Animal Control (prods. Tad Quill & Dan Sterling).
Fox’s familiar workplace sitcom starring Joel McHale offers both fun twists and very familiar setups to its ensemble comedy series. A talented cast of comic actors mixed with different animal-related hijinks has enough playful humour about the usual topics of office romance, coworker rivalries, and general interpersonal relationships. There are some fun elements of public servants doing their jobs in addition to tropes of police procedurals with animals instead of crimes.

"Most people aspire to be like Don Drapper. Not me. Don't get me wrong, Don is one cool cat - but for some reason I think Roger has things pretty well figured out. Does he make mistakes? Yes. Plenty. However the consequences don't seem to shake him much."
Bruce Lee said, "Be like water."
I say, "Be like Roger."

Dan Panosian : 8"X10" pencil, ink, copic marker and watercolor.
"Where would the men of Mad Men be without Peggy and Joan ?
Probably three sheets to the wind downing Old Fashions at some cocktail bar. Which is a wonderful place to be. But their businesses would have probably fallen apart. These women are anchors that no sailor would cast into the sea. Well, maybe a few might. But I'm losing focus here. Sorry."

Dan Panosian : "Had a great time at the Wizard show in NOLA and did two commissions. I'll upload better scans later but I took this picture with my iPhone.
Mad Men is probably one of my all time favorite TV shows. Pan Am tried desperately to copy their success but couldn't manage to incorporate the subtle nuances. It's not just about the clothing. It's about the attitude. The quiet moments. Mad Men does everything right. It's about storytelling."
Tumblr media
Dan Panosian : "Don Draper… He lives by his own peculiar code. Sometimes it serves him well and sometimes his whole world comes crashing down around him.
When he married Megan I think he may have bit off more than he can chew. Luckily for him it's a tasty bite."
Tumblr media
Dan Panosian : "Recently I'm been seeing the Mad Men illustrations I've done pop up on some really cool websites -so I thought I would cook up another one ! It's one of my favorite TV shows - I can't get enough of it."
Tumblr media
Dan Panosian : "Cad of Cads... One of my favorite Mad Men characters."
Tumblr media
Dan Panosian : "Three scoundrels posing in a gentlemanly fashion. Sterling, Drapper and Campbell.
8.5"X11" Bristol Board, Ink, Zip-A-Tone"

Since I'm at the midpoint* in my Mad Men rewatch, here's some Mad Men sketchs by the talented comics artist Dan Panosian (2010s).
*The acclaimed "The Suitcase" episode is actually right in the middle of the show's entire 7 seasons run (46th episode out of a total of 92).

Paradise Promises Paid Off by end of Season One
When Paradise first aired, the thing that immediately hooked me was the intriguing plot. There was so much mystery that centered around the overall concept that was about to unfold. Of course, with any original mystery, there came the questions about how it would unfold.
Paradise was great from beginning to end and easily set a very deliberate tone in how they went about navigating the story. They never did too much at once so that each and every plot beat could feel organic in its own way. Every bit of the intrigue and shrouded pay off felt genuine because they devoted enough time to explain it. Often this is not a format that works because it feels too out of left field.
The biggest issue here was finding a way to make it all. It makes sense given the complexities that surround crafting a story of this magnitude. While there are still some lingering questions, the overall concept is executed very well.

A lot of the burden falls onto three people. The obvious one being Sterling K. Brown as well as James Marsden and Julianne Nicholson. Brown is the straight shooting, quiet, and reserved Secret Service Agent. Marsden plays the president and Nicholson an eccentric billionaire with secrets and a past of her own. They together form the core of what this story is based on upon. Marsden carrying the brunt of the flashbacks to fill the gaps. Brown is doing his amazing work to essentially react as the audience would to the secrets. Nicholson always makes us believe there is one more sinister secret left lurking.
One of the best parts about this show is the willingness to let it be a slow burn on the part of Dan Fogelman. He said that from day one, there was a three season plan, and he meant that. Had this show not been renewed, there was going to be an obvious cliffhanger. It shows belief in yourself to be willing to end on a note of this nature. Thankfully, there will be nothing left to the imagination as the show has been renewed for at least one more season as of right now. This show has been a pleasant surprise to start off 2025. There should be a new set of characters awaiting season 2 and as well as the reactions from the aftermath of season 1. Bring on more of this very interesting and refreshing series. A wonderful achievement.

Oh and I love how the show will play an 80s song at the beginning of an episode and then a slower, dramatic cover of the same song at the end of it.
