Faust and Chronus actually came up in the Q&A with Daisuke that was held earlier today at Japan Expo in France!

I thought it was neat, so here's my rough translations of what was being said in Japanese. (question was at this time stamp)

Can you tell us any anecdotes or funny stories about Faust?

A:

Just Faust himself is already funny, right? But well, this is a story we haven't depicted yet, but after the story of Strive, Faust and a character called Chronus end up continuing to travel together for a long time. (…)

Going with that- Chronus is a character with a very rigid personality, but through living with Faust, I imagine he would gradually become softer over time in a slice of life comedy-like scenario.

I just wanna take a moment to poke fun at the character selection in the new Guilty Gear poll just because I think it's kinda funny

What. Are they gonna like, kill Zato again or something? Or are they talking about the Eddie that showed up for like a minute in Accent Core???

Can she even fight? I can understand Vernon somewhat, but I don't think she does anything (unless it's in the book she's from and I just don't know).

I guess we're doing revival again.

I don't think most of the Conclave can even fight. Baldias had a forbidden beast, and the only reason Axus did anything remotely similar to fighting is because he had a gun.

She was retconned into being skyscraper sized though???

Did they forget that he's still just a head in Strive's credits or something

I was going to put Robo Ky Mk.II here, but I reached the image limit. Anyway, I find it funny that it made it onto the poll and not Leopaldin. You know, Isuka's other original character that isn't A.B.A.

These are really funny because there is literally no way for anyone who doesn't know Japanese to read the manga legally because there's never been an official translation. The manga is Guilty Gear Xtra, btw.

I've been thinking that most of humanity will likely NEVER forgive Chronus no matter what he does. Because what he's done is on such a big scale that on people's minds it's gotten to "there is no way he could ever be a good person nor grow from this." territory.

And how that could contrast with. Faust. Because practically everyone as far as we've seen hasn't used his past against him.

(Except Venom that one time in X or XX but he wouldn't do it now) They recognise the work he's doing and atoning.

Thing is, that atonement (pre strive) is like. Fucking Extra. It might even be that he put More Effort than what he put in pre Dr Baldhead. Work that gets him into Not Good Places because he's SO focused on making sure he's Not A Bad Person anymore that he never thought about what *he* needed.

That's how wider public got convinced Faust is Good Person now, yk. How much he'd lay down his own life for them.

(Alright is the last part a bit cruel to assume of the public? Perhaps. But like when it comes to Murder I'm sure people are gonna be Strict on whether or not you can be considered a Good Person now.)

Whereas to Chronus, he did what Faust did before he was Faust. He Tried To Do What He Thought Was The Right Thing. In a time where he wasn't sure when the Universal Will would try to make its move on humanity again, he tried to make sure humanity was safe under his and the Conclave's hands.

But of course. It only led to death and destruction. They have made the same mistakes.

But again. Since Chronus' crimes span across the Whole World, affecting thousands, upon thousands of lives, people Are Gonna Put That Against Him.

No matter what he does, unless maybe, a sliver of chance he goes like Faust and Works Himself To The Fucking Bone To Prove Himself a Better Person Than Before, people are not going to see him as a man that deserves to live.
