Actually, regarding the hotel members seemingly not caring about Alastor after the battle, Viv said herself that nobody thought he was dead they all assumed he disappeared somewhere and would come back when he felt like it so that's why none of them were really concerned about him. They just thought he was alive and had decided to just fucked off somewhere else for however long he wanted

Oh! Wait, yeah, I think I did hear that. It's good to know that they didn't think he died and just went along their merry way.

But they also didn't think to check on him. They didn't think to figure out why he left. Or, at least, we don't know if they did. The rebuilding of the hotel and Alastor's breakdown all happened within a single song, which doesn't give a lot of room to show if they reached out.

If they did, I can see Alastor minimizing what happened and giving them the impression that his injury wasn't serious.

BUT, if they only thought he was alive and they thought he decided to fuck off somewhere for an indeterminate amount of time, that still feels like a really shitty thing to do. They could've at least confirmed he was alright--of course, that's also in the case that they knew how to contact to him. But it didn't look like they even tried.

It just makes me really sad that Alastor was brushed aside and forgotten so easily after that fight. He was out there injured and having a mental breakdown while they were all singing showtunes together.

IDK Charlie singing "As long as I have all of you with me," while hugging everyone except Alastor (and Sir Pentious, rest in peace) makes my heart hurt. Alastor, who'd been at the hotel for the last six months like everyone else, who patched walls and fixed clogs, who did the things Charlie and Vaggie asked him to do, who had helped Charlie enlist the cannibals so they actually stood a fighting chance, who had conjured a shield during the fight to make fighting the angels more manageable (and had been killing angels outside the shield with his tendrils), who had ALSO been the one to take on the leader of the Exorcist army.

And I can't help but feel like they'd done him so dirty.

(granted he then went on to sing about how he'd be 'pulling all the strings' as soon as he got out his deal).

For an instant, in Hell, in the absolute cacophony, there is nothing but silence.

"What?"

Alastor takes a deep breath. This is the last bet he can make to guarantee no longer status and power, but only his safety and survival, so... it's all or nothing.

"Make me your king or drive that spear through my heart and kill me for good. I will accept no other resolution."

A bloodstained black hand —the same one that he broke during the fight, the pinkie still not fully regenerated and dangling, courtesy of the pulverized bones— reaches out in his direction and Alastor raises his eyebrows in silent question. Lucifer doesn't answer. Not with words. So Alastor, without making the slightest pretense of getting up from the ground (he can't, anyway) raises his arm grumpily and rests his own palm, his knuckles stained with golden blood, on Lucifer's hand.

He is a knight in shiny armor, though he neither wears armor nor glitters. Lucifer withdraws the spear when at last he bends to kiss his knuckles before each and every gaze present. And, with the touch of his lips, under Alastor's gasping breath, a ring twin to the one Lucifer wears, golden too, but irregularly shaped, with black veins crossing it, unique, alive, materializes around one of his fingers.

now like yeah i did anticipate the hells and the fire plane would be the same trip, but my thinking was more along the lines of saving time and similar looking locations, not how personal they'd manage to make it

bc like, the original hells trip is only pike focused in that she's one of the people the rakshasa is chasing, it's a lot more of a percy one in terms of he's the one dealing with ipkesh

and the same with the fire plane, they're there for the plate for pike, but other than that it doesn't have a huge focus on her character

but with tlovm they both have the foreknowledge to be able to tie each character to the vestige they end up wielding, and also the time constraints kinda demand it

so they throw zerxus in

in the original campaign, they knew pike would wield the plate of the dawnmartyr before they grabbed it. because she was the only one who wore heavy armor. it didn't really go much deeper than that

here vox machina haven't discussed yet who's going to get the armor, but really, could it be anyone else?

not only have you made this such a pike focused journey by complicating her relationship with the everlight, now she's up against someone like her. a former redemption oath paladin

zerxus a fun tie-in for calamity fans, sure, but he's also the perfect mirror. all the good qualities they shared have been twisted now

and i'm only up to the end of the first card game but i think however this ends is gonna be really interesting for both their characters

so i started this show and it just gets worse and worseeeee not only did it lift the romance subplot directly from twilight (and not well) but they also are trying to play the forbidden love angle hard in the fantasy racism vein except it's a "cross-species" relationship between the two whitest people i've ever seen in my life and there are three people of color in the whole (first season of the) show who aren't villains and it seems that every other episode (and sometimes ebery episode and sometimes twice an episode!) there is a man physically or magically subjugating a woman and i keep waiting for the big reveal at the end to be stolen from fucking rainbow rowell

"'The weirdest proposal in Hell's history' " reads Angel, as he scrolls down the headlines, " 'The King of Hell and The Radio Demon, the couple that wasn't in your bingo this year but won't leave you indifferent.' 'Spreading your legs for the Devil and Other Tricks to Climb Hell's Social Hierarchy.' 'The Radio Demon is a whore and so far no one has noticed.' 'About the King's divorce and other lies from the palace, how much does the Queen know about her new rival?' Do I keep reading?"

"Fuck." Angel Dust is the first to break the silence, stretching out his vowels until he runs out of air in his lungs. "You two are really out of your mind, sweethearts. Besides, what the Hell? You guys are toxic as shit!" The words come down like a bucket of cold water, precisely cause they are true. They both flinch as if they've been hit, Lucifer grits his teeth and Alastor's eyelid twitches again. He struggles to keep his ears up and, although they succeed, a slight tremor escapes from the tips. They know, they both know. That's not so much the problem as suddenly being exposed. Lucifer opens his mouth to explain that they're working on it, but, of course, Alastor wouldn't be Alastor if he didn't take advantage of every loophole to strike back. In part, he's fascinated by it. "Considering your latest ex is none other than Valentino himself," the Radio Demon hisses, viciously, but Angel just crosses his bottom pair of arms and leans his hip against the bar. Husk shakes his head to himself, but doesn't dare talk, "I don't think you're one to reprimand us, Angel, dear." "That's exactly why, dammit! I've been there. I know what it's like," he tells them, and no matter how much they surpass him in power and strength, Angel doesn't back down. "Why the fuck are you doing this to yourselves? You hate each other, it doesn't make any sense!" Silence. Thundering. "Wait... you hate each other, don't you?"

More silence. The porn star's does the math slightly faster than the rest of the crew, although expressions of surprise and disbelief soon become the tone of the room. Alastor purses his lips tight and Lucifer feels the lump in his throat that has suddenly come threatening to take his breath away. He should answer. Alastor should answer truthfully and say yes, of course he hates him, detests him. So why does he keep so quiet? Because, after all, this is the same demon who has dawned cuddled up to him, snuggled against his chest, dressed in his bathrobe. "Holy fuck. I'll be damned... Did you guys fall in...?" "Don't you dare jump to ridiculous, hasty conclusions, Angel, or it'll be the last thing you say before I rip out your tongue and steam it with oyster sauce. I make a sensational stew, don't you want to become the secret ingredient."
