Upon occasion a body must be exhumed or done so by accident. Some exhumations can reveal unusual finds and many famous people who were exhumed are documented by curious witnesses. There is quite a list of famous people who were exhumed for one reason or another. Some of them include:
Daniel Boone – He was buried in Missouri but when moved to Kentucky, they thought they might have the wrong body.
John Wilkes Booth – His body was warehoused until his family finally put him to rest in their area.
Al Capone – His body was moved.
Karen Carpenter – In Karen’s case, they wanted to move her to a new location.
Christopher Columbus – His body had been moved around and so there was some question about whether the remains were his or possibly mixed with another person.
Marie Curie – Her body was exhumed and moved to be put in a place of honor.
Sammy Davis Jr. – Sammy died almost bankrupt so his wife actually had him exhumed to get the 70,000 dollars worth of jewelry he was buried with.
Adolf Hitler – In 1970, remains believed to be his were turned over for cremation.
Benny Hill – Sadly, this beloved comedian was the victim of grave robbery.
Abraham Lincoln – Several people thought to try and steal his body. Eventually, they encased him in concrete.
Lee Harvey Oswald – With the permission of Oswald’s widow, Eddowes had the body exhumed in 1981 and dental records confirmed the man was not a Russian body double, but Oswald himself.
Elvis Presley – Buried in Memphis, he was moved because someone tried to steal his body. He was placed at Graceland
Jesse James – The infamous Wild West outlaw may have died in 1882, but his legend lived on as did persistent rumors that James faked his own death. In 1995, the James family requested the exhumation of their ancestor’s corpse from a Kearney, Missouri cemetery and DNA tests confirmed the remains were indeed those of the outlaw.
Eva Peron – Evita’s body was exhumed and moved to Madrid, where her husband lived in exile. Finally in 1974, her remains were returned to Buenos Aires and buried in a fortified crypt in La Recoleta Cemetery.
Abraham Lincoln – In 1876 a gang of Chicago counterfeiters hatched a scheme to snatch the slain president’s body from his tomb in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield, Illinois, and hold the corpse for a ransom of $200,000 and the release of their best engraver from prison. After law enforcement officials thwarted the grave robbers in the middle of the crime, Lincoln’s body was quickly moved to various unmarked graves until it was eventually encased in a steel cage and entombed under 10 feet of concrete in the same Springfield cemetery in 1901.
Zachary Taylor – In 1991, Taylor became the first president to have his remains exhumed, and tests conclusively showed that he was not assassinated by poison.
Oliver Cromwell – King Charles II exhumed Cromwell’s body on the twelfth anniversary of his father’s execution and in retribution for the regicide staged an execution of his own.
Simon Bolivar – Twelve years after his death, Bolivar’s remains were exhumed from Santa Marta’s cathedral and transferred to Caracas, Venezuela. The testing by forensic specialists proved inconclusive as to the cause of Bolivar’s death.

Third Level Society: First Version
Story Ten: Rose Anne Mahathy
It's been a frustratingly long wait but Paul finally got back to me.
While I was waiting, Jeo was gracious enough to field some more research on Tom Kearney.
Tom was born in the 1240s, raised with parents who stubbornly voted for the old Foundationist Party. He was taught from a young age that darkfire was morally corrupt and that those with the apparent Darkfire Conjuration Syndrome were dangerous at best, nefarious at worst. He was a big believer of the anti-darkfire propagandist, Reonard Chaney, but, following the Ceri Mains incident in 1281, had a revelation on how biased and inaccurate Chaney was. And it seemed as if he was on the same path as the late Daniel Orville Carter to learn of the true nature of darkfire.
However, unlike Carter, Kearney maintained the belief that darkfire conjurers could not take part in mainstream society, pushing further on the notion that anyone who believed otherwise was either swayed by darkfire or a part of the "class of the morally corrupt" altogether. In any case, he believed, and believes to this day, that anyone supporting "darkfire integration" should be prevented from holding any political power.
I remember how there used to be a conservative Foundationist Party running in elections against a liberal National Labor Party. That was before the Diplomatic Party came around and kept winning elections so much that the other two parties closed their doors. Then came everyone else who banded together and established the Reformed Foundationist Party.
I also remember how divided the Reformed Foundationist Party was, having both former-Foundationists, who catered to the interest of small and mid-sized businesses, and former-Laborists, who catered to worker rights. Kearney favored the Foundationist side of things here because of their socially conservative views, especially when it came to their confident stance against darkfire integration, sadly enough.
Where things get interesting is when, after the Reformed Foundationist Party folded in the 1290s, Kearney supported the emerging Progressive Party. Not only did he vote for John Waltmann, he actually openly boasted about it and even called on other people to vote for this party.
And that shows the faults in the Early Republic, people's flawed perceptions on the political spectrum. The Progressive Party, back then, was seen as a radically liberal party, even compared to the now-defunct National Labor Party. Sure, they believed in nationalized healthcare, a nationalized road system, a nationalized education system. But the Progressive Party absolutely refused to listen to the concept of darkfire integration. There were some commonsense folk in the Party who called for it. But Waltmann and the Party majority would not hear of it, and maintained the very same conservative-nationalist stance on keeping the Mount Carris Perimeter Wall standing with the Finzi Community hemmed in and separate from the rest of society.
That, of course, was a compromise that appealed to Tom Kearney.
Now enter Sophia Qalmers. During the days of Waltmann, Sophia attained a job initially as an editor at the Three Points, where Tom Kearney was working. Tom, I believe, was feeling a bit vulnerable in the face of growing sentiment for darkfire legalization, and felt that perhaps he could use his age and experience to influence younger generations like that of Sophia to align better their ways of thinking to his. He moved to intimidate Sophia to make her feel he was the mentor while she was the student. But then Sophia did amazing work at Cabotton University and was promoted to the Field Journalist position, the same kind of role as that of Tom Kearney.
Kearney appeared to relent by offering to join as a co-writer for Sophia's column. But then he pulled his ulterior motives. And as it turned out, when that failed, though he did not get fired, he retaliated against her after he voluntarily quit. That's where the film thing came in. And when the fallout with that and the lawsuit happened. Tom Kearney left the scene.
That was where I initially lost track of him, but Jeo gathered more information.
Apparently, Kearney moved to the Great North as a freelance writer. A few years later, Walter Scott Mason, in the midst of his bloody Prime Minister election campaign, called on Kearney to move to North Kempton and join the Knights of the Common Good as a propaganda writer. It turned out that Mason had seen Kearney's film on Cabotton University and was very interested.
Kearney joined the Knights of the Common Good for that propaganda writer role, which paid a hefty salary. As part of the KCG curriculum, Kearney also learned spellcasting and gained his spellcaster license. He was also tasked to learn the art of disguise and take part in their "Intervention Program," which was more like an "Infiltration Program," in order to undermine certain organizations allied to the Finzi Coalition.
That was where he came from when trying to infiltrate the Third Level Society through Paul Mirkwynn and Tyler Benjamin.
When that failed, when Kearney escaped citizens' arrest, he returned to the KCG in North Kempton. This time, he was assigned as a Squad Leader of one of their Task Force units, the strongmen responsible for all the violence against the Darkfire Community. What he engaged in, personally, is unclear. But after Mason's death, Kearney relocated to the Province of Gymia, where he was promoted to one of the Generals of the Armed Forces of the Reformed Federal Estates during the 1311-12 War.
It was after the war where we lose his trail.
So now, Paul got back to me. He says that he is busy but will be willing to meet with me two weeks from now.
At least the weather is forecasted to be warm up in the far North of Cales.

N.S. approves wind farm, but federal officials worry project would kill at-risk birds
A 13-turbine wind farm recently approved by the Nova Scotia government is worrying federal officials, who say there isn't enough information about what impact the project will have on the endangered roseate tern and other birds.
Nova Scotia's Environment Department approved the Wedgeport Wind Farm, on the province's southwest coast, on May 4. Also on that day, an environment assessment by Environment Canada and the Canadian Wildlife Service became public.
The federal agencies note in their report that 75 per cent of the breeding of the roseate tern population in Canada occurs about 15 kilometres from the proposed wind farm. They say the endangered animals "may be vulnerable" to the turbines as they fly across the project area at Little River Harbour, N.S., seeking food.
The seabirds have a distinctive appearance, with black caps, bills that are red at their base and a forked tail. The Canadian Wildlife Service has reported that their numbers have plunged to the point where the species is considered at risk.
Federal officials also report concerns about other birds, noting that the area's headland -- a narrow piece of land that juts out into the water -- is home to "known important bird habitats" and is used for resting, refuelling and overwintering. They say shorebirds and ducks move over the area at an altitude that puts them at risk of collision with the turbines, especially at dusk and dawn.
The federal experts say there's insufficient information to assess the project's impacts on birds, and they call for the creation of maps detailing the flight paths of the various species, which would reveal whether they are at risk of collisions with turbines.
John Kearney, an environmental researcher who has used acoustic methods to chart the high densities of bird calls in the Little River Harbour area, says he was disappointed the Progressive Conservative government approved the wind project.
He said in an interview on Monday he remains concerned about the birds dying from exhaustion in an effort to stay away from the huge windmills -- or by blunt force trauma if they fly into them.
"Environment Canada is stating, 'There are migratory birds' and 'You need to map them,"' he said. "And once they do that, they will have to show they are taking measures to prevent damage and death as (the birds) pass through the corridor."
Daniel Eaton with Vancouver-based Elementary Energy -- the company developing the wind project -- wouldn't comment on the specific observations from the federal agencies in the environment assessment his firm commissioned.
In an email, he said the province has laid out conditions for the project, including that studies be produced on the types of birds that live in the area, which he said would inform future conservation measures. The province has also required the company to produce a two-year study on bird and bat mortality caused by the turbines.
"We anticipated receiving approval conditions for the Wedgeport Wind Farm Project environment assessment, which are generally consistent with other wind farm approvals in Nova Scotia and across Canada," he wrote.
The company has previously stated that by 2025 -- the potential first year of operation -- the project is anticipated to offset 112,750 tonnes of carbon emissions, roughly equivalent to the yearly output of 25,000 gasoline-powered cars.
The company's field survey identified 100 bird species within and outside the project area, and about 16,000 individual birds. Elementary Energy also predicted that the project would lead to about 36 bird deaths a year, citing a model developed in 2016 from Scottish Natural Heritage, an environmental advisory body.
However, Kearney and the Nova Scotia Bird Society have been critical of that model. Kearney and the society have said his acoustic data gives strong, comparative evidence that the proposed farm is in the middle of a migration corridor.
The federal department declined to provide one of the experts for an interview, or further comment.
This report by The Canadian Press was first published May 10, 2023.

Kit Carson, my relative
Christopher Houston Carson was born in Madison County Kentucky near Richmond December 24, 1809.   He died in Colorado May 23, 1868 - what happened in those 58 years?   Kit is usually an abbreviation of the given names Christopher, Katherine and Kathleen.
His father, a Revolutionary War veteran, moved the family to the Bluegrass State from North Carolina. After a two-year stay in the commonwealth, they again continued westward to Boone's Lick, Howard County, Missouri, when Kit was about one year old . (Boone’s Lick to Kansas City is about 2 hours nowadays)
Cornelia was getting married to Dan Weinberg, about the time Kit was born, but they did have family get togethers before he turned 15, about 1814.
Carson came from an impoverished family. After the death of his father, Carson apprenticed to become a saddler. Carson detested the work.   At 15 Carson ran away from his home in Missouri to join a caravan of traders bound for Santa Fe.   From experienced frontiersmen he learned fur trapping and trading, a career he pursued for 15 years.
Tumblr media
New Mexico in 1826, he settled and married Singing Grass, a member of the Arapaho Tribe. Carson hunted and trapped in the West for the next decade. Upon the death of Singing Grass, Carson traveled to Missouri to place his daughter Adaline in the care of his family.
While travelling back from Missouri, Carson happened to meet with John C. Frémont.  In 1842, Carson served as a guide for Frémont as he explored the Oregon Trail.  In 1843 and 1845 he helped guide Frémont’s next two expeditions.
On his third Western expedition in 1845-46 military explorer  John C. Frémont and legendary scout Kit Carson led a raid on Klamath Lake Indian village in retaliation for a night ambush that had killed three expedition members.
Frémont ‘s memoirs say 10 raiders including 4 Delaware Indians attacked the village on May 10, 1846 killing 14 Indians and burning village huts and wooden scaffolds laden with drying fish.  Historians say possibly more were killed.
Later that day,  Frémont saved Kit’s life.
Frémont wrote, “ … we came suddenly upon an Indian scout. He was drawing his arrow to its head … and Carson attempted to fire, but his rifle snapped, and as he swerved away the Indian was about to let his arrow go into him; I fired, … failed to kill the Indian, but [my horse] Sacramento … was not afraid of anything and I jumped him directly upon the Indian and threw him to the ground. His arrow went wild.” A Delaware clubbed him to death.
At day’s end  Frémont wrote, “I had now kept the promise I made to myself and had punished these people well for their treachery.”
Carson was perhaps the most famous trapper and guide in the West. He traveled with the expeditions of John C. Fremont in the 1840s, leading Fremont through the Great Basin. Fremont’s flattering portrayal of Carson made the mountain man a hero when the reports were published and widely read in the east. Later, Carson guided Stephen Watts Kearney to New Mexico during the Mexican-American War. In the 1850s he became the Indian agent for New Mexico, a position he left in 1861 to accept a commission as lieutenant colonel in the 1st New Mexico Volunteers.
He served under Major General James Henry Carleton in his campaign to subdue the Mescalero Apache.   Carson also led forces during the Indian Wars, suppressing the Navajo, Mescalero Apache, Kiowa and Comanche tribes by destroying their food sources.
Later, he was brevetted a Brigadier General and took command of Fort Garland, Colorado, until declining health forced him to retire from military Life.
Tumblr media
After his death in 1868 from an aortic aneurysm, during the late 19th century, Kit Carson became a legendary symbol of America’s frontier experience.  Who were the Kit Carson wives? They include Arapaho woman Waa-Nibe, who died three years after their marriage; Cheyenne woman Making Out Road, who divorced Carson after 14 months; and Josefa Jaramillo, the fourteen year old daughter of a prominent Taos family and mother of Carson's seven children.
The Carson family, our relatives come from Scot Irish descent.
In the 17th century the British leaders decided to settle Protestants in the Northern Ireland province of Ulster. They chose to use the Presbyterians of Lowland Scotland. This migration started about 1605.   Scot-Irish are those  moved on to other lands in the 1700s when they would not succumb to the "Anglican ascendancy" or mix with "papish Catholics" in Ireland.
More than 250,000 of these Scot-Irish emigrated to the American colonies between 1717 and the American Revolutionary War. These Presbyterian "Scot-Irish" were the majority of settlers who first moved over the Appalachians. Men such as Daniel Boone and Kit Carson. And they kept moving. To Kentucky. To Tennessee. To Missouri. And, eventually into Texas.
Returning to Ireland was never a thought.  The Catholic and Protestant tension was just too deadly.

New British comedy TV series from 2020: BBC, Channel 4, Sky, Dave, Amazon, Netflix
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
2020 in British TV comedy brought us Maisie Williams as a kickass survivalist in a pickle, and a new parenting comedy from the hugely talented Simon Blackwell and Chris Addison starring Martin Freeman.
To add to that, there was also a fresh batch of comedians playing exaggerated versions of themselves in self-penned sitcoms, including Katherine Ryan, Mae Martin, Sara Pascoe, Kayleigh Llewellyn, Lucy Beaumont and Jon Richardson.
Here’s the skinny on all those new shows and more. Here’s what arrived in 2019, and here are the new British TV dramas that arrived in 2020.
Breeders
After their excellent 2014 relationship comedy Trying Again, Chris Addison and Simon Blackwell (Veep, The Thick Of It) teamed up on a new series, this time about the trials of parenthood. Martin Freeman and Daisy Haggard played parents in this ten-part half-hour comedy, a co-production between Sky in the UK and FX in the US. Watch the first trailer here.
Bumps
Available to stream on BBC iPlayer
A Comedy Playhouse commission for BBC One, Bumps comes from Psychobitches and Tracey Ullman’s Show writer-actor Lucy Montgomery (pictured) and The Life Of Rock With Brian Pern‘s Rhys Thomas. The half-hour pilot is a modern family comedy that centres on Amanda Redman’s character Anita, a divorcee in her sixties with two grown-up kids, who decides to have a third baby with the help of an egg and sperm donor. Playing Anita’s daughter Joanne is Lisa McGrillis (behind the brilliantly dim and tactless but very sweet Kelly on Mum), who discovers she’s pregnant at the same time as her mother.
Code 404
After 2019’s pilot, Sky ordered six episodes of this sci-fi comedy starring Daniel Mays (Line Of Duty, Vera Drake) and Stephen Graham (Boardwalk Empire, The Virtues), written by Mongrels and Not Going Out’s Daniel Peak. It’s a buddy cop drama set in the near future, which sees crime-fighting duo DI John Major (Mays) and DI Roy Carver (Graham) first separated, then reunited thanks to the wonders of modern science. Series two is on its way.
Feel Good
Stand-up Mae Martin co-wrote her autobiographically inspired six-episode series with Joe Hampson, which formerly went by the working title Mae and George and is now called Feel Good. It aired on E4 in the UK and Netflix around the world, and follows Martin’s life as a comedian and recovering addict, and the complications of her new relationship with girlfriend George. Friends’ Lisa Kudrow guest stars. A second series is on the way.
Hitmen
Comedy double act Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins get in on the Killing Eve game as contract killers in this new Sky series. Unlike Villanelle though, these two are decidedly unsmooth operators. Their hits are, according to the press release, “inevitably derailed by incompetence, bickering, and inane antics.” Sherlock’s Amanda Abbington co-stars, along with Francis Barber and Johnny Vegas. Series two is on the way.
In My Skin
Kayleigh Llewellyn’s autobiographically inspired 2018 pilot is now a four-part comedy series for the BBC. It’s the raw but ultimately uplifting story of teenager Bethan’s attempts to conceal from her schoolfriends a chaotic homelife with a mother sectioned in a mental health facility and a dad in the Hell’s Angels. Here’s a clip from the Comedy Slice to whet your appetite.
Intelligence
Available to stream on Sky and NOW TV
Last year saw Rob Lowe in Lincolnshire, now prepare for David Schwimmer in Cheltenham. The Friends actor and director starring in a six-part Sky One comedy as a “maverick NSA agent” working in the UK’s Government Communications Headquarters. He’s joined by series writer Nick Mohammed, in the role of an inept computer analyst tasked with tackling cyber-crime. Series two is on the way.
Kate And Koji
