Unseen by Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon, it was Almec who glared up at Satine and challenged her with a crass response as he said casually, “You will lose too, Your Grace. You will more than likely be murdered. Your enemies will take great pleasure in seeing to it that you face a similar fate to your father and your mother. Don’t you think that you would be better off trying to keep us on your good side, rather than summoning us to some backwater planet with the purpose of intimidating us?”

Davu and Jerec both cringed in their seats and looked aside at their contemporary with looks of disgust. The two clansmen were silent but their eyes were narrowed in on Almec, as though they were trying to make their minds up about him.

Satine continued with her blithe smile as she darted her eyes around the room playfully and responded, “Are my enemies here in the room with me?”

Almec was stunned by the way she did not respond with anger as he’d hoped. Instead, he was bewildered, taken aback, and his habit of being overly confident was making a fool out of him.

“Oh, Almec,” Satine continued as she waved her hand in his direction, as though she was delighted by his antics, “Did you not get any sleep last night? You’re rather cranky today.” Turning to look at the others who sat around the table with their eyes glued on her, she smiled, “Our cranky burc’ya here makes a very valid point, though. If you lose, clearly, I will also lose.”

Throwing up her hands as she shrugged her shoulders, Satine’s lips were set in a tightly lined smile as she looked at them and remarked, “In the wake of my own death, what will I care? I won’t have to contend with the backlash. I won’t have to clean up the mess. You seem to forget that in death, I no longer have to worry about any of this. 

“But while my name will be tarnished and probably spit upon for decades thereafter,” Satine rolled her eyes and smirked as she continued to talk, “yours will be the names that are called before Senate hearings to explain away the violence. Yours will be the names on the lips of everyone in Coruscant when they are asked who was responsible for letting a young girl with no combat experience, mind you,” Satine held up a finger and pointed around the room at all of her advisors, “go out into the galaxy and believe she could lead a homeworld of warriors to peace. Your reputations will be tarnished. Your political connections diminished. Your clans?” Satine brought her hands together before her and sighed. “If you’re lucky to outlive the rest of your brethren, you will certainly feel the anguish of their pointless losses forever haunting you.”

Then, the Duchess of Kalevala stood with all of her weight on one hip as she crossed her arms over her chest and looked sternly at her advisors as she chortled, “So, it sounds as if you have more at stake here than I do, gentlemen. Maybe you should take a few moments and confer with one another and decide, once and for all, if you intend to be a true ally to the New Mandalorian movement, and more importantly, to me.” 

In a swift flash of movement, Almec jumped up from his chair and exclaimed loudly, “This is outrageous, Satine! I will not stand for this!”

Calmly, Satine shrugged at him and remarked, “Then sit back down.”

Obitine Week 2023 - Day 6

Ahsoka First Half Postmortem

Spoilers for Ahsoka episodes 1-4 and Rebels Season 2 below.

Shin vs Sabine Round 2: Going into this fight I was a little nervous that we would be saying goodbye to Shin but thankfully that was not the case. Female dark side force users (with the exception of maybe Reva) have had rather unfulfilling conclusions to their arcs in canon so far in my opinion anyway.

Ahsoka vs Marrok Round 2: These poor Inquisitors never seem to learn that spin to win is a death sentence 😔. It is interesting to think about the fact Marrok was either enhanced by Nightsister Magick or had fell in battle before and was resurrected with it.

Baylan Skoll's Arc: I went into Ahsoka thinking that Baylan was going to be the canon equivalent of Jerec (Same with Shin being our Sariss equivalent) from the Original EU. However, I dare say what we are getting is even better then that and I do find my self invested in what will happen to him in these next four episodes.

Ahsoka's Arc: A fair bit of Ahsoka's arc so far I feel has been seeding the idea that the revelation that Vader is Anakin still weighs heavily on Ahsoka and may even be influencing her actions to a certain extent. So, having a talk with Anakin could very well be therapeutic for her in the long run.

The Fate of Clan Wren: This was the one thing about episode four I'm the most torn on. So, on one hand I'm pretty distraught that we know from Baylan prying through Sabine's mind that her folks died in the Purge. On the other it makes sense that it would take a bit more then the promise of finding Ezra to sway Sabine into forging an uneasy alliance with Baylan.

Hera and the New Republic: So, I think it's pretty safe to assume that the NR is going to be majorly peeved that Hera went on a unsanctioned assignment as well as lost sixty percent of the X-Wings she brought with her.
