Collapsed building / Equipment failure / "I never knew daylight could be so violent."

Noctis was so bored out of his mind, he nearly fell asleep during the meeting. However, he forced himself awake by shaking his head when he nearly fell asleep, blinking his eyes.

The man and Ignis were still droning on and on about this politic and that, and while Noctis knew he had his duty as a king, he still couldn't help but feel bored. However, after everything that had happened ten years ago, he felt he should do his duty instead of messing around like he used to.

Occasionally, Noctis piped up to suggest some ideas, but beside that, he let Ignis do most of the talking. He wasn't used to these types of things. He was glad that Ignis, Gladio, and his husband, Prompto, were there to help him if needed.

He felt Prompto squeeze his hand slightly, and Noctis jerked awake again, blinking his eyes before turning to his beloved. Prompto smiled, before whispering, "Still sleepy after all these years?"

"Yeah…" Noctis yawned with a shrug, "I'm doing what I can to do what I need to do, but ugh… even now, meetings are so boring."

"Sometimes you have to do what you need to do," Prompto pointed out, "You're doing great, Noct."

Noctis quirked a smile at this. Prompto, for years, had been so supportive of the king, and he was lucky to marry someone like him. The two had been close for years, and their love for each other grew ever since the sun returned.

Ignis and the man appeared to have made an agreement, and they shook hands. Noctis sighed internally. Finally. The meeting was finally over—

BOOM

The building shook then, and Gladio, Ignis, and the man nearly fell on the ground. Noctis and Prompto jumped from their seats as they try to steady themselves from the sudden earthquake. Noctis' ears rang as his heart pounded in his chest. What was that? An earthquake? But there was no newscast regarding natural disasters. What was going on?

"Someone blew a bomb in the building!" All five of them heard a voice scream from a distance, "Evacuate! The building is going to collapse!"

The man bolted for the door and disappeared, never to be seen again. Gladio immediately took Ignis' hand and yelled out to the other two, "C'mon!"

Noctis and Prompto didn't need to be told twice. Grabbing each other's hands, they followed Gladio and Ignis out of the room, as the ceiling began to collapse above them. Noctis could hear screaming around him as people fled the scene; at the corner of his eye he could see a small fire engulfing a nearby staircase.

"Keep running!" Gladio yelled, and Noctis realized that he and Ignis were further ahead. Noctis hurried faster with Prompto not far behind him.

The black haired man coughed as smoke entered his lungs, and he felt small bits of debris falling on his head. Prompto was also coughing from the smoke, but the two continued to run towards the emergency exit. Gladio and Ignis were already there, waving at the two to hurry, that the building would collapse any minute.

Just a little more. Then we're—

He heard a gasp of surprise behind him, and he felt Prompto's hand slip from Noctis'. Noctis turned and realized that his beloved tripped on a piece of debris.

"Prom!" Noctis cried, running back to help his husband up, despite Gladio and Ignis yelling out to keep running. He was not going to leave Prompto behind. Not like this.

He helped Prompto back on his feet, failing to notice the roof collapsing around them. By the time he realized this, it was too late; the building began to collapse, with large debris falling straight towards the couple.

Prompto shouted something Noctis missed, and he was suddenly shoved out of the emergency exit. Their eyes met then; horrified ones to resigned ones, as Prompto disappeared in the debris.

Noctis' eyes widened, his breath caught in his throat, as he stumbled to the ground. He could only watch as the entire building collapsed, with nothing remaining of it after a few seconds.

"PROMPTO!" Noctis screamed, tears filling his eyes as he stood from the ground. He rushed forward to the remains of the building, but Gladio gripped the collar of his shirt, keeping him in place.

"Noct!" Gladio yelled, "It's dangerous! Get back!"

"NO!" Noctis screamed, "Prompto's still in there! I have to get him out!"

"You can't help him if you don't back away, Noct—" Gladio warned, but he lost his grip on Noctis' shirt, and Noctis barreled towards the wreckage.

"NOCTIS!" Both Gladio and Ignis screamed, and without a moment's hesitation, rushed towards the wreckage to stop the king. They pushed away large debris and rubble as they searched for the runaway king, screaming out Noctis' name along the way. The two kept their eye on the mount of black hair, but they were unable to relocate him—it was as if he disappeared into thin air.

"NOCTIS!" Gladio screamed, "Come back here or I swear to Shiva's tits, I'll—"

Gladio paused when he and Ignis heard heavy breathing close by, along with sniffling. He glanced at Ignis, who pursed his lips in worry.

"You're so stupid, Prom," a voice—Noctis', Gladio recognized—whispered, and the two heard hands digging into rubble, "you're not supposed to be the one caught in the crossfire. If you're dead, I'll kill you myself—"

Both Gladio and Ignis ran forward, listening in on Noctis' voice. The king's voice was trembling, on the verge of tears. Not a good sign.

They eventually came across Noctis, who managed to find Prompto, buried under the rubble. A stream of blood flowed down the blond's forehead, and he was unconscious. Noctis was holding Prompto's hand, trying to hold in a sob to no avail.

"Noct," Gladio whispered, "move."

"B-b-but Prompto—" Noctis tried to whisper, but Gladio shook his head.

"We're gonna get Prompto outta there. Sitting there and crying ain't gonna help him now."

"But he could be dead!" Noctis exclaimed, "What if—"

"Noctis." Gladio growled, using Noctis' full name. Noctis paused and froze in shock. "Let. Us. Help. If you don't, Prompto will definitely die."

Upon hearing that last sentence, Noctis knew that Gladio was right. He moved aside then, reluctantly letting Prompto's hand go with a sigh. Gladio could see the guilt and sadness in his eyes and he frowned. He knew how much he loved Prompto, and how he cared for him. Losing Prompto in such a way would devastate him.

With a sigh, Gladio crouched down and took Prompto's hand, feeling for a pulse. Weak, but still alive. Thank Cosmos.

He gathered as much rubble as he could, grabbing the largest parts of it, and he pulled. He gritted his teeth, as he grunted and panted. It took a few minutes, but finally, he managed to pull the large rubble off of Prompto's body.

"Iggy," Gladio ordered, "think you could call an ambulance?"

"On it," Ignis was already on the case—with his cell phone, he called 911 and began speaking to the operator from the other end. "Yes, a bombing has occurred here. The king's husband is severely hurt. We're in…"

Noctis could only watch as the scene unfolded in front of him, tears threatening to fall. This was all his fault. If he had been more careful, Prompto wouldn't be in this state. He would be okay. Not buried under the rubble, nearly dying.

"N-N-Noc…"

The three froze when they heard Prompto's quivering voice. Noctis' eyes widened, as he rushed forward and knelt down to the fallen blond.

Prompto began to stir, groaning in pain as he slowly glanced up at Noctis. He was hardly breathing, but alive.

"Prompto!" Noctis gasped, and without warning, wrapped his arms around Prompto. Tears fell then, as he sobbed. Prompto couldn't help but smile as he returned the hug as best as he could.

"Whoa, hey, babe, too tight, I'm gonna suffocate more," he joked. Leave it to Prompto for cracking jokes at the worst times.

"Don't ever scare me like that again," Noctis whispered, burying his face in Prompto's shoulder.

"You'd do the same for me," Prompto pointed out, "you can't be the only one who's a self sacrificing idiot here."

Gladio and Ignis shook their heads, with Ignis pinching the bridge of his nose in exasperation. Gladio could have sworn he heard Ignis mutter, "Idiots."

They were glad that help had finally arrived; they didn't have to lose any more brain cells seeing these two idiots.

I (poll host Sweets), as of now, am still the only person running this account and school has actually started back up for me recently. 1. Kristen Barry-Ordinary Life 

-This one has been the driving force behind my RE8 fic with Karl and Sonja (The Sacrifice). I’m not finished with the story still, but I keep revisiting this song because I feel it captures their connection. The melody is a bit haunting too and fits with the overall plot and setting. 

2. Tourist-We Stayed Up All Night 

-I had a classmate of mine in college who I deeply bonded with share this with me when we worked on an assigned art project together. We stayed on campus, in the open art studio and painted for hours. Literally from 9pm until 7 in the morning, we were listening to this on repeat and having some Deep Talk (tm). I’ve been applying this song to my first reader x canon character fanfic (Ardyn FFXV). I’ve been able to come up with some good bonding scenes with this one. 

3. Motopony-Daylight’s Gone 

-This is definitely an earworm song for me. Once I get the bug, I’ll listen to it on repeat especially when I’m driving. This and another I listened to the most when I was road tripping in CA in 2021. Daylight’s Gone helped me come with a good conflict scene between two protagonists in a zombie novel I’ve been plotting down for a couple years. 

4. Sara Bareilles-Gravity

-Another classmate in college introduced me to this one. She did a series of couples kissing based on songs, and I remember the piece that went to this song was explosive with purples. Gravity has helped me build up some of the more emotional scenes I plan on putting into both The Sacrifice and the reader x Ardyn story. 

5. Example-Changed The Way You Kissed Me 

-I got nothing for WIPS 😂 I heard this in a nightclub at Portland and it stuck with me for a LONG time. I remember it was fun AF to crowd jump to.

Not many are privy to the information that he still fights against indecipherable shadow and living nightmares. How? By ignoring them, naturally.

When Squall’s pulled from the mess that is Time Compression, something isn’t quite the same. For a while, he ignores it – the soulless void inside – and resumes his role as Commander. Slowly, though, cracks start to show. One simple mission turns into an absolute massacre and he just – doesn’t care. He prefers the silence when the screaming stops. And if he slowly drags the newest impressionable Sorceress along the path with him from their willing connection… so what?

With much of his younger years being a blurry mess, Squall spends most of his time roaming lands as ‘help for hire’ while seeking snippets of the who and why he exists. Endlessly drawn to where the Mako is most potent, it’s how he winds up reluctantly partnering up with the AVALANCHE rebel faction on a mission or two. He can’t complain – they have a vendetta against ShinRa that he happily uses to his advantage.

Daylight. [FFXV] 

Years of serving at an elite military academy (and once guiding it through a victorious war), a fateful encounter in the beautiful city of Insomnia changes Squall’s directive. After successfully applying for the exclusive membership club of the Kingsglaive, he jumps in head-first and welcomes everything protecting the King wrings. Life is never uneventful.

What’s New Pussycat? [Cursed AU]

Due to a mistake made by his wayward parents, Squall’s cursed at a young age. Born as an ordinary, unmagical human, his body being forced to mimic that of a Shifter – the timing spontaneous without discrimination of time or place – is slowly wearing on him and, he fears, killing him. Learning what he can of curses and their creators, most of his free time when not working or living is spent traversing in search of someone who can nullify the hex.

Twenty-five and five years free from his military service, Squall runs a vehicle maintenance workshop, ‘Griever’s.’ for all lightweight transport. Withdrawing further into himself after the catastrophic end of duty, being the only mechanic in town helps to keep him in business. Allegedly, an abrasive attitude and disinterested demeanour isn’t favourable in the business world. Tch, whatever.

Dude, FFXV characters as Dead by Daylight killers and survivors would be dope! oUo And it’s actually something I found myself pondering on too. Fun headcanon/daydreaming~

And since you brought it up, we may as well make it into a fun headcanon, yeah? C: LET’S START WITH KILLERS!

Somniphobia – FFXV x Dead by Daylight Headcanons (Killer Version)

Noctis Lucis Caelum – The Insomniac

Weapon: Father’s GlaivePower: Lucian Crystal – A mysterious power that allows The Insomniac to teleport around the map by leaving crystal-like rifts called Fissures at points across the map. Similar to the Hag’s traps, they can be destroyed by survivors with flashlights or can be ‘shattered’ by survivors, at the expense of losing a health state (without downing the survivor). With rarer add-ons, these rifts cannot be destroyed and/or can be invisible to survivors, and can randomly spawn without the Insomniac creating them, making him exceptionally skilled at patrolling the map and ambushing survivors with well-placed Fissures.

Perks::

Sleepless – Injuring a survivor will cause a Survivor’s exhaustion timer to be stunted for a certain amount of time. A higher ranks, the stunting duration will be longer.

Chosen by the Crystal – You become obsessed with a survivor. Per ever generator that is complete, your Obsession’s aura is revealed for a short amount of time, and your terror radius is reduced to 0 for a short amount of time. Once the last generator is complete, the Obsession’s aura is revealed to you for a longer amount of time, and your terror radius cannot be detected by the Obsession.

Bad Omens – After you regress a generator, and a survivor resumes work on a a generator, the generator’s aura is highlighted to you for a moderate amount of time.

Other Good Perks: Tinkerer, Rancor, Overwhelming PresenceCounter Perks: Quick and Quiet, Vigil, Spine Chill, Premonition

Prompto Argentum – The Machine

Weapon: Destroyed Pistol (Yes, he hits people with the back of his gun)Power: Photographer’s Camera – Once with a dream to become a photographer, the Machine puts his passions to use with a power that allows him to blind and disorient survivors within range of his ability. The ability can prove useful in disorienting survivors in chase and catching them off-guard when ambushing them. Add-ons for the Machine’s camera can even allow for better aura-reading and farther range – a trade of subtly for being able to locate survivors more easily.

Perks::

Smile For the Camera – Similar to Sloppy Butcher, whenever you injure a survivor, the survivor is inflicted with the Blindness effect, reducing one’s aura-reading ability until healed up to full. 

Tragic Realization – When the final generator has been completed, your aura is revealed to the survivors in the trial for a short duration. You are able to kill survivors by your own hand without the use of a mori. This perk does not expose survivors.

Technical Difficulties – Each time you regress a generator’s progression, the generator will not allow any new progression on the generator for a certain amount of time. Skill checks hit during Technical Difficulities’s duration will only allow partial progression on the generator.

Other Good Perks: No One Escapes Death, Distressing, Sloppy Butcher, A Nurse’s CallingCounter Perks: Botany Knowledge, Distortion, Stake-Out, Unbreakable

Ignis Scientia – The Retainer

Weapon: Heirloom DaggerPower: Blind Overture – The Retainer suffers from reduced visibility as a killer, with a darkened screen and far more narrow field of vision than any other killer in the game. However, his power makes up for it. When activated, the Retainer gains enhanced aura-reading on survivors that build up. The longer he senses survivors with his ability, it activates Tier II of Blind Overture, which grants the Retainer faster movement speed, a wider and brighter field of vision, and leaves behind a trail that, if a survivor walks through it, triggers a Hindered status effect that makes survivors slower for a short duration or when they walk through his blazing path. This lasts for awhile, but then resets itself to Tier I after it expires. In both forms, the sound is amplified and survivors are easier to hear from distances away. With his add-ons, he can make aura-reading and sensing things such as blood-stains and scratch marks more easy, as well as making the vision in Tier II significantly better for vision and tracking.

Perks::

Adaptive Senses – The sounds of survivors performing tasks are significantly louder. Survivor’s breathing, however, is not affected by this perk.

Overwhelm – Each time you perform a destruction action (destroying pallets and regressing generators), you gain a token. For each token you gain, you gain an additional stack of movement speed.

Twisted Devotion – A Hex perk. For each person injured, their aura is revealed to you when they are a certain radius out from you. Once they heal or the Hex totem is destroyed, their auras are no longer visible to you.

Other Good Perks: Barbecue & Chili, Bitter Murmur, Monitor & Abuse, StridorCounter Perks: Iron Will, Lightweight, Distortion, Technician

Gladiolus Amicitia – The Guardian

Weapon: GreatswordPower: Berserker’s Rage – A power that’s pretty straight forward: it allows the Guardian to go into a berserker’s rage, increasing his movement speed into a full sprint and allowing him to instantly down survivors with his greatsword. The duration lasts for awhile and ends when the Guardian downs a survivor, he gets stunned out of it VIA blindness or a palette slam, or when the timer falls. He gains more of his rage duration recharged when he gets hits by palettes, when kicking generators, or when in chase. It’s a useful perk when chasing down survivors, but it takes patience to fill up – especially when he has an incredibly slow base movement as-is, but a rather far lunge attack, so his kit is very much oriented in boosting his speed for a frightening hunt.

Perks::

Masochism – Whenever you are inflicted with a negative status effect (stunned or blinded), you gain a boost to movement speed for a short time and recover from missed attacks for a short time.

Intimidation – Survivors in your terror radius will take significantly longer to complete tasks, such as healing, repairing, sabotaging, and opening exit gates. Skill checks will also appear more frequently.

On the Hunt – After a survivor unhooks someone, you gain increased movement speed for a short period of time. Bloodstains and scratch marks will become more visible, and the aura of the person who unhooked a survivor will be revealed for a short duration as well.

Other Good Perks: Overwhelming Presence, Fire Up, Make Your Choice, EnduringCounter Perks: Borrowed Time, Leader, Dead Hard, Urban Evasion

The Nifs, they didn’t give him one and I can’t keep calling him kid and well. What do you think about Prometheus?”

There was another silence and just as Nyx was about to speak up again, not really sure about the connection out here, he heard a heavy sigh and something that was too quiet to properly make out but sounded like for fuck’s sake Nyx, seriously?

Before he could comment – because what did he do this time? – Libertus spoke up, something both fond and tired in his tone. “Pretty sure that you’re the thief here Nyx, not the kid.”

Nyx huffed a silent laugh, grinning wildly. “Yeah, I know,” not that the Nifs hadn’t deserved it, no kid should live like that, they’re lucky that all Nyx did was steal the kid and blow the lab up. “But it’s not just that – it’s forethought and creativity and life. And all of that, well. That’s a good legacy for a kid to live by, don’t you think?”

“It’s a good name, Nyx,” Libs said slowly. “It sounds like it suits him. And it’s a family name.”

It was. His great-grandfather had had a brother named for Prometheus. But this wasn’t, he wasn’t…

“He’s not mine Libs,” Nyx said, his smile fading, and he looked away from the hand that he had rested against the toddlers back. He was only 15, too young to be a parent, and he was just looking after the kid.

When they got home, Nyx would make sure that he had a good family to go to and that he was raised happy. “He just needs a name and I’m the only one here, that’s all.”

Libs laughed at him. “If you say so.” And then he hung up, the unspoken by implied you’re an idiot echoing in the silence.

He rolled his eyes.

The kid wasn’t his and he had no idea why everyone kept claiming that he was, but it was irritating. Really, Nyx wasn’t the kid’s dad and why couldn’t anyone get that.

A huff at his side drew his attention and Nyx smiled down at sleepy blue eyes. “Hey, little bird,” he said gently, running a hand against soft hair. “How’d you sleep kiddo?” The kid blinked and he nodded seriously. “Like that huh. I get that. Hey, how’d you like to be called Prometheus?” Another blink was his only response and Nyx took that as an agreement.

“Prometheus it is then,” he murmured, ignoring the way that a part of him gloried in the way that the name rolled off of his tongue, and he grinned brightly at the toddler in his lap. “You hungry, Prom?”

Square Enix has released two new screenshots showcasing the city of Insomnia in the upcoming Final Fantasy XV downloadable content “Episode Ardyn.”
