In a world of Chaos. A Nameless Hero rises.
Tumblr media
Dynasty Warriors Origins trailer dropped and here I am already doing fanart
I’m going bonkers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lü Bu been going from edgy shonen villain to Paladin of Conquest/Oathbreaker Paladin vibes in 9 and onwards and I absolutely love it.
And Cao Cao has been waxed. I repeat, Cao Cao has been waxed.
I’m seriously considering putting on a tinfoil hat and share my speculations.
I’ve given myself the goal to 100% Wo Long and see if I can try out the other Dynasty Warriors titles until Origins comes out. The funny thing is I was often thinking “Omg a Dynasty Warriors X Wo Long esque game would literally make me explode!”… So um… *explodes*

this description gives me more questions than it answers.. how will they make food a meaningful mechanic? it's a cozy game so i don't think there will be a hunger bar or starvation or anything like that, but what's motivating the players to spend their time making food instead of doing anything else? it's not like they will need buffs for fighting monsters or anything like that. what is the story of the game, and how does it progress? what are the skills used for?
the most confusing part is the daily missions. i don't like cozy games, but the one thing they have going for them is that they aren't stressful to play. why would a cozy game have guilds and login bonuses? those are the most stressful parts of every modern game. this isn't an online game, is it? or does "daily mission" purely refer to in-game time..?

A couple things to note.
First of all, when Rook pushes down the statue and Solas protects himself (and Varric) from the falling rock, he pushes AWAY from himself. He has the blade in hand, and Varric is standing right behind him. Rook is standing basically on the complete opposite side of Solas.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We see the rubble land near Rook, but then somehow in the next clip, Rook is BEHIND Solas on the stairs. Varric and the lyrium blade are nowhere to be seen. (The previous screenshot of Solas with the blade in hand is the last shot we see of him with the blade in this teaser. The next time we see him, which is the screenshot below, he doesn't have it.)
Tumblr media
Something else I'll point out is the layout of this place. In the above screenshot, Rook is clearly at the base of the stairs. However, let's take a look at these two shots.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The one on the left is from earlier in the reveal, when Varric is talking to Solas. Pay specific attention to the Dread Wolf statue's placement here. In the second shot on the right, that same Dread Wolf statue is a landmark that gives us a clue to Rook's position. He's quite a ways off from the statue, and if you'll notice, there's a lot more wooden walkway and railings in front of him that we don't see in the first clip. He still has quite a ways to go before he can make it to the base of the stairs, where we see him in the screenshot of Solas looking down at him.
I think this is a clear enough indication that some clips from the cutscene were cut - most likely because they contain big spoilers. So that got me thinking. What are some spoilers big enough to warrant cutting? Here are some ideas I had:
Varric dying 😭 The death flags are everywhere people. Rook looks pissed off, and Solas looks... sad. When he looks up at the evanuris, he has a tear on his cheek (well, it could be a water droplet I guess but it's so perfectly placed to look like a teardrop that I don't think that's a mistake)
Solas turns to Varric for help. I think it would be too much in this little showcase to show more of Solas's moral ambiguity than we've already seen, so I could see them cutting a moment where Solas turns to Varric, gives him the lyrium blade, and tells him to KEEP IT SAFE.
The Inquisitor shows up?? I don't know how likely this is BUT it would make sense that if the inquisitor is there they wouldn't show it in the showcase. Because a) that's a HUGE moment you wouldn't want to experience without your own inquisitor and b) they'd have to pause and give a note like "this is a customizable inquisitor" which would slow down the action a lot lol.
Any other ideas of what could've happened in that cut? 👀
Second of all, at the very last second of the trailer, you can see Solas being propelled forward, into the fade through the tear he made.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you notice in the first picture, his feet are firmly planted. If you watch the scene, the glow around the fade starts to speed up, like it's being pulled toward the rip, and then the last second you see Solas's feet lift slightly off the ground. Now I don't think he's charging or anything. He's already super close to these two so it's not like he's going to run towards them in order to attack. He's DEFINITELY going into the fade. There are two possibilities here.
Going into the fade against his will
Going into the fade on purpose
If he's going into the fade against his will, it could be that the gods who just showed up are dragging him in there, or perhaps because the ritual was disrupted it's gone wonky and is pulling him (or all three) in.
If he's going in on purpose, he could be dragging the gods into the fade with him in a last ditch effort to prevent them from being unleashed on the world, where he may try to fight them and defeat them inside the fade. IF this is the case, I could see the prediction of Solas giving Varric the lyrium blade working out quite nicely. He could realize the gods are going to be coming back, so he gives Varric the blade, tells him to keep it safe, and he's going to try to trap the returned gods inside the fade.

I cringed my way through yesterday’s livestream and I think I am finally officially on board for this pack (after being hyped at the initial leaks / roadmap, then disappointed by lackluster trailers). I don’t think we’re in for a lackluster pack, I think they’re just reallyreally bad at marketing / explaining this particular kind of EP.
if it seems like the main features of this pack are the dating app and costume box, that’s on them 🤦🏼‍♀️ but there’s so much more that I am (finally) getting excited to dig into, like:
likes and dislikes and turn ons and turn offs being two separate (but similar) systems — I love that this means a sim can be attracted to something that doesn’t align with their platonic interaction preferences, like “I hate that this is doing it for me” 🫣
the turn ons and turn offs system in general! most of* the must-haves seem to be there and the options will be really fun to build characters or gameplay around (the turned on by Broke but Affectionate Arts & Crafts Slacker sims to “Why do I keep dating these losers?” pipeline or the black widow challenge with the Wealthy turn on???)
the specificity of the romantic boundaries system (technically coming to Basegame but still shouting it out) as well as the option to have it change over time based on dialog in game
the MWS of it all makes me nervous not gonna lie but truly customizable dates, e.g. with everything from “be funny” to woohoo available for get to know you-type dates, holds a lot of potential for fresh gameplay in an event that hopefully happens more than once a generation in most people’s games
autonomous breakups and divorce (!!!)
Ciudad Enamorada being based on a single culture (and not an amalgamation of cultures like Jungle Adventure) and working with Mexican creators to build the lots
telenovelas and reality dating tv 🫶🏻
the return of the vibrating heart bed and the attention to detail that the vibration makes sims’ voices change
lips couch lips couch lips couch 🫦
bed canopies! can’t wait to play with all the combos and always nice to have a new way to make old items feel fresh (like the decor pillow item(s) have done with old couches!)
juliette balcony with a shelf slot for outdoor plaaaaants 🥹
all the little cultural decor pieces I can’t wait to get a closer look at
aaaand for balance, here are some things I’m a lil disappointed about:
I’ve complained about this before and it’s pretty trivial but every neighborhood, lot, etc having an easily translatable Spanish word or phrase as its name feels like really lazy / shallow / cartoony world-building
all this progress in separating woohoo from courtship but still needing to have a super cheesy sheepish first kiss before you can move any further physically 😑
no catfishing (but catfish costume?)
no eye color option as a turn on / turn off 🥲
sorry but the plain version of the woohoo blanket looks like dogshit
all the colorful stucco (?) buildings in the historic neighborhood look suuuuper flat which really emphasizes the empty shellness of it all
modern black vinyl windows in otherwise very traditional window casings — imo they pretty well ruined Horse Ranch build mode with this exact move (unless you like 🤢… modern farmhouses) and now they’ve gone and done it to another pack 😭 definitely not helping how flat the world looks either

Its a new dawn, its a new day, its a new DLC Trailer! And man, there is so much happening in this one, its exciting!!
So my egg theory definitely fell short, but its cute that we can couple up our followers now -all those New Lover pop ups and romance sidequests will not be for naught 🥺
Now, here are some things that I couldn't help but pause and look closely at. To save all our feeds, more under the cut! Because I have a lot of thoughts.
Tumblr media
Frist, Temple Upgrade! Which is such a breath of fresh air, look at those lamb statues and arches. It seems that this interior may also adapt to rituals too, unless it's completely customizable. Shown with the skulls and decor of this moment of a new...cannibalization ritual? (also hi Sozo)
Tumblr media
Though speaking of Rituals! This curious second in the trailer, is rather similar to how the Bishops garner power before we fight them, don't you think? Looking at the eyes of the "sacrifice", and the stabbing animations of the followers. A very costly ritual with at least 5-6 sacrifices.
Tumblr media
Can we make our followers akin to Witnesses? Champions, upgraded demons, or companion characters while we crusade? It would be a useful feature for us, but...it doesn't seem to be a long term asset. Perhaps there's a limit if we do this to the same follower, over, and over, and over again?
Tumblr media
But how do we gain access to such rituals I wonder? Well, it would probably have to do with this nifty triple spiked crown tablet that we find! Likely at a cost of our own HP (or a followers?). Which I imagine may come hand in hand with upgrading our temple building! And that snake ritual we see in the beginning.
Tumblr media
Overall, very interesting content to be had in our next update! I hope that the team has also written a possible narrative for upgrading our temple, getting new tablets, and getting our boy Sozo back.

I'm not going to say Dragon Age is super dark and serious, because I played every game in the series, but I will say the teaser trailer was more suited for a fighting game.
Which I'm not a fighting game person but I do think there would be fans lining up for a soulcalesque fighting game for all the Dragon Age companions, book/movie characters, and the different heros could be the customizable options. It would also allow for a codex of information to be provided about each character and the story they're a part of.
I wouldn't play it but I wouldn't harp on anyone who would play it. I'd love to see Varric do a short range shot, stab them with bianca's hidden blade, and boot them off the stage for a "ring out"

New BioWare Blog post:
"Journal #6 Lethality and Levelling An inside look into Rook’s Warrior combat Hello everyone, Since our summer reveal in June, we’ve been reading all the great excitement for the game and listening closely to what you’d like to see next. Our reveal trailer showed off the prologue and very beginning of the game, and now we want to shift our focus to higher level combat. Today, we’re going to cover our game’s combat system, looking at how Rook and Companions can be built up to meet the perils facing Thedas, using deep RPG systems. This starts with choosing a desired class as there are three main classes to select from when creating Rook: stalwart Warrior, deft Rogue, or spell-slinging Mage. This blog and accompanying videos will focus on the Warrior class, and we’ll have more to share on the other classes before launch."
"PREPARE FOR BATTLE By choosing Warrior, the fighting style revolves around close range combat and defense. Skills, Traits, Runes, and Abilities are customizable to best suit that type of playstyle. The loadout will have slots for Abilities, accessed from the Ability Wheel. Picking which Abilities from the many in the arsenal to bring into battle is a strategic choice made for each encounter, and they can be swapped out anytime, except during combat. For some added depth, there are up to three equipable Runes. Runes provide a variety of control, utility, or additional damage to synergize with your build. While in combat, all three Runes can be cycled through and activated. There are a wide range of potential Abilities that are unique to each Class and can be customized by spending Skill Points. For example, the Warrior class will have certain abilities that deal fire damage. Players can plan their build around this, and each skill point spent could be in pursuit of this build. Each step taken is designed to augment Rook and/or Abilities. Eventually, Rook will gain access to Specializations, which grant powerful Abilities, unique to each Specialization. These Specializations will also provide a unique Ultimate Ability (more on that later below) tuned to the theme of that Specialization, so a Warrior specializing as a Grey Warden Champion will gain access to the devastating incendiary Warden’s Fire that launches a flurry of searing strikes that ignite foes like tinder. This is the best Specialization Area for defeating darkspawn, an enemy that many Dragon Age fans know well. Check out all the Specialization Areas below (minor gameplay spoilers) and we’ll have a separate spotlight on progression later as well."
"Warrior Rook Specialization Areas: Reaper - Become night's blade. Steal life and risk death to gain incredible, unnatural abilities Slayer - Leap into the fray. Wield massive, punishing weapons while rushing enemies to deal devastating blows. Champion - Be the shield. Shrug off damage while summoning righteous fire down on enemies. Rogue Rook Specialization Areas: Duelist - Draw your steel. Parry and dodge past enemies to gain strength with every strike. Saboteur - Set the stage. Deploy explosives and turrets that devastate enemies, then pick them off with arrows. Veil Ranger - Hunt the enemy. Snipe enemies from afar using artifacts that charge arrows with dangerous, powerful magic. Mage Rook Specialization Areas: Death Caller - Embrace the dark. Drain life from enemies and cast spells that writhe with the essence of death itself Evoker - Call the void. Freeze enemies in their tracks, then summon the deepest cold to tear them apart. Spellblade - Be the storm. Channel potent spells for close-quarters combat infused with lightning's wrath."
COMBAT BASICS Now let’s talk about the foundations of the combat system. The four core moves that all three classes share include jump, dodge, light attack, and heavy attack, which can all be chained together. Rook can dodge at any time, even mid-attack, which adds fluidity to the combat. Is taking damage or dealing it better at that moment? Light attacks do quick damage and build small amounts of stagger; heavier attacks are slower and build more stagger to your opponent. Once enough stagger is built, the enemy will be rendered more vulnerable to all incoming damage and allows Rook to perform a takedown.  Each of these attacks (light and heavy) can be charged by holding down the button to deliver a more potent version of the strike. For example, a heavy attack can be charged while using a staff to unleash a magical wave of destructive energy. Attacks can also be triggered while sprinting and/or jumping to add depth and fluidity to combat. In addition, each class has ranged attacks, blocks (or parries, if timed properly with the right weapon set), and the ability to control Companions’ combat strategy. Each Class also has two distinct weapon sets, which can be swapped seamlessly in the heat of battle. This drastically changes the available move-sets and strategies. Heavy attacks remove Armor Barrier (denoted by a yellow bar) faster, and ranged attacks remove Shield Barrier (denoted by a blue bar) faster. There is also the Stagger meter (denoted by a lavender bar) which builds as hits are landed against an enemy. Stagger creates opportunities for bonus damage and special Takedowns.  The Ability Wheel pauses the fight for more precise control over Rook’s own abilities and those of their Companions, and where those tactical RPG elements come into play. Players can use the Ability Wheel to assign Companions to attack specific enemies, individually or together. Abilities can also be bound shortcut keys to keep the action flow going, instead of always bringing up the Ability Wheel. Vulnerabilities and resistances of enemies can also be seen while targeting enemies in the Ability Wheel. For example, Darkspawn are weak to fire damage."
"BUFFS, DEBUFFS & CROWD CONTROL Some Abilities apply buffs or debuffs to help you in the fight. For example, Davrin has the Heroic Strike Ability which applies the Overwhelmed debuff to enemies. This will increase the enemies’ Stagger and make it easier for Rook to perform a Takedown. There are also Area of Effect Abilities to help the party defeat large groups of enemies. Controlling the field of battle is a key consideration in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Players will need to consider which buffs/debuffs or crowd control Abilities will work best for each situation.   Abilities require Class Resources (Mana, Momentum & Rage) to be able to use. Each class primarily builds up their Class Resource by dealing damage with basic attacks. In addition, each class has a secondary way to build their Class Resource - Warriors build Rage by taking and dealing damage, Rogues build Momentum by dodging attacks and parrying successfully, and Mages regain Mana passively over time.   Warriors who go into battle with a sword-and-shield build, will have access to the Shield Throw Volley. By landing a Heavy Attack on a Shield Throw return, the shield will ricochet, taking out multiple enemies. This sequence can repeat up to three times, causing a devastating ring of damage around Rook. This attack works well against swarms as well as distant adversaries. Other ways to manage distant enemies lean into Companion abilities, such as Davrin’s Death from Above to send Assan, his griffon, to attack enemies. Warriors also have the Grappling Spear Ability to pull enemies close for an easier victory. With these tools, attacks can be chosen based on the type of enemy and the situation to dispatch foes in the most optimal way, especially on higher difficulties."
"PRIMERS, DETONATORS & ULTIMATES Many Abilities include some type of coordinating effect and serve as either a Primer or a Detonator that can result in devastating combo attacks when properly executed with the Companions. These Ability combos can be set up in the Ability Wheel.  Finally, you have your most powerful attack: Rook’s Class Ultimate Ability. Doing damage to enemies increases your Ultimate Meter. The Ultimate Meter won’t fully fill during smaller skirmishes, because they are designed to decimate a significant swath of the battlefield or the toughest bosses.  All of these options combine together to create a rich combat experience that is highly customizable. The entire Skill Tree is also fully refundable, and Skill Points can be redistributed. We encourage you to try out multiple builds, use different Abilities for each mission, and change up the Companions you bring into battle. These videos have highlighted several of the ways that players can achieve strategic combat in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. We’ve put them all together in case you wanted to see them back-to-back. Check out the full video below! there’s a lot to explore in the game and a lot more to talk about. We’ll have more to share on the Rogue and Mage before launch, as well. Next week, we look forward to companions week, along with another Discord Q&A planned for August 30th where we can answer more of your questions about the game. Chat soon!             — The Dragon Age Community Team"

Between June 10th and June 17th, 2017, two of the images (for The Cult and Toys) were replaced:

The text, however, stayed the same, and the appearance of the homepage remained unchanged until it was modified sometime between May 1st and June 10th, 2018. The Game Info section then looked like this:

ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN. EVERYTHING WILL. Game Info: Discover The Weapons, Vehicles, and Features of Far Cry 5. Story & Characters: Hope County has been taken over by a doomsday cult. Join the Resistance and restore freedom to Hope County! Far Cry Arcade: Jump into Far Cry Arcade and enjoy infinite Far Cry experiences built by a robust community of creators. This is what we got if we clicked “Learn More” for Game Info (I split the page into 4 parts):

ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN. EVERYTHING WILL. Welcome to Hope County, Montana, land of the free and the brave, but also home to a fanatical doomsday cult—known as The Project at Eden’s Gate—that is threatening the community's freedom. Stand up to the cult’s leaders, Joseph Seed and the Heralds, as you spark the fires of resistance that will liberate the besieged community. Join the Resistance now with Far Cry 5. Available now on PlayStation 4 system, Xbox One, and PC. STORY & CHARACTERS You’re the new Sheriff’s Deputy in town. The only problem is, your badge is pretty much useless. Cut off from the outside world, you’ll need to use your wits, willpower and the helping hands of Hope County’s townsfolk to remove the plague that is The Project at Eden’s Gate. TOYS Your arsenal is vast, and the way you wield it even more so. Throughout your campaign, you’ll gain access to weapons mods based on the folks you meet and progress you make. GAME FEATURES Far Cry 5 is a massive gameplay arena that’s filled with something new around every bend. The enemy AI behavior is more realistic, and the exploration is endless. Even when you feel like taking a break from the campaign, you can take in some leisurely fishing before diving back into your quest. It’s your mission. With it comes to freedom to take on a world that hits back by any means necessary. RALLY THE TROOPS THE RESISTANCE NEEDS YOU There’s no better time than now to start rallying your cult-fighting friends, dialing in your arsenal and planning your strategy to take back Hope County from Eden’s Gate.
What I mostly wanted to “Learn More” about were the Story & Characters, but there was interesting information on the Game Features page as well.
Commentary
The initial description of the cult said the “coercion, starvation or forced baptisms” were ways for them to “build a following in preparation of The Collapse”. This is still close to what we see in Far Cry 5, but they already had a following when the Reaping began and the open violence started. The vast majority of the cultists we encounter in the game joined because they had faith in Joseph, not because they were forced to. NPC dialog from the E3 2017 demo suggests, like this text, that the early version of Eden’s Gate wouldn’t hesitate to literally beat people into following and believing in the Father long before the Reaping began.
Under the cut are all the available source files, saved directly from the website, of the images you see in the screenshots:
