Haven’t done this in a long ass time but 1776 lines I adore/quote a lot:
“Oh, excuse me but I must be returning to the Sovereign Colony of Virginia! For I have been asked to serve as Governor. And therefore I must decline, respectful-LEE!”
“JUDGE WILSON! 😡”
“MCNAIR FETCH ME A RUM!”
“CHRIST IT’S HOT! 😩”
“John why don’t you give it up? Nobody listen to you you’re obnoxious and disliked.”
“Sweet Jesus!”
“New York abstains, courteously.”
“Oh for Heaven’s sake let me get thorough it once! 😒”
“You would you lousy wart. 😤”
“Mr Jefferson, no where do you mention deep sea fishing rights!”
“Mr Read! You represent only 1/3 of Delaware!”
“The sensible third Mr Rodney!”
“SIT DOWN YOU SCURVY DOG OR I’LL KNOCK YOU DOWN!”
“I second the motion.”
“Oh my God. 😔”
“Pennsylvania for the 24th time says Nay. 😠”
“Judge Wilson, in your eagerness to be loved you have seemed to forgotten that Pennsylvania CANNOT SECOND ITS OWN MOTION! 😑”
“I stand with the general. Well lately, I’ve had the oddest feeling that he’s been writing to me. 😧”
“Your obedient, G. Washington.”
“Oh good god. 😟”
“I want to remember each man’s face as he signs.”
“Rhode Island passes.”
“After what Rhode Island’s consumed I can’t say I’m surprised, we’ll come back to him Mr Thomson.”
“For the love of God Mr Rutledge please!”
“Not ripe?! Hell we’re rotting for it.”
“It’s simple Mr Chase, increase and multiply.”
“When did you first notice they were missing sir? 😏”
“Are you calling me a madman you…. you FRIBBLE!”
“Because it’s a new idea, YOU CLOT! WE’LL BE SETTING OUR OWN PRECEDENT! 😖”
“There must be some mistake I have an Aunt who lives in New Brunswick.”
“You must tell her to keep up the good work! 🤩”
“”Well Mr Adams, you are chairman of the war committee, do you feel up to whoring, drinking, deserting, AND New Brunswick? 😉”

K-9 Veterans Day
Joseph White, a retired military working dog trainer, came up with the idea for K-9 Veterans Day. By his efforts, his home state of Florida recognized the day in 2009. Other states have since recognized it as well, although it has not been recognized on the national level. The day is dedicated not only to K-9 veterans of the military, but also to customs dogs, search and rescue dogs, police dogs, border patrol dogs, and secret service dogs. March 13 is the date of the holiday because the K-9 Corps was created on March 13, 1942. The Quartermaster Corps of the Army began training dogs on that date, making it the moment when dogs officially became part of the U.S. Armed Forces.
Three months before Pearl Harbor, U.S. Army Sgt. Robert H. Pearce started a small K-9 command program at Fort MacArthur in San Pedro, Los Angeles. He brought Hollywood dog trainer Carl Spitz on board. (Spitz was known for owning and training a Cairn Terrier named Terry, who was best known for playing the role of Toto in The Wizard of Oz.) In January of 1942, they began asking people in Los Angeles to bring their dogs to Pershing Square to be used in the war effort. Over 1,000 dogs were brought, including Rudy Vallee’s Doberman Pinscher, King, and Mary Pickford’s German Shepherd, Silver. The program was known as Dogs for Defense. These dogs would go on to be used by the K-9 Corps.
Originally, thirty breeds of dogs were accepted by the K-9 Corps, but this was narrowed down to seven: German Shepherds, Siberian Huskies, collies, Belgian Sheepdogs, Doberman Pinschers, Eskimo dogs, and Malamutes. New dogs were first given obedience training. They were then given additional training to be a scout or patrol, messenger, sentry, or mine detector. Within eight to twelve weeks they completed their training. The original idea was to have 200 dogs in the K-9 Corps, but by the end of World War II, the number had ballooned to more than 10,400. Most of the dogs were family pets.
Although dogs were first formally trained for military service during World War II, they have been used in war since antiquity. More recently, some were used informally during the Civil War. During World War I, the German, British, and Belgian armies used them to pull carriages and wagons loaded with guns and supplies, to pull telephone lines, to carry messages, and to comfort those who had been injured. About 7,000 dogs were used in World War I, but not only a few of these were from the United States.
As of the late 2010s, over 2,500 dogs actively serve in the military, and about 700 are deployed overseas. Military dogs sniff out bombs and weapons, search and patrol, perform guard duty, and serve as companions to those who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury. Military dogs are usually German Shepherds, Belgian Malinois, or Labrador Retrievers. Dogs in the military now can receive medals and awards, and they often have retirement and memorial services held for them. In law enforcement, dogs began being used more in the 1970s. These dogs patrol, perform search and rescue missions, and detect drugs, explosives, cadavers, and arson accelerants. Dogs in both military and law enforcement roles, as well as dogs in other similar official roles, are all honored today.
How to Observe
Here are some ideas on how to celebrate the day:
If you have, work with, or train a military dog, law enforcement dog, or dog in a similar role, make the day extra special for them.
Contact your representatives and encourage them to support a K-9 Veterans Day on the state or national level.
Support K-9 Courage, a group that provides healthcare assistance to retired police and military dogs, and gives support to service dogs who assist veterans with post-traumatic stress and traumatic brain injury. You could help raise funds or have your own dog participate in “Dogs Salute Dogs.”
Learn about notable dogs who have served in the military, such as Sgt. Stubby, Chips, Lex, and Cairo.
Visit a memorial dedicated to dogs, such as the War Dog Memorial at the March Field Air Museum in Riverside, California; the War Dog Memorial in Hartsdale Pet Cemetery in Hartsdale, New York; the National War Dog Cemetery and War Dog Memorial at Naval Base Guam; The Pennsylvania War Dog Memorial; or the Military Working Dog Teams National Monument in San Antonio, Texas.
Visit Sgt. Stubby, who is stuffed and on display, and covered with a blanket that holds his medals, in an exhibit titled “The Price of Freedom: Americans at War” at the National Museum of American History.
Watch a movie or documentary about military or police dogs such as Max, Sgt. Stubby: An American Hero, War Dog: A Soldier’s Best Friend, Megan Leavey, or War Dogs: America’s Forgotten Heroes.

It’s summer! And even though I work full time, I want to be sure to make some time to read books. I have made my own personal reading list, and I wanted to share it with you. There is a mix of novels in Japanese and English, and manga in Japanese. This is by no means comprehensive but I hope to finish at least these books. If you have any additional novel or manga recommendations please let me know!
Novels・小説(しょうせつ)
「1Q84」(いちきゅうはちよん)     Author: Haruki Murakami (村上春樹)     English Title: 1Q84          Summary: The year is 1984 and the city is Tokyo. A young woman named Aomame follows a taxi driver’s enigmatic suggestion and begins to notice puzzling discrepancies in the world around her. She has entered, she realizes, a parallel existence, which she calls 1Q84 —“Q is for ‘question mark.’ A world that bears a question.” Meanwhile, an aspiring writer named Tengo takes on a suspect ghostwriting project. He becomes so wrapped up with the work and its unusual author that, soon, his previously placid life begins to come unraveled.     My note: I’ve read this in English and I loved it, but now I will challenge myself by reading it in Japanese. It was originally published as 3 separate volumes in 6 books (each volume has a part 1 and part 2).
「犬と私の10の約束」(いぬとわたしのじゅうのやくそく)    Author: Hare Kawaguchi (川口晴)     English Title: 10 Promises to My Dog         Summary: This is the story of Akari Saito and her dog named Socks. The pair supported each other as they grew up together. This story is closely tied to "The Ten Commandments of Dog Ownership", a list of ownership rules written from a dog's point of view.     My note: This sounds like a tear jerker, but I honestly bought it because of the adorable Golden Retriever puppy on the cover. This is another novel for Japanese practice, but there’s a movie too.
The Catcher in the Rye    Author: J.D. Salinger     Japanese Title: 「ライ麦畑でつかまえて」(らいむぎばたけでつかまえて)         Summary:  The hero-narrator of The Catcher in the Rye is an ancient child of sixteen, a native New Yorker named Holden Caulfield. Through circumstances that tend to preclude adult, secondhand description, he leaves his prep school in Pennsylvania and goes underground in New York City for three days. The boy himself is at once too simple and too complex for us to make any final comment about him or his story. Perhaps the safest thing we can say about Holden is that he was born in the world not just strongly attracted to beauty but, almost, hopelessly impaled on it.     My note: I wanted to read this because it is famous for being banned in US schools, but other than that I had no idea what it was about. After some light research I found out that it was banned for being about Communism and that there is a theme of teenage rebellion. So this is part of my effort to read books that are famous in the US.
Good Omens     Japanese Title: 「グド・オーメンズ」         Summary: According to The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch (the world's only completely accurate book of prophecies, written in 1655, before she exploded), the world will end on a Saturday. Next Saturday, in fact. Just before dinner. So the armies of Good and Evil are amassing, Atlantis is rising, frogs are falling, tempers are flaring. Everything appears to be going according to Divine Plan. Except a somewhat fussy angel and a fast-living demon—both of whom have lived amongst Earth's mortals since The Beginning and have grown rather fond of the lifestyle—are not actually looking forward to the coming Rapture. And someone seems to have misplaced the Antichrist . . .     My Note: My friend recommended this book, and the summary got my attention. I also found out there’s a series on Amazon Prime.
Tumblr media
Manga・漫画(まんが)
「黒崎くんの言いなりになんてならない」(くろさきくんのいいなりになんてならない)     Author: Makino (マキノ)     English Title: Defying Kurosaki-kun (lit. I won’t become subservient to Kurosaki-kun)        Summary: Kurosaki is nicknamed "Kuro Akuma" (Black Devil) and is feared by his peers. He demands Yu's "absolute obedience." On the other hand, Takumi, Kurosaki's best friend, is adored by girls and is called "Shiro Oji" (White Prince). He is very warm and kind to Yu. The two boys treat Yu in opposite ways. This is the story of a love triangle but also of friendship.     My note: This is not a profound manga series by any means, but it’s funny and it drew me in when I picked it up in Japan last year. It’s classified as a romantic comedy shōjo manga series, but has some overt sexual overtones. I will be reading volume 12 only as I’ve already read the other 11.
「思い、思われ、ふり、ふられ」(おもい、おもわれ、ふり、ふられ)      Author: Io Sakisaka (咲坂伊緒)     English Title: Omoi, Omoware, Furi, Furare (lit. Loving, being loved, rejecting, being rejected)          Summary: Yuna Ichihara is in the spring before her first year of high school and is pained to be separated from her best friend Sacchan who is moving away. On her way to the train station, she is stopped by a random girl who asks her for money for her train fare. Although Yuna is somewhat afraid and reluctant, she gives the girl money, who in turns give Yuna her bracelet as a promise she will meet her tomorrow to pay her back. On the same day, Yuna runs twice into a boy who looks like the idolized prince of her childhood. After the girl, named Akari, returns Yuna's money, they head home together only to find out that they live in the same apartment building. The girls instantly become friends. However, they find that they explore love in completely different ways, and Yuna may be in love with Akari's brother and Akari in love with Yuna's childhood friend.     My note: This is a really cute shōjo manga series (I have a manga type) that is well written with some interesting twists and turns. The author has written many other famous shōjo manga series such as Ao Haru Ride/Blue Spring Ride and Strobe Edge. I will be reading volumes 9, 10, 11, and 12 as I was waiting for the final volume of the series to be published in June. There are plans for an anime movie and a live action movie in 2020.
「 月刊少女野崎くん 」(げっかんしょうじょのざきくん)     Author: Izumi Tsubaki (椿いづみ)     English Title: Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-kun         Summary: High school student Chiyo Sakura has a crush on schoolmate Umetarō Nozaki. When she confesses her love to him, he mistakes her for a fan and gives her an autograph. When she says she wants to be with him, he invites her to his house and has her help on some drawings. Sakura discovers that Nozaki is actually a renowned shōjo manga artist working under the pen name Sakiko Yumeno. She agrees to be his assistant in order to get closer to him. As they work on his manga Let's Fall in Love (恋しよっ Koi Shiyo, Let's Have a Romance), they encounter other schoolmates who assist them and/or serve as inspirations for his stories.      My note: I’ve watched the anime series in January, and my husband bought me the complete series (except the 10th volume) for Valentine’s Day. Life got in the way and I haven’t read it yet, but I am ready to binge read it now. This is an ongoing shōjo manga series but I feel like it doesn’t flow like a typical shōjo manga, exaggerating some typical character types and making fun of the genre while telling an engaging story.

Miniature Bull Terriers
Temperament:
- Upbeat, Mischievous, Comical, Fearless, “Terrier fire”
Size:
- Height: 10-14 in @ the shoulders
- Weight: 18-28 lbs
Life Expectancy:
- 11-14 yrs
- activity levels tend to slow down around 11-12 yrs
About:
- Almost exactly like the Bull Terrier
- Square, muscular, strong for their size
- Large, egg-shaped head and dark, triangular eyes
Nutrition:
- In order to not change a dog’s diet too fast, find out what your new puppies diet was at the breeder’s.
- For a day or two a puppy may not eat because of the new surrounding, any longer than that; contact a vet.
- Don’t leave food down for a puppy if it doesn’t clear it.
- If the puppy experiences any other symptoms, then contact a vet
- If not, the puppy is most likely ‘training the owner’, bull terriers tend to do this, don’t put the food back down and continue with feeding normally.
- Follow breeder/vet advice on portions; bull terriers are sensitive to becoming    overweight.
- Ask your breeder for a natural method feeding chart
- Bull terriers have very powerful jaws and can chew off and swallow pieces of bones which can cause blockages in the digestive system.
- Don’t give your mini bull terrier bones
- Raw hide chews should NEVER be given to bull terriers (including minis!)
- They can be swallowed and get stuck in the throat
Grooming
- Minis have fast growing nails, regular trimming is needed
- Minis are prone to “eye boogers”, just use a damp clothe to wipe them away and then a dry cloth to dry whenever you spot these
- At home weekly ear checks, look for wax (use a cotton ball to gently remove any wax), or infection (redness, swelling, bad odors). If any signs of infection, contact a vet
- Regular teeth brushing and vet cleanings
- Regular baths (every three months, unless your mini plays in dirt or mud (which is not unlikely!) then use a bristle brush to remove dirt then bathe immediately.)
- Use a hypoallergenic shampoo, minis have very sensitive skin.
- Outside shedding season a weekly once-over with a soft brush or a hound glove is all that’s needed for a well groomed bull terrier!
- During the twice a year shedding season (spring and fall) a daily once-over is recommended.
Basic Brushing
You’ll need: a bristle brush, a fine-tooth comb, and a grooming glove
1. Use bristle brush, start at head and work down he dog’s body, ending with the hind flanks (the space between the hip and thigh) and the tail. Be gentle but thorough!
2. Use the comb, use long strokes to remove loose hair.
3. Use the grooming glove.
4. (Opt.) Spritz a little conditioning spray or rub on a bit of coconut oil
Exercise
- Mini bull terriers require enough exercise to keep good muscle tone.
- Preferably access to a yard but can live in a sizable apartment or condo.
- A moderate walk daily is needed after the 1 year point
-  NOT AN OUTSIDE DOG
- A “sudden lameness” can occur in puppies
- Puppies’ joints can’t handle the energy the puppy wants to exert
- Minimum exercise, no jumping up and down from heights, or sudden stops at high speeds for puppies
Training
- Minis will usually require a trainer with a firm hand and a gentle voice, with patience and a good sense of humor
- Clicker training is recommended
- Positive, light, and fun training that keeps the terrier’s attention is most effective
- Heavy socialization from 8-20 wks is essential, and starting training early is a good idea
- Canine Good Citizen programs are awesome!
- Some cool trainers listed by state below!
Health
Ask your breeder for:
- Health tests performed on sire and dam (father and mother)
- Results on heart and kidney issues, deafness, luxating patellas (a kneecap disorder), and primary lens luxation (dislocation of the eye lens) tests
Recommended Health Tests:
- BEAR Testing
- Kidney-Urine Analysis
- Opthalmologist Exam
- Cardiac Exam
- PLL DNA Test
- May have issues with glaucoma, lens luxation, and deafness
- Susceptible to kidney disease
- Regular hearing and eye exams are highly recommended.
Official Breed Club Health Statement
History
- Bull terriers were created as fighting dogs in 1830s England
- Cross between bulldogs and (now extinct) english terriers
-  Soon a mini version was worked on to use as above-ground ratters (it’s exactly what is sounds like.)
- Recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1991 as their 134th breed.
Other Future Owner Info
Energy Level: Energetic
Children: Better with older children
Barking: Likes to be vocal
- Can’t be home alone for too long
- Will get bored and tear apart everything
- They can suffer from separation anxiety which can cause nonstop barking and chasing of the tail incessantly
- Incredibly affectionate
-  Unneutered male don’t get along with other males

Over 1,000 dogs were brought, including Rudy Vallee's Doberman Pinscher, King, and Mary Pickford's German Shepherd, Silver.
You could help raise funds or have your own dog participate in "Dogs Salute Dogs."
Visit Sgt. Stubby, who is stuffed and on display, and covered with a blanket that holds his medals, in an exhibit titled "The Price of Freedom: Americans at War" at the National Museum of American History.
Watch a movie or documentary about military or police dogs such as Max, Sgt. Stubby: An American Hero, War Dog: A Soldier's Best Friend, Megan Leavey, or War Dogs: America's Forgotten Heroes.
