I was watching Nimona (2023) the other day and my partner came in my room, looked over my shoulder and asked “oh is this a Disney movie?” then he saw Ballister and Ambrosius kiss and said “oh nvm”

In like 10 or 5 years I want a sequel for Tom. Like a genuine sequel from the movie, from where he's older and MJ grew up not remembering him. Where he's alone but still striving to be a good Spider-man, maybe in the sequel when Tom's older people get their memories back. Dunno, I just want an older Spiderman and with the way they ended Tom's last movie it'd be a cool theme if they waited a few years to redo one. Of course they won't because Disney is a selfish corporate that cares more about money than good movies, but it's a dream.

every superhero deserves their own “logan” I think. the career definer. the tear jerker. the real actual good movie that it not just good on superhero standards but is really actually good actually.

miffy is the peak of character design design i swear... the large forehead and far apart eyes are neonatal facial features and the rounded shapes are so bouba (as in kiki and bouba) and the little cross mouth allows you to project your emotions onto the character, plus she has such a recognisable sillhouette.. her colour is plain but can be changed easily without having to erase or work around many existing elements... wow. simplicity, versatility, and distinct traits that are easily recognisable in small or large scales... design perfection.

You know what? I have more to say.

Replacing the island of fun and debauchery with a literal fascist military camp was a stroke of pure GENIOUS.

In all the other versions - the lesson is "Don't do fun things! Never do fun things! Work! Learn! If you do anything a normal proper citizen wouldn't do, you'll become a DONKEY. Not just a donkey! A donkey slave! You can't even cry out to mama anymore- hope the 'root beer' was worth it!"

It also never made any sense how this island even worked. I have yet to see a version explain that heap of witchcraft.

Del Torro taught us that to be a good person, you must follow your heart- not blindly follow orders. Elders DON'T always know best. It's okay to question things! It's okay to disobey! Just make sure you're doing it for the right reasons!

I've ALWAYS hated the story of Pinocchio.

Yes, the story is about a puppet not understanding right from wrong - and so does the wrong thing and earns consequences from those actions.

But it always resulted in such an unlikable character.

Then Del Torro comes around and makes the best version literally ever. Everything is perfect.

He didn't join the circus because he was a little twat. He joined because, in the town where people resented him, he found a place where he was 'loved' and 'accepted.'

And for once! Geppetto is written to be an actual human being! Not some pure-hearted old man incapable of any other emotion than love. Del Torro's Geppetto is flawed. He's human. He's in pain. His love for Pinocchio is genuine. He doesn't love the puppet because tHaT's ThE RiGhT thInG tO dO - but because he actually loves him.

And then we have a hammy unrepentant villain who makes us laugh and a pretty solid antagonist who is a source of trauma and teach us to value our lifes and it's so glorious.

So this is probably a coincidence since the movie was stuck in production for 10 years, but I do think it's funny that after Disney realise like what, 4 movies about dealing with intergenerational trauma, which resulted in people on the internet falling apart from all of the saddnest, DreamWorks shows up and give us a movie with two, not one, two found family, both with their own story arc, and is so fucking beautiful. I mean, found family is pretty much DreamWorks stable at this point, I can name only a few DW movies where platonic relationship isn't really important, but Puss in Boots is a special treat. Not only are both families important to a plot, but we also we get twice as many fluffy scenes that makes our hearts melt. This movie is a seventh nugget in six nuggets box. I can imagine someone at DreamWorks headquarter looking at internet having a break down and thinking "well, somebody has to pick up a piecies. It's us apparently."

Tokyo Disneyland's really going out of their way to spread the absolute, objective truth about the one and only Donald Duck.

Donald is the best at what he does, and what he does is the best. Everyone is here celebrating the Duck of the year!

Even though it rained almost the entire day I visited, the adoration for this number one duck would brighten anyone's day.

So thank you, Donald Duck, for 90 years of being you.

Rebloging because I love comparing Czech Cinderella to Disney's

Enough with the woke remakes of old Disney classics where every princess is a raging girlboss and a feminist. We don't need it. Are they aware that other versions of those princesses already exist? Take the East German/Czechoslovak version of Cinderella. There Cinderella is a sassy badass who actually stands up for herself and shoots a crossbow better than the prince without it being obnoxious or too in your face with *the message*. And guess what in the end, despite being a strong female character, she marries her prince and lives happily ever after, because love doesn't make a woman weak.

There is also a Norwegian Cinderella and German versions of all the old Grimm fairy tales (including Snow White), and I bet many more. So why do we need a new Disney version that is "updated for modern audiences"? No one asked for it and I bet no one needs it. Enough with the remakes.
