One of the hardest and most tedious things to simulate in strategy games is corruption. Because corruption exists and it's a major factor in the underdevelopment of many countries (it also exists in the first world, it's called 'lobbying') and it sucks, but there's really no way to simulate it properly, in game terms it's just a debuff that fucking sucks and takes away your country's potential and resources without any benefit and takes tedious mechanics and long timers to get rid off. Just like in real life.

For a player, of course, being corrupt makes no sense. Even if I try to simulate something as historically as possible, I try to 'win', so why should I use my country's resources in something that's not improving it? That's stupid. If only more people thought like that in real life, but you know.

So my proposal to simulate corruption in strategy games is to let the player actually use in-game funds and resources to buy really nice houses, cars, supermodels according to their taste, those fucking rolexes, etc., as like a shopping mini-game and it has an effect in game, raising the corruption meter which makes your country go worse, and if you want to buy more, you have to send your country reserves into fiscal paradises, sell your natural resources to foreign companies and stuff. But you can't resist, can't you? You WANT to buy that mansion PNG, you WANT to date that fake supermodel waifu, don't you? You can, if you just sell one state service or two.

Ι saw your response to the ask about how you write your plots and just wanted to ask what program you use to write (and keep track of things) because seriously the fact that you are managing to keep track of 10??? plots is so impressive (and your writing is a gift!!!)

i switched to obsidian sometime after i finished cyanide! it has a lot of interesting stuff but quite frankly i only use it like a regular notepad just one that lets me open tabs and create folders. the only downside to leaving google docs is that i can no longer write on the go on my phone (google drive), but like- i hardly did that anyway. if i do come up w smth i just put it in the notes app n then transcribe it

i'm a pretty fast typer so that's never been an issue hahaha the perks of being able to type blind is that i can just look at the notes and type as i read LMAO

anyway yeah! obsidian has graphs and stuff, but like i said, i don't really use them? it's all notes and text. so if you're a bit wrong in the head like me you could just make do with google docs (or whatever else you use) and a notepad opened to the side tbh it's pretty much what i do

wrangling the 10+ simultaneous plotlines is more my brain knowing no peace than it is obsidian honestly even though it likely would be so much easier if i sucked it up and learned how the graphs work hahah;,,
