His nightmares (the ones from before, tortuous but predictable) have always been dark. Lost in the middle of a forest, he has fled along impossible and gloomy paths trying to avoir the inevitable bullet that always, always takes him by surprise. In these times, however, his nightmares (predictions of a fateful future?) are full of light. Of light and angels, and the darkness is a comfort. When he opens his eyes, there is hardly any darkness to hide in, but the light is dim, not abrasive, and the hand in his hair, warm and familiar. A name escapes his lips without him being barely conscious of it: "Luce?" "I'm afraid not, my dear friend," Rosie murmurs. When he looks up, Alastor finds her face, both sympathetic and concerned, gazing down at him with a feint of a smile intended to reassure him. "I'm flattered, though" "I don't know if you should..." Alastor manages to mumble before, guided only by instinct and the need for comfort, to feel safe, to push away the pain, he lays his head in the lap of his best friend, who settles down with him in her arms. "He's a disaster of a king. And of a person too." "Yet you seem to feel a deep affection for him. Don't worry, I'm not jealous."

fic is a safe space, probably one of the last safe spaces. by safe i mean safe from the pressure of caving to advertisers. you can write fic about anything and not worry (shouldn’t worry) about what’s popular or what an advertiser oriented algorithm will pick up. what i mean by this is that you don’t have to bring this advertiser friendly behavior into fic. heroes can make bad decisions, people can fall out of love, villains can win, villainous organizations can win, redemption doesn’t have to happen, etc. make things a little messy if you want to, because life can be messy and art is a reflection of life. not what the advertisers have decided for us life is like, real life. this is one of the last places where this is still possible
