Me: Why does no one crate train their dog anymore?
Me, scrolling the comments on a cute video of a puppy sleeping in a comfortable crate: I’m starting to understand why all the dogs at work act like they’ve never been crated in their life.

Sometimes the casual sexism in the dog hobby drives me insane. Your bitch is not less affectionate than your dog because she's a bitch. She might be less affectionate because of her bloodline or breed, or your expectations placed on her, or very likely because she was your second dog and had to split attention with your male dog from the time she came home.
Your male dog is not inherently more loyal, or less intelligent, or more aggressive just because he's a male. Sexual dimorphism does exist, but it affects things like how much your dog wants to mark during a walk, not their entire social structure and way of learning and interacting with you.

Idk some malinois owners are so obsessed with their dogs it almost seems like a cult. They go on about the hours they put in and the drive their dogs have and it feels like they’re seeking purpose for themselves rather than what’s actually beneficial for their dogs? If Mals are so high maintenance how could ordinary people own them?
If a malinois is owned by a regular person the cult-like folk will go on and on about how those people must not have intense dogs or that their (the cult-like people's) dogs are soooo much more crazy and work worthy than the people with them as active companions lol.
Really the way they talk about these dogs is no different than the people that worship corporate work grind. Like the type of language is the same and everything.

god i fucking hate my dad
#he came home today from a bike trip he went on and he's been arguing with me about honeybee the whole fucking day#he keeps saying just let her out let her run around! every time i put her in her pen to nap#and he refuses to stop her from biting him#and he got mad at her for playing with his socks when she'd just been playing with mine and he threw them on the floor of the living room#which first of all stop being such a fucking slob#and second of all what the fuck did you expect to happen? it's a soft new toy on the floor where she spends most of her time. where all her#toys are. very similar to the two soft items she's allowed to play with (my socks)#she's fucking 3 months old she doesn't understand the difference between my socks and his socks#and i keep telling him i know what im doing i was doing all the research while he went to buttfuck nowhere on his midlife crisis motorcycle#but he just wont fucking listen to me#and hes like oh youre at that age where you think youre right about everything and are so stubborn like fuck you actually#first of all im stubborn about this because its a living breathing puppy and his actions will affect her behaviour as an adult#and bc i know what im fucking doing. ive been an animal person my entire life. i did all the research. i did this exact same thing with#parrots for five years.#and hes like you cant just put her in her pen every time shes being a dog like no i fucking dont. i only put her in her pen when it's time#for a nap and she's getting overtired. you can't just let her run around until she collapses bc for one she never fucking will#second that's only going to make her energy threshold higher and then she'll be absolutely impossible to handle#and i told him that and that i read that on like every professional dog training source i read#and he said that might be true or might not be#like it fucking is bitch omfg#and then he tried to one up me like um i actually raised you guys for a long time i know what im doing#like a child is not a fucking dog. also my mom raised us lets be fucking serious. and look how well adjusted i turned out#and he told me to relax and calm down like i wasnt even arguing with him but i sure as hell will now#like dont tell me to fucking relax. when has telling anyone to relax ever made anything better. especially a teenager. especially a (for#simplicity's sake) woman.#and i told him dont tell me to relax and he got all pissy and stormed off#like literally fuck you#im my fathers daughter. im just as stubborn as he is.#rambles

Went on a trail ride with another girl I haven’t ridden with in a while l and said “hey let’s try this trail!” and then I nearly got us stuck in a fucking swamp
I literally said “haha, come on Bertie (my horse) it’s not like it’s quicksand” and then boom! it kind of WAS though and my pony is fat but she is small, so she got stuck up to her knees a few times but oh my god, poor Buster is a normal sized thick ol halter hog quarter horse boy and he almost went down. he sunk in on the left side up to his stifle. that’s like his hip man that’s like. Almost the butt. that was high-as-a-horse’s-hips mud. That was horse-thigh-gap-height mud. Oh my god.
This obviously scared the horse so then he scrambled out as best he could and he took his mom into a bank full of many sharp little trees and she almost came off and then had to get down and back him back into the mud to get him out and around the trees again
Was my horse as affected? No. Was I hit so hard in the face by tree branches that I bit my lip? No, but her horse reenacted the neverending fucking story for a minute there and she got pistol whipped by branches and I felt so bad 😭 in fairness, she never objected to exploring. not in fairness, it was absolutely my dumbass idea
This is why no one wants to ride with us, even when I try to have a chill walk-only lazy little trail ride I still manage to get us into some kind of chaos, because my riding style can only be described as Quaintly Unhinged™️
As pet tax, here’s my pony and her stupid stray dog she adopted, brave survivors of the sticky icky swamp

9, 13, 24?
9. tell a story about your childhood.
Apparently when I was little my mom told me to put my thongs on if I wanted to go outside. I had never heard of anyone calling flip flops. And as a 28 year old I can tell you around where I live it's not common at all to call them that. I asked her why I needed underwear to go outside. Got in trouble for "being rude" 🙃
13. what are you doing right now?
Im in bed way past my bedtime because we scooped up what looks like a German shepherd looking puppy? Maybe not quite but similar breed. We stood outside in front our house with it in a leash for about half an hour with no replies or answers to the dog tag phone number, nor any reports from the spca. Our dog passed away awhile ago so we have her in the backyard and posted her photo on the local Facebook. Quite cute. I'll post photos of her in the morning maybe.
24. what's one thing you're proud of yourself for?
Uh. Unm. Starting therapy maybe? Oh! Actually thoroughly researching personal finance and having a pretty good automatic set up with my accounts. And just recently? How much ive traveled by myself this year. I'm getting so many experiences under my belt. My arm and ass still hurt from the batting cages I went to on my trip 4 days ago. I went and did it by myself even after everyone said it wasn't something they wanted to do. Also. Just recently I think I've gotten braver on tinder. Not afraid of messaging first....as much. Baby steps 💛

How do I professionally say:
"If you keep fucking with your dog's resources while they are actively guarding, despite my telling you that that will only escalate the problem and severely stress out your dog which will inevitably cause them to bite someone very severely, then you do not deserve to have a dog in your home and you need to find this dog alternative housing?"
Because I cannot figure this out.

This is a big talking point on tiktok right now but I know a lot of you don’t use it so I’ll give you a quick rundown:
A girl took her dog in the grocery store and let it piss all over the frozen fish sticks and thought it was the funniest thing in the world
Which is in turn brought up the (incredibly true) conversation point that American society especially is incredibly lenient to dog owners and it’s annoying as shit.
Like, already with that girl people DO bring non-service dogs into places that are very notably NOT dog friendly. But my two cents here is I WORK somewhere that IS (chain hardware store) and even then some people literally do not give a shit if they have the most untrained dog in the world.
People let their dogs piss and shit on the floor and not clean it. They let their dogs jump on strangers. They let them ROAM OFF LEASH INSIDE. BRO WE USE POWER EQUIPMENT IN HERE.
A lady the other day brought in her dog who was physically shaking with fear, her tail tucked between her legs, and licking her lips nonstop and it’s like. Really? You really needed to torture your dog because you needed a single paint brush THAT much????

parents: stop getting mad at your child's teacher for your child's behavior. They are there to teach your kids how to read and math and science. YOU are responsible for teaching your child manners and how to be a pleasant human being that other people want to be around.

Y'all I am so tired. So unbelievably tired of people abusing the civil rights of disabled people. Tired of having to assume that every single dog we unvested in public (and half the ones with cheaper vest options) are at best untrained and at worst fully aggressive. I'm exhausted from having businesses tell me they "can't do anything" about fake service dogs, dirty pets, aggressive dogs, and dogs in shopping carts.
It is so so so DRAINING to be trying to do the best I can with my SDiT and end up triggering my issues because I'm forced to be hypervigilant literally Every Single Time we go into non pet friendly spaces.
And I know. I. KNOW. That fully trained service dogs are extremely good at ignoring distractions (including other dogs). Hell my girl is 18mo and she's doing great in that regard.
But pets being where pets don't belong is dangerous. It's abusive to dogs who aren't prepared to be in stressful environments. It's a potentially lethal distraction for disabled people who rely on service dogs. An attack can be career ending for SDiT.
So please. Please please please. If you take your pet into SD Only places: STOP
If you know someone who does this: educate them and irritate and pester them until they STOP
Leave. Your. Pets. At. Home
