concept art I did for the city of Alinor in the Summerset Isles of the Elder Scrolls universe. I might be a little obsessed with these high elves...! If I recall correctly, this piece served as an inspiration for the Altmer city models in the Elder Kings 2 mod for Crusader Kings 3, when I was working with their 3D artist, AJ.

"Hey guys, let's check on that weird elf lover lady" - Status update(?)
⚠️ˢˡⁱᵍʰᵗ ᵗʷ!⚠️
So, other than grinding in college and trying to absorb as much TES lore as possible, I've been working on a speculation piece for the current (crisis) state of the Summerset Isles. I've made a few new friends who are also interested in helping me forge together an accurate current picture of the illusive province, now ruled by an oppressive authoritative system. Speaking of college, I'm majoring in history (you can already imagine how I feel every day waking up to the news)! And what I love to do most with a lot of the media I consume is draw comparisons to real-life historical events and phenomena.
I hope you can see where this is going. Getting back into TES lore again after years of being discouraged (a story for another time, it's not a pretty one) was the best thing to ever happen to me because there was this entire gold mine worth of material for me to investigate and study. But the lore tidbits and chunks that I ended up looking over more and more were practically everything that revolved around the Altmer. I do find their culture and customs to be extremely interesting, especially with how I'm absolutely obsessed with glamorized dystopian themes depicted in media. I just don't show it often because people always assume the worst.
I will be crystal clear, I still have so much to learn about the Altmer and TES lore in general. I have been previously stunted in learning both aspects (again, a story for another time). So, I may be joking around a lot and goofing off a lot on this dump blog, but what no one sees is me scribbling down notes under the table. And trust me, I'm always writing and watching. They may look like insane rants made by an airhead, but hey, I'm still doing my best!
I am aware that what I'm doing is not popular within the mainstream(?) space of the modern TES community. The High Elves are seen as nothing more than heartless snobs who think that they are better than everyone else. When everyone and their grandmother should know this is the furthest from the truth, and we were given far too many examples of that. Hell, the Dunmer are more beloved than the Altmer, and they would be canceled yesterday if Morrowind came out in the modern day (along with the masses learning about how they treated Argonians).
All TES races and some of their customs have unsightly facts about them in some shape or form. Yes, I am aware of the Altmer practicing eugenics and other not-so-fun facts. Trust me, that was hammered into my skull back in the day whenever I dared to have curiosity. In fact, every bad fact about every elven race in general was fed into me back when I lacked the spine to do my own research in order to appease the wrong kind of people.
I don't want to ramble on for too long. That's what I've been up to for the last few weeks. Thank you for reading! :>

The Thalmor wear perfume. Also, flowers make Ondolemar sneeze, and he loves giving people hugs
Was going to go to sleep at a reasonable time, but instead got hit by a wave of "let's write fanfic," so have some headcanons about the Thalmor (and Ondolemar in particular)
Most of them won't admit it, but most Thalmor agents get terribly homesick when they're out in the field, especially when they stuck in a cold, miserable place like Skyrim. Because of this, there's a booming trade in perfume and potpouri made from the proscato flower amongst the Thalmor. (Proscato flowers are a purple flower native to Alinor.) Because it is so popular, almost any place the Thalmor call home is likely to smell of proscato.
It is usually described as having a subtle sweetness to it, similar to a warm spring day. However, some people have an increased sensitivity to proscato and describe the scent as overwhelming or cloyingly sweet.
-
Ondolemar doesn't actually mind the smell of proscato perfume, but it always makes him sneeze. Because of this, and because of how hard it is to get any imports to Markarth, he doesn't tend to buy it unless he knows someone is coming over.
Unlike most of the Thalmor, who smell like flowers, Ondolemar smells like leather and stone and oil.
-
Less lore-intense headcanon but Ondolemar's love language is definitely physical touch. If he cares about you and he knows you're having a bad day, the first thing he'll do is offer you a hug. And he gives good hugs. He's the sort of person who would sit squished right next to you on the couch even if there was plenty of space because it's cozier that way. Whenever he makes a joke, he'll probably nudge you (because he's worried you won't get it, otherwise).
He's not a huge fan of public displays of affection (altmer society tends to be more reserved in that regard, and it's a norm he has a hard time shaking) but he's attentive in other ways while in public. Think holding the door open, or making sure you have enough space if you're being jostled by a crowd.

This goes for both playable and unplayable races. Because the list is either too short and also too long so I’m going to squeeze the ones I think are most interesting.
The races I picked (Khajiit and Argonians are playable and well know) are all unplayable, downright hostile and or barely know about. But they are all interactive and can be communicated with either it be pleasant or dangerous. Some are know to be very rare and or extinct by the way.
