You don’t miss the way Neil wipes sweaty palms on the front of his jeans, eyes darting to the filming schedule for the week, eyes wide like a deer in headlights. Ever since you both had started filming this movie he hadn’t been nervous, in fact he was a natural, which you appreciated considering you had been doing this your whole life. That’s why his behavior has caught you off guard, the script pages fanning against your fingers as you flip through them in search of the lines you’d have to brush up on this week.
“What’s up with you?” your voice comes out sharp, startling him as he jumps to turn and spot you in your director chair, legs crossed, and script open on your lap.
“Nothing, I’m fine” he says unconvincingly and it almost makes you snort considering an actor should be much better at lying than he is.
“No you’re not, take a seat Bambi” you tease, watching the doe eyed boy nervously approach his own director chair beside you and take a seat. You know he hates when you call him that but someone so innocent looking like him exploring the world of acting on unsteady legs reminded you of the sweet deer.
“I swear I’m fine” he says, stretching his fingers over his thighs, looking anywhere but you as he clearly battles with whatever inner thoughts currently had him this on edge.
“Neil, I’ve been doing this a long time. So let’s skip whatever this is and get to the part where you confide in your experienced friend” his cheeks burn red, taking your words in a context you don’t quite understand yet, because he was currently freaking out about the scene scheduled for tomorrow.
“It’s about tomorrow” he nearly whispers, causing you to lean closer to make sure you don’t miss what he says.
“What about it?” you ask, eyebrows furrowed together as you close the script and plop it on the ground beside your chair. A nervous hand meets the back of his neck, massaging the flesh there as he attempts to find his words.
“I-I’ve never filmed a sex scene before” he whispers again and you can’t help the giggle that bubbles past your lips, shocked that of all things you two had already filmed together this was the one that shook him the most. “Please, it’s not funny”
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry. It’s just-, usually the men I act with look forward to those scenes the most” you offer, trying to calm your laughter down. Neil shakes his head so you reach to place a hand on his arm, offering as much comfort as you can.
“I’ve never done one before and if I’m being honest the guy who went to an all boys high school wasn’t actively getting laid in college” he tells you and this is something new about him that you hadn’t known, it could explain why he was still so nervous and sweet around women unlike some people in this industry.
“You have… right?” you find yourself asking and Neil wears a panicked expression.
“Yes, yes, I’ve been with a woman. Just not on camera, not like this” he gestures to the script, knowing the scene the two of you were to perform tomorrow was a high stakes passionate moment between lovers.
“Take a breath Perry, it’s easier than you’d think” you assure him, squeezing his arm once more before letting go.
“How could it be easier?” he asks, exasperated and little shaken up about this whole thing. He’s nearly positive that if he had known there was a sex scene he may have never taken the job.
“It’s easier because not only are we professionals but we’re friends. You can’t look at it like an intimate moment being watched by an audience, you have to be comfortable and trust me” you tell him, reaching for your water bottle. Neil lets the words sink in as you take a sip, eyeing how some of the water dribbles along your lip and your tongue darts out to catch it.
“Friends don’t kiss each other” he says with the shake of his head and you snort, twisting the cap back on your water bottle.
“In this business they do, it’s nothing, it’s friendly!” you assure and Neil can’t help but chuckle, finding a semblance of amusement in this minor crisis of his.
“Well if you don’t remember, this is only like my third acting job that isn’t theater” Neil says, leaning forward to rest his elbows on his knees and rub his hands together. You watch as his biceps flex under that thin material of his shirt and gulp lightly.
“Alright, here’s the deal. After filming today, come to my place, I’ll cook you dinner and we can…. practice the scene. Make sure you’re comfortable” you suggest, wringing your hands together and hoping the boy doesn’t take it in some weird way. You had been doing suggestive scenes a long time, long before it was probably even appropriate, so this should be nothing. How hard could it be to make Neil comfortable with you?
“Okay, that sounds good. Thank you” he says and you crack a smile even though you were suddenly the one who was nervous. There was nothing normal about cooking dinner for a man and practicing fake sex but then again nothing about this job had been normal so far. So you nod your head and prepare for the worst.
“Yeah, anytime”
Tumblr media
It’s taking everything in you to tear your eyes away from them nearly empty casserole dish, the very one you and Neil had just picked at in order to delay the next part of this hangout. You felt silly even making it considering it was the only thing you ever learned how to cook and you had to double the recipe to feed more than one person. It was even more embarrassing digging through your kitchen for more than a single serve dish to cook it in.
“The food was great” Neil offers and it springs you into action, shoving the chair away from the table as you collect the dishes and start towards the sink.
“Thanks, I’m not much of a cook” you say, smiling as he meets you at the sink with his own used plate. He smiles back as you take it from his hands, setting it in along with the other stack.
“I brought my script, you know, just incase. Even though there isn’t a lot of dialogue” he says and you giggle, realizing your were more comfortable with him than you had previously thought.
“Great, why don’t we go to my room” you sound silly saying it, like a teenage girl unsure of how to get a boy in her bedroom but Neil doesn’t even flinch as he nods at you and waits to follow in your direction.
You use the opportunity to snag your empty wine glasses and the rest of the bottle from dinner to bring with you, flashing him a quick smile over your shoulder as he follows you up the stairs and to your room. He’s ever the gentleman as you set the glasses on your dresser, pouring fresh glasses as he eyes the minimal belongings around the room.
“Cozy” is all he says and you smile, handing him a glass while sipping from your own.
“Temporary, I travel too much for work to ever get comfortable in one place” the notion surprises Neil, considering he stayed in the same place for nearly his entire life. Even through all of college and into his adult years he still hadn’t even spent as much time out of Welton as he did in it.
“Sounds lonely” he suggests as he moved to sit on the end of your bed and you tip back the rest of the wine before joining him.
“Maybe, but I’m used to it” you tell him, taking the script from his hands and opening to the pages. If you were to survive this, you’d have to be as professional as you could.
“Alright coach, how do we do this?” he asks, lacing his fingers and stretching his arms out in front of him. You chuckle, shaking your head lightly at the boy who was so nervous about this earlier.
“Well the beauty of a sex scene is we have creative freedom. You only have a few marks you have to hit, other than that there isn’t much direction to follow” you explain, holding out the script to show how the script indicates where they kiss, where their hands should be, certain sounds, in only various places.
“Okay so make it your own but also hit the marks” he nods, glancing at the script as he lets the new information sink in.
“I find it best to count and also pace it as if it was real. So from the moment we first kiss, count to five and then put your hand on my cheek” you explain, pointing to the written direction on the page and Neil nods.
“Okay, so it starts with us at the end of the bed and I lean in for a kiss” Neil says, holding the adorable glasses he wore up to his eyes. You smile as he drops them back down into his front shirt pocket again.
“If it makes you more comfortable we can practice, I promise I don’t bite and I haven’t been told I’m a bad kisser” you shrug and he bellows a laugh, moving the script from out of between you both. He was nervous earlier but he also liked you, thought you were funny, and if you were this willing to work with him there was really nothing he should be afraid of.
“Tell me if I do something wrong” he whispers, ducking in close and tracing the tip of his nose along the bridge of yours. You suck in a sharp breath, unprepared for his causality about the whole thing.
Slowly you tip your head up, eager to chase his lips with your own and finally, just as in the script he meets you, unpracticed lips fumbling together as he kisses you like it’s real. You kiss back slowly, sighing softly as his hand meets your cheek and slowly slides into your hair, fingers lacing through the locks and grabbing a fistful to steady your mouth against his own. If Neil was truly unexperienced it would not be this good.
Following the next part of the script he slowly eases you onto the mattress, chest pushing against your own until your head meets the soft cushion of your bed. For once you’re thankful your character doesn’t have to do much of the work, you just let out soft sounds of delight as his lips trail down your neck and meet the front of your chest. You’re not even sure if you’re acting anymore when you roll your hips into his own.
“We can stop here” he mutters against your skin but you feverishly shake your head, hands meeting his face and keeping him where he was.
“No, it’s okay. We’re gonna see a lot of each other tomorrow, better to just get it out of the way” you urge and he nods, continuing to kiss your neck as he starts shoving your dress up the sides of your hips just like it is in the script.
“Tell me if you get uncomfortable” he mutters, lips kissing along the fabric on your chest and stomach, inching his way down.
This would be the scene where he removed your panties, the camera would be just on your face as you moaned out words of pleasure, as if he was actually giving you head. Ever the actor though, Neil has found himself with his arms hooked under your legs and head awfully close to your underwear where he can undoubtedly see the wet patch beginning to form there. You both freeze, realizing fairly quickly this wasn’t a scene surrounded by a hundred workers, that you were alone and he had made you wet.
“I-I’ve never” Neil suddenly says and your cheeks tint pink, hands already reaching to shove your dress back down and over your hips. “Could I?”
“What?” you can’t help the shocked voice that leaves you as the brunette boy gives you a sheepish look.
“I know we don’t actually have to but I really am comfortable with you and if you’d let me?” he suddenly feels like an idiot, coming over here for help and then nearly begging to eat you out. You can practically see the thoughts racing in his head and you slowly pull your skirt back up.
“Go ahead” you urge and despite the initial shock Neil doesn’t let it falter him as he slips his fingers into the hem of your underwear and slowly begins to slide them down your legs. If you had known the night would turn out like this you probably would’ve never invited him over but it was already too late, you wanted him hopefully as much as he wanted you.
“Just, make sure I do it right” he says and before you can respond with some sort of agreement his tongue darts out and glides through your folds, a squeak escaping the back of your throat as your head drops back against the mattress.
Neil realizes the reaction you made is a good one so he dives right in, relishing in the taste of you as he licks and sucks, exploring all the new parts of a female body he’d never understood before. When his nose nudges against your clit a loud moan break free from your lips, making Neil’s eyes widen as he dares to do it again in order to confirm that was the spot to get such a reaction out of you. When he realizes it was no mistake he moves to suck hard on that one spot and your eyes nearly roll back in your head.
“Shit Neil, you really sure you haven’t done this?” you pant, whimpering as he slides a finger into you. Neil hums in response, the vibration of it tingling up through your whole body. He doesn’t pull away to give a verbal answer and instead speeds up his movements that you begin to feel the coil in your stomach tighten.
It’s when he slips a second finger into you and he moans against your clit do you feel your orgasm near the edge. On instinct your hand flies down to tangle into his hair, thighs slowly tightening around him as his movements never cease. Your other hand is wound so tightly into your sheets you miss the sly look he gives when he realizes you’re about to finish. With one last pump of his fingers and harsh suck to your clit you’re cumming swiftly, tightening around his hand as he continues to coax the orgasm out of you. The whines that leave your mouth are delectable and when your body finally relaxes against the mattress he pulls away, a happy smile on his face as his heart thrums in his chest.
“How was that for practice?” he says, breaking the silence, and you laugh quickly. At least he was able to be confident in this situation.
“I’d say we were a little too professional” you respond, breath coming out in heavy pants and Neil stands from the ground at the end of the bed, smiling down at you. Yet it’s impossible to miss how hard he is in his jeans, the length of him pressed uncomfortably against his zipper, and you gulp. Neil notices your eye line immediately, suddenly nervous all over again.
“You know the next part of the script is me helping you out?” you say in the form of the question even though you both know it’s not. Neil chuckles even though nothing is entirely funny about how your suggestion has suddenly made him harder and the look in your eyes proves you’re not going to let him off that easy.
“You don’t have to, I’ve kinda already stepped over the line” he shyly says, that nervous hand once again returning to the back of his neck. It doesn’t matter though because you’ve already sat up and started tugging at the zipper of his pants, fingers fumbling the button open.
“Shut up for once Perry and let’s finish what we started. Practice or not” and with one fowl sweep your tugging his pants and boxers down in one go. You had never considered the size of him before today but you’re not disappointed, in fact you’re shocked to see he had been hiding all that all this time.
Neil’s the one whining now, member standing tall and proud, grazing his lower abdomen and leaking with precum. You smile at him, hands pushing the T-shirt up and over his head before standing and pushing him down in the place you just were. He shifts, clearly in need of some relief, but you don’t touch him just yet. Instead you reach for the bottom of your dress, slowly tugging it up and over your own head just to reveal you had forgone a bra.
“Oh God” Neil says at the sight and you just grin, hands falling to his thighs as you lower yourself to the ground, kneeling where he just was. Neil can barely watch as you place a soft kiss on his thigh, hand rubbing up to his pelvis and dangerously close to where he was desperate for your touch.
“You know Perry, of all things I never expected you to be so desperate” you tease and he goes to give a witty comeback, he really wants to, but you have your hand wrapped around the base of his cock and any words in his mouth are swallowed in an instant. You wait a beat before pumping your hand softly, when you earn a soft moan you finally dart your tongue out and slowly lick the tip.
Neil’s squeezes his eyes shut so tightly there is almost tears coming out of them. You smile at the sight before taking him into your mouth fully. The gasp he lets out is music to your ears and you take as much of him as you can. What you can’t reach you use your hand and just like that Neil Perry is a mess of a man in your bed, when not so long ago this was supposed to be an innocent and professional practice. When you speed up your movements he’s quick to snap his eyes open, sitting up in an attempt to push you off.
“Baby, I’m not gonna last if you keep going like this and personally I’d like to be inside you when I do finish” the pet name and the sentiment has your ears burning red but you release him with a pop anyway, arm wiping at your chin as you smile up at him.
“How does it go in the script? Me on top?” Neil blushes and you lift from your knees, crawling above him on the bed. His eyes dart from your own, to your breasts, to where the two of you will meet, and you can nearly see the gears turning in his head.
“God I’m in trouble” is all he says when you grind down onto his length, covering him in your slick.
“Why’s that?” you ask, an innocent look on your face as you settle above him and grind against his length again, not quite lining him up to slip inside yet.
“There’s no way I’m not going to get a hard on, on set tomorrow. Especially after I already know what it’s like to be inside you” he pants, hands gripping your hips as you move slowly against him, nearly killing him.
“You haven’t been inside me yet, in fact we could just stop right now and save you the embarrassment” you start to say lifting up, but his hands grip tighter, and bring you back down. You’re sure he might leave finger marks but at this point you don’t really care.
“Baby, I am painfully hard and this either ends with me inside you or me awkwardly going to the bathroom to resolve this little issue, and I’d much prefer the first one” the sentence makes you giggle loudly and Neil finally breaks a smile, grinding his hips up into your own and you’re quickly reminded of the sheer length of him nestled deliciously between you.
“I prefer it too” is all you say before you grab his member without warning and line it up with your entrance. Neil squeezes your hips tightly and watches with wide eyes as you slide down his length. Slowly, slowly, until you’re flush against him and your head is tipping back at the sensation.
It’s better than he could’ve ever imagined and without you looking he gains the courage to reach and grope your tits, shamelessly feeling them up. The action makes you grind against him and he stiffens, trying to make sure he lasts as long as he could. He didn’t want this to end. Yet you seemed to have enjoyed the feeling as well and without warning you’re grinding quickly against him, using his hold on your chest for balance. When the feeling doesn’t become enough you place your hands on his own chest and lift off him. His hands instantly leave your breasts and return to your hips where he guides you back down on him.
You stay like this for a while, filthy moans leaving both of your lips as you bounce on his length, your eyes rolling back every time he hits that spot inside you. When Neil is sure he can’t take it anymore he’s flipping you onto the bed, hovering above you and giving no warning as he starts drilling into you. The moan you let out is pornographic and as he continues to drive into you he leans down and takes one of your nipples into his mouth. When he feels you tightening against him he smiles and meets his lips with your own.
“Come on baby, finish one more time for me” he encourages before pulling back and thrusting into you faster. When his fingers meet your clit and begin to rub, you feel the coil tighten in your stomach, ready for release.
“Shit Neil” you gasp, hands gripping his arms and holding on tightly. Neil smiles and never slows his pace.
“Come on baby, so fucking pretty like this” he says breathily, moaning softly in your face and it’s enough for the coil to snap. You tighten down around his length, legs trembling as they try to close together and he never ceases his movements as you cum hot and fast.
“I’m not gonna last much longer” he warns and you wrap your legs around him, indicating to finish in you, and it causes his hips to stutter. When your lips meet his own he’s finishing, warm ropes filling your inside, and he pushes in deeply once more as he settles against you.
You both lay there for a moment, letting the weight of what just happened settle in. You had never let a coworker step over that line before but it wasn’t regret you were feeling. In fact your stomach was warm with desire that hadn’t quite burned out yet. You had found Neil charming and kind from the start but you had not realized the feelings that bubbled there all along. Brewing into something much bigger and deeper than you ever realized. Something that made you go through with what you just did.
“So that just happened” Neil breaks the silence and you giggle loudly, hand falling against the back of his head and keeping him against you. The warmth spreading from your stomach and all the way up your chest.
“I told you there was no reason to be nervous” you say, fingers grazing through his hair and he chuckles, arms wrapping tighter around your bare waist.
“That may be true but now I’m more nervous everyone on set will see how into you I really am” Neil admits, lips brushing against your chest softly and ending with a soft kiss.
“Good acting is all, Oscar worthy” you say and he laughs again, head lifting to look in your eyes. They’re so full of adoration your heart stutters in your chest and you realize just how gone for him you really are.
“Hopefully that wasn’t all it was, acting” Neil says softly and you shake your head, hands coming to rest on his shoulders.
“No, that was real” you admit and he smiles before leaning and pressing a firm kiss against your lips. One that conveyed he had no interest to stop kissing you after this moment. Maybe you were done for, in over your head, but at least you had this moment. A feeling, the idea of hope, that you could hold onto forever.
“It was real for me too”

The school bell echoed through the hallway, signaling the end of another tedious English class. Neil Perry gathered his books, ready to bolt out of the classroom, when the teacher's voice halted him. "Everyone a moment please”. You froze in your seat as Mr. Keating gestured for people in pairs to go to the front of his desk. When it was your turn he called Neil Perry up along with you, you’d always admired Neil from afar, his confidence, his smile that lit up any room, and the way he seemed to carry a lightness that made him stand out among your classmates. The idea of being paired with him for anything made your heart race.
"You two will be working together on the upcoming poetry project” Mr. Keating said with a knowing smile. "I think you’ll make a fine team”. Neil grinned, clearly unfazed. "Sounds great, Mr. Keating”. You nodded, unable to muster up anything more than that. Your voice had a tendency to get caught in your throat when you were nervous, and right now, it felt like you were trying to swallow a whole apple. "Alright, I'll let you both get to it”. Mr. Keating said, turning back to his desk as the last few students filed out. "Remember, make it extraordinary!".
Once outside the classroom, Neil turned to you, his bright smile warming the chilly hallway. "So, Y/N, do you have any ideas?.Your mind blanked for a moment before you managed to stammer out, "M-Maybe we could, um, meet in the library after school? We can start brainstorming." Neil's smile widened. "Perfect. I’ll see you there at 4?". You nodded again, the butterflies in your stomach doing cartwheels. You watched him walk away, wondering how you were going to survive working on a project with someone like Neil Perry without making a complete fool of yourself.
At just before 4pm you arrived at the library, your nerves bubbling up again. You’d chosen a table tucked away in a quiet corner, hoping the isolation might help calm you down. You pulled out your notebook, pretending to review your notes, though your thoughts were completely scattered.
"Hey, Y/N!" Neil’s voice cut through your nervous thoughts. He slid into the seat across from you, his smile just as bright as it had been earlier. "I hope you didn’t have to wait too long”. “N- Not at all” you replied, trying to meet his gaze. His eyes were warm, and there was something about the way he looked at you, like he actually wanted to be there with you, that made your nerves settle, just a little. “So” Neil began, pulling out his own notebook. "I was thinking we could start by choosing a theme. Something that resonates with both of us. Any ideas?". You bit your lip, your mind racing. "Um... what about... the idea of freedom? Like... breaking away from expectations?". Neil’s eyes lit up. "I love that. It's something that feels really personal to me, too”. He paused, a hint of seriousness in his tone. "Sometimes, it feels like everyone’s watching, waiting for you to be something… you’re not”. You nodded, surprised by the vulnerability in his words. "I know what you mean”. He looked at you for a moment, his expression softening. "I’m glad we’re doing this together, Y/N. I think we can make something really meaningful”. You felt your cheeks heat up under his gaze. "Me too”.
As you started to bounce ideas off each other, the initial awkwardness began to fade. Neil was patient, encouraging you to share your thoughts and making you feel like every idea you had was valuable. His passion for the project was contagious, and soon you found yourself getting more comfortable, more excited. Days passed, and every meeting brought you closer. You started to see sides of Neil that surprised you. His thoughtfulness, his insecurities, the depth of his emotions. And he, in turn, seemed to notice the little things about you, like how your eyes sparkled when you talked about a topic you were passionate about, or how you would absentmindedly twirl a strand of hair when you were talking and even how you bit your lip when concentrating.
It was after one particularly late study session that something shifted. The library was nearly empty, the sun setting outside, casting a warm glow through the windows. You were both laughing over a joke Neil had made when the laughter died down, leaving a comfortable silence in its wake. “Y/N” Neil said softly, his gaze locking with yours. "I… I really enjoy spending time with you”. Your heart skipped a beat. "I enjoy it too, Neil”.
He reached out, gently covering your hand with his. "I’ve never met anyone like you before. You’re… you’re different in a good way and I can’t get enough of it”. You stared at his hand on yours, warmth spreading from where his skin touched yours. “I’m just… me”. And that’s enough," Neil whispered. "More than enough”.
The moment hung in the air, thick with unspoken words. You looked up at him, and for the first time, you saw a hint of nervousness in his eyes, mirroring your own. Slowly, as if testing the waters, Neil leaned forward, giving you plenty of time to pull away. But you didn’t. Instead, you met him halfway, your eyes fluttering closed as his lips brushed against yours in the gentlest of kisses. It was brief, sweet, but it held a promise of more, of something real and tangible that had grown between you over the weeks. When you pulled back, Neil’s smile was softer, more tender. “Let’s make this project something unforgettable” he said, his voice barely above a whisper. You nodded, a smile tugging at your lips. "Together”.
And as you sat there, hand in hand, you couldn’t help but feel that this was just the beginning of something extraordinary.
~~~~~ ~~~~~ ~~~~~ ~~~~~ ~~~~~ ~~~~~ ~~~~~ ~~~~~
The autumn leaves had turned shades of amber and gold, crunching beneath your feet as you and Neil walked side by side through the woods behind Welton Academy. The crisp air was filled with the earthy scent of fallen leaves, and you couldn’t help but feel a sense of peace whenever you were out here with him. The poetry project had long since been completed, earning you both top marks, but more importantly, it had been the start of something far more meaningful.
Now, a few months into your relationship, things felt as natural as the changing seasons. Neil’s hand was warm in yours, his thumb tracing lazy circles on the back of your hand as you wandered deeper into the woods, the sounds of the school fading into the background. He had suggested the walk earlier that day, claiming he needed a break from studying, and you had been more than happy to oblige. Any excuse to spend time with him was a good one.
Neil slowed his pace, eventually stopping altogether in a small clearing. The ground was blanketed with leaves, and the trees overhead created a canopy that filtered the afternoon sunlight into soft, golden beams. He turned to face you, his expression soft, his eyes full of something that made your breath catch. “You know” he said, his voice low and warm, "when we first started working together, I never imagined we’d end up here. But now… I can’t imagine my life without you in it”. His words made your heart race, and you felt a familiar shyness creep up, though it was tinged with the warmth of knowing he felt the same way. "I feel the same, Neil. You’ve made everything so much… brighter”. Neil’s smile was tender as he gently tugged you closer, wrapping his arms around you in a loose embrace. You leaned into him, resting your head against his chest, listening to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat. Being in his arms felt like the safest place in the world, a sanctuary from all the pressures and expectations that weighed on both of you.
“You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me, Y/N” he murmured into your hair. "I just wanted you to know that." You closed your eyes, letting the moment sink in. "You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me too, Neil”.
For a while, you simply stood there together, wrapped up in each other and the quiet of the woods. The world outside seemed to fade away, leaving just the two of you in this perfect little bubble. Eventually, Neil pulled back slightly, just enough to tilt your chin up so he could look into your eyes. “You’re beautiful, you know that?" he said, his voice full of sincerity. You felt your cheeks heat up, but you didn’t look away this time. Instead, you smiled, reaching up to brush a stray lock of hair away from his forehead. "You’re not so bad yourself, Perry”. He chuckled softly before leaning down to press a kiss to your forehead, then your nose, and finally, your lips. The kiss was soft, unhurried, full of the unspoken emotions that had been building between you. When he pulled back, he rested his forehead against yours, his breath mingling with yours in the cool air. “Let’s stay like this forever” he whispered. You nodded, your heart full to bursting. "Forever”.
And in that moment, with the golden leaves falling gently around you, it felt like maybe, just maybe, forever was within reach.
Todd can’t help the way he feels about you.
You’re kind to him, always nice, so patient. Never getting annoyed when he stumbles over his words or goes quiet as he gets lost in his head trying to think of the best response, forgetting to answer.
It’s why when he overhears your friend teasing you about a crush, his heart instantly sinks to his stomach, feeling sick, because there’s no doubt in his mind that it’s not him.
It could never be someone like Todd who would hold such attention from you.
Things like that didn’t happen to Todd.
He should leave it alone. He should forget he ever heard anything. He should really leave you alone, his senior of one year, and find friends his own age.
But he doesn’t seem to click with anyone else.
He felt desperately like a puppy scorned of any attention when you first smiled at him, all kind angles, nothing malicious in the way you talked to him so nicely.
You’re overcompensating, with your kindness. For all the bad things that have happened to you. You’ve let him into your life, sharing things that not a lot of your friend group knew (not that Todd knew this, to him it was common knowledge). And he’s surprised that your life isn’t perfect.
For all the shitty, horrible, terrible things that have occurred, you’re just as determined to be the opposite. To be a light instead of the darkness that is so easy to succumb to.
“I didn’t have a lot of friends growing up,” you whisper to him one night, sneaking away from the party with your lukewarm drink and his soda that’s beginning to taste flat.
Your head leans against his shoulder and he tries to breathe evenly, to be the perfect shoulder for you.
“I was really lonely. It felt like no matter what I did, I never fit in. People liked me, but no one wanted to be my best friend. So, I guess I never want anyone else to feel like that.”
Todd thinks about that night a lot. The weight of you against him, how the air was crisp, and the scent of your shampoo drifting into his senses.
He wonders if you’ve brought him into your circle out of pity. If you don’t see him as a friend, but as a past version of yourself laden with no friends. If you’re trying to reach into the past and rewrite the story. He doesn’t like to think about it too much because it hurts.
Really, he should try to spend less time thinking about you. But the more he tries to forget, the more he thinks.
He can’t stop thinking about the word crush. His dictionary has been opened to the C section so many times that it has a natural crease there now, flipping to the page as soon as he opens the book.
Crush: a strong but temporary feeling of liking someone.
It could be just a harmless tease from your friend. As far as he knows, there is no one who you could have a crush on. He watches you a lot, and there’s not a lot of people you spend frequent time with outside of your friends and him.
This endless thought that could be nothing that is leading him into a slow descent into obsession. It bothers him.
Someone who could yield your affections must be someone special, worthy of such attention.
But what if it’s not? What if it’s someone who wouldn’t be careful with your heart, wouldn’t take the time to learn the workings of your mind? What if your feelings are not temporary?
Todd loses sleep over it, worry gnawing at the edges of his thoughts until he’s become edgy.
You notice, of course, that Todd will withdraw into himself. With gentle coaxing, he’ll return but sometimes he stays stuck.
Lately he’s been stuck and nothing you’ve done has been able to break through.
He shocks you by finding you in the library, clearly still caught in the webs of his overthinking mind. Appearing normal as he pulls out a textbook and notebook, pen tapping against the palm of his hand.
The words blurt out of his mouth, rushed through in a painful exhale that sounds more breathy than he intended. He hadn't even meant to say that.
“You have a crush?” He asks.
And then stops, breath hitching, heart beginning to race.
He doesn’t want to know. Can’t bear to watch the way your lips form the name of someone who isn’t him.
Instead, you smile at him. Shrugging your arms and sighing.
“Not you too! Everyone is pestering me over it.” You avoid the question, Todd is quick to notice.
“I overheard Meeks.” Todd says.
“He’s such an instigator.” You roll your eyes.
Todd knows you well enough to know that you’ve purposefully not answered him. It brings a small flutter to his chest.
“Do you?”
It’s painful, to dig in and search for an answer that he know will hurt. Rubbing salt into the wound that is his aching heart. But he has to know. It’s like an itch he can’t reach.
“Yes, Todd, I do. Although calling it a crush is silly. It’s much stronger than that.” You say, very quietly.
Or maybe Todd can’t hear you well over the sudden rushing in his ears.
“Oh.” It’s all he can manage.
Crush, is simple and small. Temporary.
Stronger than a crush? Well. That’s not so simple or small.
“Todd, can you look at me?”
He can't. Eyes glued to the floor of the library, feeling his cheeks flush with warmth and his stomach twist into knots. Slippery and hot as he tries to calm the sudden urge to be sick.
You reach out to grab his clammy hands, giving them a firm squeeze. He manages to squeeze back.
“It’s okay, breathe.” You count out the breaths for him until they’re no longer shaky.
His cheeks are still flushed, but not with anxiety. Feeling the sweat on his neck begin to cool. Stomach settling.
“Todd, I really like you. A lot.” You grin. “I have a crush on you.”
“Why me?”
“Because you’re you.”
Todd has another fitful night of sleep, but this time it's because he can't stop thinking about the moment in the library. Flushed with embarrassment, but also with a giddiness. Thinking of what you had said, to him alone and him only:
"I'm infatuated with you, Todd Anderson."
pairing(s): neil perry x female!reader
summary: a romance between two individuals from different worlds who must keep their love secret due to familial expectations.
words: 1171
warnings/tags: r is considered 'lower class' since neil is upper.
Tumblr media
the last place you would be seen near was neil perry’s family home. his harsh father would banish you away and punish your boyfriend for ever interacting with someone as “low” as you could be considered.
using your time after high school, which was very much a public school, to paint away in your room. the dream of becoming an art phenomenon in the greater future which neil only fuelled you to pursue.
neil was upper class, in a private school of all boys, your families different from one another in every way. each weekend neil’s parents throwing adult parties filled with fancy champagne and “hors d oeuvres” while you sat on your couch catching up on homework and your latest book.
neither of you told anyone in your spaces, not neil’s friends, not yours, and especially not his parents. on days he told his dad he was doing extracurricular school activities, he would be over at yours, writing playscripts and cuddled in your company.
so when neil left his prized possession at your house, you had to sought out to him as your next planned time wasn’t for another week. and neil would worry about leaving such a thing.
you awkwardly stood outside his school gates, glancing around feeling out of place of the rich bricked building encased with golden statues and gates. you tried to look nonchalant, but with this large an item held in your arms, you definitely stuck out.
in fact, it was the first thing neil’s friends noticed while the final bell indicated the end of day, the moment they stepped out in deep chatter, he heard knox’s exclaim of interest, “who is that?”
when his friend said this, neil didn’t expect his girlfriend to be standing far out the gates, amidst students leaving for the weekend. “hot, hot, hot,” charlie mused and they all seem to take notice of your frame.
neil glances around slightly nervous, chuckling along to his friends as they leave the gates. while saying their goodbyes, most leaving in separate groups depending on their journey, todd turns to his friend, “you coming?”
“i’ll catch up with you,” neil says, watching you with a small smile from across the main road. “you gonna try talking to her?” he asks, and neil smirks with a small chuckle again following, “maybe.”
he looks either way before crossing, your state giddy as your boyfriend walks towards you. “well, why are you here?” neil asks amused, glancing down at his typewriter encased by your arms. his typewriter. which now he realised he left at your place, you saving his weekend plans cooped up in his room telling his dad he’s doing homework when he’s writing away in his nook.
“you left your typewriter, and i knew you wouldn’t be able to get it back till next week. we can’t have that, can we?” you reply, neil glancing around to ensure his friends are out of sight before bending down to kiss your cheek sweetly. leaving a warm feeling upon the skin.
“here,” neil replies, lifting the machine from your arms and into his own before kissing your other cheek several times, erupting you into giggles as you push his arm jokingly. “you definitely can’t come back to mine?” you say with a slight pout, his hair flopping in front of his eyes in a boyish charm and you swoon.
he shakes his head sympathetically, “sorry, my love. my father got a big promotion, he’s got his boss and his wife over for dinner tonight, wants me there. i’ll see you wednesday though…”
it didn’t seem enough, you both felt it and you tug on the part of his tie visible above the typewriter to pull him down and press a chaste kiss upon neil’s lips and he smiles into it. “would much rather sit and watch you paint,” he swoons and you nod.
it’s just a shame you are both from completely different worlds.
he can tell you’re thinking about something, your eyes looked at his but were glazed in worry and he tilts his head inquisitively, breaking you from your reverie as you ask, “do you ever think we’ll be able to stop being so secretive?”
neil smiles softly, wanting nothing more. he dreams of a day where he moves away from his parents, under his own roof so his dad can’t give him a scolding when he finds out about neil’s girlfriend.
it wasn’t that he was ashamed of you, he was far from it. it was just so complicated, with his dad so very involved in every aspect of neil’s life, desperate for his son to go far and wide in the career world.
“of course, once i finish school this year i can apply to college and move out.”
he made it sound so simple, his eyes kind as they scan the features across your face, his smile growing which makes yours raise in response as well. and despite there being a big typewriter blocking your way, you can’t help but lean in and wrap your arms around him in a hug.
“these little moments matter just as much to me as anything else, though.” you murmur as his mouth leaves small kisses to your head since his hands hold the heavy object, “me too, my love. i plan on marrying you and living happy ever after. no one, not even my dad, is gonna stop me from doing that.”
you feel your heart ready to burst, the seriousness of his words enough to ease your worries, “who said we’re going to get married?” you muse with a teasing smile. neil is unable to tear his eyes from your face, despite having aching arms and being late home.
“oh, i said, did i not tell you?” neil laughs and you join in, your own bubble between you both as neil feels wary of being so close to you outside his school. “good luck with that,” you continue, tugging his tie again before standing back.
he smiles warmly at you, eyes gleaming, “i’ll need all the luck i can get when i’m dating someone as out of my league as you.” you shake your head teasingly at him, he couldn’t be serious. he was the one with a rich high-class background with the picture-perfect family – despite how it really depicts behind closed doors, it was very much the other way round.
“i’m serious! the forbidden love will seize soon as i plan to get down on one knee in years to come before you find out how out of my league you really are.” you raise your leg off the ground to nudge neil’s foot with your own, “you’re really something, neil.”
he smiles at you, moving towards the path he will take home, “i’ll see you on wednesday, okay?” and you’re nodding, “of course, bring the works you write this weekend with you.”
“always, my beautiful.” and despite the cold fall air, the entire walk home your cheeks feel positively on fire.
Neil helps his best friend's sister with Latin. The problem is - he has a crush on her, but knows they could never be together. After all, he couldn't date Charlie's family, it's against the rules. And secondly - Neil is sure Y/n wouldn't have ever talked to him if it wasn't for the tutoring.
Pairing: Neil Perry x dalton!fem!reader
Words count: 1.5k
Warnings: none
«────── « ⋅ʚ♡ɞ⋅ » ──────»
Tutoring
"Thank you for helping me, Neil." Y/n said as she closed the door of her room. She stopped for a moment and then added, "I didn't ask if you wanted something to drink. Shall I bring tea? Coffee? Juice?"
"Water would be perfect," Neil sent the girl a smile.
As Y/n walked to the kitchen for two glasses of water, Neil unpacked his bag. He had some notes that could be helpful for whatever Y/n could need help with. He was a year ahead, so the things she was learning now, he knew cold.
At least tutoring let him spend some time with Y/n. Charlie wouldn't have a problem with his best friend and his sister having a thing, but that wasn't the problem. The Daltons were rich and that was the problem. If it wasn't for the tutoring, Y/n probably wouldn't even have talked to Neil. Neil's family wasn't poor, they had enough money to send him to Welton, but his father worked hard for this.
"Okay, I'm back!" Y/n announced, setting the cups with water on her nightstand, far away from the books.
"Great, so, what do you have a problem with?" Neil asked, taking a seat by Y/n's desk.
The girl sat down on a chair next to him, smiling. "Oh, you know... Latin." She giggled awkwardly, putting a strand of her hair behind her ear.
Oh, how beautiful she looked in that moment. A bit blushed, smiling awkwardly. Neil was mesmerized and almost forgot what he came here for.
"Yes, but what in particular?" He tried masking his infatuation. And he was good at it so far.
"You know what, the desk feels uncomfortable for two people, doesn't it?" Y/n grabbed the book and tossed it onto the bed. "Let's sit there, shall we?"
And so they did. In front of each other, with their legs crossed. Neil forgot about his glasses, but he quickly reached into his bag to search for them.
Now Y/n seemed to be a little mesmerized. She hadn't seen him wearing glasses before and that was a very flattering model for him. Neil looked so attractive.
"Glasses suit you," the girl complimented, "do you ever wear them, you know, outside of studying?"
"No," he chuckled, "I don't need to." Right after this he said it, he scolded himself, in his head of course, for saying it. To make it less awkward he added, "Although thank you."
"No problem." Was it Neil's brain playing tricks on him, or did Y/n sound disappointed by his reply? "Okay, so let's start."
"What shall we start with? Do you wanna start from the beginning, or...?"
"No, no, not from the beginnings. I understand the basics, but it's get pretty difficult later on..."
"Yeah, languages have that thing where they get harder the more advanced they get."
The joke made Y/n smile. She pushed Neil playfully and he theatrically pretended it hurt him.
"Maybe we should start with ACI?"
"Accusativus cum infinitivo," Neil smiled at the memory of Charlie laughing at the word 'cum' every time, but to Y/n it just seemed like a kind smile sent to her. "Alright, let's start."
«────── « ⋅ʚ♡ɞ⋅ » ──────»
"I don't get it, Neil, I just don't!" Y/n whined pathetically. She felt truly hopeless if even Neil couldn't help her.
"No, Y/n, calm down, please, and listen to me." He ordered in a lower, but still kind voice.
Y/n looked at him with worry in her eyes. Worry and fear, but she wasn't scared of him. She was scared of not passing the class, failing her whole education.
Her eyes are so beautiful, Neil thought, she looks like a lost, little doe.
"I know what your problem is," he continued, "you don't know the declensions."
"Well, have you seen how many of those are there?"
"Yes, there are five. But why can't you remember them? From what I've seen today, you don't have a problem with conjugations."
"There's only four of those. And they just make more sense, you know? They feel natural to me. Meanwhile how am I supposed to remember it's puella, puellae, another puellae, puellam, puella with the funny line above the a and vocativus is the same as nominativus?"
"Not to brag, but I must be a really good teacher because you've just recited the first declension in singularis."
"I did?" Y/n beamed at the realization. "Neil, you're amazing!" She threw herself onto Neil, closing him in a very tight hug.
They were laying down on the bed. Neil was on his back and Y/n was on top of him. This moment lasted a bit longer than it was appropriate.
Y/n raised herself up, she went back to sit in the spot she was. She realized how inappropriate it was. She thought Neil must've felt so awkward right now. So she began apologizing and explaining.
"I'm sorry." She said. "I made it awkward, didn't I? I don't know what got into me. I guess I just- I don't- okay, there's no explanation," she knew she might take the explaining too far, but she didn't know how to stop this stream of words. "There is an explanation, actually. I like you, yes you've heard it right, I like you. More than a friend, I've had a crush from you since I met you."
Neil sat back in the cross-legged position. He was astonished by this confession. Not because he didn't feel the same. The thing was he did feel the same, but had no idea Y/n would, so he never prepared himself for this moment. He didn't know what to say, because it seemed so impossible to him. It was never supposed to happen.
"Oh no," a whine came from Y/n's mouth, "I knew I shouldn't have said that. I'm so sorry, again. The way we looked at each other today, I thought the feelings were mutual."
"Y/n, calm down." Neil tried to keep his voice relaxed. He didn't want to make himself seem too excited, that could creep the girl out. "I do feel the same."
"You do?"
"I do, I just didn't know you would. That's why I've tried to keep it to myself."
His confession gave Y/n a bit of confidence. "You weren't so good at keeping this a secret today, the way you looked at me was... giving me signals, let's say."
When this problem was solved, there arised another. What were they going to do with it?
"So... what happens now?" Y/n asked.
"I'm asking myself the same question."
"Should we tell Charlie?" Tell him what though, Y/n? Y/n asked herself, This confession didn't change anything, you're not suddenly dating.
"No," Neil laughed, "I don't think he's ready. I don't think he's mature enough."
Y/n nodded with a smile on her face, but didn't say anything. So Neil continued.
"Would you like to start going on dates?"
"Sure, I would love that. What's your first date idea?" Y/n gave Neil a cheeky smile.
Neil's hand suddenly happened to be on Y/n's, intertwined by the fingers. "I will take you to my rehearsal. Afterwards, we can go eat something or have ice cream. What do you say?"
Without an answer, the girl scooted closer to him. Eventually, she gave Neil a reply. "I say, it is a nice idea. You must look so good on the stage, doing what you love to do."
In that moment, Neil blushed, but what made him blush even more, was Y/n's next action. She put her hand on his jawline and pulled him in for a kiss.
He didn't hesitate to kiss her back, but decided to let Y/n stay in control of the pace and everything else. It was a slow, very romantic kiss. It wasn't awkward, it felt as if they kissed so many times before, their lips co-worked just perfectly.
Soon, Neil's hands found their way to Y/n's waist to pull her closer. A moment later, the lovers were laying down on the bed again. But it wasn't going to go anywhere further than this kiss. Neither of them were ready, besides they've just confessed their feelings, it would be too quick.
After a while, Y/n pulled away, letting Neil and herself catch a breath. She laid down next to the boy, taking his hand in hers. She felt him rub her hand with his thumb. It felt so reassuring. Whatever happens later, we'll get through it.
If Charlie finds out, then he finds out and there's nothing he can do about it. If he doesn't like it, it's his problem, he should be mature enough to understand it.
If the parents find out, either Y/n's or Neil's (it didn't matter, because whoever found out, they would tell one another), then that would be a problem. But Neil was sure he would do something about it, he would make up a solution. It wouldn't be the first time he went against his parents' will.
In the worst case, Y/n and Neil would have to wait until they finish high school. After that, they would be adults, free to do whatever they wanted to. Whatever was going to happen, everything would work out in their favour.
you met neil because of steven.
you were sneaking to welton in the night cause you had something that your parents give you for steven.
there's no need to lie, you hated welton with all your heart. the students here have always had to be perfect. that was something you appreciated. yes, you were getting good grades, and that was enough for you to pass the classes.
even you hate the school's system there were one person you always look up to, neil perry. he was your opposite, he was everything you want to be. unlike you he can talk to his parents about his future, but you were just following your parents' dreams.
i guess that was the reason you fell in love with him.
"steven?" you whispered and looked around. where was he?
"steven has to deal with something, with gerard." you heard neil. "i can help if you want."
"well, i just have to give these to steven."
neil smiled at you and walked towards you. you knew there was nothing special going on, you knew he only loved people like him.
you gave him the books and smiled.
"so, how was your school?"
"nothing but classic welton."
"yeah." and that's how the conversation ended. he didn't say anything and the silence began to be uncomfortable. "i have to go, good night then."
"wait, not right now." he grabbed your wrist and walked to his room really fast. you assumed that this was a 'sleep' time control.
he rushed you into his room, almost pushed you.
"y/n, is there a problem?" you heard todd's voice. he was your best friend after steven. "why did you dragged you secret crush in your room?" he said while laughing.
"i didn't."
"thank you todd, you just ruined my love confession."
you looked at them in surprise. "what? can somebody tell me what's going on?"
"well," neil said as he put the books on the table. "i was gonna confess but thanks to your best friend, it ruined."
"you like me?" you still don't understand, or simply you don't want to believe.
"i didn't like you at first, but over time you changed my mind. taking care of you or spending time with you was my favourite thing. i love helping you in trigonometry. "
you smiled. "trigonometry?"
"yeah," he laughed. "don't you like me?"
"i do neil, but i'm just shocked. it was unexpected."
"then, so that you won't be surprised, I'm telling you that I'm going to kiss you." he said while walking towards you.
"hey! i don't want to see my two friends kissing." todd closed his eyes. "please find another room."
"then please turn your behind todd." neil said as he came close to kissing you.
you stopped him by grabbing him by the shoulders. "i wanna kiss you to neil but i don't think it's a right time." you smiled and kissed his cheek. "see you tomorrow then?"
"yeah, see you tomorrow." you left the room smiling.
when you closed the door, you heard neil tell todd that he ruined your first kiss moment. you laughed silently and walked away with a big smile.
A/N: Yes, I am alive. Yes, I am writing... from today again. Lemme live okay, there has been a lot going on but I haven't forgotten about my fics. Lucky number request 7 was picked up. Anyways I loved writing this one. Very soothing.
REQUEST: Hello it’s me, do you think you could write a cute jealous Charlie or Meeks, like the reader goes to different school so they don’t have a lot of time together, so one day Charlie or Meeks sees them talking to a guy, and they get jealous.
PAIRING: Charlie Meeks x reader
XX
Year 1959 started off with an odd coldness in the air. Not only because of the winter, but because of all the pressure and the stress of your surroundings.
Exams of the first semester were coming up and your father had you under strict rules, you weren't really obliged to follow. You had no idea why your education was so important to him, as if he wasn't planning about to marry you off anyway.
You never had those hopes for yourself. Yes, you did like to stay at home alone- it was one of your favorite pass times but you had ambitions and dreams of your own. You believed you could achieve them, however with no support of your father, who basically carried the whole family- it was harder to achieve.
Yes, 1959 was cold. Cold and cruel because it made you realise that world isn't that much nice to women your age. You're obliged to act a certain way, play a certain role and be a certain person.
You went to your bed and covered your cold feet under the covers. You thought of your ginger boy. Your sweet Steven. If you could have seen your eyes, you'd see a mirror of glow. You've never thought you'd fall in love with a boy who was all ginger and freckles. You've never even thought about that being close to your type of man but he swooned you over.
The two of you met in one of the hotels during the summer and realised you live close by, only weak 20 minutes away from each other. It was a surprise because you never saw him in your town before but your father didn't much allow you to go out and meet boys.
You did though. That summer, you met this freckly sweet boy, who did nothing but charm you and make you laugh. You thought it was too perfect to be true but there was something in him. Something you couldn't pin down. When he took down those glasses and you could see his gorgeous brown eyes, sometimes just jumped in your stomach.
You've been in love- with him and only him. You could still think of when the two of you first held hands and kissed on the wet grassy field as it rained. It sounded like a fairytale- a movie. It just seemed to be too good to be true and you were afraid that you would jinx it sooner rather than later.
But you didn't have to jinx it, when your father was doing all the work. You haven't argued in a house as much as you did at this age. You've had built up anger, holding it inside over the years. Yet, you never wanted to go too far, not now... because in a way, your father frightened you.
Now that your mother was away, taking care of your ill aunt in another state, your father has gotten worse. Like a little child he drinks and smokes inside. You clean after him, you cook for him, you do his laundry, you- it's like taking care of a child and you felt more exhausted than ever. So exhausted, you haven't had the energy to fight him anymore.
So you endured and you missed the only person who would make you feel better.
Private school for boys... could it be any worse? Nine months of barely any contact. You felt like you were about to explode from all this pressure.
He was your safety net. He was the one to catch you, to soothe you, to take care of you when you were so emotional and not being able to even shower. You walked towards the window and looked out.
A big hole in your chest formed because you missed him so much. You wished you could talk to him. Just to talk. He makes everything feels so much better but how, when he is so far away and you are so far away?
---
Steven Meeks has been feeling similiar as you do, except that he simply adored you more than you could ever know. He always asked himself why him and you always told him why not him. Of course, he was still insecure about himself but that was always a great motivation to keep him prooving himself to you. When Knox told him that he is going to your school to talk to the girl he's been fancying, he knew it would be a great opportunity to surprise you.
However, he was somehow oblivious to the fact that there were other boys in the school with you. He walked in with your favorite chocolate candy in his hand, a box shaped as a heart- even though he knew it was cheesy, you always blushed and laughed at it. To him that was only one out of many sights he loved to see on you.
His colour drained when he saw a large, bulky man standing over you. His hand was leaning on the locker and he had one of those pearly white smirks. Unfortunately, he didn't see your face because he was behind you but it was the perfect opportunity to release the rage he has been holding the minute his eyes set on the two of you.
Something went off in his mind. Something he never thought he was capable of. i
He slammed his hand on the lockers behind you, making you jump a bit and turn around. The guy looked up and raised an eyebrow.
It took you a minute to gather yourself because you haven't expected somebody so similar to your boyfriend appear right next to you. You haven't even believed it until he started to speak.
Meeks' eyes narrowed, his lips thinned and his chest puffed out. "You lost?"
The guy threw his head back in shock. "What?"
"You deaf too?" Meeks continued. "I don't see a single reason why you should be talking to my girl?"
He let out a laugh and took a step forward but Meeks didn't even blink an eye. "Your girl? You? Where you from? Popsicleland?"
"At least my clothes fit, yours are about to tear any minute." he continued to glare at him and you could see the way this was only about to escalate if you wouldn't interfere.
You pushed them away and dragged Steven, barely, around the corner. He was still huffing and puffing but you didn't even care. You didn't care about his challenging male outburst or fragile male ego- you simply jumped into his arms and hugged him so tightly, you were about to burst.
His anger drained slowly into a realisation who was holding him so tightly. The smell of your parfume hit reduced the anger and he hugged you so tightly and as he did so, you started to sob into his arms.
"Shh... I'm here..." he started to caress your back with his hand but you felt this huge amount of release when he did that. When he pulled away to see your drained, grey face he immediately became worried.
He cupped your head into his hands and looked deeply into your eyes. "(Y/N), what's wrong? Why are you sad?" he whispered, his eyebrows furrowing worriedly.
"I just missed you so much." you hugged him back, leaning your head on his chest and squeezing him. He simply didn't know what to do except pressing your head against him and kissing the top.
Oh how he loved you. His heart was simply throbbing from the sadness and the love he had for you. Why were you sad? What did he miss? Why wasn't he here more than he is?
"I love you so much, (y/n)." he mumbld against your head and pulled away, cupping your head again. "I love you and I'm sorry I haven't been here for you. I'm so sorry."
You laughed, wiping the tears off your cheeks. "You're too perfect to be sorry." you smiled and put your hand on his cheeks. "I just love you too."
---
You told him- you told him how pressured you felt and he felt enraged as you continued your sad, pitiful story. He held you so close to him, tightening his grip around your waist, kissing the top of your head whenever your voice started to quiver.
But oh the warmth of him. The presence, soul and love of him. It soothed you like no other thing in this entire world. You didn't know what it was. Was it love? Distance? Longing? But oh how warm and loved you felt by this man.
"I am so sorry." he said.
"What are you sorry for?" you smiled, caressing the hand that held you so close.
"Sorry you had to go through this alone." he said and your smile faded. You leaned back on his chest as you watched your feet drag up the grass until your knees were bent. You laid them on his outstretched legs and he pulled you even closer up to him. "It's my last year there..." he said and looked down at you. You looked up and your eyes met.
You could always read him so well. "Meaning?"
"Meaning I'll get the job as soon as possible and I'll save up for a wedding and a house- even a dog if you want."
You started to laugh. "What about your dreams as a literature professor?" you sat up, serious this time and placing your hand on his cheek. "What about Knox and Charlie and Neil-"
"They're my friends but you're the person I want to spend my life with." his eyes softened. "I want to marry you."
You leaned your forehead on his and smiled. "That's a shame because I want to be married to a literature professor."
(Not my gif)(Somewhat requested by two anonymous')
D-Fighting and somewhat making up with a shit ton of angst. Apologies in advance. Also, this isn't as edited as most of my other work so sorry for that lol.
True love is supposed to transcend every other thing within a persons life. Regardless of how much a person may grow, their feelings for their loved ones should never wither away: it should remain in place, fluctuating but strong, always lingering even when times get tough or circumstances change. Charlie Dalton had been the love of your life for years, a permanent fixture of your adolescent years, and no matter how many phases you'd been through or how many interests had run their course, your feelings for him had never died, they'd merely grown alongside you.
The problem was, it wasn't you who was changing this time, it was Charlie: and the more he changed, the more he seemed to drift away; the distance between you growing greater and greater the less he seemed to resemble the boy you'd come to know. Had he shown you that he loved you just as fiercely as the day you got together, the changes wouldn't have mattered. Hell, they barely even mattered now, you still wanted him; still loved him, it just seemed like he didn't love you. You were willing to accept a decline, a little wedge between the two of you, but this wedge seemed more like a canyon that kept you apart, one that only you were still trying to traverse.
You were doing everything in your power to hold onto him and not let go, fearing that if you did, he wouldn't bother stopping to pick you back up. That he'd leave you in the dust, that he'd go off and find someone new, someone who he'd grow to love just as much as he'd once loved you; just as much as you still loved him.
Therein lied the issue. You'd held onto him too tight, tried too hard, pushed too much. In trying to keep up with him and stay within his life, you'd wound up suffocating him when all he'd thought he'd wanted was space. He wasn't even sure what he'd wanted, he just knew that he was experiencing things he'd never thought of experiencing before, living his life like he was suddenly reborn, going out into the world and keeping himself busy, too busy to be held down by someone who couldn't understand, someone who didn't feel the same things he was feeling in that pivotal, life changing point in time.
The argument had been quick; a fact that you weren't sure made things better or worse. You fought over him cancelling too many dates, over him barely paying attention to you even when you did hang out, about how nowadays, it only ever seemed to be you who was trying to make an effort and keep the two of you as close as you once were. He'd told you that that was too close; and the comment had made you sick. He'd called you clingy and told you that he had other things on his mind than making time just to be with you, that his world didn't revolve around you any more and that that was the reason you were so upset.
And maybe part of that was true. Maybe you did hate that his world didn't revolve around you but that was only because yours had still revolved around him. That no matter how many friends you had, or how much school work, or how much money you'd intended on making at your part time job, you'd always made time for him. You'd done it because he was what mattered most to you, and that was the revelation that made you feel the worst. That he was the most important thing in your life and that these feelings of yours were nothing but unwanted and seemingly pathetic. That was what made you walk out the door.
A part of Charlie hadn't even realized what he'd said, and maybe that was why your sudden silence had came as such a shock. Why, when he sighed and turned around to try and reason with you, the sight of you just ...gone was so jarring. You'd simply walked out of the room without a word and he'd immediately wondered if he'd gone too far, if, in his own mix of confusing emotions, he'd said something he didn't realize the depths of.
No, that couldn't be it. He was changing, you both were changing, and you both were growing and getting busier. You should be more understanding, that was it. This was on you, he'd reasoned, and you were just being dramatic, dramatic enough that he shouldn't entertain the idea of following you out the door; even if he had a uneasy feeling in his stomach that was urging him to do so. He didn't have time to fight, he'd give you space and you'd talk later, the same way you always did when you had a little spat: you'd come to see things his way, you always did....
Except you didn't. Ring. He was calm when he'd called you after classes, expectant and ready to smooth things over with the same ease he always did. Ring. Waiting. He wasn't concerned, sometimes it took you a minute to reach the phone, move across the room or shove things off your lap, etc. Ring. Now he was a little confused, a bubbling feeling of anxiety rising in his chest against his will. You rarely ever took very long to get to the phone, especially at this time of day when you were usually just getting home from your own school. Ring. Were you still mad at him? Ignoring him? It wasn't like you to not want to work thing out as soon as possible or at least give him the time of day; even if it was just to tell him you didn't want to talk. Ring.
He knew you were home and perhaps that was what made the distance feel so much larger in that moment. You were miles apart at any given moment and yet it had never felt as far away as it did right now. Perhaps it was because at a certain point in your relationship, he'd forgotten that you'd lived a life outside of his own. That you were not just a fixture in his life that was always just a single phone call away like you had been for so long. You'd made it so easy to forget and that's part of what makes him feel so terrible. It was your actions that made the distance so bearable, it was your willingness to always be there for him, and while he dialed the phone for a second and then a third time, he stood to wonder if you'd actually, finally, given up. And because of that, he was scared.
He was scared because he couldn't remember the last time he did something that would warrant him being called your boyfriend. You'd hardly seen each other in the past few months, hardly even kissed or had an exceptionally fun time on one of your dates.
You'd planned the last few hangouts, made the journey out to the town Welton was in because you knew that there was only so much he could do in one night. You'd held his hand first, made the conversations; ones he could barely remember due to how little he'd paid attention, expressed how much you'd missed him. You'd brought the blanket, the snacks, the gift for him; a book that was still sat unopened on his desk. He opened it now and it was perfect for him: a collection of jazz poetry, the exact thing he'd told you about getting into the last time the two of you were together and he'd wondered then and there how often you listened more than he did.
He wondered how long there'd been this divide between the two of you, how long things had been this bad, how long he'd been this bad. He'd never intended for it to happen; no one ever does, he'd always envisioned you by his side, beside every version of himself regardless of what it looked like, and yet, he'd chased you away in order to find himself.
Now, all he found was how much he missed you, how much of himself was cradled in your hands, your heart; lovingly crafted in your image and the image he'd wanted to become for you. You'd held him tightly yet carefully in gentle hands for so very long and now it feels as though you've dropped him, sending his body crashing to the floor and leaving him shattered in sharp, broken fragments, fragments that belonged to a once whole and foolish person.
The days go by and you continue to ignore his calls. Your mother takes some of them for you and he has half a mind to call you childish but he knows that he fits the bill better than anyone else. He cast you aside like a child who gets a new toy and forgets about his old ones, the ones who once meant the world to him. And the toys still do, they never lose their value, it's just that they have to be taken away for the child to remember them again, to remember how much they meant to them and to show them that things are not permanent, that they won't always be sitting on their bed, waiting for them to come back and pick them up when they please.
He calls your best friend in a last ditch effort to reach you before he loses the last of his resolve and just plain travels to your town to confront you in person. You're there beside her when he calls and your friend scoffs when he confirms who he is. He hears her tell you that it's him and he doesn't catch what you say but he hears your friend let out a giddy noise before saying that you don't want to talk with him. He's certain that you told her everything when she seems to pointedly adlib the words "she wants some space." before telling him to stop calling and leave you alone, hanging up before he can even begin to respond. He supposes he deserves that.
What he doesn't deserve, what he'll never deserve, is to lose his best friend; especially while they're still so young. You were close enough with Neil to warrant your attendance at his funeral, and it's there that he sees you in person for the first time in weeks. He hates to admit that the first thing he thinks of when he sees you is how you're still just as beautiful as he last remembered, even as you're dressed in black and obviously distraught, eyes rimmed in red the same way his are.
Your eyes meet only once: they catch for a minute, locked together with dark swirling emotion, and it takes everything in him not to crumble; everything inside him shattering in noisy collisions as he does his best to stay silent and strong. He feels sick, genuinely sick, and he's not sure which grief is which as he stands there motionless yet trembling, half expecting to pass out or puke; whichever comes first.
He watches you hug your acquaintances, exchanging mournful phrases and prayers and condolences and he watches with baited breath as you near the boys. He hears you and the boy both apologizing, you for their loss, them for the fact that this how you'll see Neil for the final time; without the cushion of recent happy memories.
You reach him in a matter of minutes, the wait both too long and too short, and though you stand closely in front of him, there's still an unbearable distance between the two of you. He feels the tension, the hesitance, as though you don't remember how to be near him and the thought of that breaks his heart for the umpteenth time that afternoon.
You're at a loss for words the same way he is, even when he wants to scream apology after apology at the top of his lungs. You're unsure what to do and there's only one thing his mind can manage to conjure up, roaring at him to act out the same way it's been roaring at him to see you for the past few weeks. He closes the distance and latches onto you, pulling you into him with a muffled sob, the tension in his body easing just barely as your arms wind around him, tightening enough to nearly steal his breath away.
Its a hug that suffocates him, and he happily lets you. He'll be the next to join the dead out of all the society member if it means you'll never let him go again.
hi love! hope u have an amazing birthday! could i please request a the dead poets with a fake dating au for charlie dalton? thank u sm xx
charlie knew he shouldn’t be doing this. knew he was in too deep, already, just being your friend, but he knew how rough the holidays were for you with your parents. and how he could never say no to you, anyway, so there was little point in trying. especially when he knew what pretending to date you meant.
“you’ve got nothing to worry about, charlie. my parents love you, you know that. think they like you more than me, most nights,” you sigh, leaning your head against the window of the car your parents had let you have for the evening. charlie had insisted on driving you back to your parents house, despite the half-hour drive, and the fact that you’d already made the journey from there to welton.
“yeah, well, that was before they thought i was sleeping with their daughter,” he scoffs. you can see the way his cheeks have flared up, the grip his hand has on the gear shift.
“they do not think you’re sleeping with me,” you do your best to stifle your giggle, but it slips it out anyway. the scorned look he sends your way has more tumbling out of you before you can stop them.
“they definitely do and your dad is going to kick my ass,” he swipes the hand not on the wheel over his forehead, pushing his bangs back. “he’s gonna make me sleep in the yard or something.”
“charlie, they’ll let you sleep in the guest bedroom like always. you’re being paranoid,” you hum as you lean across the bench seat to press a chaste kiss to his cheek. one you misjudge to the point you end up kissing the corner of his mouth.
his cheeks seem even rosier, now.
“You’re intoxicating” Charlie mutters against your lips, knee nudging between your own as he presses you firmly against the back of his door. When he had taken you to dinner tonight the last thing he expected was bringing you back here, but now that he had you he had no plans on letting you leave.
“I’d like to argue that it’s you, who’s intoxicating” he pants, kissing you feverishly back. You smiled against his lips, kissing him back just as hungry. Charlie was growing addicted to your voice, your lips, your touch. He pulls you in close, keeping you both firmly pressed against the door because suddenly he had all the time in the world for you.
You relaxed into the kiss, completely giving yourself to him as he basked in the feeling of his body against yours. He could have you any way he wanted, even against this door. He can feel his heart beat racing as he kisses you. Every time he did it took over his mind and his body began to crave you more and more. You were addictive like a drug that he just couldn’t get enough of. Now that he had a taste he was never going to stop.
You lift up your hands to run your fingers through his hair, tugging softly just as your tongue begins to explore his mouth. You whimper softly when his calloused hand drags down your side, hooking under your knee, and lifting to lock your one leg around his waist. When he’s settled against you, you can’t help the soft moan that escapes into his own mouth. He can’t stop himself from rolling his hips against you and the notion dragged a moan out of him that matched your own.
You clench around nothing as he continues to roll his hips into your own and his mouth begins to trail down your neck. He’s practically out of breath, heart racing furiously as he anticipates what could happen next. “I’ll never get enough of you,” he mutters softly against your neck, hands gripping tightly at your waist.
“Better indulge yourself then” you say with a grin and he smiles before leaving a teasing kiss just below your jawline. He wanted to cover your neck in hickey’s, mark your skin, make you his own. When he starts to suck a particular spot on your neck you find yourself reaching forward and slowly undoing the buttons on his shirt. When you get it pushed off his shoulders Charlie’s hand suddenly lands on your breast, kneading softly over the fabric. The feeling brings you to meet your hips against his own.
With his shirt now gone you begin to lift your own, smiling as Charlie watches you with a deep gulp, revealing all that bare skin. When your hands finally unclasp your bra, you’re pretty sure Charlie’s reached euphoria watching it slide slowly down your arms. He was much like a starving man as he eyed your now bare chest. He let out a shuddering breath before trailing his hands across the soft skin there, caressing you gently. Slowly he leans down, kissing the top of your breast and you can’t help the gasp that falls from your lips.
Charlie doesn’t need anymore confirmation as he begins to suck your breast softly into his mouth, tongue tracing the outline of your nipple as he provided attention to both. He couldn’t stop himself from leaving a trail of bruises across your chest, marking his territory as he claimed it as his own. As your head tipped back against the wall you felt the boys fingers tuck into the waist line of your skirt, slowly nudging the fabric down your legs. He was desperate to taste you, slowly moving to his knees in front of you.
He looked up at you with his intense dark eyes just to watch your own expression and how breathless he had made you. He had only just barely tasted you and now he was determined for more. Yet your hands on his shoulders stop him from going any lower, the smile on your face devious. It actually makes him nervous, anticipating your neck move when he was already so wrecked for you. Straining against his pants and begging to be released.
“Me first,” is all you say, lifting him to stand up straight and guiding him towards the bed. It’s the first time he’s never been in control and yet he lets you move him anyway. A small grunt leaving his lips as you shove him down onto the bed and start with the buckle on his pants. His eyebrows raise as you eye the visible tent in his pants.
“This exactly how you want me boss?” he asks, a sarcastic tone laced with his voice and you smirk, hand cupping his length over the fabric and watching how he shudders just from the slight sensation.
“Yeah, laid out and nice and pretty for me” he blushes at the words, not expecting them or your sudden dominant attitude. It makes him twitch against your palm and your smirk somehow widens. Slowly you lean down to kiss him as you unbutton and unzip his pants, only breaking away to guide them down his legs. You waste no time by removing his boxers with them, eyes shamelessly staring at his hardened length. Standing proud and tall, grazing across his abdomen all angry and red. It almost had to be painful how badly he wanted you.
Charlie can’t help but stare at you, his eyes darkened with desire as he watches through half-lidded eyes. His breathing is already becoming shallow, and his heart is beginning to race. A few spots of red spread across his pale skin as he waits for your touch, watching with anticipation. He can’t remember the last time he’s ever been as desperate as he is now. What was even worse was how easily he had caved to you, no longer in control and needy for your touch.
Slowly you drop to your knees, hands landing on his bare thighs, caressing them slowly and mouth watering at the sight of him. His hips involuntarily buck and it makes you smirk, realizing he was puddy in your hands. He needed you and you planned to hold out, tease him as long as you could get away with before the poor boy burst. His body is already straining with need for your touch. Even though he so desperately wanted to take control, he couldn’t seem to find himself moving. He couldn’t help but let out a moan, his head lolling back onto the mattress as he bucked his hips up once again.
“So pretty” you muse, admiring the sight of him begging to be touched. Beads of pre-cum roll down his tip and you hold back despite how your mouth waters.
Your words make his breath hitch in his throat, and more of his skin begin to flush. Noticing the way you were admiring him already made his mind fuzzy. He can’t help but whine and buck his hips again slightly, desperate for any form of touch from you. He never thought he’d end up like this, squirming and needy for once. Every other experience he had before it was the other way around. Had the once great and mighty Charlie Dalton become a submissive in bed?
“I could stare at you for hours” you tell him, sighing softly as you trace your finger up the length of him. He trembles at your touch, needing more, begging for more. Your touch was like liquid fire across his skin, and it sent another shudder through his body.
“Please….” He whines, his chest heaving. He was wrecked, a mess, and nearly fighting off tears that were burning at the back of his eyes.
“Please what?” you urge, encouraging him to use his words and loving the control you suddenly had over him. He lets out a frustrated whine as you encourage him to use his words, his mind feeling hazy at the sound of your voice commanding him. He tried to put together the words in his head, but all that could come out in the moment was another desperate plea.
“Please, more…” he pants, eyes darting between where she kneels between his legs and the ceiling above him. He feels helpless, like he’s drowning and you’re the only one who can save him.
“You’re gonna have to be more specific than that baby, need to know exactly what you want” you’re evil, he’s quite sure of it. Especially when you grin, slowly wrapping your hand around the base of his length, enjoying how blown out his eyes are from how needy he is.
“Anything, please. Whatever you want, I just need you” but it’s the wrong answer, it cause your hand to release him and strangled whine that leaves his throat surprises you both.
“I’m going to need specifics” your eyebrows are raised, face way to calm for the panic rushing through him from how badly he needed you. At this rate a single touch would send him over the edge in seconds.
“You. I just want you. I want you to touch me, to give me anything, please…” he begs, voice whiny and high pitched. He should be embarrassed but his desire for you outweighed that feeling more. Realizing you’d turned him into a puddle for barely nothing you try to make things a bit easier on him.
“Charlie, my hands or my mouth?” he hand is wrapped back around him, slowly guiding it up and offering some pressure to his impending release.
“I-I don’t know” he stutters and you sigh, releasing him again. It almost made you feel bad but it also turned you on too.
“Decide or you get neither” your voice is serious and his cock twitching in front of you shows he wouldn’t be able to handle not having any relief. You either did something or he suffered. He lets out a helpless noise, eyes glued to your face before speaking.
“I want your mouth, please. I need it” You grin before wrapping your hand around the base of his length again. Charlie tips his head back into the bed as you wrap your lips around his tip. He smiles softly as your tongue slowly glides across, finally providing him some relief. He whines desperately as you lower yourself, taking more and more of him in. Finally finding solace in the soft warmness of your mouth.
“Oh God” He groans, his entire body relaxing the moment he got what he wanted. He moans softly as you bob your lips around him. His hips bucking slightly, but quickly making sure not to overwhelm you as he shivers against the mattress. His breath was coming out in huffs, and he still wasn’t sure he could making it out of this alive.
You continue to bob your head up and down his length. Hollowing your cheeks out and providing the relief he so desperately needed. You moan against him when his fingers tangle your hair, the sensation making him shudder beneath you. You love how whiny he is as he tries not to grind into your mouth. You’re giving him exactly what he wants, hitting the back off your throat as your warm tongue traces the vein up his length.
“You look so beautiful like this, baby” He moans, his words becoming praise instead of sentences at this point. He couldn’t help himself, he was so overwhelmed by the feeling of your mouth and he could stop that or the occasional curse.
“You’re even prettier, all worked up for me” you say after removing your mouth, proudly flaunting the drool and tears that stream down your face from the pleasure. Charlie groans, suddenly getting harder at the sight and you just smiles before taking him back into your mouth.
You have no plans of stopping, sucking him for all he’s worth and taking all of him that you can. He finds himself close to finish when your lips meet the base of him, his length entirely in your mouth. His hips stutter when he feels himself nearing his release, but his moans are quickly turning into gasps of air as his mind turns to mush. He can feel himself falling further and further into a sea of pleasure as he nears his edge, his moans becoming more and more frequent.
“I-I’m so close…” you only move faster, bobbing quickly and sucking him as hard as you can as you urge him to release. It hits him all at once, the finish whiting out his vision as he cums without warning. He coats the back of your throat but your movements never cease. Bowling him through his finish. His breathing is shaky as he looks up at you with half-lidded eyes while your movements begin to slow. He needs a moment to catch his breath, air leaving his lungs as if he ran a marathon.
“Such a good boy” you praise as you release him, arm wiping the drool and tears from your face. Yet the smile you wear shows you didn’t mind it one bit. In fact you had enjoyed every second and you were still wearing your skirt and panties.
“Is it my turn now?” he asks, breath still heavy and you laugh as you crawl up his form. Smirking at the way he winces when his length brushes against you.
“I’m all yours” is the last thing you say before he finally returns to the Charlie he was before. Rolling and pinning you to the bed in order to return the favor. Which he does happily as he finally removes the clothes from your form.
“Now this is what I’m talking about”
Hi, Dove! Could you, please, write some Todd Anderson fluff? ♥ Maybe something about sunshine!female reader, she's also kinda shy, but not quite like Todd. She's really academically gifted, writes poems, but is unsure of herself. They know each other from school, but have never really spoken before, and then they accidentally run into each other during free period at the woods (where they like to spend some time alone and just read or write) and they bond.
It doesn't have to be about this, just any Todd fluff would be great! There is not enough dps content out here
𖤓She’s like being bathed in sunlight𖤓
Welton had recently allowed girls to attend and your parents being the stuck up people they are, wanted their daughter to attend the best school possible. It hadn’t been so bad, you had made a few friends with the other girls who had started attending and some of the boys who you found the most tolerable. You found making friends hard at the best of times but being somewhere like Welton made it that much harder.
You found your favourite lesson to be English and it wasn’t necessarily because of the subject but more so the teacher. Mr keating managed to make even the most boring parts of the curriculum exciting. Before him you found poetry to be a wasted subject on yourself yet mr keating had turned you into a poet. He brought the writer out of you and showed you just how fun it could be. A subject you used to hate had turned into a hobby of yours, you found yourself writing down poetry and inspiration for poems all the time. Your poems had recently taken a more romantic turn as you had found a muse.
It started when mr keating drew the whole classes attention to a boy who sat in the top corner of the class, usually just out of sight from you, blocked by many students heads. He had encouraged the boy to read aloud a poem from the top of his head. You had never taken note of him before yet him and his poem entranced you. It tugged a core deep inside you that ‘the truth is a blanket that always left your feet cold’. He became the subject from all your poems then on. You always kept your feelings to your self in your notebook, never being sure of yourself enough to ever act on your feelings.
You didn’t know much about him apart from that he hung out with Neil, someone you spoke to occasionally to compare homework answers with. You wrote about how he made you feel. Your favourite spot to write poetry was just on the outskirts of the woods. There was a big willow tree back from the edge of the lake that provided shelter from direct sun yet still allowed it to feel like a summers day. You sat down in your usual spot and let your eyes rest on the moving water to think of your next poem.
Unbeknownst to you todd had knew about you since your first day of attendance. How could he not notice you, you were like a sunray leaving warmth and happiness everywhere you went. He admired you from afar and noticed how many people were attracted to your presence like people wanted to bathe in your light. What really caught his eye though was your smile. He had never seen one as bright and beautiful as yours.
His friends had quickly caught on to his gazing at you and they teased him relentlessly. They made sure to encourage him to speak to you aswell but Todd could never do that. He couldn’t, you were well.. you. You would never go for someone like him. So instead he wrote his feelings into his notebook and carried it everywhere for when inspiration may strike.
His favourite spot to write poetry was down by the lake. There was a tree on the edge of the wood line just set back from the water. He found no one disturbed him there and he could let his mind wander.
Today was like any other Saturday for you. You were heading down to your spot to write some poetry yet when you wandered towards the tree you noticed a figure already sitting in your spot. You froze with slight shock, no one ever came down here. You slowly stepped towards the tree, curious as to who had found your spot. You found no other than your muse. You stepped backwards to try and turn away before he could see you, you weren’t ready to face him yet. However you stepped on a branch which made quite a loud crack for its size. You cursed whoever wasn’t on your side today as you knew todd was now looking at you. You quickly threw on your best smile and reapproached him, trying to ignore how fast your heart was beating and how your palms clammed up. He looked like a deer caught in headlights which slightly calmed your nerves, you didn’t want him to feel like that around you. To try and calm both your nerves you tried to break the tension that built by greeting him “I hope I’m not interrupting the sweaty toothed madman’s writing but this is usually where I write as well. Do you mind if I join you?”. You regretted your attempt at humour and cringed internally yet Todd didn’t seem to notice still a bit frozen in place, he just about mustered a nod and with that you tentatively sat down next to him. For awhile you sat together in silence until you turned to him with a rush of adrenaline to try to get to know him. He was hesitant to talk and mumbled and tripped over his words but you were patient and never interrupted him. You listened to everything he had to say and Todd was grateful for it even if he couldn’t say it out loud. You spoke about poems and your favourite poets. You enjoyed his company and he enjoyed yours, he could feel himself relaxing around you something that was rare for him to do at Welton. You parted ways when it grew darker and he found himself craving your presence. You both longed to see each other again yet didn’t know if it would ever occur again, both still too afraid to make the move.
However when the next Saturday rolled around and you approached your spot again to find a figure already there you knew you wouldn’t ever have to worry about missing Todd’s presence again.
Yet as many Saturdays passed and you grew closer, neither of you realised the love you both shared for each other. As you both sat under the tree writing poetry about your muses who were sat right next to each other, you both remained clueless and would do for many more Saturdays until you finally read your poetry aloud to each other and discovered many similarities in the muses of the poems.
Charlie Dalton? Got into a real dps mood after watching the movie lol
Tumblr media
part time lover, full time friend (anyone else but you by the moldy peaches)
. . .
charlie dalton.
you had known him for years. there wasn't a part of you; for better or worse, that he hadn't seen. and you had seen him, for him, those moments that were so fleeting because he kept his true self so hidden from others, from you.
it was only natural that you developed feelings that veered toward the more romantic sort. of course, you were content to only be part of his life as a friend. it was easier that way.
and it was only natural that charlie ruined the content delusional world you lived in when he kissed you at a party.
full of liquor, feeling like you might be sick any minute, that all vanished when charlie placed that gentle kiss to your lips. full and sure of himself.
his thumb swiping over your cheek in a tender moment that twisted your heart painfully because...
because it was one thing to dream and fantasize about what it would be like to have this moment with charlie. to love him. to have him. but now that you had a small taste, it made the longing harder to bear.
especially when it happened again. and again. and again. until you came to expect it at least once when you attended a party with him.
it was only a matter of when, not if, your heart would give out - unable to take any more of this torture.
. .
charlie was a coward.
he knew it with every sweet kiss he bestowed upon you, it would be easier if they were passionate, lust-filled. an easy excuse. but it was never like that with you.
you were safe, you were comfort, you were home.
so of course he fell in love with you. he just couldn't tell you that because it was selfish, you deserved better than him.
he couldn't help, though, the careful way he touched you after a kiss. wanting the moment to linger, waiting for his heart to steady, hoping you would say something this time.
instead he pulls away, and instead of taking the risk, acts like the friend he's been for years until he can't resist his heart's pull to you.
. .
you're waiting for the train, shivering from the wind that is blowing through the open station. charlie leans against you, arm offering warmth, and maybe something else. you don't know anymore.
the train is late, the attendant had said so, but you didn't mind much.
conversation had been flowing for a while but dropped off into silence. and you didn't mind that either.
it was exhausting talking to charlie like there wasn't a giant elephant in every moment with him, screaming 'i love you i love you i love you'.
the train whistles and you look down the tracks to watch it approach, but you sigh when it's the wrong one. more waiting. passengers get on and off.
it leaves the station and there is a sudden darkness that takes over the area. you can see a few splatters of stars in the sky.
you turn to charlie, he's been too quiet, but when you turn he kisses you softly. a barely there peck.
completely sober, not an ounce of inebriation, looking at you with a look that sets your heart racing.
"can you forgive me for being a fool?"
you kiss him somehow, it's clumsy, you're smiling too much. and you almost knock charlie off balance, but he remains firm. returning the kiss with force.
"i think i can."
full time friend made into a full time lover.
TW: suicide (not explicit/graphic but lots of talks about it)
A/N: We’ll just pretend like Neil didn’t actually die, it was a failed suicide attempt. I won’t go into details, so imagine whatever you want.
This was probably the worst Christmas ever. Not because your brother, Neil, was still in the hospital. Not because your parents were arguing all the time. Because you were alone. And being alone sucks. So yes, this was the worst Christmas.
After learning about Neil’s attempt. Your mom begged you to come back home early, while your dad couldn’t care less, as long as your grades didn’t suffer from it. You were generally appreciated by your teachers and managed to get out of school a week earlier. Anyway, you did agree with your mom, you had to come back home, not for them but for Neil.
He and you had always been close growing up. You weren’t the best at making friends and often you would just hang out with him. Never did he make you feel like you weren’t welcome. As you grew up, your bond only got stronger. You could talk about anything with him, share even your deepest and darkest thoughts, and he could do the same. Hence, you knew he wasn’t doing all too well. But you also knew that he had just met someone, someone marvellous, who could change his life. Maybe naively, you thought that this boy was enough to keep the darkness at bay, but you were wrong.
No matter how much your dad was blaming himself. No matter how much your mom was blaming herself. No matter how much Todd was blaming himself. No matter how much Neil’s friends were blaming themselves.
You were the one to blame.
“We are not having Christmas dinner tomorrow night!” you heard your dad scream from downstairs.
“Yes, we are! Neil is getting out tomorrow,” said your mom.
“Christmas dinner is on the 24th, after mass. That’s how it’s always been and how it will always be. That’s it!”
“Well, I’m not cooking anything!”
“Yes, you will be!”
This didn’t sound good at all. You wanted to get out of the house before something else happened. You tiptoe out of your room and quietly made your way downstairs. Your mom said something you couldn’t quite hear.
“Women!” said your dad in retaliation.
You froze. You didn’t want to, because you had to get out. But it was like this massive weight had suddenly dropped on your chest and you couldn’t do anything. Breathing was becoming more and more difficult. You tried your hardest to calm down, but you couldn’t focus your eyes on anything. Everything was blurry.
“Sweetie, are you going on your Christmas walk?” your mom suddenly asked.
That snapped you out of it.
“Y-yes… I won’t be too long.”
And quickly you put on your coat and boots and headed out.
Your Christmas walk was actually Neil and your Christmas walk. Usually, on Christmas Eve, you would go on a walk, just the two of you, catching up on the months you spent apart. You would walk for as long as you needed, sometimes not even talking, just enjoying each other’s presence and the quietness of the winter day.
And so you walked alone for a while, not really knowing where to go.
“Y/N!” someone called out.
You turned just in time to see Charlie almost fall head first in the snow trying to put on his coat and boots at the same time. Charlie while Neil’s best friend. Well, even more than that, he was his childhood best friend. You knew him too, of course, you were even close to him once upon a time. But high school and Welton got in the way, and you barely saw each other anymore.
“Y/N, wait up!”
“Hi, Charlie.”
“Hey,” he said, finally reaching you, “would you…”
He dropped down and started tying his boots.
“Yeah, I’ll wait.”
After a minute, he got up again.
“Hi,” he said, smiling.
“Hi.”
“How are things, is Neil back home?”
“Um… things are… okay… Neil is only coming back tomorrow though, I thought you knew.”
“No, I tried to call to ask, but your dad hung up on me.”
“That’s not fair!”
“It’s okay…”
“It’s absolutely not okay! You deserve to know! My dad’s a jerk anyway.”
“Why are you… did something happen?”
He sounded more worried than you would’ve thought. Charlie was, well, Charlie. You couldn’t go telling him how much you hated your dad and how much life at home had been hell since Neil’s attempt. So you didn’t say anything.
The both of you kept on walking for a while, aimlessly, in silence.
“So were you like waiting for me to walk down the street,” you finally asked, breaking the silence.
“No, well, Neil once told me about your Christmas walks and I thought maybe I could catch you, see how things were, but I wasn’t like camping out at the window or anything, that would be totally weird… I wasn’t being weird…”
“What did Neil tell you?” you asked, completely avoiding his awkwardness.
“Just that you would go on walks on Christmas Eve.”
You fell silent again. You walked down a couple more streets.
“How was school?” he asked.
“Okay, probably not as fun as your semester. Professor Keating, right?”
“Yeah, he was cool…”
Silence again. A few more streets.
“Having a nice Christmas,” you asked.
“As good as it can get with…”
Silence. More walking.
You weren’t really keeping track of where you were walking, and suddenly you were at the edge of a forest. When you were a kid, you used to go out there and play for hours, pretending to do magic and talking to forest spirits. That was until your dad learned about it and firmly made you understand you weren’t allowed there ever again. He was right, for once, because the forest had absolutely no path. Even on a sunny day, you could easily get lost and on days like this Christmas eve, you could easily die if you didn’t make it back out.
You weren’t thinking anymore, only walking.
“Y/N?” said Charlie, grabbing your wrist.
You wriggle free of his grip and kept walking.
“Y/N!” he said, grabbing your wrist again, this time pulling you to him.
You didn’t even react and almost crashed into him. You were so close, you had to look up to meet his eyes.
“Y/N, what was that? You were like a ghost! You could die of like hypothermia if you headed out there! That’s not like you to act like that!”
“Maybe it is…”
“You… Y/N…” he said softly, “I need you, you can’t… you can’t do that!”
He pulled you closer to him, one hand wrapping around your waist, the other pushing your head down on his shoulder. And you cried. And cried and cried and cried. You cried until there wasn’t any force left in you for you to cry even more. Then slowly you pulled away from him. You looked up, only to see that his eyes were red. He gently placed a hand and your cheek, wiping a single tear before it froze.
“I know I’m being selfish by saying that I need you, but it’s the truth. I won’t shy away from it. But you got to find your own reasons to stay, you can’t just do it for me. But I’ll help you if you want me to.”
You smiled at him. A genuine smile, that was probably the first since you heard about Neil.
“Thank you,” you whispered.
“Now come on,” he said, wrapping his arm around your shoulder and leading you away from the forest, ”I hope you like turkey, cause my mom made way too much! And we’ll call your parents to invite them once we’re home.”
“Did your mom make her apple pie?”
“You bet she did, why?”
“We should save some for Neil.”
“Then we will!”
Our Last Summer - Charlie Dalton
Tumblr media
Pairing: Charlie Dalton x reader
Warnings: None!
Summary: It’s Y/n’s last summer in Vermont before going to college. And it’s the last time she will see de poets & Charlie.
The end of summer was coming and the poets and y/n arranged to meet each other at the train station for a last goodbye.
Y/n was packing her suitcase, alone, in her room. She would not see her friends again. She thought everyone would forget the crazy adventures they had, the meetings, the laughters… She thought everyone would forget about her, that they would get on with their lives. That everyone would go to college, would get married, buy a house and find a good job. And those days would be just a memory.
But she was even more sad because apart from all of those things. She would never see Charlie again. She loved him since the first time she saw him, but she was too shy to tell him nothing. She treated him like a normal friend. She didn’t show any kind of affection towards him, but in the inside, she was dying to tell him, she was dying for him, she was dying for a kiss.
She couldn’t think about anything else right now, and she thought that she needed to tell him before disappearing from his live forever . She stopped packing, she grabbed her jacket and her bike, and she went to Charlie’s house.
She stopped at the hall, she knew his parents weren’t home and she remembered Charlie told her they hide a copy of the keys inside the mailbox. She grabbed it, and she stood still in front of the door before opening it. Thinking if she should do it.
“Fuck it!” She said to her self in a low tone of voice.
She entered the house and went straight upstairs to Charlie’s room, almost tripping. She opened the door, hardly breathing, exhausted. Charlie turned startled. Y/n looked at him in the eyes, with a tenderly look in her face.
“I LOVE YOU, I love you ever since I’ve known you Charlie. I love you and I’m so sorry for not telling you before. I just wanted you to know” said y/n, she turned around to leave, but Charlie grabbed her arm and pulled her in for a hug.
“I love you too y/n, but I was so scared to tell you. I thought you didn’t like me back” said Charlie grabbing her face by the chin now.
“We can’t do anything now right?” she asked almost crying.
“I don’t think so darling” said Charlie placing his head on hers and letting a tear roll down his face.
The two teenagers stood there for a moment in the middle of the room, hugging each other. They felt the touch of their skins rubbing against each other, his warm breathe on her neck, his strong grip around her waist, her hands caressing his hair, drying his tears with her thumb.
Charlie, bended down a little bit, and kissed her, he kissed her so softly and slowly. The world seemed to stop for both of them. They separated a little, their noses still touching each other. Their eyes so close.
“I love you, and i will always remember you” said Charlie still grabbing her face close to his.
“I’ll miss you a lot Charlie” she said holding the tears back.
“I will never forget you”
She started crying, he hug her tightly and they stood there, one against each other, hoping that moment would last forever.
