thinking about a bunch of different fantasy media and realizing there's nothing funnier than "we do not know what is beyond <insert landmark here>, it is unexplored" for a setting inspired by like. the 1300s
sorry, the people in your setting have the advantage of magic and they STILL can't manage to cross an ocean/mountain range/desert/etc.?
fucking embarrassing. are you sure they win in the end? they sound too weak to succeed against whatever antagonist you set up
#like i was thinking about this last night getting irritated but after a sleep i realized it is genuinely very funny#like so much fantasy is analogous to time periods where people were crossing continents for trade like???#you gave them magic and a bunch of advantages and they still can't manage what trade caravans were doing in the 1st century??? really??#'''the desert is too hard to cross!!''' huh someone better let a shitton of nomadic tribes across the world know#'''the sea is difficult and treacherous!!!''' wow wonder how the pacific islanders or the vikings managed it then#of course none of these people ever open up a history book they just try to cheat off tolkien or another tolkien derivative so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

A short more educational post for y'all!

Pisces/Neptune rules marketing while Gemini/Mercury is more about sales. They’re both deeply related but difference is Gemini is the salesman that appeals to your reason and resorts to mind games (Mercury) in a one-on-one to convince you why you should buy into something. Marketing on the other hand is ruled by Pisces because it appeals to the collective unconscious (Neptune). It’s all about crafting subliminal messages that make you see that product/idea as more appealing even when you know what you're seeing is not realistic. Very related to propaganda as well. This is also a field that requires a lot of creativity, they're constantly using metaphors, hyperboles or even making up little fictional stories to sell a product...
I've already said this but for anyone new, the planet that rules real love is moon not Venus. See the full explanation here
Where Sagittarius is in your chart will bring luck and happiness, but Taurus does give off expansive (or dare I say expensive) energy too. Where Taurus sits in your chart is an area of your life that will be more grandiose in nature cause Taurus rules over indulgence and pleasure. You could experience some sort of privilege when it comes to this house, the themes of this house come to you in abundance with little to no effort. Some examples:
Taurus 1st house: have a striking and bold appearance, gives off luxury and attractive vibes regardless of their looks. These people could come across as a "high value woman/man" without trying
Taurus 7th house: very active and abundant love life, lots of suitors and business partners landing on your lab, they want to provide for you and/or give you lucrative opportunities
Taurus 9th house: having access to high quality education or elevated knowledge. Probably attended a very exclusive or expensive collage, payed vacations vibes, easy and frequent relocations
Taurus 10th house: almost untouchable reputation, very respected and liked by others, is always seen as innocent or harmless, lots of success with their ventures
The 2nd house also talks about your roots and upbringing but in a more objective and material sense. This house and the position of its ruler can be very telling of how your actual social and economic context shaped your basic values. It can also talk about your house as the 2nd house rules over real state, lands, properties, etc. The 4th house is more about your home, how you were raised within that reality and how it impacted you emotionally at your core
Example: Libra risings could come from an environment that shaped their values around survival and money gains due to Scorpio 2nd house (I've seen very commonly they come from marginalized groups or humble beginnings or very financially competitive environments). So they have a family that is very demanding and expected them to work or be a boss from a young age (Capricorn 4th house)
Speaking of, 2nd house does not ONLY rule money!!! It rules RESOURCES and anything that you own that is highly valuable and you can put a price on!!!! And yes of course since these things are valuable they can be easily monetized, traded, used to make you money. This can be your skills, assets, real state, etc. The 2nd house is your piggy bank basically
There's a lot of talk about how 11th house is how you make money in your career while 2nd house is how you spend it. Well this is technically true but I'd like to add more explanation to this. In derivative astrology 11th house is 2nd (money) from the 10th (career) so it does show how you actually make money from your career. 2nd house is where you get money but 11th house is how you make money. Your 11th house is the multiplier (credits to @cosmicpuzzle for that fact) while 2nd house is where your financial stability lies on. In other words 11th house is indicative of how you generate more but 2nd house is all about what you already have, its about what you can make with what you OWN already, it deals with money that is already available through your resources' value (again, you piggy bank). This does 'make' you money in a way like if you lose your job and are lacking money your 2nd house where you turn to for example if you own a house you can rent it, you can buy a rare item that costs a lot, selling your art or any other natural skill, etc. The concept of value is important in this house bc it can increase or decrease (while 11th house increases and multiplies). The more valuable your resources are the more potential money you have available which means more financial stability and wealth. Anyways hope all that makes sense
We often refer to water signs when talking spirituality but truth is fire signs are very spiritual in nature as well. Fire symbolizes the spark of life itself, nothing could exist or be created without it. Aries deals with the basic ontological conception of 'I am, I exist', Leo is about how the self manifests and create itself and Sagittarius is about the purpose of the self. Living beings need heat to thrive/live and just like fire radiates heat your spirit radiates energy, creativity, passion, action, inspiration, purpose... and that's what fire signs represent. I'd say fire represents the fundamentality of spirit while water is more about the complexity of inner world.
Just like Aries is the "natural" ASC for a birth chart, Libra is the natural ASC for a composite chart cause a birth chart represents the chart of an individual (Aries) while composite represents the mutual relationship between two people (Libra)
When you develop the themes of a certain house in a healthy manner, you naturally start attracting the themes of the opposite house. This goes to show you that things in astrology aren't as compartmentalized as they seem, everything works together in certain way SPECIALLY axis'. Examples:
You need to focus on yourself first (1st house) to find the right partner (7th house)
You need to investigate and learn (3rd house) in order to find higher answers (9th house)
When you invest successfully (8th house) you earn more available resources (2nd house).
When you develop your hobbies and individuality (5th house) you find keen people (11th house)
When you heal spiritually (12th house) you find healthier habits (6th house)
There's this misconception that you have to disregard your South Node in order to develop you NN, but the thing is the SN is the starting point that can lead you towards developing your NN. This can happen as a harsh and painful lesson tho if you liger too much on your SN. For example NN in Libra need to learn to compromise in this life, there's a lot of focus on the self and independence, but eventually this placement teaches them that if you really wanna develop yourself in full potential (Aries) eventually you'll need others (Libra). If they linger too much on Aries SN they could experience a harsh lesson that forces them to count on others

Found throughout European folklore, a changeling is a substitute left when a human child has been kidnapped by a supernatural being, commonly a fairy. However, nothing is said of when a child willingly goes to the world of fairies.
-------------
Timmy Turner is an average kid that no one understands… who lives in Dimmadelphia instead of Dimmsdale. This leaves him without the support network of AJ and Chester but with a teacher and a babysitter just as bad as Crocker and Vicky, as well as parents whose actions aren’t played for laughs like on the show.
Chloe Carmichael (who’s here both because Timmy deserves a sister and because I CAN FIX HER DAMMIT) has the opposite problem. Stuck in the shadow of her absentee activist parents, every ounce of her self-esteem is derived from helping others, which has resulted in her becoming consumed by toxic perfectionism. She’s constantly held up as an ideal child by adults who see her as nothing more than a pawn, alienating her from her peers. She may look like a little miss perfect, but in reality she’s completely alone.
Enter Cosmo and Wanda. Unlike canon, each fairy is assigned a specific godkid regardless of marital status. Meaning that Wanda is assigned as Timmy’s fairy godmother to give him the structure he needs while Cosmo becomes Chloe’s fairy godfather and helps her learn to accept making mistakes. Due to living in the same city and having fairy godparents who are a married couple, Timmy and Chloe quickly become friends. And then they find out that, after they grow up, they’ll never see Cosmo and Wanda again and won’t even have the memory to mourn their loss. So they do what any pair of broken, desperate children with the ability to make anything they wish for come true do - they wish that Cosmo and Wanda were their parents.
This wish has the unforeseen effect of making them changelings, children in a transitory state between human and fairy. Of course, the fact that fairy godparents go to miserable kids means that Timmy and Chloe aren’t the only ones that have wished for their fairies to become their parents. There’s also Remy (because of course the kid used to getting everything he wants would jump at ensuring he’ll never lose the only person who ever gave a damn about him), Molly and Dwight (the two kids who got sent to the Wishing Well with Timmy in the show), and maaaaybe a reworked version of Winston (Jorgen’s godkid in the Oh Yeah! era).
Now, the kids are enrolled in Abra Prepdabra’s designated but not always used Changeling Class in order to learn how to control their developing powers while also finding out just what trading the normal world for the magical world entails.
I could go on, but I'm gonna leave it here for now. I'm calling this the "Changeling Effect AU".
#the fairly oddparents#changeling effect au#fop au#timmy turner#chloe carmichael#wanda fairywinkle cosma#cosmo cosma#remy buxaplenty#molly fop#dwight fop#me: a new wish sounds great! I loved the original series when I was a kid I should rewatch it for old times' sake#also me: comes up with 2 entire fop fics and only bothers to watch 1 episode

A great many ships move through the Auric Range, trade flowing up through the Sierra Madre Line and out through the Santanna Blinkgate. Thus, an increased presence of Trunk Security and its subfirms. Of these subfirms the Boudreaux & Thibodeaux Concern handles design and production for mechanized chassis in what are termed “High-Threat Corporate Entanglements”. This is all preamble of course, to introduce what many in the Range consider IPS-N’s finest security force multiplier- The Bonney. The Bonney is what IPS-N terms a “High Kinetic Fire Support Platform” created by the hyperkinesis module integrated into the “nervous system” of the mech’s frame and the pilot’s spinal uplink. Doses of the synthetic nano-adrenaline released in microbursts throughout combat allow both mech and pilot to move faster and shoot better than anyone else on the battlefield. And to the mercenary forces of Ladon’s Corpse and Furthest West there simply isn’t better than an experienced Bonney pilot to turn any mission around.
Bonney, within the Auric Range, is seen as a veteran’s frame. This is not to say that IPS-N, through B&TC, will not sell the mech to any hotshot who comes through Santanna with Manna to burn (and in the Range, those men outnumber the veterans), they absolutely will. But the popular public consensus of the Bonney is derived from the screamsheets and newspicts that flow back to the Sisters from the dozens of conflict zones that decorate the Range- media that depicts the Bonney and her pilots as hard bitten mercenaries with the strange affect of someone used to a life that starts and stops on command. The critics say this is a side-effect of long-term “Chronos” exposure. The pilots say that’s just what it takes to survive beyond the grasp of the Sisters.

How to Fix a Broken Supreme Court
The Supreme Court is off the rails — and it’s only going to get worse unless we fight to reform it.
Trust levels and job approval ratings for the Court have hit historic lows due in large part to a growing number of ethics scandals.
Here are THREE key reforms Congress should enact to restore legitimacy to our nation’s highest court:
1) Establish a code of ethics
Every other federal judge has to sign on to a code of ethics — except for Supreme Court justices.
This makes no sense. Judges on the highest Court should be held to the highest ethical standards.
Congress should impose a code of ethics on Supreme Court justices. At the very least, any ethical code should ban justices from receiving personal gifts from political donors and anyone with business before the Court, clarify when justices with conflicts of interest should remove themselves from cases, prohibit justices from trading individual stocks, and establish a formal process for investigating misconduct.
2) Enact term limits
Article III of the Constitution says judges may “hold their office during good behavior,” but it does not explicitly give Supreme Court Justices lifetime tenure on the highest court — even though that’s become the norm.
Term limits would prevent unelected justices from accumulating too much power over the course of their tenure — and would help defuse what has become an increasingly divisive confirmation process.
Congress should limit Supreme Court terms to 18-years, after which justices move to lower courts.
3) Expand the Court
The Constitution does not limit the Supreme Court to nine justices. In fact, Congress has changed the size of the Court seven times. It should do so again in order to remedy the extreme imbalance of today’s Supreme Court.
Now some may decry this as “radical court packing.” That’s pure rubbish. The real court-packing occurred when Senate Republicans refused to even consider a Democratic nominee to the Supreme Court on the fake pretext that it was too close to the 2016 election, but then confirmed a Republican nominee just days before the 2020 election.
Rather than allow Republicans to continue exploiting the system, expanding the Supreme Court would actually UN-pack the court. This isn’t radical. It’s essential.
Now, I won’t sugar-coat this. Making these reforms happen won’t be easy. We’re up against big monied interests who will fight to keep their control of our nation’s most important Court.
But these key reforms have significant support from the American people, who have lost trust in the court.
The Supreme Court derives its strength not from the use of force or political power, but from the trust of the people. With neither the sword nor the purse, trust is all it has.

Topaz and Aventurine emulating Jade
Jade has influenced both Aventurine and Topaz during her time with them to some degree, molding them as they worked their way up to being Stonehearts. Ultimately, they both have taken different aspects of her while maintaining their own stance towards the different situations they face. In a sense, they have gain a few things from her, but also seems to be trying to work higher to eventually emulate her in the end.
First, I’ll start with Aventurine. Jade’s influence on Aventurine hasn’t been as much as most people think. From the start when Jade was discussing with Aventurine on what the IPC should do with him (after letting himself get captured by them), he openly seems to challenge her in eventually striving further than her. Just like his usual mantra, “high-risk, high-reward” was always his mentality and this scene helps further the idea.
He already took a risk of allowing himself to be caught by the IPC to try and gain an audience with Diamond, and he takes another by openly being daring and even sarcastic towards Jade. Of course, this doesn’t deter or stop Jade from ultimately investing in him to join the IPC and continuing to interact with him as we see her in his character stories. After all, he has high potential for gains and benefits that she was willing to work with for her own benefit and the IPC’s.
Aventurine most likely learned how to handle business or conduct himself from his time with his previous master or even during his time as a child rather than from Jade. This is shown already through the way he spoke to his previous master and acted as a child. However, most of these behaviors he already exhibited were only further enhanced or encouraged by Jade. As a result, Aventurine as he is now is a mixture of things he grew with. For example, some of his fashion is a mixture of Jade’s fashion, but also from his previous master. He dresses himself up with extravagance as a means to show off his power and wealth, something his previous master does and is shown with the way Aventurine purposely wears his rings and watch much like the master he killed. As for Jade’s influence, his style of clothing such as the hat and sunglasses to help hide distinctive features most likely derived from her.
He also already had grown to have a silver tongue, talking his way through situations and trying to make deals like he did with his previous master or as a child to the Katicans. This was only further strengthened from his time around Jade. Aventurine essentially took what he needed from Jade in order to help progress further in his endeavors, such as helping himself to continue building the skills he already has. He also has no problems exploiting opportunities that arises for his benefit, making sure his gambles succeed in the end. He is highly meticulous, ensuring that things work in his favor or will adapt to the situation and keeping an eye on others to see if he could utilize them for his plans.
Despite his risky plans and behavior, he seems more keen on playing fairly and winning his deals without force as he is opposed to how Opal would have handled Penacony. He also has this discussion with his future self, refusing to cheat his way to winning as it takes out the thrill of risk. Ultimately, Aventurine is still a strategist and is not above of exploiting others in his plans to increase his success rate but will not use unfair methods to guarantee a win. After all, in his line of work, to use or be used is merely just the tools of the trade for him.
For Topaz, the influence of Jade is an interesting subtle mixture compared to Aventurine’s outright daring nature to immediately challenge the older Stoneheart in striving to be better. Topaz was recommended to Jade by her previous mentor, Dvorski, to have Jade look out for her. Even without Dvorski’s recommendation, Topaz seemed to have gained Jade’s eyes on her due to her fast pace on jumping the ranks. As a result, she seemed to have fallen under a mentorship of sorts with the older Stoneheart.
To some degree, it looks like she is following Jade without question when learning. But in reality, there is a lot of extremely subtle distancing/avoiding Topaz has when around Jade (which I talk about in prior threads/posts). Topaz seems to be far more compliant and meek compared to how she had handled herself in other situations (eg. Jarilo VI and Wardance), making it seem rather off-putting in how she behaves to Jade as she seems unwilling to talk more than needed at times. Comparing to her behavior towards Dvorski and Jade, she does keep this professionalism between the two and merely extracts knowledge she believes will help her (added: this also goes against how casual she tends to act towards Dvorski and also her dislike towards formality/etiquette as shown in her character story). Knowing that she is aware of the possible result of defiance towards the lady shown through her multiple warnings to others regarding Jade, she chooses to be cooperative to receive full benefits that she can get. Truly a “low-risk, high-reward” solution.
At the same time, the influence is still there but also strikes differently in having Topaz continue down her opposition due to her difference in mindset on her intentions in business. Topaz seems to mirror some of Jade’s methods and thinking for efficiency when handling business. Although Topaz is far more merciful and considerate in conducting her projects, she is not opposed to using the negotiation methods Jade has taught her. On top of that, she also has a mentality of “there is no room for error” in her work, something Jade later says towards her in Penacony.
However, despite this line of thinking, Topaz is far more open in her perspective as she’s more than willing to hear out and seek other solutions if possible. Even though her work may not seem to be the most efficient solution, forcing her to work harder to find an equilibrium between all parties, Topaz continues to use this ideology in how she handles business and even confidently justify her ways through her experience. Topaz is more than willing to hear out and learn from multiple sources, allowing her arsenal of tools and means to grow in order to handle multiple situations. Jade’s teachings only are added in to Topaz’s toolkit where she proceeds to utilize it according to what she deems is necessary or the best solution. She will always be prepared with plans in order to invest and play the long game for victory.
Ultimately, Aventurine merely continues to enhance his skills much like Topaz only continues to expand her means under the IPC. For Aventurine, he continues to add his own "fairness" to his dealings. Instead of forcing a guaranteed win, he continues to work and strategize towards increasing his odds on his own and playing around others. For Topaz, she continues to add her own "kindness" to her dealings. She would always take other’s needs, wants, and possible motives into careful consideration to choose the best plan possible. Both are willing to seek and gain knowledge to further their goals and actions, twisting it to fit their mindsets and beliefs while still accomplishing their goals. They both continue to stubbornly cling to their ways (Aventurine with Fairness, Topaz with Kindness) to work their way up the ranks despite the challenges. Even though they could be more efficient or gain more if they followed Jade’s way, they continue to prove themselves as they finish the job by sticking to their own ways.

I have been seeing a bunch of buzz recently online about a possible "decline in value" of the ivy league+ degree - Nate Silver didn't start it but he certainly accelerated it. And while there is nothing robust you do see things like surveys of hiring manager opinions out there to suggest its possible, its not a crazy idea even if its far from proven. So assuming its real, why would it be happening?
1: This discourse is obviously happening because of the recent protests at top US schools - essentially its the idea that elite students are hyperpolitical, coddled, and out of touch with reality. This causal path should be very, very silly. The vast, vast majority of students at Columbia are not protesting. They don't really care about this topic! Sure, if asked, they agree Israel Bad Right Now, but otherwise they are busy with finals and job apps. This is of course equally true at most other schools, its just not a mass movement in that way (protesting to be clear rarely is). This is a specific instance of the general trap of selection bias - the visible students aren't the median ones.
Stacked on top of that is the second level of selection bias - the median protestor is not a business major or engineer! They are exactly the kind of students for whom being a politically engaged activist is *good* for their career, not bad, or at least neutral. Schools produce a large diversity of career outcomes, and those students self-select on how they spend their time, there is no "median" student to observe really.
And ofc all of this has to rest on the foundational reality that people are products of their context - jobless 20 year old's surrounded by young peers protest a bunch, that is what that context produces. The large majority of them will become mortgage-paying white collar workers by the time they are 30, this identity will not stick with them. If they become political activists it will, sure! But if you are the hiring manager for Palantir this isn't going to be the trend for your hires. There are "politically liable" hires out there but you aren't going to predict them via the sorting algorithm of "was at Columbia in 2024", that is for sure.
Now, as much as this is a silly idea, humanity are zeitgeist creatures - I can't actually reject the idea that, despite it being silly, hiring managers might use this moment to feel like they are "over" the Ivy League and start dismantling the privileged place their applications currently get. Cultural tipping points are vibes-based, and amoung elites (unlike the masses, who don't care much) Israel/Palestine has an awful lot of tense vibes.
2: Still, I don't think this is explaining those survey results people are throwing around, and I don't think its explained (very much at least) by the general "woke uni" trends of the past half decade. It is instead downstream of wider trends.
There was a time where companies really did want "the smart guy". You could major in English at Harvard, write a good thesis on Yeats, and be off to the trading desk in Chambers St two weeks after graduation. Those days are over - for complex reasons we won't get into - and nowadays people expect their new hires to be as close to experts in the field as they can manage. Students have internships, consulting clubs, capstone projects with real clients, specialized sub majors, the works. These are all ways of saying "signaling quality" has gotten more legible and more specific over time. Why would I choose a Harvard English major over a University of Illinois finance major who did a research internship with our specific Chicago firm on midwest agricultural derivates markets? Students like that exist by the bucketful now, and the Ivys cannot monopolize them. Partially because they choose not to; Columbia could actually say fuck it and make its school 90% finance majors, but they don't want that, they specifically recruit intellectually diverse students. Which means State School finance types will fill the remaining slots slots.
The other reason they can't monopolize is much simpler - numbers. The US has way more "elite" jobs today than it did in the past. Programmers and their adjacencies are the biggest growth sector, but everything from doctors to analysts to lawyers is all up up up. And do you know what isn't up? Undergraduate enrollment at elite schools! Columbia's has grown by like 10% over the past 20 years; Harvard's is essentially unchanged. For, again, reasons, these schools have found the idea of doubling or tripling their undergraduate enrollment, despite ballooning applications, impossible. Which means of course Microsoft can't hire from Stanford alone. So they don't, and they have learned what other schools deliver talent, and no longer need Stanford alone. The decline of Ivy Power is in this sense mathematical - if a signal of quality refuses to grow to meet demand, of course other signals will emerge.
I therefore personally think, while minor, the Ivy+ schools are experiencing declining status, have been for a while, and will continue to do so (though there are offsetting trends not mentioned here btw). But its structural way more than cultural.

HOW TO INVEST IN STOCK MARKET?
People these days want more than one stream of income, so for that stock market investment is the best way out to bring new inflow of money in life. There are certain approaches one must follow to get into stock market, otherwise this may also give you huge losses.
Earning profits will be easy when you know the right strategies in stock market in different segments. Learn best option strategies practically with ICFM
Your vision and benchmark profit should also be defined before entering the market, where you can set a limit for profit and loss too and also how much is the capacity to invest.
Now, the important factor is to pick correct stocks and shares where you can invest and earn. There are numerous methods of stock picking that investors and analyst apply. But they are also the modification of the basic buying strategies of investing.
Related: ICFM is the best Institute for stock market in Delhi.
Following are the 2 useful strategies for investing:
Growth investing- investors look for those companies which are having high growth potential, hoping to realize the maximum benefit from appreciation of price in the long term purpose. As the investors seeking out the growth so he is less concerned about the dividend income and more willing to risk investing in new companies showing high potential to grow.
Value investing- here, investors invest in blue chip companies who are well established and shown slow and steady returns over the period of time and get benefit of regular dividend income also. Investors are more focused in steady income through avoiding risk as compared to growth investing. And strategy helps in buying the stocks when it falls and selling after a certain increase in price and their intrinsic worth realized by the market.
A Mixture of Value and Growth
If anyone is planning for long term approach of investing, a mixture of both the strategies will give a great benefit to the trader. Behind this, there are certainly good enough reasons to back these stock investment strategies.
Because of the dependency on the seasons, value stocks typically performs well in the market during the good times but also have a risk of falling down if the bull market sustained for the longer period of time.
On the other hand, growth stocks work phenomenal when interest rates drop in the market and due to this their earnings goes up. When there is a last stage going in the bull trend then also these growth stocks continue to rise.
So due to mixture of both, investor enjoys higher returns on his investment while reducing the substantial amount of risk. Suppose any uncertainty happened in the market and an investor has both the growth stocks and value stocks, so he can generate optimal earning and fluctuations won’t wipe out the real investments and returns will be more likely to balance out in your favor over time.
Conclusion
Every investor should build up their own strategy to stand in the stock market and which suits their needs and wants. One can go for growth or value or both, any dedicated strategy will give great results when you are consistent upon it. You can change the strategy during the course of your life as the financial situations changes or goal shift.

Hausaland
Hausaland, sometimes referred to as the Hausa Kingdoms, was a group of small independent city-states in northern central Africa between the Niger River and Lake Chad which flourished from the 15th to 18th century CE. The origins of the Hausa are not known, but one hypothesis suggests they were a group of indigenous peoples joined by a common language - Hausa - while another theory explains their presence as a consequence of a migration of peoples from the southern Sahara Desert. The cities prospered thanks to local and interregional trade in such commodities as salt, precious metals, leather goods, and slaves. Islam was adopted by many of the rulers and elite of the city-states in the 14th and 15th century CE but was also one of the reasons for their loss of independence when the Muslim Fulani leader Usman dan Fodio (r. 1803-1815 CE) launched a holy war and conquered the region in the early 19th century CE.
Geography & Origins
The name Hausaland derives from the Hausa term Kasar hausa, meaning the 'country of the Hausa language', although the area also included other peoples such as the Tuareg, Fulbe, and Zabarma. The term 'Hausa' was in use only from the 16th century CE as the people called themselves according to which specific city-state or kingdom they belonged to.
Hausaland was located in the Sahel region between the Niger River and Lake Chad in north-central Africa in what is today northern Nigeria. The Sahel is the semi-arid strip of land running across Africa between the Sahara Desert in the north and the Savannah grassland to the south. Hausland, specifically, stretched from the Air mountains (north) to the Jos plateau (south) and from Borno (east) to the Niger Valley (west). This region saw the development of towns by the Hausa-speaking people from 1000 to 1300 CE.
The exact origins of the Hausa cities are not known, but theories include a migration of peoples from the southern Sahara who, abandoning their own lands following the increased desiccation of that area, established new settlements in what would become known as Hausaland. An alternative theory suggests that the Hausa people originally lived on the western shore of Lake Chad and when the lake shrank (as a consequence of the same climatic changes that affected the Sahara) they occupied this new and fertile land and then eventually spread to the immediate north and west. There is as yet, unfortunately, no archaeological evidence to support either of these two theories. As a consequence, there is a third hypothesis, which is that the Hausa had not migrated from anywhere but were indigenous to the region. Support for this theory lies in the fact that there is no tradition of migration in Hausa oral history.
There is, though, a foundation legend, known as the Bayajida or Daura legend, although this probably dates to the 16th century CE and reflects the increased influence of Islam in the region at that time. According to this tradition, Bayajida, a prince from Baghdad, arrived at the court of the ruler of the Kingdom of Kanem (or the Bornu Empire as it became by the 16th century CE). Receiving an unfavourable reception, Bayajida headed eastwards until he came upon the city of Daura. There, the queen and her kingdom were being terrorized by a great snake. Bayajida stepped in and killed the troublesome serpent and promptly married the queen. Together they had a son called Bawogari who then went on to have six sons of his own, each of which became the king of a Hausa city-state. Meanwhile, Bayajida had another son, this time with one of his concubines. This illegitimate son, called Karbogari, had seven sons, and these went on to rule seven other Hausa cities. This story neatly explains how the various cities were established but not, of course, just where Daura and its queen came from.

R. not following N. is very telling. This is his friend's fav. co-worker of 5 years, to say the least. They are all actors, where networking is key.
He is obviously jealous of N.
On their friendship (or more) maybe on her success but most importantly on the influence she has on him. She is lifting him up to a level above R's.
He can not handle this. Hence he is setting L up w girls he chooses for him, like A.
All speculation of course 😉 derived from some life experience of male group dinamics.
Another, less possible option : if N rejected L earlier for whatever reason, R setting up L and A would be a good friend taking care of him. But then, why not follow N. earlier?
First one is more likely the case here .
Thanks for the place and the nice mediation. 🤗
Idk if I would say R is jealous of N but it def could be possible.
Get ready for a lot of personal opinion and speculation:
I think more than anything R is probably jealous of L.
That's why he keeps him close and led him around last summer.
I think R knows he would lose L if anything started between L and N.
N would be someone who would bring L up higher. His current friend group is stagnant. L in a lot of ways is their crutch.
I do believe N "rejected" L last year and R swooped in.
They both traded in their gf's in for younger ones and lived it up on vacation doing fuck all. That was R's chance to create a chasm of sorts.
Fuck boy summer gave us a new L and not for the better.
I think this press tour N started to chip away at the BS persona he has created and bring back the real L.
However, if all he has to fall back on is R, S and A we are only going to get more of the same BS from L.
