Ten years ago I stumbled upon a free The Dead Weather show and 3rd Man Record pop-up when I saw this long line forming in DTLA at The Regent (when it was still a hole in the wall dilapidated Old theater. I asked what’s up from some girl and she gave me the lowdown). I joined the line immediately. I shot the show with a Nikon D60 (ugh). Then after the show Jack White and band mates closely passed by me while exiting The Man Records before leaving. Jack and stood next to one another for a couple minutes. Ok so I know every other person has a theory about this but idc I’m still gonna talk about it. Pretty much everyone agrees that Will is giving mike a “wtf” look. Well that look reminded me of a song on his Spotify playlist (go fucking listen to it). I Can’t Here You by DeadWeather.

These lyrics definitely imply that Will sees through Mike. Maybe Will wants mike to out loud say he's sorry for ignoring him. Maybe, this is just like a wild guess that later in the season mike implies that he loves Will and will is like “I don’t want a confession I want an apology Mike.”

Books to Read if you liked POTC

Alright, I think a lot of us like reading, and it's safe to say there isn't enough nautical literature. Here are some (key word some) of the things I reccomend.

Bloody Jack

Actually a very long series beginning with Bloody Jack, the London orphan Mary Faber manages to secure a place working on a naval ship. It's a saucy series about a flirtatious young orphan turned sailor turned assistant to British Intelligence. Too much happens for me to describe, but it's my favorite series of all time. Each book is an adventure all to itself with new characters and settings. Jacky is a beautifully real character who makes human decisions and displays the cowardice anyone might. 10/10.

Deadweather and Sunrise

A trilogy of children's books I really loved. When Egg's family disappears in a freak accident, he's taken in by a rich family. Things are good...until someone tries to push him off a cliff. An action-adventure with a hint of what romance you can expect of children, it was a delightfully entertaining series. 9/10.

The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle

A short nautical adventure about a girl traveling alone on a ship where tensions are running high between captain and crew. Charlotte can either side with the charming figure of authority, or go against what she knows and side with the crew. Oh, yeah, and she gets convicted of murder. But...was it really? 8/10. I've read it twice and loved it, but others seemed not to like it as much. Still, I highly recommend.

Pirates!

It's honestly been a while since I read this one, though I remember liking it. The gist is that a girl running from an arranged marriage stumbles into a runaway plantation slave. They're both being hunted by a cruel captain, and must make it as pirates to escape. 7/10.

The Princetta

This is a strange one, gotta admit. Again, a girl runs away from an arranged marriage, only to be kidnapped by pirates. An honestly adorable captain goes to "save" her, but he finds it pretty hard, seeing as she hardly wants to go home. They begin to fall for each other, and it's pretty cute. The most interesting thing about the book is that it's set in a fantasy land. I'll admit, things get weird half way through. That's when the book really starts to flaunt the fantasy side of things. I seem to remember talking birds? Yeah, there were monsters and magic at the end, which actually made it rather disjointed. Still good, but I'm pretty sure I threw it across the room at one point. 6-7/10.

Anybody with other suggestions, please weigh in!
