I had planned to finish this into a full fledged animation, but a lot of the parts I did end up finishing just didnt live up to what I imagined…I waited for more motivation to happen, but it just didnt so HERES THE COLORED ANIMATIC CAUSE IM REALLLY HAPPY WITH WHAT I HAVE and ive sat on posting this for like a 2 weeks 😭 which is an eternity in my time

The explaining is much less expansive than in Dear My Dear just because I didnt work on it long enough to think every bit of it through. This is just a clean, nicer looking, and colored version of the very first storyboard.

I usually think about and put more effort into the little stuff while making the FINISHED bits since ive had so much more time to think about that in all the preppin n sketching.

BUT I liked the explaining format I did for Dear My Dear so im sticking with it!

The main idea for this was to do a study of Wingdings’ character from what we’ve been given, mainly focusing in on the expectations he puts on himself because holy shit the lyrics for this works so stupidly well it makes me mad LOOK AT THIS???

Wingdings and Sans holding hands as kids, before turning to a casket like appearance for adult WD. The flowers hes holding are pretty important too, Marigolds to represent grief, Lilys, new life, and Forget Me Nots for this lovely little line I found when looking up good flowers to use-

“a promise to always remember” ….stop that.

That actually also has a double meaning in this case too. 1, ofc the forgetting of Wingdings. But ALSO Wingdings forgetting something himself. Forgetting who he is. Almost like a Zuko ATLA situation.

Did you have a family?

Who knows where theyre parents are, but this is HAPPY TIME and we’re gonna assume they were so awesome and very kind but had to leave or went to a farm in the sky for whatever reason.

The colors here I had a lot of fun with. Their parents had warm colors but the boys have cold, still with warm accents. Its said they more or less raised each other being very independent as shown in the second part with them running out the door by themselves.

How was the view from the shelf? Did you ever believe in yourself?

Before, we started with the beginnings. The good things, the only thing Wingdings cares to even recall. Now we’re seeing his life really start to turn upside down- making first contact with The Player :D

He’s hesitant to reach out, but is intrigued, before getting a rushing revelation of his reality and how it isnt “real”

Rather than feeling crushing existential dread, he more feels pressured to be BETTER, to figure a solution, to do something. Thats what white represents here

WHAT KIND OF MILK WERE YOU?

We then switch to more examples of how Wingdings is taking this pressure (not well) The soft tones of yellow that were shown before, turn to way brighter, intensifying that feeling that he should be fine, he should be happy, drowning in success of being the Royal Scientist.

But he just desperately wants to just go back to a time of nice coldness.

The warm vs cold tones in this I had so much fun with, coldness is supposed to represent hostility usually, while warm is nice and happy. (same with Black and white. Scary, relieving,) But these points often contradict each other, its hard to tell what you’re feeling vs what you’re supposed to be feeling. Just like Wingdings!

WHAT KIND OF LIFE DID YOU LIVE THROUGH?

The white lab coats, the expectations, theyre on all of them. But Wingdings has essentially become his expectations.

He questions what life he wants to live, one being himself and alone (speaking in wingdings) or not himself and with company (speaking in a “normal” font) Still, he frames it in past tense as he believes theres no going back now, based on what he knows.

“One of the last happy moments they had together” stop that. (i cant find a link to when that was said but I know it was once, about them taking a photo together….)

DID YOUR LIFE RUN RICH WITH CALCIUM?

Compared to the childhood Wingdings remembered, heres the sadder, bleaker, more realistic version. He always thought they were laughing at him but… maybe they werent.

It doesnt matter now though. Because in the NOW, Wingdings has become consumed by his expectations of himself, seeing this has the “only option” to do the only thing that he feels will give his life meaning and purpose, establishing connection with THE PLAYER

But the grocery list goes on…

And yet life continues on without him, and his room is transformed into a more livable space now that someone is…living in it. Always hurts so much making the differences between Wingdings and Papyrus’ room. It feels like making something out of the man Wingdings COULD HAVE been. Because honestly thats just what Papyrus is,

Mr Everdeen's name theories

Ok so I listed all the options I had in mind for Mr Everdeen’s name, including the theories about him being related or close to the Covey. ✨Feel free to add more✨.

Ballad names : 

Although I love the ballads of Joe Hill, Tom Joad, Michael Collins and James Larkin etc I don’t think this is what she has chosen (cause yes she has decided his name and she better gives it to us sorry that sounds like a threat) because it’s not really related to his story. 

Annarchie from Annarchie Gordon : I saw someone on Tumblr or Reddit talking about this scottish ballad and how they could see Mr Everdeen being named after this song for it’s about a women, Jeannie, who “is to be married off to the wealthy Lord Saltoun, but she is in love with Annachie”. Contrary to Katniss’ parents who end up together, Jeannie marries the Lord. So she, and Annarchie, both die of a broken heart. Similar to Mrs Everdeen falling into depression when Mr Everdeen literally dies. 

Also, if he’s named Annarchie, wouldn't it be funny if Mrs Everdeen’s name was Peggy (because of the ballad of Peggy Gordon). 

Jack from Black Jack Davey : When I heard this song and its differents versions like “G**** Davey”, “The G**** Laddie” or “The G**** Rover”, I thought of Mr and Mrs Everdeen. I mean, look at the lyrics : 

He whistled and he sang 'til the green woods rang And he won the heart of a lady

It is also a ballad about a girl from a wealthy family falling in love with a man she’s not supposed to marry. There are multiple versions and in some, while she left her husband (and sometimes baby) behind her to go with her lover, this man leaves her. But in most of the versions I listened to they live happily together. Plus, in this ballad, the man sings and he’s a traveler, like the Covey. 

And in “Black Jack Davey” well, there’s also a color, so…….

Robin from Robin Hood : Many people have said this was one of their guesses, due to the obvious connection with the woods and the use of bow and arrows, but also because Robin is kind of a rebel. Just like Mr Everdeen. It’s also a name connected to nature since Robin is a type of bird. And god do I love birds images in THG. 

Ira from Ira Hayes : He was indigenous (an Akimel O'odham American) and was a marine who fought during the Pacific War. He suffered from PTSD and alcoholism. It’s not in relation to what happened to Mr Everdeen who wasn’t even born during the Rebellion and died in a mine accident, but Ira is also a common name in the South and it’s my hc that the Everdeens are part native. 

Covey name : ballad + color 

If Mr Everdeen not only has a ballad name but also a color, maybe Black for “Black Jack” as stated before. But others could be : 

Ash (for Gray as in Lucy Gray but also for the fire symbolism).

Russet (color of fall “often associated with sorrow or grave seriousness”).

Cornsilk (if he is Maude Ivory’s son or grandson, it could make sense to have another shade of an off-white color. Specially in contrast to Snow’s obsession for his white roses). 

Crimson (deep red, similar to Carmine so perhaps a link with Clerk Carmine Clade. And numerous birds have that name although not in America).

Copper (reddish brown, there's a venomous snake named “the eastern copperhead” in eastern North America that can be found in Appalachia). 

Or types of green like Erin (also an irish name), Myrtle (a dark green + Myrtus is a kind of flower). And obviously, Evergreen. I remember thinking it was a funny coincidence that Katniss’ favorite color was green when her family name was so close to Evergreen. Then TBOSAS came out and I thought maybe the Everdeens are descendants of the Covey but they have changed their names or were forced to. 

There’s Canary and Olive but too obvious imo. Maybe Beaver (color + animal so linked to nature and hunt), Chestnut (named after the nut of chestnut tree so nature and food), Fallow (a pale brown associated with fallow deer) or Fawn. 

I saw Claret (color of red wine) and the word has a nice ring so it stuck with me, even though I don’t see why specifically that could be a covey name for him. 

Traditional / nature names : 

I'd like to believe that naming Katniss and Prim after plants was a personnal thing for Mr and Mrs Everdeen, in relation to how they met. But since others in 12, especially in the Seam, have nature names perhaps Mr Everdeen has one too.

Ira / Hayes : traditional names in the South, also a link to Ira Hayes. 

Fawn : traditional appalachian name (and linked to the animal). 

Lafe : traditional name in the South, means “heir, descendant ; faith” (could refer to Lucy Gray and the Covey’s legacy, that Mr Everdeen passed down to Katniss).

Merle : traditional southern name and also a bird. 

Earl : traditional southern name which means "nobleman” or “warrior.”

Tanner : traditional southern name which comes from the profession of tanner as someone who made leather from animal hides. The name “is often associated with hard work and practicality, reflecting the practical and hands-on nature”. 

Chayton : originates from the Lakota word čhetáŋ, meaning “falcon” or “hawk.” 

Willow : traditional appalachian name and also linked to nature (now imagine toast babies named after him)

Harper : traditional appalachian name and a link to the musical instrument. 

Yarrow : traditional appalachian name, meaning “rough stream” but also associated with a wild herb and flowering plant.

Hunter / Archer / Forest (but let’s hope it’s not hahahahah)

Knowing that if it's a traditional name, she probably changed it a bit.

The Straw Hats As My Spotify Wrapped

Look, this post is very self-indulgent and chronically online. I understand it's probably just for me, and I'm okay with that. I've watched a lot of One Piece this year and have made it all the way from Fishman Island to where I'm snuggly in Act 2 of Wano. I'll provide my rationale, but I just wanted to share the random songs from my wrapped that remind me of the Straw Hats and a couple bonus people! I'll also throw in a specific lyric to show what I mean.

THIS BEING SAID: I think everyone should do this. All the people I follow and all mutuals. I would LOVE to see everyone's wrapped songs and pair it with their fave characters.

LUFFY Meet Me At Our Spot - THE ANXIETY, WILLOW

Okay, I labored over this one. There are a few songs that give me Luffy vibes for different reasons, but this one kind of just fits in the sense where I just...feel like it's the best vibe? It's about youth and forgetting about your worries by spending time with the person you care about. Luffy is that person for so many people and his crew means everything to him. It's like an escape, kind of like freedom. Idk. I also thought about Doombop by the Toxhards for him.

ZORO Heavy Is The Crown - Linkin Park

I know people have their opinions about this song's placement in LOL and the new Linkin Park singer, but I think this song is just kind of awesome for a war chant. I feel like you could make an AMV of any Zoro fight to this song and it would elevate it.

USOPP Talk Too Much - Renee Rapp 

This is for a few reasons, the obvious one being that Usopp is a talker. Through-and-through. But it's the anxiety that makes him talk so much, which Renee Rapp talks about in this song. It's definitely more of a love song, but still. I think it applies.

SANJI Home - Cavetown

OKAY OKAY so I know people have their opinions on Cavetown but everyone is going to have to pry this song out of my cold dead hands. When I watched Whole Cake earlier this year, my love for Sanji just grew exponentially. He's been through so much but he's still just such a beacon of light. He's kind, he's caring, even after all of the pain he's been put through. I feel like this song just kind of encapsulates that part of him that still feels vulnerable from the trauma.

CHOPPER HOT TO GO - Chapelle Roan 

This is mostly just because I saw an animation somebody did of Chopper doing the dance and I LOVED it. I always think of him and his cute little arms.

ROBIN Mic Check - Sophie Hunter 

Confession: this was my number one most played song this year, I've had a rough year lol. Why I chose it for Robin is kind of self-explanatory. She has been through so much and her 'I want to live' moment is very obviously iconic and impactful to the story and her character. What I like about this song is it's kind of like an acceptance of those negative, self-harming thoughts and behaviors that permeate all of us. It's kind of like a 'fuck it, we ball.'

FRANKY Na Na Na - My Chemical Romance

This man has built and rebuilt himself. His transformation from Cutty Flam to Franky is such an important shift for his character. I just feel like this song is kind of like an anthem to that, though it's more about when he became a punk in Water7. It's his own 'fuck it, we ball.' It's high-energy and I think really fits him.

JIMBEI Read My Mind - golda may cover (originally by The Killers)

Ah, the Fishman Island Arc. The things that came out of it about Jimbei's time in the Sun Pirates just made me love him even more. They fought so hard to save people from slavery and the injustices of the World Government, and I feel like the softer vibes of this cover feel like it would suit a flashback or reflection of that time.

This one took a minute and I debated a few other options. Bear Ghost controversies aside, this song kind of reminded me of a meta-analysis I read about Ace a while back relating to how he perceives himself and his general self-worth. It was a very good read and maybe if I can find it I'll link it here. Anyway, this song is basically like an ongoing panic attack.

I slaved over which song from my list would work for Law, and there are so many. This is the least self-indulgent, the rest that remind me of him are purely based off of a stupid oc roleplay that I do not care to elaborate on lol. This song for Law, though - WOW, I just think of the struggle he went through finally taking down Doflamingo. It wasn't planned, it wasn't what his goal was, but it was so important for him to heal those old wounds.

My first impression upon listening/watching the first time: I did not like it because of fugly white boy, Jack Harlow. I've never liked him, I've never liked his lyrics or his vibe. He is the type of overdone, asshole misogynistic male bullshit rap that had become unavoidable for a while.

I don't have ANY problem with JK singing about sex, having sex, shooting his jizz to the sky or any of that. BRING. THAT. ON. I don't care if the song is about phone sex or masturbating on camera or whatever.

What I do have a problem with is a white guy saying one girl (the black girl) is boring but two girls (add the white girl) is cool. I have a problem with the concept of having women lined up ready to fuck as some sort of thing to laud. And they are all dressed alike, so that means he doesn't care about them, they're all the same. Just another pussy to fuck. Diversity, yay. Not.

I will listen to the alternate version of the song but I will never listen to or stream the version with the rap.

I love Jungkook. I love that he's exploring his sound. He is creating music that speaks to him RIGHT NOW in his career. Do I like that he's put this song out? No. But that's my own personal opinion.

I can't speak for Jungkook, a 26 year old Korean man. He has his own systemic and structural oppressions to deal with.

I am not going to second guess him. He will see the feedback and take it into consideration, I don't have to guess on that, I know he will. They all see what goes on.

I wanted to give JK the benefit of the doubt with Seven. I don't have a problem with Seven the song, but its the hype surrounding it that is perpetuated by the fandom that he is being pushed in the western market. This song proves it.

All that being said, BTS and each individual member all exist within an industry that is heavily influenced by the western market.

As such, every song each member releases will add to the colors that the team will be able to use when they come back together as a group. No one will be surprised if BTS utilizes a hardcore western rapper in the future now. It is just one more color in the mix.

But as my friend says: "Shoot for another Coldplay....They don't need to be lifting people up. They need to find peers. Which is why I would support a Lady Gaga collab with Tae. Which is why Hobi asked for J Cole. That's a peer, man. I can handle Pharrell with them.

The benchmark for peers, to me, is another artist who has nothing to gain from collab'ing with them. An artist who holds their own, on their own, and collabs to let each participant have fun, shine, and grow a bit. Not some newbie who needs the boost. The only exception to that would be if they worked with one of their juniors at Hybe."

Her first single after her first album, that came out in 2020 just after graduating, before her gap year. Most of the songs were about her ex, max and so are some of the songs on her new album, while one of them is about mark.. but so is the single but one just happens to mention something about her relationship with Jack and she wasn’t even sure if she should use it but all her friends who she told about it said she should, so she is going to.

Which she shouldn’t have, or he shouldn’t have had the reaction he did.

There was a set of knocks on the door of her dorm room, but the certain sequence of knocks only belongs to the knuckles of one person. “Come in mark” she says and puts her phone down. He looked out of breath, afraid almost, Like he was running from something.

“Make what’s-” she stands up keeping pressure off her knee, but she doesn’t need the crutches anymore.

“Is it about me” he whispers and walks closer.

Her eyebrows raise a little bit, in shock on how this conversation could go either way.

“I… um… what” she says quietly, but a little louder then he was before.

“Is it about me” he asks again, she swallows harshly but nods slowly which he then pulls her into a tight hug.

“I’m sorry Belle- I’m so sorry I didnt mean to make you feel like that I like you I like you a lot. So much it almost hurts and makes me afraid of my own feelings” he admits and they both have small, light, tears in their eyes.

“Do you really?” She asks.

He runs his hand up and down her back before pulling back to look at her.

“So much”

They stare at each other for what seems like hours and just as he is about to ask her, a phone rings. It’s Luke, calling mark.

“Whats up” he asks. “Yea I’m with her, okay, bye”

“Wanna for a drive?” He asks and the two head out the door.

Jacks POV

6:15pm

I knew she liked to sing, but how did I not ever realize she liked to write and perform and produce her music, I didn’t even know she could play the guitar. So if I didn’t feel like shit before I do now. As the 9th song plays, my brain freezes.

“Same fears, same dreams, still trying to get my brother to like me”

Does she really think that?

I would call Luke, but the chances of them being together right now are high so Quinn it is.

“What’s up J-“

“Does she hate me or something?!” I exclaim.

“Woah dude- who are you talking about” he asks.

“What else could it be! I’m the only one she argues with- remember my rookie year when we wouldn’t talk for like.. weeks because of how busy we both were but she would always talk to you two”

“And you always talked to us, Jack I don’t know what’s going on with you two but you need to talk it out, when was the last time you spoke to her”

“When I left? I think maybe the night of that game she somehow came too”

“The day after her surgery- Jack that was like 2 weeks ago- okay you need to call her later tonight she’s out right now. Got it?”

“Ok” I take a breath I didn’t realize I was holding, then hung up.

“Can we talk about what happened earlier” she asks mark as they sit in his car in-front of their building.

“Yea, Uhm, I guess what I was saying is, I do, like you a lot, more then a friend” he admits quietly and she smiles back at him.

“Feelings are mutual, if you couldn’t tell” he chuckles and reaches for her hand, then holds it for a minute.

Meanwhile, Jack was flooding her phone with so many messages along the lines of “I’m mad at you” and “do you hate me”.

“You know you didn’t have to write a song to get me to realize I liked you”

“Yea well clearly I had to write one about Jack being a dick for him to realize he was one”

“Oh Calgary, yes I was waiting for that one. Are you okay?”

“Mhm, I’ll just… call him later I guess. Do you wanna stay with me?” She asks and he nods his head, then the two get out of the car and walk hand in hand to her dorm room.

“Oh I forgot my phone In The car I’ll be up in a second” he says and she heads up while he goes back to car, in the mean time, Anna sits at her desk while she receives a lovely call from Jack.

“Anna what the fuck, do you realize what you did” he says as soon as she answers.

“It’s okay, he’ll come around alright? I’ll get Luke to talk to him”

“Thank you” she sighs and the two lay down on her bed.

Hold up is beyonce at her best. her storytelling is incredible, the fun, chuggy, reggae inspired beat is so good, and lets her lyrics and voice shine.

This album really highlights beyonce uniue genre hopping ability that I genuinely don't think any other artist can beat. It feels like a great precursor to what we've seen on renaissance and cowboy carter, the way she can flit around different genres and make them her own

fuck yeah time for my favourite beyince track probably ever. The transition between songs and even genres from 'hold up' to don't hurt yourself' is a masterclass in storytelling.

I don't want to get into this whole debate over whether or not Jack Harlow's verse was offensive because Jack is for the black girlies and the queers and I'm black and queer. Let's leave it there

He's a white guy in a predominantly black space who is not only aware of this but is also less misogynoire-cist than a lot of these gay hating black rappers out here. I'll take Harlow over any day because I ain't tryna hear another homophobic rapper with internalized racism make caricature of black women and call it music.

Yall hate misogynists, I hate homophobic misogyny targeted at black queer women specifically even more and to me Jack is far from that. So may be there's a conflict of interest here somewhere caused by my intersecting identities.

And as a feminist I have a problem endorsing the slut shaming of men just as much as I disagree with the slut shaming of women.

How are we shaming this man over openly talking bout thoting.

And it's crazy cos we all be put here drooling over BTS openly talking bout wanting to be choked to death by these boys but God forbid a grown man says in his songs he is polyamorous.

Equality of genders means we can not slut shame men from expressing their sexual desires any more than we can slut shame women.

I think Jack is so real for those lyrics. Some men and even women do like to fantasize about getting with different women. And having female attention really is form of validation for lots of men. For a lot of them it's deeply tied to their self worth.

Women will always be the object of desire for straight men. But that don't mean any time they talk about that subject that they are objectifying women. That's like saying men hurt women for pounding them at night- sex is not inherently oppressive. It's the lack of consent, and the treating women as if all we are good for is sex that makes it oppressive.

As long as he isn't berating women calling us slurs or promoting the objectification of women he and I are good.

From where I sit all I heard was a man discussing and bragging about his insatiable lust- for that I'll recommend he speaks to his therapist. Jesus can't help him.

He has an appetite. We shouldn't slut shame him for that. Misandry is not how we are going to fix misogyny.

If a girl sang the same lyrics we would be tweaking right about now.

Plus these lyrics are even pretty tame in comparison. Lmho. Jack has always been vulgar and explicit. Jack's personality to me is why I like him to be frank. He's pushed for visibility and acceptance of the gay community more than any non queer rapper you can think of.

Tonight was your last time lending a hand to The 1975 before you set back on your own tour, for the past two shows, Matty had asked for you perform About You with the band on stage- an offer you couldn’t decline.

You remember London, 02, night two. You were an unannounced guest but honestly didn’t expect as huge of a welcome as you got that night, probably because you were no where near as interesting as Taylor swift from the previous show. You and Matty had always been a thing, platonically and sentimentally since Jack Antonoff introduced you two back ages ago. However, Matty would cowardly disagree.

First, he asked you if you’d like to be on a track for their latest album. He’d asked if you were willing to record your vocals for About You, and he’d ask when you were free.

And secondly, he was still in love with you. Whatever had been brewing inside him for the past- god knows how long had finally eaten him up from the inside and he was done being subtle. He was petrified that this tender desire to be with you would eventually suffocate him- he was done avoiding writing about you. The moment he swore to George about being earnest, he knew it was completely over for him. He’d tried to love you once. Though that was interrupted by a round of horse therapy and two rounds of tours from both parties- he didn’t know if it’ll end the way it always did. And something in side you was clawing at your rib cage too, curling around you heart and spreading infectiously under the radar.

On your second night, in Birmingham you felt the warmth of his stare prying its way into your mind, and down to your heart. You’d spent the entire night and the rest of the next day, until now- trying to tend to the animal of feelings that had scratched its way out from your chest. How long has it been like this? How long had you tamed your love for him and why now?

It all made sense now. The way he’d make up for your lost time together right after coming home from tour, in between shows and whatever he was up to. The desperation in his eyes when he’d ask if you’d come perform for them and this new doomed earnestness he’d adopted for the album. You stared blankly at the lights illuminating the stairs from the hallway to the wings, your earpiece rested around your neck, fidgeting with your hands and picking on the bottom of your top. Why now?

Were all your anonymous love songs secretly for written for Matty? Did your subconsciousness realise what you had going before you ever saw clear enough? Did you mean everything you’d supposedly said about him in your music?-

“Hey! You’re up!”

One of the stage hands had motioned for you towards the wings, that frail white door waiting for you to open it. You couldn’t drop your thoughts about Matty- you were fucked.

Pressured by the song, already crescendoing through the speakers, you made your way through the dark towards the door, opening it quietly as you walked onto the dimly lit stage. You made your way past Jamie and George, picking up a microphone set on a stool next to a pillar- exactly like you did the previous night.

You started to think that the song was too optimistic for a man who couldn’t make up his mind sometimes. And indeed Matty had never given up on you since he first realised that he was in love with you- only now were your paths beginning to cross. Making your way down to Matty, sitting on the edge of the top half of the stage looking down at him, you saw that same flare in his eyes that had landed you in an entanglement of intoxicating emotions.

His eyes were fixated on you, and maybe you liked the way he looked from this angle but whatever it was- it made your heart race exhaustingly, more than any rush of performance adrenaline could ever accomplish.

Matty could see the shock in your eyes as his inevitable exposure had crossed you. He saw the way you were looking at him even through the strobing lights on stage and the unforgiving roar of crowd. You microphone had now been turned off and switched to earpiece transmission only. It was then out of carnival instinct you picked it up and held it right against your chest-

You blurted out like a bittersweet whisper which passed straight into Matty’s earpiece. He looked at you equally stunned as if his collection of ‘almost confessions’ were laid out right on your body.

Without even asking he walked the distance towards you, closing the gap between you as he stood before you. His eyes never left yours and during a fleeting moment of confessions, he snaked his hand up around you neck, bringing you down into a kiss. You were now leaning over the side of the stage, and Matty was on the tips of his toes- the rest of the band were still going to your surprise but the rest of the arena had just lost their collective minds. He kissed you. Tender and sweet. It was rotten work to love you but he did it anyway as he stained your heart in return.

Matty pulled away from the kiss, taking both your hands and pulling you down to his level of the stage. His hands were now cupping you face as you stood in front of him, his back still to the audience as John’s sax solo faded into the background.

‘Will you be mine?’ He said, a whisper with the volume of a thousand speakers despite the fact you could barely hear him over the crowd. One nod of the head became two- and soon a million times more as he brought you into a kiss once again.

AN: hope that wasnt a confusing read!! I kinda lost track of where i was going with this one but it made some sort of sense in the end :)

winter winds - FLIPSIDE DAVESPORT!!!!!!! this is self explanatory im pretty sure but uhm. dave dealing with learning to love properly

roll away your stone - dsaf 3 evil route!!! woo. this song to me describes jack's slow acceptance of henry's influence ("and darkness is a harsh term, don't you think? yet it dominates the things i see") and davetrap's trust of jack leading up to his demise ("don't leave me alone at this time, for i'm afraid of what i will discover inside", "and you, you've gone too far this time, you have no reason nor rhyme, with which to take this soul that is so rightfully mine")

white blank page - reality dave's feelings towards jack, the obsession. three cheers for toxic zombie yaoi!! anyways this song is rlly good at portraying that for me. "you desired my attention, but denied my affections, my affections, so tell me now, where was my fault in loving you with my whole heart?" ITS SO DAVE CODED.

i gave you all - henry's major influence of how dave turned out and how davetrap's relationship with legacy reminds him of henry. trust me on this one guys.

little lion man - jack and dave's relationship to me, how jack (imo) will lash out say things he doesn't mean ("i really fucked it up this time, didn't i, my dear?") self explanatory enough.

timshel - THE KENNEDY FAMILY!!! this is so the kenendy siblings to me. theyre all different and yeah they have their fights but they stick together ("and you are not alone in this, as brothers we will stand, and hold your hand") i feel like the first verse is more dee-coded to me- "and death is at your doorstep, and it will steal your innocence"

thistle & weeds - MY FAVORITE!!! anyways uhm. dsaf 3 for SURE. more good route to me. jack sort of being torn between what to choose, the flipside crew advising him what to do ("but plant your hope with good seeds, don't cover yourself with thistle and weeds" (thistle and weeds implying henry here)) etc etc. but also dave in a way?? like how jack could leave him ("alone in the wind and the rain, you left me, it's getting dark, darling, too dark to see, and i'm on my knees, and your faith in shreds, it seems", "i know you have felt much more love than you've shown")

I'm going to try to explain this as coherently as I can. I want Jungkook to do his thing, but at the same time, it is bothering me so much that his thing seems to be basic, crass songs about sex. Like, brother in Christ, there is a nuanced, fun, genuinely sexy way to do explicit songs that doesn't read thoughtless, fuckboi nonsense. Hello, "My Time," get off the floor, my love?! I hated Seven, but 3D is making me feel like I was harsh on her. At least Latto has flow and brings energy. WHY, for the love of all things holy, did anyone green light Jack Harlow rapping about AGB????!!!! I was LIVID because have we not had enough of white men fetishizing Asian women. And there weren't even any Asian women in the MV!!! And then the optics of the women being lined up beside him one by one. WHO OKAYED THIS???? The members as a group and in their solo work have dabbled with explicit lyrics, sex, etc. But it has never felt like this "fuck it to hell, I wanna be famous and I'll do it in the easiest way possible, lemme talk about champagne confetti." Are you serious??? This man gave us "Still With You." And I do hold Jungkook responsible for a fair amount of it. He's 26 and obviously gets final say on the final product. I get that he wants to be seen as a grown up, but all I'm seeing is the equivalent of the Nickelodeon/ Disney kids going ham to break the image. This ain't it, okay? And if the rumours I'm hearing about his EP are true, it's going to be a hard pass for me. I have never recoiled from a song that came from BTS or a member the way I have with Jungkook's singles so far. I'm aghast at his potential (which he has showcased so much in past) being squandered on this run-of-mill, brainless, nonsense. Sure, he'll get the numbers, it's going straight to radio and this fandom is bleeting in unison like sheep possessed. But he's lost a lot of my respect for him.

you expressed yourself well and I can sympathise with your negative feelings and where they’re coming from… I honestly am just as shocked about harlow’s rap being greenlit both from the team behind but also from jungkook himself. it makes me wonder once again how much he was actually involved in everything simply because I hate the thought of him being aware of the lyrics and letting them through on the nod… you can very much make a light, fun, sexy song without putting problematic phrases and innuendos in it. again, it all comes back to nuance in pretty much all aspects of this whole song discussion. wanting to be seen as mature/ as a grown-up also means taking responsibility for everything that’s put out in your name (with your consent ofc). we could probably talk about this for hours on end though and unfortunately it doesn’t change much cause as you said at the end, there’re enough people who simply do not care about all of this, blindly support their fave artist and want to vibe. I saw that 3D (edit: the version with JH) is currently number three on spotify global right after Seven, so yeah. numbers equal success, success means the support and demand is there, and so the chances are high that he will keep going in this direction, I’m afraid. but let’s wait for his album, he’s been full of surprises, maybe he’ll surprise once more, and this time in a more positive way, again

Assigning Just Dance coaches some of the Dutch songs I want in Just Dance

Wanderlust: Automatisch ("Automatic") by FLEMMING. Just incredibly good vibes, fits with his style.

Sara: Dromendans ("Dream Dance") by Vinzzent. First considered this for Wanderlust but I think Sara would also be great for this one! It's a bit goofy but I think she'd really just shine in this one as like, happy and having such a view of the wonder of the Danceverses

Mihaly: Wit Licht ("White Light") by Jeroen van Koningsbrugge. An epic song that I think fits with Mihaly's connection with the flow. Alternatively, because I could not fully decide: Hou Me Vast ("Hold Me") by MEAU

Brezziana: now the problem here is that there's none in the playlist that really fit the music style she usually gets paired with. However, in terms of message: Hoger Harder Verder ("Higher Faster Further") by 3JS.

Jack: a curveball: Oceaan ("Ocean") by Racoon, or Harder Dan Ik Hebben Kan ("More Than I Can Handle") by BLØF.

Specifically a Jack and Wanderlust duet: Pak Maar M'n Hand ("Just Take My Hand") by Nick & Simon. A good song about not having to do everything yourself and sharing your struggles with others so you can overcome them together, featuring such lyrics as "you can't carry the world on your own" and "it's not a problem if you want to prove yourself time after time, but you can't do it alone". And as a bonus, it's a really nice parallel to their gold move in Majesty. This song is so Wanderrose coded to me I might translate the full lyrics at some point.

Cygnus: Ladada (Mon Dernier Mot) by Claude. Tbh just look up a translation of the song. And it works with his dance style too! Could honestly also be used for Jack, but idk I think I like it better for Cygnus.

Rasputin and the Bride: Mannenharten ("Men's Hearts") by BLØF, Nielson. I think it would be a pretty good song that could take place after Sweet But Pyscho and IAMOM.

The coaches from Wet Tennis and Woof: Sterrenstof ("Stardust") by De Jeugd Van Tegenwoordig. Idk I think they should get to vibe to DJVT songs I think they'd have fun with it

Bittersweet song at the end of the current storymode arc (like, when we stop the main arc with the Just Dancers and maybe get a new cast in the next storymode): Treur Niet (Ode Aan Het Leven) ("Don't Grieve (Ode To Life)") by Diggy Dex, JW Roy. I'm not explaining this any further just. If you know the song you know what I mean by this. If not, go listen to it and/or look up the lyrics.

Chapter 8: It Is Revealed That He Has No Plan

Sung stood menacingly above his bed like a sleep paralysis demon. He looked slightly uncanny, his face completely visible for the first time since they'd met. His eye sockets were dark voids with a white slit in place of a sclera, his ears were slightly bigger and pointed upwards. Jack quickly acclimated himself with Sung's inhuman features as he noticed similarities between them. Slim figure, messy brown hair, Sung was kind of right about them looking alike. That wasn't important right now but he'd noticed nonetheless.

"What do you mean 'what have I done to you'? You were the one giving me amnesia!" He couldn't believe Sung had the nerve to ask him that. Although, to be fair, it was Sung's first time sharing a vessel too.

"And did you look like that the whole time?" He added.

"Yes, of course I have!" Sung shouted, completely exasperated, like Jack was the first night he experienced possession symptoms. "And what I mean is you somehow made me nervous while we were busking tonight! How? Why?" 

"Dude, I get nervous doing most things." Jack defensively retorted. "I'm just pretty good at hiding it." 

"Doth my nubs bequeath me? You never brought that up when we discussed the game plan!" His audacity stained every word as he pointed at Jack.

"I didn't think it'd be a problem!" 

While trying to recall exactly what was discussed that night, Jack suddenly remembered a crucial detail he hadn't thought about since it happened. 

"And while we're on shit we never brought up on game plan night did you ever actually get my notebook pages back from Stan?" 

"What notebook pages?" Sung asked innocently. 

Jack took a deep breath upon hearing the careless response. Freaking out would not help right now.

"The pages with my song in it! Y'know the one with the stupid title?" Sung still looked clueless.

"The thing you gave to my brother, like the day after you possessed me?" 

Sung made a low humming sound like he was trying to remember it. 

"Strange, it's not coming to me, perhaps you need to be a bit more specific." 

Was he messing with him? He couldn't have forgotten about that so easily, considering how eager he was to show it to Stan in the first place. 

"Maybe it's 'stupid title' will jog my memory. What was it called again?" Sung's eyes darted around the room, trying not to give away his intentions. 

"Dude, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Just tell me what you did with it." 

"Must I repeat myself further? I told you I have no clue! I'm going to need more information than that." His laughter made Jack even more suspicious, but it was equally likely Sung just forgot. After all his memory was naturally garbage. Jack's cheeks turned a slight red as he let out a long sigh, knowing he'd have to play along and utter the embarrassing title. 

"It's the one with the synthesizer bass line, one actual lyric, there's like a million layers to it, there's that break in the middle for a small drum solo..." 

He'd walked right into it. Sung was eagerly waiting, his hand crudely covering up a sly smile. There was no turning back now.

"It's called 'The No Pants Dance'." 

"Thank you!" Said Sung, grinning with pride as he retrieved the papers from under Jack's bed. "Of course I got it back after I realized you were unhappy with it, but I must admit the shame at such a fun track is uncalled for and confusing to say the least." 

Jack snatched it from Sung's fingerless gloves and safely returned them to one out of a pile of notebooks he had scattered across his desk.

"Getting back on track, maybe if I wasn't blacked out I wouldn't be subconsciously giving you second hand anxiety." 

"And what do you suppose we do about that?" Sung asked, not so subtlety eyeing the stack of notebooks. Jack immediately leaned against the desk, effectively blocking Sung's view and hopefully curtailing his fascination.

"Couldn't we just do what we did today but in reverse? Like, I could be in your head while you have the vessel?" 

Sung was very apprehensive about the suggestion. 

"I'm unsure. Humans are quite fragile and I wouldn't want to inadvertently harm you in any unforseen way."

Even though Sung was just being considerate, he didn't like to be referred to as fragile.

"However, I have underestimated you before. I didn't think you'd be able to handle consciously sharing the vessel today, and you somehow gave me prolonged fear during our performance." Sung was thinking out loud at this point, weighing the options  and evidence. It was looking more possible by the second.

"We might just be able to do that."

At that moment they both realized the game plan wasn't as thorough as it should've been. Due to their general inexperience with each other and their particular situation, they hadn't actually made a full plan. Neither of them knew what to do, so even though it slightly terrified Jack, they were content to throw ideas at the wall and see what stuck.

It was hard to describe. He saw everything through Sung's eyes, all three of them. It felt like he was having a really vivid dream. The kind of dream you have no control over, yet you're still aware that it's a dream. It was completely surreal being a passenger in his own body. 

"Where are we headed again?" Jack asked, unsure how he did because he didn't have access to his mouth at the moment. 

"To the High Top Express, my personal spaceship." Was this the same ship that crashed into the woods, or had he gotten another ship here?  He figured it was the crashed ship. If Sung had gotten a functional space ship here, it would have made national news. 

"It's been through hell and back, but it's never been out of commission for long, which is honestly pretty shocking considering that incident on the Communitas." 

Jack shuddered thinking of what he could have possibly meant by that, but the fear was quickly replaced with confusion as to how he shuddered. He saw a light in the distance, growing brighter and brighter as Sung walked through the forest. He recognized it as the ship as they approached it. It was less on fire than it was the last time he saw it. They'd obviously been fixing it since the crash-land. Sung stopped in front of the hatch like door as he grabbed the handle. 

"Are you sure about this, human?" Sung asked cautiously.

"For the millionth time, my name is Jack" he paused before answering the question. Was he? He was never really sure about anything, about his songs, about his nerves, about his life. Strangely, he didn't feel like that right now. There was more than the nerves now. There were exciting possibilities, new adventures to be had, and a familiar core of optimism. For the first time in his life, he was ready. 

"I don't think I've ever been more sure."

Little Freak

Did you dress up for Halloween? Little Freak is a sweet song, Harry is thinking about an ex and looking at the relationship with distance. It has many references to Taylor. It was written when he was in Tokyo Oct-Dec 2018. Taylor had her last Reputation concert 21 November, 2018 in Tokyo.

Little Freak was written on bad rental gear, he said it went through 19 versions before finally being on Harry's House. Ophelia is possibly written at the same time, it references Tokyo. TBSL is similar, references Taylor in a similar way, but Harry said it was written in Bath later.

To Howard Stern, Harry said if a song didn't make a previous album why would it make this one, however noted 2 songs on Harry's House are older, but they fit sonically on the album. There is another great post here.

Lyrics

Little freak, Jezebel You sit high atop the kitchen counter Stay green a little while You bring blue lights to dreams

Jezabel is possibly a reference to 'Slut!' Taylor also references this line in the opening of the Bejewelled MV "the prince would not have anything to do with that Harlot again."

Harry references kitchens in Haylor songs Sunflower Vol 6 (kiss in the kitchen), Two Ghosts (fridge light washes the room white), here it is a device to remember a calm intimacy with his muse

A Blue film is an adult film, the last line is a wet dream.

Starry haze, crystal ball Somehow, you've become some paranoia A wet dream just dangling But your gift is wasted on me

The starry haze, crystal ball is a reference to the Ready for it...? MV. Which is about Harry, he also referenced it in To be so Lonely. Ready for it also references a sexual dream "In the middle of the night, in my dreams (eh) / You should see the things we do (we do), baby" It was an impressive tour open too.

The paranoia refers to the complicated nature of their relationship (Fine Line, DBATC) he is asked about her a lot and while their songs imply they interact, they are almost never seen together so they may work hard at that.

The wet dream, just dangling, to me means unfinished business with her that he doesn't know how to resolve.

He feels her musical gifts are wasted on him, (they aren't Harry, you're the best muse)

This producer video comments on the use of a Linn drum machine as something Jack Antonoff uses on Taylor Swifts songs. (26:30)

This verse refers to another Haylor Reputation song, Delicate, which also tells of sexual tension. However, here Harry uses the song title to flatter her and adds that he is not feeling possessive, just thinking of her.

This verse refers to Taylor and has links back to their time dating.

Taylor does dress up for halloween, like this 2014 1989-era Pegacorn. Harry and Taylor were also both in Tokyo a few weeks after Halloween

The spilt beer is often thought to be this photo of him with Karlie Kloss on a fashion persons yacht. It looks like water in front of him but I like to imagine this is it.

Blank Space MV Taylor took a golf club to a classic luxury car. Harry has many nice classic cars. In the Red era when they first dated Taylor had a trampoline on her tennis court and it also featured in the 22 MV.

in the close he asks maybe we'll do this again, I interpret that as maybe be together again one day. Olivia, WITW and Someday maybe have similar messages.

Above I have a grab from Miss American, which was filmed during the Rep tour, in most of the back stage, home or recording scenes she is wearing a variation on a tracksuit and ponytail.

Red wine and ginger ale mixed is a seltzer type drink, here it is an 'easter egg' as there are red wine references in a lot of Haylor songs: DBATC (My time, my wine..), Clean (You're still all over me like a wine-stained dress I can't wear anymore), Maroon (The burgundy on my T-shirt when you splashed your wine into me), Olivia (This isn't the stain of a red wine, I'm bleeding love) and Grapejuice ("Give me something old and red")

In the last verse Harry has started reflecting on how things ended, he acknowledges he disrespected Taylor. This may refer to the time in Now that we don't talk.

Harry broke his foot playing football while on tour in Ireland in October 2015, this is close to the time period in NTWDT, Harry includes a reference to Karma, Taylors maybe album, evential song from that time period.

Harry has a birthmark on his back so many think this means he has and will never turn his back on her. (I have seen another fandom say this means they were not intimate, dude- strangers on the internet can link to it)

to me the birthmark is not literal, I think she never saw his full self because of his age & the band. He spoke to both Howard Stern and Zane Lowe about all of his adult decisions being made as part of a group from 16-20. It was in a context of leaving One Direction. To me this emotional coasting (he says he was 'away' in TBSL) was a factor in the events of NTWDT and Is it over now?

But both of these are true, he won’t turn his back on her and he wasn’t his full self then.
