“I’m not totally mad at you. I’m just sad. You’re all locked up in that little world of yours, and when I try knocking on the door, you just sort of look up for a second and go right back inside.”
— Haruki Murakami

So blessed. To be woken at 7 am to the boys laughing together. To look over and see you peacefully sleeping. To be able to hang out with the boys while I make "the best chocolate chip pancakes ever!!!" and the cranky teen sleeps soundly down the hall. These days are exhausting, but I wouldn't trade them for the world.

Today has healed my soul in ways I didn't know I needed. To watch you interact with my daughter... to watch you care for her, talk to her, and truly listen to her. To listen to the 2 of you giggle uncontrollably, talk about shows and movies, to watch you share ice cream. To watch the soft smile glued to your face as she's spent the last 30 minutes drawing "tattoos" on you.
Thank you. Thank you for loving her. Thank you for letting her love you. Thank you for the 2 beautiful sons you've brought into my life.
Thank you for blessing my life in ways I never knew possible.
I can't wait to see where life takes our family ⚘️❤️

When she shares the same posts as your best friend... that feels like a sign.

I wanna make you so happy to the point where you can't stop smiling sometimes.
And I wanna make you feel really loved so you don't have to doubt anything for a second.
And as I keep learning new stuff about you I want to prove how incredible I think you are.

Can we stop using "still lives with their parents" or "unemployed" or "doesn't have a drivers license" or "didn't graduate high school" as an insult or evidence that someone is a bad person? Struggling with independence or meeting milestones is not a moral failing.

This has the potential to be that can't-eat, can't-sleep, reach-for-the-stars, over-the-fence, World Series kind of love.
Whatever happens next, it's worth it.
She's worth it.
Nothing in my past even holds a candle to what this feels like.

i think one of the most important things you learn about making connections with others is that a significant portion of the time people just do not know theyre doing what theyre doing
