Neat little project I noticed that I figured was worth highlighting. One Last Story of Angels & Demons is definitely my favourite of the lot personally but Destiny of Mondas has some effective body horror Cyberman origin stuff too.

TTC spent hundreds of years tied to the table as the Citadel began to be built.

TTC 6 was the first one to see the world since TTC 2.

Rassilon is showing Susan the story of the Timeless Child during the Time War (Presumably around Susan’s War Era). He intends to make her a Lord Burner.

Narrator is observing the end of the Universe and start of the next

Talks about Gallifrey’s history, and the Time Lord’s arrogance.

Talking about alternative timelines and parallel realities

Talks about the Triumvirate

Christopher Barry is the first incarnation of the Other in this one particular account. Implied to be various things, though this account focuses on the half-human half-Time Lord account (Lungbarrow Leela and Andred’s kids account).

Barry meets Patience in this story, she gives him an onion.

He was later in his first life, regenerates of old age in one account. He invents dimensional engineering

Rassilon just lost a kid due to the Curse of Pythia.

Rassilon makes himself a vampire hybrid

Mondas was ‘The jewel of the Solar System’

The Doctor is still called ‘the Other’ in this. He is putting a Timonic Fusion device on Mondas as part of his orders.

Cybernetic Conversion is being implemented

Seeing a Cyberman is what made the Doctor decide to destroy Mondas

They use Cybermats to ‘save’ people’s consciousnesses

He’s working for Division

The Doctor feels mercy at the last second and dislodges Mondas from orbit rather than destroying it

The Supreme Leader is gonna turn everyone into Cybermen and the population are in favour of this. This is the origin of the Cybermen from the Cyberman comic rather than the Spare Parts ones.

The Ambassadors of Life (Holmes)

Two planets received a peace message, Gallifrey and Earth. Only Gallifrey could decipher it.

Division sends the Doctor in, his status as a Supreme Council member and Founder were classified. His Division commander only sees him as Tecteun’s pet.

The Ambassadors meet with the Doctor.

He has a white wig here. He’s still called the Other.

The Doctor has a hatred for the Time Lords, but still complies. He is very cynical about humanity.

The Doctor had been a soldier before.

Events of the Mars Probe 6 situation. The one before Mars Probe 7 from Ambassadors of Death.

The Ambassadors kill one of the members by accident, souring relations and setting up the Ambassadors of Death.

outside of the fact that everyone who has sex is murdered by the narrative, this is a surprisingly chill portrayal of female sexuality? these teen girls are horny and actively enjoying Getting It On with their boytoys. no pushy boyfriends sneaking in through their bedroom windows--these ladies are taking the initiative to sneak out and GET SOME. one of them gets laid and then immediately orders her boyfriend to get her a beer. (yes she gets Slashered soon afterward, but so does the boyfriend so honestly, gender equality.) yes the Final Girl is the only one not having sex, but she's not bullied for that, nor are her friends slut shamed except possibly by being murdered by the narrative

actually the only character who is shown being morally condemned on-screen is michael myers. specifically FOR his violent overreaction to other people's sex lives. (people he is spying on). metaphorically, the villain is American Puritanism sticking its judgy nose into other people's business.

but actually the real villain is the doctor. guy's a judgemental, shaming, pathologizing asshole. and he's been in charge of michael's care since he was SIX YEARS OLD? kid never had a chance. i'd go on a killing spree too

also the parents. where are the parents? it's halloween night and all the teenage girls are home babysitting their younger siblings? come to think of it, michael's first victim was his own older sister, whom he killed while she was babysitting him. teen girls are really shouldering a labour burden here. maybe parentification is the true villain

side note: mike commits his first murder wearing a clown costume...which is never referenced again? his 'iconic' costume is a generic mask and wig and jumpsuit, when we coulda had a Killer Clown Michael Myers??? travesty

i like how the Final Girl and her friend casually smoke weed in her car. yeah she's an honor student and her friend is the sheriff's daughter. yeah they smoke weed. so what it's 1978

(to reiterate, mike is 21 and should be at the club. im not saying he shouldn't be rampaging, im saying it's sad that he broke out, tasted freedom for the first time in his life, and immediately snuck back into his childhood home to go rampaging. let's have a remake where he goes to a nightclub and has a few beers. maybe some slutty dancing. then rampage)

Cannot emphasise how OBSESSED i am with the Doctor being able to hear the show's backing music. Does he have favourites? Does he ever miss the funky classic who tunes?

Its giving Day of the Doctor novelisation, where the Doctor's vision changed when the show's colour grading did.

I love whenever they make allusions to the 4th wall or skirt near it. 1st Doctor talking to the people at home. 4th Doctor's laugh at the camera. 12th Doctor's monologues and playing of the Theme tune. Its all so wonderful.

But to put it in the forefront. To literally have him say " I Thought that was non-diegetic " (music not actually present in the world and only for the audience) to have him WINK at us.

The weirdly competent Doctor

So! The Watchtower's Medical Bay is a hub of constant Activity. With the number of Heroes who work under the Justice League, there are always injuries, health check-Ups, and illnesses that need healing.

But with the amount of Variant Biologies that those Heroes have, it's always a guessing game as to how to help them best. Some Metahumans react positively to penicillin, but others react like it's their Kryptonite. Some Aliens have anatomy similar to Humans, others are so different you can't tell the Stomach from the Bladder.

So when they hired a New Doctor for the Medical Bay, they had to run him through an entire Course on Variant Biologies and how best to treat specific Heroes. It was long and difficult to remember fully, but it was necessary for him to know.

But then the new Doctor started correcting Them.

"Actually, Martian's react better to the Syrup of Eucalyptus Plants better than Penicillin, since Eucalyptus is very similar to a medicinal plant from Mars which they used in many of their antibiotics."

"I don't think just pumping double doses of sedative is the best way to calm down a Speedster, that could have adverse effects on their body. Perhaps try Psychic Intervention? Their minds move a Mile a Second, but if you can calm them down their bodies will follow suit."

"Of course you use Micro-Doses of Kryptonite to operate on Superman! What else would you do?! I don't know, maybe ask JLD to enchant your Equipment to make use of Kryptonian suseptiblity to Magic? The Kryptonite is just gonna give him Cancer!"

Of course the Doctors didn't take kindly to being rudely corrected by a newbie, and Fired him on his first day.

Then a few days later their usual Treatments don't work, and they decide to give those strategies the Quack Doctor gave them out of desperation.

And Lo and Behold, they work! Martian Manhunter is fully healed and feels much better than the previous times he has needed surgery. Apparently they used a different Antibiotic that worked better with his Biology. Which was incredible, how had they figured it out?

Another Doctor you say? One who was experienced on Martian Biology and Medicinal History? He would very much like to meet with the man!

So I am watching Linkara's Rememberance of the Daleks review. He said the original script for the Daleks that there was a third party manipulating the Kaled-Thal War . So if that did indeed happen. My suggestion is this. Either The Other was that Third Party or The First Doctor is responsible and the war is a metaphor for what The Hybrid was teased to be.

s1 doctor who (2005) is so special to me. they had the budget of a potato. a dustbin eats a guy and burps in the pilot. it only really picks up around ep 5. nine in his jacket. rose in her peak dumbass era. the special effects that are just so bad so awful so terrible. the introduction of captain jack harkness the world was never the same. are you my mummy? what do you mean the time lords are dead doctor what the fuck do you mean you killed them all. bad wolf? bad wolf? fucking iconic.
