Although you wouldn’t expect it, the world-weary “These Days” was written by Jackson Browne when he was a 16 year old kid. By 1967, the track originally known as “I’ve Been Out Walking” was lent to Nico to record for her debut solo album, Chelsea Girl.

Browne contributed two additional songs to the record and plays the iconic fingerpicking guitar part here.

The song became a classic, being most recently re-popularized on the acclaimed Royal Tennenbaums soundtrack.

I’ve been a bit MIA lately, school year kicking my butt. Been playing plenty of records, but posting about them has been low on a very long priority list… but I’ve got a moment to catch my breath, so I’ll feature one of my last summer acquisitions! Consolers of the Lonely is the second Raconteurs album, one that I enjoyed but didn’t give that much thought to when it came out. After I listened to it in my Jackathon in the leadup to Entering Heaven Alive, it grabbed me in a big way, and I started my obsession 14 years late! Every song hits. There’s rock, drama, Britpop vocal harmonies, and the sound is top notch. Someone was selling this gorgeous 10th anniversary Vault edition for a nice price on Facebook, so I snagged it. It’s been stuck in my head ever since. It has quickly climbed the ranks in my mind from a mid-tier Jack White album to what the kids are calling “S Tier.” (I had to Google it too.) Today I finished a digital portrait of #iggypop At first I drew him and and painted him by digital I tried to create something like this kind of painting that you could find above the chimney in a boudoir. You read your favorite book with a glass of your favorite wishky and you see Sir Iggy Pop The song, from him, is #sunday from his excellent collaboration with #joshhomme charismatic leader of #queensofthestoneage.
