Battling the dark forces of the universe with a lightsaber, blasting away at the scum and villainy of the underworld, there’s a Star Wars game for just about anyone. There are so many that the amount of content could overload the memory unit of even the most advanced astromech. Well, just take a moment to clear your mind before taking your first step into a larger world to locate the top Star Wars game.

How to get the Steam version of Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II to run properly on Windows 10: A Novel
Hi, i just spent HOURS fixing this game (again), and I am soooooooo frustrated so I wanted to save someone else's life (and probably mine again when I next change computers).
This will fix these issues: -Black screen when enabling 3D acceleration -Mouse sensitivity being too high or too low. -1st person animations being too fast. -Game overall just not working the way it did on Windows XP and Windows 98
Download Jedi Knight "Steam Patch" from here: https://www.moddb.com/games/star-wars-jedi-knight-dark-forces-ii/downloads/steam-patch Alt Download location: (future-proofing): https://drive.google.com/file/d/113Nj_IBlcFLr77Gdi_PSmX6kixB3MYPv/view?usp=sharing
Extract the .zip you just got to the folder where JediKnight.exe is located. To find the folder: Open Steam Library, right click game, Manage>Browse Local Files
Open the file jkgm.json which was just added to the folder. (Open with Notepad). Change "resolution" to whatever resolution you want (I recommend [800,600] because anything above that causes more issues with mouse sensitivity and 1st person animation. There are also fixes for this below). If you want fullscreen back, change "fullscreen" to true
Test the game by running it through Steam. If it's working the way you want it, good. If there are more issues, try these:
• If the mouse and control inputs are now lagging, open jkgm.json again and change these settings: Change "enable_bloom" to false Change "enable_ssao" to false Change "enable_parallax" to false Change "enable_texture_filtering" to false
• If the mouse cursor is slightly off when selecting menu options: use a 4:3 resolution (such as 800x600). Using a 16:9 resolution is what causes the mouse to be off. See step 3.
• If the 1st-person animations are way too fast (noticable when running with a gun in-hand or when swinging the lightsaber): The game's animations are tied to the framerate, but they are also affected by resolution. If you're running at the recommended resolution of 800x600, you should also change the framerate to 30. To change the game's FPS to 30: Right click your desktop, click NVIDIA Control Panel. In the left menu, under 3D Settings, select Manage 3D Settings. Click the Program Settings tab. Click Add. Browse for the game's .exe. Since we used the Steam Patch, the .exe will be called JK-fov95-mipmap.exe If there is an option for "2. Select the preferred graphics processor for this program:" change it to High Performance NVIDIA Processor. Where it says "3. Specify the settings for this program:" Scroll down to find "Max Frame Rate." Set it to 30FPS. Apply. Test the game by running it through Steam.
• If the mouse sensitvity during gameplay is way too high, there are 3 options: -Option 1: In the game's own Setup menu, go to Controls, then Mouse. For the settings of both Mouse X Axis and Mouse Y Axis, turn sensitivity all the way down. Test. -Option 2: In the game's own Setup menu, go to Controls, then Mouse. For the settings of both Mouse X Axis and Mouse Y Axis, uncheck "Map directly to axis value." You may need to turn mouse sensitivity slider all the way up once this has been unchecked. Test. -Option 3: Probably the option you're looking for if the first 2 don't work. Go to the folder where your game .exe is located again. Open player>playername>playername.plr (open with Notepad) Find "bind 1 12 0xd" and change it to 0.1 Find "bind 8 13 0xd" and change it to 0.1 Save. This puts the mouse sensitivity lower than the lowest setting possible through the in-game Setup menu. You can also try 0.15 if 0.1 is too low.
I've had to struggle through making this game work on 3 different operating systems now. This game is very important to me. If you're having trouble feel free to reach out.

hello (one of the) resident phannie data analyst(s) here with some parasocial stats on dnp’s movie tastes! following: distribution of dan and phil's ratings overall, movies they each rated 5 stars, their lowest-rated movies, and the similarities + differences in their tastes
(lore moment: yes i am a data analyst in my real job. yes i surprised myself with wanting to do this in my spare time. but then i remembered when we read dracula in college (yes i was an english major) and i graphed like, how many times dracula was referred to as vampire versus monster or something. so i shouldn’t be surprised.
first up, their overall rating patterns and by ~special status~ (i.e., wall-e, kill bill, avatar, lmao, plus big hero 6 for the fun of it)
dan’s rated 304 movies and phil’s rated 305. both of them have mean and median ratings of 4 with min 1 and max 5.
both rated kill bill vols. 1 and 2 a 5. wall-e got a 4.5 from dan and a 4 from phil (phake phans). both gave avatar a 3.5. and big hero 6 3.5 (dan) and 4.5 (phil)
rating distribution:
Tumblr media
i did analyses here by genre but i need to fix the output (i’m writing all of these based on the markdown document from my phone on the subway, but i need to fix the outputs and i don’t have my computer. so those are pending but there are other genre analyses that i could do & haven’t yet!)

Note
I can’t remember which post it was off the top of my head but you’ve mentioned how George was explicit that nothing in The Clone Wars directly influences Anakin’s fall to the Dark Side, what about indirectly? There’s the obvious one: Anakin finds it easier to give into his anger as the war goes on. But I was also thinking the events of Hardeen and Wrong Jedi arcs weaken Anakin’s trust in the Order that then plays into the circumstances in which his fall to the Dark Side took place. Like that weakened trust meant Anakin distanced himself which gives context for why he refused to go to Obi-Wan when the visions started.
It also fits with his character because one of Anakin’s flaws is that he takes things way to personally, e.g. he was not the only person the Council lied to about Obi-Wan’s fake death. Then when Ahsoka was leaving the Order after the Council let her down, which they did let her down, she had to remind Anakin that it was about her not him.
Of course weakened trust is nowhere near enough to cause someone to commit genocide and Anakin didn’t seem to make any effort to mend those fences either. And of course none of this would have happened without Palpatine manipulating things. Hence my question of how you think The Clone Wars indirectly influenced his journey to the Dark Side even as none of really tied to why Anakin ultimately fell.
I think you summed it up perfectly, actually.
If you're using Lucas' word as the "be-all, end-all", then The Clone Wars is indeed just an asterisk/addendum to the story of the films.
Tumblr media
Its purpose? Providing context for the minor changes between Episode II and Episode III, changes that aren't exactly relevant to the story of Anakin's downfall.
"Anakin seems more mature and less whiny, in Episode III, what happened to change that?" He got a Padawan of his own during the Clone War and when you're put in charge of someone, you grow up real quick.
Tumblr media
"He and Obi-Wan were constantly bickering in Episode II, now they're best buds, why?" In Episode II, Anakin was in Obi-Wan's care but felt he needed to leave the nest, whereas Obi-Wan was being a helicopter parent. In The Clone Wars, we see that once Anakin gets knighted, their relationship smooths over, now becoming a more brotherly bond than a parent/child one. Obi-Wan will sometimes worry that Anakin will fly off the handle, but he's also able to recognize his former Padawan is now his own man, whereas Anakin takes responsibility more frequently, now, due to now having a Padawan of his own.
Tumblr media
"What's the relationship between Anakin and the other Jedi we saw in the background of the movies?" Find out by tuning in to The Clone Wars!
Tumblr media
"The clones have names, now? And they're the Jedi's friends, when did all that happen!" You can find out by seeing them fight side-by-side with the Jedi and slowly becoming independent thinkers, only in The Clone Wars.
Tumblr media
"The Jedi are more scheming and political in Episode III, they and Anakin are at odds... why the shift in attitudes?" They were drafted into a war, and forced to make compromise after compromise to a point where their values have been rendered pointless and they've become begrudging hypocrites. They're playing politics (and sucking at it) because they've been dragged onto a political chessboard and are trying to keep up with a far more skilled opponent. These terrible decisions impact all of them, even Anakin.
Tumblr media
Stuff like that.
But none of that is relevant to Anakin's story, which is more personal, in nature. It's a story about how his own greed turned him into the very thing he swore to destroy, which parallels how the Republic became the Empire for those same reasons.
The films show us this, and The Clone Wars *reinforces* this narrative by giving us further examples of it.
While Anakin is aware of what's right and wrong... the more the war rages on, the more frequently he takes the "easy" path and gives in to his anger and selfish desires, enabled by Palpatine.
Tumblr media
Sometimes Anakin does manage to get a grip, he does manage to take responsibility, he does learn to let go... but then something happens (often orchestrated by Palpatine) and he goes right back to square one... then square zero... then square minus one, etc.
He never takes that final step to being a more enlightened person.
Tumblr media
The Clone Wars challenges the Jedi at times, questions their actions... but ultimately, the responsibility falls on Anakin's shoulders. The series will show you moments where they fail Anakin, but there's as many moments of him failing them.
Could the Jedi have done more? Yes. But if you think them doing more would've solved the problem, you're missing the point of the story of the Prequels.
Functionally, all that is achieved from the Council/Anakin conflict (again, orchestrated by Palpatine), in Episode III, is creating more pressure for Anakin to cave under. That's it.
They're not a meaningful factor in his turn to the Dark Side.
Padmé is.
Tumblr media
When he's hesitating between saving Mace or saving Palpatine...
Tumblr media
... he's not thinking "one of them was nice to me, but the other one was mean to me and kicked out Ahsoka, so I'll chop his hand off".
And he's not thinking "this isn't by the book, Mace you hypocrite!"
Lucas tells us what's going through his head, in that moment.
Tumblr media
It's about Padmé living. And we've already established that what that's really about is "Anakin not wanting to live without her". So, really, it's about Anakin.
Mace and Anakin butting heads isn't even considered. If Mace had been laughing with Anakin and hugging him on the daily, Anakin still would've ended up chopping off his hand. It wasn't about Mace, it was about Anakin.
If Ahsoka had stayed with the Jedi Order, he still would've joined the Dark Side. Because it was never about Ahsoka, it was about Anakin.
If Qui-Gon had lived, Anakin would've still turned. It was never about Obi-Wan or Qui-Gon being the teachers, it was about Anakin.
Because the message of the story is basically that:
"Ultimately, it's up to you to take personal responsibility and be compassionate. If you avoid responsibility and give in to your darker impulses for selfish purposes, bad shit happens. The only meaningful change can come from within."
And in Anakin's case it didn't. He zigged instead of zagging at almost every turn.
Now, you can agree or disagree with that message. But that's what it is. Even some of the current Star Wars authors acknowledge this.
Tumblr media
The story of Anakin Skywalker is told in the movies.
The Clone Wars is there as an addendum to:
Shine a spotlight/provide context on minor changes between Episode II and Episode III.
Humanize Anakin, to further drive the point that what happened to him can happen to anyone.

THE BALLAD OF LOVE AND HATE - PT II
jedi master!suguru x f!princess reader. part of the jjk star wars au! we meet jedi knight gojo, pilot haibara makes an appearance, they are visiting corellia and something dangerous is brewing for pt III. wc 2.9k
divider thanks to @/saradika
PT. I
Tumblr media
Taking a few steps down the landing ramp of your ship, you grin and squint in the harsh midday sun after being inside for so long. It doesn’t stop you from inhaling deeply, taking in the unique smells of Corellia as you look across the landing pad and spot him in an instant.
Suguru Geto - the man you met one year, eight four days, 7 hours ago. How you’ve managed to keep count since the fateful night of that party you can otherwise only barely recall is truly beyond your own understanding, the heart is a fickle mistress after all, but he stands with his hands clasped in front of him.
You’ve dreamt of him every night since, your mind taking things into its own hands with your intentional efforts to not think about him while the sun is up and light spills through your windows. You cannot, must not, think of him yet you do and even still you stop in your tracks as he approaches with another man at his side. Taller, hair shockingly white atop his head, and eyes the color of the sky. You aren’t particularly interested in his companion, though, instead offering a grin toward Suguru as they saunter your way.
The young Jedi clenches his fist, internally reminding himself to keep his emotions in check just as Master Yaga has instructed him to do more times than he can count. Be at peace, let the Force guide you, control your emotions.
He has never considered himself an incapable decision maker but something about you makes it more difficult for him to be reasonable - a realization he wasn’t expecting to rush to all at once. Attempting a centering breath, he ignores the glance being leveled his way by the man next to him and instead focuses on bowing in front of you.
“Your highness,” he croons and you feel your heartbeat stutter, blood rushing into your ears and making the tips of them warm. “It’s wonderful to see you.”
The man next to him appraises you, bowing slightly at the waist. Rising back to his full size, your eyes widen taking in how he stands head and shoulders above everyone around him but he looks younger than any of you. The curse of a youthful face, you suppose. Unfortunately you can relate, often being cooed at by the senators rather than being treated like the prodigal daughter your father has touted you to be.
“I don’t believe we’ve been introduced,” your voice sounds overly diplomatic and you try to reign it in, clearing your throat. Offering your name, he nods as if it sounds familiar enough.
The white haired man scoffs and looks you up and down.
“Better looking than your dad, that’s for sure. He is your dad, right?”
“Satoru, enou-“
Just as Suguru moves to nudge him with his shoulder, you laugh. It rises above the landing pad and to the sky and stars above, your head tipped back. Taking a breath, you shake your head.
“I’ll keep it to myself that you don’t find him the most handsome man you’ve ever seen. He’d be crushed if he knew otherwise.”
The man bows again, full and formal, and you consider him with each movement. He’s very different from his companion, lighter in a way you can’t quite put your finger on that doesn’t include the palette of his appearance. He feels less burdened by his responsibilities if you had to put a description to the air around the man.
“Satoru Gojo, Jedi Knight at your service.”
Your eyes widen with the news that he’s passed his trials given he appears to be around the same age as yourself and Geto and you sneak a quick peek at the dark haired man to see his braid still intact and resting over his shoulder. He hasn’t completed his trials just yet, something he’s terribly frustrated about even if he tries to hide it, but his Master insists that he needs more time to gain precious dominion over his emotions.
“Lovely to meet you, Satoru.”
Curtsying politely, Satoru stifles a giggle watching the formal gesture but you’re able to seamlessly return to business, your trusted pilot approaching from behind with his helmet tucked beneath his arm and his dark hair mussed across his forehead.
“This is Yu Haibara, I believe you may have met him before.”
The men nod in unison, the three of them having recently been paired up on a mission to escort your father back to Coruscant from Naboo. You grin brightly knowing that they’ve already been acquainted and move to sing Yu’s praises as he joins your side, bowing his head in the direction of the men.
“He is the best pilot in the entire system and we are fortunate to have him on our journey.”
Not for the first time in his life but for the first time since Satoru earned the rank of Knight, Suguru feels jealousy sear through his consciousness listening to you continue to dote on the pilot, describing him as one of your closest friends and someone you trust deeply, insisting he personally deliver you to the planet to check on the progress of the three new starfighters your father was expecting be completed several weeks ago.
He has already met and previously appraised the young man, knowing immediately he’s trustworthy and kind, but seeing him standing that close to you with his praises being sung for all to hear? It strikes him differently, his face impassive despite the way he struggles to win his internal struggle over his emotions yet again.
Maybe the problem is just her, he thinks but curses himself for even allowing the path to that sort of thinking to exist. Something about you makes him feel uneasy, as if you have answers to questions he’s forbidden to even ask, and he clenches his jaw and forces a smile as Satoru nudges him back to reality.
“Well, this won’t be tough for us, right?” He nods in Suguru’s direction and you nod, wordlessly confirming that you know they are more than capable of keeping you safe on your travels. “I’m sure it’ll be a nice break from reading to orphans or whatever you usually do, Princess.”
He nods at the white haired man’s words but notices the way you seem to have bristled at them, shifting uncomfortably where you stand in your less than casual gown. The trappings of your life have always made you feel confined, uncomfortable. It’s so formal and you’re required to meet every standard with a subdued smile and an understanding nod, playing the game as expertly as anyone who has come before you.
It’s not like you asked for your naturally inquisitive nature to be dumbed down enough that you are truly delegated to reading to orphans and listening to the increasingly concerning situation with the Trade Federation from the outside. It’s why you’re occasionally thrown bones like the mission you’re currently on.
“It will be a nice change of pace, yes.”
Your smile is tight and it doesn’t reach your eyes, Suguru noticing immediately the sparkling in your eyes he so easily noticed himself a year ago is missing. He makes a note to scold Satoru for his disrespect later but for now, the group of you begin walking across the landing pad, discussing the business at hand.
Your skirts swish as you walk and Suguru hurries to your right side, Satoru raising his brows watching him scurry. If he has a thing for you, he’s doing a terrible job of hiding it and it makes the knight suck his teeth and look away toward the scenery on either side of the pad. It’s Corellia, industrial and nothing he hasn’t seen before, but distracts himself until you speak and draw his attention back.
“My father asked the two of you to escort me but please do not feel responsible for me,” you start with a smile, patting the blaster you have hidden beneath a wrap that covers your upper arms and shoulders. “I can always handle myself if necessary.”
Satoru chuckles and his dark haired companion tuts, hooking his thumbs in his belt as he walks. You notice the quirk but keep it to yourself, eyes flashing from his hands to his face to watch him shake his head.
“Well, you are our responsibility, Princess,” Suguru teases with a raised brow and you feel your cheeks warm. “And we’ll do our best to ensure you do not have to use that.”
You frown, an argument forming across your tongue until Suguru’s deep colored gaze meets your own and you watch his mouth move.
“Besides, you getting hurt would only seal that we’d never be asked to escort you again.”
Mouth agape, you nod dumbly knowing that he’s correct despite how you’d cry and beg to let the two Jedi escort you. It’s better safe than sorry and you settle down, closing your mouth and smiling instead. Satoru arches a brow as he looks between the two of you and shakes his head.
It’s out of his control but it certainly doesn’t look good for the two of you to be this…casual. On your second meeting, nonetheless. It concerns him but he says nothing, instead keeping his arms at his sides while Yu sidles up to him and tries to make small talk. The two men converse and you keep your focus pointed elsewhere, nodding toward the emissary approaching you from the direction you’re walking in.
“My lady, thank you for joining us.”
You vaguely remember this woman from another trip you made with your father several years ago. Brigid, if you remember correctly, a Corellian human who looked a little less frazzled on your first visit.
“I apologize for the delay, as you know there have been some issues with getting supplies thanks to these ridiculous embargoes but I assure you w-” she stops herself as you raise a hand politely and her eyes flit between the two Jedi at your side. She knows your father is overprotective but a Knight and padawan learner seem like overkill for a visit to a relatively safe planet. Money is money, though, so she keeps her lips closed and smiles tersely.
“There is nothing to apologize for, I was only sent here to keep from driving the old man crazy by asking when I can go off planet next.”
So he didn’t tell you, Suguru thinks as you make small talk with the woman, discussing things such as the recent embargoes and how badly you want to begin your campaign for queen despite the protests that you aren’t yet prepared for the responsibility.
Your father sent the Jedi with you because he believed you may be in danger coming here alone, something you’d shriek at if he told you to his face, but he showed Satoru and Suguru both compelling evidence that this particular manufacturer has been putting orders for the Trade Federation above all others despite their nefarious purposes.
They were too agreeable to let a young woman come and check things out. You’re capable of holding your own in many ways - wit, intelligence, even physically to an extent - but there’s no telling the things they’d do if they were to get their hands on you.
This is where the escorts come in and they stand proudly on either side, jaws slackened listening to the overly sweet words of Brigid as she escorts you inside through the landing bay. Suguru watches as you nod intently, eyes darting around the room to see the newest and most state of the art ships that money can possibly buy.
It’s overwhelming for you, he assumes after noticing how your steps slow and you hang back slightly to keep him at your side. His presence comforts you and it’s hard to describe why, a familiar warmth emanating from him and into you each time you’re around him. It’s how you managed to fall asleep around him the first time, it’s how you keep your shoulders straight and your head on a swivel as the woman rushes to explain the entire manufacturing process to you.
“I can assure you that your ships will be completed by the time that you leave us, Princess, but in the meantime don’t hesitate to enjoy Corellian hospitality. Your accommodations should be more than suitable and we have a shuttle prepared to take you to them if necessary,” she smiles tightly again looking between yourself and the three men flanking you.
Suguru begins to speak up but you stop him, smiling and extending your hand toward Brigid who takes it and shakes it lightly, as if she’s afraid to hurt you with the strength of your grip versus her own. You take the offense and internalize it, just as you always have, and smile to keep your insipid mouth from saying anything that could potentially get you in trouble upon your return home.
“It won’t be necessary, the four of us can make our way, right?”
Suguru hums, appreciating your confidence but suddenly feeling fearful that you are leaving yourself too open to anyone who would potentially mean to harm you. It’s naivety, he thinks, rather than anything else and he feels his fist clench while recalling the fact that you don’t even know you’re potentially in danger.
Be calm, he hears the voice of his Master in his head echoing. Have patience.
His nails no longer dig into his palm after he takes a deep breath and he begins walking once again as the group of you are dismissed, instructed where to find the exit that will lead you out onto the streets and into the thick of Coronet City.
“Maybe we can go to Treasure Sh-”
You’re instantly cut off with a resounding no from both of the Jedi, Satoru shaking his head.
“No, absolutely not. You have no business down there and we aren’t walking you into a place where you’ll stick out the way that you do.”
Frowning, you look at Satoru before shifting your gaze to Suguru who shrugs and shakes his head.
“He’s right. The only thing you’ll find down there you can’t find at home is trouble, I assure you.”
A sigh escapes and your shoulders slump, enthusiasm leaching out of you upon realizing this is part of your responsibilities. This is a diplomatic trip and you can’t indulge your every whim, nor should you expect the men kindly escorting you to do so.
Being a Princess is being trapped in a cage but it’s also being hand fed anything you want through the bars, something you’re going to have to eventually understand isn’t sustainable for the rest of your life, especially given your ambitions. A Queen has far more responsibilities than you do now and you have to act like you’re ready in order to ever get a chance.
Your shoulders square again and you take a deep breath of the warm air of the city as you step onto the sidewalk, looking around at the skyscrapers overhead. Suguru silently watches as you look over each building and its glistening windows, coming up with a better plan to allow you to see even the slightest bit of this beautiful planet.
“I’m sure you’re aware but Corellia is known for their beautiful parks,” he starts and Satoru sighs, slumping in annoyance. He doesn’t want to parade a princess around a park, he doesn’t want to sit here and listen to this pilot babble about the time he swears he saw three suns on Tatooine, he doesn’t want to watch his friend act like an idiot because a pretty girl is next to him.
Suguru raises a brow at the Knight’s petulance and clears his throat, a warning, but his attention stays fixed on you otherwise.
“Let’s find our accommodations and if you’d still like to go after settling in, I will escort you.”
You grin and it eclipses any sunrise, sunset, birth of a star he has ever seen. His breath catches in his throat and he hears those same fateful words in his Master’s voice in his mind but he is able to silence them temporarily with the sound of the excitement in your voice.
“I would love that.” The words are soft but strong and he nods, bowing his head to hide his own smile.
“Now that this has been settled, can we go?”
You aren’t sure what has upset the taller, lighter Jedi so much but you nod and sweep your hand forward, indicating he’s welcome to begin walking whenever he’s ready. It’s not like he made a stellar first impression but he seems to find something about this entire situation quite distasteful and you can’t help but assume it’s because of you. Straightening your back, you try to shrug off the disappointment of assuming you’re disliked but Satoru stares directly at you before shifting back to his friend.
Something is there, even he can see it, and he sighs. As the highest ranking Jedi on the mission, he knows he should step in and prevent Suguru from making choices that could potentially lead him down treacherous paths but he knows how well that has worked out in the past so he keeps his mouth shut and lets the internal sense of dread run wild as he wonders what the rest of this trip will have cut out for each of you.

I know this probably isn't gonna be seen by many people, but I'm almost 100% through LEGO Skywalker Saga so
I prefer Prequels era Star Wars, but Originals and post-Endor are also fun. Gameplay doesn't really matter to me and all of these listed have campaigns.

Wookiee Jedi: A History
Wookiees. Jedi. Wookiee Jedi. How could you not love them? I’ve decided to compile a hopefully exhaustive little list of all Wookiee Jedi in Star Wars, canon or not. They are ordered chronologically by their introduction and sorted by decade.
The 90s or: Lowbacca, a category of his own
The first Wookiee Jedi in Star Wars was Lowbacca, nicknamed Lowie, introduced in 1995. He was Chewbacca’s nephew and one of the principal characters in the Young Jedi Knights book series, where he trained as one of the students at Luke’s Jedi academy alongside Han and Leia’s kids. He remained a quite frequent side character in later books, especially the New Jedi Order series.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lowbacca was literally and figuratively exiled in the Dark Nest trilogy (2005) after Lucas banned Wookiee Jedi (we’ll get to that). He did appear in books since then until the cancellation of the now-Legends timeline, although less frequently than before. His appearances in late-stage Legends content are usually related to Wookiees and Kashyyyk specifically, rather than as just another Jedi knight, and mostly reserved for Troy Denning’s novels. Important fact to know about Lowie: I love him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The 2000s and The Ban
The early 2000s saw the introduction of several Wookiee Jedi, although always as very minor characters. The first one we need to discuss for completeness’ sake is, no joke, Unidentified Wookiee Jedi. We know next to nothing about them: they appear briefly in the background of a 2000 book as a student of the new Jedi Order. This is contemporary with Lowbacca’s time but due to other storylines we can rule out that this Jedi is him. I suppose you can decide for yourself whether this is a simple continuity error, or a random background character used to characterize the setting of Luke’s Order as a harmonious multispecies organization (while utilizing a well-known Star Wars alien species).
For more senior – and named – Jedi we have Master Tyvokka, member of the Council, introduced in 2001. He appears in the flashbacks of a single issue of the Republic comic line by John Ostrander, though he is mentioned in several following issues. He is technically canon despite only appearing in the old continuity due to a mention in reference to Plo Koon, who was his student in both continuities. I think he’s cool for the simple fact that he used a yellow lightsaber. We know Lucas was familiar with the Republic comics (he famously incorporated Aayla into the prequels) but it isn’t entirely clear how much of them he read.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next we have RPG Wookiees. Master Kirlocca was a prequel-era Jedi in the campaign Living Force, which started in 2001 and concluded in 2007. He has appeared in many installments and supplementary materials of the campaign but never outside it. Living Force also “introduced” Wookiee Jedi Knight Vorlocca as a corpse players find in one of its adventures. Whatever, he counts. (the RPG also introduced Force-sensitive non-Jedi Wookiees named Kuce and Furellas, who is notable for being a lady.)
Tumblr media
At some point in the early 2000s Lucas banned the introduction of more Force-sensitive Wookiees. Apart from Lowie this affected Hanharr, a member of your party and playable character in KOTOR II. The devs were supposedly not allowed to include the option of making him a Dark Jedi for this reason. When working on ROTS, concept artist Derek Thompson "wanted to try at least one Wookiee Jedi on the off chance that George would go for it. He didn't go for it."
Tumblr media
The 2010s or: maybe we can get Wookiee Jedi again?
Quite possibly the most widely known on this list is Gungi, the first Wookiee Jedi we’ve seen on screen. He made his first appearance in a 2012 episode of The Clone Wars’ fifth season as one of the Jedi younglings gathering crystals for their lightsabers, in an arc that was at one point considered for its own spinoff. He has since also appeared in The Bad Batch season 2. His nature as a Wookiee Jedi is specifically referred to as rare by Huyang and since Lucas was still involved in making the show at that time we can assume he either went back on his distaste for furry Jedi by then, or wanted Gungi to be all the more unique.
Tumblr media
Also in 2012 – suggesting Gungi’s introduction might have loosened the ban – we have another comic Jedi, Ruhr. More accurately, he was a Je’daii, a predecessor organization to the Order we know. He was part of the Dawn of the Jedi series, also by Ostrander for Dark Horse. That series ended 15 issues in because the comic rights were transferred to Marvel after the Disney sale, so no more Ruhr.
Tumblr media
We also absolutely have to mention Kitmum. She (!) is not canon and never was – unlike the other books and comics discussed here her 2013 book was explicitly non-canonical even before the impending canon reboot of 2014. We love her for her outfit, teaching children how to exercise, and being the only girl Jedi on this list.
Tumblr media
The 2020s and the High Republic, golden age for Wookiee Jedi fans
Star Wars publishing over the last several years was largely focused on the High Republic initiative, which is so far a great time for Jedi Wookiees (or, more accurately, for their fans – the Jedi are not doing so good), with more to come soon in The Acolyte, set in the same era.
The first and most prominent is Burryaga Agaburry, one of the principal characters in the adult novel trilogy in Phase I, introduced in Light of the Jedi (2021). He is both a POV character in his own right and the best friend of the main teenage Jedi in the adult novels, Bell Zettifar. Apart from the novels he appears in the audio drama Tempest Runner and is often mentioned or shown in the background of many other High Republic projects. He is also one of the characters most often depicted in children’s media of the era, probably due to his adorable cuddly appearance. His fate in the wake of Phase I’s ending was a major cliffhanger leading into Phase III, leaving the readers hanging for over a year and a half. You love Burry.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The other major Wookiee Jedi in the High Republic multimedia project is Arkoff, technically first introduced in the same book as Burry due to a single mention of his name in a list of notable Jedi. He is the teacher of Lily, herself the protagonist of the Edge of Balance manga, and appears more notably in the manga’s prequel volume set 150 years earlier during Phase II. Ah, the advantages of Wookiee life expectancy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2023 saw the introduction of Krrsish, an initiate in the flashback sections of the Yoda comic. He has a hard time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The first Wookiee Jedi in live action is set to be Kelnacca in The Acolyte. He is played by Joonas Suotamo, the actor who took over the role of Chewie for Solo and TROS. He’s also getting a comic one-shot by Cavan Scott later this year!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I can't wait to meet him.
