Dean’s Five-Year-Old Daughter
Dean and I were only supposed to be a one-night stand. My name is Holly, Holly Plake. I have a five-year-old daughter named Ivy because of that one-night stand. Dean hasn't been through Prattville, Alabama, since he took care of those civil war ghosts.
Ivy is a perfect mix of both Dean and me. She has a mixture of my dark brown hair and his blonde hair; and, she has his green eyes. She is honestly the sweetest little girl.
It was a Saturday morning and I hear a knock on the front door. I say, "Ivy, I am going to answer the door. How about you watch Scooby Doo?" Ivy says, "Okay, Mommy. Will you join me after you answer the door?" I say, "Of course, baby. I love watching Saturday morning cartoons with you. It is my favorite part of the week." Ivy laughs in the same laugh that her father, Dean, has. I smile.
I open the front door to reveal Dean and this guy that was probably about 6'4". I ask, "Dean, why are you here?" Dean says, "My little brother, Sam, and I were in the area so I thought I would pay you a visit, Holly." I say, "I never heard from you again after you left that morning. Thought you didn't want me to see me anymore." Dean starts to open his mouth to say something when Ivy runs to the front door and says, "Mommy, I thought you were joining me." Dean looks at the little girl and then at me; and I guess he is wondering if Ivy is his. I say, "I will be there soon, Ivy." Ivy nods and runs back to the living room.
Dean asks, "How old is she?" I say, "Ivy is five years old, Dean." Sam stands there quietly. Dean asks, "Is she mine?" I say, "Dean Winchester, you are the only guy I have ever been with, and it was only for that one night. I got pregnant as a result of a one-night stand. What else do you want me to say? It wasn't like you left me a number or anything. Guess my parents were right, it only takes one time to get pregnant." Dean is thinking; and, I say, "Yes, the condom broke and yes, I did the morning after pill. I still got pregnant; and, honestly, Ivy is the best thing that has ever happened to me."
Dean clears his throat and asks, "May I talk with her?" I say, "Sure if you can get her away from Scooby Doo that is her favorite cartoon." Dean chuckles and says, "Mine too." Dean, Sam, and I walk into the living room. I say, "Ivy, Dean is going to sit in here with you while Sam and I are going to make some breakfast." Ivy chirps, "Okay, Mommy." I smile and ruffle her hair.
Sam and I walk into my kitchen. Sam says, "I am sorry my brother never contacted you." I say, "It is no big deal it was supposed to be a one-night stand." Sam nods and says, "She looks like the perfect combination of both you and Dean." I smile. Sam and I hear Dean and Ivy both laughing. Sam says, "Wow, she has even got his laugh." I say, "Yeah she does."
Needless to say, that is how Ivy and I joined Sam and Dean in hunting the supernatural because Dean wasn't going to leave us once he found out about Ivy. I stayed at the bunker and did research for Sam and Dean while homeschooling Ivy. We became a happy family.

okay I don't really know how to frame this. but like. funniest way to confirm Dean is Ben's dad is
20 year-old Ben takes a genetics test for fun or whatever, and the results he gets back are just batshit insane. it's like. oh hey. my biological father is a known serial killer who's still on the FBI's most wanted list and has been found or thought dead multiple times. and my uncle. and my grandfather. and my grandmother. and my--
#and then he tracks dean down and he's gay married with like three adopted kids to a dude who went on a serial murdering rampage against#known anti-gay preachers and politicians before disappearing again and oh hey he's also the infamous missing 'jimmy novak'#and there's his missing daughter claire who also has a shit ton of warrants. and some of these people have superpowers.#not to mention what adam adds to the tree.#oh hey my half-uncle's been presumed missing for a long time and so has his mom. so that's great.#anyway. just think ben showing up in the last season would've been a seriously entertaining way to bring him and his mom back. for drama.#(also. if emma was there. oh hey. my half-sister has superpowers. and also probably has warrants. what the fuck).#and why are these people asking about a mind wipe?#just something I think about sometimes.#ben braeden#dean winchester#sam winchester#john winchester#mary winchester#the winchesters#the campbells#samuel campbell#deanna campbell#castiel#emma winchester#claire novak#jack kline#destiel#spn text post#spn#adam milligan#kate milligan#my posts

the hill that i will die on is that cas would have never said he loved dean if he had to deal with the consequences of it afterwards, meanwhile dean (who was SUPPOSED to tell cas he loved him in the original crypt scene script) would have eventually worked up to saying it without external pressure
#listen#LISTEN#i know there's a bunch of takes out there that basically amount to dean being too emotionally stunted to know what he's feeling#but dean's problem has always been being TOO connected to his emotions and being unable to process that#meanwhile cas our sexy avoidant king and chronic ghoster would rather die than acknowledge something that big#like are we forgetting that cas's big move after fucking everything up was to go insane and basically not deal with the problem#meanwhile dean is trying to have a heart to heart with every family member love interest and pseudo adopted daughter every six seconds#ANYWAY yeah#if cas hadn't have made a deal with the empty and if that deal didn't ultimately conveniently correlate with saving dean's life?#cas wouldn't have said shit#FREAK <3#mean while dean winchester (WHO HAD MORE TO SAY IN PURGATORY!) would have eventually worked his way up to it#and im not saying he'd handle it well bc he'd probably drop it and then be weird about it forever#but he's more likely to be the first to acknowledge it if they weren't being pressured by outside forces#dean studies#cas studies#im so fucking normal about them#dean winchester#castiel

While I love Jack and do think Alexander Calvert did a truly amazing job playing him and the fact he looks a little like Misha is adorabel.
but I do think that we were robbed from how astronomical the following seasons could have been if Jack was a girl.
#but I'm also glad they didn't cause they would have probably somehow fucked it up in the most sexist way possible#like they've already confirmed in universe that god is a little sexist and I'd wager that rubbed off a little bit atleast on lucifer#the fact that the whole world would have been looking for another boy saviour of course they would be#it would complicate her relationships with everyone#like looking at her would be a constant reminder to Castiel of all the ways failed he failed claire#it would take him so much longer to fully come to all his complex feelings about Jack being his daughter#because then he'd have to acknowledge the little girl he already abandoned#that he is in the stolen body of a father who already had a daughter who is still alive and rightfully hates him#Not to even mention chuck and all the issues he already had with Amara the only powerful female presence he really has in his life and she#and she was stronger than his and that more than anything is probably what got to him and then he'd have to face Jack#another woman who might be stronger than him and I think that would drive him crazy#he's see so much of Amara in her and it would make him violent#not to talk about the winchesters like what do they do with that?#they barely know how to be men how do they raise a woman?#supernatural#god if she was blonde? like their mother and claire? when dean said, "I was trying to protect you, dad didn't even have to tell me. IT WAS MY RESPONSIBILITY" the big sister in me cried a bit. I have a little brother and he's had his fair share of crap till now and I fight tooth n nail to give him a wee bit of normal he could get and I'll fight till my last breath.

i’ve started watching shameless again and i’ve fallen down the shamelessnatural rabbit hole. like thinking back to all of shameless, dean is literally mickey and fiona coded to the nth degree. dean deserved a “no thanks to you because you weren’t here” speech. dean deserved a “guess what we’ve been doing daddy, we’ve been fucking” speech. dean deserved a “i’m starting to get fucking homocidal, call me the fuck back” speech when praying to cas. dean and cas deserved a “i love you” “are you going to leave” “no” “everybody always leaves” “i won’t” scene. after all the hell that dean went through over the course of the show, metaphorically and literally, he deserved some of the breaking points and vulnerability shots fiona and mickey got

sorry but if you have a single younger sibling you're not an eldest child. like chronologically yes you are the oldest of your pair of siblings but it just does not produce the same results. as the eldest of three i have only ever met and bonded with Eldest Children™️ who had at least two little siblings. oldest of two just doesn't hit the same. you're older but not oldest y'know what i'm saying
#saw someone say they're the eldest of two but hate eldest sibling memes well that's probably cause they're not for you idk#being a pair vs. a group creates different things. just how it goes#valentine notes#^ this said dean winchester does manage to have eldest daughter energy#LIE. ahaha. he has another little brother. he gets it by technicality#shout out to adam sorry for forgetting ab you again bud

here's a big long thing i already had typed out on another platform. it's for the hunter!jaime au.
i want to think that jaime never went on a hunt with john and his boys because of several reasons;
1) jaime's parents forbade him from going on hunts until he was 16 (which he turned after his parents died and he ran away, so he never would've gotten to go on a hunt while his parents were alive).
2) dean would never agree to jaime's pleads on helping him sneak himself on a hunt with sam, dean, and john, because dean doesn't want jaime around john anymore than he has to be. he doesn't want his dad corrupting the most important person in his life other than sam. he doesn't have it exactly in his head like that, but he sort of knows that everything his dad touches, he corrupts, and dean doesn't want that to happen to jaime.
BUT listen. i'm thinking one time somewhere between 1993-1996. sam and dean have been acquainted with jaime and jackie for a few years now. jaime's and jackie's parents have started letting them stay at bobby's some of the time, to give jackie's parents a break from babysitting the two cousins when jaime's parents are on hunts. sometimes the winchester boys are there at the same time as jaime and jackie, and bobby complains that he isn't running a daycare, but he loves all those kids like they're his own, so he doesn't actually mind.
this takes place one of the times all four kids are at bobby's. dean and jaime have yet another argument about jaime hunting. or, jaime trying to convince dean to sneak him along during a hunt with john and the boys. they get a bit more hot under the collar than usual, and sam and jackie end up butting in to break up the fight.
then john drops by unannounced to bring the boys on a hunt. jaime gets the idea to smuggle himself along, and while everyone else is distracted, jaime gets in the trunk and crams himself in the back, praying that john doesn't open it before they leave.
he doesn't. jaime doesn't get discovered until they get to the location of the case--i'm thinking around tallahassee, florida, because florida is pretty far away and that's the first place in florida i came up with.
john first stops to interview the latest victim's family of some sorta monster (idk what yet, idk if it matters to this or not) and jaime is starting to get tired of being in the trunk. it's stuffy, he's been in there for over a day of him in the same confined place. he's hungry, hungrier than he's ever been in his entire life, and he's getting grumpy. he bangs his fist against the back of the trunk.
the startled scream from dean on the other side of the trunk is almost worth all the time jaime spent getting jostled around and starved in the trunk. jaime pounds on the back of the trunk again and yells for the boys to let him out.
he hears the back doors open and shut, and a moment later, the trunk opens. sam and dean stand there shocked for a minute while jaime gets out of the trunk, shuts it, and complains about being hungry.
dean sputters "how did--i told you that you can't ever come with us!" "too late now," jaime grins in return. "you are going to be in so much trouble," dean hisses, just as john is coming back. sam and dean spin around guiltily as they hear john bark their names.
john demands to know why the hell jaime is here. jaime replies that he sneaked into the trunk to come along on a hunt, because he'd been really wanting to go on a hunt for a while and his parents wouldn't allow him to.
john huffs, and dean suggests quietly that they should take jaime back home before they continue the case. jaime, feeling betrayed, glares at him, while john says they can't do that, because denver is half a continent away, and they can't just drive back as soon as they got to the location of the next hunt. "no, i'll call [his] parents and tell them where [he] is, and then we'll continue the hunt. jaime will just have to join us."
jaime is shocked about john actually letting him be on the hunt, but excited. dean is definitely uneasy about this. he knows jaime is several years older than dean was the first time he went on a hunt, and jaime has been trained by his parents + has gotten some pointers from bobby, so it wasn't like jaime was walking in blind. but still, he'd never been on a hunt before, and it scared dean to think of all the different things that could happen to jaime.
john drives the kids to the cheapest motel, rents a room, and drops them off to go interview more families of recent victims. as soon as he's gone, dean blows up on jaime, telling him how much danger he could be in for coming along. jaime scoffs, saying that just because he's younger than dean, doesn't mean that he is helpless. he then points out that sam is younger than him, and sam comes along on hunts too. dean replies that sam sits in the car while dean and their father do the hunting, so he's not in any real danger. jaime says "if you think i'm sitting the car throughout this, then you're thinking wrong, asshole."
meanwhile, bobby and jackie have obviously noticed jaime is gone, and at first bobby thinks that jaime just went to hide in the junkyard after his fight with dean, which jackie had informed bobby about. but after a couple hours, the two began to get worried, and they had searched the entire salvage yard top and bottom, finding no sign of him.
they then search the house, because maybe jaime had been in there the whole time and not actually in the yard. when they don't find him there, bobby begins to get genuinely worried. he doesn't call jaime's parents for another few hours, after he had searched the woods around his place and still couldn't find any sign of jaime. jaime's parents are in the middle of a hunt and can't come themselves, but jackie's parents are able to (since they don't hunt).
by the time john calls jaime's parents to tell them where he is, it's the next day, jackie's parents have made the 9hr drive from denver to sioux falls, and nobody has slept a wink the entire time. jaime's parents are horrified to learn their kid is on a hunt in florida over twenty hours from their current location, with about the worst person they could think of their child being under the care of.
they demand for john to bring jaime back to bobby's place. john scoffs, and tells them no, he's going to finish this hunt before taking jaime anywhere. jaime's mom threatens that if jaime gets hurt before he is brought home, she will send john's ass to hell. john rolls his eyes, grumbles that there isn't any way he can make any promises, "and you know that", and hangs up. jaime's parents are flabbergasted over the fact that john had the balls to hang up on them, but decide to call bobby to let him and jackie's parents know where jaime is so they can stop worrying and looking fruitlessly.
jaime's parents debate on whether they should head to florida to pick up jaime, but ultimately decide that by the time they'd wrapped up their hunt and got to florida, john would probably have finished his hunt and could've been on the way back to sioux falls already. they just have to hope jaime has enough common sense to keep himself safe.
now, back in tallahassee. john had come back to the motel with grub for the kids, and jaime was scarfing it down, because he hadn't eaten for over twenty-four hours by now. dean warns him to eat slower, but jaime ignores him, and ends up throwing everything back up because he ate too fast. john grunts "you got warned", and jaime is just burning with shame and embarrassment, while sam offers jaime a sympathetic look, and sneaks jaime some of his own food. dean does, too, careful to make sure john doesn't notice--he would've told them not to give jaime any of their food, because they needed it to be able to concentrate on the hunt.
while they eat, john tells them their next move, what they're going to be doing on this hunt. he asks jaime if he has any experience with firearms, which jaime replies "uh, yeah, of course i do". dean gives jaime a warning look, while john mutters "at least your parents are doing something right". it's a big argument between john and jaime's parents with how they are raising jaime.
idk the hunt goes on, john tests jaime to see how well he is with a firearm. as in he puts jaime in a compromised position where jaime has to defend himself against the creature/s they are after. dean is absolutely horrified at this, but jaime is able to hold his own and slow down the creature/s enough for john and dean to come in and finish the job. john offers jaime a "that wasn't too bad, kid", which makes dean feel awful because he himself hardly gets compliments like that from his dad, and jaime feels sick to his stomach from the combination of the blood and gore of the hunt and the fact he knows john almost never compliments dean like that.
later, dean quietly asks john how he knew jaime would've been able to hold his own until he and john could get to him. to dean's horror, john replies that he didn't; "i figured if the kid had good enough instincts and was smart enough, [he] would've been able to take care of [himself]. and apparently [he] is". dean swallows, then whispered, "but what if [he] hadn't been?" john looks at dean and says, "you know what would've happened. there probably wouldn't be enough of [him] left to burn".
after they clean up the body/ies of the monsters, they all head back to bobby's place. during the drive, jaime (who is sitting in the middle seat between sam and dean) falls asleep on dean's shoulder, and dean covers jaime up with his own jacket. john watches this through the rearview mirror. dean notices and meets john's eyes through the reflection for a moment before dean looks away.
they make it to bobby's the next day. jaime's parents are there waiting, and jaime is met with instant fierce scolding about sneaking into the impala to go on a hunt. jaime argues that he was fine, he did good on the hunt, and "it's not as bad as you say it is". john puts in that jaime wasn't too bad on the hunt, and though jaime hates this man more than anyone else in existence, he can't help but feel a little appreciative of his "support". joseph snaps at john, saying "this isn't the time", and orders jaime to go wait in the car. jaime mumbles goodbyes to everyone outside of his parents and john, and then does as he's told.
john tells sam and dean to wait in the impala, while jackie's parents take jackie inside. bobby lingers for a moment, looking between john and jaime's parents, before going inside, as well. he stays close to a window, though, to keep an eye on them in case he needed to intervene.
jaime's parents and john have a long discussion (read: argument) about the events of the past couple of days. jaime's parents say he "shouldn't have encouraged jaime's want to go on a hunt", while john argues he had nothing to do with it, and he never wanted "another kid to worry about" while on the hunt. he also says that "the kid's a natural, [he] should be able to utilize the skills [he] has". jacqueline responds fiercely that no, jaime should not be out in the field, because he's too young and not mature enough to truly handle himself against monsters. john replies that he already has, "and [he] did a damn good job at it". jaime hears this, and again feels guilty about it. sam and dean hear it, too, and sam whispers to a dejected dean that he did a great job on this hunt, too. dean doesn't respond.
jacqueline reveals that the real reason she doesn't want jaime on hunts at his age is because she and benjamin lost their sister bethany during a hunt when they were kids, because their father forced his three children on hunts when they were too young for it, too. "i don't want to lose my only baby the way my father lost one of his". she says this quietly enough so that jaime can't hear, but the impala is parked closer, and dean had discreetly rolled his window down enough so that he could hear anything the adults were saying. he was shocked to hear about this, as jaime had never told him about this (jaime didn't know).
jacqueline storms off to the car and gets in the passenger seat; she's too pissed of to drive. joseph glares at john for a moment before following after his wife, getting in the driver's seat, and pulling away. the whole way back is silent, besides the music over the radio playing softly. jaime falls asleep on the way there, and once they get back, it's dark, and he's still asleep. joseph carries him to bed.
jaime gets grounded, and doesn't get to see sam and dean as part of the punishment. he still gets to see jackie, because joseph and jacqueline still go out on hunts and benjamin and marilyn have to come over with jackie to watch jaime. jackie tries to offer words of assurance to jaime, as do benjamin and marilyn, but jaime ignores them, only coming out of his room for dinner.

A lot of feelings about this one episode in season 6 where Ben tries to get his mom and Dean backs together and when Dean goes talk to him about how he can't be around, he starts talking about how Ben will turn out like him if he stays and Ben can't understand why Dean thinks he is so bad, because for him Dean is just the dad he never had, who sure could be messed up at times but still, as far as we know Dean was his only paternal figure for a long time.
And thinking about this in the context of the babyfic, how Dean thinks he is setting up his daughter for failure with a hunter life, he would give everything for her to be able to have a normal life with school, friends and stupid school dances that he would drive her to, but he has no idea how to give her those things.
#spn#dean winchester#babyfic tag#fic concepts#I still can't think of a name for Dean's daughter#so she is still being called the daughter#it does makes her look like a movie villain but it's okay#also I want to add that I think Ben and Lisa's memories being wiped would not only affect Dean but also her#because for a year she had a brother and a mother there with her#and then all of a sudden they don't even remember her existence#i do think this would sour hers and Dean's relationship a bit even if she was young#but I do believe Dean would talk to her and try to comfort her the best he could#He does asks Bobby for help because he has no clue of how#and Bobby who don't interact with little girls that often has to call Jody

Don't think about Dean spending time in Purgatory less than a year later wondering, even hoping he'd run into her, but not knowing what he would say. Dean thinking to himself he could give her a second chance but scared she wouldn't want anything to do with him. Don't think about Dean considering how to explain things to Sam if he found her, how he could keep his family together. Don't think about him wondering if they would make him choose and how he would decide.
Don't think about Dean hesitating a second too long whenever a flash of blonde appeared, to the point that Benny had saved him dozens of times. Don't think about Dean giving up on her when he doesn't see monsters he's killed ever again, wondering if dying in here is permanent. Don't think about Dean wondering how she died even here because she was here alone for so long before he got here. Don't think about Dean actually wishing he could do some research to see if Amazons even go to Purgatory when they die. Don't think about Dean feeling bad for wishing they did so he might have a second chance.
Don't think about Dean realizing he had nothing to remember her by because she never even had the chance to like or enjoy anything enough to be considered a memento or pasttime - what would she have liked? Don't think about Dean feeling guilty for starting to forget what she looked like, wishing somehow he had a picture because she doesn't deserve being abandoned, failed, *and* forgotten by her own father.
Don't think about Dean clinging to Cas when he finds him, glad that he didn't have to let *both* of them down. Don't think about Dean's sorrow and guilt when he leaves with neither. Don't think about Dean feeling like he doesn't deserve a family when he couldn't protect the one man and child he already had. Don't think about Dean's advice to people dealing with regret is to bury it and drink. Don't think about Dean never mentioning her *ever* again.
Don't think about Dean losing his mother, Crowley, and Cas all at once (plus Jack *actually* killing his *own* mother) and Sam defending Jack's right to live, his right not to be judged even in the wake of his destruction. Don't think about Sam insisting Dean trust his judgement despite the circumstances, despite barely ever returning the favor except when his way blows up and he's out of ideas. Don't think about Sam judging Dean for not putting his feelings aside in the midst of extreme grief that Dean has to step aside and nearly break his hand in anger. Don't think about Dean complaining each step of the way but still letting Sam have the chance to play dad - because he would *never* do to Sam what Sam did to him. Don't think about Dean giving Jack a chance at the first sign of goodness, wondering if Emma would have done the same if she'd had the time.
Don’t think about Dean getting rid of Emma’s body. Don’t think about him folding her small hands over her bloodied chest. Don’t think about him crossing her ankles, seeing her brand new converse shoes and wondering who bought them for her. Was it someone who loved her? Did Amazons even feel love for their children or only a sense of duty? Don’t think about him snapping at Sam to shut up while his brother urged him to hurry before someone called the cops about the gunshot. Don’t think about Dean carefully lifting her hair from behind her back, laying it out in two tresses over her shoulders, wondering what it would have been like to learn to braid it. Don’t think about him stripping the sheets off the hotel bed and tucking them gently, gingerly around her lifeless body. Don’t think about him hoisting her into his arms for the first time, marveling at how light she was, how tiny. Don’t think about him laying her across the backseat in the car. Don’t think about him pulling off the road several miles away. Don’t think about him carrying her into the woods on the side of the road, Sam lugging a couple shovels and a jug of accelerant. Don’t think about Dean walking until he found a peaceful clearing, grassy where the trees broke for the night sky, surrounded by a chorus of crickets and tree frogs. She’d be able to see the stars here, Dean thinks, as he starts to dig. He gruffly directs Sam to keep watch; Dean will do the work. He’ll dig until his shoulders ache, until it feels like his spine is splintering at the small of his back, until the shovel rubs raw blisters into his palms. The hole is untidy and shallow - above all, small. Barely five feet long. She didn’t even come up to his shoulder. Would she have kept growing? Don’t think about Dean lifting his little girl for the last time, laying her into the cradle of damp dirt. He spills salt and accelerant over her still body and he thinks she should have had a pyre. She was a hunter, after all, just as much as him. He lets his lighter fall, watches long after her bones turn to ash, blinking back the sting of smoke in his eyes.
On the way back from her gravesite, Sam tells him she wasn’t yours. Not really.

au where john doesn't go missing, dean never gets sam from stanford, and almost five years from when sam walked out on them and never looked back, dean gets a call from a sobbing woman telling him that sam's missing and she needs his help
dean and john go to palo alto where they meet jessica, an engagement ring and a thin gold band on her left hand, which is how they find out that there's one more person out there carrying the winchester name
they don't even get to linger over the fact that sam's married, that they're talking to his wife, because she tells him that he just disappeared, that she came home and he was missing but their living room was covered in sulpher
she tells him about the past two years, about how sam has been getting visions of other psychic children like him, some who had mothers that died in their nursery at six months, others that didn't. they met a lot of them, kept in regular contact, but the past few months they've been disappearing one by one and now sam's gone too
(jess keeps the telekinesis to herself, keeps the information about the demon to herself, doesn't breathe a word about the mind control or the super strength or electric shock or any of things that the other children could do that they'd been slowly testing to see if sam could do too. she's gone to dean and john because she has to but she doesn't forget that there's a reason sam hadn't gone to them when this all started happening, that instead he'd come clean to her about every lie about his life and told her to run, that something was coming for her and for him too
she hadn't run then and she won't now)
dean is losing his mind, all these things about his brother that he didn't know about and has to deal with, meanwhile john is quietly having a little mental breakdown, realizing this is the moment, where if he can't save his son then he's going to have to kill him
jess refuses to be left behind, reminds them pointedly that she's sam's wife and they're either doing this with her or not all
so dean and john have to deal with their sister in law / daughter in law tagging along and helping them track sam all while obviously not liking or trusting them an inch
#a sam who hasn't been rejecting his powers is a sam who's not going to get surprised by betrayal#because he'll obviously have a vision of his own death#and know how to prevent it#now a sam who's spent two years practicing his powers against azazel...#supernatural

Headcanon: When You're Having His Child...
Pairings: Dean Winchester x F. Reader, Beau Arlen x F. Reader, Soldier Boy/Ben x F. Reader
AN: This one is requested by @cevansbaby-dove, and is kind of a continuation of this imagine: When you have morning sickness.
Tags/Warnings: Potential fluff overload.
HC: How Dean, Beau, and Soldier Boy (Ben) would act while you're in labor.
Dean Winchester
Oh, sweet man...
Dean does the thing where he pretends he has his shit together.
He's really trying, for your sake, for his own, and to save face around Sam and Eileen and Jody and everyone else in the hospital waiting room.
They can see it, and he knows it: he's freaking the hell out.
When he's in the room with you, he's either helping you, holding your hand, waiting for you to be dilated enough to start the whole "having a baby" process, or pacing around on those bowlegs, occasionally dragging a hand over his mouth in that telltale nervous gesture.
"Babe, come 'ere," you say with strain. That last contraction really took it out of you. "You're making me even more nervous than I already am."
Dean goes to you and smooths a hand over your hair.
"Sorry, sweetheart. I'm sorry. How're you holding up?"
Tears well up in your eyes, but you try to breathe through it. You're overwhelmed, you're in pain, and you've been in labor for several hours already.
"We're ready for this, right?" you ask, squeezing his hand. He sits on the edge of your bed and makes sure you look him in the eyes.
"We're about to find out," he says, with a bit of teasing. But his gaze is steady when he brings your hand up to his lips. "You don't gotta worry about anything. I'm gonna be with you, come whatever, okay?"
You smile, because you don't just believe him. You know.
Because after years of fighting together, surviving together, living together, you know that this is just one more adventure you get to go on with him by your side.
Now, Dean would rather not see all the gritty details of the birth, but he stays in the delivery room, letting you squeeze the shit out of his hand. He's not going to leave your side. He's wiping sweat from your brow and encouraging you, being whatever kind of support you need.
After the baby's born and the nurses bring her back all cleaned up, Dean holds his daughter for the first time.
He has tears in his eyes. For a long moment, he doesn't even blink. He stares down at that small, perfect face. Already he sees some of your features in her.
He can't put into words how he feels. It's overwhelming in his chest. But one thing is certain...
Dean's never been more grateful to be alive than in this moment.
He blinks, and the first of his tears fall. He brings her to you, sitting down carefully on the edge of your bed again so you can hold her. You're beyond exhaustion, sweaty, and weeping, but one thing is certain...
You've never been more grateful for Dean than in this moment.
You turn to him, giving him a small smile. He returns it, and he leans in to give you a gentle kiss.
"Do you have a name picked out yet?" one of the nurses asks.
You and Dean share a look: his imploring, yours knowing.
"We're not naming her Baby," you warn him.
"Aw, come on."
Beau Arlen
Round 2! 🫡
Beau runs the gambit from excited, to anxious, to freaking the hell out, and back to excited.
This is "Round 2" for him. His second child. But he's had reservations about being an "older" father to a new baby. (He's pushing 50 at this point. No matter how much he keeps in shape, he still feels his age in his bowlegged knees.)
You've assured him that plenty of men have children at his age.
Regardless of his insecurities though, you know he's still over the moon. Beau has always wanted more kids, deep down, and now thanks to you, he's getting his wish.
He's the man who's "prepared for anything."
When your water broke, he already had your to-go bag ready with everything you might need.
But he continues to ask you questions from the moment he's got you out the door to the drive over to the hospital, and even in the lobby.
"You thirsty? You comfortable like that? How's the pain? Just breathe, baby. I gotcha. Watch your step now. You hungry? We've got protein bars in the bag, unless you're cravin' something else. First things first, let's check in. Oh, I hope we can getcha in a private room. Let's see--oh damn, they sure are packed today, huh? Okay, how're you holdin' up? How's the pain, level of 1 to 10? Yep, got it, hold my hand. Just breathe through it. I gotcha."
Bless him. The man means well, but he's driving you freakin' crazy.
"Beau, I know. If you don't take a breath, I'm gonna pop you in the damn nose."
He tries not to smile at your grumpiness. "...Okay, I hear ya. Let's just get you into your room."
He rarely leaves your side during the entire labor, just to get you anything you might actually need. The radio at his belt occasionally goes off for work, but he apologizes, having forgotten to turn it off. He put Jenny in charge while he's gone.
"Let's just hope the precinct's still standing when I get back," he jokes. He finally turns off the radio and takes it off his belt, to your relief. And he returns his undivided attention to you.
Beau witnessed the birth of his daughter Emily, so he's no stranger to being in the delivery room. He even ventures past the curtain when your son is born, breathing air into his little lungs and letting out a powerful cry.
Beau laughs with tears in his eyes. "That's my boy."
When the nurses place him into your arms first, Beau supports your hold and brushes your sweaty hair back from your face. "Good job, honey. Good job."
"I know," you tease weakly.
Beau chuckles. He presses a lingering kiss to your forehead and looks down at the small bundle in your arms and his.
"We have a son," Beau says. His eyes are red and shining. "I have a son."
"You have a son," you nod. You look over at him and lean in for a kiss. He obliges you, and rests his forehead against yours afterwards.
Life is meant for moments like this, he thinks.
He's damn grateful it's with you.
Soldier Boy (Ben)
Readers of Strong as Blood in the BMD-verse will recognize some of this HC...
This day has been a long time coming, for both of you.
He smells like cigar smoke when he comes back into your recovery room. For which you have no doubt, Ben had been puffing away with Butcher and M.M. outside the hospital.
Ben was with you for most of the lead up to the birth, but you actually agreed that having him in the delivery room wasn't a good idea. He never did well with you in pain, and with his temper, he might just scare the shit out of the doctor and nurses.
He strides toward you though, when he enters the room. He lays a hand on your head and another on the baby's tuft of brown, downy hair.
"We have a daughter," you tell him, with a watery smile.
Part of him still twinges with disappointment. He didn't react well when he found out you weren't carrying a boy, his future son.
(You'd given him enough hell that he never brought up the subject again.)
But that all fades away when he looks down at his daughter's face.
He carefully sits on the edge of your bed, but he's suspended in time. His chest tightens in a way he's never experienced before.
It's almost like pain, but not. Not at all.
He brushes a thumb along the baby's soft cheek. He's almost hesitant to touch her, knowing how fragile she is.
"Beautiful, like her mother," he says at last. And he means it.
He earns your smile.
"Flatterer," you accuse. You know you look as wrecked as you feel. Somehow, none of that matter's whenever you look at your child's face.
You look over at Ben with a shining smile. His lips twitch. He leans in and meets your lips with a kiss, slow and deep and intimate in this quiet little room.
“You okay?” he asks you, after he pulls away. “Got everything you need?”
He’s become even more protective, of course, but also more attentive to you. Especially in the last few months of your pregnancy, seeing how uncomfortable you've become.
It warms you every time, when you consider how rough, how stoic, and how damn-near emotionally repressed he can be.
It seems that fatherhood is beginning to soften him, even before he begins. You quirk a smile at the thought, and at his question.
“Imagine pushing a super melon out of your dick. That’s how I’m doing,” you say cheekily.
He snorts a bit loudly at that, and you shush him, as if it wasn’t your fault he was laughing. He expects nothing less from you.
“But I’m okay,” you answer his second question. “All I need right now is you.”
Ben considers you, a slightly gentler smile curving his lips, and he nods.
“All right,” he says. In this moment, he realizes that his entire world is in this room.
He’d never admit it, but it's a terrifying thought, for a man who once had everything and nothing.
You unknowingly stop the path of his thoughts when you ask him, "Want to hold her for a while?"
Ben perks up at attention. He's a bit uncertain on how exactly to hold the baby, but he can't lose face and tell you that. So he just accepts the bundle when you place her in his arms.
As he looks down at a small face that already has some of his features, he inhales a faltering breath.
It's the first time you ever see true tears in his eyes, despite how much he resists. One manages to draw a path down his cheek.
“You know, you’re blessed to have my genes, sweetheart,” he says. It elicits a knowing scoff out of you. “But you’re also lucky as hell to have your mom.”
Ben looks up and finds the predictable well of tears forming in your eyes. His smirk softens around the edges.
“She’s the best damn woman you’re ever gonna meet,” he says.
AN: All right, I'll stop. 😭 I hope you enjoy this one, fluff overload and all! Who was your favorite this time: Dean, Beau, or Ben? 💜
