Being Our Own Teacher - DailyOM
Yes, do also validate any suffering you're having too though. The joy will come, but forcing it or being mad at yourself for not being able to find it right now only makes things worse.

The Perfect Teacher Is What’s Happening Right Now!
The perfect teacher is what’s happening right now!   Just today, as some unexpected news came into my inbox, right at that moment, I felt agitated and annoyed.  What’s happening right now is the perfect teacher? That’s often very hard to accept..let alone be open to learning and changing!
Tumblr media
Those of you on a journey of personal growth have probably heard the saying, “Everything is perfect right now, just as it is.”  And then there is, “Right now is all we have.” Well, that can be pretty hard to stomach at times when what’s happening right now hurts me, or those I care about; when it’s embarrassing or humiliating; when I have judgments about it; and when I wish it were different!
Let’s explore this a bit more deeply. Years ago, a motivational speaker was giving her sermon at a Unity church service. At some point, Edwene said,  “Yes, indeed, everything is perfect right now, AND you need a project.” Well, that was an interesting twist I hadn’t heard, and it opened new doors for me. When I remember to bring this fullness to challenging moments, I actually do have a chance of seeing the Now Moment as the perfect teacher, for overcoming some challenges.
Living fully in the moment gets a lot of good press in spiritual, and even secular circles.  Be Here Now, Ram Dass’s famous book is just one of many illustrious teachers who build on this inspirational quote. Right now is all we have. The past and the future don’t exist. OK, OK. But how do we allow or invite these moments to be our teachers? What the %$#@& does that really mean? That’s the project!
Tumblr media
Here’s an example. One of my stuck places, a very old pattern, is that I often wish things were different: I resist, instead of acknowledging and accepting what is. (It’s really important that accepting does not mean condoning. More on this later.) Something challenging happens, an election outcome, a friend becomes ill, or a flight for a family vacation gets canceled…fill in your own examples. If we resist what is, and wish it were different, the startling truth is that we create suffering for ourselves, we struggle, whine, groan, can even make ourselves sick. The way out is to learn to say Yes, OK, this is what is. And that’s the learning, the lesson, the life transformation. Right in the messy, sticky moment of resistance is the opportunity. The perfect teacher is right now!
Saying Yes Is simply not Easy, but it is possible. If I can say A Resounding Yes to Life, I’m creating a success story. Instead of falling into complaining, feeling like a victim, or worse, If I remember that there are gifts of learning possible in every challenging, scary, or frustrating moment, this shift in attitude helps me get curious, keep an open mind, and look for potential life transformations. The big question is whether I am ready to learn the lesson and be open to what the universe could tell me? A growth mindset helps, that’s for sure!
A DailyOm inspired this for me.  Your Perfect Teacher: “All the situations in our lives, from the insignificant to the major, teach us exactly what we need to be learning.” Is it Patience? Is it flexibility? Acceptance? Is it joy or awe?
What is your perfect teacher teaching you right now? I’d love to hear how this landed with you, and what your current experiences are! We are in this together.

I did my before and after paintings that are part of my counseling. Before is following my trauma and after is when I’ve healed, fully loving and forgiving.
I have so many modalities I’m using for my healing.
CBT, EMDR, Metaphysic classes, journaling through DailyOm, Big Life Journal and a new Shadow Journal. Plus I’ve signed up for a Sun Shen Bubble course.
Problem is, just like with my advocacy work…my full time day job takes up a lot of time for all of this. 😆
But step by step, I’m getting closer to healing and becoming full love and forgiveness.

Reading for Pleasure
Every book has the potential to touch the human soul deeply, arousing patterns of thought that might otherwise have lain dormant. The pleasure we derive from the written word is unique in that we must labor for it. Other forms of art provide us with stimulus and ask nothing more than our emotional response. Reading is an active pastime that requires an investment of emotion as well as our concentration and imagination. The words we read are merely a starting point for a process that takes place largely within our minds and hearts.
There are few activities as comforting, relaxing, and healthy as perusing the pages of a good piece of fiction or nonfiction. Curling up with a book and a cup of tea is one of the simplest ways we can remove ourselves from the confines of reality in order to immerse ourselves in the drama and intrigue of the unfamiliar. However, the pleasure of transcending reality is only one aspect of the reading experience.
Each time we read for enjoyment, whether we prefer the fantastic nature of fiction, the empathy awakened within us by memoir, or the instructive passion of nonfiction, we create entire landscapes in our mind’s eye. The books we choose provide us with the inspiration we need to accomplish such a feat, but it is our own creative reserves that empower us to use our imaginations for this unique and beautiful purpose.
The tales you lose yourself in can lead you on paths of discovery that take you out of your own life and help you see that existence can unfold in an infinite number of ways. You can learn so much from the characters and mentors who guide you from page to page. Your emotions are awakened each time you read, allowing you to become a vessel for the passion that pours forth from line after line of print. Ultimately, the books you absorb – those that touch you deeply – will become a part of who you are, providing you with a rich and thrilling world within that you can revisit anytime you wish by simply closing your eyes. If you haven’t read a book for pleasure lately, try and allow yourself the time – you deserve it.

Daily OM- Lesson 4: Contribution
Have you ever posted a positive image or quote on social media? What made it special to you?                                                                                                           I post about mental health sometimes but mostly I feel like people think its attention seeking so I don't do it often unless something really speaks to me
How do you feel like you contribute to the world through your vocation?             I don't feel like the world would care too much about my contribution to that
Have you ever donated money or time to a cause? What feelings prompted you to do so?                                                                                                           yes I have, empathy I suppose and gratitude
Have you ever performed a random act of kindness?                                               all the time yeah
How do you contribute to your family or friend group on a regular basis?         I do my friends hair for them, check in on them, tell them I love them, just always trying to make my friends feel included in things
