So, an idea I just thought of. Astarion is being canon as girl dad. But Gale. In fact. Is definitely girl dad. Why? Because Tim Downie who voices Gale. Has two young daughters. (He says it in my cameo on my Tumblr) and it would be hella rad to see Gale with two daughters with your tav. A mix of both personalities will be wild. Haha it's an idea. Girl Dad indeed. Meet Morena and Clio Dekarios (can you guess which one is Merena. Which one is Clio? lmao).

Gale Dekarios, a 20 something year old is a broke college student. He just got dumped by his long term girlfriend. Along with that he lost his decent paying job, love having your ex gf as your boss.

After losing his job, Gale is struggling to keep up with rent for his tiny apartment and barely scraping by. Being desperate for cash he's about to resort to unsavory means.

Luckily well winding down from a long day of job searching and dead end interviews. Well he was reading the news paper, he finds a job posting too good to be true.

It's a simple pet sitting job offering way more money than his last job.

He mulls over his options for a few days before he caves, he really need the money

He calls the number listed. He's informed he's the only person who's called and that if he'd like the job they'd have to meet. A small meet and greet if you will. Apparently Mr. Ancunin cat is extremely moody and picky with his sitters.

They scheduled a time and Gale still think this is too good to be true. He looks up the address given and his jaw drops, it's in the richer side of the city and he's 100% convinced he's going to get mugged!!

Still being curious he also looks up 'ancunin', however nothing comes up but a few articles about an old crime case that doesn't sound interesting.

A few days later, Gale got ready for the meet and greet, he was a bit miffed, he had to ask his mother for some money, getting to the other side of the city isn't easy and he's not walking the entire way there.

Gale arrives at a grand house, it's beautiful! It has white picket fence and the whole nine yards. Gale showed up early and lingers outside the residents, nosy neighbors poking their heads from door and glancing through their windows really put Gale off from doing what he came to do. After about 15 minutes of pacing he finally knocks on the front door of the house.

He waits and waits and waits until he heard a loud shout and yowling. The door opened and there sat a sphynx cat, in what looks to be an expensive lil sweater.

Gale stares at the cat before hearing grumbling and muffled swears coming closer. A man with silver-white hair and the loveliest grey-blue eyes appears

We all know Wyll is definitely the best dancer

And everyone would recognize him and want to chat and don't even get me started on the ladies absolutely swooning over him

But he'd be sure to show you off and focus in on you in such a way that you never doubted that he only has eyes for you

Give him a tune and he will make it happen: he can dance ballroom, waltz, tango, salsa, swing, and more!

It would also be super important to him to learn dances from your culture to show you how invested he is in you🥺

Will always have one last dance with you after you stumble home, just the two of you as he hums in the twilight of the kitchen

Lae'zel:

Would complain about having to dress in impractical clothes the whole time getting ready

Until she sees how stunning you are and, although she still says it is impractical, she would definitely tell you your elevated look is beyond satisfactory

Would probably hop into random conversations she finds interesting and scope out the whole event

Though she'd resist dancing in front of strangers, you'd catch her tapping her foot to the music

And on the walk back you could twirl her around (very briefly) and crack her tough exterior just enough to see her smile but she would deny any such thing if you ever tried to mention it again

Astarion:

Doesn't remember much about actually learning it anymore, but ballroom comes really easily to Astarion and it brings him a lot of joy to feel something his torment could not successfully erase

He also loves that dancing with you is an easy excuse not to talk to the high society crowds that often show up at events like this, and instead you can gossip together the whole night

"my dear we should get one of those for you!" And he'd wiggle his eyebrows and gesture to an over-the-top man in a bright green tailcoat, an 18" powdered wig covered with tiny Baldurian flags and ribbons atop his head. You'd slap his shoulder playfully and try to conceal your laughter

Even when you take a break from dancing, his hand is (respectfully) around your waist to protect and guide you through the crowd

Would 100% get drunk with you and sneak off into a non-party area of the venue to make out

Karlach:

A little too excited bc she lovesss parties of any variety

Does a frantic fashion show while you get ready, panicking about what go wear

She definitely does crazy moves in each outfit to test out it's danceability

Would turn into a dad the way she makes friends literally the whole time; it takes 10 minutes just to get inside because she can't stop chatting with the doorman

She asked Astarion to teach her to dance as soon as she found out you were going to this, that way she can successfully woo you on the dancefloor!

Gale:

He was very nervous to dance because he always skipped his school dances at the academy so he could explore forbidden places while the rest of the school was preoccupied

He definitely confides in Wyll on all this, and our lovely homeboy teaches him then and there how to lead💃

Gale can't stop the bi-panic when Wyll dips him almost down to the floor, with a cheeky wink

But now that you're here he's excited to listen in on the conversations of the many researchers and society members here!

He would get engrossed in conversation and you'd go dance with some friends that were there and it's like a romcom when he turns and sees you twirl across the floor🥲

He completely abandons his colleagues and appears out of nowhere, hand on your waist, waltzing you around

Wyll does a sly lil fist pump "yes, my man!" as he sees Gale spin you from across the floor

Shadowheart:

She lovesss getting ready and helping you get ready as well

Loves the tiny hors d'eouvres and smallglasses of wine and champagne they serve at events of this scale

It unlocks a core memory of her mother reading her fairytales as a girl, and she quickly wipes a small tear before it can fall

The quadrille is her favorite, she loves that it's social and friendly without having to hold a full conversation with a stranger

Would pepper your face with kisses on the way home thanking you for such a lovely time

Halsin:

He's not super used to the formal dance styles of the city, but he's ready to learn as he goes for you!

But he also flirts with the violinist and easily convinces him to play a little jig so he can show off

Also loves the food; I firmly feel Halsin would be a really adventurous eater and he'd be excited to try the variety of new spices and flavors they have at this event

Has 0 clue but the entire venue is ✨obsessed✨ with him

Gale had insisted on cooking dinner for John as a thank you for allowing him to move into his house. John, of course, waved it off and said it was just part of the territory, he loved Gale and wanted to keep him safe. But Gale still fought tooth and nail to spoil John a little bit for all of the things he had done for him.

He sat John down in the dining room and told him to wait, retreating back into the kitchen to grab their dinner. John smiles, tapping his finger against the table when he hears a crash from the kitchen. He cranes his head into the kitchen, can't quite see Gale from where he's sitting, and calls out his name.

When he doesn't hear a response, he gets up and wanders into the kitchen, calling his name again. He pauses when he finally sees Gale, staring at the plate in horror, hands trembling, and when he sees John he panics.

"Fuck, I'm sorry I'm sorry, I'll clean it up, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry," Gale says, voice shaking as he crouches down and starts picking up the broken pieces of the plate with his hands.

He scrapes the porcelain into his shaking hands, sensitive skin starting to bleed as he does, and John has to swoop down to stop him from continuing.

"Hey, hey, Gale, it's okay. Don't do that darling, you're gonna hurt yourself," John says, taking Gale's hands and holding them in his own.

They tremble like a leaf, and Gale can't meet his gaze, closing his eyes and averting his gaze to the floor. There were silent tears streaming down his face.

"Gale?" John asks, crouching down a little further to look at Gale's expression.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I know I've been bad, fuck I'm so sorry, I can clean it up, John, I'm sorry," Gale mutters again, rocking forward ever so slightly on the balls of his feet as if he's going to start trying to clean up the plate again, but John stops him with a firm grip.

"Hey, doll, come on, look up at me. Easy, now," John says, taking one of his hands and tilting Gale's chin upwards.

Gale's eyes are glassy and frightened, can't quite meet John's gaze, but John shushes him and runs a hand through his hair and cups his face. He smiles warmly at him, hoping to get a smile in return.

"It's no big deal, Gale. It's just a plate. I've got a lot of those," John says but Gale just shakes his head.

"But I broke it," He tries to justify and John shakes his head again.

"That doesn't matter, doll, all that matters is that you don't get hurt. And your poor hands, come on let's get those wrapped up," John says, gently pulling Gale towards the sink and his first aid kit.

Gale still trembles, but he's not crying anymore. He leans in closer to John's shoulder, allowing him to carry some of the weight as John slowly washes the blood from Gale's hand.

"How are you doing?" John asks, putting some antiseptic on the wounds before putting small bandages across them.

Gale heaves a sigh and rests his head on John's shoulder. John ruffles Gales hair, smiles at him warmly.

"My father would always yell when me or my mama ever broke something. Called us dumb and stupid and would hit us, told us we weren't grateful for all the things he got us if we would just break them," Gale mutters and John tilts his head up again.

He presses a gentle kiss on Gale's lips, cupping his cheek.

"I'll tell you something right now, Gale. I will never, never, do anything that your no good father did. You'll always be safe with me," John whispers.

Gale smiles, wrapping his arms around John's waist and pulling him closer, lets himself be kissed sweetly as John caresses his hair.

They go to a diner for dinner, which makes Gale pout, but John can't imagine a better place than here with Gale.

hc that durge prior to the big bonk was actually very smart. in another life he would have made an amazing doctor due to his aptitude for medicine, anatomy, plants n poisons. my durge is running around with 8 intelligence, head hurty. he knows he used to know more things. i think durge would relate a lot to gale in that they're both mourning a loss of skills that's probably very frustrating and upsetting. i also like to imagine that sceleritas fel was really the one who raised durge a la london & mr. mosby sweet life of zack and cody. sceleritas fel isnt durge's dad but he IS the dad who stepped up. durge probably still hated him but like in a loving way; where he would bite and kill sceleritas multiple times a day, annoyed that sceleritas is nothing but supportive about it like "excellent work young master you grow in rottenness by the hour" and it's like a snarling teenage durge who's mad that he essentially has a babysitter on his ass 24/7 to keep him in line with Bhaal's demands. sceleritas supported baby durge in everything and probably encouraged him to study and continually improve his skills 🥺

Omg, coffee shop AUs!!! I can't believe there isn't one yet (I think) but the possibilities, just thinking of them makes my heart melt 😭

Maybe John develops a crush for the pretty boy who always comes in to work on his laptop (because the coffeeshop is a safer place than at home with his dad to study) but who's also very polite and patient, actually treating John and his colleagues like human even during rush hours, John always leaving cute lil notes on Gale's drinks like "Good luck with exams :)" when he knows it's exams season and Curt giving John shit when he sees John sighing dreamily at Gale, hunched over his astrophysics books, when there's a lull

Or maybe Gale's world lightens up when sunshine personified keeps coming to his lil coffeeshop, always trying weird drinks and combinations but with always a kind word for Gale, like a "good luck" with an empathetic smile when Gale serves him during rush hour, John trying to do small talk while Gale prepares his drink when the coffeeshop isn't busy and doing an internal victory dance when he makes Gale smile

Ahhh now I want to write one too 😂😭 But yes, I can't wait for all the seasonal AUs, they're all gonna be so fluffy and healing for my soul 🥹

Sunrise On the Reaping Spoilers ahead!!!

Just exceptionally scrambled thoughts because I finished reading the book today.

This book was so heavy. I expected it to spark a full reread but honestly I think need to read something lighter for a bit.

It was sooo good though. I think it did a lot to flesh out Haymitch as a character in a way I didn't expect.

Teen Haymitch was so sweet, kind and just a carefree kid in the beginning (as carefree as you can be in Panem) He couldn't help but love the younger kids and it hurt him so much he couldn't protect them.

Louella and Lou Lou for example even when Haymitch swore he would care about her he did in the end. Who really was Lou Lou? What happened to that poor girl and her family?

Amperts' deaths might be one of the hardest deaths I ever read. I did not expect for this book to expand on Beetee so much as it did, and gosh, Ampert really crushed me. Did Snow stop there? Did her hurt Beetees wife and other child?

Burdock Everdeen 😭 they were best friends, in a different world Haymitch could have been Katniss's uncle. When he described how he pushed them away I was just so sad.

And his description of young Katniss 🥺 How he reminded him of Louella his "sweetheart"

You don't even know just how much he cares for Katniss until this it's devastating.

Lenore Dove. She would have done so much. The gumdrops?? Having Haymitch give her the thing that kills her.

His mother and Sid. They died holding each other. They were probably so excited to see Haymitch again. Snow waisted no time ruining his life.

Also. On a completely different note do we think Blair is Gales dad? Idk I kept expecting them to confirm that because almost every other character was connected.

Ugh there is so much more I can't possibly get my thoughts out properly.

Haymitch was such a different character to experience the world from. Not so selfish and corrupt as Snow and not so cynical and jaded as Katniss.

He has so much farther to fall then the others if they makes. He looses everything and spend so many years stuck in that loss. It is so devastating.

I usually GM, but when playing I love a bard. Generally I play casters and bards are just fun and can be silly little guys. I have Gippu! (the exclamation mark is part of his legal name) he's a kobold bard who thinks he's a dragonborn and plays the bagpipes to annoy everyone around him.

Also play a lot of druids. Kendell Silversea was circle of dreams and somehow survived drowning twice but does not know how. Calisto was a very quickly made character circle of stars (basically Sia pulp musicals but we never did character backstory stuff in that campaign).

Favorite magical item is probably the deck of many things. It's so chaotic, I never give it to players in a main campaign, but sometimes I run high level combat one-shots when not enough people can make it and someone always takes the deck. It's also very fun without a backstory. Like you make a throw away character for this one-shot and then they pull Ruin and whatever nonexistent treasure they had is just gone. Have also seen someone whose dad was a devil pull Flames and it just increased their daddy issues.

The figurines of wonderous power are also fun. There are prehistoric ones too so I've been sowing those in Gecko. Shakira's player loves them so he's been collecting them and naming them. The elephant is Juliana. The party also broke into Anlyn's ex's house and stole the Golden Lions from him.

Favorite monster is probably dragons. They're a classic and I love them. Mother was an ancient blue dragon who ran a whole society and the party helped return her son to her so she rewarded them by destroying a whole town they had beef with.

Din or Istaldriden the Elegant and his echo Istaldriden the Decorous are from Laitele, my folklore inspired campaign. Din got trapped on the Material Plane and his echo wants to kill all the other echos to be more powerful. But Din just wants to prank people so keeps sending little mechanical critters through the portal to bother his echo. One of the PCs, Gale (@dorianswingedboots come back to tumblr I'm talking about you) inda accidently got into a pack with the echo because she said she disliked children once, which the Decorous approved of.

Advice on worldbuilding is mostly just do what you think is cool! I write stuff I find interesting and throw it in. But always be flexible. If your players get hooked on something random you though was nothing, build that out. And if they are ignoring something you want to talk about, feel free to move it's location or adjust it's plot, so they'll run into it anyways. Laitele was basically just me learning a new folktale and being "that's cool, let's do an adventure based on that," and seeing it the players were also interested. While the past and history of your world is very cool, the game is being played in the present, and what captures and intrigues your players is the most important thing.

‘What agenda?’ You must be asking! Well it’s simple! Dad caregiver Halsin.

Halsin is such a dad it hurts. He is so unbelievably sweet and parental. For real the only one in the party that is stable. Halsin himself also mentions that he wishes he could start a family in a longing manner, so caring for the little ones really helps with that!

now imagine this. Halsin pinned to the floor by Astarion, Gale and Shadowheart. All three regressed and sleepy so they decided that our resident Druid dad would be a perfect pillow. Halsin the big softy he is has no objections to this and when asked by one of the other party members is he needs help he just smiles and shakes his head no “never been better”
