Today my random Doctor Who opinion nobody asked for is that I think each Doctor should’ve been allowed to curse, except it should be limited to *one* curse word that they could use multiple times.
My classic Doctor Who knowledge is limited, I’ve mostly seen 3/4 and of course 8.
So for this I’ll start with Eight and go forward.
Partially based on conversations with my husband because what else do you talk about at night?
Eight: Hell. ‘Hell no’ ‘What the hell’ ‘Go to hell’ it just fits. Especially with his memory issues and bizarre adventures
Nine: Fuck. Just sprinkle it anywhere. From ‘D’you mind not fuckin’ farting while I’m trying to save the world’ to ‘You’ve got to be fuckin’ kidding me’ in the big brother house…
Ten: Shit/Shite. Mostly used to describe the taste of the random things he licks or the situations he gets himself into. Frequently used phrase: ‘Donna don’t touch that shit’
Eleven: Damn/Dammit. Also sprinkled anywhere. ‘Take them all, dammit!’ ‘Good men don’t need any damn rules. Now’s not the time to find out why I have so damn many.’
Twelve: Fuck. Added liberally. Just. Anywhere. From anger to joy. ‘Hate is always fuckin’ foolish’ ‘Never eat fuckin’ pears’ ‘Do you think I care for you so fuckin’ little that fuckin’ betrayin’ me would make a fuckin’ difference?’
Thirteen: Back to Damn/Dammit. On occasion when necessary. ‘Dammit! If I was still a bloke, I could get on with the damn job and not have to waste time defending myself.’
Fourteen: Hell. He has plenty of what the hell moments. My personal fav and first would be ‘What the hell?! I know these teeth!’
Fifteen: C*nt. Not a word I can stomach out loud, but he’d use it in both the funny complimentary way and the insult way. Examples include ‘Ruby that dress is serving c*nt’ and ‘Lindy Pepper-Bean was a c*nt
(Idk why but that word just gives me the ick, but I know what I’m talking about with this I promise 🤣)

Aired: March 26th, 2005
Written & Directed by: Russel T. Davies, Keith Boak (respectively)
Main Cast: Christopher Eccleston as the Ninth Doctor, Billie Piper as Rose Tyler
Summary: Rose, a nineteen-year-old girl living with her mum, loses her job one night when a strange middle-aged man in a leather jacket and buzzcut blows up the mall after saving her from living dummies. He comes to her house the next day and when he leaves again, she still has no idea who he is. Or what he is. She only knows what he told her, that his name is the Doctor, and what she understands: wherever he goes, trouble follows. She sets to find him, but soon finds out that you don't find the Doctor: he finds you.
Opinion: for me, this one is a 10/10. I must have told this story a thousand times already, but I remember the night I watched it for the first time, in bed with a taco, and how it pulled me in immediately. How I had stars in my eyes. I didn't like science fiction back then, so I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but man did this episode pull me in. It's so camp, and the Doctor manages to be so silly, but also so impressive and mysterious at the same time that I couldn't possibly not like it. It gives you glimpses into his backstory, while also covering it up with the best crappy CGI you've ever seen as well as a hilarious and touching dynamic between him and Rose, and before you know, you're addicted. If you're looking for a place to start this show, look no more: this is it. There is no better starting point to New Doctor Who than the beginning, with Christopher Eccleston as, for me, the best Doctor Doctor Who has ever seen.

there's such a massive history with doctor who and it hit me lately that the sensation of seeing that the companions and doctors you watched in real-time have become the past is a sensation every fan has felt for 60 years. at some point people missed jon pertwee and could remember watching him recently, even though tom baker was on tv as the doctor now and they liked him too. and nowadays we miss rose tyler and martha jones and amy pond and clara oswald and donna noble and tennant and smith and capaldi like those people missed baker when davison took the stage. like people missed ace and wondered if the show would ever come back, and then got excited and still felt it wasn't quite the same when eccleston was announced. like. it feels so recent, like just yesterday rose saw the tardis for the first time, but that was twenty years ago. feels like the doctor just made the speech in 'the rings of akhaten' and that was a decade ago. clara is gone, amy is gone. peter capaldi went from gray to white. and the show is going on and children will think of ncuti gatwa and millie gibson and huge white tardis corridors when they think of doctor who in the future. to them, david tennant is already what tom baker is to us. this story has a huge legacy. when you're watching doctor who, it ironically begins to feel like you're making history just by watching it.

there are 2 versions of any dr who season at the time it comes out:
1) the actual dr who season
2) the much cooler version of the same season created, goncharov-like, by fans theorizing about what everything could mean, which will slowly dissipate like sand running thru an hourglass as more and more episodes come out

never trust a doctor who fan to tell you which episodes of doctor who to watch because I just saw someone on my dash say that absolutely nothing consequential happened during the eleventh doctor’s run. ive seen people say that twelve’s last season was low quality. they’ve said that nine’s season is good, but you don’t really need to see it to understand what’s going on. someone suggested that ten is overrated and totally out of character for the doctor and his first two seasons are worth skipping so you don’t have to see any romance nonsense. tons of people think thirteen’s has no redeeming qualities whatsoever and should be written off entirely. trust no one. you gotta take matters into your own hands. godspeed

The thing about doctor who is that every episode is simultaneously the best and worst episode in the show and you can’t trust anyone who tells you it’s one or the other

if nine and rose had fucked i think it would have been totally fine for their relationship though jack would have been lowkey highkey jealous and then that would have been a whole thing to deal with. ten and rose well. we saw that kiss in "new earth" and billie piper did that for herself for rose and for the people. if ten and rose had just fucked i think that it would have made the rest of series two even wilder but also they deserved it. martha deserved to kill ten with hammers for the buckwild post-rose hangover emotional manipulation but if they had fucked at the end of "smith and jones" i feel like he either wouldn't have treated martha nearly as badly as he did all series OR it would double down and be even more deeply insane. ten and donna. no. donna has no interest in that twig and also throwing that dynamic on the tate-tennant already ridiculously good chemistry doesn't work outside of shakespeare and the catherine tate show. if eleven had let amy fuck him after "flesh and stone" they would have both deeply regretted it and it would have absolutely ruined rory's life but also the level of emotional intimacy they were at in series five was already at an all time high and then rory AND river get brought into the fray which is just deeply messy. eleven and clara to me have zero sexual chemistry together or. much chemistry of any kind at all which is wild because matt smith and jenna coleman have chemistry in abundance as themselves and i don't think those characters fucking would have done anything to that story. twelve clara is one of the most batshit dynamics of the revival era and i truly don't know what them fucking would have done but i imagine given the insanity of what we got on screen when they were avoiding ("avoiding") any romance i can only imagine it would be worse for me to witness emotionally. if anyone suggests that twelve and bill should have fucked i'm blowing up this whole website. if you're a twelve nardole fan though god bless you

Doctor Who - Opinions
-the ninth doctor was the best. no one will ever be as good as he was
-same for donna, best companion, no one will ever compare
-imo 9th > 10th > 12th > 14th > 11th > 13th (dunno about 15th yet, haven't seen enough of him)
-donna > rose > jack > martha > nardole > bill > river/clara > rory > graham >>>>>>>>>>>>>> amy (idk about yaz and ryan I honestly dont see any distinctive personality traits apart from the fact that ryan is always complaining and generally unpleasant)
-ninerose >>>>>>>> tenrose
-clara is a cool character, it's just her plots that made people dislike her
-i don't get the obsession people have over thoschei. or the master in general and his relationship with the doctor? apart from missy and twelve ofc
-i could never warm up to amy, nor do i get how people can like her. she was abusive, not a girlboss. didn't deserve rory
-i have mixed feelings about river. like obviously, slay my goddess, but also, she's everything that's wrong with moffat's writing of women? she's actually dependant and praises the doctor and never makes a decision for herself? never questions the doctor? that's not ok
-idc how good moffat's storylines get, i'll choose rtd any day. i'll refer you to this post as to why.
-chibnall's era feels flat. i don't hate 13, she's adorable, but I used to laugh and cry several times an episode during the first ten series. now it's like twice a series if we're lucky.
-i liked the campy effects way better than the disney-style expensive cgi they now use to try and balance out mediocre writing (I'm sorry but wtf was that Space babies episode and how did they manage to make it even more cringe than the series one Slitheen two-parters?)

okay i really loved that ep but did anyone else find the male-presenting comment kinda weird? “something a male-presenting time lord will never understand” like we literally just crucially established that the doctor doesn’t have a gender so why does it matter what they present as ?? it feels like an attempt at “men are stupid because girl power” but…. the doctor isn’t a… they’re not…

if u start a sentence saying “omg I love 13” I’ll love u forever and you’ll be my bestie. That’s a no-brainer.
But if u keep going saying a “but” you really lost me. Like sh sh sh I don’t care about your buts your opinions about that doesn’t matter here.
