The last post is part of the reason Faust Got In My Brain So Bad-
Something about someone who's self destructive behaviour has a positive impact on the people around him is so. Deeply tragic.
Faust is someone who can't slow down or let his mask of the friendly neighbourhood doctor slip for even a moment because that's seconds wasted where he could be helping his patients. And what's a bigger insult to everyone he's hurt than that?
#I've been thinking about Faust again recently-#another thing I've been trying to rack my brain for was how Dr. Baldhead happened and I feel like I do have an answer for that#Faust was someone who was a doctor during one of the most horrific wars in human history#and despite it he managed to gain a reputation as a mircale worker who could heal any injury and cure any illness#which he's right to have! Faust was so close to achieving the ability to *resurrect the dead*#so close to no one having to die on his watch in a world filled with death and destruction and entire countries getting wiped.#and he failed. For the *first time in his career* Faust lost a patient.#And unequipped for the grief that comes with it... I don't know how things could've gone any differently.#compounding that with everything Faust did as Dr. Baldhead..#I can understand why everything happened the way it did. I can understand why Faust sees himself as someone unworthy of help or forgiveness.#FAUST... MMGNGB... I will stop rambling in the tags this is getting too long- but know I'm always thinking about him.#I also hope this made sense- my bad if I'm off base here <:] good thing most of my mutuals are asleep!#yappin'

Such a pretty house and such a pretty garden
(I was thinking too much about the part in “Alone Infection” that sounds like the intro to “No Surprises” by Radiohead.)
Due to the length, ID under the read more.
ID 1: A gif of a child's drawing of Faust when he was still a regular doctor. A little girl stands next to him. They are both holding flowers and smiling. There is a name crossed out in the corner. Text: "A heart that's full up like a landfill" ID 2: A gif of Faust with a scalpel. He is crying as he slashes the throat of a silhouette. Text: "A job that slowly kills you"
ID 3: Faust faces away from the viewer, putting on the paper bag. Text: "Bruises that wont heal"
ID 4: A gif of several Fausts as he embraces his "silly" persona, smiling through the bag and posing cutely. One of them holds a flower as its petals fall off. Text: "You look so tired, unhappy"
ID 5: A still image of a doctor's bag, including bandages, pills, and a stethoscope. Dr. Baldhead stands inside, holding a bloody scalpel. He is looking at the viewer, blankly. Text: "Bring down the government"
ID 6: A gif showing a close up of a hand administering an injection to one of Ariels' gears. Text: "They don't speak for us"
ID 7: A gif of another child's drawing showing post-Strive Faust in a crudely drawn house. Some simple flowers are in front of it. Text: "I'll take a quiet life"

This scene from -STRIVE-'s story's epilogue has always been so nice to me
It perfectly encapsulates both Faust and Chronus with just one sentence and feels unique to the other epilogue scenes. It feels like it was written JUST for these two.
Faust was forgiven for his sins as a serial killer (likely Doctor Baldhead. I mean, the rare fish with his bag on it is literally called "Dr. Octohead", it can't get much more obvious) and brought peace to the world with his healing. The best example of this I can think of is Leo going from calling him "the unlicensed doctor" in Faust's arcade mode, to discussing strategy in the same room as him.
As for Chronus, while he hasn't had time to do too much just yet, the seeds are already planted for his redemption. The first step was Faust choosing not to kill Chronus when they met at the end of Xrd SIGN's story. On it's own, this didn't mean much, since all Faust wanted from Chronus was answers about the Japanese colony, however, by the time we reach Faust's Revelator arcade mode, things have changed. They aren't exactly "friends", but it's clear that they're now working toward the same goal: figure out what's going on in the Japanese colony. By the end of it, however, not only si Faust actively protecting Chronus from Leo, Chronus even sits down and has tea while Faust calls Haehyun!
Also, side note, but, I find it really funny that Chronus just slides across the screen when they run away from Leo, I have no idea why they didn't just speed up his walking animation.
Back to the main topic, in my opinion, it's this tiny bit of forgiveness that pushes Chronus to do more than he has to. Sure, he could just sit in the Japanese colony all day, but he doesn't, he goes out on his own to save Asuka from Absolute Defense: Felion (btw, I am 100% certain that Chronus invented that technique and no one can convince me otherwise). This action, of course, helps bring peace to the world of GG, as Asuka was VITAL to stopping the revival of Justice in Revelator.
TL;DR: Chronus for -STRIVE-, Chronus cool, line from -STRIVE- epilogue cool

Happy Birthday Baldhead/Faust! ( Who is definitely not the same person )
They're both so silly and I love their unique presentation and animations; I'm glad Faust is healing and feels better about himself as well.
They're good doctors!

I've been trying to wrap my head around Dr Baldhead but with no luck, so I was wondering if you'd be willing to divulge your thoughts on him?
I am not sure if you mean lore-wise or gameplay-wise. If it's the latter, see, while Faust/Baldhead has a reputation for being weird, when you boil down his plotline and character arc it's actually pretty straightforward
Famous magic doctor is loved for his skills and perfect reputation -> suddenly a young patient died on his operating table (later revealed to be through third party manipulation but as far as he knows she just died suddenly) -> have a mental breakdown out of grief and confusion that he could make such an egregious mistake (in the process obtaining a distorted view of the world that harming and killing people is actually helping them due to said breakdown) -> have an epiphany (or are visited by the ghost of the dead patient, it's vague) -> he realizes the pain and suffering he's caused by his rampage and devotes himself to be a healer traveling around to find as many patients as possible (while also wearing a mask to hide his identity, both out of secrecy and out of shame)
It's kinda fantastical, but when you boil it down it's pretty digestable.
Personally I have a few extra bits of personal interpretation, that Faust had something of a prideful side and developing an alter-ego is his way of rationalizing that the accident wasn't *really* his fault because he was such a good doctor, and that 'Dr. Baldhead' was the name given to him by the little girl who ended up dying, but that's all just fan conjecture.
