Me: Ok it’s time to work on something productive!!

My brain: ok but what if we didn’t do that actually *develops crossover and writes a spin-off AU with details down to the mechanics of each animatronic*

Anyway what if Mystery Skulls DCA crossover?

Close-ups and more info under the cut bc I’m brainrotting real hard about this:

So with this crossover (AU??) the story is mostly the same as the Mystery Skulls animated series, but with a few changes.

The gang all worked together in theater production; Sun and Moon were performers just like in canon SB, while Y/N and mini djmm were behind the scenes, doing tech, organizing events, etc. However, the crew also loved to go exploring, and Y/N, being heavily interested in the paranormal, usually led “investigations” into haunted locations. This was all for funsies and frankly, the boys just had fun going out and observing.

One night they go to an abandoned cave and get separated, and due to a… malfunction… in Sunny’s arm, he pushes Moon off a nearby cliff, tearing the poor bot to shreds. But! Whatever force that amplified the glitch in Sun also allowed for Moon’s will to stay alive and wrath to seek revenge on sun to strengthen, and eventually revive his sentient ai, piecing himself back together as best he can, with the rest of him materializing into a new body. Eventually, Djmm finds Sun and rips his infected arm from his socket, which brings Sun back to reality.

Sun doesn’t remember any of this except for Djmm tearing his arm away, and Y/N barely remembers Moon at all. In fact, all they know is Sun had a theater partner once, but one day they just vanished. Sun… doesn’t like to talk about it. He grows depressed, long after he gets repaired, and soon after stops performing to look for Moon full-time.

When he realized Y/N didn’t remember anything, he was conflicted. Confused. But once he realized he couldn’t seem to jog their memory, he kind of kept the events a secret from them. Not for his sake, no, but because he knew Y/N would blame themselves if they ever found out one of their silly escapades resulted in the death of someone so dear to them all.

Also for those interested, yes I designed Djmm with Mystery’s transformation in mind, here are some chicken scratch sketches I saved while I was figuring out their look:

Hii hii!! Not sure if your asks are open per se? But I’ll shoot something over anyways! Don’t feel pressured to respond ^^ (these are gonna be relating to your fnaf:sb au!!!)

Firstly, what inspired you to give the DCA a frozen half mask? I honestly find it to be SUCH a cool design choice and I wanna know your design process! :D

Secondly (DCA related again </3), what’s your interpretation on Eclipse within your universe? Do they exist? Are they a third entity, a combination of Sun and Moon, a security program with no learning AI, or perhaps something else entirely? I’d love to hear your thoughts! (Personally I interpret them as a combination/security program :0!)

Lastly (yes… once more… DCA related…), do you have any fun facts about Sun, Moon, and Chica’s friendship that you’ve been itching to share? Or haven’t gotten the chance to touch on yet? This AU honestly made me grow really attached to the idea of the DCA and Glam Chica being friends! It’s so so SO sweet!

GOLLY HI!!! Sorry, I didn't see this till now! I'm so glad you're enjoying my stuff, thank you!!! I don't have a name for this "AU" since it kinda started as just this series of snippets of the DCA and Chica being besties and then it started bleeding into all the feelings I had about SB's corporate horror subtext and all of the assumptions I'd had about the direction they would take the story after Help Wanted, and now it's kind of a….retelling-slash-one off comics story. If you or anybody else has name ideas for this on-going saga I'd love to hear them so that I could put it all in a dedicated tag! Now that I've got that ramble out of the way I'll answer your questions! (I lied I'm gonna ramble more cuz I'm really good at it ksfdlnlksdfnlksndf)

1) I have a tendency to redesign characters a bit when I make fan art because trying to stay on model to the original design makes my art come out a bit stiff. I'd seen a lot of fan art for the DCA where they had their whole mouth move, but with the way their faces have a "moon" side, it made me think of a Phantom of the Opera mask. Then I heard that in the Pizzaplex books they were apparently a theater robot that was repurposed for the daycare, so I just decided to lean into it! I've been playing with the idea of making the eye holes on Sun and Moon's mask different to mimic the tragedy/comedy masks!

2) Ooooh the security program is an interesting idea!!! So, I don't know how actual programming stuff works. And since I believe that the robots in FNAF have been sentient since Sister Location, meaning that they've been advancing robo sentience in-universe further for years, I tend to play around with the sentience and the programming fighting with each other at times. When it comes to what I think Eclipse is…. I'm actually gonna put that under a spoiler because it's something I've been teasing at and I can't keep story secrets to save my life, so you can look at that answer ~ at your own risk oooOOOooooOOOooo ~ Now. To answer the third point and give you that Eclipse spoiler. I need to add it in a reblog. Because I was writing out this whole thing....and I wrote so much that I hit the text limit. Which I have never done before. Which also freaked Tumblr out and it wouldn't let me post this no matter how much I erased. Heya, I absolutely adore the Project designs for the Bethroned cast and was wondering if you had any tips on how to Oc-ify the DCA? (Not sure how to word it-) no pressure to answer of course, just looking for some advice if you can!

Haha oh jeez uh.. hm! Best advice I can give is to change their silhouette. So like

They look like they have similar inspirations, but they dont look like the same character or like theyre even from the same series! Does that make sense?

now these two have a bit of a complicated thing going on :P they used to be normal attendants, but there was an accident and they got all weird

Bloodmoon is kinda delusional, and acts as if he is some kind of royalty. hes a weird little freak and an asshole. True eclipse is very spacey and often doesn’t know whats going on around him, but does whatever Bloodmoon says without question .

he may not show it much, but Bloodmoon is very worried about True, and is constantly fussing over him when theyre alone

True is also almost completely mute, but when he does speak its only when hes alone with Bloodmoon. this is still very rare tho

Have a art dump from yesterday since it was my last day of school yesterday and now I am on summer vacay (sunny boy is a dca ripoff my friend made randomly and I love him very much hehe) and dont take the last moon seriously ofc he's just a little in the clouds (⁠.⁠ ⁠❛⁠ ⁠ᴗ⁠ ⁠❛⁠.⁠)

Yippee‼️‼️ I am going to be properly working on my aus now and will most likely start posting the first one by late next week(Thursday-Sunday)

I guess that means I have to make a posting schedule for each of my aus uh oh

Aus I will be working on:

Celestial tide extravaganza- moon and sun are in charge of a water park and they find yn who is a merperson woahh, and the guys keep them there by pretending like they're a new mermaid attraction that helps out(this au wont have any lore it is only for shenanigans (⁠人⁠ ⁠•͈⁠ᴗ⁠•͈⁠))

Shattered shadows at bay- sun and moon are cryptic(?) like entities that took over a discarded animatronic body (the regular dca body) and they integrated themselves into society, working at a daycare! Since they don't need to charge they stay awake at all times and they don't necessarily have anything they do during their free time so they start a series of killings that only target at people that harm children and they meet yn who is a frequent parent at their daycare and the three quickly become friends! Each having secrets of their own ofc (⁠｡⁠•̀⁠ᴗ⁠-⁠)⁠✧

Starlights galore- sun and moon are performers for the faz co company, eclipse ran away from the company which led to faz making sun and moon. Yn was tasked to decommission the pair by a unknown source and masks themselves as a prop/costume designer + handler for the boys!(They have a strict deadline of a year) Sun and moon are aware there is someone trying to deactivate them so they are trying their best to escape from the company like their older model did so they can pursue personal passions and live a life of peace. Maybe their new friend can help them with their escape plan!(⁠✯⁠ᴗ⁠✯⁠)

Sorry for this info dump here ik this was supposed to be a art post but I would like to get this out of the way so when I start posting my aus people can come here to get a idea of what I'm doing (⁠ﾉ⁠◕⁠ヮ⁠◕⁠)⁠ﾉ⁠*⁠.⁠✧

I need to read up more on Stardust Arcade but man I l o v e Novas design. You did a wonderful job with them!!

Thank you! I will say I enjoy his palette quite a bit. Even though it was a pain to fish out. His design is actually based on his old concept. The Tsams lunar eclipse hybrid. Although arcade Nova has really grown into it better. My favorite thing about him is his whole backward DCA design. Makes me smile even though I forget it all the time.

Hopefully you'll have time to read up on Stardust Arcade sometime. The ask series is always there. And hopefully whenever I get the motivation. I will condense all those asks into a little story on archive. But that all comes later.

also, extra pieces of information that I thought would be cool; Sunna's eyes, bracelet, and belt change colors with their lives. (although I think for red life I'll give them a black belt instead since the skirt's already red) Their locket, on the other hand, shows what life Meno is on! It turns gray immediately after this scene ^_^

the ribbon also shows their lives. the yellow being Sunna's life color and red being Meno's.

also !! since Meno was the one to wither away (if I'm remembering correctly LOL), I gave them the black patterns as a sort of scar from the death.

UWAAAAA THIS IS AWESOME YIPPEE YIPPEE YAYYY, they look so cool <3 I LOVE the colour changing thingies. It's also fun to see a version of Meno with red, because the first design of Meno actually had red on them. I couldn't get it to look right, so I left out any red. Cool to see now

Undertale started it all I was an anime kid before that

Cup head hit me right in the head and directed me to a more cartoony path that I’ll probably be dying on

Stick figure fandom taught me dynamic poses(and drawing ball faces but that’s not really a positive aspect in the long run XD)

Selling adopts taught me character design

Edds world… made hoodies my default clothing to draw :’)

Rottmnt had some crazy talented artists at the time I learned a lot about colors and shape language

Was in the Animaniacs fandom for a while, it made my style even more cartoony more rubberhose

Learned my lineart from comic books specifically the IDW tmnt series Jennika special I adore that art I was reading it under microscope

My backgrounds are highly inspired by Hilda

I learned a shit ton about illustration composition and color theories while hyperfixating on Ink sans

DCA fandom trained my storytelling skill, i came up with so many interesting concepts and made a ton of comics

🌛- Do you prefer the DCA in your AU to be biblically accurate or blorbofied?

Oooh that's a hard one, actually. I think it really depends on a lot of factors—I think having them blorbofied makes it a LOT easier to handwave things, but Biblically Accurate is a FUN challenge since they’re so limited on ways they can express emotions outside of tone and body language.

I think in all the AUs I partake in and the couple I’ve thought up I prefer the blorbo style, but for The Color of Your Eyes (TCoYE) I will likely stick with Biblically Accurate for a good while since I love the restrictions it brings—and one huge theme for that AU/story is how love and affection is expressed in a multitude of ways (both to the self and to others), especially when the reader discovers that they are not quite as human as they once thought :)

For The Color of Your Eyes:

The reader is the manager of the Superstar Daycare and has been working there for as long as they can remember! Their first job, in fact, though it’s odd that they don’t seem to recognize other people who have also been there for years… huh, that’s a little odd, isn’t it? Well, at least Sun and Moon really enjoy your company c:

Star-Crossed by @solar-synapse is a beautiful AU that I will never suggest enough of tbh, if you want a wild ride and some excellent character writing then check it out!

Abyssal Lights by @phoenixdaneko is a classic Mer AU with a neat twist—the reader is a mer themselves! Phoenix does a lovely job in pulling you into the events and I’m always weak to Mer AUs (there’s also several other fics by her and they are EXCELLENT so definitely peek around when you’re done)

The Personal Care Unit series by @justaduckarts is so cute and adorable where Sun and Moon are personal caretakers for the reader and it’s so fucking cute. The link is to what is already posted—smut, but delicious smut—but I’d definitely subscribe to the AO3 to be alerted for more!

Oh oh and I also must mention Lost in the Astral Seas by @cosmicfleurs, it’s another Mer AU but the designs for the boys are so good and I’m not sure if there’s a fic yet for it (please correct me bc I must read it immediately) but I absolutely suggest taking a peek at those gorgeous designs and giving a follow!!

Also, because I hate the number 4 and also bc it’s a team effort, the Digimon AU between myself, @solar-synapse, @armoondrop and @phoenixdaneko is just so much fun—in the planning stage mostly, but I just wanted to shout you guys out for this awesome concept c:
