after the war with gaea poseidon brings percy underwater for a bit, not to atlantis but still far enough away, and he tries his best to help percy.

because he can help him in a way that no one else can, and that percy didnt even know he needed

hes able to physically heal him (not fully but its good enough), and also knows most, if not everything about percy, so he can also listen and try to help him mentally too, and he can also be the parental figure he always wanted to be to percy, and that percy always needed

and dont get me wrong, i love sally, but she cant help percy the same way poseidon can because she isnt a part of the mythology world as much as she wants to be, and poseidon is

and so when poseidon brings him underwater and tries to help him, percy kinda just. loses it. but not in an angry or the usual way, in the way that hes needed this his entire life but never knew, and before he realizes hes crying and poseidon calmly and quietly pulls percy closer to him and just holds him tight and lets him cry

and after a while of percy crying (cough several hours cough), poseidon realizes that hes completely quiet now and- oh shit percy fucking passed out

poseidon has never been able to cradle his son to sleep, no matter how much hes wanted to. hes watched sally do it for years and years but has always longed to do it himself, and has eventually accepted that it will never happen

but even after 16 years, and after he thought hed never get the chance, he does. so he just holds percy. and calms him when the nightmares come. and swears to himself that he will never let his son go through any of that ever again, even if he has to defy the king of gods himself, no one will stop him from helping this son from that moment on

alright tldr; he is a combination of all of my favorite things in media when it comes ta a character. hes a monster, hes a dilf, hes a bunny, hes got a nice voice, hes evil, hes a robot, hes interesting ta me beyond a simp level which really sells it i think (or its the bunny thing i really like bunny characters skjdgkdjgkdf). there's so much you can talk abt with him. theres so much you can do. hes an evil fucked up scientist who loves his kids so much he tries ta reverse death itself ta bring them back. he manages ta die and then bring himself back ta life through pure spite and grit and determination ta "come back". he fucking survives a fire and then assumedly rebuilds himself which under than assumption (even though scraptrap is butt ugly) that would take an incredible level of ingenuity. literally how could i not love him. hes this twisted fucking mutilation of humanity melded with metal. he willingly gave up his humanity ta become this horrible fucking thing and relishes in it. ive seen ppl talk about the trans metaphor and yeah!! that totally applies here too (i hc spring/william afton as trans cough cough). what i really like especially is how he does all these evil fucked up things and feels no remorse about any of it like!! sometimes storylines will try ta make the villain sympathetic but fuck that!! let him be unabashedly evil!! even though i think his motive for killing kids was ta save his own, its still super evil and fucked up that he took those kids from other families in the first place!! and its so cool!! hes repeatedly inflicting the same trauma on other parents he felt himself with no remorse!!!!!! talk about irony!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the story telling with him can be so good!!!

I think what I really love about ttpd is that it is (in my opinion) 1. taylor's most cathartic album and 2. so emotional that you can't help but feel exactly how she wants you to feel at any given point, which granted, taylor has always been a master at, but with ttpd it all just feels so heightened and raw and like in that moment those are the only emotions that exist. it's just such a rollercoaster all the way through which is exactly the point!!!

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT???? tumblr is doing nothing for pride and target isn't selling much (if any) of their pride collection offline except at certain stores (in democratic areas, basically) and build a bear has a much tinier collection than normal and all the actual pride stuff is on their "adult" website (not sure if it's in stores, but pride = adult is a hell of a message)

there are genuinely good criticisms for performative allyship in all its applications. it shouldn't be the only thing we expect from people and companies. but if all the shit I see being called performative stopped tomorrow then in terms of the LGBTQ+ community especially we just. wouldn't talk about queerness or queer issues or celebrate pride or do anything.

open your fucking eyes. we are very close politically to having gay marriage rolled back. now companies are basically being let off the hook to even make a miniscule effort (which matters to the people who don't have access to any other kind of support in their communities! which normalizes the community in public spaces!) because the only reaction they have gotten over the last few years are negative ones from BOTH sides.

we are so entrenched in discourse at all times for the sake of our OWN performance of who is the wokest and who is REALLY an ally or a good community member that we have basically handed over all the work of activists of the last several decades to the other side because we'd rather scream at each other over fucking chicken restaurants and shit than the real life backsliding that's happening.

and this goes for other shit too. feminism, poc rights, all of it.

also. trans rights aren't discourse and aren't just culture war arguments. in case any terfs think they can spin this to be antitrans.
