The Labyrinth of the Spirits, by Carlos Ruiz Zafón
The final volume of Ruiz Zafón’s cycle of novels set in the universe of the Cemetery of Forgotten Books, beautiful and enigmatic Alicia Gris, with the help of the Sempere family, uncovers one of the most shocking conspiracies in all Spanish history. Nine-year-old Alicia lost her parents during the Spanish Civil War when the Nacionales (the fascists) savagely bombed Barcelona in 1938. Twenty years later, she still carries the emotional and physical scars of that violent and terrifying time. Weary of her work as an investigator for Spain’s secret police in Madrid, a job she has held for more than a decade, the twenty-nine-year old plans to move on. At the insistence of her boss, Leandro Montalvo, she remains to solve one last case: the mysterious disappearance of Spain’s Minister of Culture, Mauricio Valls. With her partner, the intimidating policeman Juan Manuel Vargas, Alicia discovers a possible clue—a rare book by the author Victor Mataix hidden in Valls’ office in his Madrid mansion. Valls was the director of the notorious Montjuic Prison in Barcelona during World War II where several writers were imprisoned, including David Martín and Victor Mataix. Traveling to Barcelona on the trail of these writers, Alicia and Vargas meet with several booksellers, including Juan Sempere, who knew her parents. As Alicia and Vargas come closer to finding Valls, they uncover a tangled web of kidnappings and murders tied to the Franco regime, whose corruption is more widespread and horrifying than anyone imagined. Alicia’s courageous and uncompromising search for the truth puts her life in peril. Only with the help of a circle of devoted friends will she emerge from the dark labyrinths of Barcelona and its history into the light of the future.

source | index
(Law and Cora don't appear in this week's part, we'll see them next week!)
"A Grand festival for Onigiri lovers, the Onigiri Expo!"
<What appears before Luffy's brother Ace kun is... Onigiri? >
Onigiri: Waff!
Ace: The heck are you?
[Title Card: New World High "Moby Dick School" 2nd year, Fire fist Ace kun]
Ace: A baby bear?
Onigiri: Waff!
Ace: If it waffs then dog, I guess...You a pup?
Onigiri: *huff* *huff*
Ace: Here, take the skin of my steamed bun. See ya.
(walks away)
Sorry, doggo. I can keep a beetle at best as a pet.
Onigiri: (look at him rofl)
Ace:.....
Hoop!
*puts Onigiri down*
*starts running*
HOW 'BOUT THAT??
Onigiri: Waff! Waff!
Onigiri: *plops*
Ace: !
(Don't look back...!!) *dragging himself*
(rip dog)
Ace: DARN IT!!
Ace: Fine, fiine... my loss.
Well, it's definitely a lost dog so that takes some weight off... let's search for your master, shall we?
Onigiri: *marveled at butterflies*
Ace: Try actin' like a lost dog, will you...
Well, let's go! Er...... Norimochi!
Onigiri:.....
Ace:.... Guess that's not the name.
(T/N: Norimochi is mochi wrapped seaweed so Ace was pretty close! Reminder that Onigiri is named by Luffy, so the bothers have a similar naming tendency lol)
<DOOON! >
[Title card: Faculty, New World Middle School
White Chase Smoker sensei]
Smoker: How long does a freaking cup of coffee take? Tashigi!!!
Tashigi: I'm sorry! There are so many types of beans;;
Someone: *light coughs*
Ace: Sorry for the inconvenience, but... do you perhaps recognize this dog?
Smoker:
Ace: 'guess not? Sorry for the trouble! 👋🏼
Smoker: You!!
Smoker: HOLD IT RIGHT THERE!
Tashigi: *brings coffee* Decided to go with the regular after all!...Huh?
Ace:!!
Oop!!
Ace: The dude from earlier.. ain't that too flashy for a greeting?
Smoker: You sure look carefree... Whitebeard corps second commander, Portgas D. Ace.
Ace: Mm? You're that guy from Luffy's class! If I remember right, smokey-
Smoker: It's Smoker!
Ace: Right, Smoker sensei, tutoring my li'l brother.
Smoker: Cut the crap. You stayed at our school for two months, made a name while I was away on a business trip, then quickly transferred to Moby Dick School branch.
Only if you hadn't moved there... I would've thrown you and your brother into the reform room and straightened you out!
Ace: Well, now I'm practically in a different school, so let all that slide, maybe?
Smoker: No can do. As long as I'm a teacher, and you're a thug!
Ace: What a boring reason.
Aight, let's have fun!
Smoker: But before that, why's that dog with you?

Charisma House - Superhuman Sharehouse Story “Charisma” - #39 Today’s dinner
Please read alongside listening to the drama track on Youtube.
TL note:
Moonsault is better known as a “Tsukahara” in gymnastics for the English speaking world.
伸身の新月面 is a moonsault where one does two somersaults and two twists in a backward hold with a stretched posture. (I’m sorry to any gymnasts for this sloppy explanation). This should correspond to ‘double layout full in full out’ (I believe?) but to indicate that it’s specifically a stretched posture, I added in a stretched.
Iori talks about a 1000 day “pilgrimage” at some point. This is known as “kaihougyou” formally and is practiced by Tendai Buddhist monks, as an ascetic exercise. (pursuing enlightenment)
Iori: Hmm~ What should I do. I keep hesitating~
Rikai: Iori-san? Is there something wrong?
Iori: Ah, Rikai-kun. I can’t make up my mind about what today’s dinner should be
Rikai: Aah, dinner you say. It must be difficult to come up with ideas and cook everyday. Thank you for always going out of your way.
Iori: Wonder what I should do for tonight~
Rikai: Have you considered hamburger steak?
Iori: Eeeh, hamburger steak? Isn’t that kinda plain? It’s so predictable it won’t make anyone happy
Rikai: That’s not true
Rikai: Then, fried chicken?
Iori: Predictable. Actually I made it the other day already
Rikai: Mapo tofu
Iori: Hmm…
Rikai: Grilled ginger pork
Iori: Hmmmmm
Rikai: Omurice
Iori: Yeaah, none of them are exciting~ I kinda want some more punch to it
Iori: Like, everyone will definitely want to eat this! type of deal
Rikai: I-I see. I think it’s more than enough that you’ve made it for us.
Iori: Well I did come up with a tentative candidate
Rikai: A candidate. What may that be?
Iori: Home-smoked Atlantic salmon with steamed polished clams and spring cabbage. A seasonal vegetable jelly dressed with kombu, wild rabbit cooked poêle-style with risotto royal, decorated with autumn truffles and stuffed butterbur scape as garnish.
Iori: Hmmm, yeah no this is still predictable
Rikai: Hold on, that’s not predictable at all! It’s way far from it! Will that be our dinner today!?
Iori: Are you unsatisfied with that?
Rikai: How could I be! Besides, do we even have these ingredients!?
Rikai: Although wild rabbits have emerged but still
Iori: I’m going to catch one right now
Rikai: RIGHT now!? CATCH it!?
Rikai: You’re going to chase after a wild rabbit!? You can’t do that!
Rikai: There’s no way you’d make it in time for dinner with this
Iori: I’ll get it done
Rikai: By what means
Iori: With effort and determination
Rikai: That’s not what I’m asking for
Iori: This very Motohashi Iori overcomes most hurdles with effort and determination.
Iori: Self-sacrifice, contribution, free service
Rikai: Please cease this. This amount of burden isn’t normal. You’ll collapse again, you know.
Iori: Rikai-kun, free service is only sincere if you collapse from it.
Rikai: Iori-san!
Iori: That’s it! I’ll add a new menu!
Rikai: I told you we don’t need that!
Iori: Carefully produced by Iori, Moonsault Udon
Rikai: What kind of udon is that? Moonsault?
Iori: You know that move in gymnastics where they use a high bar to vault?
Iori: A stretched double layout full in full out
Iori: You start with that first, and then you knead the dough by landing in it with both your feet, leading to the birth of a glorious taste~
Rikai: I have no clue what you are saying.
Iori: The centrifugal force made by the iron bars is crucial. These passionate feelings that scream “Become tasty~!” together with that centrifugal force, will get mixed in like DOOON! by landing with both feet in the udon flour.
Rikai: I don’t get it
Iori: A stretched double layout full in full out and going in with both feet like DOOOON! Spin spin spin DOOON! Spin spin spin “Become tasty~!” DOOON! DOOON! U! DOOON! UDOOON! FOOO!! So fun~!
Rikai: Iori-san!
Iori: And then the other one is…
Rikai: Enough already!
Iori: Iori’s deluxe pickled one thousand days pilgrimage
Rikai: Pickled what?
Iori: Bringing rice bran pickled vegetables such as cucumbers and aubergines along, on an ascetic pilgrimage where you walk roughly 30 kilometers on a mountain ridge for 1000 days. At the end of it I’ll have become a high monk. Thereupon the pickled vegetables in rice bran will incarnate a flavour of the ultimate enlightenment comparable to a high monk. However it is said that more or less the maker doesn’t make it out alive so while the pickled vegetables come back home, I probably won’t.
Iori: Ahaha! That’s so hilarious!~~
Rikai: Iori-san! How are we supposed to feel about eating pickled vegetables we obtained in exchange for your life!
Iori: Well, time for the pilgrimage~
Rikai: Don’t go! Also it takes 1000 days!? We’ll starve to death at that point. Please just cook ordinary dinner in an ordinary waaay!!
Fumiya: We’re back
Rikai: !
Iori: Ah.
Sarukawa: What’cha doin’ here
-
Sarukawa: Haah? Obviously ya don’t need to go that far. Just prep up some plain grub, normally
Fumiya: Iori. There’s no need to worry, since it’s always good
Iori: R-really?
Sarukawa: Really. Won’t some plain ol’ curry do the trick tonight?
Fumiya: Curry’s nice. I wanna eat it
Rikai: See? Iori-san. Everyone’s happy with something ordinary. It’s more than enough.
Iori: Okaaay. I get iiit. Then I’ll make some plain curry tonight.
Rikai: Thank god. I appreciate it.
Fumiya: I’m looking forward to it
Sarukawa: Good grief
-
Iori: Sorry to have kept you waiting everyone~!
Everyone: ?
Iori: Here’s your dinner for today!
Iori: A royal mix steak of wild rabbit, wild pig and wild deer, with moonsault 1000 days of pilgrimage pickled Atlantic sliced vegetables in soy sauce as garnish, topped with an Iori sacrifice of onions sweetly sauteed with the utmost effort to the point of breaking wrists, special tendonitis curry!
Iori: Now then, have your fill ☆
Rikai: Iori-san! This is not what we talked about!
Everyone (except Rikai): Bon appétit
Terra: Woah! It’s SO delicious! Whaddahell!
Ohse: Whaddahell
Amahiko: ECSTASYYYYY—!
Sarukawa: So good!
Fumiya: I’m super duper hyped right now
Iori: Is everyone pleased with this?
Everyone (except Rikai): Yes!
Iori: Do you want me to make it again?
Everyone (except Rikai): Absolutely!
Iori: Ofcourse you do~ Fuhahahaha~ aaahAHAHA- Ah!
(Iori collapses)
Rikai: IORI-SAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!
-
Rant note:
You know how hard it was to like, look stuff up about gymnastics? I don’t even know a single thing about gymnastics, and now you want me to read about it in Japanese to properly find a way to explain it? Not only that, you want me to translate it into English that uses completely different terms and moonsault in English is actually a wrestling move and has nothing to do with gymnastics in the slightest? And then also apply it to making udon? And then also make sure it makes sense so it’s funny and people get the joke? Are you KIDDING me? And then there’s an other whole part about Buddhism and asceticism as if the first part wasn’t enough??????? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Sorry. That’s all. I’ll read about every single gymnastics move in the entire world to be prepared for next time.

Ficlet: Betrayal
(Inspired by this lovely anon)
Namaari has never seen Raya so still.
She’s used to Raya being full of energy and tightly coiled reactions, running around finding things to do, people to spar with, or adventures to get lost within. Even at dinner, Raya cannot be motionless, instead jostling her leg or bumping shoulders with Namaari, and Council meetings are a lost cause when it comes to hoping Raya will sit quietly through the entire meeting without finding some reason to escape early.
But now she lies still, her eyes closed and her lips pale and drained of blood. Namaari keeps her eyes fixated on Raya’s breathing, where the slight up-and-down of her chest is the only thing that proves Raya is still alive.
The doctor has said that if she can survive the night, she will be much more likely to make a full recovery. Yet when Namaari places her palm on Raya’s cheek, the skin is cold to touch. Her other hand clutches onto Raya’s fingers, and she tries to share her strength through sheer determination, attempting to manifest Raya’s recovery into existence with her willpower.
-
‘Maari, are you almost dooone?’ Raya asks with a whine, her lips pouting dramatically as she flops down into the chair opposite Namaari’s desk. ‘I’ve been waiting for ages already.’
Namaari lowers her paperwork for a moment, peering across at Raya with a small smile on her face. Raya hates to sit and wait in her office, and the fact that she has been quietly reading for so long already shows her willingness to let Namaari work for the afternoon.
‘I’m sorry, dep la,’ she says with a sigh, wishing she could escape and spend time sparring with Raya instead, as she had promised. Duty always seems to call, however. ‘I have to finish signing off on these policies, and I’m only half-way finished.’
Raya groans, her head lowering to the desk until her forehead is resting on the table.
‘Why don’t you go and find something to do?’ Namaari suggests, recognising Raya will only get more and more restless from here on. Raya turns her head slightly, so she can peek at Namaari’s face through her hair.
‘Are you sure?’ she asks. ‘I don’t want to leave you alone with this tedious work.’
‘Absolutely,’ Namaari reassures her with a smile. ‘Go and have fun, and I’ll join you later.’
‘Great, I’ll go find someone to spar with for a while,’ Raya jumps up enthusiastically. ‘And if you haven’t reappeared in two hours from now, I’m going to come back and drag you outside. You need a break yourself too.’
She rounds the desk, grabbing Namaari’s face with both her hands, and kisses her deeply for a moment. Then she flees out the door with a backwards wave, Namaari watching her retreating figure with a smile.
Namaari throws herself into the paperwork with more vigour, determined to get it done so she can join Raya. She doesn’t even notice the two hours passing, so wrapped up in reading policy articles on fishing.
Raya never shows.
-
Virana comes to sit with her when the hour is nearing midnight, her arm resting around Namaari’s shoulders as they wait in silence.
‘I sent word to Chief Benja,’ she says softly after a while. Namaari nods, but says nothing else. Benja has trusted them – trusted her – to keep Raya safe during her visits to Fang. And yet here they are, Namaari without a scratch on her, whilst Raya fights for her life in the darkness. Would he ever be able to forgive them, if Raya dies? Would it cause a war between their lands?
Would Namaari ever be able to forgive herself?
‘I wasn’t even there to protect her, Ma,’ she chokes, unable to keep the tears from leaking out. The guilt is suffocating.
-
‘Raya?’ she calls, walking briskly through the palace. Dusk is beginning to move in; she feels bad for working so long without realising where the time went. Clearly, Raya also got distracted by her activities. Often when one (or better, both) of them are sparring, it draws a crowd of eager onlookers, so perhaps tonight Raya has decided to teach a lesson to anyone who wants to challenge her fighting abilities.
However, it’s been long enough that she’s also slightly concerned, especially when she sees most of the usual sparring partner culprits back in the palace, doing their guard duties or otherwise.
Still, her best assumption is that Raya will still be at the training grounds, so she hurries outside and makes her way over to the large open area.
‘Raya?’ she calls again, not seeing anyone moving in the evening light. It seems quiet…too quiet.
And then she sees a shape on the ground.
‘Raya, what-?’ she cries, racing forwards and dropping to her knees. Raya is lying still and pale on the ground, and it takes a moment for Namaari to realize the earth surrounding her is stained dark red from blood.
‘Raya…Raya, wake up,’ she pleads, one shaking hand sliding under Raya’s shoulders and cradling her close to her body, the other pressing down hard on the stab wound in her abdomen. The blood seeps through her fingers, trickling down her wrist as she desperately tries to stop it.
‘Somebody help!’ she screams into the night.
-
Ma leaves her at some point in the early hours of the morning, kissing her forehead before heading off to sleep. She doesn’t even try to ask Namaari to get some rest, knows that she won’t. Not tonight.
Not long after, there is a soft knock at the door, and General Atitaya peers into the room.
‘Princess Namaari?’ she asks quietly. ‘I can relieve you of your post if you wish to retire for the night. Keep watch over her, for you?’
It’s a wasted offer, and Namaari is already shaking her head before the other woman finishes speaking.
‘No thank you,’ she says, her eyes never leaving Raya’s face. ‘Her attacker is still out there, and I’m not going to leave her until they are apprehended.’
Besides Raya’s injuries, that is the worst part of this attack – that it must have been carried out by a Fang citizen, who has now willingly betrayed both their land and, on a more personal level, Namaari herself. She has dedicated her life to protecting her people, and the realization that one of her own could have done this leaves a bitter taste in her mouth, and anger in her veins.
Namaari doesn’t even notice Atitaya leave. Her two swords sit close, ready to reach in an instant if someone dares to try and attack Raya again, and she leans forwards, tension running through her muscles as she continues her vigil.
The rest of the night is quiet, with no-one else disturbing them besides the doctor, who checks on Raya sporadically.
And then, just as the warm rays of the sun begin to filter through the window, Namaari hears a sound.
‘Raya?’ she calls, up on her feet instantly and leaning over the bed.
Raya shifts her head slightly, emitting a slight groan, and then her eyes flutter open.
-
‘Maari, come back to bed,’ Raya grumbles, her voice filled with the scratchy tone Namaari only hears in the morning. She laughs softly at the sight before her: Raya’s disgruntled face peering out from beneath the covers, her hair in a massively tangled mess around her face, and her mouth turned down slightly in the corners as she sees Namaari already up and dressed.
‘I have a lot of work to do today,’ Namaari says apologetically, although she does take a moment to bend down and give Raya a proper kiss good morning. ‘Hours of paperwork that you’ll just find boring.’
Raya wrinkles her nose at this, and burrows deeper into the bed, dragging Namaari down with her, a tight grasp on her wrist.
‘Tell you what,’ Namaari continues, attempting not to faceplant into the bedcovers thanks to Raya’s pulling. ‘If you let me go now, I’ll try to get the work done as quickly as possible, and then we can go spar together this afternoon.’
‘Fiiine,’ comes Raya’s voice from the depths of the bed. ‘Go do your boring work. I’ll bring food and my own amazing company later. And after, you owe me a fight.’
-
She finds her in the barn, tying a heavily-laden bag to her serlot.
‘Atitaya,’ she calls, and the General spins around quickly, hand moving towards her weapon before she sees who it is and deliberately relaxes her stance.
‘Princess,’ she greets, head bowing in the appropriate manner.
‘You’ll be pleased to hear that Raya has woken up,’ Namaari continues, her voice deceptively light in comparison to the blood roaring through her veins. ‘Interestingly, she’s also able to identify her attacker.’
They stare at each other for a moment, neither willing to be the first one to flinch. Then Atitaya drops her gaze to the ground, and although Namaari had believe Raya instantly when she said the name, the confirmation still hits her like a stab to the heart.
‘Ati…Ati, why?’ she whispers, and this time she can’t help her voice shaking as she tries to hold back the horror and the tears. ‘We grew up together. I trusted you with my life – with HER life. How could you betray me like this?’
Atitaya’s expression darkens at this, and Namaari sees her mouth twist into an ugly grimace.
‘Because you betrayed us first, Namaari,’ she snaps, fists clenching. ‘You bring the Princess of our enemy into our land, into our palace. You trust her with all of Fang, share all our secrets. She is your greatest vulnerability, a threat to our people, and if I did nothing, I thought she would bring death to our doorstep.’
‘Raya isn’t a threat to us,’ Namaari counters. ‘She isn’t a spy; Heart isn’t our enemy. We aren’t at war any more, Atitaya. We haven’t been for a long time. The only person who risked changing that was you.’
Atitaya raises her chin in defiance.
‘I did what I thought was right for our people, no matter the sacrifice. Just like you used to be willing to do.’
Namaari always thought her anger ran hot, a passionate burst of emotion that drove her in fights. But in reality, her rage runs through her body like a chill, and her mind feels separate from her body as a deadly calm settles over her.
‘I should kill you where you stand,’ she says softly. ‘If Raya had died, we wouldn’t even be having this conversation.’
For the first time, apprehension flutters across Atitaya’s face.
‘You’re lucky that Raya is more forgiving than I am,’ Namaari finishes, and then whistles loudly. At once, the barn is filled with soldiers, all training their weapons on their former General.
Namaari turns and walks away, refusing to look over her shoulder as voices ordering Atitaya to surrender filter up around her.
She doesn’t want to waste another minute here – she has Raya waiting for her, and she’s promised to entertain her through her mandatory bed rest, duties be damned. After all, Raya doesn’t like to be still for too long.

Devotional Acts For My Deities 9/24/21
Apollo
Took a shower
Did my laundry
Took out my garage
Did my #research
Practiced with my 🅱️ass
Worked on a lab report...and kind of enjoyed it 👀
Hermes
Got over my nerves to message some peeps
Got my 10,000 steps
Looked up the word of the day
Watched some funny videos
Dionysus
Hung out with a friend
Filtered my first batch of crystals!
Shared some of my soda
Messaged those peeps to make plans for tomorrow
Ares
Since I have plans now, I needed to get some home work done today. I am procrastination 🤣 But I powered through and got it dooone and it feels so good!
Listened/sang to some music to make myself feel better
Deleted my comic on Webtoon because I don't like how I portrayed Ares. Now I know, I was very wrong 😅
I feel a little overwhelmed having so many deities around. It's hard hard focus on so many at a time. I really didn't want do add another one, but Ares has been around for a little bit and seems to be the next fella I'm working with 🤷♀️ I'll definitely be needing his help tomorrow because I'm seeing my ex (possibly 2? AH) for the first time in over a year 👀 I'm planning on doing some meditating before I go 👀👀👀
Photos
I filtered out my first batch of crystals! Only the two 4-Nitros have crystalized, so there's more more come...hopefully! The first picture is definitely more crystally. The second one is more of a powder. But look at thaaat, they're both PURPLE! I thought they'd turn out blue! I hope Dionysus likes them 😁
The batch I worked on today hella failed...my stuff didn't dissolve at all, so no reaction happened. That's because I was doing the reaction in water...which is what I did last time when it didn't work. I'll have to start over and dissolve them in ethanol. I had a feeling that would happen, but prof told me to do it in water. Oh well 🤷♀️ I got to leave early which was nice because I got a lot of stuff done at my dorm.
The word of the day brought to you by dictionary.com
Lol, butte is such a funny sounding word 🤣

Hi! Could you write a one shot where Hawks takes out his secretary, whom he has a massive crush on, out to a fancy dinner? They think it’s all for business but later it’s revealed Hawks took them out on a date. Pls and thank you!
(AN: I’m SO SORRY this took so long! I had it started for a while but my brain was radio static TuT But it’s dooone, hope you enjoy and thank you for the request!)
"Come oooon, (F/n), don't make me beg~" Hawks already is begging, and (F/n) sighs as she fixes the papers on her desk. For the last week now this birdbrain has bothered her every day to go to this new restaurant with him. They supposedly have incredible food, especially their chicken and seafood, and for some reason she was his choice to take there.
Being the secretary of the no. 2 hero, for the most part, is fine. She comes to work, gets the jobs she has done, then goes home. At least at first, but working for him for a few months now there's definitely been a shift; he's more attentive when it comes to her, even if it's a typically boring discussion about a job he did, his eyes never leave her and he's always got the grin on his handsome face. He also seems to listen more, like when she told him to pay more attention to his own health in a fight last week he's had fewer injuries they'd need to take care of. Which means less stress for her.
If she didn't know any better she'd assume he has a crush on her, but that's a silly thought right? She's just looking too into it.
"Takami-san, I've told you more than once I'm not going. Why don't you ask one of your sidekicks?" She asks, turning to face him.
"Cause I asked you, that's why," he pouts slightly, before continuing,"C'mon, it'll be fun, I'll pay for everything! I wanna take you out, pleeease?"
"Why are you so persistant?" she asks the younger hero, pinching the bridge of her nose.
"Cause I like you," he grins, (F/n) jolting and looking at him in surprise. No, no why is she getting so shocked over hearing that? There's no hidden meaning behind it! Shaking her head she finishes tidying up her desk and goes to pass him when his arm is suddenly blocking her way. He's leaning against the wall, palm pressed against it, and throwing the puppy dog eyes her way. "Please, (F/n)?"
She narrows her eyes, ready to throw out another 'no', but sighs,"Fine, fine, I'll go."
He smiles brightly and holds up two thumbs up, saying,"I knew you'd give in eventually! You're off Saturday, right? I'll swoop on over to your house and pick you up around 6 or 7, is that good for you?"
She nods, and it's set, the woman watching him go before she leaves the agency. 'Why did I agree?? Damn him and those puppy dog eyes! This kid is going to be the death of me.' she thinks while rubbing her neck, pulling out her phone and putting it into her calendar.
[X][X][X]
Saturday comes and (F/n) dresses up in nice, formal clothes. She puts on some makeup, does her hair, and checks herself in the mirror; does she look too done up for this? After all, it is just dinner with Hawks.
'He'll probably tease me or something about looking so nice while he's in his hero outfit or something casual,' she thinks, debating on changing or not. But she doesn't get the chance to decide when a knock comes at her front door and she hurries to it. Opening it she's surprised to find Hawks here already, as well as carrying a rose and actually looking... nice! She nearly rubs her eyes to make sure she isn't seeing things. He's in a loose fitting suit that he pulls off really well, his hair looks a little more styled, and he looks like he's blushing lightly looking her over.
"Wow, (F/n), I was coming ready to get you to change but you look nice," he smiles. He hands her the flower and she thanks him taking it, walking inside letting him come in as she goes to find a vase or cup to put water into for the plant.
"I think I'm even more shocked, Takami-kun," she replies, coming back after getting the rose in water. "You look very handsome though."
He grins while his cheeks turn redder, scratching the back of his head, saying,"Awww, really?? You always know what to say, (F/n).~" Checking the time he asks,"So, ya ready then?"
"Sure," she replies leaving her apartment with him before locking the door. She looks around below in the parking lot but doesn't see any unfamiliar or new cars, so she asks,"Uh, where's your-"
"Oh we're not driving," he answers before she's suddenly lifted into his arms,"I thought you'd prefer to see the sights so we're taking to the skies.~"
"W-Wait what??" she asks with wide eyes; her arms wrap tight around his neck as his wings unfurl and they take a large leap into the air. She goes to scream burying her face in his jacket, but goes quiet when wind starts whipping at her arms and hair. Peeking she's shocked to find they're already quite high above the buildings, the growing night giving them more cover as they fly. He's not zooming around, fortunately, he seems to be taking it slow probably so she doesn't panic, and his arms have a tight hold under her back and knees so she feels more secure. She's still terrified but is slowly calming down admiring all the lights below as well as the parks they soar over. He grins seeing the entranced gaze she has and asks,"Never seen anything like it, huh?"
"No, it's... It's beautiful," she replies, smiling herself. It's odd what's going on, but she won't complain.
"Yeah, sure is," he sighs, his eyes lingering on her before he focuses ahead of them as they get close to the restaurant.
He starts to glide down until reaching the sidewalk and landing on both feet his wings close and he places (F/n) back on her own legs. She holds onto his shoulder for a moment, her limbs feeling like jelly, before shaking off the feeling and letting him go before looking at the place. It's really nice on the outside, and she can smell the food from out here, it smells delicious! She looked up reviews before coming, all positive about the atmosphere and delicacies... Is he really okay bringing her to a place like this? This is more of a place couples come to right?
Shrugging that off she follows Hawks to the entrance double doors and stops when he opens the door and says in a charming way,"Ladies first.~"
Rolling her eyes she smiles and replies,"Thank you." before walking in. It certainly is exquisite, definitely not a place she could afford on her own. She actually turns to the bird hero and asks,"Takami, are you sure about this? I don't know if I can afford it."
He gives her a puzzled look before waving her off. "Don't worry, (F/n), I'm paying for everything."
She wants to tell him that that wouldn't be appropriate but already a welcomer comes up to the duo and whisks them off to a table before she can get a word in. It's an especially nice looking set up too, and as they pass by seated patrons she takes note of their appearances; from the pricey looking outfits to the jewelery that twinkles under the lights she feels slightly out of place.
Sitting across from her boss the secretary can't stop looking over everything, and he laughs at how almost childlike it is.
"If I knew you'd be reacting this cute I'd have taken you somewhere like this sooner," he grins and she turns back to him with pink cheeks. "Although this time I wasn't rejected, meaning I could finally see it.~"
"T-Takami," she mumbles, pushing some (hair color) locks behind her ear while willing away the growing blush on her cheeks. "Are you sure this is okay? I mean, I couldn't possibly ask you to-"
He holds a hand up and presses a finger to his lips, her mouth closing while he retorts,"I already planned this out, (F/n), I couldn't possibly expect you to pay, right? That wouldn't be very gentlemanly." He smiles sweetly at her and she feels her heart thump louder in her chest. Clearing her throat she nods, opening the menu... And nearly leaving the moment she saw the prices. The only thing stopping her is his wing and him assuring her it's fine.
[X][X][X]
After the two order they get to talking, a lot of it being Hawks asking her about more personal things like her hobbies, what she does after work, does she like this or this, and (F/n) answers truthfully although she thinks,'I don't quite get what's going on, I thought this was just going to be for business mostly but it feels more personal...' Their hands have brushed more than once and he keeps complimenting her making her flustered.
Taking a sip of her water she changes the subject and asks,"So, are you alright after that fight the other day? Your wings look much better."
"We handled it just fine, did you have your doubts?" he teases.
"I just worry for you, Takami, I care about you," she honestly answers. He's a little surprised hearing this and he feels his cheeks turning warm as he brings up a hand to try to hide it. She cocks a brow, asking,"Are you okay, Takami?"
"Me? Yeah, I'm fine," he tries to play it off but this woman... She always seems to make him weak like this.
Originally he hired her because she seemed to know what she was doing and has done her job well every step of the way, but over the months they've been working together he started to notice small things like the way she bites her pen when stumped on work, or will nibble her lip when thinking. Slowly he started noticing more and more things, and before he knew it he realized he grew feelings. Even tonight she looks adorable! And he finally managed to score a date with her, so he wanted to make it all special.
She gives him a soft smile and says,"Alright, well anyways, I'll always have faith in you, Takami, even if I worry and scold you."
He returns the smile and decides to say,"You know, you don't have to call me Takami."
She looks confused now, and he continues,"Just call me Keigo." She blinks in slight surprise; that's odd to say. After all, 'Keigo' would be rather personal right??
"Um... I suppose, but would that be okay, I mean-"
She can't finish as their food is brought and Hawks' eyes light up with anticipation as his dish of chicken is placed in front of him. (F/n) also almost starts drooling at the smells alone. She takes a bite, and melts right away. No wonder this place is so well received! Looking at the hero in front of her he's already started eating, the sight of him looking so happy causing her to giggle at the faces he's making. His golden eyes move to look at her as he stops, and she laughs,"Sorry, sorry, you're acting really... It's cute!"
His face erupts in red at this and he lifts some of the chicken on a fork up to her mouth. She calms down and eyes the food puzzled.
"Here, try, it's pretty good," he grins and now it's her turn to go red in the face. He's feeding it to her?? It's such a simple gesture but her racing heart won't shut up! She also realizes he's taken a bite from it...
"N-No, I'm fine," she tries to tell him, holding up her hands and waving them in front of her.
"Aww, c'mon, (F/n), it's not going to bite," he teases playfully, and she swallows looking at the fork. Everything about this is way too strange, although this whole night has had a series of odd moments. Biting her lip she decides to do it, leaning forward and biting into it. It's really good, but she's having trouble focusing on the food when he finishes it off. Swallowing it down she keeps eating but has trouble focusing.
It goes quiet between the duo and Hawks catches on pretty quickly as his eyes lift to find her staring at her plate, lost in thought with furrowed brows. He stops and asks,"Uh, (F/n), you okay?" When she doesn't answer he lifts a hand to wave in front of her face and says,"Earth to (F/n), hello? You still with me?"
"Takami, if it isn't too strange to ask, why did you want to bring me here?"
Hawks freezes, appearing puzzled and pulling his hand back.
"What do you mean? Isn't it obvious?" he asks tilting his head, to which her response is a shake of the head. Wait is she being serious here? "Really? I thought it was pretty out in the open but do I gotta say it?"
"Yes, because truthfully I've been confused, isn't this just a sort of business dinner or something?" she asks with an (adorably) confused expression.
He on the other hand stares at her in an almost incredulous way. This... Cute, blind idiot.
"(F/n), I was taking you on a date," he finally answers. (F/n) goes wide eyed once she realizes what he said. 'A d-date?! I-Is that even appropriate?!' Technically yes, there's no laws saying they can't date each other, but... "That's why I got the flowers and got all dressed up, I was trying to make a good impression."
"B-But wait, why?! How long have you...??" she asks in a flustered way, her face red.
He scratches the back of his head while he replies,"Liked you? I'd say 2 months, maybe? I thought I was being pretty obvious, I wasn't being subtle with my flirting, (F/n)." Seeing how shocked she is, how much her blush has grown, he teases,"See, how can I not go for you when you're acting so adorable?~"
Her heart won't let up and she hides her face in her hands, groaning,"I had no idea... Hawks, why tell me now?..." Her reaction causes his smile to lower and he rubs his neck.
"Is this too uncomfortable?" He asks, which causes her to lift her head to look at him; his expression is a dejected one as he averts his eyes, his smile now more sad as he chuckles,"Maybe I flew too close to the sun, right? I was hoping I'd finally win you over with this but maybe I was expecting too much, huh?" He meets her eyes finally and finishes,"Sorry, (F/n). If you want I'll take you home."
She's silent staring at the hero, unable to find the words. The look he has her pounding heart starts to ache; sure she's shocked by this, but she wouldn't say she's uncomfortable, this was just unexpected. He did seem to pull out the stops, too, and hearing him sound so sad fills a guilty hole in her gut. She's noticed the flirting, she's noticed his watching her more often than before, she just never put the pieces together until hearing it from his own mouth. If she'd known this was a date...
After taking a few moments to think it all over she shakes her head, and responds,"No, Takami, it's okay, really! I'm not uncomfortable being here, to be honest you've been quite the gentleman." She smiles and his cheeks turn pink. "I'm more just really surprised, but... I suppose finishing this date won't hurt, especially now knowing that's what it is."
He eyes her, asking,"Are you sure?" She gives him a warm look and he slowly smiles back.
"Well if you're okay then let's eat.~"
[X][X][X]
The dinner ends and the two leave full and content. After they walk out (F/n) is swept off her feet again and looping her arms around the bird hero's neck she holds tight, still not used to flying.
"Wouldn't it be easier to just drive??" She asks as they drift through the air.
"And miss the best part of the night? Just hold onto me, I won't let you fall," he assures the nervous secretary. She nods and does just that, her arms holding a lock on him while her eyes glide over all the lights below. She's so lost in the sights she misses them heading towards a tall building's roof until they land and he sets her on her feet. He keeps a hold on her as she gains her own footing, and when (F/n) looks ahead she's mesmerized by the sights. Hawks smiles seeing the way her (eye color) orbs light up and still not moving his hand off her side he asks,"Pretty, right? That's one thing I love about being able to fly, at night I get a front row seat to see things like this."
"It must be nice," she replies with a grin, before realizing his hand is still on her. She's still slightly worried about going into this type of relationship with him, after all he's her boss, but over dinner she'd been thinking it over, and she made her decision. "Keigo."
He looks at her in surprise and she smiles warmly and says,"Thank you for tonight. I'm a bit hesitant, I'll admit, to start a relationship but... If it's you I suppose I can make an exception.~"
Hawks is even more taken back, his eyes widening and for once he's speechless, before he grows a happy grin and he asks,"So there's a possibility to make you Mrs. Takami, too, right?~"
"Wait what-" she asks with shock but she's silenced when he suddenly kisses her. It's a short, sweet, yet still deep kiss and she almost melts into it before he pulls back. His smile becomes more charming and he chuckles,"Just kidding, for now we'll just be two turtle doves, but I'll get you to say yes one day, just wait.~"
Her face is red and hot and she sighs, pinching the bridge of her nose before she looks at him with a smile of her own and replies,"We'll see what happens, Keigo.~"
"I'm not hearing a no," he practically coos and shaking her head she pulls hims close and pecks his lips.
"We'll see, birdbrain.~"

Heart-Drop
@shutupreno
((Final Fantasy 7 Remake spoilers under Read More))
Heart beats. He can hear his own louder than the roaring chopper wings. Feeling its rapid beats more clearly than his trembling limbs.
The mission is accomplished, that's all that matters. Reno is alive, and that matters too.
Then why can't Rude stop shaking? Perhaps for the same reason why he won't let go of his unconscious partner, why he won't let anyone near them.
Reno.
Numbly, Rude casts a heal for the man in his arms.
Words, loud and powerful, echoes in his throbbing head. 'WHAT HAVE YOU DOOONE!'
There's no playing innocent. They knew what they were sent out to do, and what it meant to have it done.
But what now? How can one live after this? Rude wasn't supposed to know. It hadn't been his assignment.
It was done. No point in dwelling.
The mission is accomplished, that's what matters. Reno is alive, and that matters.
His vision is clouded. Only seeing the blazes of destruction, and fresh wounds closing on pale skin.
Heart beats and his body won't stop trembling. He is cold. His chest feels tight and he's only vaguely aware that he's struggling to breath evenly. Breathing too fast.
The mission is accomplished... Reno is alive, and that’s central.

thoughts on elite season 2
- idk why but i found this season more engaging than the first which i only watched fragments of because i couldn’t be arsed to care about certain plotlines, but season 2 made me care about almost everyone? well, almost. but it was far more compelling anyway.
-lucrecia/lu is turning out to be a Problematic Fave. she’s probably one of the more complex characters on the show. despite how wretched she can be, i like how deeply she wants to be “seen” and understood and i def felt bad for her about guzman (oh, and we’ll get to him, ugh). her back and forth with valerio was both compelling and a little frustrating (valerio himself was both compelling and frustrating). i don’t think the writers put that much thought into it, but i liked the undercurrent of sadness in their bond which was far more interesting than the forbidden aspect (but yea ok, that was also hot, yall know me lol). the actors sold it pretty well. and that oscar wilde quote <3 incidentally, valerio reminds me of a romanian actor/singer who also starred in an incest-based drama awhile back. but i have to say, one thing that really jumped out at me is how much of a secret gay lucrecia is. she has so much gay energy with almost every girl she comes up against, rebeca and nadia especially, it’s insane. every time she interacts with one of the dudes it’s so weak (except with valerio, but that dynamic is not so straightforward). whenever i see her sexy-whispering to some guy it feels like she’s faking it, like she’s being a vindictive but ultimately domesticated doll. and i think she knows this too and the performance wears her down. whereas she seems to come alive with women. her obsession with being betrayed and ignored and unloved by men might also stem from the fact that no man can ever give her what she truly wants. she’s def closeted imo, and her lil friendship with omar makes so much sense in that context too. petition to give lu a gilfriend in season 3, preferably rebeca.
- rebeca, however, is the true MVP of the season for me. omg. i love!!! her!!! so!!! much!!! i was SO MAD everyone slept on this grl!!! she’s funny and smart and brash and loyal and sweet and justasdfgdfsda NO ONE DESERVES HER. i also think her chemistry with lu should be explored further. (i wanna write fic where rebeca and lu make out at the halloween party after lu gets dumped)
- polo is also a Problematic Fave, even though i hope he goes down lol. i really like how the actor plays him as both volatile and fragile, like a stubborn asshole but also a sniveling brat who wants to be “redeemed” on his own terms.
- i can’t say i cared all that much about cayetana and her “maria del bario” subplot, i mean i didn’t feel all that sorry for her, but i do like the sharp edges given to her character. and while polo/cayetana is not that interesting to me, their bonnie and clyde shenanigans promise to be a lot of fun. it makes a lot of sense that she would be the one to help him, not only because of his kindness to her, but primarily because she likes taking things. literally. she seems desperately hungry for whatever polo can offer.
- omar/ander was sweet as always, and i liked their ups and downs and their more emotional moments, but good god was ander a petty asshole. when omar dressed up as dr. frank-n-furter and ander was being a tool about it and the others were shaming him for, u know, having a cool costume for halloween, i was like “omar, bby, you gotta stop hanging out with uncultured swine”. that being said, ander keeping polo’s secret for so long beggared belief. i understand the impossible scenario he was in and i like that they showed the inner turmoil but...yikes, it’s murder, dude.
- samuel/carla was...fine. i liked some of their more intense scenes, feeding off each other’s anger, plus the manipulations and the mindfuckery, but it was still lacking in substance for me. i also think carla becomes less interesting around him, whereas samuel has sort of grown up this season. idk, i’m ambivalent.
and finally...
- nadia & guzman. SIGHHHHhhhhhhhhh. the couple & characters i was most looking forward to ended up being the most disappointing part of this season for me. i kind of hate them now. okay, maybe not hate them, but i am deeply annoyed. i think nadia was poorly written this season. i have no clue who this girl is, what she really wants, what she believes in. she was made to react in a certain way or do things just to carry the plot forward or to give the viewers some steamy scenes. literally, i was so frustrated with her and the lack of internal logic. even her confession to her parents at the end and their heartfelt hug felt hollow and unearned. and guzman, oh gaaaawwwwd, this douchebag and his constant edgy angst, i get iiiiiit, we get iiiiit, i just wanted him to be dooone. i really disliked him, even when they were framing him as troubled romantic hero. the nadia/guzman scenes were absolutely rushed, i’m sorry. their first kiss??? while nadia was super drunk and we get that weird disco editing that hides both their faces and it’s so fake-artsy and devoid of feeling and underwhelming??? NOPE. i thought this would be a big deal for nadia, for both of them actually, but when i saw how quickly they rushed into it i was disappointed. most of their interactions lacked that special intimacy they had in season 1. like yeah, the chemistry was there, but the angst felt manufactured, cuz i guess both he and nadia have no problem cheating and doing whatever the hell they want. i also found it laughable that not even 15 minutes into the first episode guzman immediately tells her about the deal he made with her father...which cheapened the whole thing. i really thought that deal would carry weight and mean something....welp, guess not. all the interesting and significant obstacles they built around these characters were now revealed as a deck of playing cards. when halfway thru the season guzman lamented how he couldn’t be with nadia due to societal constraints i laughed out loud because clearly, that’s a surface problem for them. nadia does not seem at all attached to her faith and culture, so really, what’s to stop them from being together? her family? i don’t buy it. and my problem isn’t that nadia wants to break away from her muslim heritage and be with guzman; my problem is that we don’t know what the hell she wants and it doesn’t seem to matter. once upon a time i thought she cared a lot about her schoolwork and future career...but that seems to take a backseat for the guzman drama. halfway thru the season she doesn’t hang out with rebeca and omar anymore, and it’s just...disheartening to see her be all about this really mediocre dude. not even her budding friendship with valerio goes anywhere, which was a shame. others have talked about the troubling narrative of “westernizing” nadia and portraying it as the solution to her problems and while i think the show isn’t ready to push that agenda, i also feel like they have no fucking clue who this character is. anyway, i will stop here, but i’m genuinely disappointed and idk if this can be remedied in season 3.
so overall, i enjoyed this season more, but boyyy did it disappoint where i was most expectant

Act 2 - Contest Winner (or Loser?)
[PoV: Jezebel]
After downing my next shot of rum, I set the small glass back down onto the bar counter - right next to ten other glasses.
Even though that’s a LOT of extremely potent alcohol I’ve consumed within such a short amount of time, the most that I’m feeling is a strong burning in my stomach - as well as a similar feeling on my face. I’m probably blushing really hard from the rum. Thankfully, my fur is there to conceal it.
Elizabeth on the other hand? She’s barely able to sit straight in her seat, she’s currently wobbling all over the place. The only thing keeping her upright is her free hand having a vice-grip on the counter, her other hand holding her eleventh shot glass of rum - said liquid spilling from the uncoordinated movements of her arm.
Honestly? I’m actually very impressed that Elizabeth managed to last this long. Part of the reason why I’m very good at holding my own alcohol is because I’m a Fire-type, so the heat within me helps burn some of the alcohol before it enters my system. That and paired up with a liver of pure steel? I can keep drinking this stuff all throughout the night.
Elizabeth? She’s smaller than I am, so I guess the only thing that’s keeping her going is the fact that she’s used to drinking this much.
“I cannnn keep doooooing tees all...n...” The Lopunny slurs, her expression being that of a goofy smile. She didn’t finish the sentence though, since she practically chucks the rum into her mouth. She smacks her mouth, her tongue lolling out. “Seeeeee...? Steell...going....!”
The bartender gives her a concerned look before looking back at me, obviously rather hesitant on giving us another round of shots.
I roll my eyes before looking at him with a smirk. “Just one more shot for the both of us.” I tell him.
I have a feeling that this’ll be the straw that breaks the Camprupt’s back, since Elizabeth is barely holding on as it is.
He slowly nods his head and grabs two more shot glasses and fills them with the crystal clear yet extremely strong alcohol. He sets them down in front of me and the Lopunny before taking a step back and watching us at our ‘game’.
I grab my glass and look at Elizabeth, raising an eyebrow at her. “Number twelve.” I say before immediately downing it, the burning sensation being the same as the previous eleven.
Elizabeth immediately goes to grab her drink, but in her attempt to do so she immediately starts falling off her stool. I quickly extend an arm and catch her, preventing her from having a rather rough embrace with the wooden floor.
“Noooooo...” She whines. “I can...do eeeeeeeet!” She tries to sit up, yet even with my assistance she can’t get herself fully back onto her stool.
“I’d say that it’s over, Elizabeth.” I say to her,. my smirk widening.
Honestly? Even though I’ve won, it didn’t really feel as satisfying because of how effortless it was. Yeah I get to have her ‘do anything I want’ for an hour since that was the wager that was made, but if anything I don’t have much interest in that.
If anything? Teaching Elizabeth a lesson was the biggest motivator for me since she really needed to not go off the deep end. Right now? Obviously she’s way too drunk to realize her mistake, but at least I get to feel rather smug.
“Nononooooo!” She continues to complain. “I...ammmm...not dooone. Tere ees...steell...” At this point she’s really falling over, in which I now have to use both hands to keep her from stumbling off her stool like a ragdoll.
“It’s over, Elizabeth.” I repeat, trying contain a chuckle. When she doesn’t respond to this I instead give her a stern look, in which she somehow manages to meet with her own gaze before slumping.
“Fiiiine...” She sighs, her cheeks a deep shade of purple from the booze.
With a bit of effort I manage to pull her off her feet and get her to lean against the counter, in which I turn back to face the bartender.
Said individual is looking at the massive spread of empty shot-glasses with a look of immense respect. “Sheesh, ladies.” He exclaims with a shake of his head, chuckling. “You two hold your liquor far better than anyone I’ve ever met.”
I couldn’t help but give my own chuckle, smiling to myself. “We’re not any simple ladies, after all.”
He whistles. “No kidding. If you members of the Guardians of Twilight all have similar alcohol tolerance, this place will be out of drinks in a night if at least twenty of you were to visit at once.”
I fumble with my dress before pulling out my wallet, and after sifting through it I pull out a sizable amount of money that should pay for all of the alcohol - and provide an impressive tip. I set it down on the counter before giving him a nod of thanks.
The bartender grins and takes the money. “Much obliged.” He says before looking at Elizabeth. “Need help, or-?”
I shake my head, still chuckling. “No need, I will take her back.”
I stand up from my stool - the action causes my body to lose its balance slightly.
Hmm, perhaps the alcohol has more of an effect on me than I thought. That’d also explain why I’m also more loose with my emotions. Guess it really has been a while since I last drank...
Grabbing my staff that’s leaning against the counter, I clasp Elizabeth’s arm and pull her to my form.
“Lean on me.” I tell her. “I’ll support you as we head back to the guild HQ.”
She doesn’t respond - verbally at least, and together we slowly begin to make our way out of the club.
The moment we step outside I immediately feel myself get blasted with fresh air, the strong scent of sweat disappearing with the midnight breeze. The city itself is also relatively quieter compared to the club, so my ears feel very thankful as well.
As the two of us slowly make our way back, Elizabeth starts talking again.
“Nooo...” She whines once more. “I...do not waaant...to beee....your slaaaaave!”
The last word causes my body to freeze, the action making Elizabeth stumble forward before falling - and with her grip on her body, she ends up taking her with me.
The two of us fall flat onto the sidewalk, my staff releasing from my grip and clattering the ground. At this point my face is so flushed that people would probably actually see a noticeable shade of pink on my cheeks - despite the dark fur covering them.
“E-Elizabeth!” I shout indignantly. “Not in public!” I blink before immediately following up with: “And forget about the wager, I have no interest in-”
“Buuut eet was a beeeet!” The Lopunny retorts in her drunken stupor. “I ‘ave to do eeeeeeet!”
I grit my teeth. “Elizabeth-” I start to say, but she cuts me off again.
“What weell you ‘ave me...doooo?” She continues her drunken tirade. “Weell you ‘ave me...streep een publeec? Weell you ‘ave meeeee....chained to a bed so youuuu-”
I don’t even let her finish that sentence. “NONE OF THAT!” I shout frantically, my face full on burning now.
At this point we definitely have a lot of onlookers now. Gritting my teeth harder I get back to my feet and grab my staff, and once I have my balance I pull Elizabeth back to her feet.
“Not another word!” I hiss at her. “Let us get back, no more of this nonsense!!”
She looks at me with confusion. “Buuut thee wag-”
“No!” I growl at her. “No no no! No wager! Just stop talking!”
And so we continued the long trek back to the GoT HQ.
...
Where did she get THAT assumption?!
---------------
Much to my chagrin, the journey back did not go smoothly at all. Elizabeth continued to go on and on about the ‘wager’, shouting and whining about all sorts of obscenities she thinks I will do to her. Even with my best attempts I just...could not...get her...to shut up.
I have half the mind to burn her on the spot and be done with it. And the worst part is that if I drank any more alcohol? I probably would’ve actually done it due to the sheer embarrassment I’m feeling.
I swear, who the FUCK does she think I am? With all of the shit she’s saying, people would think I’m some extremely kinky freak!
At this point we’re navigating the hallways of the HQ, and thank Arceus because there’s barely any people walking around this time of night. The few who do walk by us have expressions of confusion - or worse, smirks.
As we’re navigating, a thought suddenly strikes me.
I have...no idea on where Elizabeth stays. Obviously asking her is out of the question, because of the fact she failed to listen to a SINGLE word I said ever since we left the club.
“Shit.” I say aloud, the uncharacteristic word causing a nearby passerby to flinch. I turn and glare at them, my green eyes blazing. “What are you fucking looking at? Keep moving!” I half-shout at them, causing them to start sprinting off - and nearly tripping while doing so.
“-aaand once you are done weet te strap-on...” Elizabeth continues with her tirade, in which I start cringing even harder.
“BY THE GODS AND GODDESSES ABOVE, ELIZABETH!” I shout at her in anger. “I AM NOT GOING TO DO ANYTHING SEXUAL TO YOU! STOP TALKING LIKE I’M ABOUT TO FUCK YOU!”
Okay, normally I would be complimented on having insane composure. How I am the pinnacle of professionalism.
Me right now? A combination of alcohol as well as massive doses of irritation and embarrassment is apparently enough to take said reputation and shatter it completely and utterly.
“Buuut te wag-” Elizabeth starts for the umpteenth time.
“Fuck the wager!” I growl at her, my teeth flaring.
Her eyes widen as her flushed face grows even more red.
It took me a moment to realize my poor choice of words. With an even louder growl I start dragging her stumbling form with me.
You know what? Fuck it. I am not navigating these hallways to find her room, especially since there are many potential witnesses. I’m taking her to my room so she can sleep this whole shit off, and MAYBE I still have a chance to salvage what little I have left of my dignity.
Of course Elizabeth continues to babble as we make our way as quickly as physically possible to my room. My ears are definitely flat against my head now, my jaw clenching so hard that it’s actually hurting.
As we finally take the last turn, I feel relief fill my body as the door to my room comes into view.
FINALLY! My salvation!
As I approach the room with Elizabeth in tow, I rest my staff against the wall as I start fumbling my dress for my room-key.
Elizabeth starts mumbling in a confused tone, her words lost to me. As she watches me pull out my key and put it into the slot in the door, her eyes widen to the point where I swear they’re going to pop up.
Oh no, you little shit. This is NOT what you’re thinking of.
“You are sleeping in my room till you’re back to your normal self.” I growl, doing my best to prevent her from saying a SINGLE word. “Nothing is happening in here except you getting rest. Got it?”
I don’t let her respond. As soon as the door opens, I stash my key, grab my staff, and drag her into the room.
Ignoring the scattered papers around my ‘humble abode’ from my duty as temporary Night Hunter Leader, I pull Elizabeth towards my bed and practically throw her at it. Her body stumbles before falling on top of it, her voice becoming muffled as her face is against the sheets.
With a sigh of relief I walk over to my study and sit down at the chair next to my desk. I rest my elbows onto the paper-covered wooden surface, using my hands to cradle my head.
It’s over, Jezebel. It’s over, no one will hear that dirty rabbit anymore. You’re safe.
You have a plan of action. You can tell everyone who overheard Elizabeth that she was in a drunken stupor, and that you were helping her to her room. If they ask about your outbursts, you can claim that they must be mistaking and it was Elizabeth who was acting in such a way. That or they misheard due to lack of sleep, since it was late at night after all.
I feel myself smile.
Yeah, it’ll all work out. Everything is good, your reputation is-
“I...am ready.” I hear Elizabeth meekly say from the direction of my bed.
My body tenses, my eyes widening.
I don’t dare look behind me to see what the hell she means exactly by that. Ohhhh no. No no no.
Hell. Fucking. No.
I cross my arms onto my desk and let my head flop onto them, and thus I begin to scream in exasperation.

Alright so since Hydra was all metal and concrete and harshness, now that Bucky is away from them when he sees things that are soft/silky/satin he has to touch it no matter what it is. Soft looking stuff animal? He's petting it. Silky looking shirt or tie? He's running his fingers down it. Even if people are wearing it at the time, he manages to restrain himself if it's people he doesn't know but people he does? Well, they've resigned themselves to more or less being molested.
* screams * oh my god, what have you dooone???? Now I'm just picturing Bucky trying so hard not to touch Tony who, let's face it, rich boy's got a thing for the finer things in life, it wouldn't be a stretch to find out that Tony has a thing for wearing silk, and oh my god, have you seen his hair?? ~ so soft ~ Bucky hasn't known suffering until this moment, and it's all your fault, Kat!

Trying out a 30 day OTP OT3 Challenge with any combination of the saioumota boys.
Day 4: On a date - saioumota
AO3
(Took a small break the other day, but we’re back at it with some anxiety about going out and changing things up last minute.)
Shuichi sat on the edge of the couch, jiggling his leg as he played with the buttons on his shirt. Somehow, even with all his meandering and slowness at pulling his clothes on and combing his hair, he’d still managed to be done before either of his boyfriends. Kaito he understood. The amount of gel that doubtless went into styling his hair couldn’t be a quick application. Maybe. He’d never actually used gel before, knowing that nothing would convince that one bit of his hair to lay flat.
Speaking of... He smoothed his hand over the top of his head. The ahoge bent beneath its weight, only to spring back up the moment it passed by. He sighed.
He didn’t know if he could do this...
Tapping his fingers against his thigh, Shuichi looked around the room restlessly for something to occupy his chattering mind. Nothing could distract him from his thoughts, though, especially not his faint reflection in the blank television screen. He looked awkward, and his ahoge out of place. People would stare, he knew it, and they’d think about what a weirdo he was when he strolled into some restaurant way too fancy for someone like him.
Or was he overdressed? Now staring at the reflection, he plucked at his collar and the buttons. Maybe he should unbutton one more? Would that look tacky or casual? Shuichi had no clue, maybe he should ask Kaito, but then he would probably say that he was just being silly.
Anxiety swirled in his chest, making him vaguely sick. He didn’t want to go out. He’d make a fool of himself, no doubt. Ghh...
“Aw man, Kaito’s not done yet?” Kokichi’s light-hearted whine brought Shuichi out of his thoughts. He glanced over to the other boy, with his hands tucked behind his head and a pout on his face. “I even took longer hoping he would be dooone by now, too.”
Shuichi gave him a once-over, at the clothes Kokichi had chosen. His shirt had a fake pocket on it, but he didn’t seem dressed any more or less than Shuichi was. He wished that Kaito had given him more details about how they should dress. Maybe this was still wrong. It helped that both he and Kokichi were similarly dressed, but even so...
“Hey Shuichi, are you checking me out?” Once again, Kokochi distracted him, a smile curling his lips. “Maybe you should save it for after the date, or we’re never going to get anywhere at all.”
“H-huh?” Shuichi’s face grew hot and he looked away quickly. That hadn’t been what he’d been thinking at all, but now the image had implanted itself in his mind. Great, perfect, just what he needed with the anxious whirl of thoughts already tumbling through it.
“Although... we could probably mess around and still be done before Kaito finishes getting ready.”
“Kokichi!”
“Not really though! I’m just messing with you. I spent alllll this time getting all ready and cute for you two, I don’t want to mess it up.” Kokichi grinned, and came to sit beside Shuichi on the couch, leaning into his side. “Annyyyyyway, you got ready really fast, Shuichi. As expected! You’re already good looking all the time, so you’re ready for a date way faster than us!”
“Geez...” Messing with him and then acting so sweet in the very next breath, Kokichi gave Shuichi whiplash sometimes. At least it helped distract him somewhat, but he still nervously drummed his fingers against his leg.
Some of the mirth faded from Kokichi’s expression. He tilted his head, gazing up at him thoughtfully. “Hey, Shuichi, are you alright?”
Shuichi nodded, taking a moment to steady his thoughts before he said, “Yeah, I’m just...” He shrugged. How could he explain that he was having second thoughts about going out? After Kokichi and Kaito were already spending so much time and effort on getting ready. “...it’s nothing, I’m just anxious to be going, you know?”
He gave Kokichi a smile that he knew was unconvincing. Kokichi blinked.
“You know we don’t have to go out if you don’t want to. I’m sure Kaito would understand,” he said.
Ah. Straight to the point. Shuichi averted his eyes.
“No no,” Shuichi said, not looking at him. “I do want to go! I’m just restless right now so... don’t worry about it, alright?”
He looked back at Kokichi, still leaning against his side, and gave what he hoped to be a reassuring smile. Kokichi’s face didn’t shift an inch, regarding him in silence. Dread settled into his stomach. There was no way Shuichi convinced him, and he could see it in that blank expression of his.
Neither of them said anything, until the silence was broken by Kaito emerging, tugging at his collar. “Alright, finally ready--you guys ready to go?”
Before Shuichi could respond, Kokichi flung himself across his lap, throwing an arm across his face. “I changed my mind. I don’t want to go out toniiiight!”
The sudden shift in behavior had Shuichi dumbfounded. He said nothing, staring down at the boy in his lap.
“What? Seriously?” Kaito said, furrowing his brows. Shuichi chanced a shy glance up, afraid to see anger there after all his anxiety over ruining the night. He looked more confused than upset, Kaito’s gaze Kokichi, who seemed genuinely distressed at the thought of going out when Shuichi knew the truth was far from it. “Why, what’s up?”
“I decided I’d rather stay in tonight! Going out sounds so boring right now.” Kokichi pulled his hand away from his face to pout up at Kaito.
Shuichi watched as the emotions flickered across Kaito’s expression--confusion, concern--before it finally settling on resignation. He rubbed the back of his head, before coming to join them on the couch. Kokichi scrambled to move out of the way as Kaito plopped himself right at Shuichi’s other side, nearly sitting on Kokichi’s head while he was still draped over Shuichi’s lap.
“Well I sort of wished you told me before I got ready but... if either of you don’t feel up to going, then there’s not really any point in going out, is there? It wouldn’t be much of a date if I forced ya,” Kaito said, and threw an arm around Shuichi’s shoulders. “Are you cool with it, Shuichi?”
He tried not to let the relief show in his face. “Yeah, that’s fine.”
“Let’s watch a movie and eat ice cream!” Kokichi chimed out, settling against Shuichi’s side again.
“We have to actually eat something for dinner first,” Kaito said.
“Yeah! Like ice cream!”
As the two bickered over what they’d be eating or not eating for their new house-date, Shuichi felt a grateful smile tugging at his lips, sandwiched in the warmth between both of his boyfriends. In retrospect, worrying about anything with these two by his side seemed silly.
“Hey we should take our clothes off!”
Shuichi and Kaito both sputtered at the innocent way Kokichi piped up with those words.
“So we can change into something more comfortable, of course. Geez, get your filthy minds out of the gutter.”
Of course that was what he meant.

Poison-Wielding Fugitive Chapter 1
Unngghhh…
As I tap away at the keyboard, programming to the specs of the project, a zombie-like groan escapes from my mouth. How many all-nighters in a row has it been already? They call it a death march, but this is beyond that.
A few days ago, a guy in the next section over jumped in front of a train. The memory is still fresh in my mind. Will it be me tomorrow? Today? The thought keeps crossing my mind. God damn it. And I thought slavery had already been abolished. Yet I’m basically a slave to this company. When we had a moment of silence for the guy who died, the president was even spouting bullshit like how the company wouldn’t be profitable if not for unpaid overtime. If the company is at that level already, unpaid overtime won’t suddenly make it viable! I hope you guys go bankrupt after I find a new job!
Why did I even choose this place… I’m at wit’s end already. My name is Kogure Yukihisa. I’m 26-years old and a productive member of society for over four years. I work as a software engineer at a sweatshop of a company. Well, I knew there were a lot of jobs like this from the start. But still, when I was being interviewed as a university student, every last one of these companies seemed to be as shitty as each other.
According to my friend from school who gave me a referral to this job, everywhere else is just as bad. The world is just full of these fuckin’ sweatshops. Fuck those clients who change everything at the last minute. Fuck the bosses who dump all the work on us grunts and leave on time every day. Fuck the temp workers who sometimes get paid better than us full-timers. Fuck the part-timers too. Fuck everyone! If you’re gonna change the specifications, pay us for the work we’ve already done! Dipshits! You’re all just brainless sheep! With my urge to kill rising, I slam down on the enter key for the last time, wrapping up this project.
Wheeew.
Completely exhausted, I hang my head down in front of my computer and let out a sigh. There are a lot of coworkers on a death march much like me. They all have their own work to do and can’t spare the time looking at other people. Another guy in my department is slumped over his desk, looking like as if he were dead.
“All dooone?” “All dooone.”
There wasn’t any strength left in our words. I gently lift my head to check the clock. Ugh… it’s already five in the morning. I don’t even have time to go home. They take no excuses from grunts like me who have to be here by eight o’clock sharp.
At any rate, even though we’re done with this project, I think we’ll have to be on stand-by for the next one. Just thinking about it makes my blood boil. The next deadline draws nearer. How much fuller are you gonna cram this schedule, you bastards?
Gotta calm down. My body is already tattered. I can’t risk burning out and dropping out. I wish I knew some kind of magic to somehow escape from this hellhole. Otherwise I’m just gonna die here like this.
“…”
There’s only three hours left. Out from under my desk, I take out my sleeping bag and slip into it. How lucky I am to get three hours of sleep. I’ll change and take my dirty clothes to a coin laundry at lunch. Then, some time in the evening, I’ll hit up a bathhouse nearby. I get to do that once every three days or so.
Speaking of which, how long has it been since I’ve gone home? With the time I could spend thinking about that, I use it to sleep instead. With the groans of zombies and clacking of keyboards in the background, I fall asleep like a warrior after an arduous fight. Ah. Lying down feels so good. I could sleep forever.
“I’ve found you, dragon!” “… you lot sure are persistent.”
The foolish human soldiers shouted at me, a dragon flying in the sky. Humans are but easy prey to me. However, I have no such interest in destroying them. If not for them being such an annoyance, like flies in my face, I would not even try to involve myself with them. Yet, these humans fly through the sky, plotting something nefarious. The magical barrier erected is nought but a hindrance to me. … killing them now would be too heavy-handed. I shall scare them away and destroy their barrier.
Truly, humans are pests to wherever they propagate. What do they stand to gain by defeating me? I stop beating my wings to land in front of the leader of these humans. A battle of magic begins.
They put down magic circles after magic circles. Almost all of them are protective spells to prevent human casualties. … what a bothersome way to fight.
However, there will be no casualties in a battle with me. Though troublesome, humans are tenacious. If I were to such carelessly kill one of them, it would be a spark for a war involving all of mankind. Even with multiple copies of me, it would still cost considerable time to fight off all humans. I shall cast my mighty Flame of Megiddo and incinerate their armor.
With a mighty roar, I breathe out a scorching blaze.
I cause the vanguard major damage. The smell of burning flesh permeates the air. With fine control, my flames dealt most of the damage to the ones wearing armor, narrowly avoiding causing deaths amongst the humans.
“Villainous dragon!”
The leader charges to the frontlines. In a set of pure white armor, this warrior—a representative of the humans—brandishes a sword enchanted with anti-magic properties. He cuts through my magic, defending himself. However, seeing his ally behind him taking full brunt of the attack, the warrior shouts in a rageful voice. How does he ignore the fact that he was the one instigating this fight? Not only that, but he has the nerve to victimize himself… This generation is all talk. No matter what, they have to feign being just.
I have a life of my own to live. I wish not to perish. Humans do not seem to understand that fact. In any case, I would prefer to quickly escape from this predicament. If threats will not work, then I shall bring down Heavenly Thunder to smite their sorcerers conjuring the barrier. Know thy place! I am merely holding back on you lot!
“From the moment you were imprisoned within our barricade, you had no chance of victory. Take this!”
The warrior raised his sword towards me. For a dragon like me, a hero’s sword is needed to cut through. Wielding even a sword made of dragon scales would be a fruitless endeavor. However, not only is the warrior’s sword not one of a hero’s, a hero’s sword has to choose to slay a dragon. I am brimming with confidence that I am not the dragon chosen by that sword.
I need not to defend against his attack. I shall take the warrior’s attack straight on. The enemy is the one behind him—the sorcerers. I shall start charging to cast Heavenly Thunder. The warrior’s sword bounces off my scales and sets off sparks.
“It connected!”
What?! The warrior’s sword snaps and something like a glimmering crystal appears from within. Curses—recently, my comrades have fallen to this magic without leaving a mark on the humans.
“This is the end for you, dragon!”
With a howl, I unleash my magic to counter their spell.
… what the hell kind of dream was that?
It wasn’t remotely realistic, but total fantasy. That was great. Way better than dreaming about being shitty at my job. Dreaming makes time seem to pass by slower too. Being half-awake and feeling like you’ve dreamt for a week is even better than a relaxing sleep. Anyway… maybe it’s not such a good thing that my dream was from the dragon’s point of view. I’d like to pretend as if they were all the assholes from work and just let loose on them.
Their spell eroded through my defensive magic and then coursed through my body.
“Don’t underestimate mankind! Now die!” Gyahhh!
I fire off all the power I have left. Seemingly as a response to it, great lines of red run through my body and into the earth.
“W-what?!”
… huh? What the hell? It feels as if I’m floating in the air, but gravity is pulling me back down. Like this is some sort of hallucination. Right, it’s the same feeling like riding a roller coaster. I’m… the dragon and wrapped in light. I soar above to space, red light shoots out from my body, and I drop like a meteor back down to Earth. Whoaaaaaaa?!
“B-Blast! Dragon! I won’t let you escape us! Wherever you go, we shall come hunting you do—"
Before the light fills my vision and I soar into space, I hear my opponent run his mouth. And then… my consciousness completely fades.
Blub… blub. An unnerving noise. But at the same time, this feels really, really nice. Ah. It’s just like as if I’m soaking in an onsen. It feels as great as that. Something making a big splash is coming towards me.
“Are you alright?!”
Mm… I’m not fully awake yet. Rather than half-asleep, it’s more like my fatigue is giving me sleep paralysis. Then I remember the feeling of someone pulling on me.
Who is it? Or rather, what is it? Can’t you let me sleep for a little longer…? What, did I get assigned a new guy at work and he’s trying to wake me up? There are so many noises going on at once. I can’t see anything in the office, but I can at least hear it. Thanks a lot, but this is complete unnecessary. Let me sleep more.
“You’re going to be fine! Cough!”
It sounds like I’ve been dragged out of the bath.
“Hello?! Are you awake?!” “Mm… I don’t wanna wake up…”
I am definitely not going to wake up for you. My body isn’t even able to move anyway, so I sleep! After displaying my willpower, I fall back asleep. It feels like as if the sounds are getting quieter.
Zzz…
Has it been a while? I wake up with a weird feeling and open my eyes.
“Ahh… that was a good nap. Huh?” “Ah.”
I wake up and scan my surroundings. I see an unfamiliar girl looking at me. In her hands is… a mortar and pestle. It seems as if she’s concocting some sort of medicine.
“Have you finally woken up? I’m so glad that you’re alright.”
Ignoring the worried girl, my head’s a complete mess. I mean, I was sleeping under my desk at work. I look down and, as expected, I’m wearing my dress shirt and trousers. Let me take a look at my surroundings.
I’m at the bank of some kind of purplish swamp with a bonfire burning, with ominous-looking trees and a slight haze in the air surrounding us. It feels like some sort of weird place deep in the mountains. Oh. Are we at some sort of campground?
Is this a dream? Or is this some kind of prank? I’ll try asking this girl in front of me to sort things out.
“I was about to feed you an antidote and a potion, but I’m glad you have awakened.”
… huh? What’s with this girl? The words coming out of her mouth sound kinda weird. I understand what she’s saying, but her pronunciation is kinda off? At least I can tell that she’s not speaking Japanese.
“Umm… this is a little sudden, but where are we?”
Am I speaking in some other language too? Maybe I’m just imagining it.
“… is your memory a little hazy?”
The girl speaks in a worried tone. How should I explain? Do I speak frankly? Or is this some kind of prank? Or perhaps even that I’m still dreaming. They say if you pinch your cheek while you’re dreaming, it’d still hurt like normal, so you wouldn’t be able to tell from that. To be honest, I’ve had dreams like that before too.
“Well, it’s a mess in my head all of a sudden…” “Oh, that’s right, isn’t it? I mean, after all, you did fall in a poisonous swamp… and you were breathing in that toxic gas too, so it really isn’t all that strange.”
A poisonous swamp? Ah, you mean swamps that have poisonous gasses bubbling through? Are there still places like that in Japan? Shit, don’t tell me that this fuckin’ company didn’t want to pay me, so they went and got their hands dirty.
Considering how easy it would be, they’ve done quite the sloppy job. For this cutie to have found me and your plans to come to nothing… Hmm? Aren’t her facial features really well-defined for a Japanese girl? Her eyes aren’t black either… it’s some sort of purplish-blue, you could say. No, that’s not it, but her whole appearance isn’t very Japanese-like.
Her dress isn’t fully Western, but it’s all frilly and cute. And around her neck is a scarf. Very stylish. Mm. This has got to be some high-level cosplay. And her age… a high school student perhaps? Oof, I’ve caught glimpses of a schoolgirl in cosplay. Nice. It looks fantastic on her.
Seems like she was also carrying a large basket, the one placed down nearby. While I eye her up and down, the girl places a hand on her chest and smiles.
“I believe we have yet to introduce ourselves. My name is Arleaf. I’m an apothecary.”
Arleaf, eh? She doesn’t seem like your average herbalist though.
“My name’s Kogure, Yukihisa…” “Mr. Cohgray, is it?”
Why are you pronouncing my name so weirdly? But Cohgray, huh…? Kinda fantasy sounding. Still kinda irks me though.

Broke the slogan part 3
Draco Malfoy x fem!reader
Summary: Draco and you study in the library. After finishing your essay you come up with an idea to spend time and you are getting into a stern conversation.
Warnings: ambivalent plot, crying, sad storytime, sweet and caring Draco, a little flirting
Draco was pacing in the library at least for 20 minutes and it was still just half past 6.
"What was I thinking? What will we talk about? Should I even bother making a conversation? After all, it's just an essay, no need for chit-chatting." - he thought
"I'm an idiot." - he exclaimed
"If you are waiting for someone to disagree, you'll be pacing here all your life." - I said, surprising him with my presence
"Just joking." - I smiled at him, patting his shoulder when I saw his sad expression
"You are early." - he stated simply
"Yeah, well I finished dinner early so I thought I'll find some book for the essay. Honestly, what was Snape thinking? Two parchments on a potion for a bloody cold?" - I sighed heading to the bookshelves
"Certainly there's not much to write. Perhaps we could add an allergy part." - he advised
"Allergy part?" - I asked, grabbing a book
"Yeah. For example, I am allergic to Bicorn Horn in the Pepperup potion." - he said
"Ohh, I didn't know. But that's a good idea." - I grabbed another book
In the end, we found enough information for two parchments in 7 different books, and only a little more than one hour passed. We didn't talk much, only discussed the topic of the essay.
"Finally, we are dooone" - I yawned, relaxing my brain
"Do you want to go somewhere else?" - I asked Draco after a few minutes of silence
"Ohh, well..." - he was speechless
"I mean, surely you didn't want to just study here." - I winked at him jokingly while putting the books back on the shelves
Seeing Draco blushing, I giggled a little then took his hand - "Come with me."
We took steps after steps, turned into different corridors, reaching the final, spiral stairs up to a tower. When we climbed to the top and opened the door, I lead us to a bay window and sit down, looking at the landscape.
It was nearly a full moon and the moonlight brought everything a silver shade. The trees of the Forbidden Forest seemed calm, but a few creatures ran in and out of it from time to time. And the black lake seemed a lot blacker now in the evening, except the one spot, where the moon reflected on it. But the most beautiful part was the clear sky, where every star and constellation was able to be seen.
"After a long day, I just come here and look at the scenery. Beautiful, isn't it? - I asked
"Yeah... How did you find this place? It's quite hidden." - Draco asked, turning to look at me
"Well, back in the 2nd year, when Flint picked up on me because I didn't have friends, I was furious, even though I hexed him to next week." - I giggled a little, looking at him - "So I was just buried in my thoughts and my legs moved by themselves and when I realized, I was here. I only remember the route because I needed to get back to my dorm somehow. Needless to say, I lost my way a lot for the first few visits here but eventually, I've always found the tower."
"So, you come here frequently?" - he asked
"Almost every night. Sometimes even during the day" - I answered sadly - "My roommates tend to bring a guy up to our dorm. It's kind of annoying, to be honest, so I just leave, either way, they'd just shove me out of there." - I looked back at the scenery - "Besides, it's a great place to be when you have a hard time, nobody disturbs you, so you can freely do anything alone. Even Filch misses this spot on his patrolling."
Draco took one of his hand on top of mine, and when I looked at him, he had a gentle smile. Even though it was a sweet gesture, the only thing I could do was frown, as the negative memories and thoughts came into my mind, and I just looked down on the floor.
"Why don't you visit someone or just go and sit down in the common room for chit-chatting?" - he asked after a while, with concern in his voice
"You see, Flint was right. It's not just that I didn't have friends back then, but I still don't. Not that I haven't tried to find some. But every time I got close to someone who is not a pureblood Slytherin with death eater parents, my parents would threaten them and their family until they stopped talking with me and cut of every connection. And as you can see, people with 'proper qualities' hate me, because I don't bully others or think that I am superior." - at this point I realized that I'll break down soon, as tears started to roll down my cheeks, but I needed to speak my mind out to someone - "And even though I don't have a family anymore and they don't care about me anymore, it's useless now to put effort into it. Everyone who's been threatened told their experiences and stories all around the school so nobody wants to have any kind of connection with me." - I finally let the tears fall
Suddenly, Draco put his arms around me and pulled me closer to him, hugging me tightly. After what felt like forever, my sobs quietened and I calmed down, relaxing silence falling on us.
"Even though they never really mattered, I am certainly matching those qualities." - he broke the silence after a few minutes, pulling away a little to look at me in the eyes, but not letting me go - "But anyway, I do think you are my friend... No, we ARE friends, that's for sure, I'm not just thinking." - he shook his head while correcting, letting his bleach blond locks wiggling a little.
I chuckled at his sweet and childishly cute enthusiasm.
I leaned up to kiss his cheek and then hugged him, burying my head in the crook of his neck.
I don't know when I fell asleep but I finally had a great sleep after a very long time. When I woke up, eyes remained closed, I felt that I was in a quiet bigger bed than mine.
"Look who's finally awake." - a familiar voice said
"Hmm" - was all I could mutter
"Morning, princess." - I felt someone sitting down on the bed next to me
"Morning, Draco." - I humbled, half still asleep, but adjusting my eyes to the light - "Why am I in your bed?"
"Ohh, well, you kind of... fell asleep on me and um... I planned to carry you back to your dorm, but then I remembered what you said about your roommates so I decided to bring you here instead." - he said, blushing a little - "But don't worry, I didn't do anything inappropriate."
"It's okay, Draco." - I smiled warmly at him - "It would never pop up in my mind."
"Anyway, it's already past 9 so..." - he started but I cut him off
"9??? It's like still dawn." - I growled, tugging myself under the blanket again
"You did realize you are in my bed, right?" - he asked with a playful tone
"And you did realize it's Saturday, right? Anyway, you are the one who brought me here." - I mumbled into the pillow
He laughed a little then continued - "I was going to say before your overreaction that it's past 9 so breakfast is already over. And because I'm not as good as you with sneaking out food, I only brought this."
"Really?" - I sat up giggling - "A green apple?"
"Why, what's wrong with that? You don't like apples? Ohh, I should have thought about it." - he said, looking down, playing with his fingers nervously
"No, I love it, Thanks." - I kissed his cheek and stood up - "It's just funny, that's all."
"And why exactly?" - he asked confused
"I'll go to Hogsmeade to eat something. Come with me and I'll tell you why." - I winked at him before going out of his dorm.
Author's note: Hey guys! I'm so sorry that it took me so long, but winter break was over and school has started and as it's nearly the end of the semester, I have a lot studying going on. But I'm working on stories, just don't always have the time or a chance to sit down in front of my computer to write down the story there (as I'm usually writing into a booklet) And also, I was thinking that I'll also post stories other than this series, but only headcanons/oneshots/drabble, as I get a lot of ideas (currently working on a young Sirius Black x reader oneshot) Ok, that was long, but I just wanted to tell you this. Have a lovely day ^^

Shirou 2: It was sudden, but I'm glad you came with us.
Outside: Have some tea
Panel 4
Rin: Well, I just happened to be free.
Rin outside: Thanks
Panel 5:
Rin: So, what did you think, Saber? Did you have fun?
Panel 6
Saber: Yes. I'd enjoyed myself.
Panel 7:
Rectangle box: Today

panel 1
Literal version
Shirou's thought 1:Because we were suddenly given these tickets,
Shirou's thought 2:Toshaka, Saber, and I were told to go to the pool in the Shinto District
Taiga 1(right): I was given these, but it doesn't look I'll be able to go before they expire. So, I'm giving them to you!
Taiga 2(bottom): And, look there's just happens to be three people here!
Taiga 3(left): And, I just happen to have three tickets! Isn't this perfect?
Panel 2:
Panel 1: We've enjoyed the water slides, joined a 3-person relay race,
Panel 2: and the wave pool. And even after that, we continued swimming.
Shirou's written aside: I shouldn't stare.
Panel 3:
Rider's aside: Well, if it isn't,
Rider's aside: Shirou, Rin and even Saber?
Panel 4:
Rin: Impressive as always, huh?
Panel 5:
Box 1: She intended to swim alone, but she ended up playing beach ball with us
Rin: Since's Rider is here, shouldn't we take advantage of this?
Rider: fu fu... I wonder if you are saying that to take advantageous of my height...
Shirou: Huh?
Saber: Hmmmmm
Panel 5:
Box 1: We've ran into two certain servants and before I knew, we've already start playing with them.
Box 2: I wonder why they bother coming here today?
Cu: Shouldn't you be pulling your punches?
Rin: He's definitely aiming for your head.
89
panel 1
Rin: Speaking of swimming, we were using muscles we don't typically use.
Rin 2: We're probably going to be sore tomorrow, huh?
Shirou: My noses still hurts.
panel 2
Shirou: Anyways, we're going to have dinner soon, but…
Shirou 2: are you going to be able to eat anything, Toshaka?
*clunk
Panel 3:
Rin: Well, I'm so tired that I wouldn't have much an appetite.
Saber: That can be amended, Rin.
panel 4
Shirou: Hmmmm
Panel 5:
Shirou: I've got it!
Panel 6
Clank*
Panel 7
Rin: Shirou? You know the barley tea's right here, right?
Panel 8
Shirou 1: You misunderstand. This is Dashi.
Panel 2: It's something I've already prepared.
Shirou: These containers are convenient, you know?
Panel 9:
Rin: ...typical.
Shirou: This is going to be the star for tonight's dinner.
Shirou 2: And I think it'll be something that you'll be able to eat.
Panel 10
Instruction 1: Speaking of the Dashi, here's how I made it.
Instruction 2: Before using the konbu, you should gently wipe away any debris.
Written: Please do not scrub too forcefully
90
Panel 1
Instruction 1: Place the now cleaned konbu into one liter of water and leave it to soak overnight.
Panel 2
Instruction box 1: Take the water, transfer it into a pot, and then heat the mixture on a medium heat.
Instruction 2:
Just before the mixture boils, remove the konbu
Written sentence: If the konbu isn't removed before the water boils, it won't taste as good
Panel 3
Instruction: Pour around 8 to 10 centi-liters of water into the stock to cool it down.
** the actual text says “80 to 100 Cubic Centimeters…but, that didn’t make sense to me. So, I converted it to something recognizable. If you feel this is more universally recognizable, feel free to convert it back to the 80 to 100 cc
It should ideally be about 90 degrees
Panel 4
Instruction 1: At this point, turn off the heat and then sprinkle in some Katsubushi
Katsubushi: Drived bonito
Instruction 2: Once again, turn the fire on. Using a low heat, let the stock simmer until it's just about to boils
Written: Don't let the stock hit boiling point.
Panel 5:
Instruction: Remove any residue and turn the fire off
Panel 6:
Written outside the box: Tea-towel
Instruction box: When transferring the stock into another container, it is recommended that you use tools such as a strainer or a tea-towel. Most of the bonito will end up sticking to the pot.
Written note: Transfer the stock 1-2 minutes after you turn off the fire.
Panel 7:
Instruction 1: After the transfer, return the dashi back into the pot and add the salt, soy sauce, and the mirin. Again stew stock.
Instruction 2: Leave the dashi out to cool.
Written: And now the dashi is now complete
91
Panel 1:
Shirou: ...What ingredients should I use?
Panel 2:
Instruction:
For this recipe, we'll begin by grilling the salmon. Once that is done, remove the bones and smash the fish into small pieces.
Panel 3:
Instruction:
Dice the cucumber into thin slices
Panel 4:
Instruction: Shred both the ginger and the myoga**
Written Section: Make sure you do not mix the gingers together.
**I’ll add more details about this in the translator note
Panel 5:
Instruction:
First allow the dice cucumber soak in salt water. After it has soaked for a little while, the fruit’s natural sugars would have defused into the water. After that gently squeeze the cucumbers and set them back into the spa water. This is done to control the fruit’s moisture level.
Sound effect: Squeeze
Panel 6:
Shirou: Toshaka should be fine with this.
Panel 7:
Shirou: If this isn't enough for Saber and me, I could make something else later.
Panel 8:
Shirou: Toshaka, how's this?
PG 92
Panel 1:
Shirou: Chilled O-Chazuke.
Panel 2:
Shirou: A cool meal to eat when the refrigerated dashi or the tea is poured in. Even if you have no appetite, this'll be easy to eat.
Shirou 2: Whenever its hot, people get a craving for shaved ice, right?
Panel 3:
Toshaka: Hmmm... I should be able to manage this.
Panel 4:
Shirou 1: Bits of Salmon, Myoga, Ginger, salted konbu, and miso
Shirou 2: have all been prepared for you. Add whatever you want, but please make sure you eat something.
93
Panel 2:
*Munch*
Rin: ....hmm
Panel 3:
Munch. Munch
Panel 4
Munch
Munch
*slurp*
Panel 5:
Rin: ...I've finished it.
Panel 6:
Saber: written: Indeed
Saber: That’s wonderful.
Saber written 2: This is good dashi.
Rin: You know I wasn't lying about my appetite, right?
Panel 7:
Shirou: Toshaka
Panel 8:
Shirou: If you want another severing, there's still more, you know?
*smile*
Panel 9
*gulp
94:
Panel 2:
Rin: Please
Panel 3
Saber written: Shirou, I would also request another
Shirou: Yes. Yes.
Panel 4:
Rin: Hmm... The miso's pretty good
Saber: agreed!
Munch munch munch munch munch munch
panel 5
Rin: I'll be trying it with tea....
Rin 2: Is this my third bowl...?
Saber: The salted konbu is also good.
Shirou: I'm really enjoying the myoga and ginger.
Panel 6
Well
Rin: That was satisfying
Panel 8:
Rin: Sooome how, I'm feeling quite energetic now
Panel 9:
Rin 1: All right, Shirou!
Rin 2: Here's another request!
Rin 3: If you give me a massage, I'll make a complete recovery!
Shirou: Seriously?
95
Without further ado, Chilled O-Chazuke
Left side
(Ingredients) for four people
As much rice as you want
2-3 servings of salted salmon
1-2 rolls of cucumber
1-2 buds of Myouga
1 piece of Ginger
A proper amount of salted konbu
A proper amount of white sesame
Dashi
1 L of Water
10 G Dashi Konbu
20-25 G of Katsuobushi
A:
1 Table spoon of natural salt
(or 2/3 tea spoons of Refined salt)
A little bit of soy sauce
1 Tea spoon of Mirin
(Arrow underneath this box): Regarding the soy sauce's color and scent, a thin soy sauce is ideal for the stock. However, regular/dark soy sauce would also work in this recipe.
Sesame Miso paste
60 G (about 4 table spoons) of Miso
20 G (about 2 Table spoons) of white Sesame
1 Table spoon of Mirin
1. Grind the sesame with something like a mortar
2. Add the miso, mirin, and continue grinding until you can smell a pleasant aroma
(note) If you do not have a mortar, then you can crush the seeds with your fingers and mix the ingredients with a spoon
(note) If you use white miso paste, then Mirin becomes unnecessary
Right Side:
How to make the Dashi
1. Before using the konbu, you should gently wipe away any debris.(The white spots on the surface are actually quite flavorful and is where the amino acids build up on the konbu)
2. Place the now cleaned konbu into one liter of water and leave it to soak overnight.
bubble connected to 2: If you are using instant dashi, then you can skip this step
3. Transfer the contents of step 2 into a pot and then turn the stove on medium heat.
Before boiling the mixture, remove the Konbu.
(Note) If you boil the mixture with the konbu, the konbu will lose its flavor.
Whenever you boil konbu, a sea-scented, but humid vapor will steam out as well
(Note) When you use something like Dashi konbu over regular konbu, you should know that the dashi konbu already has a milder flavor. Thus, letting the mixture (from step 2) sit overnight, the flavor would be light enough that heating it up wouldn't be necessary.
4. Add somewhere between 8 to 10 centiliters of water to cool (Ideally, you'll do this when the water is 90 Degrees Celsius)
5. Turn the fire off and add the Katsuobuji. Then turn the fire back on hot heat and heat the mix until it’s just about to boil.
6. The heat will denature scum from the mixture. So, after you turn off the fire, use things like a tea-towel and a streamer to filter and transfer the dashi. While you are pouring the dashi, the katsubuji will stick to the bottom of the pot.
(note) After turning off the fire, it's recommended to wait about 1-2 minutes before transferring the mixture.
If the dashi is left out for too long, the taste will be negatively impacted and stink up the area you have left it in.
7. Return the dashi into the pot, add the ingredients from step A, and then let it boil. After that, let the dashi cool down. (Typical dashi will be finished at step 6)
How to make the O-Chazuke
1. Grill the salmon, remove the bones from the body and chop up the body.
Bubble: Canned Tuna, Roasted minced chicken, or something like eggs would also be delicious alternatives
2. Dice the cucumber into thin slices and shred both the ginger and myoga.
Soak the dice cucumber soak in salt water. After the sugar has defused into the water, regulate the cucumber's moisture by gently squeezing the fruit. After that, you may set the now lighter fruit back into the spa water.
3. To prepare the meal, set your favorite toppings onto the rice, pour the cool dashi or tea and then enjoy!! Depending on the weather and the temperature, you might enjoy adding ice to the meal.
(note) To those that mind sticky food, washing the rice in cold water will mitigate how sticky the dish will be.
(Last topic box on the right) In Katsuou Dashi, the kind of Katsubushi used has some drastic differences
Arabushi-style bonito flakes typically used for things like udon. It is typically used in cooking that demands a richer flavor.
Karebushi-style bonito flakes is typically used for things like soups and stews. Use this when you wish to bring out the flavor of the other ingredients.
Bubble: While this recipe is written with the intention of using Karebushi, Arabushi is fine.
At the Japanese Super Market, you might notice that konbu product names are shortened to save space. So, if "Katsuofushi(かつおふし)" is written in Japanese, then it is Arabushi. If its "Katsuo Karebushi(かつおかれぶし)", then it is Karebushi.

(TL: it's time for a Jojo Reference!)

they all have a few things in common (besides the A): they're all self-absorbed, arrogant, and selfish. it manifests in different ways for them but ultimately they all think they have some power/skill that others don't have, and it leads to them making a major fucking mistake that causes their own downfall
now here's where they differ: what they do with the fallout all differs from character to character.
anakin goes full fucking evil mode and takes twenty years to finally show a modicum of decency, and then dies immediately after, which makes me hard pressed to call it a true redemption rather than just "turning ok in the end."
ahrima has his big epic "WHAT HAVE I DOOONE" moment, reaps the consequences of his actions, and then we like, never see him again so he honestly never really has the chance to make up for what he's done..? the responsibility of fixing his mistakes falls onto his descendants but i'm also hard pressed to blame him for that, as it seems like the decision was out of his hands. so he's kinda just forced to make this big huge mistake and then never have the opportunity to fix it.
ALTAÏR HOWEVER. his arc is so good. he's SUCH an asshole at the beginning and he fucks up sooo badly because of it and then he's given the choice to either improve himself or literally die. and by god does he improve himself. he learns humility and compassion and has to crawl his way back up from rock bottom AND he kinda saves the world in the process. good for him !!!!
the three A's of shitty fucking guys in fiction: anakin, ahrima, altaïr
#yes i have contemplated this way too much#characters who are from totally different media . i cant help but compare them#sorry these past few years ive loved the archetype of some asshole character fucking up and reaping the consequences#they all fit that archetype. and their names all start with A... coincidence? ithink NOT !#i've written essays about altaïr i love his character growth so much#assassins creed 1 is the blandest of all the ac games but like. i love altaïr so fuck you. it's my favorite of the ac games LMAOO#his arc is just sooo interesting none of the other protags really get me like that#brot posts

Chester,
I don't understand how your death has hit me so hard. I didn't know you personally, but the countless years that I listened to your music and followed your work, made me feel like I did. I've admired you, connected with you, and screamed with you. I didn't realize a celebrity's passing could affect me like this. I sat in my car listening to the OG "Crawling," and started crying. Your words would always cut like a knife, but now in a different way. Your past was hard, and your music spoke to that. I never realized how bad it got for you. Your last album feels like a goodbye letter. How could we not see? Because you're an artist? Because it's typical for a musician to release deep, heart-wrenching music? We should have realized that you needed more. I don't know how much help you received, but there had to be something that we, your fans, could have done right? Idk. As a fan, I now feel you coming out of your music... Different than before. It's SO much deeper. Isn't that sad? I know it's cheesy to site, but The Band Perry's song, put it so perfectly, "a penny for my thoughts, oh no I'll sell em for a dollar. They're worth so much more after I'm a goner. And maybe then you'll hear the words I've been singin. Funny when you're dead how people start listenin." It's so painstakingly true. No doubt I heard you every time someone hurt me or when I needed a reason to release my anger and frustration. No doubt. But now I am taking in every word you sang. Especially your recent album. Released only a few months ago. You had to be in the thick of it. I mean Jesus, your first song on the album is "Nobody Can Save Me." Don't even get me started on "Heavy," and "One More Light." Chester, you were THE light in those million stars. Ugh, that song is about you pleading with people who have or are suicidal. I care so much that your light has gone out, but you know what... it hasn't. Your light will live through your music forever. Your story will live through the lyrics. I may not have known you, but I have so many fond memories of you. The first time I heard you was probably in my brothers red truck when I was 9. I was obsessed with Linkin Park partially because my big bro loved you guys, but also because I actually loved your voice. I liked the darkness of it. NO ONE can compete with your scream. No one! I remember that my Dad hated that Adam showed me your first album. He hated it even more when he found me in possession of Hybrid Theory. You know, the OG red CD? My dad stole that CD from me so many times because he didn't believe your music was actually music. Don't worry, I always found a way to steal it back. I remember the time I was being spiteful on the way to the river. I was in the back seat of our old suburban and listening to Hybrid in my Walk-Man... yeah, that long ago. I was singing your lyrics out loud because I knew my Dad didn't understand your music. He didn't realize that your lyrics actually meant something, but that just the screams made them appear bad. He had no problem with me singing your songs, and I remember thinking, "Hah! He doesn't even know who I'm listening to. If only he realized that Linkin Park isn't bad." Well, my clumsy ass ruined that when I hopped out of the car and dropped my Walk-Man. Your CD out in plain view. My Dad was so pissed that I went through his drawers to find your CD again. I remember when you went on your own with Dead by Sunrise. I was sad to not hear Mike Shinoda come on the track, but I loved that voice and intensity. I loved you! I remember when I was watching Queen of the Damned, and I was like, "Wow! That guy sounds oddly like Chester." So I looked it up, and come to find that you collaborated with artists from Korn and Disturbed to morph into the sound for that movie. I immediately became obsessed, and still fucking love that movie in part cuz of you. You can guess what movie I'm watching before bed tonight. I remember when people would talk shit on your newer albums because they "sucked" or "wasn't as good as the first two" or "they're dooone." I remember that I'd either just stay quiet in response, or be like, "Nah, I still love em." Or how about when Transformers would come out, and you guys had kickass songs to go with their release! "What I've Done" is still one of my favs. The best is now that I'm older, and when I'm sitting at bars with friends and your voice comes over the speaker, EVERYONE always goes nuts. Not everyone knows ALL the lyrics, but hey, Linkin Park hit the scene so hard that you made pretty much everyone like fucking metal. Or at least you guys. I always pound on my steering wheel when your songs come on. There are few artists/bands that can get me that into it. I should have seen you in concert when I had the chance. I should have made it happen. I will never get so see who I think, is one of the greats. One of the best! I regret that. I'm sorry, Chester. I'm sorry that you were in so much pain. I'm sorry that your heart felt no resolve until your last breath. I'm so sorry that you are gone. I will miss hearing your voice on fresh new music, but I will forever be listening to the music you've made. Your legacy will live on.
