High school frenemy!!!

First off I think no one I mean no one was ready for the engagement of what high school frenemy had did. I see people saying that this was all planned for the show to get the hype it had gotten but it wasn't. This was such an organic growth of success that happened each week. And it kind of sounds crazy to say when you look at the cast! I mean they're two main leads skynani both have a huge following of their own and have done a lot of acting in their careers prior to even being together. And so they're pretty well respected! And then now with sky joining gmm and to meet nani again and be in hsf it was as if their career just catapulted exceptionally. I can't go on about how much they both deserve this I remember when it was just starting out and the show didn't have that much engagement barely any promo for the beginning. But as episodes went on the trends the engagements the hashtags everything started to become louder. Sky and Nani we're doing events more and more every other week press tours in between were more frequent. They truly earned the success so much, skynani have said they didn't expect people to care let alone love their show, a show about friendship or bromance. And yet now they're going to have their own fan con next year of February! have two shows for them the second one literally being by popular demand lol literally being filmed the week before the conference because it was a no brainer that these two need to work together for as long as they can. To have seen this growth happen in real time has been so crazy and yet stressful yet fun lol. Their chemistry on screen is something that everyone in that whole building up in gmm can't even really put into words let alone the fans so 😂😂 like it's just unfathomable with those two on screen for 16 episodes that was amazing!!! And again these two have acted prior to their careers and yet it feels like their careers have seemed reignited with this. Especially Nani because he's been in shows that done seemingly well people still talk about F4 and homeschool every now and then Wednesday club maybe lol and he has said to himself that he can't believe it it's like a pinch me moment for him truly honestly he was really emotional today in tears expressing his gratitude and his gratefulness for all of this. And for sky he's so happy to be here! to be having someone that he can call his partner that he gets along with so well who he understands and vice versa and can confidently says is his friend. Saint and shin relationship being able to heal from it's past wounds and move forward has been the most heart-wrenching but as well the most heartwarming story to have seen🤧 those two characters will always be characters that I cannot forget.

Now the finale in of itself was action packed as they said I think everyone's characters'stories have wrapped up really well. The show focuses so much on family, forgiveness, and of course friendship it touched me so deeply because I know how important it is to have relationships and doesn't always have to be the romantic ones just the platonic ones. But to have that friend whether it is a group or just that singular one person it's all meaningful. All that has been said about friendships and how to take care of them we all heard this before but it doesn't ever really hurt to have that reminder. Now we wait until the fan me and then into the new era for their shows and I can't wait to see the way it's just going to be more than what it is now it's just going to get higher and higher for them 🤧

sorry for this really long ass rant but i had an impulse to share some things after reading cuteness overloaded discussions

I really began to ship f+n after witnessing Finn's protectiveness, which is reserved for Noah only (i've also seen IT ,GB, Turning promo videos but the way finn cares for Noah is unlike anything, dare i say, outrageously romantic) Especially when finn placed Noah 4th( Mom, Dad, Nick, Noah) on his MySpace list and got a little teary-eyed when Noah mentioned Finn and Millie in his top 8.

I really enjoyed several videos showing Finn being super protective of Noah. In one, Finn is biting his nails when Noah gets cut off, signaling Millie to hand the mic to Noah, invites Noah to join him when he, Gaten, and Caleb are huddling (It's noticeable how Noah steps back and 'shy noah' takes over when others are talking, but Finn is the only cast member who seems to catch on to that)

Finn roasted Gaten and Caleb before their lip-sync battle (he made me laugh with how cleverly he roasted Gaten), but he couldn't say anything mean about Noah. Instead, he said, “Noah has bad stage fright; I hope he pull through today.” He just couldn’t bring himself to be harsh. THE THINGS WE DO FOR LOVE!

As for Noah, he’s such a sweetheart and treats everyone nicely. It’s hard to pinpoint who he truly likes/dislikes but Finn was the key for me to see why F+N might be real. Mr. sassy has no problem expressing his likes and dislikes up front. so you can tell he liked noah a great deal. he becomes a 'gentle finn' around him or when talking about him.

Before, I thought finn was just plain rude (a narrative circulated by Millie fans, which isn’t wrong btw, he didn’t like her for reasons i am not aware of)

You can definitely tell that Noah brings out a soft, cuddly side of Finn that he usually keeps to himself. It's really adorable.

finn yaps about noah like its nobody's business and even caleb was like 'we know this poker story. how many times! ' but finn was determined to talk about noah till the end of time with audience and DGF and narrates again with his soft eyes and cute giggles (expression reserved only for noah) . honestly cant blame caleb for giving finn a side eye. everyone sure likes noah but just cuz finn is in love with him, they are not gonna sit there and listen to Finn explain how cute Noah is and why noah is my sunshine essay.

Eduardo forgot noah's joke but finn wanted to remember the exact words to deliver it perfectly “What did noah say, it was so funny!" LMAO. i am sorry but finn has a GiAnT crush on noah.

Noah's BFF could not guess the right color of his eyes(millie said hazel) only to be corrected by Finn 'ITS GREEN' who was sitting on the opposite corner and still managed to answer correctly, without even looking, on a mission to scan & catalog Noah’s organs.

Its only because noah is dealing with the will byers syndrome, since Will is the gay character, people mistakenly think he has a fat crush on Mike, but Mike doesn’t feel the same way. Honestly, if Noah hadn't come out, people would be saying the opposite, questioning why Finn is so obsessed with Noah, and so on.

to summarise, Finn is the perfect BIG SPOON for Noah, and pretty sure he has strong urge to show his cuteness aggression whenever Noah is around. its a win-win. hoping that Finn and Noah are together and looking out for each other.

ouattober2023 Day 6: Fav Rarepair

Red Warrior (aka Mulan Rouge, fandom, it was right there, come on)

The gif speaks for itself already, Do I need to say more? No. Will I? Absolutely.

Back in S2 I was very happy. I had Sleeping Warrior to ship and also Red Beauty. Two good ships. But over the years there was the question "what if Mulan and Ruby ever met?". It seemed like a fun constellation. The honorable warrior, serious, focused, happily doing her duty. And the werewolf waitress who effortlessly talks to people, who can be mean if need be (and the full moon is out). Imagine Ruby showing Mulan around Storybrooke. She'd have her start her own gym so fast. (After being teased for so long, somebody should have taken Mulan to Storybrooke and let her watch a film already.)

I watched S5 spoiler free. No promos. It's fun. But there is always the guest cast list and seeing the names Jamie Chung and Meghan Ory when The Bear King started? EXCITEMENT! I was then mesmerized by the Mulan&Merida scenes, I almost forgot I was waiting to see Ruby again. And oh boy, THE WOLF! Once again foiled with magic, but that was okay. When Mulan arrives at the Witch's Hut next? A different kind of magic happening indeed...

Meet Cute noun; (in a film or television programme) an amusing or charming first encounter between two characters that leads to the development of a romantic relationship between them.

Yep, I'd say Mulan almost getting attacked saying "you're not a wolf" with a big smile "you just need a little help remembering who you are", then splashing that potion to reveal Ruby, now sorta sitting above her? Perfect meet cute you can talk about for ages. It calls back a pivotal point from Mulan's past and we get to see a mostly decent CGI wolf (in broad daylight). Especially because we know that Red has killed people before and it's so unclear how much control she has, what exactly the Witch has done to her, ending it with her all smiling as well, is great. Of course I have to cry about "My name's Ruby. My friends call me Red." (Sorry, Mulan should have called her Red later on, to hammer that home.)

Mulan has hearteyes from the get-go, Ruby sits there panting. Frame this and put it in a museum. A clashing meeting that is definitely cute. I mean, there's a sword and fur involved.

It's funny how Mulan forgets to even introduce herself and Ruby has to ask her name later on (because suddenly it's night, how long did they sit like that?). And for somebody who likes to overanalyze it's hilarious how they do manage that Mulan mentions Aurora - with the sad music swelling in the background, to remind us all how their last meeting went - and then we cut to Ruby saying goodbye to Snow. In my mind a good reason this pairing works is, that they can get drunk together and lament how terribly in love they both once were with a princess. It's a fun thing to bond over.

Mulan is clearly the rare holder of the braincell, she also brings in a lot of training, so a good fighting form. Ruby is the muscle, but especially for the EF she has a special kind of wit thanks to the curse!persona. The Bear King allowed us to see a darker side of Mulan, hitting rock bottom, being selfish and looking for a fight.So Ruby is a great person to have her enjoy life and find a balance between duty and fun. This is kinda the promise at the end of the ep, finding a path for Mulan, while Ruby searches werewolves.

Obligatory Doylian rant: Red Warrior was the plan. Whatever you wanna say about the writers, they knew this episode was a romantic set-up. There was a cryptic tweet, some drama and so it's all speculative, but I have made my peace that this came down to studio interference. The live action Mulan film was in the works already, it was coming, Mulan is an official big Disney princess and even though everybody with a bit of media literacy understood that Mulan was very much in love with Aurora, there was this plausible deniability and she wasn't like... that gay. Oh no. And this is why Dorothy got squeezed in, Mulan left with nothing. Clearly not what was promised to Jamie Chung. I have no proof, but it is the best explanation how we went from The Bear King to Ruby Slippers (zero hate for that episode or the Red Kansas ship!!).

I want to know what kind of adventures they had together. How did they go about this search? Any rumors about wolves? The maddening thing is how they managed to end up in Oz at all. I know there's a mysterious BTS pic for the ep. But nevermind, what we do get in the beginning is a duo with a routine, complete with a badass back-to-back protective stance. I always pictured them together in Storybrooke, Ruby showing Mulan around. But I guess what I needed was them out in the woods alone, traveling realms and kicking ass (I'm a simple girl, with simple needs).

Two wonderful interactions at the end of TBK are when the Witch arrives at the coronation. Ruby is ready to go on the offense, but Mulan holds her back. Just a few frames, but it's perfect. And then there's their little banter Ruby: "I might not be the best person to ask for dating advice. I kind of ate the only boyfriend I've ever had." Mulan: "Yes, that disqualifies you." [...] Ruby: "It's better than wallowing in self-pity." Mulan: "I don't wallow!"

THEY ARE ALREADY PERFECT FOR EACH OTHER! Endless teasing and running head first into enemies (don't worry, Mulan has a plan; Ruby dramatically takes off her cloak... sometimes even when there is no wolf moon, just to distract enemies).

Oh Anon you're so real for this. Honestly anyone who dared claim 'vmin divorce' should be sued because what we got to see today? There was never any talk of divorce, ever, if anything there was a vow renewal haha

When we heard that Tae would have a fan meeting as part of his Layover promo, we joked around about how cute it'd be if Jimin would come as special guest but ultimately dismissed the idea. We didn't want to get our hopes up concluding that likely there would be no guest or it could be someone else. So imagine our endless surprise when suddenly pictures and videos hit the TL on twt showing Jimin up on stage with Tae. No joke, I nearly dropped my phone and then thought there's no way, I had to be seeing things. I mean, I was but my eyes were not lying to me. Introduced as his best friend.

So not only did Tae's fan meeting give us Tae performing and having fun with ARMY, it also gave us Tae having fun with Jimin with ARMY. Jimin also spoke about how while preparing for today, Tae called him and asked him if he'd want to come so he'd asked if that would be okay, but in the end, he came as quickly as he could. And isn't that the sweetest thing? Having your first solo fan meeting and having your soulmate right there by your side to experience this with?

Please do check out this video of Jimin coming up on stage and Tae being so happy, it seemed like he didn't know what to do with himself and all this emotions so he smacked Jimin's ass, after Jimin cutely smiled at him, and then pulled him closer by the hip. Very vmin behaviour. Somebody hold me because I might combust.

Speaking of pulling people closer, we also got at least two endlessly adorable vmin hugs that had us yelling as well. The way Jimin closed his eyes? I cannot even.

Tae and Jimin also played games with ARMYs, including one person who came dressed as Bart Simpson saying they did it simply because it hoped it would make Tae happy and smile. How sweet is that? That's the kind of things Tae deserves, ARMYs showing him just how much they love and appreciate him because truly, look at him and tell me how anyone can dislike him. They did challenges and played ping pong and even danced, including Tae and Jimin dancing to Go Go with Jimin looking at Tae as though knowing that Tae is their choreography memory king and obviously he remembered every step. And we also got this sweet moment of Jimin caressing Tae's head.

We also had Tae announcing unplanned things like them going to Running Men together as well as this:

Which was brought upon by Tae and Jimin spontaneously singing Friends together with them finally singing the You Are My Soulmate line together, being cute AF while doing so, and making everyone cry in the process of it all. Earlier Tae also had Jimin sit down and sang him happy birthday along with ARMY as surprise. So cute!

How could these devastatingly cute smiles ever lie? Also the manager smiling at them, awww.

In the end, after their second super cute hug, with their arms still around each other, they sat down on the stage with their backs toward the audience so they could take a picture with ARMY to commemorate this day.

And just as Jimin was leaving the stage, Tae called out his name and shyly did a cute heart pose for him and got a heart back.

Generally there were just so many cute little moments that, after a year of comparatively barely any vmin, reaffirmed the fact that just because we don't see it, that doesn't mean it isn't there, as in, just because vmin don't constantly tell us about them hanging out or talking or doing something, that doesn't mean they don't still do that. Like that Jeju trip from which Tae posted pictures on his IG with Jimin and JK. If Tae didn't tell us, we wouldn't have ever known that this trip happened. Tae and Jimin were and still very much are soulmates, the vibe when they interact and look at each other so filled with mutual adoration and this soft spot they have for one another, and their bond is just as strong and beautiful as it was and will always be. As Tae said in the BTS book, Jimin is someone he can't live without and, from their TV appearance in 2021, Jimin is the person he likes the most.

But speaking of Tae liking Jimin the most and whatnot, I thought this anon message we got yesterday also fit in with this quite well:

For those of you who might've missed it, during his birthday live Jimin shared what looks like an AI piece of art depicting Jimin as elf in a fantasy setting. He said Tae was the one who showed it to him and it made him giggle so much! Later as part of his public birthday wishes to Jimin, Tae posted another piece of AI art of Jimin this time as hunter/warrior also in a fantasy setting. This makes this the second and third time we've heard and seen Tae spend time on Jimin fan art since the moon tattoo on Jimin's back was also inspired by a piece of Jimin fan art that Tae had sent to him saying how cool it looked.

There were also a few silly little theories about what if Tae made those fantasy AI Jimin's himself, since some time ago he'd asked about a program or something to do this, but if that's what happened, who knows, but the thought is very Tae.

So yeah, after a long time without vmin, today was a day that just kept on giving and I hope Tae and Jimin got to have that drink they mentioned they would get together after the fan meeting. What a day to be a vminnie, wow.

Lastly there was this twt that I very much agreed with so I thought I'd share, it said: the way taehyung is so overjoyed that jimin is here with him? if he was any more giddy in love i’m positive he would’ve kissed jimin there and then

But even he could feel the ever-present peer pressure, the expectation that he too should be like others in this regard. And of course Wei Ying had appointed himself head of the 'We need to get Lan Zhan a girlfriend' committee, which had not helped the situation in the slightest.

It was gonna be one point, but he just kept popping up, and even when I thought we'd get a break from him, NOPE he's back in the next scene 😮‍💨

And you know that those fans were happy, but I'm not one of those fans. Quite the opposite actually. So much so that it kept taking away from my enjoyment of the episode, and I enjoyed this episode quite a lot actually. So yeah, -2 points.

The Wilson's and the Buckley-Han's dressing like Wizard Of Oz characters 😍😍😍, the firehouse being a haunted house✨🤩✨, Bobby being a goofy CAP Dracula 😂🧛😂, Eddie being a Wolf Man that NO ONE was scared of 😂🐺😂, Buck realizing the "fake" dummy was actually a corpse and possibly traumatizing multiple children for life while ALSO getting cursed 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣, the very real drama of Karen being upset that Hen was missing out on parts of their kids growing up (that thankfully they were able to talk about in this episode instead of dragging it out) 🥺🥺🥺, Athena trying to be hip with the kids 😂😂😂, the two girls who weren't paying attention in the CARE class finally getting some sense knocked into them 👏👏👏

Also the incredible build up of Chim recognizing Jee-Yun when she ran over to him excited, seeing Mara with her, realizing they went trick or treating together with Karen and Denny, not seeing Karen OR Denny with them, to Hen noticing Karen is on the scene of the accident but doesn't look hurt, to freaking the fuck out when she realizes Denny is the one pinned by the car!!!! *Chef's Kiss* *Chef's Kiss* *Chef's Kiss* *Chef's Kiss* *Chef's Kiss*

(though I will say I don't like how the promo spoiled it being Denny. I mean the whole thing was still amazing don't get me wrong, but I feel like it would've hit harder if we didn't know beforehand and were making assumptions that would just so happen to be correct. But again, that's a promo thing not an episode thing)

Also finding out that Denny pushed Mara out of the way and saved her life 🥺💖🥺💖🥺💖🥺💖🥺💖🥺 And I even like how the show had Chim bring up the fact that you're not supposed to work on people who you're close with, ie Hen trying to save her son's life, and they gave us the excuse for why they were doing it with Bobby saying "You wanna be the one to pull her away from him?" That's 👏 How 👏 You 👏 Fucking 👏 Do 👏 It 👏

Ugh, this episode was so fucking good. I had so much fun watching it, and it felt like I hadn't had that much fun in a long time with this show. I can't really remember but I don't think we had any "fun" episodes last season. We've had episodes with fun moments, but no true "fun" episodes like the Ocean's 9-1-1 episode, or the Treasure Hunt episode, or the Karma episode (minus the cheating storyline), or the Jinx episode, so honestly this was a VERY welcome and pleasant surprise 💖💖💖

I was thinking about taking off at least a half point for the dad who got the pumpkin stuck on his head cause why not cut it off and why not fully empty it before putting it on, but decided not to cause they did end up cutting it off, and having the pumpkin guts falling around his neck might've been part of the thing he did with his kids, idk. So that gets a pass ✨

The only problem I had with this episode was Temu, and if that's it then it was a damn good episode. Can't wait to see what's next!!! See y'all next week 😘✌️✨

Wayne Family Trauma

I'm loving the current story line in Wayne Family Adventures and allowing the past trauma come out with small to big breakdowns with Duke, Jason, and Bruce and I'm hoping a couple lines and the promo pic of Barbara means we get one with her too. But there a couple of things I want to happen after. And when I say after I mean AFTER.

Look Tim became Robin going I'm gonna lift Batman up when he stayed in the darkness too much after Jason died. He became Robin to be the perfect Robin to allow Batman to become who Batman was suppose to be again. Tim, to me, is a high stress person. A person that works better under the stress. The thing is that those types of people can sometimes have a harder time when the pressure is released.

So I want sometime after Joker is back in jail and Duke and everyone is fully healed and everyone really thinks everyone is doing well for Dick to be lightly hurt at sometime when Dick, Bruce, and Tim are together and Bruce was turned talking to Tim at the moment. This can be in costume or not and when I say lightly hurt I mean it is practically nothing at all. The stakes could NOT be lower so Tim has no pressure on him to help him maintain himself. And I want Batman's words of if one of the others get hurt cause I was dealing with you then that will be on you to go through Tim's head then and him to have his own freak out breakdown. They get back to the manor (or were already there) and Dick reassures Tim it's okay nothing happened. Bruce ends up telling Dick that he can head home Bruce would like to talk to Tim alone. He has some things to that him and Tim need to have a one on one with that is long overdo. Dick agrees but asks to be let know if everything is okay after.

Bruce and Tim helps Tim calm down and they do talk it out and he does address how he went too far in his fear (to be clear I don't mean this as a I hate Bruce how could he but as a character flaw as people have). Bruce will also talk to Stephanie after this but if anyone has any fun ideas for her please share.

But you might be wondering why specifically Dick? This would work for any of them. Well that is because of the second mini breakdown I want. Dick is between the oldest child and Bruce's significantly younger enough brother that Bruce ended up raising after parents died so kind of acts as a bridge between the other kids and Bruce. He has had to step into Batman's shoes so he knows where Bruce is coming from but he has also made sure to remember how those choices made him feel. He plays the perfect big brother that is gonna make sure his siblings feel respected but are still protected and have all they need. Because one time he let the Joker get under his skin he killed the Joker and Tim had to push himself too hard to bring him back and that just ended up with Dick becoming another adult Tim had to worry about when he should not have had that on him(Tim). So I want Dick to get home to his empty apartment (cause if anyone was there then Dick would have something to do to be useful for someone) and have a mini freak out that he didn't keep track of his siblings enough to realize Tim needed help and instead became a point of stress.

And here one of the others could come for a surprise visit and see this and then we get another talk down reminding Dick he doesn't have to do stuff for everyone he just has to be himself (harkening back to an earlier issue) and he can also lean on them. He doesn't have to be the balancing act between them and Bruce and them and their feelings all the time. I personally want this one to be Jason or Jason and Barbara but others work too.

Can you tell us about the film Harry and Ringo’s Night Out? I don’t think it’s ever been released, and plot details seem scarce. Why was it shelved, what was it about, and how were your artworks to be incorporated with the live-action footage?

"If you look it up online, it’s described as being a documentary film about Harry and Ringo’s wild night life. It wasn’t.

Harry and Ringo had done a movie called Son of Dracula. They had so much fun, they thought they’d like to do another. I wrote a synopsis of a movie I thought would work with who these guys were and the rapport they had. To be honest, I don’t remember where the title came from. They liked the treatment and asked me to write a full script, which I did. They made some changes, I made some changes, they made some changes, and after a while, we had a script everybody liked.

Early on, they decided they wanted it to be a live action/animation movie. Let me say, right from the start, I was way in over my head. I had no film experience. But they had faith in me and that was enough to make me believe I could do it.

The story – the short version – involves Ringo and Harry being sucked into an alternate reality in a place called Rockland, populated by a bunch of famous rock stars. Music is dying and these two were on a mission to save it. When they entered Rockland they acquired sidekicks. Ringo’s was the cherub and Harry’s was a wisecracking crow. Harry did the voice of the cherub and Ringo did the voice of the crow.

I designed the characters and painted the backgrounds. We contracted a couple of animators, on the sly, who worked at Hanna-Barbera to do the animation. The live action was shot on a Paramount sound stage in front of a blue screen. I directed the live action.

The sky, throughout the full three minute pilot was speeded up live action cloud formations, which was very cool. When it was complete, Harry and I went to Warner Brothers after hours and he worked on a moviola, editing the piece together. Harry picked the sound track, and we had a film to shop.

It went to a few studios but there were no takers. A live action/animated movie would have been a major undertaking and an expensive one at that and no studio wanted to bankroll a film starring the Beatles drummer and a pop star that had never performed in public… and the project was dead. I think the finished pilot went to Harry. I still have most of the backgrounds, cells and live action with some bits and pieces.

It’s never been seen in public and never will. I think no one will see it because nobody cares. It was done and over. I’m only guessing it’s with Harry’s family. It also might be with Ringo or Michael Viner (who died in 2009) who funded it. Whoever has it, it has been over 40 years and that ship has sailed." (Artist Tim Bruckner, 2015)

My newest thoughts...

I've been doing some intense thinking while I've been away. While watching Jk's lastest live, everything got connected inside my brain.

So back on 7/7, I had some sort of epiphany while answering an ask and I came up with the following theory.

(I deleted the post because damn Dewunkim has gotten on my nerves and I saw her reblog it. So if anyone has this in their reblogs, could you all send it to me? Thaaanks!)

Anyway, this is what I remember thinking:

If Jikook is together, they were told to lay low because they don't want it to be known that Jk is gay. That would ruin his chance to become a superstar.

It wasn't for military enlistment purposes.

Jikook continues to be spotted in Korea but is not seen by international fans.

Jimin is queer but also Jk. Is it possible that the company retaliated because Jimin's album was queer coded and he has been queer coding his stuff since a while back?

I feel like the stuff that's been happening lately has been confirming my theory:

•Portrayal of Jk as a straight male in Seven mv.

Not much happening in that mv. Boring, tbh. No chemistry although I do think that Jk and Sohee are friends now but the romantic chemistry isn't there.

There is that also that disconnect where the more explicit lyrics dont match the mv.

"It's the way that we can ride" and it shows a spaghetti plate? I could have shown...other things.

The song has a funeral scene with Jk being funny in a coffin. Be for real.

With lyrics like that you could have a really sensual and sexual fun mv. Pillowtalk meets Butter. But we got a comedic mv instead.

So maybe Jk is has no problem singing sex songs and pronouns but he draws the line at physical contact?

And for the love of the gods, I can't possibly see a connection between this mv/song and Jimin. That's insulting to me.

A song about a straight guy singing to a girl is for Jimin? Not for me. Never. Don't insult jikook or Jimin like that. Not everything has to be connected.

•Jk's Weverse Interview

He states:

I saw sooo many jikookers saying that the company was imposing this image on Jk and poor Jk blah blah and a few days before his weverse interview, I told a friend "Maybe this is how he wants to be seen. As a het male."

And there is nothing wrong with that! He can be seen as straight cool sexy Jk. Let him be and stop making excuses for normal things.

But the main point to take from this is that he is on his way to being a superstar. Being boyffie to Jimin does not help so they had to hide that. Lay low.

Knowing what we know about Jimin and how private he is, I imagine he was totally on board with laying low for the eyes of international fans. He is also selfless to a fault and he would like to see Jk achieve his dreams. This I strongly believe.

And also, a real couple doesn't need an audience. They are not a spectacle. So laying low is a win win.

•Jk's weverse live on 21/7

Basically telling the fans that he will do as he pleases so get ready because he has grown.

He wants to be the superstar Jk and for people to recognize it. Being baby star candy will not get him the recognition.

I feel like Jk knows quite well of his popularity outside of Korea. Even if the stuff he releases is not liked in Korea, international fans will support it.

International fans need the provocative. They won't judge and scrutinize the way Korean fans do. In fact, he will be embraced and loved the more sex he sells.

He will up the fan service. Y/n rejoice!

And it's obvious that the main focus of his promo was not Korea.

The target is a western market where not being queer is more profitable. Where soft masculinity is laughed at.

He's letting the softies know. Take it as a warning, softies lol

People think that his tattoo doesn't fit with his words now but Jk has always been like this. He just wasn't vocal about it.

While his tattoo says that he rather be dead than cool, I feel Jk hasn't quite found himself yet and tries the things that he thinks will make him look cool while still remaining unbothered about being cool. But we know that's not true.

So for me, all of this also confirms that Jk knows exactly what he is doing. He knows how this looks and how this is playing out.

He knows about the business, even if he stated in his weverse interview that he leaves that to the pros. A guy thats been in this 10 years and he doesn't look into how his promo will play out? Not believable.

That sounded like damage control by the company to meeeeeee....

In terms of jikook: They seem to be fine. Jimin went to NY to support Jk but not Seven. He "forgot" his password. He was also letting the softies know that he won't post.

I cannot for the love of the gods come up with a theory on why Jk is ok with getting all this nice promo while Jimin got nothing.

The whole "he is doing it for both of them" doesn't really make sense to me. Maybe I'll get the answer to this in a dream or while answering a random post.

So obviously, the whole "they are laying low for military enlistment" never made sense to me. Who even came up with that?

And why are we repeating theories with absolutely nothing to back them up like the common taekooker?

Anyways, hope I made sense!

Part One l masterlist

Chan: If you’re going to drag me to a promo shoot on my day off, the least you can do is feed me.

Me: Straight through the gray doors and take a right. Snack table should be easy to spot. 

“That’s great, you two!” “Just move your arm closer to her- yes, that’s it!” 

This cameraman was going to drive me bananas. 

My poor co-star had been running late, like the true actor he was. He showed up very apologetic though, so it was hard to be upset when I had nothing else to do that day. So I chatted up the cameraman, which had been my first mistake. He was indeed a very chatty man, talking about nothing but his work and how he had done this huge magazine with idols left and right, how he’d had their phone numbers before they left. I almost scoffed. I had eight of them in my contact list and that was enough for me. They were annoying enough as it was. 

Now, my co-star and I were standing in front of a screen, meant to be in place of a rooftop and so close to kissing, yet not quite. His hands were around me, almost touching my shoulders to hold me close, my dress bunching up with how close he was indeed holding onto me. I thought I might fall over. 

Out of the corner of my eye, I glimpsed a door open and close and true to his text, Chris idled closer to the snack table until he found something he took. I fought from rolling my eyes. He stayed near the back and watched, staring not at me, but at the man holding me or trying to. His brows were close together in a permanent state of what seemed to be confusion and disgust. His lips were slightly pursed, further my assumption. 

After more flashes of the camera, the man behind it called for a short break to look over some of the shots and change lenses. I scurried over to Chan, who was still watching my co-star, even as I stood right in front of him. I looked back to make sure he wasn’t doing anything wild, but he wasn’t. He was just standing there, talking to his manager. I turned back to Chris and snapped my fingers in front of his face. He broke from his trance and looked me up and down, assessing what to make fun of first. 

“For a 90s show, the wardrobe is surprisingly modern.” 

“This dress actually came from a shop that sells these kinds of clothes, alright? I’m not complaining though. It's the most comfortable costume I’ve had. You remember those bunny costumes from that kids show, don’t you?” We both shuddered at the memory. Chris looked back over my shoulder. I rolled my eyes. “Oh, would you stop? He’s harmless. In fact, I think he has a wonderful boyfriend that you might know actually. I think he’s an idol.” 

“I don’t like how close he was to you.” He crossed his arm in front of him, like he was holding something in. I couldn’t help but laugh.

“It was a kissing scene, Chan. Come on, lighten up.”

“Why does he have to have his hands wrapped around you like that? It doesn’t look natural.”

“Oh yeah? How should he do it then?” My eyebrow rose on its own, challenging him. I didn’t think he’d actually do it, not with so many people around. But he stepped closer, brushing his arms underneath mine to guide them around his neck. My hands naturally drove through his hair to find it freshly washed, curling between my fingers. Breathing at all was difficult as he slid those muscled arms around me and for the very first time, I got to see what all of those fans were jealous of. An immediate feeling of comfort washed over me like it never had before. I felt safe when I was so close to him, breathing in his natural smell. It smelled like a memory coming to the surface after being lost for years. His hands on my back were like fire, seeping through my costume and straight to my insides and melting them. I felt every inch of where we were connected. He stepped even further into me, bringing his mouth closer to mine. 

“He should hold you like he’s scared to lose you. Like you are everything that could ever matter to him. He should look into your eyes and see everything he could ever want, standing right in front of him, within his grasp.” The words had a sort of other heaviness to them, like he was carefully weighing them to determine if they were accurate. Like they were the right ones he wanted to say, but sounding almost rehearsed at the same time. He had said these before somewhere. But the rawness was still fresh, honed like a sword. His voice got lower and lower and his mouth got closer and closer to mine, our breath mingling in the centimeters of space between us. I couldn't look at anything other than his lips, how full and soft they would feel on my mouth… my neck… my-

I had to know. So I closed the distance. And it was everything I thought it would be. For the five seconds I had been imagining it. But what I didn’t expect was for him to kiss me back. His hand moved to cradle my face as our lips moved in tandem, like they had been meant for each other all along. Like he’d been practicing for this moment in his own mind, biding his time, waiting for me to come around. 

When he broke us apart, he kept his arms around me, giving me room to breathe. He took a second to reel himself in, panting like he’d just run a marathon. 

“As much as I would like to do that again, and trust me, I would.” I pointedly looked him in the eyes. “I unfortunately have a shoot to get back to. And you have just made it very difficult to focus.” He let his arms fall, a smirk growing. 

“Then I should go so you can focus. Since I’m such a distraction for you.” I gave him a wary look, then shooed him away. “But we’ll talk? Later?” All amusement was now gone from him, hope shining brightly in those eyes.

“Definitely.”  

He nodded, giving me a signature grin and turned on his heel, grabbing an apple from the table of food and leaning his shoulder down to push the door into the hall. 

This is going to be fun. I smiled to myself, seeing my phone light up on the table behind me.

Chan: I’m getting something special for tonight so you’re coming over. 

Chan: I’m calling it our Day One date. :)

The way we saw how happy the cast was in the few personal.posts we got, I personally think it's safe to say the cast doesn't feel they lost out. Some of them have been in plays none of us even know about or would have bothered to book a flight all the way to London to watch.

Truth is, you had an expectation, it wasn't met and now there's pulling of all sort of things and reasons as to why, unsteady of maybe they just preferred it that way.

With Challengers there's a whole "there weren't any fun interviews. She should have done hot ones, chicken shop another puppy interview." So again another they had expectations and now they're going to go on and on and on about it, trying to find the why's, as apparently there's only one formula as to how promo should be done.

Back to R&J I think all the racists are the reason there was minimal press but I actually loved that Fran got a interview spread. Maybe everyone else also wasn't interested in being on magazine covers, people have a say in these things guys they dot just get bulldozed into doing it. Remember when TZ where expected to do a spread together for NWH and that didn't happen, we assume they said no because they can

I agree w/you too on the whole Fran and the racists thing. I'm kind of thinking that it might have played a role on why this play wasn't promoted as much as it could have been. 😔 It's a shame if that is the case. I hope maybe one day we will get to see some more bts footage, because I can only imagine how interesting it was to produce this play! 😊

Musings on Chibnall Sontarans

I've decided that it might be fun to try writing down some Doctor Who thoughts rather than just musing on them to myself. I freely admit that it's a tad rambling and I might diverge on the topic a bit but this is just me putting some thoughts down.

But the only way I'll ever get any better at writing posts like this is to write them.

Some thoughts on the Sontarans that I mused around.

I think that I prefer Chibnall's take on the Sontarans the most.

A recurring criticism that I saw of the Sontarans during Moffat's era was that they were being played for laughs too much. To be fair, the Sontarans don't really appear in force during much of his era. It's mainly just Strax, who is framed as a comedy Sontaran. It gets bit more complex when you see that when he first appeared there was a bit less of that comic tone, but after he joined Vastra and Jenny he was largely there to be the comic relief in the trio.

And when he briefly reverts back to his normal self in The Name of the Doctor it is effective, before he... gets disintegrated or erased, I'm never quite certain which.

But then you have scenes in The Time of the Doctor where the Sontarans don't seem to realise how an invisibility shield works and are there for a one-off joke.

The Sontarans don't really show up much under Peter Capaldi, Strax turning up in the first episode which is about it.

You may wonder why. Did they not fit Moffat's tone of more reflective and experimental takes with 12?

The boring answer for why the Sontarans didn't turn up much with 12 is... they just didn't. It's not really like the Daleks and to a slightly lesser extent the Cybermen, where it's sort of expected that each Doctor meets them.

The Sontarans were often seen as the third of the villain races in Doctor Who, behind the Daleks and Cybermen. But now they've been sort of eclipsed by the Weeping Angels. You can see that in how in The Time of the Doctor promo it had Daleks, Cybermen, Weeping Angels, Silents... something something joke about not remembering them. And that Hell Bent had in the catacombs a Dalek (that I headcanon was left over from The Apocalypse Element), a Cyberman and a Weeping Angel.

And likely Moffat didn't really feel that there was much more to do with the Paternoster Gang. I didn't object to them not turning up again in 12's era and I don't object now.

The Sontarans in Pond Life were a bit more traditional in that they're menacing, Pond Life being the piece Chris Chibnall wrote... which leads back to the original point.

The Sontarans in Flux are presented in a much less comical light. This is probably the most effective that they've been on-screen since... The Invasion of Time, where they came close to conquering Gallifrey. But in Flux they are shown massacring their way through 19th century British soldiers, having inserted themselves into history and conquered a large portion of the world. In the same ep they've easily conquered modern-day Earth. Then later that series they conquer Earth quickly again, having engineered a plan across decades with another alien to weaken Earth's defences.

I would say that you do see some of the flaws in Doctor Who: Flux from what I've said here, in that there are two invasions of modern-day Earth by the Sontarans this series, apparently un-connected, as it's not clear if the Grand Serpent helped in their War of the Sontarans invasion. I know that Flux was cobbled together in very difficult circumstances, and it does kind of show that the scripts have had to be forced a bit so they all sort of fit together, with the odd ending which seems to forget that most of the Universe was destroyed. I hope that we get something like a Writer's Tale one day or even adaptations of the original plans, like Big Finish has done for some Classic stories. Maybe novelisations? Anyway...

Along with invading Earth, the Sontarans trick the Daleks and the Cybermen, who they often play second fiddle to, into being destroyed by the Flux and come very close to becoming the main power of the Universe.

Though the Sontarans have often been seen as rather comical thugs, with full-on attacks we do see that they can be cunning. Flux does make them worthy of their status as one of the Universe's top warrior races.

Now I don't think that the Sontarans need to be too serious. You can still play them for laughs in their belligerent nature. Their whole Imperialism is always subject to mockery. The Time Warrior starts with Commander Linx annexing the Earth. You get touches of that throughout. Commander Skaak tells the Doctor that they are invading during the Crimea War as they wanted to ride a horse... That image of a Sontaran on a horse is brilliant. And of course, a Sontaran getting addicted to chocolate.

I kind of like some more attention being drawn to the alien biology of Sontarans, with details like them easily getting a sweet tooth and the detail about them having trouble on Earth so needing to refuel every 27 hours. You might argue that this is the sort of weakness that would have been brought up earlier, that it would have worked as a weakness for another alien race, and that the Sontarans already have that probic vent weakness. Yes. But DW being in new stuff after decades is... meh, it happens. Though it's odd that Svild still goes through this sleep when he doesn't have access to the ship. Maybe he has supplies?

A scene which feels symbolic of the move to more brutal Sontarans over the bumbling Strax happens in War of the Sontarans. Svild feels more Strax-like, even while he is imprisoned boasting about defeating human scum. When he goes back to the Sontaran base he is told by his superior that he is a disgrace and killed.

I would hardly say that this is a personal attack on Moffat's way of doing the Sontarans. The mentality of presuming that different writers are attacking each other like they are rival politicians I find to be very reductive and needlessly provocative. It does feel though like a reminder that Strax and the way he acts is not typical of the Sontarans. It's as if Strax is being killed but it's not Strax, as to kill Strax here would be a bit much.

There is also a much nastier feel to the Sontarans. We are used to Strax talking about killing human scum and off-screen he apparently killed numerous horses, but we don't see him doing that. We know that it's his usual boistering. But the Sontarans in Flux do show that it's not just talk.

In their first scene in The Halloween Apocalypse a Sontaran tells another how disgusting they look, a meaner kind of humour. The Sontarans seem to revel in how nasty they are. They mockingly tell human captives to keep their last words to themselves before killing them. They even massacre all the Lupari save for Karvanista (that is done a bit quickly I agree). They trick the Daleks and the Cybermen into a trap.

I have noticed that Chibnall seems to prefer writing nastier villains, which you see with Solomon (it counts as he wrote the episode), Tzim-Sha, the Reconnaissance Dalek, the Spy Master, Ashad, Tecteun, Swarm... this deserves it's own essay. All I'll say here is that the world is showing so many real-life monsters it doesn't seem too implausible to depict characters revelling in their evil.

It is worth noting, as I am fond of doing, that there is a sort of Russian element to the Sontarans. In a way they seem a metaphor for the likes of Putin. After all, they take the place of Russia in a changed timeline. Then resorting to a long-scale infiltration of Earth's defences, including defunding UNIT, obviously alludes to Brexit and the weakening of British defences. Probably why the Master and the other top villains of the Whoniverse assemble around Russia in The Power of the Doctor... but that's another story. That needs its' own essay too.

And their leader rides a horse.

The Sontarans are opportunists here, not planning the Flux but certainly taking advantage of it. What the Flux is... well, it can be interpreted in various ways. It could just be a general worry of complete annihilation. The main villains in this series, the Ravagers, are basically Gods of Nihilism, believing in simply the destruction of everything and seeing it as a duty to bring about inevitability. Kind of like the Anti-Logopolitans... or an Anti-Monitor, if you're going DC comics. And that story had the villains taking advantage of the trouble to try taking control of the remaining Earths...

Unfortunately, some of the dialogue does lean into unfortunate territory. "If the Flux is destroying the universe, if planets and stars are being wiped out, there will be displaced creatures who need a home. Somewhere to take over." It does sound like it is leaning towards the great replacement, the scaremongering that people like Douglas Murray snarl about, of how European culture will be replaced. I don't think that was the intent, aliens whose planet has been destroyed invading Earth is very standard sci-fi, from War of the Worlds to a lot of Doctor Who. It's probably just unfortunate phrasing. Reminds me of Lawrence Miles going at Mark Gatiss over The Unquiet Dead having aliens pretending to be vulnerable then invading in force. Could that be argued as more problematic? I won't debate that here. The other showrunners have done their show of problematic stuff and comments but that doesn't really make it any better and if I go on about this then it looks like I'm excusing it.

Of course, if we're talking about Doctor Who writers going great replacement that's probably more Gareth Roberts, considering he writes in Douglas Murray's shitshow The Spectator now. And Strax was based on a concept he had... but moving on as he's a sore spot for many Doctor Who fans because of how clearly he rejects the mentality of the show.

It did occur to me that if the Sontarans were travelling back in time to invade human history in a big sweeping universe-threatening adventure which involves multiple Doctors, that sort of makes Flux the closest thing to a live-action adaptation of Doctor Who Legacy, a fun little game which ran from 2013-2019, as Tiny Rebel did not want to renew the license with the BBC. I suppose that Chibnall gets the blame for that as seeing the complaints over the lack of Christmas specials has demonstrated to me that lots of people don't seem to entirely understand how much power the showrunner has.

Moving back... maybe even the design of the Sontarans seems to hark back to their earlier nature. As opposed to the sleeker, more realistic look of the Sontarans from The Sontaran Stratagem onwards, these Sontarans are more Classic in design. The blue armour and smooth skin is replaced by the black armour and rocky look of the Classic series. From what I've seen (but that's my circle so not sure how representative it is) a lot of fans actually prefer this design.

"I don't know that I'm a huge fan of the new Sontaran design - Commander Skaak kept reminding me of George C. Scott - but I do like that it was a deliberate nod back to the initial Sontaran mask as designed for 'The Time Warrior,' with the hairs and pock marked skin. Kevin Lindsay, the actor who played Linx in that story and who received a shout out in this episode's script, suffered from heart trouble, and that initial mask caused him a lot of breathing problems. So much so that when they brought the supposed 'clone' of Linx back the following season they'd had to re-make the mask for the sake of his health, and they used that opportunity to clean up the look a lot, removing the hairs and giving the skin a much smoother complexion. They even have a Sontaran in The Halloween Apocalypse stick his tongue out!

Helloooo. I’m very new to the Kiara fandom, being that I just watched OBX for the first time a few days ago. I’m here after reading bad habit and you actually wrote that *before* S3. I read a comment that someone left and you replied that you just got it (the comment) a few hours before the S3 premiere, then I thought WHAT WAS YOUR REACTION TO S3?!?!? Could you believe your eyes? A riara scene literally taken out of Fifty shades of gray. That whole plot could be a romance book or a fic I SWEAR.

The kidnapping trope, one bed trope, enemies locked up inside a very fancy bedroom (the sexual tension out of the roof) the red dress???? And Rafe super handsome with the suit???? Do you remember when you watched that? How was the fandom at that time???!?!?!

YES LOL I THINK I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT COMMENT YOURE TALKING ABOUT! It was with @riaraa I believe (you should check out her work bc she writes riara too, and phenomenally might I add!)🩷🩷 It’s funny because I originally found out that we were even getting scenes because a reader commented on my fic saying “hey btw this a spoiler but maddie and drew are filming rn, together. alone.” The fandom was hilarious at that time, we all collectively thought it’d be kook year flashbacks (despite him having a buzzcut LMAOO)

Hahaha this ask makes me feel like we went through some sort of historic moment— and we did, canon riara scenes that weren’t 2 seconds long!! REJOICE! The riara fandom was livvvingg when season 3 premiered, we got ALL the tropes and people were madddd asf. I had so many people in my ask howling at me like I was in the writer room forcing the Pates’ hand to make this happen. Anyway, the funniest reception to those scenes were casual watchers of the show being like “…wait…is there something going on between…Kiara and Rafe?” and the “guys… what if… just WALK WITH ME HERE…what if they had a thing during her kook year” and I was like yes 🤗 come to the dark side 🥰 it was near impossible to not become a shipper with all the tropes and tension they put between the two! Not to mention Maddie and Drew have such palpable chemistry and they were able to showcase that. I remember that Maddie and Drew ended up doing a lot of the promo for the show together too (also think that was partly due to Rudy not wanting to do promo? I imagine they would’ve wanted to pair the two romantic leads in promotions but I digress) which was great for us. A lot of the promo was shot pre season 3 release so I think that informed a lot of what they said during the interviews, there’s just one I’m thinking of in particular where Drew and Maddie say stuff about how Riara would be weird— I wonder if they’d change their tune knowing how the audience reacted to their scenes. It seemed like the were preemptively squashing anything to make sure people didn’t come for them.

It was a beautiful time in the fandom, personally I’m still riding off the high of having such an insane arc for those two characters 🫂

My other dead dove is actually loosely inspired by season 3! It’s focuses more on the Rafe side of the story and what he probably gets up to with a loooottt of creative liberties 🫣
