concept art I did for the city of Alinor in the Summerset Isles of the Elder Scrolls universe. I might be a little obsessed with these high elves...! If I recall correctly, this piece served as an inspiration for the Altmer city models in the Elder Kings 2 mod for Crusader Kings 3, when I was working with their 3D artist, AJ.

Baldwin IV, the... Gamer King?

Something I've found interesting - and rather surprising, tbh - is the increasing number of games and game concepts in which Baldwin IV features, and not simply as inspiration for the characters' designs, but as himself.

Here's how many places I've found him and the accompanying artwork of him (all very obviously inspired by - you guessed it - Kingdom of Heaven)

Baldwin also makes an appearance in the mods for several games, including...

Sid Meier's Civilization V

This mod adds the Kingdom of Jerusalem as a civilization to the game, with Baldwin IV as its leader. There's info on him on this wiki page, including his war and peace themes ("The Holy Land" and "Siege of Kerak" from Crusader Kings 2, respectively.)

Sid Meier's Civilization VI

This mod also adds the Kingdom of Jerusalem into the next game of the series, again with Baldwin IV as its leader.

Crusader Kings III

This mod overhauls CK3 to allow the player to assume the role of any leader present in Kingdom of Heaven (as well as their contemporaries around Europe and Asia), including Baldwin IV - although you won't get to play as him for very long before his death.

Finally, I've found some concept-style art of Baldwin floating around out there, too, although I'm not certain they are for an actual game or simply intended for a potential game if they happen to grab a developer's interest.

Spymaster: No. It's Lord Spidernator now.

so it turns out that if you have the new CK3 DLC, you can avoid Aella of Northumbria's historical fate of being ripped apart by angry Vikings by simply packing your bags and skipping town when you lose to the Great Heathen Army. You'll probably be assassinated while on the road but at least you'll be able to continue your dynasty, provided your son wasn't also ripped apart by angry Vikings.

I desperately, feverishly, need to find someone else who plays Crusader Kings 3 and isn't a sexist man,,, please,,, I want to nerd out about this silly medieval game,,,

Not to be autistic on main but ck3 (and ck2) are like so good for world building inspiration. I have little dialogs in my head of how characters are interacting with eachother, war, conflicts, family drama, anything. All of it surrounding medieval politics. It just scratches an itch in my brain so right. I don't even get mad when bad shit happens. Like, baby that's character development that is going to carry on for generations to come. Your great grandchild will someday go to war with your sister who wants the crown. Your kid might fucking murder you. Chef's kiss.

crusader kings 3 really puts you into the perspective of all the guys with obviously evil advisors because everyone on my council has "secretive traitorous little bitch" as a personality but yet there they are
