Why the manga Mairimashita! Iruma-kun is a masterpiece, part # (idk at this point)

Spoilers for the latest M!IK chapter (332) under the cut ♡

Okay, I was loving this art-focused arc already, as someone who after... several years (hi I'm old)... decided to learn illustration for good. But unholy shit I wasn't expecting an actual storytelling lesson from Nishi-sensei!!! I'm specifically referring to these two pages:

..........do you see what Nishi did????? See, I always found the characters in M!IK to be exceptionally alive, as if they had independent lives outside the pages we can read. Basically all named characters are consistent and three-dimentional, even if they appeared for a couple of chapters at most. And there are LOTS of them, I tried to compile a spreadsheet for personal use and we are well beyond 100 at this point (I'm not done yet). This is most likely Nishi's writing method. It fits: "when it comes to terror designing characters, what's important is the foundation. When, where, from whom, and from what was that terror were that character's motivations born? Without that, art doesn't live". See all the crumbs of information Nishi left along the chapters, in text or drawings, or in the Q&As. M!IK's characters are alive, like the Bowing Palome. Clearly this is not new when it comes to storytelling in general, and to manga specifically. As an example, there's a whole chapter dedicated to character design in Hirohiko Araki's Manga in Theory and Practice, The Craft of Creating Manga (most recommended read btw), that goes over the data to collect even before drawing a character. I imagine that's among a mangaka's best practices. But that's the point, Nishi actually follows the rules of the Golden Way*, and created a work which is nearly perfect from any point of view: the four fundamentals (characters, story, setting, and themes), and even rhythm, art, comedy... I'm in awe. I know I sound like a smitten fan, and I am at this point, but seriously, this manga is qualitatively great, and it's a pity it's so underrated. *The set of rules/tips Araki compiled, which if followed would lead to a manga being successful, according to him. I guess there are other sources as well out there, like illustration schools? But this what I can tell you, as an outsider :D

I met my youngerself for coffee today.

I showed up 30 minutes early, and she was already there, picking at her nails.

I ordered for both of us, drinks and desserts even though she tried to insist she was fine with water.

I let her hold Boggy. She couldn't meet my eyes when she told me she was rejected from Hudol this week.

Her eyes sparkled when I told her about our friends. She was eager to wear my jacket- I didn't comment on how frail she looked in it.

She complained about her dad. I told her that he's not a problem anymore and that our sister likes us now. She couldn't believe I was happy about that.

Before she left, I made sure to tell her how to make a proper fist. I won't see her again, but I know she'll do alright.

I met my younger self for coffee today.

I waited around the corner and after he ordered his drink I pulled around with the hangman. He immediately challenged me to a fight, and of course I won.

He noticed the eyepatch, but when he realised whose it was, he didnt ask how I got it. We had an arm wrestling match while we waited for our food. The hangman started crying over seeing the younger me, I had to remind him to chill.

Little me asked of our triumphs and I told him we're regularly slaying dragons, demons and getting our kisses in.

Before he leaves I warn him to take cardio more seriously. He stares in horror as I tell him about Chungle Down Bim.

"HE WANTS TO SHIT IN MY MOUTH"

"WELL YOU BESTED HIM RIGHT???"

"NO, HE'S STILL HUNTING US"

I was supposed to meet up with my younger self for coffee today.

I showed up 30 minutes early, to scope the place out. I chose the best table and strummed a few notes on my guitar while I waited for her to show up. I was going to tell her about Ayda so we can find her sooner. I'll also tell her to trust her hunch about creep teachers.

She showed up 15 minutes later. Hair curled and dressed in her favorite outfit. She brought a backpack with her, she doesn't want to run late to cheer practice after.

Her horns still haven't grown in.

She still only has 1 dad and she hasn't kissed older men- trying to feel any kind of love.

She doesn't look like her mother's mistakes yet.

I don't call her over. She doesn't recognize me and waits, tapping her foot with excitment.

I leave without waiting to see her dissapointment. She wouldn't understand my happiness.

She can stay oblivious a little while longer.

Other ramblings:

Kristen avoiding topics of family, mostly just nodding along to her younger self ramble praise for Sol. Her younger self notices her staff is different and Kristen casually drops that they're creating Gods now. Advising herself to get better shoes, maybe start doing some basic coordination excersises- her younger self clearly doesnt listen.

Alternate quip to young kristen noticing the different staff.

"But like... why though? I'm Sol's choosen prophet and I'm questioning him?"

"That's not the only thing you're going to question"

Riz meeting with his younger self, just as exhausted but a little more reckless. They both order an unholy concotion of caffine overload. Young Riz is still mourning the loss of his father, and Riz has to kill the urge to tell him everything. He drops a few hints, maybe his younger self can find the secret room faster. Young riz asks if the business cards work, Riz is glad to report they did, and they've even got the honor of being a shrimp king and The Ball.

(Apologies for the awkwardness) I remember a AU with the Wildcards that I was curious about your take on it. From what I remember, it’s been awhile, this AU is a type of Velvet Room AU. Where the Wildcards are meant to replace the servants of Philemon who resided in the room, including Igor, Nameless, Belladonna, and Demon Painter. I cannot remember who they placed with who I think Yu was Igor. (I admit I don’t know much about Persona before Persona 4 and some of Persona 3, so I didn’t know who the others were, only Igor) I was curious on your take if you don’t mind.

I know the AU you're talking about!

Strap in, bois, this is going to get long.

First, we need to establish who's replacing who. Newsona is easy: just swap the assistant with the guest. Bada-bim, bada-bam. It was Oldsona that caused some trouble. Also, do I want Igor to go first because of seniority or go in order of the swapped story that makes the most sense for him? In the end, I went for this order:

Igor -> Aigis (only it was moved first in this AU)

Demon Painter -> Naoya

Nameless -> Tatsuya

Belladonna -> Maya

Elizabeth/Theodore -> Minato/Kotone

Margaret -> Yu

Lavenza -> Akira

Maybe there's a Jose and Akechi swap? Or maybe with Morgana? Not sure about that one yet. The thing about Nameless and Belladonna is that they don't share much about themselves, but since they're a package deal, I swapped them with the other package deal here.

I could have swapped Phil with someone but he's an important Jenga piece that I can't move. If I did, it would be one of three: Tamaki, Tatsuya or Jun (maybe an AU where Phil and Nyarly swap with Tatsuya and Jun? But today is for the assistants only). For now, let's stick to only the main protags.

Also, to have some extra fun imagine that instead of Frankenstein-inspired names the attendants now have Dracula-inspired names. Y'know, cause they were changed into something else for the sake of this AU. For the sake of simplicity I'm going to keep calling them by their normal, Japanese names, tho.

Igor & Aigis

I don't even have to create an arc here. They're both man(?)-made beings created to serve a specific purpose who have questioned their humanity. Even Igor made a reference to it! Maybe this AU would feature Igor's creator more, and though Phil is the one who gave him life, we cannot forget about the theory that it was Dr. Victor who created him. Not the Frankenstein book version, the SMT version whose immortal. I'm going with that.

Igor's arc would replace Tamaki's adventure in SMT: if..., which would give me an excuse to add Dr. Victor in the first place. And what would you know? Aigis has a Plume of Dusk, which gives her a deeper connection with the CU and would allow Phil to teach her the deep primordial magicks or whatever it is he uses.

As I mentioned before, the "human or machine" arc is mostly the same, only less friendship and more Lovecraftian. It has to be to be this early in the timeline.

Demon Painter & Naoya

Just imagine the Demon Painter has a proper human name, ok?

I believe Kazuma Kaneko's stand-in deserves to become the First Proper Persona Protag in this AU. The funny thing about him is that, unlike the other attendants, he's 100% human. He just wanted to paint the Arcana! And after that he leaves! So Naoya gets to stay as a human too.

In this AU the Demon Painter left Sumaru for Mikage-cho to try to escape an artist's block. There, he became Maki's art tutor, being willing to teach her even while she's in the hospital. He's very dedicated to his craft. The Demon Painter would be in the hospital when the earthquake strikes, running into the St. Hermelin kids who'd gone to check on Maki, and the plot would start.

Maybe Naoya would incorporate some arcade dynamics during the copying of the cards? Imagine getting into the Velvet Room and there's a guy playing Street Fighters in the corner, lol. He leaves after getting the perfect score.

Nameless & Tatsuya / Belladonna & Maya

I'm putting this two together.

I know its redundant, but I have no way of fitting Nameless and Belladonna into the plot unless they were Lisa, Michel and Jun's teachers. Belladonna can play mom, that's fine.

Attendant!Tatsuya doesn't have an arm here. It was replaced by a golden version Hand of Midas style. In turn, Nyarlathotep's brand covers Nameless eyes, affecting his perception instead of his actions.

Belladonna would go through trial after trial of people and higher beings trying to silence her for some prophecy. Maybe Maya's pep talks could translate as inspiring poems in the Velvet Room? Maybe??? Tatsuya still plays the guitar, though not an electric one.

I almost forgot to mention, but the Demon Painter, Nameless and Belladonna would have different Arcanas than Naoya, Tatsuya and Maya. I would need to write their arcs to figure out what they would be since they have so little personality, but they would definitely be different.

Elizabeth/Theodore & Minato/Kotone

Now that Aigis is the Igor stand-in, she can play favorites with her attendants and allow Minato AND Kotone to get away with anything. That's right. This AU means they get to exist at the same time. Hooray!

Bad news, Elizabeth/Theodore is an orphan. Igor would also return, having been recruited by the Kirijo Group due to his knowledge of the supernatural. Now that I think about it, Elizabeth/Theodore would have been teenagers when the Moonlight Bridge Incident happened, so they would remember more of it. Maybe that would explain Elizabeth's weirdness and Theodore's more meek personality in this AU. Hard to be normal when you remember having something-that-feels-dead inside you.

And yes, this means Igor fought Ryoji. It was a less physical and more magical fight.

Margaret & Yu

Margaret looks adult-age. She would have moved to Inaba out of her own volition. Here, she's Dojima's estranged sister. Think of it like the city-girl protagonist of a Hallmark movie, only instead of a small town lover and the miracle of Christmas she finds some gay kids and a murder mystery. These things happen. She is now the mom-friend who sometimes doubles as the wine-aunt.

At least Yu gets to ride the limo full-time.

Lavenza & Akira

Lavenza's story would steer more towards child rebellion. All about the helplesness of children about the injustices around them. Actually, kind of like Matilda.

I'm loosing steam and can't think about how Akira would be split in this AU by Yaldy, so we'll leave it here.

Careen Ingle, a director on the show, stated that people can have kids via a stork bringing them pieces that look like them. They build the kid with those pieces. I’m not sure if this happens in just the Unikingdom and Frowntown, or everywhere.

Unikingdom Naming Customs:

Animals in the Unikingdom are typically named after their being/what they are.

Lego brick creatures usually aren’t, like Richard, Beau and Kickflip.

Not everyone follows these customs.

Some people’s names are silly made-up words, like Bim-Bom or Stocko.

Some names can be a mix of what someone is and a proper name. Unikitty named a bug Abugail.

They don’t use surnames in the Unikingdom.

Areas in the kingdom are named after what they are. For example, Flowery Park is, as the name suggests, a flowery park.

Unikingdom Architecture:

Everything is, quote-unquote, “cute”

Everything is brightly colored and utilizes all the colors of the rainbow

Fountains?

Bouncy castles are legitimately buildings

Towers, either with pointy roofs (like Marques towers) or with round balls at the top

Decorative pennants and banners everywhere

Decorative lights and tassels

Flags

Unikitty’s castle is her, but way bigger

The mouth of her castle is a fountain

The tail is a greenhouse with a garden inside

The horn is a tower; there are crates full of stuff in it

There are secret passages in it (Are these in other buildings as well?)

The mouth fountain spills into the moat, which has a rainbow bridge going over it.

But there is another road to the castle that leads into its garage (where the gang’s vehicles are stored)

Buildings, furniture, and appliances can look like anything

They can also be constructed out of anything

Bunnies live in carrot houses

Crabs all live in a giant sand palace

Beds and homes can also be influenced by what type of animal someone is

Batty (a vampire bat) lives in a house that looks like a cave and sleeps hanging upside down on her ceiling

Hawkodile sleeps in a nest in his treehouse. His nest is never seen in his treehouse except for when he wakes up in one episode, so it’s implied he puts it away like a futon during the day.

In another episode, he wakes up with him and a pillow attached to a punching bag

Ball pits and silly slides

Circular/round windows

Lots of geometric shapes as well

Roller coaster tracks behind Unikitty’s castle

Spherical floating buildings behind her castle? We never saw what’s inside them

By the way, Eagleator destroyed the dojo. It’s shown that it’s still destroyed to this day, and Eagleator camps out in the rubble now. But aren’t you supposed to treat a dojo with respect? (Did Eagleator kill Sensei Falcomodo?)

I don’t think the Unikingdom is trying to represent any real countries or cultures, but it seems to mostly be inspired by Japanese and Western culture

Action Forest is based on gritty action movies from the 80s

Forts?

Stony lairs (such as Flamurtle’s lair)

Torches

Buildings, such as the castle, have secret passages

Tubes with sparkles passing through them

These tubes can also be seen inside people’s brains. Is that where their sparkle matter comes from?

Trash is discarded in trash cans and dumpsters

There are many playgrounds with swingsets, slides, monkey bars, sand pits, seesaws, and springy rocking horses (or rocking animals, or foods. The gang was playing at a sushi-themed playground during recess in Kitty Court, which they treat like a school recess.)

Unikingdom Symbolism:

Silhouettes of Unikitty’s head are very prominent

I spotted flags that had a silhouette of her head. Are either of them supposed to be the Unikingdom’s national flag?

Are there other unicorn-cats?

Are there any unicorns?

Clouds (Some are rainclouds)

Rainbows

Suns?

Moons?

Hearts?

Stars?

Sparkles?

Sparkle Matter?

Cool sunglasses are “an action hero’s highest honor” in the Unikingdom

Their official bread- a cat-shaped bread roll with cream and a strawberry on top

Their official fish- a wide-eyed orange fish with a beak

Their official bird- A green, parakeet-looking bird

Their official scary man who lives in the sewer- Yes, this is a thing they have. He’s green, and he wears brown rags.

Their official song- Official Song. It just goes, “OFFICIAL SONG! Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah!” (That’s all there is to it; it has no real tune)

Their official candy- The gang tried to pick one. They brought their favorite candies to life and had an entire Pokémon-style battle with them. In the end, though, they decided that you should just like the candy you have. So, I’ll just say their official candy is whatever candy you like. There’s a lot of candy in the Unikingdom anyway.

Demographics of the Unikingdom

The Unikingdom is populated by anthropomorphic animals

Like I asked, are there unicorns anywhere?

Some of them are animal-based hybrids

Monsters such as the giant jelly creature and krakens

Lego brick creatures

Living stuffed toys

Anthropomorphic foods (like Burger Person, Cookie Guy, and Herbert Sherbert)

Anthropomorphic objects (like Toaster and the kite people)

Living clouds in the sky

Self-aware robots (and rockets)

Crabs and bunnies have their own societies within Unikingdom society, but both are considered part of the Unikingdom. The crabs also have a “pinch dungeon.”

Aliens?? (Hominid is an alien who travels around in its UFO)

These creatures produce sparkle matter, which is sparkly stuff that pops out of someone’s head when they experience strong emotions.

Unikitty can also change color and burn/flood things with her emotions. I imagined that this is a thing unicorns have.

There are no humans/Lego minifigures in this world. Except for Hank, who appears once and only once in the PLOT Device episodes. He's not even a minifigure- he's a cartoony human. Kyle is his sock puppet.

Who ARE Hank and Kyle? They, to quote Dr. Fox in their one and only appearance, “haven’t been on the team since their funeral.” So they’re ghosts?

And Batman exists?! Batkitty is the ONLY episode of the whole show that ties back into the Lego Movie, and he’s the only character from it that appears in the show. We don’t see him any other time, so I don’t even know if it’s canon

Geography of the Unikingdom:

The Unikingdom is situated on rolling green hills

The weather is usually very sunny (“Unikingdom- burning hot!”), so it looks like it has a warm climate

It’s prone to extreme weather, such as tornadoes, thunderstorms and typhoons

Action Forest is a lush jungle area; it’s confirmed to be part of the Unikingdom

Like I said, the Unikingdom isn’t meant to be based on a real place, but appears to have both Western and Japanese influences

Rocky cliffs

Fir forests

Caves

Dinosaur bones are underground!

Walkways made of towers and bridges are built around the cliffs and forests

There are much shorter bridges with no towers, too

Ravines? Some places in the Unikingdom are separated by said bridges (Three citizens tell Unikitty that the bridge to their town is out)

The Unikingdom is also next to an ocean

Tall coastal rock formations

It’s confirmed to be in the north of this planet

It makes sense because they get snow in the winter, and the Unigang can get to the North Pole in a short time

Volcanoes (which can come to life if they’re angry enough)

Some place with ice cream snow? That’s where Mrs. Ice Pop’s factory is

Flora and Fauna of the Unikingdom:

There are non-anthropomorphic animals in this world

There are gardens in people’s front and back yards

They don’t acknowledge the fact that Puppycorn is a prince, though.

There is no social hierarchy to speak of, but this society is matriarchal. In Election Day, Richard says that according to the law, the Unikingdom has to be ruled by a princess.

Not a queen- a princess. That specific title.

Between this and The Lego Movie, Unikitty's always fallen into the "princess who holds all power over a territory, which would make her a queen, but she isn't because princesses are cuter, less evil-sounding, and thought to appeal more to young girls" trope.

Maybe that law is why Puppycorn is never viewed as a prince by any citizens

However, it seems like the current princess can just pass down the ruling position to a relative of another gender if she feels like it. Unikitty decided to let Puppycorn be the ruling prince for a short time in Little Prince Puppycorn. So does this mean there are exceptions to the law?

To note- Little Prince Puppycorn came before Election Day. This show regularly messes with its own continuity. Some things might contradict what was established in earlier episodes. Other episodes might reference or flash back to earlier ones.

Can the princess be elected? I think not, because Master Frown, who is not from the Unikingdom, suggested there be a princess election. But then, the Unikingdom citizens just went along with it

There are no armies/defense forces to be seen.

Hawkodile seems to be the bodyguard of both Unikitty and the kingdom as a whole. He lives in a treehouse behind the castle. Pretty much all the defense is handled by him, and he’s, to quote Cast Aside the Truth, “the toughest bodyguard alive.”

The kingdom can also be defended by giant kaiju-like mechas

Unfortunately, though, there are cops… such as the Action Police and Science Police… Detective Dan literally mentions a Unikingdom Police Department, and there are buddy cop movies…

It’s implied that firefighters exist here, too

Action heroes/fighters require action licenses. It works like getting a driver’s license; they get it at the Department of Mayhem and Violence (DMV).

Did Sensei Falcomodo not know this before giving Hawkodile his shades? Did Unikitty and co. not know this before (presumably) hiring him?

License to Punch (the one in which Hawkodile needs to get an action license) came before Action Forest (the one where he explains his past in the dojo). Just another example of retconning in the show

Unikitty is also assisted by her resident scientist, Dr. Fox, who lives in the castle and has her own high-tech lab right under it

Dr. Fox seems to be the one handling the kingdom’s technology. For example, she built the security system at the zoo. Also, her smarts and inventions help solve problems in the kingdom

Occasionally, she dabbles in medical stuff, even though she’s not licensed to practice it

Unikitty and Puppycorn also drive cars, parade floats, and bulldozers, despite not having driver’s licenses, or so much as a learner’s permit

The Action Police’s job is to punish those who don’t have action licenses. The Science Police’s department is to punish those who experiment dangerously. I feel like noting that both Hawkodile and Dr. Fox end up earning their respect in the respective episodes they appear in.

Anyway, pilots in the Unikingdom have to take a pilot’s test. Hawkodile is seen doing it, so I guess they can take it with no plane-flying experience (except maybe some studying?) (Did Dr. Fox need one to build and fly any of the aircrafts she built?)

People apparently also need a license to love chinchillas.

As mentioned before, crabs and bunnies have their own areas/societies that are considered part of the Unikingdom

There are also courtrooms and jails in the Unikingdom.

Judges in the courts are decided by spinning the judge wheel.

Court recesses are treated like elementary school recesses on the playground.

Some jails have a specific theme, like ice pop jail.

It seems like prisoners can escape jail at any time.

How are the characters familiar with mayors, emperesses, and Madame Duchesses?

It’s implied that they use a Gregorian-ish calendar in the Unikingdom, but some of the months are different, like Brickcember

They also use analog clocks and alarm clocks to tell time. In one episode, Richard says, “I’ve been up since 5:30 this morning.”

By the way, 5:00 AM in the Unikingdom is long after sunrise, when the sun is pretty high in the sky

The Unikingdom uses dollars as its currency. They also have coins, so are they, like, their equivalent of cents? (Puppycorn changed this to paying for things with high fives for a short time.)

The Unikingdom has banks. Unikitty refers to the bank as the money store.

Anything can be sold, in either shops or roadside stands.

There are pet stores, as I said.

The Toy Zone/Toy District seems to particularly sell toys and games.

The episode Special Delivery shows us how wacky and zany the Unikingdom’s postal system is. Dolphins can deliver mail, and there’s even literal snail mail. (As in, snails delivering the mail.)

Stamp collecting is a thing, too.

Unikingdom citizens get their news from The Unikingdom News Super Good Morning Time Action Program Information Show Now!, the Internet, and much less popularly, newspapers. (I say much less popularly because no one wanted to read Richard’s newspapers)

The people use tablets and cell phones.

There’s a secret society of people wearing cloaks, and they use stickers and books to open up a portal to the underworld?!

There’s a Helpful Helpers Auction, where the gang lends their services to the citizens for a day or so. According to Puppycorn, it supports next year’s auction.

There’s also an annual Ice Cream Festival.

There are lots and LOTS of specifically themed parties, such as a Piñata Party, a Burger Party, and a Jazz Party. In fact, they celebrate something almost every day. Some of these parties are annual, like the Cotton Candy Pool Party.

I guess that informal IS formal in the Unikingdom.

Unikitty also has these kinds of conferences with her citizens on an outdoor stage?

People have sleepovers, where they eat pizza, do prank calls, watch monster movies, and play sleepover games.

Richard suggests to Hawkodile that he send a declaration of love to his crush via mourning dove, with three poems expressing your heart’s desire. These are reminiscent of Victorian courting rituals.

Birthdays are a huge deal in the Unikingdom. They’re taken very seriously. They’re observed with cake, presents, big parties, and the Happy Birthday song.

Weddings are held outside. There’s wedding bells, flowers, groom top hats and tuxes, bridal veils and bouquets, and engagement and wedding rings. And wait a minute- bishops?!

In a scene where Dr. Fox is watching her robots get married, the officiant robot is wearing a mitre. Like I said, though, there's no churches or, like, actual Christianity.

Funerals are done by burying the dead person in a coffin. There’s a gravestone, wreaths, and their picture. The attendees wear black and throw flowers on the coffin.

Traditionally, the people lay down a towel at the beach to claim a spot.

Elderly people customarily tend to their gardens, clean their dentures, feed birds, wait for their loved ones to call, apply ointments, bake, swim, and eat dinner in the afternoon.

The elderly are seen as “always napping at weird times, drinking tea and knitting.”

Dessert-themed sweepstakes are a thing. Unikitty and her friends search for a winning ice pop stick to win a tour to an ice pop factory

Libraries are run pretty strictly in the Unikingdom. They have a strict return policy. If you don’t return your books on time, you get banned for life. Some people have to help the librarian with tasks, such as carrying tall, heavy stacks of books (like Brock did).

When on vacation, people take selfies and photos, try new foods, and buy a lot of souvenirs

Going to the zoo is a fun activity to people. So is going to the park.

On a hot day, people wear, quote-unquote, “cool” outfits and strike “cool” poses. More on this in the Fashion section

In his treehouse, Hawkodile has SOME kind of shrine for Sensei Falcomodo. There’s his picture, a bowl of incense, candles, and a cloth on the table.

In the summer, people go to the pool for a fun pool day, play/watch sports, have barbecues, go on picnics, watch fireworks, go to the movies, catch fireflies, try on shorts, ride bikes, try on shorts, and go to the beach

They do summer camps in the Unikingdom, like Lost at Sea Survival Camp, or camping trips for kids.

Action Forest is where action heroes train, and they practice in a dojo?

Hawkodile had supposedly trained in the dojo his whole life. It’s also implied that Sensei Falcomodo raised him and Eagleator.

Fuzz Fuzz (a baby caterpillar that Unikitty decides to adopt and who grows up) attends a Giant Monster Community College… but he graduates with a diploma instead of a degree.

Unikingdom Mannerisms and Etiquette:

Being silly and loud seems to be considered acceptable.

Dishes are served on plates and eaten with forks, knives and spoons. People use napkins. Utensils, plates, bowls, mugs, etc. are cleaned with dish soap and sponges.

Food is eaten at tables, though people can have picnics on blankets.

Hawkodile is orphaned, and it's shown that he never met his birth parents.

Eagleator says that his family was kidnapped by bandits, and he’s running out of time. It’s also implied he has a baby sibling, but we never see them or find out who they are.

—Story Time—

Mornings were always a quiet affair. Most of the other egos figured that Wilford needed his coffee to wake up in the morning, as any attempt to interact with him before then was largely unsuccessful. Only a few of the older egos knew the truth.

“Good morning, Wil.”

William hummed a quiet greeting to Dark, nodding towards the Jims at the kitchen table as he grabbed his mug, once again thankful that Dark gets up early enough to make coffee before everyone else is awake.

“Morning Not-so-Pink Jim!” One of the two Jim’s currently at the table spoke up.

“Mornin’ CJ.” William responded, turning around to lean against the counter and sipping his coffee.

Dark turned to grab the sugar and whipped cream, in preparation for Wilford’s memories to slot into place. “Any plans today, love?”

William shrugged, closing his eyes to just enjoy the quiet. “Got a meeting with Kathryn later. Think I’ll work on new interview questions til then.”

At this point the pink was returning to his hair and mustache, so Dark passed him the sugar. “Tell Kathryn I said hello, would you?”

Wilford nodded, reaching for the whipped cream and digging through a cabinet for the rainbow sprinkles. “Oh sure! Here’s to hoping she doesn’t mention the mess that happened yesterday!”

Wilford clinked his overly sugary mug with Dark’s, pressing a kiss to the other’s cheek before turning to head towards his studio. “Later Jims! I’ll look over your footage after my meeting.”

“Later Pink Jim!” The duo chorused.

AJ turned to look at Dark, who raised an eyebrow at him. “What?”

“Reporter Jim wants to interview William.” CJ spoke up.

Dark shook his head, finishing off his own coffee. “That’s not advisable, Jim. Wilford doesn’t know about his lapsing into William, and I would rather not find out what would happen if he were to find out.”

“Permission to interview Wilford, Demon Jim?” AJ asked.

“If you don’t ask about William, I don’t care AJ. Goodness knows what you four will do otherwise.” Dark replied. They had long since given up arguing with the Jims that they weren’t a demon.

“Wil, I can’t find Roosevelt!” Artie ran up to the pink journalist.

“Well then I’ll help you look! She’s bound to be around here somewhere.” Wilford pat the boys head reassuringly before turning towards his manager. “Excuse me Kathryn, this is of upmost importance. Roosevelt is expecting and Artie here has been busy making her a comfy little nest.”

Kathryn sighed but nodded. “Well we were nearly done already. I’ll leave the notes on your desk. Nice to see you Artie.”

“Nice to see you Kathryn!” Artie waved, tugging on Wilford’s hand. “Let’s go Wil!”

“Later!” Wilford waved. “Oh, Bim was wanting to talk to you too.”

“Alright. Good luck Artie.”

“Thanks!” Artie was finally able to pull Wilford away and towards his room.

“Have you looked in your treehouse yet, King?” Wilford asked, watching Artie tug him along with amusement.

“Yeah, she’s not actually missing though. I just had to think of something to get you out of the meeting.” Artie admitted, opening his door and making a beeline to his window.

“Oh really, whatever for?”

“Roosevelt had her babies!!” Artie explained, leading the way across the rope bridge to his treehouse.

“Oh did she now! That’s wonderful!” Wilford laughed, following the boy’s lead in staying quiet and moving slowly.

“Look!” Artie pointed towards one of the nest holes. “They’re so tiny!”

“Indeed! What do you plan to name them?”

Artie hummed deep in thought, milling it over as he studied the squirrel kits. Wilford smiled fondly, petting another squirrel while he waited.

“I think I’ll call that one Sherbet, that one Rocky, that little one Obi-Wan, and that one Moose.” Artie finally decided, pointing to each kit as he named them.

Wilford laughed. “Lovely names, I’m sure they’ll grow right into them!”

Artie beamed. “Oh they will! I’m the best King of the Squirrels ever and I’ll make sure they grow up to be big and strong little squirrels! Oh, the Jims want to interview you again, by the way.”

“Of course, they’ve only done so twice this week, I was waiting for them to come looking for me again.”

“There you are, Darkling!” Dark looked up as the pink ego appeared in their room.

“Hello Wilford, how was your day?”

“Oh it was great!” Wilford started, sprawling across Dark’s lap. “I scheduled another interview, and that meeting with Kathryn went splendidly! Oh say, did King tell you about his baby squirrels? They’re so adorable and tiny! And of course the Jims interviewed me again. This time they wanted to know how some of my hair is pink and I told them ‘well how should I know? It just is!’”

Dark smiled, setting his book aside and carding softly through said pink hair while he listened to Wilford ramble on about his day.

Anyways here it is

it was halloween night and bim trimmer decided to summon “baldactor”

As it was told through the egos that if you went to the bathroom ,looked in a mirror and recited “bald actor hear my please, please come forward and release me” 3 times he would appear at 3 am

The egos specifically dark warning them and telling them not to do so but bim not caring

Later the night ,after every ego slept bim went to the bathroom, the lights closed and a candle lit

He looked at the mirror and recited his words that was told to him

Before sleeping and then getting a night mare which seemingly woke him up

A bit on edge he looked at the time ‘2:55’ he thought not thinking much of it

Before .. minutes later at 3 bald actor demonically appearing and smilling at him

Bim terrified and shocked didnt know what to say only teared up bc of it. Deciding to just sleep it off even if he wasnt letting him

It was Bim, and Evan gives a tiny sigh of relief “Oh a lot of people say that about him. Recognising him I mean”

Jim Jim is about 7 years old and I'll be honest I made them just to prove I could and didn't think farther than, "propeller cap make him go fly", as for Bim Bim, he is the imaginary friend of Jim Jim, whose physical form is a balloon, for some reason (I wasn't gonna draw Bim Bim, but I mentioned him and my friend made me)

Blake is just your normal highschool/college kid who, though not much attention was paid to him, is actually quite nice, although you've always seen him reading books on the occult and you swear his girlfriend is a LITERAL demon, also you've heard rumors that he's a vampire, but both of them are rather nice (demon girlfriend to be drawn)
