Just finished the Yi-City arc on Untamed and listen. I loved Xue Yang when I came in here and I still love him as he leaves (ish? I haven’t finished the series yet). I am firmly on the XueXiao train in the most effed up way (yes, it’s abuse and cruel and bad but sometimes I like messy things (see also: Loki)). I also need the Xiao/Song side story of their whole relationship and to scream about LWJ’s face when he realized how easily something like that could have been him/WWX.

Look, I understand that the Yi City arc in The Untamed is “narratively messy” and “confusing” and “doesn’t really fit with the storyline of the rest of the show” but listen, I love it so there. 

And yeah, Xue Yang/Xiao Xingchen as a pairing was really. That came for me hard. Didn’t see it coming but should’ve. It’s just so messy and painful and I have! yeah a whole lot of feelings. like. emotional feelings. about it.

yeah let’s not get into that right now, it might come up when I get there in my third watch just depending on how much self control I feel like exercising

I am...I feel ashame but I’m less invested in the Song Lan/Xiao Xingchen side of things - I think it just doesn’t hit as many of my narrative buttons. (It’s not that I only ship things that’re hopelessly fucked up, but. I mean. It’s like 80% of my fandom shipping experience. It’s the crunch.)

But I do have feelings about the narrative parallels. I mean, so many narrative parallels in The Untamed in general, I keep noticing more of them and they all drive me nuts. 

I also keep thinking about the ways in which while the Song Lan/Xiao Xingchen dynamic has that echo of parallelism - it’s actually, I think, Xue Yang who is Wei Wuxian’s (extremely) dark mirror.

Sylvie’s words echo in Loki’s head. Loki knows he should go back to the OB variant’s timeline. He knows that was the next chapter in his story. And yet, well, Loki has always been selfish to his very core. One more footnote to his story couldn’t hurt. Could it?

With all the time in the world and with time running short, Loki seeks comfort in a dive bar in Cleveland. After all, he lies to everyone else. Loki can lie to himself too, just for one night.

(Or: Loki detours his journey so he can get to know Mobius’ variant, Don, a little more intimately.)

Hi. I am STILL thinking about “Artificial”. Please consider this a green light to talk about anything verse-wise you’d like, pretty please?

Hi, my dear. I’ve been thinking about this ask since you’ve sent it. Artificial and I... have had a complicated relationship the past couple months, both because of personal and creative reasons. I just made some big changes to the outline and I think I’ll be happy with them (I feel unblocked writing the story, which is a good first sign). But... it’s a big risk, in the end, and we’ll see how it goes. I hope by the time they’re relevant, I’ll have convinced the readers as well.

The universe is just... so big in my head. I almost always have to cut paragraphs or sections of lore exposition out of the chapters, because I want to shoehorn it in, but it doesn’t really serve any purpose in moving the story forward. FFXV translates very well to a sci-fi/cyberpunk universe.

What I’m most excited about right now? Ignis coming clean about all the secrets he’s hiding. I’m pretty sure a lot of readers have guessed right now, or have speculation, but to actually have it out there and get to explore Gladio (and possibly other chocobro’s) reactions to it... super motivating.

A bit of trivia about all the Artificial bros:Gladio: has visited all planets in Starsystem Eos (if you count quick drop off missions with the Kingsglaive Spec Ops)Noctis: was once engaged to be married, prior to the missionIgnis: has been a feature of the Lucis Caelum household since he was 12, an Operative since he was 16Prompto: ... Prompto will be explaining a lot about himself soon, but all of his tattoos have sentimental meaning
