Chapter 2
By the time we had the dining table set and the food dished out Dad had arrived home with dessert and…well the rest of our so-called family, Ares the oldest, Hades the middle and Phoenix the youngest. I smiled as I approached Dad, giving him a tight hug "Hi Dad, how was work?" I asked as I helped him with his bags and coat, Dad shrugged as he let me take them "It was fine, Mostly just idiots trying to run my kitchen again" he said, pressing a quick kiss to my cheek. I give a quick nod to Ares despite there being a large age gap between us and the bad blood he isn't the worst of the three, Hades gives a once over as he walks past me, nothing but hatred and disgust in his eyes as he bumps my shoulder as hard as he could and then there was Phoenix who gave me that shitty smile of hers. "Arc, my littlest sister how are you?" she asked, I curled my lip at her "Hell a lot better when your stank ass wasn't stinking up the place," I said hanging Dad's jacket up, Phoenix only laughed as she places a hand on my arm "You can't still be mad about what I did, can you?" she asked and by the way she was smiling she looked smug as fuck that I still was so angry about it. I gave her my best sugary smile, something that my southern mother would be proud of "Hardly" I say trying hard not to imagine what she would look like eating the hardwood flooring, she only smiled as she headed into the living room, I turn in enough time to catch her tripping and landing onto the floor with a solid and loud Thump I turn my head away slapping a hand over my mouth trying hard not to giggle. but all I could hear was Leo who seemed to be closest to me "OH! Nix did you trip?" he said sounding everything like a southern boy, followed by Max "Oh Nix, Did Satan try and call you home again?" she asked, all sugar and sweet, I closed my eyes fighting back tears as Pheonix was mocked. I blew out a breath as I turned back around and walked to the living room, helping Nix brush off whatever imaginary injuries she thought she had, "Nix, I do hope you're ok?" I asked, as I helped her, way to the low-cut shirt, she only waved us off, as she stood "Yes, Yes I am fine, just a simple accident" She said, without really looking back at us.
My eyes lift to find which of my siblings, took to avenging me and my honour, I looked to Leo but he was too giddy and wouldn't be able to stop himself from mocking her nor would he be able to hold himself back from high-fiving me, my eyes switch to Max who looked a little too smug for someone innocent in the incident, I stared at her long enough to force her eyes to find mine she only smiled and winked at me, before taking the dessert in my hands and walking away. I rolled my eyes playfully, as Leo offered me his arm "My Lady, Would you allow me to take you to your seat" he said in a rich posh accent, I only smiled wrapping my arm in his and nodding "Why yes, Kind Sir" I say mimicking his accent, as he pretended to be some kind of rich nobles as he walked me to my seat, we continued our song and dance, pulling out my chair and giving me time to sit before pushing me in. I only snigger, as I sit beside my dad resting my head on my hand, and giving him a bright smile "You were saying something about people trying to run your business" I say trying to pull him into a conversation with me, Dad give me a pointed look as he turn to look at him "Uh-huh, you're not trying to distract me are you Arc?" he asks, as he takes a sip of his water, I only smile and shake my head "Hardly, I just think it sounds interesting" I say, as Max places plates in front of dad and me. "Yeah, Dad! I want to hear about your day" Leo asks, as he takes his plate from Max, Dad turns his head to Leo his eyes squinting "Why do I feel like the pair of you are hiding something from me?" He says, his eyes bouncing between us, Leo looks at him innocence blinking back at him "What would we be hiding? It's not like Arc is pregnant" Leo says laughing, Dad laughs too, but I don't pause, only laughing when Dad and Leo look at me "Hahaha Yeah, Dad It's not like I'm pregnant" I say, reassuring them. I quickly take a bite of my food, following it with a sip of water, Leo freezes, and his eyes widen a little as he takes a sip of his water, Max slides in next to me "What are we talking about?" She asks, as she picks up a piece of crab, Dad shakes his head "Nothing apparently, But I think the twins are hiding something from me" Dad says biting into his crab leg. Leo turned to Max smiling and shaking his head "You know Dad, he's just being paranoid" Leo said, as he sipped his water, Max only nodded her head as she slid a tub of lemon and garlic dipping sauce down the table "Doesn't mean he's not right to be a paranoid brother" She says, as she licks off the sauce from her fingers. Leo only mocks her with his hand "' Doesn't mean he's not right Who's side are you on!" he asks his voice feigning hurt, I jump a little when his fist thumps off the table, and I jump again my head snapping to the far end of the table "Why must you all act like children!" Hades shouts, I roll my eyes turning my eyes to my plate "Maybe because we're not stuck up" Leo shouts back.

March 4th 1920 Saturday
Im new to the city. New York, Boston. I’m originally from, Louisiana. I moved to New York for a new start in life and needed to escape my family for awhile. I work as a singer in a speakeasy and I’ve met some of my now friends there. While I wasn’t on stage I was usually talking to my boss who also worked at the bar. His name was Tony and he was a very nice guy. As I was finishing my conversation with Tony, I realized a man way taller than me had been behind me just now. He caught my attention by saying “Can you buy me a drink, beautiful?” As I turned to see who was strangely flirting with me, I see a tall, and handsome man. He was a little pale with somewhat dark bags under his eyes, a soft smile and a pleasant look. He wore a pin striped suit, and what looked like very expensive jewelry. I ask curiously, “Why should I?” He responds softly with his face very close to mine “Because when I seen you I dropped my very expensive drink, dollface.” I smiled softly and looked up responding “Oh, I’m very sorry I’ll buy the drink for you.” Before I could grab my money and ask how much, he stops me and says, “I’m only teasing you doll, ill buy you one.” He says, but before I could tell him I can’t drink on my shifts, he yells for Tony saying, “Tony, I’ll buy her a drink and leave, she’s coming with me!” I felt confused on how he managed to get me a drink on my shift, but I thought not to question. (To Be Continued more than likely smut next chapter)

I'm currently working on a new book, the first in a series, but I'm not sure if it's something people will actually read.
Genres will be Romance and Mystery/Thriller
It takes place in the far future
The main characters are Latinx
LGBTQ+ characters
I'm trying to include diverse characters
Doesn't stereotype cultures, mental health, etc.
The overall story is about a set of triplets who are trying to balance rebuilding their family's business and creating something of their own with their partners; this is after humanity has rebuilt Earth and inhabited it. As the trio is doing so they start to realize a group of powerful people are trying to control most of everyone they associate with and their family. As they start to investigate people start to disappear or die all around them...

I have a lot of muse for a mafia book I'd love to write BUT I have a dilemma. I based the main character off of Vinnie Hacker so I'm debating on if I should keep it as Vinnie or change the last name and make it a different OC name 😭 I'm torn but I love love love the story I wrote out for him. I even made the book cover with V on it so hmmmmm

A NEW SERIE IM MAKING!!
Title: Love and Lies
Detective + singer (Ruthless diva)
(14) 16+ - "it's rated 16+ due to mature themes like violence, adult language, and sensitive topics. It’s intended for older teens who can handle complex subjects, but without explicit or overly graphic content."
Category: Psychological Thriller, Crime Fiction, Romantic Suspense, Drama, noir, Thriller.
Down you'll see what it's about!
UNDER CUT
The story follows a young, ambitious singer who is desperate for fame but doesn’t know how to get there. She’s been struggling in the shadows, overlooked and stuck in a life she can't escape. When she crosses paths with a ruthless mafia leader who offers her an easy way out, she doesn’t hesitate. His proposition? Steal from her parents to fund her dream, and in return, he’ll help her climb the ladder to superstardom. She does it, and true to his word, he helps her secure her place at the top.
But there’s a catch: he falls in love with her. She doesn’t feel the same way—he’s just a means to an end, someone too blinded by his own obsession with her to see the truth. He proposes, and she says yes—not out of love, but because his power guarantees her safety, wealth, and influence. The marriage is a business deal, and she uses him like a puppet, playing the role of a dutiful wife while secretly pursuing her own desires.
Years pass, and she becomes an untouchable icon. The number one singer, adored by millions, with a perfect life on the surface—fans worship her, and she has a boyfriend, but he means nothing. He's just a cover to keep people from knowing the truth: she’s married to a mafia kingpin. She’s cold, calculating, and ruthless. Money and power are her only true loves. She’s addicted to the thrill of her success, to the high of drugs and the feeling of being untouchable. She’ll do anything to keep it all.
But what she doesn’t know is that someone’s been watching her all along. A private detective, hired by someone from her past, has been following her every move. He knows about her theft, her dark dealings, and the lies she’s living. He’s been gathering evidence, waiting for the right moment to expose her.
As the story unfolds, the detective closes in on her, and she starts to feel the weight of her actions. Her perfect life begins to unravel as cracks start to appear in her empire of lies. The mafia husband she used to climb the ladder begins to show signs of losing control, and her relationship with him grows more toxic. She’s no longer sure if the man she’s married to is the one who’s protecting her or the one who might destroy everything she’s built.
Her addiction to money, fame, and power continues to grow, but so does the threat of exposure. The detective, having gathered enough evidence, is closing in. He knows she’s dangerous, and the more he uncovers about her, the more he realizes she’s willing to do whatever it takes to protect her empire, no matter who she destroys in the process.
The climax could reveal her slowly starting to lose control over her own life. As the detective prepares to confront her, she’ll have to make a choice: fight to keep her empire intact and risk everything, or come clean and face the consequences of her actions. Will the mafia kingpin still protect her, or will he finally turn on her when the truth comes to light? And in the end, will she learn that the cost of fame and power is higher than she ever imagined?
As the detective continues his covert investigation into the singer's life, he begins to observe more than just her criminal behavior. At first, he sees her as nothing more than a target, a person to be exposed for her actions. He’s hired by her parents, who want their money back and justice for what she’s done. But as the days go by, something unexpected happens—he starts to notice the little things that no one else sees.
It starts with the way she moves, the flicker of vulnerability in her eyes when she thinks no one is watching. He notices how, despite her cold exterior, she sometimes pauses before a performance, a moment of quiet hesitation where she seems like a lost girl rather than a star. He catches the way she tenses when a fan gets too close, or how she quickly hides her face in public, always careful to keep up her image. She’s guarded, always putting on a perfect façade, yet there's a sadness behind her smile, a loneliness that even her fame can’t fill.
But it’s more than just these small gestures. The detective sees the subtle kindnesses she shows to those she doesn’t have to—like when she quietly donates to a charity or the rare moments she lets her guard down with her few trusted people. He sees her addiction, her need for control, but he also sees her desperation. It’s as if she’s trapped in her own life, unable to escape the monster she’s become. She’s a prisoner of her fame, and despite all the power, wealth, and attention she has, she seems hollow.
There’s a moment that shakes him to the core—he’s following her one night, watching from a distance as she’s at a private gathering. He sees her laugh with her friends, a genuine laugh, and for the first time, the detective wonders: Is there anyone in her life who sees her for who she really is? In that moment, it dawns on him that maybe she’s not just a criminal, not just a cold, calculated person, but someone who’s been broken by the very system that made her successful.
He starts to empathize with her, maybe even pity her. The more he observes, the more he feels like he’s falling for the person he was supposed to expose. Her mask begins to slip, and he realizes that her evil might just be a consequence of a life she never really chose, of a need to survive in a world that doesn’t care about the cost of success.
Then, the twist deepens: the detective’s connection to her parents isn’t just professional—he’s a long-lost relative. Her parents, desperate to get their money back, knew he was the only one who could get close to her without her realizing his true intentions. His heart is torn. He wasn’t just hired to expose her; he was brought in because he’s connected to the very people she betrayed.
As the investigation goes deeper, so does his struggle. He can’t help but feel sympathy for her, and the line between right and wrong becomes blurred. He finds himself questioning his own motives—should he finish what he started and bring her down, or does she deserve a chance to redeem herself?
Her life starts to spiral in ways he hadn’t expected. Her mafia husband, who’s become increasingly paranoid, begins to notice the detective’s presence. In a moment of weakness, she confides in him, not knowing he’s the one who’s been following her. She tells him the truth about the man she married—the lies, the manipulation, the cost of it all. The detective is now caught between loyalty to his family, his growing feelings for her, and the realization that exposing her might destroy her completely.
In the end, he makes a decision. Instead of taking her down, he goes to her with a choice. He can expose her—destroy everything she’s built—or help her escape, but only if she’s willing to change. She’s at a crossroads too. Her addiction, her obsession with fame and money, has pushed everyone away, and now she’s left with nothing but the twisted life she’s built.
But the question remains: Can she change?
She’ll have to choose between redemption and keeping her empire. But can she truly escape the darkness she’s created for herself?

Chapter 1
I stared at the countertop, counting the flicks of different materials. So far, I counted five near the edge of the counter and six near the pregnancy box. I was counting a different set of flicks when my phone went off.
The timer finally lets out that annoying tune. I was terrified of the result; the pregnancy test sat upside down, and my hands trembled as I lifted the test right side. I didn't want to look, but I knew this moment would change my life and potentially countless others.
I could practically feel my heart in my throat; I flipped the test, and a soundless scream came out. There they were, two perfectly straight pink lines. How could this happen? I thought of every time we had sex. Had he slipped off the condom? Or had it burst? All the what-ifs ran through my head. I was meticulous in my birth control.
I turn and throw myself to the toilet, feeling the urge to be sick rise in my throat, and it bursts out. God, I hate being sick. I finish throwing up and start pulling myself out of the toilet when I hear knocking at the bathroom door.
I whip my head to the door, then to the counter. I swipe the pregnancy test off the counter, ripping open the cabinet door and throwing the test in, slamming it shut,
The bathroom door slowly opens, creaking. I turn to find Leo leaning on the door frame.
“Hey, Arc, how are you feeling?” he asks, walking into the bathroom and kneeling beside me. I jumped when he started to rub my back, and he started shushing me when I began to gag.
He got up and left the bathroom, only to return with a wet dish towel. He pulled me away from the toilet, and he slowly whipped my mouth to clean off the sickness from my mouth.
I groan. “God, I hate this!”. Leo laughs, lifting my right arm over his shoulder and pulling me up from the floor. “Yeah, I know you hate it”, he says, pulling me closer and letting me rest my head on his shoulder.
I blew out a breath, and Leo gagged. “God, Arc, don't fucking breathe on me”, he said, pulling me down the corridor, “Sorry,” I said, letting my head drop down, and he put me down on the couch.
He patted my shoulder, leaving me to return with a bin, a jar of honey, a tub of sugar, and a spoon. He scooped a spoonful of sugar and squirted some honey onto the spoon.
“Here, Arc, this will give you some sugar back,” he said, holding it close to my mouth. I shakily opened my mouth, letting him feed me the spoonful of sugar.
I grimace when the spoon clicks against my teeth; I suck on my front teeth trying to get rid of the sensation of the metal on my tooth; I blow out a breath again, making Leo gag.
“Man, I should have made you brush your teeth first,” he said, gagging over the bin. He got up and walked back into the kitchen. I could hear him shuffling around, opening and closing cabinet doors, and the tap turning on and off.
He came back with a glass of water and another damp towel. I barely mustered the strength to pull my arm up, but I managed. I could see it shake. I lift it, waiting for Leo to give me the damp towel.
“Not quite yet. I'm getting you a toothbrush and toothpaste 'cause Damn, your breath smells like death,” he said, placing the glass on the coffee table; he walked away, probably towards the bathroom, and he returned moments later with said toothbrush and toothpaste.
I had to let him brush my teeth, and I hated it. It felt awful that I couldn't do a basic task for myself. I wanted to scream my head off, but I sucked it up for the briefest of moments so that I could gather my strength back faster.
I spat some water into the bin, clearing my mouth of leftover toothpaste. Then, I leaned back onto the couch, feeling some weight lift off my back.
“Sooo… Arc Max is home today,” Leo says, sitting beside me and pulling the glass of water up for me to drink. I made a great face, which meant the rest of the family was coming for dinner.
“Don't pull that Face Arc. You know how happy he is when we’re together?” he said, holding the cup to my face and waiting for me to drink it. I sipped the water before I spoke.
“GOD, that means I need to make a fuck tone of food” I slump into the couch, trying to figure out a meal plan that could work out for all of us and would result in less bitching.
“Haha, don't think so, Arch. You're sick, and I don't need that, and neither does anyone else, " he said, placing the cup on the table. He then threw the comfiest couch pillow and the warmest blanket at me.
“Plus, I don't know if they are coming, especially since Dad knows,” he said. I rolled my eyes. I remember dinner, watching those two wander out of the bathroom together, her looking dishevelled and him with the look I knew all too well.
I Gagged again. Leo kicked the bin under me while I threw up again, and I whipped my mouth, fighting the urge to throw up once more. I blew out my breath, and Leo patted me on the back. I tried to wave him off, but my hand only hit the bucket instead, nearly sending the bucket of vomit flying.
“OH FUCK” Leo shouted, shooting his hand out to stop the bucket from tipping over, “Arc be careful. I don't want to be cleaning up your sick,” he said, standing.
I look towards the door, hearing a set of keys jingling. Leo turns towards the door, and we watch as the door swings open, revealing our sister, Max. Leo turns and whispers, “You are spooky when you do that.” I laugh and whisper, “I heard the keys at the door.” He looks at me like I’m nuts.
I shrug my shoulders and attempt to get up, but Leo grabs my shoulder and pulls me back. “Nope, sit back down. I’ll help Max.” Patting me on the shoulder and using me as a push-off point, I lay back on the couch.
Pulling the blanket back down on top of me, I am listening to Max and Leo talk shit in the kitchen. I laugh when Max says something about not doing something right, and then I bolt straight up; I had to hide the pregnancy test and the box before someone found it. I wrapped my blanket tighter around myself and pulled myself up into a sitting position, taking a moment when the room decided it would be great to start spinning. Before standing up, I crept out of the living room into the hall and the bathroom. I bent down, feeling the urge to throw up coming back to me, but I did what I could to swallow the urge to vomit again. I carefully pull open the cabinet door, stopping it halfway before it creaks. I shuffle around, trying to find both the test and the box. I dry heave a little as I move a few bottles of soap and spare period products. “I guess I won’t be needing those anymore,” I mutter as I find the box hidden in the far reaches of the cabinet. I pull the box out haphazardly, nearly dropping it when I hear Max’s voice. “Arc, Leo just told me you threw up at school. Are you ok?” she asks as she pushes the door open, revealing herself in her military uniform. I peek from over the cabinet, giving her a quick smile as I try and stuff the box into the inside of my trousers, flipping my top over it, “Yeah, Yeah, I’m fine”, I say, as I close the cabinet door “I was looking for those anti-sick pills dad keeps on hand” I say, trying to come up with a believable lie. Max nodded her head as she walked into the bathroom, forcing me to take several steps back. I did not want her to see the non-existent bump that I had, as if my eldest sister had X-ray vision and could see the little secret I had hidden under my clothes. I watched as she pulled at the drawer on the counter, flicking through it before a triumphant “Ah-ha,” turning around and handing me a little packet. “Arc, why would you look for them in the cabinet rather than the drawer, where they usually are?” she asks. I reach out and take the packet; I shrug my shoulders before I answer, “I guess I didn’t see them, and my next logical step was to check the cabinet”, I say, giving her a quick smile. Max squinted her eyes at me, giving me a once over before she walked out of the bathroom, she paused by the doorway turning her head to me, “You know you can talk to me about anything, right?” she asked quietly, I knew what she was talking about and it broke my heart a little, I didn’t like talking about him, let alone her on a good day and especially not right now. I give her a weak smile and say, “Yeah, I know.” I wrap the blanket around me tighter, take a moment, and give her one of my fake smiles. “You better go and help Leo before he burns down the kitchen. Dad put him on a permanent hiatus from cooking since the noodles incident,” I say. Max gave me a curious look before we heard a clatter and a bang, followed by Leo shouting, “Everything is fine, and nothing is on fire”.

"The Mafia. The cold, power hungry, bloodlusted, merciless and unfeeling, mafia."
Those words were uttered by none other than the newly acquainted regular that sat to the far end of the dining room, whom had nothing more than a piping hot cup of green tea atop his table. He wore a large coat over a his peeking dress shirt, his tall, black leather boots were so polished that they looked as if he were wearing mirrors, and his hair was slicked back from his face.
Sorin stared blankly into Lesta's eyes, clutching the tray that rested the kettle, the sugar jar and the milk jug; he was unnerved.
"So what is it you're trying to say? That I should be scared..?"
Lesta looked away from Sorin's face, and glued his eyes to his name tag; Lesta smirked and said, "It's not that, it's the fact that you wear that name tag so proudly. That you should be scared of."
Sorin tilted his head as he lifted the tray off of the table, trying to subtly distance himself from this enigma.
"Excuse me..?"
"*sigh* Look, 'Sorin', you're not who you think you are; I would know the real you because we've met before."
Lesta, calf over thigh, reached for his cup of tea. Before Sorin could question, Lesta, with the rim up to his lips, continued, "I was there when you graduated, when you started applying for university, when your father died...,".
Lesta paused as he took a sip, the suspense as painful as the itch in Sorin's hollow socket.
"..And when you lost your eye..."
Sorin blinked twice. Does this man really know that much about me?, he thought, anxiety swelling within his chest. But as he really thought about it, not only did he not know himself what became of these events, but he was also blocked off from knowing about them entirely.
Up until now, the only memories he recalled were not ones he made himself, but of the things his family and friends let him in on; he was storing information without any reference to call his own.
He would wake up every day with dreams of his childhood self, knowing not a thing about what he wanted to be back then, the friends he made or lost, the faces of classmates and teachers, nor how old he was when his father died.
And as he looked long and hard at his clutched tray, trying to push down these doubts, he couldn't resist the urge to ask:
"Who are you really, Lesta..?"
