order to make them, and what did the "failures" look like? What knowledge did he use to corrupt and circumvent the Gift of Ilúvatar, which gave Men free will and death, allowing their spirits to transcend Arda? And yet the Nazgûl were unable to die, and as wraiths they also lost their free will, bound to Sauron and the call of the Ring.

He corrupted kings. He corrupted his own kind. Curumo could not have been the only one, and we know Curumo was a powerful Maia in his own right, the leader of the Istari. Sauron played mind games with the best of people, and won. His ability to seduce even the most powerful beings and get them in his service was unparalleled.

Now imagine being a native of Mordor and witnessing the poisoning of the lands. And then an age later, imagine being from one of the villages around Rhovanion and experiencing the slow haunting of Amon Lanc. At least the Eldar could see Sauron and his agents; none of the Men can do so. What defense did the common Man have against such insidious evil? There must only have been odd sensations, a dread settling in, dreams that lure them in before turning into nightmares.

I'm gonna assume he's talking about the exchange of the grimoire for sex with Blitzo. The deal that HE made in the first place????

Okay, first off- What do you mean, it's not right anymore?? NOT ONCE has it EVER been right! Making someone satisfy your pleasures in exchange for giving them something that's impossible to have and you never intended on giving them in the first place unless it benefits you somehow. That is called EXPLOITATION! Children . . . exploiting someone is NEVER a good thing! No matter how badly you want something to happen, it's never good to make someone do something against their will, and Stolas NEVER considered this! And even if he did, I doubt he would've cared!

Why is he suddenly caring now?

Because this is just another way for Viv to throw another Stolas pity party and she needs some kind of tension between Stolas and Blitzo so that their relationship can feel earned later. I think I have a pretty good feeling on what they're gonna make season two about.

This is gonna turn back into the "Stolitzo show" where we focus on the supposed "romance" between Stolas and Blitzo. How are they gonna go about it? Well, I think what's gonna go down is, instead of Stolas being in the wrong for how he treats Blitzo, they're gonna make the latter the bad guy for how he "treats" Stolas. Because blah blah blah, Blitzo doesn't love Stolas back, blah blah he's not considerate of Stolas's feelings for him, blah blah he's being mean, blah blah, he needs to give Stolas a chance. And at the end of the day, Blitzo is gonna feel all sorry and realize he loves Stolas, he apologizes to Stolas, the two are endgame and they live happily ever after! I'm calling it right now! With the way Stolas said what he said above, he's gonna make it seem like he's trying to reason with Blitzo saying the deal for the book is a bad idea as if HE wasn't the one that called Blitzo that one night and made that deal.

Do Viv or the writers ever THINK before writing these down??

Edit (4/29/24) It makes no sense for Stolas to suddenly feel regret for this exchange as well as his feelings for Blitzo because of it. In season 1 he went from "Oh Blitzy! You're so hot! Let's have sex!" to "I'm actually genuinely in love with you Blitzo. Let's not do this anymore. I want to take this seriously." Out of nowhere.

Like-- In episode 6, he was lustful for Blitzo and made out with him by the end of the ep, and then suddenly the next episode, he's feeling all lonely and is innocently having feelings for Blitzo. WHERE DID ALL THAT COME FROM?? There was no ounce of development within those episodes!

casually adopts iron lord felwinter as my own oc

he drives me INSANE i fucking love him sm. here are some design notes. felwinter is often described as not being as expressive as other exos. something about not having the same "modifications" (i don't have the exact lore excerpt but it goes something like that) so it seems like he doesn't have the same plates that most exos do to emote. so a static faceplate seemed like a solid bet. i use a lot of similar shapes in his face that I do for rasputin's exo frame, especially around the jaw area, and the same shade of red in the eyes and mouth. he is, however, described as having a "black skull", so his frame is black instead of white. i think it's an interesting contrast; if one were to look at both side by side, they are obviously associated with one another, but also opposites. the static faceplate and dark color palette also adds to felwinter's cynical and impassive demeanor. (iirc, he is directly described as cynical) a dark appearance suits such a personality in my opinion. i mean, he took over a whole mountain, he's described as being less inclined to show mercy. surely he's a bit more intimidating than the average fellow.

anyway, i hope y'all enjoy. i've been oc-ifying him for a while now but was kind of nervous to share it considering how relatively new i am to this fandom, and how little i know about the game and much of its lore. still finicking with him, of course, but i've been enjoying the journey.

Quick reminder: you followed me, so presumably when you read the words "I got something to say about Renji's eyebrows," your heart fills with a delightful fizz of anticipation and joy. If not, maybe just keep scrolling.

Some background!! Many people are under the impression that Renji's eyebrows are fully tattooed on, probably due in part to the OG anime choosing to always draw them fully black. This is not, in fact, the case. Renji's eyebrows are red, and they have a small black sharp bit tattooed onto the end. This was supposed to be fixed in the TYBW anime, although the entire thing is so badly lit, it's pretty hard to see. The way Kubo indicates this is that he draws Renji's eyebrows with hashes and the tattoos as solid black, at least in close-up. It is understandable that in wider shots they are just draw in black--for that matter, Ichigo's often are as well, even though we know his eyebrows are orange. Anyway, this has been true from Renji's first appearance to his last, and a million times in between.

Note: I'm using B&W shots because coloring them in dark red makes the hashing even harder to see and I'm trying to establish Kubo's intent.

He got the brow-tip tatts sometime during his Academy days, because he's got them at the point where Rukia gets adopted.

Prior to that, though, I noticed something interesting--in his earlier Academy days, Kubo often draws a couple of stray marks at the edges of his eyebrows.

I would interpret this as stray hair--his brows are just getting a little shaggy at the edges. He doesn't have these stray bits back in Inuzuri.

I'm guessing this is probably puberty weird-hair-growth related. You may also notice that in these "early days" pictures, he doesn't have the pointy tips of his sideburns, although they have grown in by the Adoption, which suggests that this was the time period when Renji mastered the art of Growing Facial Hair (I can only imagine this drove Kira absolutely insane).

There is a second, less likely possibility. It's interesting to me that Kubo never once draws Renji's eyebrows with the hashing during the Bad Field Trip. I have theorized before that Renji experimented with drawing on his face before he got the tattoos, based 100% of on the fact that he had the tip-tatts in the anime-only "I like the way you raise your hand" scene, even it feels like it takes place long before the Field Trip of Doom.

Oh, wow, while I was in my "Episode 32 Screenshots" folder, I noticed that they actually did draw him with his messy brows in the Leaving Inuzuri scene. Also, for the record, the anime also consistently drew him with red brows as a child.

What was my point? Oh, yeah, it was that it's also possible that he was practicing coloring in his eyebrows or possibly drawing on extra bits. That seems very unlikely, and even more so given the anime screenshot above.

My real point though, is that the tip-tatts are not just stylish or a tribute to Zabimaru (which I think is the primary purpose of all his tatts), but and excuse for my guy to get his unruly brows microbladed.
