I've been tracking this down for a while now and I've finally found confirmation of what I suspected: Google Maps imagery for Piha Beach in Aotearoa New Zealand captured the setup for filming of Our Flag Means Death's Season 2, Episode 8!

[EDIT 25 June: the north end current imagery is sadly no longer this version, but I've captured it for posterity here, and it's still visible in the free Google Maps Pro app- read on for more info].

On the left is the north end of Piha Beach with the inn set. On the right is the south end carpark with the film crew base.

Why is that cool to me? Because it truly was a fleeting moment in time, no more than a handful of days of possibility, and yet it was captured as the image on the map, at least for a period of time. As an archaeologist I love a moment preserved in time, and in this one you can even see the OFMD production crew on the beach and on the path. It's places and people caught in the flashbulb of this aerial image.

The specifics of how I pinned down the imagery and the date are in this Twitter thread, but the short version is, I was hunting for a better visual on the area immediately surrounding the inn while writing Full Fathom Five, and noticed that the carpark in particular seemed to line up exactly with images from the final day of filming.

The final day of filming overall was 13 December 2022, filming at Piha was on 12 December 2022, and this aerial image was taken on 11 December 2022.

I had already been through the first image to make a comparison to the aerial map and it looked like a match, but Google Maps had 2024 in their attribution. [Noting that I'd put 13 Dec on my image notes, but I'd got that tangled with the last day of filming in the Kumeū studio the next day, and it was 12 Dec on location].

Thankfully Google Earth came through with the actual date.

And I just took a further dig into Google Earth Pro, which allows you to switch between previous satellite images, and it confirms a date of 11 December 2022 for the north end image as well.

[EDIT 9 September 2024- thinking about this again and suddenly realised... you know what, very often things will put the date it was in the US when a picture was taken, even when that picture was taken on the other side of the world, in a different timezone. Which made me realise that actually, if this was taken on the 11th of December in the US, that was on the 12th of December in AoNZ. A quick search shows that Google Maps confirms the date can be one day out, so- odds increasing that we're seeing the actual filming of Ep8 here!]

You can also compare this to a few months earlier in March 2022, right around the premiere of OFMD S1 (everything moved so fast in hindsight!) when there was no inn in that spot.

Which means we now know that for now, if you hop onto Google Maps (not Google Earth, because they have a different image for the north end that does come from 2024) and zing on down to Piha Beach, you can take a look at a preserved moment in time from the filming of S2Ep8.

[EDIT 25 June: the north end image has now been updated to the 2024 version across all of Google Maps and Google Earth, but the south end is for now still from the filming day. You can find the previous version for the north end on Google Earth Pro].

Everything that was/is shown at the north end lines up with what we've seen both in the show and in behind the scenes content, all of which I delved into in this Twitter thread last month. That goes into a lot more detail about specifics, but the evidence is solid across the board.

The sandy path that runs beside the inn is a distinct feature seen in the show.

The peak that sits behind it, likewise (from Google Maps user uploads here and here).

The inn itself, and the way the path gives way to an unseen carpark, from Simone Nathan's TikTok video.

Based on all of that, it's easy to see that we've got our inn right here circled in red, preserved in that moment in time, even though it was no doubt taken down as soon as filming was done.

Prep looks like it took a couple of days before filming; filming was pretty much done in a day, according to an article at the time.

So, there you have it- it's a minor little thing and it won't be up forever, but for now you can hop into Google Maps and see an aerial view adjacent to the filming of S2Ep8 at Piha. The other beach scenes from Eps 1, 3 and 8 were filmed at Te Henga/ Bethells Beach.

I don't know how to start this, so I'll just write it down (I put a TW, in case you reblog it).

In 2019 just a few days before Good Omens premiered on Prime Video, I started self-harming, I was about 10/11 years old, I started doing it because of problems with my identity, problem with my family and the bullying I received.

I started watching the show and I must admit that from there I started to be your fan, I was not good at searching for information so I just read Coraline and watched GO.

In 2020 I had one of the worst moments of my life, I was 12, I started having problems with food, my weight and appearance, and I hadn't accepted that I was trans yet.

Everything that had happened last year came back stronger, I found even more series that I liked and finally I could read Good Omens in physical (i mean, physical book).

In 2021 was literally the worst year, I was raped by a teacher at 12 (in December, about 17 days before my birthday), a few days after I turned 13, I started getting high, sexualized to get male affection from men much older than me, and my eating disorder and self-harm were much stronger.

The only thing that calmed me down from all that situation for at least a while were your books, movies and series.

Then, in 2022, my vids improved a little, I got off drugs and bulimia, self-harm was getting regulated, and at the end of the year I stopped self-harming, I also stopped caring what people said and started to enter the English community of my favorite fandoms (I learned more English with that, than with my private lessons lol).

And today, in 2023, at the age of 14, I'm happy to be your fan, I'm proud of your work, and very excited for the second season.

Thank you for saving my life, I love you. (I'm not afraid to admit that you saved my life from committing suicide 6 times).

There's something about haylor meeting at Ed's wedding reception in September, then Harry announcing Fine Line release date in November, then performing at the jingle bell ball on 8th December and then Taylor performing there the next day and telling Fletcher that she loves the lyrics of Undrunk!!!

I missed the Undrunk lyric mention, gee I can see why Taylor would have liked that song it is like her! How fitting for that time.

The 2019 timeline really interests me for the reasons you indicate. Also now that TTPD has referenced when he was 25 which was that year.

From Taylor and Joe at the Spaniards Inn... (like WHY?) The Me! video in all it's Haylor glory, Harry's Swan Gucci Campaign and Boyfriends, Adore You and Lights Up were written. They had each other on their minds.

Then Ed's wedding, it's presumed that Joe was there. Niall followed him the next day.. but Joe didn't follow Niall back for 2 more weeks which I think is weird. (There's a blind that Taylors team controlled that account)

After the wedding gets hazy. Harry was MIA for 2 weeks. Joe went to Toronto to do press for something at TIFF. Taylor went to Paris to film City of Lover and included Style as #13 and Delicate she kept pointing at the Joe-less sound booth.

When Joe was seen with Taylor again (a month later) a huge, silly deal was made about them *gasp* holding hands. Then Joe was away on her birthday again. At the Z100 Jingle Bell Ball in NY (she said she liked Undrunk) and birthday. Joe was filming in London. Harry was LA for the Fine Line ONO on her birthday then missing again. So Joe wasn't at her birthday, Harry was missing in the US for it. Taylor showed up at the Cats premiere with a swollen lip (Maybe lip filler gone bad?) and goes weird talking about her holiday plans.

Taylor spent New Years in the Maldives with Joe "and friends", there's press about weeks later. Harry was in the Caribbean when he first wore the "but daddy I love him" shirt dancing with no shoes. Taylor dressed as a Ariel the New Years before.... I have so many questions about that year and the next

Y/N Y/L/N-Evans ‘Upset’ by Avatar 2’s Dolphin Show

After 13 years of anticipation, Avatar: The Way of Water will be hitting theatres on December 16th of this year. The movie features a number of well-known actors and actresses, including none other than Y/N Y/LN-Evans who plays the character Neytiri.

Although Y/L/N-Evans had announced a hiatus this September, the actress is known to post about her projects on social media, including behind the scenes and excitement that fans admire. However, fans were quick to notice that the 34-year-old new mother hasn’t posted about one of the most anticipated movies of the year, Avatar 2, and a source tells us that she was “upset and saddened by the approval of animal captivity at Avatar 2’s premiere in Tokyo”.

The actress, whose mother is a vet, has always been known for advocating for animal rights. Despite not being present at the premiere, Y/L/N-Evans’ silence regarding the movie is loud and sends a message of disapproval.

“She didn’t know about the dolphin show and was shocked that her crew and castmates applauded the show. She thinks it’s everything the movie doesn’t support. But she reached out to James Cameron and expressed her frustration and he was understanding,” a source says.

A number of animal rights activists were quick to address Y/L/N-Evans on social media despite her absence at the premiere.

Y/L/N-Evans is yet to address the outrage but many assume that there will be no addressing from the actress, considering that her last social media was a hiatus announcement.

Y/N Y/L/N-Evans Condemns Avatar 2’s Dolphin Show

The 34-year-old actress who has announced hiatus in September came back with a post expressing sadness over the dolphin show that took place during Avatar: The Way of Water’s publicity tour in Japan.

In an Instagram post, Y/L/N-Evans wrote that “the exploitation of marine creatures is a disappointment to the tribute I [YL/N-Evans] pay toward nature as Neytiri”.

The post came before Y/L/N-Evans tweeted supporting the Dolphin Project, stating that dolphins are “hunted, abused, and eventually slaughtered” following “No permission.” which fans assume is a jab at the sarcastic comment made by director, James Cameron, at the show by saying the dolphins “gave permission”.

Fans were quick to applaud the actress for speaking up despite being one of the lead stars in the film. Nevertheless, Avatar: The Way of Water is a highly anticipated project which serves to the representation of nature despite the poor decisions taken at its promotional tour.

Y/N Y/L/N-Evans has got the world talking after expressing anger and sadness over the exploitation of marine creatures during Avatar: The Way of Water’s promotional tour in Japan.

Despite the actress’ absence from the premiere, Y/L/N-Evans still addressed the incident in an Instagram post and a tweet.

Neytiri, which Y/L/N-Evans has been playing since 2009 is a character that the actress has expressed being connected to, and so, fans are excited that Y/L/N-Evans has posted to her Instagram story.

“I missed you, Neytiri” the actress wrote.

Avatar: The Way of Water premieres today and has already been doing well with promising numbers.

Wrapping up our SUPER SUNDAY of Summer Con Announcements. Please welcome our fourth Superman, Tyler Hoechlin, to Puyallup for an incredible opportunity on Sunday at the Washington State Summer Con. Tyler is the current Superman on the CW television series Superman & Lois. Can you say Group Superman Photo Ops? Wow!

At the age of 13, Hoechlin was selected from 2,000 auditionees to play Michael Sullivan Jr. in Road to Perdition alongside Tom Hanks. That performance led to him getting the role of Martin Brewer in the television show 7th Heaven. Hoechlin played werewolf Derek Hale in the television series Teen Wolf and was a regular on the show for the first four seasons, and returned as a guest star for the sixth and final season in 2017.

Hoechlin was cast as Superman on the CW show Supergirl in 2016. He was producer Greg Berlanti's first choice for the role and did not have to audition. In 2018, Hoechlin returned to Supergirl as part of the annual Arrowverse crossover episodes, titled "Elseworlds". He also appeared in the corresponding crossover episodes of both Arrow and The Flash, which all aired in December 2018. Hoechlin returned to the Arrowverse for the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" episodes.

In October 2019, it was confirmed that Superman & Lois, a spin-off series starring Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch, was in development at the CW who picked it up straight-to-series in January 2020. The series premiered in 2021 and was renewed for a third season in March 2022.

His other film roles include Undrafted, Bigger, Fifty Shades Freed, and Teen Wolf: The Movie. Tyler voiced Sephiroth in Final Fantasy VII games since 2020.

Lupin Zero - Official PV

The new anime will tell the story of Lupin III as a youth, combining both stories from the original manga with new stories. The show will take place in 1960.

Takeo Yamashita is composing the main theme song "AFRO"LUPIN'68"," based on the original theme song for the original 1971 Lupin the 3rd anime, and Yoshihide Otomo is arranging the song. Tavito Nanao will perform the anime's ending theme song "Lupin Sanse Shudaika II" (Lupin III Theme Song II).

The six-episode net anime series will premiere on December 16, 2022.

Thomas Andrew Felton (born 22 September 1987) is an English actor, who is best known for his portrayal of Draco Malfoy in every film in the Harry Potter film series.

Born in Epsom, Surrey, he grew up in Epsom with his mother, Sharon, his father, Peter, and his three older siblings, Jonathan, Ashley and Chris. Felton.

Felton is one of the thirteen actors to appear in all eight Harry Potter films.

Felton has acted alongside both Fiennes brothers - Ralph Fiennes in the Harry Potter films, and Joseph Fiennes in the 2016 film Risen.

Felton's role as Julian Albert/Dr Alchemy on "The Flash" also referenced his role as Draco due to the Philosopher's Stone, which the main villain Savitar relied on, as that was also his first movie.

About Wen Junhui:

Wen Junhui, known as Moon Junhui in Korean or affectionately called JUN, was born on June 10, 1996, in Shenzhen, China. He started his career as a child actor at the age of 2. At 15, he flew to Korea to audition and eventually debuted with SEVENTEEN. He is the fourth oldest member among the 13.

Fun Fact:

Junhui has several moles on his body, including his face, which align to form a crescent moon shape when connected.

He's skilled in cooking and often volunteers to cook with Mingyu during shoots. He adores cats; anything related to cats fascinates him, though he doesn't own a real one. His representative emoji is the orange cat. 😼

While he appears reserved with his fellow members, Junhui is actually full of antics and his behavior is often unpredictable.
