Okay, but I need to talk about Good Omens and The Sound of Music.

First of all, I’m genuinely obsessed with it being explicitly canon that The Sound of Music exists in the GO universe and is, for some reason, God’s favorite movie. Neil says here that Heaven misses the point of the movie/musical, but I find it incredibly fascinating that Aziraphale outwardly despises it. 

Brief summary of The Sound of Music incoming as well as some really interesting parallels:

So we've got Julie Andrews playing Maria, who is studying to become a nun in an abbey in Salzburg. Problem is, she isn't the best nun, and is often late to chapel and just isn't the shining beacon of holiness that the rest of the nuns expect her to be.

In response to this, the Reverend Mother of the abbey decides to send Maria to live with sexy widower Georg von Trapp, a navy captain who desperately needs help with his seven children. The Captain is a bit of a hard-ass since the death of his wife, and has been treating his kids like little soldiers as well as banning music from the house.

The 7 kids are rambunctious and make things difficult for Maria at first. But one night, a thunderstorm scares them, and they run to Maria for comfort. The kids realize that Maria is really fun, and then later, when their dad is off to Vienna, the kids and Maria end up running around Salzburg singing, dancing, climbing trees, and having a blast.

When the Captain comes home and hears about this, he sends Maria away. But then he overhears the children singing a song Maria taught them and he gets all emo and remembers how much music meant to him and his late wife. He asks Maria to stay after hearing the song, telling her she's brought joy back to their house.

And oops, Maria and the Captain are falling for each other, but the Captain is sort of kind of dating this blonde bombshell.

There's a big fuck-off party, and the Captain and Maria dance together.

But, oh, no, Blondie saw them and can clearly tell they're in love. She tells Maria what she's seen and Maria is freaking out cause she's just realized she's in love.

Mentally, my girl Maria is going through a lot. She thinks she’s disappointed God by falling in love when she was supposed to be doing a job. She feels scared by the depth of her feelings and because of all these emotions, she runs away. Back to the Abbey. Back to presumed safety.

Mother Superior figures out what happened real quick and tells Maria that she isn’t wrong for falling in love. She sends her back to the Von Trapps, and it's such a great scene. If you wanna watch, I included a link below.

Maria goes back, and the kids are elated and she and the Captain confess their feelings (and oh my god, don't even get me started on the lyrics to the song they sing to each other while confessing, Something Good).

So that's the Sound of Music. There's a subplot going on with WW2 and the Captain being pressured to join the Nazi regime (which he is very against). King, we love him.

I pointed out some obvious parallels, but I'd also like to pull some random thoughts together here:

Mother Superior (God) is the one that sends Maria (Aziraphale) to help the Von Trapps (humans) in the first place.

Maria (Aziraphale) extends grace and patience with the children (humans) and refuses to give up on them, even going so far as to disobey their father by letting them fuck around and be kids (going against God's wishes and giving humans the flaming sword).

Mother Superior (God) also sends Maria (Aziraphale) back to the Von Trapps after realizing that Maria (Aziraphale) is in love with the Captain (Crowley).

Here's to hoping we see God telling Azi that loving a demon is chill and he should go back to earth in S3.

Overall, it's incredibly amusing to me that Aziraphale, our Aziraphale, doesn't like The Sound of Music, with the main plot being about a woman who choses love over religious obligations and a man who rejects an authoritarian regime so that he might make his own way in the world.

Maybe Aziraphale recognizes the parallels and is in denial. Or maybe he just prefers Sondheim...

Eddie wondered what in hell did Chrissy Cunnigham, his mess shortstack of best friend, see in Steve Harrington of all people. Eddie was sure that if he seeked out "average" in the dictionary, the definition would come alongside Steve's high school portrait. That dude was every cliché of the book, but there was nothing in him that made him stand out. He wasn't the most handsome in the school, wasn't the best in his team, wasn't that charming, (wasn't also the greatest asshole either, thank god), and he was definitely not the smartest. Yet everyone seemed to be starstruck by that guy. Now, his best friend was in his net, too.

The thing is, she was crushing hard, he could tell. Like, whe was not sighing, or running after him, or telling Eddie how cute Steve was all the time, or cutting class to go see him training, but her eyes always spotted him like they were trained to fix on his silhouette. God, Chrissy didn't even tell Eddie that she liked Steve; Eddie just guessed it. Chrissy blushed one when he smiled politely at her, not looking at her longer than necessary, and just like that, Eddie knew.

And it fucking stings.

It stings for so many reasons.

For once, he's seen Chrissy. They've been best friends for years now, and he knew where she came from. He knows what she was taught at home, what she thought love was for so long until they had this heartfelt conversation in which Eddie's heart broke as he told her that love should not hurt.

He's been there for her, you know. He was the one to jump between Chrissy and his dad to avoid a second fucking slap, just because they were hanging out together. He was there, picking her up from a party she wasn't allowed to go just because she wanted to spend time with that little shit Jason that ditched her because he was too drunk that night and couldn't drive her home. He was there holding her hair when the guilt for eating was far too much to handle, and he was there holding her hand when she thought she wasn't strong enough to hold it inside.

He's been there when she had no friends but him all last year and not even talking about crushes or romances of any kind because she was done with it.

He was there now, looking at Chrissy too-good-for-literally-anyone-in-the-world Cunningham while she looked at Steve Harrington across the high school corridors, blushing and longing.

So yes, that situation actually fucking stung.

"Don't look at me like that," she said under her breath.

"I'm sorry, this painful pining is hard to miss," Eddie replied, smirking.

"It will go away," she shut her locker door, "you know always does."

"I just don't get it, tell me again why won't you talk to him?"

Chrissy rolled her eyes.

"Not this again."

"You have got a class together, righ? Go sit next to him in French-"

Chrissy considered, looking at him from below with those impossible huge eyes of the colour of the rain. Eddie suddenly zipped up her jacket and she backed up, laughing and gently shoving him off.

"He doesn't even know that I exist," she said, speaking under the layer of thick fabric of the jacket, fit for Hawkins winters.

Chrissy readjusted her jacket and looked at Steve's direction once more. She stiffened when Steve and his group were crossing the corridor, coming their direction. And Steve had the grace of actually, actually, mutting "hi there" at Chrissy as he passed by, with a killer smile.

Yunmeng Jiang has the strongest trade relations with Meishan Yu out of the four greatest sects for obvious reasons.

The people of Yunmeng 100% have songs about the amazing Sandu Shengshou, which the Jiang disciples would obviously then sing just to piss Jiang Cheng off (they taught them to Jin Ling when he was merging from babbling toddler to chatty 5 year old).

All new disciples (and the older ones if they're acting in a way Jiang Cheng deems irresponsible and hazardous) are required to sit a Water and Boat Saftey Course. There's a written and a practical at the end, obvs. If you fail well then tough shit, you're resitting the course along with the disciples who have been reckless. Chengxuan vs Chengsu is actually really hard. However, Chengsu is more realistic I feel, especially during the time skip and after it. I love childhood best friends AU for Chengxuan and also all that Sunshot Campaign Chengxuan and modern AU's. But Chengsu takes the win; a high profile affair, raising a child who isn't yours with someone who isn't your husband, saltiness and self pity over the people you love choosing a Lan over you. Anyways, if you're getting into the Tolkien fandom I would recommend watching the hobbit films first, even though they're not entirely book accurate it's still a good way to get a feel of the story and work out if it's something you'd like. Then I would read the book. Same process for Lord of the rings. The silmarillion... God i actually can't say anything, you've just gotta re read the first 3-4 chapters a couple of times and then you should be fine...

i know i am supposed to see sailom as the victim but he is like full on pete-ing this. he never breaks eye contact. he is like daring kanghan to escalate with his entire body and kanghan did not just go full "since you're my class mate i will be generous and forgive you if you get down on your knees" like that is a) spicy as fuck what the hell and b) going to backfire so hard

he is puzzled by both sailom's actions and by what is happening inside his uniform shorts

honestly, kanghan is the villain here but i struggle to take him seriously as the bad guy because perth a) always looks like he is about five seconds away from bursting into tears and b) has bangs that form a literal heart. no matter how nasty kanghan tries to be - and he tries a lot - the inherent bitch baby-ness just shines through.

this entire car shop sequence is just pure gold for so many reasons. 1. kanghan shows up in his business leather pants looking like he walked off the set of enhypen's blessed-cursed music video and he's driving a mercedes. like honestly, with all that talk i was expecting a lamborghini. 2. sailom's boss actually like... needing some evidence instead of just bending over backwards to please a rich client 3. sailom fucking uno reversing that credit card sneak and humiliating kanghan with the smuggest lil good boy smile and THAT is why chimon is the ultimate snake-cat like he has a face made for scheming.

i am really loving sailom because he keeps his head, is really resourceful and will not take any shit. boy does not hesitate to drag this bastard for filth every chance he gets, beating kanghan in his own game without ever stepping down from the high road.

ooh, we are meeting kanghan's family and they are... both not as trash but also as trash as i expected? like i kinda thought more mafia vibes but if laws of attraction - and real life - has taught me anything it is that politicians are garbage.

on the surface his dad seems almost a jolly good fellow but the conversation with this random girl just confirmed there is something so much darker lurking under the surface. as much as it hurts to have a hyper critical parent, having one who has seemingly completely given up on you can be just as bad.

he's basically been called stupid twice in under five minutes. someone save him.

sailom will not be fooled by a shady ass phone call and neither will he leave a friend behind. this boy will not be distracted by tits with a side of toast. he is a man on a mission.

the way i gasped when i saw this court set up and i have so many questions. do the students just have a cardboard gotham in the basement or - based by the fact we see loose boxes and a shopping cart - did kanghan build this just to prove how big his dick is to sailom ???

chimon's acting is honestly a+ and he is carrying this show. the tension! the absolute rage that is bleeding through! the way he doesn't have to go big with gestures and expressions to convey everything sailom is feeling perfectly - and not just that. you know what sailom is feeling AND you can see his brain working.

kanghan, sweetie, you might want to take a moment and reflect on your obsession with getting this boy out of his clothes and making him kneel.

not gonna lie, i kinda saw this move coming because tropes but god was it satisfying :D the reactions of kanghan and sailom's friends are hilarious (10/10 i am evil tea, he totally ships it) and then the camera pans and you can see all these bystanders just standing stock still, filming giving major horror movie vibes and aaaaaaah

i love how his best friend is just "auto." like his parents were "we are poor, naming the kid a vehicle will be fine. no need to bring brands into it."

(That's longer than usual, yes. Easter Vigil is actually one of my fave services of the year--we start outside lighting candles (the ones inside have been out since Thursday night, even the one we otherwise never put out), then walk into the dark church, then sorta speedrun bits of the old testament (with a hymn after every reading) and then we decide OKAY IT'S EASTER NOW :D and turn on the lights and make a lot of noise and sing a few more hymns--we don't sing or say alleluia during Lent so all the hymns have that in it. There's often MASSIVE amounts of church incense, too. Anyway by the end it's a bit of a party. Apparently some churches have an actual party after the service.)(side note if you're new-ish to these posts that I'm Episcopalian, like, the priests at my church are a gay man and a woman, we're cool people mostly I promise)

Bow: "Prime may have made you do a lot of things, but he can't turn you into something you're not. So, right now, all I need you to do is trust me."

Her eyes get normal for a second and she yells, and Bow slams a button on Entrapta's computer. There's a bright light.

Where Sea Hawk is holding Mermista, her chip goes dead and falls off. We get a lovely montage of other characters from all over Etheria, like Huntara and the folks at Elberon, who'd been chipped having their eyes go back to normal!

Scorpia: "oh my gosh I am so sorry!!"

"I had such high hopes for you." like what, dude. keeping her around and chipped like a fucking puppet as an example? eugh. (something something about how her speeches to Adora while chipped were an obvious reference to people proselytizing high-control faiths)

the moment of distraction is enough for the tentacle monster to grab one of Catra's legs and she screams in pain D:

But also damn one thing Shadow Weaver and Horde Prime (and Light Hope!) have in common is they both believe love and affection and "attachments" are weaknesses. Shadow Weaver just cannot seem to get it through her head that Adora's love for Catra (and vice versa) is helpful here. Not a detriment. Love isn't a distraction!!! It gives us a stable ground of security and safety from which to do hard things!!

Meanwhile poor Angella told Adora "take care of each other."

This is pulsating, and so is the Failsafe on Adora's chest

OH NO oh god Okay being near that much hardcore magic is making Shadow Weaver powerful--her hair does the floaty thing for the first time since, what, s2? And she starts reaching for it, but THEN--

Adora yells Catra's name and starts walking back towards her, and Shadow Weaver's hair falls down again and she says the most weirdly desperate-sounding "Adora, wait!"

And y'all I know I talked about this a LOT way back in earlier seasons but I cannot tell you how accurate this keeps being in regards to dealing with an abusive parent. Like if you'd asked me, even after I cut off contact, if I wanted my dad to die, I would've said No! Of course not! At that point I didn't know whether the no-contact thing was temporary or not. I just knew I needed time and space to not be constantly stressed and anxious, for a notification on my phone to not immediately fill me with so much adrenaline my hands shook.

Ok since my whooooole ass backstory for shang can't be summed up in one post. (Too long to explain)

Shang tsung basically telling (a young,SLIGHTLY arrogant,inexperienced young god raiden. Granted again at the time,stakes were high,emotions were high,and it just was a complicated messy situation) to fuck off for blowing off his feelings of his mother who passed away weeks before the big tournament. Whom i hc was basically fighting cancer. All his family has suffered an early death,sudden death,or just suffered from illnesses. He just happened to be the only one in his generation to be healthy and not suffer with that problem. Despite his mothers illness,she still composed herself with grace. She took descent care of herself despite her health declining. She had a gentle and kind soul but had strong,intellectual mind. With great love and compassion for her son,her community and those who were defenseless,poor,or under oppression. Never once did she have to raise her hand in anger but only in a calm authoritative way. She carried herself as if she was an empress,yet with all the humbleness of a simple weaver who lived a simple life. Caring for the only child,the only son she had. The only family. By herself none the less. No needing help from any man. Not because she didn't want shang to have a father,no. It was because she didn't feel the need. She knew of her short time on this realm. So she taught shang everything she could to the best of her ability. But tho she herself could fight,and knew martial arts. She sent shang tsung to learn from lord raiden. For this tournament....known....as mortal kombat. For the defense of his home. Tho shang only wanted to fight for his mother. Never his realm or any big cause. Nor any god.

Again i have a whole ass backstory for shang. And a whole family. Real family. None of these dumb clones,none of these damned typical hcs of deadbeat asshole dad. No his father and all his family were pretty chill,kind,and simple folk. But always valued education and spiritual connections. They just suffered from bad luck of early deaths.

Shang was the only one to avoid these things. He never knew his brothers n sister. They died in childbirth. He never knew his father. He died defending his home and village against an oppressive system. His aunts n uncles died of old age n sickness. But pretty harshly. Etc.

Like i just want shang to always have this. I need to have stability,survival,and a need for comfort because i never got it so if i have,you damn well bet im clinging to it with all my claws sinked in deeply.

Psychologically this makes even more sense when he bacame under shao kahn. An oppressive boot heel on his neck. Anything it took to survive,even if he had to swallow his pride n dignity to get ahead or even a way out or even Just to make it thru the day.

This is a man who has been broken and took the broken pieces and carved a sword. Angry,hurt,bitter at his former mentor,no friends made,that didn't turn on him,lie to him,or turned away because he was "different" (i hc yeah shang was the weird nerdy kid. Quiet. Valued books,smarts and skills over muscle and physical prowess. Tho he was good at that too and gained that also)

I strongly disagree that this kind of shit is motivational, ngl. It made me want to turn around, go home and bury my face in a kingsize tub of Ben & Jerry’s. There are definitely people who respond well to nastiness as motivation - hell, look at how they train soldiers in the army, that’s a solid 70% getting roared at and insulted by some meathead drill sergeant, and they seem to thrive on it. But I’m not one of them. I respond well to praise and encouragement, and very badly to criticism, especially if it’s unwanted, unwelcome and coming from complete strangers. 

But some of these suggestions are hilarious and I’m very touched you took the time to type them out for me <3. Another friend suggested wordlessly screaming as loud and long as possible in order to appear unhinged, which would also be deeply funny if I could pull it off. My entire life has been a performance of quiet, unassuming congeniality in order to Fit In, so doing something like that is. Almost unthinkable? It was drummed into me as a tiny child being bullied that the #1 way to deal with that shit is to pretend you didn’t even hear it, and thus avoid confrontation, and unfortunately that’s now basically embedded in my DNA - I do it automatically, before I even realise I’m reacting at all. By the time I’ve parsed what was said, realised it was said to me, and the anger has overwhelmed my automatic “Ignore It, Be The Bigger Person” response, I’ve already walked past them, and I’d look even sillier coming back like “Well actually -”

(Yes, I am angry that this was the only method of dealing with conflict I was ever taught. GIRL GET OUT OF THERE !!! Willy yelling at Scary gave me flashbacks to how he yelled at Ron in S1 which pretty much reinforced what i already knew that this guy is just as bad as before and he didn’t change for shit. I’ve been saying this for so long, but the only reason i think Scary sticks with him is because he tells her everything she wants to hear, but i also think it’s because she feels shackled by him in a way? I mean, all her powers come from Willy so without him she wouldn’t have anything… also that ritual Willy mentioned scares me because what do you mean Scary will talk to the Doodler directly ?? i feel like there’s something sinister behind that, like maybe he wasn’t fully telling the truth, you know? I also believe in my heart that she actually cares for the other teens… she tries to distance herself from them to keep up with her dark persona and lashes out, but that’s just that… a persona, a shield she uses to protect herself or the only way she knows how to express the negative emotions that have been building up inside her. Anyways i’m a Scary apologist and i need her to stay away from Willy so she can be okay because i am worried sick all the time

Ok so, before this episode i thought Link was growing apathetic to the whole thing and i didn’t blame him. I mean, imagine being taught all your life that lying is bad only to find out your father has been lying to you all the time! Also, he had been homeschooled his whole life and suddenly his first experience hanging out with other teens is filled with saving the world, betrayal, lies, and some very upsetting revelations. If that were me, i too would become apathetic to everything just to avoid being overwhelmed by it! But i don’t think that’s the case anymore, more like he puts up an apathetic FRONT to hide how SCARED he is. He is scared and guilty and just wants it all to be over so he can have a moment of peace. I remember reading a post here that expressed how selfless Link is and i agree, a lot of his fear i think comes from what’s happening around him rather than what’s happening to him. Sure, he can suddenly make a fucking nasty ass comment here and there, but i can also understand why? Like… i’m sure he doesn’t enjoy making those comments, they come from a place of just being too stressed or scared to think straight which i’m sure some of us have experienced before one way or another. You know that saying that like when someone is angry they say things they don’t mean? It’s exactly that! or at least that’s how I see it… Link needs a hug i hope he gets to meet up with Marco at some point and get a good cry out he deserves it

Oh my boy… so he has been very intriguing to me even before this episode because i’m always left wondering what he’s thinking. He always seems so unbothered by everything, even when his head got cut off he was just like pissed at Scary’s betrayal more than him no longer having a body. But i loved the insight i’ve been craving this episode, because hey even if he acts unbothered he is still a teen, he WILL be affected one way or another. His coping mechanism might be just jokes or putting his mind on something else that brings comfort (anime). But yeah, he was affected by Tony’s death because he lost someone he found he could share his love for anime with! And I,,, god he was so happy talking to his dad and finding out his dad also watched anime and enjoyed it? It did remind me of Glenn and Nick’s relationship in S1 pre-the trial a bit and i have a lot of feelings about Glenn but that’s for another day. He is clearly pissed at Scary and, i mean, i love her but rightfully so. I cant even imagine how he feels after seeing his dad decapitated after connecting with him for the first time in his life! (Also i don’t think Nick is dead-dead he can’t be i refuse to believe it) i’m just,,, i’m nervous for how his demeanor may change after that… and if it doesn’t then i’ll worry more honestly

Also… have his parents just not been looking for him or anything ?? because that’s also a factor to consider, like what’s going on there?? Anyways, i hope he gets remembered more even though it isn’t very likely and if they do go to the Goofs realm, well, im excited to see how he interacts with Scam if he even gets the chance. I’m very happy Hero has a bigger role in this whole story btw but it also creates much more conflict between them than the typical siblings butting heads stuff. (i honestly ignore the fact that Normal hates Hero only bc i like the idea of them caring for each other bc i am like that with one of my siblings and idk Normal deserves having a shoulder to rely on) Also, finding out your dad may not be your dad? Honestly at this point i think it’s confirmed that Lark IS Normal’s dad because if they had Hero to pass on the static to her, then Normal would be born and have nothing which means he wouldn’t have been able to communicate with the Doodler in the church but he DID and well Lark still had that static unless he secretly had another kid, which i doubt, so…. just food for thought. Another thing, he knows what the Doodler wants and fears, the other teens know he knows, so the fact they don’t listen to him i can imagine is so frustrating… especially because he has this need to be liked by everyone because that’s what he bases his self-worth on so if your own friend group brushes you aside (from your perspective) then what does that say about everyone else? That’s a thing about Normal i think a lot of people forget. Yes he is self-centered, but i don’t think he is because he truly believes he is better than everyone else, rather because all his self worth is based on how everyone else perceives him and he has believed for so long that everyone loved him for being Teeny and those rose-tinted glasses have been crushed under his father’s feet and now he is seeing everything clearer and it’s too much, so he tries to compensate for it by telling himself that no he IS better than everyone else in a way, he IS the pride and spirit of the school even though he knows deep down that that’s just not true! On another note, he did say this episode that he wanted to walk away, something many of us thought could’ve happened, which solidifies me saying he is frustrated, “you won’t listen to me then i’ll do this on my own!” kind of mentality.

The Obelisk Gate

I love how Alabaster came back. It makes it feel more tied to The Fifth Season, in a … poetic way?

As far as structure goes, The Fifth Season is incredible. As it goes with orogenes vs stills and intergenerational trauma, I connected to The Obelisk Gate more.

Nassun

I can’t get over the difference between Coru and Nassun’s upbringing. Just how it feels like a whole separate universe seeing Nassun talking about Essun.

Essun even did the hand breaking thing!

Like fucking god, I forgot how terrified she must be to just do that. Syen certainly wouldn’t have done that to Coru. I don’t know how to put it into words. I’m just glad that Essun isn’t made out to be evil but Nassun’s feelings about this are portrayed as valid.

It was like she was raised by the facade of a parent when in reality Essun just brought the Fulcrum home and became an instructor.

v Jija

Nassun’s love of Jija is so palpable. Her denial after seeing her bro post-incident to trying to find a way to keep Jija as her dad in her mind.

Also, it just makes me wonder with Jija’s portrayal if this is how some people keep the cognitive dissonance in their mind thinking they’re doing good while also doing that…

It’s also really heart-breaking at the end when Nassun has to break off her relationship with her father. She tried so hard. Also just the way that her father not accepting her and her brother is largely what lead her to having to kill in self-defense and take this path.

I can’t remember the quote but Schaffa described Jija as someone who was like an acid or hyperreactive— that there wasn’t a safe way to be around him.

And damn did she try. She fawned over him and did everything to manipulate the situation where they could be in the same room but he was so set in those ways. It’s almost like Father Earth had a hold of him, except unlike Schafa, he didn’t try to fight it.

Essun

I want to talk exclusively about Essun first but since all the things I want to talk about are mostly relating to her relationship with other characters GAH! Okay, so.. I really liked how she uncovered how to sess out the magic in the Earth with Ykka’s help.

It’s this magical (heh) scene that I honestly should’ve saved a quote from. The way even the descriptive text seems to hold it’s breath as she realizes the white stringy things are everywhere.

Also, I originally sought out The Fifth Season researching DID and I completely forgot until now. Some of the interludes plus Essun being in the 2nd person solidify it. It’s not like other portrayals I’ve seen like Set a House in Order (pretty sure written by a neurotypical) and When Rabbit Howls (story-style autobiographical).

It’s like someone else speaks to Essun and other times sort of the audience? It’s sweet and idk, I liked it.

v Ykka

I know she’s not Ykka’s time but I totally shift it. Plus I love how Ykka’s feral orogeny gives her such a different perspective on the Earth and how it moves, more practical. It shifts Essun’s whole perspective on what a “feral” could be and it’s so adorable and I love the character development.

v Alabaster

TvT They’re such a great QPR. Like fuck Alabaster for triggering a season but him dying sucked ass. It made sense narratively but man, the feels.

Also lol, him being like “fuck teaching the kids” was hilarious when Essun is like “have you ever taught someone?” And then I’m like “Essun, you are a jackass to the kids. Terrifying students does not equal great teacher.”

I would not change that section. Just found my reactio amusing.

v Hoa

Hoa is laying it on, damn! Glad he got the grown up bod before doing that lol.

Schaffa

I kinda like Schaffa, on the other hand, god he somehow terrifies me more now that he can resist the Core Stone thing with how he still is on a genocide spree with that satellite Fulcrum.

Also, idk why but it still surprises me the Artic Fulcrum had no guardian but still kept breaking the hands of grits. Like… I know Essun got messed up but with a whole group of orogenes, you’d think they would want to upend it? Idk, it makes sense but it just makes me sad is all.

On the bright side, I was able to read the book in under a week without dissassociating which made for alot more pleasant read. I love The Fifth Season but between… everything, that was a hard af read. A good read but hard. This one’s more so sad.

I don’t know how to express how much I liked it. I want to say love like.. idk, feeling strong emotions can be weird? Idk fuck it, I loved it.
