Disney Descendants AU - Prince Azim of Agrabah, Son of Sultan Jasmine and Consort Aladdin

Agrabah has always been a protector of magic, often placing well versed magic users into its court for their expertise and wisdom. Agrabah has often found itself on the outskirts of Auradon, not only because of its geographic location, but due to its religion and policies. However, after the reign of Jafar, Agrabah has hesitant to let in any of his descendants back into Auradon, and this has found them stuck between both side of the Proposal debate.

Prince Azim and his twin Amira are in a race to earn the throne of Agrabah, and as such this has created a rift between the two once close siblings. Since their parents are yet to declare the next in line, a rift has formed, and they have since become insanely competitive. However, Azim has often been called, lazy, dismissive and complacent. He is a natural talent both in academics and in physical training, though he cares more about his looks and his reputation more than anything else. His arrogant attitude often puts him on the wrong side of many of his peers, and as such he has struggled to form relationships within the high court of Auradon.

However, with the Proposal brings some interesting new people, some of which he begins forming hard and fast alliances with. However, he wasn't expecting to fall in love with the same man as Amira...

My friends showed me the Descendants movie for the first time, and I am very clearly not the target audience for this franchise and that's fine lol.

But for fun, I wanted to do this redesign if I were tasked with imagining the Descendants characters. I personally don't dig the modern setting, so I would've leaned towards a fantasy aesthetic closer to something like The School for Good and Evil.

I knew I wanted Mal to have her mother's (and father's) unnatural complexion, and yellow eyes from both. I also wanted to give another small nod to Hades with the blue flame (if she were to use ger spellbook, the magic from it would manifest in blue flames). I gave her little purple baby horns that would turn black as she got older. I also put hints of red in her outfit, which I wanted to be her main color (especially for her coronation look at the end of the story) later on instead of just purple and black like Maleficent, to reflect her slowly coming into her own. Overall, my goal was to push her look to be a lot more witchy and supernatural looking.

I'll likely redesign the other villain kids as well. Let me know if you'd like to see them too!

Just realized: Rise of Red is maybe funny a little for its connection to the first three films for one reason:

Maleficent says to Mal back in D1, "When I was your age, I was cursing entire kingdoms." But cut to ROR and...she wasn't even doing that lmao, she was playing lacky to Uliana and got frozen by a book.

According to the Book Disney Descendants: Up Close! Mal was born in 1999.

She was 6 years old when she wasn’t invited to Evie’s 6th Birthday Party, which took place 10 years after all the villains were banished to the Island. Which places it in 2005. (Isle of The Lost Novel)

That means that That Auradon was created in 1995.

It also means that Rise of Red takes place in 2025.

Here's an addition to the previous Mal redesign I posted, just with an extra outfit. This is my take on her coronation dress at the end of the story, fully embracing the red palette that was previously creeping in, now that she's standing in her individuality, away from and opposing her mother.

I wanted her coronation look to have a mix of princess and lightness in there, but not take away the witchiness and villain aesthetic from her. I also gave her a small cape to reflect her hero moment at that point in the story.
