A recent discussion about the confusing personas shared by the Aristasians brought up the fact that many people, including me, have thought that the Aristasian authoress Annalinde Matichi was Miss Mary "Martindale" herself. This is perhaps due to two things, the above picture of Goldenhead launch at the Baja Book Festival in 2011 as well as the Amazon author page being switched to the page of Miss Mary's Tellurian name in the past few years. I believe that Miss Martindale was simply the person who managed the Amazon author page for Sushuri, and whatever Amazon bug combined their profiles together is because one account can manage several author pages, this is for people who write under pen names. It seems very reasonable that Miss Martindale would manage this for Sushuri, as she seemed to, rather famously, need other people to manage her. The confusion with this picture of Miss Martindale selling the books stems from none of us bongos to bother actually reading the description of the picture and looking at it. At first glance, and if we were looking at just a regular Tellurian authoress, selling a regular Tellurian book, we would assume the author is the one at the table, and the silly 3D model of what looks like the girl on the cover is just a virtual cut-out of the book's main character. But that's not what the description says. Let us reread the following:
This world’s first anime-character author, Annalinde Matichei, launches her book Goldenhead at an international book fair
Now, looking at the photo, obviously Miss Martindale isn't an "anime-character", the 3D anime girl T-posing on the left is! In this photo the 3D model is Annalinde Matichei.

For your question about what people wish was different about Japanese learning materials, something that I've always disliked about most resources is how they teach 'conjugation' because it's unnecessarily complicated. It doesn't help that Japanese 'conjugation' doesn't resemble at all what you do in English, Spanish, French, German, etc. because it's not really conjugation like that. It doesn't indicate number, person, mood, or tense beyond the simple past and non-past. This video is honestly the best resource I've found for this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FhyrskGBKHE&list=PLg9uYxuZf8x_A-vcqqyOFZu06WlhnypWj&index=8 , and I wish verbs were taught like this in other places too.
For me, learning verbs in the ない form first really helped, but I know that other people find different ways easier. I have an explanation why I do this on my blog. Conjugation seems to always be one of those topics where no one is satisfied and everyone wants a better way. :( Waiting for the Matrix downloading right to the brain on this one! Thank you for the video, I actually haven't watched any of Cure Dolly's stuff, but I've heard that her videos are pretty alright, if a bit dated on a literal technical level, not subject level. I'll have to poke through some of them and see if any of the information sticks. Again, thank you very much for answering my question!

This interesting page is archived on a Cure Dolly diary, from the heydays of when Cure Dolly was just setting out on her Japanese learning adventure back in 2015. These are the "characters" that later would be a bit more well known by us outlanders who went to her to learn Japanese. I don't speak Japanese, but I can struggle my way through katakana/hiragana like a very small child and Google Translate helps me with the rest. The first 2, and last 1, characters are simply her little dolls who were often in her photos and videos. But the middle 2 are of interesting note, because they're "Cure Dolly" and "Dolly's Mama".
Tumblr media
Google Translates "キュアドリー" as "Curedree", but this is how Cure Dolly writes her name in Japanese, "Kyua Dorī". An interesting note is that there is a Precure character named キュアドリーム or Cure Dream (Kyua Dorimu), so it appears that Cure Dolly just took the character name "Dorimu" and chopped off the "mu" to make "Dori", which does indeed appear to be a proper way to spell "Dolly". The Meiji period was 1868-1912, so she is perhaps actually referencing an actual antique doll. However the "recently came to life" and "act human" and always making mistakes is how she always seems to write about herself, as Cure Dolly. The "southern country" is most definitely because she was living in Mexico at the time.
Tumblr media
This one is a bit of a head scratcher. I would assume this was Miss Clare Trent, most certainly another name Miss Martindale used for herself, who frequently referred to herself as Cure Dolly's mother in various persona incarnations. Miss Cure Dolly herself would certainly never refer to herself as a grown up! But what "Dolly's 3rd owner when I was a child" possibly means is anyone's guess. I believe the Japanese to English translation is a little loosey here and the final sentence should be something like "I'm helping Dolly leave, but I'm not going to Japan." Not that Dolly is leaving and also not going to Japan. The diary mentions multiple mothers, but not "Dolly's Mama" but they are all various "host mothers", the various women who lived in whatever type of houses Cure Dolly was staying at in Japan. I do not believe they were Japanese Aristasians for one moment, I do not believe that they were aware they were being written into Cure Dolly's fantasy world.

“Schwoz told me that one of the final symptoms of his disease is lockjaw.”
Tumblr media
Never mind the chicken. Bro was scared. Dude can fall out of a moving helicopter and be fine and Schwoz creates a really bad cold and it’s the end of the line for him?
His anger at the end was completely justified. I would also put my husband in a shopping cart and push him into the street if he got me so sick I almost died and then pretended to destroy the thing that could literally save my life.

ok let's make something very clear: Taylor Swift is not a baddie.
she a spoiled white woman who grew up very wealthy and who's individual carbon footprint is larger than the entirety of some small nations.
you know who is a southern baddie? Dolly Parton.
grew up in absolute poverty in a shack with dirt floors
(TS has a rich family and spent every Xmas in NYC)
modeled her style after the town trollop, who she thought was the most beautiful woman in the world, and embraced her sexuality.
(TS retains the image of the young innocent virgin white girl despite being 35 years old and every one of her songs is about a man)
wrote a song about the stupidity of the American work system
(TS is a billionaire with two private jets)
has supported the queer community for decades even through some of its darkest times like the AIDS crisis
(TS uses the queer community like a prop)
started a scientific organization to help cure viruses like AIDS and that even helped develop the Covid vaccine
(TS made the last superbowl all about her becauses she was dating one of the players)
has run a charity since 1995 that sends millions of books to children in poverty, particularly the rural south where she grew up
(TS has done nothing for the south and its problems despite her southern belle persona)
"But she told off Trump! Thats something!"
Honey thats the absolute bare minimum.
That's telling someone 'bless you' after they sneeze.
That's holding the door open for someone in a wheelchair.
Thats waving back to a little kid when they wave at you.
It takes 0 risk and 0 effort and should not be a point of praise.
"Well her southern fans and sponsors didn't like it."
So? Woman is a billionaire with connections all over the world. She literally doesn't need them.
Bottom line: Taylor Swift remains an egotistical bourgeoisie white cunt who should be known for her pollution levels instead of her mid music.
While Dolly remains the bad bitch she's been since the 1970s.

Masterlist Word count: 773 Sylus x Reader
Summary: Sylus likes telling you about music. You like Sylus's voice.
Author's note: I felt like we all needed a tiny little bit of fluff after seeing those banners.
∘₊✧───────────────────────────────────────✧₊∘
He's been yapping for a while now. All the while, sweet sounds play from his record player. Every once in a while he gets up to put on a different record, but he seems to be sitting down a little closer to you each time.
Tension is rising, yet Sylus pretends he's unaffected. You are not pretending, you couldn't if you tried. It feels like your hands are itching to touch him, but you know this is important to him.
This is one of the ways he shows affection. He wants you to know what he likes and he wants input on what you like. His collection is extensive and strange. It goes from Tom Waits to The Beach Boys. From The Cure to Dolly Parton. From Metallica to Jim Croce. Surprisingly, he has something to tell about almost all of them.
He tells you about the differences between The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. About how The Beatles had a good boy image whilst being from rough backgrounds, while The Rolling Stones were from privileged lives and had a bad boy image. He tells you about David Bowie's album Lazarus, a testament to his own body failing and approaching death. He tells you about all the songs mentioned in Hozier's Sweet Music. And about how most people know Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds from the song Red Right Hand while he considers Into My Arms, a raw testament to love and believing in that deity only to ask it to bring his lover to him, a much better song.
Talks on and on about all these beautiful words strung together, about the instruments, about the quality of the recording. You love to listen to him. Love to hear him talk about these things that he seems so passionate about, but he has barely scratched the surface.
All the obscurer things he loves to listen to sneak their way into these moments every once in a while, but still he tends to go for love songs when you're around.
He sits down next to you after changing the record again and looks over into your tired eyes. The night owl that he is, he hadn't considered it is your bedtime already. 'Are you tired, sweetie? We can go to bed.'
You shake your head and position yourself onto his lap with one swift movement, your hands gently laying on his chest. Like two pieces of the puzzle, his hands slot against your hips as he looks up at you like he's looking into a fire. The forever changing warmth of your love enveloping him.
'Keep talking,' you tell him. He nods and starts talking about the record he just put on whilst his thumbs gently rub over the fabric of your bottoms. A song from Jim Croce that almost sounds like a lullaby. Time in a Bottle.
His words intertwine with the music like a baseline. You feel his voice rumble in his chest under your fingertips and move yourself closer to feel it in your own chest. Your arms wrap around him as you lean your head on his shoulder.
Slowly, the combination of sound and vibration lulls you closer and closer to sleep. Your mind gets carried on his sentences, gently floating around. Every once in a while, you hum to let him know you're still listening, but he can feel your breathing slow.
'Let's go to bed. I'm getting tired,' he states, more so for you than for him. But, truth be told, he has been sleeping exceptionally well ever since he's started sleeping in your arms. He stands up with you in his arms, clinging to his body like a koala.
'No,' you grumble, not really noticing he's gotten up, 'keep talking. I like hearing you talk.'
'Alright,' he agrees with a smile and he does.
As he carries you into the bedroom he tells you about all the love songs that remind him of you, all the lyrics that to him feel like they were written about you, all the guitar solos and music breaks in songs that make him feel like you are right there with him...
and he keeps talking until he snuggles up to you under the covers. He takes a few seconds to listen to your gentle breathing. He lays his head on your chest, the thumping of your heartbeat relaxing him like nothing else ever has. You have fallen asleep, and that seems the perfect time for a confession to him.
'But besides all of that, my favorite song is the sound of your voice when you greet me in the morning.'
